The way in which Persona 5 Royal manages to develop all the characters very well, in a long and immersive story, without being boring for the player is excellent. Even at the end, when it shows all the results of Maruki’s research on cognitive psience, and what his goals were and why to do that, it’s just wonderful how the creators took elements applied from the beginning and used them in a plot twist at the end of game. Certainly one of the best JRPG and gaming experiences I have ever had.… Expand

    It’s everything the original game was, but with more! Characters are so brilliant, the storylines are so real (even when using fantastical themes) and it really is a special experience. This sort of experience transcends gaming to me, and I’m utterly in love with it.     Love Persona 5 Royal alot love the new changes from the Original to Royal well not almost everything except for Okumura Boss Fight in Persona 5 Royal. I attempted this boss fight 20 times & everytime I lose time & get a game over from it makes me feel like crap. Sometimes I ask have ATLUS test played this boss fight? Even if I some how beat the boss fight I might just never wanna replay Persona 5 Royal it ruined the replay experience for me. That's the real reason for the three Stars the game started out perfect but 5th Boss Fight for the palace is when I wanna put the game down IM DONE. On the 20th time playing this I grinded & even level up baton passes, however that didn't work. I'm not gonna buy other ATLUS game after this this is bad step towards your new comers getting into Persona with this move I even played the game on easy since I'm new to the series. Love Persona 5 Royal but don't love the company decisions on this Boss Fight. The only thing that can bring me back is patching this fight which I bet they won't do until everybody complain about it. Hopefully when others get their hands on the game that will happen & get ATLUS to patch this fight to make it fair.… Expand

    I’m writing this review because of the 60 dollar price tag reviews. I don’t think a game should ever be judged on its price tag or company’s terrible choice etc. The actual game is how a game should be judged. This is a great game and I’d buy the game again to experience the new Royal part for the first time again.

    Beautiful game, really sets the themes of forgiveness, compassion, and the potential of us as humans to grow from pain. Really fun JRPG, testing your ability to work on your builds and strategize to use them in battles; you also get an incredibly soundtrack to accompany those adrenaline-inducing encounters. The RPG element combined with the story and the setting had me hooked for a solid +100 hrs.

    This game is very good, good story, good character, characters (mostly good) and creative and good game, the graphics are bad but graphics do not mean everything, the game is 1 year of gamaplay with several palaces with many hours of gameplay but the real problem is that the beginning is very sexualized and disrespect women but other than that the game is very good and addictive

    The best JRPG that was ever made. The Royal upgraded the already great vanilla game. I put over 400 hours into this game and still don`t get bored.

    Having played the original Persona 5 and then this I can say without a doubt that this game is an absolute improvement of the original. The new confidants, new palace are great additions to the game as well as how well they intertwined these additions to the story of the original game.     Fun time with this game the story was just damn good. I like the day to day stuff and liked how it was an anime I was controlling. Got to balance if you Capture monsters or make friendships stronger, romance 1 or all at the same time its up to you as you take on the roll of a young man, whatever way you choose to spend time on this game the story will be something to enjoy

    Quite possibly the best game of all time and at the very least the best game of the generation, Persona 5 Royal blows all expectations out of the park. Extremely excited for Persona 6.

    I played the original Persona 5 and absolutely loved it. Needless to say when I heard that this game was coming out I knew I had to pick it up and play it. The new content this version adds is really good and I 100% recommend it. As soon as I finished it I went for another play through so I could get the platinum trophy. This is probably the best JRPG i have ever played, its possibly theI played the original Persona 5 and absolutely loved it. The further you get in the game the more features, character development, music etc. I really care for the characters and I felt genuine disgust when I saw the hidden desires of some of the characters. The way you choose what stats to focus on or not is really interesting. This game has some of if not the greatest dialogue in gaming history. IPersona 5 Royal won't stop getting better.     The best turn-based RPG, the story may not be as engaging as Persona 3 or 4 but it makes you want to continue, you don't want to leave your group of companions. Fighting, exploration and history, visual art, music all of this is incredible. I have never felt so happy playing a game like this, a sensation that I will carry throughout my life

    Persona 5 Royal is an utterly fantastic game. It fixes most, if not all the flaws that the original had, and even adds more story to it. I cannot recommend this game enough.

    Greatest game of all time. The gameplay, characters, story, art style, and soundtrack are all mind-blowing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this game and there is no reason to not play it.

    Persona 5 Royal was my most anticipated videogame for some time, so I decided to preorder the Ultimate Edition... was it worth?
    The story remains mostly the same, but it's been expanded with 2 additional characters, a new Palace and a third semester, which is undoubtedly the best story arc in the entire game!
    The gameplay is improved in almost every way! There are new mechanics like the    Persona 5 Royal was my most anticipated videogame for some time, so I decided to preorder the Ultimate Edition... was it worth?
    The story remains mostly the same, but it's been expanded with 2 additional characters, a new Palace and a third semester, which is undoubtedly the best story arc in the entire game!
    The gameplay is improved in almost every way! There are new mechanics like the grappling hook and the showtimes but there are also minor improvements over the baton pass and the guns, which made the combat system even more fun.
    Same with the characters; In Persona 5 Royal, not only there are 2 additional major characters, but there's also a proper confidant and more screentime for a vital character as well.
    The Palaces have received some changes; there are new areas to explore, new items to collect and some frustrating parts have been removed.
    The music is absolutely phenomenal; Shoji Meguro strikes again with a unique "Royal" touch this time!
    Lastly, there's new music and additions for Mementos, interesting changes to the boss battles, more free time & content, a ton of other QoL improvements and faster loading times.
    Unfortunately though, all these changes made the game much easier; even on harder difficulties, the game is still quite easy.
    Other than that... what more could I ask for?

