    Persona 5 Royal is simply a must-play for any JRPG fan, and couldn’t be a better place to start for those who have yet to delve into the genre...If you're a fan of lengthy RPGs full of interlinking systems and somehow haven't played yet, we implore you to join the Phantom Thieves -- they’re bound to steal your heart.

    From its captivating music and memorable story to its gorgeous style, every aspect of the game seems to mesh together and work incredibly well. Each piece builds up and compliments the next, until the game is justified in standing atop the RPG genre as royalty. With its release onto PC, Switch, and Xbox X|S, Persona 5 Royal will finally conquer the last locations it had been absent from, and a whole new set of gamers will get the chance to undoubtedly fall in love with this masterpiece.

    Should you play Persona 5 Royal? Yes, of course you should. Should you play it on Switch? If you’re looking for the handheld experience or only have a Switch, absolutely. It’s a stellar port. If you’re playing on your TV there are probably better options in terms of visual fidelity, but this is a great way to enjoy one of the shining stars of the JRPG genre regardless of how you go about it.

    With a just few concessions regarding the graphics of the game, ATLUS has effectively created a port of the game that's basically the spiritual successor to P4G on the PS Vita. An amazing, fun and now also portable RPG that in my opinion is only rivaled by the Steam Deck PC version.

    Persona 5 Royal is a wonderfully immersive and iconic JRPG, featuring striking, stylised visuals, fast-paced, turn-based combat, and a unique world full of captivating characters and stunning stories. Though the Switch somewhat stumbles with downscaled visual performance, it provides an otherwise smooth experience, and the novelty of being able to take the Phantom Thieves on the go is certainly a plus. Long live the phantom thieves!

    Finally, being able to play Persona 5 Royal on the go is truly a dream come true. There are some downgrades due to the limitations of the Nintendo Switch, but the balance between downgrades and retaining enjoyability has been perfected. It is, at last, time to steal some hearts while out and about.

    The real question here isn’t ‘is Persona 5 Royal’s switch version worth playing?’ It’s ‘is this a good place to pick up Persona 5 for the first time?’ The answer is a solid ‘yes.’ If you’ve never had a chance to play Persona 5 before, this is a great place to start.

    Easily one of the best RPGs of all time, the game has such an exciting world and tries to improve upon older RPG tropes set up by old RPGEasily one of the best RPGs of all time, the game has such an exciting world and tries to improve upon older RPG tropes set up by old RPG greats like Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy. The Shin Megami spin-off has always had a broad appeal thanks to the characters and mechanics, with this entry being a bit simpler than the older ones, the story is rather gripping, the mechanics of life simulation to dungeon crawling are rather fun, it is a game meant to be style first, but there is plenty of substance within it that makes the game stick the landing and rather favorable for everyone. It might drag on toward the end thanks to its lengthy story. But every minute really knows how to grip the player into wanting to push forward. The only issues I have with it might not be too much on the game's fault but rather some issues with graphics and pricing, Atlus still wants to market this and charge the standard price for this game even though it's a re-release of a game that came out for Playstation about five years ago at the time of writing (the base Persona 5 game came out in April 2017, Royal was 2020, but I still consider this Persona 5 at the end of the day). And the Switch has some of the lower quality in terms of graphics, models, and the like, but that's just a surface-level critique in my opinion others might expect more if they pay for something at that price and it looks rather poor, this doesn't really lessen the experience as much for most people due to the game just being overall fun for everyone, it's a great game and easily deserves some time if you're willing to give it that.… Expand

I've completed the story and I'm currently working through New Game+. I've found it very hard to put down. Persona 5 Royal performs much better that I was expecting on the Switch. In particular, the loading times impressed me the most. The game's transitions and loads are hardly even noticeable. i wish I could give this game a 10/10, but one nagging issue has been really irritating. When playing with the network connection enabled (for additional features), the connection will randomly disconnect. And it can be a hassle to turn back on since you have to go into Config settings to re-enable it. If you're in the middle of story content (such as a school day), you can't access immediately the config settings to re-enable it. Overall, network connectivity has been a frustrating experience, but everything else has been excellent.… Expand

The dialogue options a lot of the time don’t give you any freedom to choose. You don’t want to kill someone? **** you because you don’t get a choice. Perhaps if the game didn’t drag and actually let you do **** in the first 5 hours then it might have been half decent. There are so many better JRPG’s out there to play. Oh yea and the controls suck too. Also why in earth are half of the enemy’s from **** Megami Tensai V? Both games suck ass so it’s not surprising that they reuse enemy’s.… Expand
