This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll try my best to avoid SPOILERS, but you may eventually understand something about the ending, so I higly recommend you to read this after completing the game.

Persona 5 "Vanilla", or Persona 5, was already a masterpiece with some problems here and there, but overall one of the most funny and thrilling experience I had playing with Playstation 4.
Persona 5 Royal comes in with various improvements:
-Ammos recharging after a battle, easier social stat levelling, you can buy more gifts for confidants, phone call during the day and even more.
-New true-ending, with a new Palace and a new Memento Area.
    -New OSTs.
Graphics in combat are even more awesome than the original P5 (and I couldn't even imagine something like this), Kasumi and Akechi confidant are just great, especially the girl with her tragic background. I do love Akechi's personality too.
And I don't even know how to start a topic about the true ending.
"I Believe" is JUST F*KING AWESOME, the finale was thrilling and I was literally speecheless after the final battle. What a finale.
You-know-who has such a cool background, he was so different compared to the others. And his palace is amazing, with its magical atmosphere and thanks to "Gentle Madman" playing in background.
I am really happy and thankful to Atlus for making this game.
Now it's time for NG+, I already know that there are 2-3 cool things to do here :)

Okay so I am actually disappointed enough to have made this account on a website where no one will read this opinion because it isn't a perfect ten but I love the persona franchise and feel it needs to be said.
I enjoyed the hell out of p5 and was super hype for p5r as everyone kept saying oh new confidants, new personas, new semester, new PHANTOM THIEF...
yeah no... I saw the opening fmv

yeah no... I saw the opening fmv and thought " huh well that was... Lacking." But I said I was being pessimistic. So I checked the menu and got excited again. The dynamic menu and the music were nice and the hidden menu item was enticing, but I just wanted to get into the game.

Five minutes in and you see the new thief not that people hadn't seen her already, but the more I looked the more I though, wow she looks like joker but female with queens mask. Still pessimistic? Fine.hows this? The games new combat and overall gameplay improvements are amazing. Technical hits play more into combat, new locations and benefits to explore and abuse, new stores, confidant bonuses and even dialogue options. The new characters show up throughout the game and it's great. That's not the end of the good, but now that you've seen that there are good, understand that there are bad. The new thief isn't even available to play until the third new "semester" (we'll get to that in a bit) and she feels all the way like a self insert. Not a Mary Sue but still fanfictions.
The new confidants total 2 with one additional confidant being changed so you can actually hang with them. They aren't story important anymore. Most personas aren't even new, they've just been reclassified while new ones don't come on till endgame.

And regarding the endgame there is only ONE MONTH. That's not a whole school semester. After that month there is only a new ending sequence otherwise it's all the same. Story is beat for beat the same damn thing. You're paying for mostly just game mechanic improvements and maybe 10 hours worth of new content. 20 if you're interested in reading it. 30 if you wanna drive back and forth in mementos a bunch trying to hear a conversation about pancakes. The new SINGLE palace is cool though and the music and story building in it is bomb minus a few forced retcons. Also the new PHANTOM THIEF is the only one that gets a magical girl transformation and everyone else should have one. Also the new ending is just sequel bait for a side game and that slightly upsets me. You shouldn't waste 60 dollars on this unless you haven't played the vanilla game.

Tldr if you haven't played persona 5 yet, get it. If you have, it's up to you to decide if it's worth it. I don't think it is

Do not understand the high ratings. This game is like 90+% unchanged from the original, that came out years ago and goes for like 20$ now, and most of the changes are pretty small. I can call it a bad game because the original was good, but I sympathize with people annoyed with this one.

The good is the freedom is way more in this compared to 5. The story is pretty much identical to 5 but with enhancements and a couple of other extra things. Which means more boring school life and social links too. It NEEDS way more dungeon and gameplay rather than filler dialogue.

If you didn't play original 5, pick it up. If you already did play 5, wait for a sale unless you actually liked 5. This feels more or less like a casual friendly game in especially when in comparison to other SMT titles. Persona 5 Royal is a step up from the original but not much else.

The best part though about this all was the Strange Journey DLC. Now that was epic. Not to mention Raidou Kuzunoha Outfits, Persona 3 Outfits, Persona 2 Outfits, SMT: IF, SMT:4 and Catherine Outfits are free this time. So you can hear some of the best battle themes now for free. If it wasn't for those I'd lower my score by 1. Some soundtracks are a hit but others are a miss.