    Persona 5 Royal is Persona 5 at it's finest; by improving upon the original game in almost every way while adding stuff that I consider essential to be in the game, it's exactly how I wanted Persona 5 to be in the first place.
    Persona 5 Royal is a dream come true for fans and newcomers alike; it's the perfect videogame experience.

    This is so good, from the gameplay to the story, it's very different from any other games out there, even other japanese ones. Persona series is my favorite right now, played them for at least 500 hours.

The soundtrack of the game is also one of my favorites, although I like P4G's better. The funky and jazzy upbeat music fit the mood very well, when either in the cafe or in a battle. As a musician, I was veryA very fun experience. P5R has the best art style I have ever seen in a game. The GUI, cutscenes, everything is made with great attention to detail. The game is very well-polished. The soundtrack of the game is also one of my favorites, although I like P4G's better. The funky and jazzy upbeat music fit the mood very well, when either in the cafe or in a battle. As a musician, I was very impressed by how well made the tracks were. Apart from that, the story presentation and characters were great. I already love Persona's social sim mechanics, so that was still very enjoyable for me. The turn-based battle system was very entertaining like it was in the previous games. Negotiations were a nice addition.
    Although the above-mentioned aspects were well-made, the story did not feel TOO satisfactory to me. This is of course a personal preference and may be different for other people. In the Persona series I really can't warm up to the "Friendship and love is power" message. I mean, I like the message but it's too highlighted for me. The story, in general, was OK but IMO it was too long without any big twists. The story was very consistent, I would have loved some exciting plot twists. Everything in the story came predictable to me and I was almost never surprised. In that sense, P5R was a downgrade from Persona 4 Golden, which had many surprising and unexpected moments for me.
    The cons I mentioned were not a turn-off for me at all, I still enjoyed the game very much with engaging combat and social sim mechanics.    … Expand

    Persona 5 Royal despite being a long 200+ hour journey, provides an amazing unforgettable experience. The amazing soundtrack combined with the beautiful art style creates an    Persona 5 Royal was my first playthrough of the Persona 5 story. After the introduction of Joker in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, I played through Persona 4 to get into the franchise before I went into the latest title.
    Persona 5 Royal despite being a long 200+ hour journey, provides an amazing unforgettable experience. The amazing soundtrack combined with the beautiful art style creates an unforgettable atmosphere unique to the Persona 5 game series, breathing new life into the traditional turn-based JRPG.
    The story has its dull tedious moments early on that left me taking breaks from the game for months on end, there are certain parts of the game that feel like the player must force themselves to get through. However despite this, after reaching the end of the third palace, I found myself loving each and every one of the characters and becoming actually engaged with the story. Toward the end of the game, I had become so invested in the story and so attached to the characters that from the final boss-fight to the end credits I was constantly in tears. Every single character, especially the two main antagonists received major character development throughout the story and allowed the player to feel empathy for their situations despite their goals to stand against your party and everything you've fought for.
    The gameplay felt as if they had drastically updated the old turn-based JRPG combat that games such as Dragon Quest and Pokemon have started to wear out. Many new simple mechanics make combat less of a chore in between story moments and more like proper full-fledged gameplay.
    The difficulty is a major issue with this game, having played on hard difficulty (merciless makes the game way too easy for a harder difficulty) I found this game incredibly easy. I feel as if this game deserves a harder difficulty for those used to the combat system from previous games or those returning for a second playthrough. Though despite that, the main focus of the game comes from storytelling elements as opposed to challenging combat.
    Overall this game is an amazing experience that quickly shot itself to become my favorite game of all time, its only drawbacks come from its length and difficulty. To any fans of visual novels or other story-heavy games, I believe this is a must-play provided you have the 200 hours to spare.    … Expand

    The graphics are good enough, controls are sweet, given it's round based battle anyway and you have some strategizing to do while playing without asking too much of players. The gameplayloop is invigorating to addictive and you have tons of options or rather reasons to replay it with a different approach although on your first round the bosses might give you more trouble then they worth it but there is always New Game + and it is so satisfying to steamroll anything that gave you trouble before int consequent playthroughs.

    Really, I can't get enough of the Phantom Thieves and would love to follow them to college in another game before moving on to Persona 6. Though I know this won't happen. A short mentioning of Strikers, I won't fully review it here and it was sad, it play in the P5 universe instead of the P5 Royal universe and while it was nice to travel with the Phantom thieves in that one, it was much more of a hassle and not so encouraging to replay.

