    I never played any game of the series before, so i cannot compare this one to original's. But i liked this one very much, game looks like movie that came out same year on big screen and plays really fun.

    Buen Juego, con una jugabilidad bastante divertida y con bastantes posibilidades para el combate lo cual lo hace variado. La historia está interesante aunque bastante corta para mi gusto, y un poco simple, pecando con un poco de clichés. Pero bastante recomendado para pasar un buen rato y divertirse.

    A classic game from the Playstation 2 era, Ratchet and Clank clashes into our PS4 hard drive in a moment of need. To be fair, not many games had caught my interest on PS4 until this game released. After a few amazing days hours, I found myself preferring this title to the PS2 counterparts. It's not a easy feat, but Insomniac Games pulled it off.

    This is a really good game ! I spent around 14-15 hours to complete the campaign and I found a lot of variety in this game (it is not at all repetitive like other games). Here are a few pros:

    - The final boss is quite frustrating and way harder than anything before him (in my opinion). I'm a average skill player and I had to try at least 15 times to finally beat him

    A refreshing burst of nostalgia from my childhood, with great production quality to boot. A fine reboot to the series, with the all fun and quirks you'd expect from a Ratchet and Clank game.

    Game-play is absolutely awesome, but the story doesn't hold up as well as most other games in the series. The characters are mostly bland, and there's very little bonding between Ratchet & Clank. Definitely hope the next game is better.

    One of the two games that came with my PS4 (the other being Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection) Ratchet and Clank did cement my love for Shooters. Set in a world that doesn't take itself seriously at all, although sometimes it comes across as a bit cringey. The guns in this game are a delight to use, although a few weapons are basically unnecessary. Another aspect I don't enjoy is howOne of the two games that came with my PS4 (the other being Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection) Ratchet and Clank did cement my love for Shooters. Set in a world that doesn't take itself seriously at all, although sometimes it comes across as a bit cringey. It doesn't last long, but crashing into a building and dying isn't all too fun. And, Insomniac, don't worry. My PS4 can handle more than one save! Then why can you only have one? Except for these gripes, I think this game is a solid Shooter which rewards the adventurous, and is great all around.… Expand

    What a surprise!

    Got it with the psn plus and love it so far! This game is really fun, fun story and characters, really easy gameplay and various different gameplay areas! Graphics are good, each planet offers you a different landscape. Music is very good also.     First game where 30 fps doesn't feel clunky, still 60 would be better. Game is pretty much like watching a cartoon and pressing some buttons.

    Got this game free on PS plus a while ago and i just recently downloaded it an started playing it, and freaking enjoy it, i did the story 3 times and got the platinum trophy, i finished this game under 2 days ( 12 hours each day) and still want to keep playing because this game is pretty fun.

    I really wonder whether some of the (user) reviews are paid for. The graphics might be good but that's where it ends. They ripped everything straight out of the movie and the movie itself was extremely poorly received. The results are totally imaginable.     Ratchet & Clank (2016) was very disappointing. I'm not saying I didn't like the game sure I did, it was fun to play. To bring it to newcomers, it re imagines the story of the first game that was released in 2002. Long term fans overall felt disappointed, the gameplay was good but story-wise, that's where it lacked.

    The Ratchet and Clank reboot is entirely entertaining and worth playing. While the story isn't quite as engaging, it still manages to bring back the spark of the originals as well as innovate enough that it holds up as its own game.

    and it's not just the difficulty itself, this boss fight especially, is just plain dishonest.
    i thought about uninstalling the game after finishing it, but i'm keeping it there just so i can have my

    This Ratchet and Clank is a reboot in the purest sense of the word, rather than a remastered version. And it is a very good reboot, indeed.

    As almost all the Ratchet and Clank games, it is story-wise and full of little jokes and comical moments. I have found the narrative framework a bit confusing at times, perhaps because it combines elements from the film and from the original game,    This Ratchet and Clank is a reboot in the purest sense of the word, rather than a remastered version. And it is a very good reboot, indeed.

    As almost all the Ratchet and Clank games, it is story-wise and full of little jokes and comical moments. I have found the narrative framework a bit confusing at times, perhaps because it combines elements from the film and from the original game, but this does not diminish the quality of the game at all in any case.

    Regarding gameplay, there is not much to say: it is addictive and easy to play, as all the games from the franchise. I played the original games on PS2 more than a decade ago, and I now feel that I used to enjoy them more than I do now. Still, I have enjoyed playing this one too, and I hope Insomniac keeps on developing new adventures for these two characters, probably the two most representative of the company.