Persona 5 Royal is by far one of the best JRPG out there. Everything about Royal is just amazing, they added in new playable characters, new confidants, new places to visit on your free time and new personas as well. For those of you who's a big fan of JRPG you should give Persona 5 Royal a try. The game is downright charming with it's stylistic art style, amazing soundtrack to unique gameplay and challenging boss fights. But one of the thing I wanted to highlight about the game is how great the story is. All I could said is that this is a game that you would not want to miss if you're a huge JRPG fan or a fan to the persona franchise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I liked the game but I also didn't like it at the same time. I feel that the game-play and dungeon design is phenomenal however I feel that the story is kind of stupid, that characters are bland and that the themes and pacing are all over the place. I go in depth about it in my video review of the game on YouTube that is 35 minutes long but I thought I would review it over here so that it's seen by more people.
I dislike the story quite a bit and a lot of the dungeons are boring or are out of place within the story and don't seem to keep with the core ideals and themes of the plot. I played the game right off of the tail end of playing my two favorite games of all time (Persona 4 Golden and Valkyria Chronicles 2) and in every way when it comes to the plot it feels like a step down from the story telling of Persona 3 and 4 and VC2 just has a great plot no matter what some may say. I went into it hoping for an experience I'd remember for a long while but two weeks after beating it I don't remember a single social link or scene other than the stuff at the end compared to P4 to which I think about nearly every day.
I do not feel that it deserves the 10/10s people are giving it and don't get me wrong I still liked it but I just simply don't have many fond memories of playing it. I feel that the flaws the game has need to be addressed in the reviews here and I feel that too many of them are just "it's so good look at the UI." I feel that people should still definitely play it but not look at it as the all-time best Persona game or RPG ever because it isn't. It is the only game I have ever pre-ordered and I regret being swept up in the hype and doing so because it was a disappointment for me because I expected more from it.

Perhaps one of the after summer palaces is a bit annoying (don't want to spoil anything), but still, it's an almost perfect game, a game that I recommend not only to JRPG fans, I recommend the game to everyone! Yeah, it's long, very long. But is that bad? It would be if it became tedious at some point, but for me it doesn't...

So yeah, story and characters are amazing, dungeons are great, and the turn-based system is also almost perfect. There are also some amazing musical themes in the game, some songs are unforgettable. It also has many difficulty settings, so you can play the one that suits you the most, whether you want to just play the story or have some challenging battles.

As a tiny negative point, I think that the game can feel overwhelming at the beginning. The first couple of hours are very linear, but after that, you are given a lot of freedom, and you may not know what to do. You just have to get used to it... You will very quickly, at least I did.

I don't know, this game is almost flawless, one I will never forget.

It's a very text and story heavy RPG with a plot that is only ok on paper but is elevated to something near perfection thanks to the the characters and how you come to know them. The story's biggest strength is how the characters are written and how they interact with one another. it feels like hanging out with your own friends and it becomes very addicting getting to know them. The gameplay loop of hanging out with your confidants, maxing out your attributes, and using it all in dungeon runs is incredibly addicting. This game is for people looking for a character driven story role playing game, and is a perfect introduction Japanese role playing games in general, as it features many classic tropes (mainly in its combat) while doing many things unique to the series (the highschool simulation). It's such a good introduction to JRPGs that it may be hard to play others without holding them to the same high standards set here. Persona 5 Royal does an incredible job fixing all of these and brings so much more to the table. With the addition of two new Characters Kasumi and Maruki, it makes the end of the game perfect. The 3rd semester is the best part of the game from it’s incredible story telling to amazing music and of course the best boss battle in the whole game. This game also fixes issues from the previous games with a reworked battle system, a better and faster tutorial section and making Akechi a confidant that you have to rank up rather than story progression. Palaces have also been reworked for the inclusion of Jokers new grappling hook and the new Will seeds that grant you a special item that adds a powerful move to your arsenal. This fixes one of my biggest issues with vanilla P5 which was Okumuras Palace. It is entirely reworked and is way more enjoyable. Mementos has changed for the better as well; a new character Jose can change mementos cognition if you bring him stamps which give you the option to increase your EXP, Gold, and item gain as well as bringing him flowers you find along the path that you can trade in for some great items. But the biggest fix to Persona 5 Royal is Morgana will not tell you to go to sleep as often. This was so helpful for my first play through as I could hang out with confidants or raise my skill stats easier. Of course you will have to go to sleep after every trip to a palace or mementos but you can still use a certain confidant to be able to go out after. This has become my Favorite game of all time and I believe it is eligible for Game of the year. 10/10 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Persona 5 Royal enhances an already near-perfect experience into a masterpiece.