    Ultimately I just say, if you like J-RPGs or are just curious since you heard so much of it, go for it NOW, even if your not too inclined to this kind of games it's still worth to look at. I would say it's a must have and must play for anyone that appreciates J-RPGs.    … Expand

If I could give it an 11/10 I would, I plan on playing strikers next, just to spend more time with these masterfully created characters. I love this game, and nothing will change that.     Pero no todo es bueno, y esque, Persona 5 royal peca de ser repetitivo, ya que durante esas 100 h    Un autentico juegazo, que cuenta con un estilo artistico increible, un combate por turnos divertido, complejo, y que acompaña bien a la duracion del juego, que son entre unas 100h. abe destacar, que la historia es tambien muy buena, y que va acompada de personajes con incribles transfondos.

    Pero no todo es bueno, y esque, Persona 5 royal peca de ser repetitivo, ya que durante esas 100 h de gameplay, sera todo el rato ir de palacio en palacio, y aunque son distintos entre si, teniendo cada unos sus puzzles, enemigos, diseño y jefe, acaba haciendose pesado.

    As a jrpg is functional, of course, but if you are going to see the poorly graphics (coming from PS3) that the games brings from this edition, it's hard to see how this game is reached the values of other games like TloU2, for example.

    Although the game is very long since I had to play 170 hours of play, those 170 hours are too entertaining and you do not feel that it has been wasted time, you are left wanting more since the game manages to make you be inside the game

    It doesn't matter if you don't know anything about a person or you've never played their games, the game will still make you enjoy it.

    This version is totally definitive since apart from more content it implements more things and the new character is quite endearing, and thank heavens it added the Spanish language which is the language that I speak so it was quite pleasing on the part of the developers already that this was something that was criticized in Latin America and Spain.

And even further, the new abilities you can get for certain confidants are downright broken. For example, one of ryuji's abilities that he can give you basically lt's one shot foes that are lower level than you which I really don't like. It takes away from the fun gameplay when you can instantly one shot enemies. Also another super broken one is one of the twins abilities from the velvet room. They give you a ability that lets you craft personas that are a way higher level than you. Which can fundamentally can just break the game by the fourth palace because you can just easily wield a persona you can get by like the 6th palace just by befriending the two loli twins, like come on that's wack imo. Ok rant over, like don't get me wrong I really like this game but the easy ass gameplay really keeps this game from a 10 for me. Like there's still a lot I like, I think Kasumi is a great addition to p5 and the third semester is a great addition as well. the visuals also are updated and look much better than base p5. I also loved they changed the palace layouts from the og p5 so they can still keep the experience somewhat fresh. Overall, p5r is a incredible game and I do recommend this game as the definitive edition of persona 5 and should be the version you could get. But if you do care for a more challenging combat then I do recommened the original p5 and plus it's cheaper.… Expand

    This game was a blast to play. I've been wanting to play this game ever since it came out and when I finally got to play earlier this year, I had fun most of the time I was playing. There was one dungeon in the game that I didn't enjoy in the slightest, but I think the extra dungeon that Royal added at the end of the game made up for it. I long for the opportunity to wipe my brain clear of my knowledge of the game so that I could replay and rediscover it once again. Please understand the game is already one for the history books and will be remembered as a classic for years and years to come. If you’re looking for a game that respects your time, creates a beautiful and captivating story and world and allows you to befriend (and I mean actually care and truly befriend) pixelated, fictional characters then pick this game up. I’ve never had an experience in a game like I did with P5/P5R. I wish I could live the life my character experienced. I envy them. But I think part of it was how I truly felt I WAS in the game, immersed in that world and its characters. I love this game so much. Anything less than a 10 is not to be trusted.… Expand

    Honestly the best game ever made, i havent played it but i watched a playthrough on youtube and it was so good. I love how joker did the thing where he ripped his mask and was cool and used his big persona and beat the evil bald man. i think its really cool how then ryuji was fun and he then was cool and beat up the bad guy and it was cool and it made me happy when futaba ended beating herHonestly the best game ever made, i havent played it but i watched a playthrough on youtube and it was so good.     Persona 5 Royal allows players to experience the story they already love in a new way without losing any of the beauty from the original game. New and old characters get their chance to shine through and steal your heart, even the ones you never expected to. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and maybe you’ll even feel a sense of justice for the infamous Phantom Thieves in the end. But one thing you won’t feel is regret in picking up Persona 5 Royal, as it’s truly the best Persona title, if not one of the best video games, I’ve ever experienced to date.

    This is not more of the same, this is not an optional add-on to the original game. This, my friends, is the perfect experience, down to the last letter, down to the last minute. Persona 5 Royal is a Japanese crown jewel.

    All of the new additions and content mean that Persona 5 Royal is a clear upgrade to the original. New players should seek this version without hesitation, although vets may find starting the game over from scratch to be too big an ask. Either way, there’s no doubt that Persona 5 Royal sits proudly on the throne of Peak Persona… or at least it will until Atlus decides they can do even more with it.