    I sold my Xbox One for a PlayStation 4 just for this game. It did not disappoint . This is a great action platforming game even if it's based on a mediocre movie.

    Un juego divertido y frenético, me lo platine en 4 días y tiene linda jugabilidad, una historia divertida y grandes personajes. Los niveles están muy bien construidos y la diversidad de armas también.
    Se nota que tiene un lore muy grande, me gustaría haberlo visto más ampliado.

    Es un reboot de la saga bastante bueno, con algunas alteraciones de la historia que hacen que sea nostalgico y nuevo al mismo tiempo para quienes disfrutamos de la obra original de PS2, tanto si eres nuevo en la saga como si no, lo podrás disfrutar.

    The story in Ratchet & Clank has you traveling to several different, bright and colorful planets that look absolutely gorgeous. This is one of the prettiest games on the PS4 and the animation is stunning. Visually it's right up there with the best animated kid movies. The story is both a reimagining of the original R&C game as well as an expansion on the plot of the film adaptation. It's all serviceable, but I found no interest in the narrative as there seemed to be some missing details. Also I feel the majority of the humor falls flat. The actual laughs are few.

    Exploring each of the game's planets is a blast. The joy of discovery is real. Everything comes off as genuinely alien and otherworldly. I was instantly pulled into combing every nook and cranny for whatever the developer hid there. In a lot of ways this how Mass Effect: Andromeda should have felt. Of course fighting your way through stages makes up the majority of what you'll be doing here. Combat feels mostly great and fights are both frantic and energetic. I had a slight problem with how the lock on system is handled for certain weapons. Nothing that got in the way of my ability to shoot effectively, but it never quite felt like that aspect was programmed quite as well as it could/should of been. Platforming is spot-on and what few diversions there are offer nice breaks in the action.

    Insomniac has created a stellar sci-fi adventure that can be picked up and played by gamers of all ages. It offers enough depth and satisfying action to ensure that it appeals to older audiences while never being too complicated to prevent the younger players out there from picking up and having fun as well. It's a masterclass in adventure and hands down one of the PS4's best exclusives.

    This game is what every remake should be! The graphics jump is just gorgeous! I hope this sets an example for all the other developers out there instead of just remastering the same exact game and re-releasing it.
    When we ask for a remake this is the prime example of what we're looking for.

Schade ist allerdings, dass bei der Rückbesinnung auf auch an Rätseln gespart wurde, die Abschnitte meist linear und überschaubar gestaltet wurden und die Flugsteuerung etwas zu sensibel reagiert. Doch selbst wenn Veteranen abseits der neuen Bosse kaum überrascht werden, ist das eine sehr gute PS4-Premiere. Aufgrund der eher unrühmlichen Premiere von Knack und spärlicher Konkurrenz ist Ratchet & Clank zudem der beste Plattformer dieser Konsolengeneration.… Expand

    Absolutely love this game! The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is exciting, and upgrading weapons is addictive. I found myself laughing numerous times with the great storytelling and being completely immersed in the characters and open worlds. Can't wait to give this fantastic game another run via Challenge Mode!

    However, as my first game in the series I really enjoyed it. Cartoony graphics are beautiful, animations in the cutscenes are fantastic and I haven't noticed any frame rate drops. Audio is fine and the voice acting is really well done.     However, as my first game in the series I really enjoyed it.

    Cartoony graphics are beautiful, animations in the cutscenes are fantastic and I haven't noticed any frame rate drops.

    Audio is fine and the voice acting is really well done.

    Controls are very fluid, jumping sections don't require pixel precision from you and certain puzzles can be challenging at times.

    The only downside is that the game is pretty short but if you want to max it out there are some collectibles, optional objectives and upgrading to do. There's even a challenge mode to play through the game again but I didn't feel like doing that.    … Expand

I'm giving this game 10/10 as it pretty much nails every aspect you'd want and expect in a next-gen platformer. The Ratchet and Clank characters are the same as always, noble and humble heroes looking for an adventure. Captain Qwark is still a pompous and self-interested "hero". The developers altered the jokes for the modern era, with references to social media (which didn't exist back in 2002). And when you see a remade game parodying itself by saying "see you in the next reboot", you know it's funny.