I feel that some people just judge the Royal changes on its own, rather than examining the changes and additions to the base Persona 5. As Persona 5 Royal is an elevated experience prior to its vanilla counterpart.

The changes to have more freedom at night and adjustment with dates to include more events and free days allow you to experience more that Royal has to to offer. The inclusion of the new Kichijoji is the prime example, that also alludes to deeper gameplay mechanics, as the technical and baton pass system have been reworked, and in turn weakness exploits slightly nerfed, to make them more rewarding in battle. In which all of these are locked behind darts and billiards which are both enjoyable experiences in-game.

While Persona 5 Royal can feel superficially the same, there are subtle areas that have been tweaked as quality of life, or better gameplay. For example, as stated the technical damage buffs now encourage you to find persona with ailment skills so you can trigger technicals. Which thus makes Ann a reasonable choice to keep when Yusuke joins the party, and it also makes Makoto better as she gets more value from her ailment apart from her already versatile kit. Speaking of Yusuke, he falls of in the vanilla game due to not have a charge ability unlike Ryuji, but because of the Jazz club he can learn charge and thus not fall off as much in the later stages of the game. Little changes like this provide far-reaching ramifications that may not be noticed straight away, and since Royal is filled with small changes, all it does is make the Persona 5 experience even greater than what it already was.

The style still holds true but the new music tracks help to further provide a fresh experience. The integration of Kasumi and Maruki are fantastic and adds new colour to the already stellar cast. Their stories are intriguing they have admirable personalities as well as great designs.
The third semester or the real Royal content really hit different. It was seamlessly incorporated and masterfully executed, with the idea of finding your true reality being extremely profound and had me taking a break to ponder for a bit, before ultimately playing the game to seek answers and cure my angst. I loved that Maruki's persona originated from the Cthulhu Mythos then Jewish mysticism, both inciting topics for further research.

Persona 5 Royal is a masterful tale of staying true to your beliefs and reality and doing what you can to make things right. Persona 5 Royal is legendary JRPG experience.

P5R's gameplay is truly the best I've seen It makes the Turn-based combat fun and rewarding where the battle mechanics have been adjusted to the point the game starts feeling easy even on final boss fight I played on normal and I felt that the game was holding my hand from start to finish those who are looking for a challenge should pump the difficulty to Max, now for the social sim mode of the game a lot there are multiple activities that you can do so you'll never feel bored, but the main point are the confidant there mostly fun some of them can feel corny but the three new ones outshine all the rest there so well-written that I felt bad when I finished them early so I gotta give the gameplay a 5/5 there's nothing left to say

the story and characters are where it bites the dust for the first half you experience a story that fails in holding everything together the entire phantom thieves get the spotlight in their own respective arcs after that the story won't pay attention to them and neither will you unless you're doing their social links and you'll better do because otherwise, they'll get zero development as for the villains most of them are bland the only interesting one is the new content villain as for the others they just appear, you go beat them, then they apologize that's all. if I was 15 years old this would have been so good for me, too bad I've seen better narrative the new content is when the game starts giving a damn about the villans as two characters become the stars of the show giving you a decent climax I found myself enjoying this 30 hours but that's not even half the playtime of the first half.
story 2/5 I've already seen the first half is still very boring and it takes almost the entire screentime