    The Ratchet & Clank games have always been a fun mix of 3D platformer and shooter, and this remake is no exception. Mechanics from later games (such as leveling up weapons with XP) are introduced in this remake, as well as some new features (holocard collecting, weapon customisation). Cool weapons are plentiful, but my personal favorites are the Sheepinator (turns enemies into harmless sheep), the Pixeliser (a shotgun that turns enemies into 8-bit sprites) and the Groovitron (an AoE orb that makes enemies dance around for roughly 10 seconds and be open to attack). Unfortunately there are only 3 boss fights in this game, and none of them is a challenge. There are plenty of collectibles to find, and some side quests are different from the original game. When you are done with the campaign you can begin a Challenge Mode (a New Game Plus mode), by replaying the story with higher level enemies, while your weapons as well as your HP bar can be upgraded even more.

    This remake has some of the best cartoony graphics I have ever seen in a video game. Insomniac Games wanted to recreate a Pixar-esque art style, but it comes at the cost of a lower frame rate. Ratchet & Clank games have always been running at 60 fps, but the developers have abandoned this target in recent years and the remake is running at 30 fps. A game like this with fast action and shooting needs 60 fps. But it's OK once you get used to it. Also if you have a PS4 Pro you can enjoy this game in 4K with HDR, but it's still 30 fps.

    Ratchet and Clank is very well written, funny, and a whole lot of fun. I got it for free from Playstation Plus and was very happy with it. I'm sure it's cheap now too so if you missed the free giveaway it's worth the few bucks that it sells for. It's 10 hours well spent. So it's a little on the short side, but I loved every minute of it.

    Just a fun game to play. I had never played any games in the series and enjoyed this game throughout.

    Pros:
    - Plenty of weapons that were fun to use and experiment with
    - Clank's puzzles were well done
    - Enjoyable story and made me laugh some

    Cons:
    - While the weapons were cool the combat felt ancient
    - Some of the track racing and other unique parts could be frustrating

    For any old Ratchet and Clank fans I totally recommend this game, it has a couple of easter eggs here and there reffering to the old games and it's quite cool. I also recommend it for new ones, It's a perfect game and for its price as well! Get out there and buy Ratchet and Clank!

    The beautiful game with nice gameplay, but I found it super easy. Level design is lazy, secrets are not really secrets. I was looking for good old-school hardcore platformer, but it was none. But it's still fun and polished game (no bugs at all!).

    I would give it an 8.6 so I rounded up. This game looks good in HDR and has quite the comic charm. It is not impressive but everything is just very good. Te levels, the humor, the characters, the extremely funny weapons, the graphics, the sound. I can recommend this action platfromer without regret for everyone

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a good reboot of the first game. It has lived up to the original with making it's own unique game. It has a story that works but unfortunately it could be more adult like which is what long term fans would really miss. And the twist where Nefarious is the villain could've been built up foreshadowing the events. It has humour within it's levels however with the weapons for example it uses and Quark's narration is amazing. Speaking of the voice cast they all deliver their lines either ranging from good to amazing except for Bella Thorne who will grate on you after a while. And the weapons are not the best we have seen in the franchise but is definitely worthy to be a good standard and the pixeliser is a weapon I hope to stay seeing. The games difficulty is very easy for any fan but it makes sense why since this is very orientated to a kid audience. The soundtrack is good but not as good as the PS2 era. The game I wish could've been longer and maybe instead of merging planets it could've made them separate with their own unique twists. Not only this, although the graphics are drop dead amazing still to this day one of the best looking PS4 games it could've made more of it with huge space fights. Overall this game is a blast from start to finish but could've used a bit more maturity within it, although it isn't good as the PS3 trilogy it is still a fun adventure to play through… Expand

    Gameplay was just as brilliant as I remember these types of games. I never played Ratchet & Clank or the similar sounding Jak & Daxter, but I have played games like them. There is a nice mix of platforming and shooting that feels like Mario 64 had a child with Quake. The weapons are insanely creative and fun, especially the Groovitron. Pro tip, max out the rocket launcher weapons for boss battles. Also a pro tip, max out the boost to Raritanium drops so you can upgrade guns faster. The environments also look great, with colorful, shiny, and well drawn scenery. After finishing the game, you unlock challenge mode and can unlock even more devastating upgrades.     What happened? Ratchet and Clank is my favorite video game series, sitting through trying to play this game was misery. The story was painfully bland, the music didn't live up to the original's, the gameplay was fine but not as fun as any other Ratchet and Clank game. Reboots, or "reimaginings" are never as good as the original, and they should've just continued the series from where it left off.

    Pretty good. Graphically I expected more for 30FPS, and some aspects aren't actually as good as the original was, but still pretty good.

    Would hope for some PS3 ratchet and clank remasters of this level of quality. Either that or a real PS4 ratchet and clank.

    Despite being a huge Jak and Daxter fan back in the day, this was my first Ratchet and Clank game. I found it to be a welcome return to the classic action platforming genre. Quite frankly, a joy to experience.

    There are puzzle sections with Clank that are brief but fun along with some secrets hidden around in the world that are a joy to find. The only bad thing about the gameplay is the hacking mini game, which is really boring but thankfully it isn't often.

    The game is also beautiful looking as well. There isn't much about the game that looks bad, it really is an amazing looking game. 60FPS would have been nice, but I never really noticed it being in 30fps.

    The only real downside is some of the story. It's simple which is fine, and some of the humor and characters work, but when the humor misses the mark it REALLY misses the mark. Some of it is the worst I have heard, partly because of the jokes but also because of the delivery. Despite that, Ratchet, Clank and the Captain are all cool characters that I can't wait to see more of.

    There is also a New Game + mode which allows you to further upgrade your weapons, upgrade Ratchet's health and allows you face some new enemies at a higher challenge.

    This is really a must have for any PS4 owner out there. It is a relatively cheap game and there isn't any DLC or Microtransactions. You would be hard pressed to not at least partially enjoy this game.    … Expand

    The only real negative I can really think of is the boring chase instances when playing as Clank but I believe there are only two levels which have this feature so it really is not a big issue. Other than that I cannot fault the game in any way, it has to be one of the best, if not the best remake of an old school game. It really is like playing a PS2 game again, but modern, with smoother mechanics, a nice polish and reasonable collision. Hopefully more companies will follow suit and not necessarily remake old games but release games with that old school PS2 feel    … Expand

    I loved the game from beginning to end. The graphics are gorgeous and gameplay is very fluent. frame rate and frame pacing is very stable. the story is funny , pretty straight forward and predictable but great nonetheless The pricing of the game was also fantastic. This is one of those games that every ps4 owner should add to his game collection.

    A great reboot-remake of the original PS2 game with brand new graphics and story.

    The game maintains the original essence of the original.

    The bad point is that can be quite short if goes only trough the main story, but for it´s price is totally worth.

    I'd never played any of the original titles, so I can say that "nostalgia" factor is out of my opinion.

    This game surprised me. it has many of the aspects that most (if not all) the games in this genre have lost. It's been a while that I found an Adventure/Platform game so high in quality, immersing, diverse, funny and fast-based.

    The genre is revived with this one.

    This is the first complete game that I enjoyed on my PS4.

    And I have to say that it will be very difficult to get over this game.

    This game reached my standards on how a Plataformer/action game should be. Only other game gave me this lots of fun, and of course that game was Sunset Overdrive.

    Game is super fun, funny and absolutely gorgeous with pixar level graphics. I havent seen anything like this in any other game. A perfect reboot to one of the best franchises on playstation.

It succeeds in being faithful to the light hearted nature of the rest of the series' installments, which is for me half of the reason I enjoy these games so much, the other half being the customization and adaptive opportunity of choosing the right customized weapon at the right moment to win in the easiest way (this game succeeds at this as well, perhaps better than some of its most recent predecessors).

    The look of the game itself is stunning, and certainly contributes to the playing experience, as all the colorful atmospheres and interesting variations in level design make it one of those game that are truly enjoyable to play through. I enjoyed especially the task of trying to find the golden bolts and the occasional frustration that came with that. When going back through already accomplished levels I didn't feel so much a sense of repetition as I did a sense of success, being able to stomp on familiar territory with a more prestigious purpose. And the settings are so bedazzling that exploration is really an almost calming pastime.

    That being said, this game might come up short to players who are not already in love with Ratchet and Clank or who are too much in love with the original Ratchet and Clank. To players new to the series, the game might feel somewhat boring in its simplicity. To players who loved the original with all their heart, the game will suffer a similar feeling of being dumbed down. The old Ratchet and Clank games always threw in some risqué jokes intended for a more mature audience and always managed to maintain an adult undertone, despite all appearances to the contrary. This game loses that aspect of it since it is trying to accommodate its devolution into a children's movie. To a degree, both criticisms are justified. The game is certainly simpler than its original titles.

    But that being said, I think part of its simplicity is derived from the ease of its playability. This game's controls might be the most perfected out of the whole series.

    Taken into a full perspective, this game succeeds at bringing Ratchet and Clank to the new console and perfecting the atmosphere and controls of the series. It provides an entertaining experience with the same customization opportunities had in the previous entries, along with giving players several new innovations. The game manages to keep its charm even if it loses some of its wit. Certainly not the best in the series, but deserving of an 8/10.    … Expand

Having never played the series, and being a fan of 3D platformers, this was a game I eagerly anticipated. What I found out is that the series (or, at least, this particular game) lacks many of the things that made me love the genre in the first place.

Having never played the series, and being a fan of 3D platformers, this was a game I eagerly anticipated. What I found out is that the series (or, at least, this particular game) lacks many of the things that made me love the genre in the first place.

    As the game opens, Ratchet is a mechanic apprentice lombax who lives on a peaceful planet but dreams of going in adventures and becoming a hero. One day, has a fateful encounter with Clank, an escaped robot from a grim warbot factory in another planet. Clank wants to stop the evil Chairman Drek from destroying planets with his newest weapon, the deplanetizer, and so the duo embark on an adventure to warn the Galactic Rangers. Yes, it's all very derivative of Star Wars, which is a real bummer when one considers the endless possibilities for a cartoonesque space opera universe.

    The titular duo's gameplay partnership is reminiscent of one of the genre's pinnacles: Banjo-Kazooie. Ratchet walks, jumps, and attacks enemies, while Clank, affixed on the lombax's back, aids the gameplay with special movements such as shortly hovering in mid-air. That's where the similarities with Banjo stop, however, as R&C features linear, story-driven progression instead of the more open-ended format seen on Rare's classic series.

    Collectibles are present, although the linear story-driven nature of the game hardly compelled me to go out of my way to find them. The most important items are the many wacky guns and weapons you can acquire, which help Ratchet defeat enemies in a variety of ways. They're fun to use, but the lack of a Metroidvania-like push for backtracking feels like a wasted opportunity.

    It should be said that the game's performance and production values are stellar. Graphics are crisp and colorful, while movement is extremely fluid. The music is at odds with this, as Ratchet & Clank's soundtrack eschews catchy tunes for generic orchestrated action themes, usually seen on big-budget animation movies.

    Sadly, the music isn't the only time the game shows its obsession with being a big-budget animation movie, which is generally to its great detriment. The strict adherence to a script brings forth problems such as the aforementioned linearity, which is frustrating in an universe full of potential like this one. Characters also constantly banter on screen, spewing out tired quips and ho-hum jokes. This is bad by itself, but gets aggravating fast in more difficult sessions, since you'll have to listen to every single line again after each time you die.

    The game can certainly be fun, however. Like I said, weapons are a highlight, and there are several action-heavy sequences that can be exhillarating. What is missing is a way to just sit back and explore after each of those sequences, or at least meaningful reasons to do so. As is, Ratchet & Clank ends up feeling like a mere tie-in to their first movie, which was released concurrently, or a warm-up for young players before they get into other franchises in the genre with deeper, better-designed gameplay.

    TL;DR:
    I think the main problem with Ratchet & Clank is not that it lacks ambition, but that its ambition is woefully misdirected. Instead of wanting players to discover and explore its admittedly alluring universe, it wants to strictly guide them through a mediocre movie plotline. I mean, they released an actual animated movie alongside the game, so why not try more of a focus on open-ended exploration here instead?

    I needed this game so bad, I haven't played a platform game this great since crash bandicoot 3. The way the game looks and feels is just out of this world. There are some puzzles in it, which i always love in games, and had some giggles with those whitty jokes. Every cent of this game was totally worth it. Thanks Insomniac and Sony. It's a pure masterpiece.

    Pros:
    - Unique and varied weapons
    - Levels are the perfect length
    - Great aesthetic
    - Unquestionably a return to form

    Cons:
    - Bosses are boring
    - Story is a mess due to the movie cutscenes
    - Clank does not do much
    - Gunplay feels a little sloppy at first
    - Some sidequests are simply not fun

    Ratchet & Clank looks and plays as well as it ever has. Fans will enjoy the nostalgic journey through familiar planets, while newcomers will appreciate the chaotic and creative weaponry. But for the ninth game in a franchise that built its name on unique weapons, it’s a shame that the arsenal just coasts on fan-favorites. Insomniac played it safe.