The original was easily one of the best RPG's to come out in the last decade and this version only makes the game better. However, how much enjoyment will someone who played through the original once or twice since it came out 3 years ago? In a word, ALOT.
Starting with probably the biggest addition to the game, the new character, Kasumi, and the other new confidant, Maruki, are very big additions that both go towards the new 3rd semester that unlocks after the main campaign is completed. No spoilers, but the biggest disappointment to that is Kasumi is not playable until that point, which is already about 100 hours into the game. Both new characters are introduced during the main game but have very little impact outside of a revised cutscene at the beginning. For people who played the first game a lot, it can be a bit disappointing to know that you have to complete the game yet again to see anything from the new character and how she performs, but it's all worth it once you finally get to the new content at the end. The game does just enough to keep you aware of these two characters and with their respective confidant paths throughout the original story, to make sure their impact is felt in a big way once the new semester starts. And the new story elements in the 3rd semester are very well done. Its not the most original idea I've ever heard of, but it works well in the grand scheme of things.
Outside of the new semester, the new area, Kichijoji, is probably where you'll spend the majority of your time outside of the original locations. The addition of the darts and billiards bar as an element to increase a few now very important battle mechanics is smart and keeps things fun. It also includes a Jazz club to give your teammates a bit more moves to select from to increase their combat capability.
The battle system has had some tweaks that work out well in the end. Technical damage and the baton pass are much more important mechanics this time around as some of the personas had their weaknesses taken away and this is the only way to down them for extra damage. Combined with the new Showtime attacks, the battle system feels a lot more fluid and makes a few old mechanics mean a whole lot more now.
If Persona 5 was one of the best JRPG's in years, then this game only serves to make it better. Atlus does a fine job with these updated games, starting with the P3 game for PSP and P4:Golden for the Vita. This is no exception and something that I can recommend for literally anyone who enjoys JRPG's even in the slightest way. Even long time fans of P5 should find a ton of enjoyment from this. I really hope that Atlus will continue to use Kasumi as canon for the entire storyline going fowards, as I really liked her and the story they came up with for her. For anyone who might be stuck at home right now and not have anything to do, the 120+ hours this will take to complete should be an absolute godsend right now. And a special comment for how easy this game is to Platinum. One playthrough doing everything right will get you the Platinum trophy for this easy. I didn't have to go out of my way to get anything done that I wasn't already doing and, if you take the confidant paths correctly, you'll have tons of time to get them all done towards the end of the game.

Because of this crime, he is transferred to Tokyo to go to a new school. However, on his first day, he gets pulled into another dimension and gets a power called Persona. He and his future friends then use this power to become Phantom Thieves that steal the hearts of corrupt adults to change society.

As for the gameplay, it follows standard RPG format. Combat is turn-based battles where you can use your Personas to attack enemies and exploit their weaknesses for fun combat. The menus for your actions that you can perform are all heavily stylized, which makes getting into combat worth it just to see them. Outside of combat, you live the life of a Japanese high schooler. You have free time throughout the days to hang out with your friends, go to school, work at jobs, or improve your social skills. Doing those things helps you when you are a phantom thief. They can give you special bonuses or abilities that makes your job of reforming society easier.

In my opinion, this game is worth every cent, probably even more, that you spend on it. I love that the plot gives you a great feeling of actually reforming society and keeping you on your toes for doing the right thing. The combat and phantom thief gameplay are really satisfying and allow you to approach situations in many different ways. The daily life gameplay acts as a nice counterbalance to the other parts of the game and gives you great character interactions and a really good reason to care about the world you are trying to save.

tldr; the game is near, if not already, perfect and I would highly recommend anyone with a PS4 to get it.

But besides the fact that it is easier, it also requires a lot less work to actually complete the game, to my experience. That's because Mona doesn't demand us to sleep too often anymore and Confidants rank much faster, again, to my experience. Currently I'm at Second Palace and Ryuji is already at Rank 7 (out of 10). This makes the game a lot more fun in my opinion, because it gives a larger sense of progress and you can enjoy much more gameplay in the first playthrough compared to Persona 5 Vanilla.

Changes start FROM THE BEGINNING. The whole game was enhanced, with many smail details that players that enjoyed the vanilla P5 will notice and love. They even took the time to make characters that didn't seem exist till their arcs appear in some interactions before. You will see them at school, or even walking behind you when you eavesdrop other students when going to school. Did any of those that complain notice it? Probably not, but it's not a game for such people. The amount of detail this game has is something that overcomes their capabilities.
The whole game is a piece of art. Musically awesome (some new songs here too), visually better, now characters have more portraits showing different expressions, new and expanded confidants, cutscenes, activities and places. Some UI tweaks, multi language for people that can't speak English (or Japanese). More Personas and Arcanas. Existing dungeons and bosses had some changes to make them better.
Mementos, which got tiring in the original game as it was too dense and always the same, now was revamped too with many updates, it's actually fun going there! Even the title screen is so much cooler now, the inclusion of the thieves den to have some ingame achievements to unlock and check other stuff like in Persona 4 Golden.
What people complained about so much was solved: Morgana is not bothering you every night telling you to go to sleep which lets you do more activities at night!
Also the English translation had some text tweaked for the better.

It's not for everyone, it's a text heavy game and I understand that some people with short attention span won't like it, but it doesn't make it bad at all. It's a masterpiece. It's Stylesona Enhanced.

Best game for quarantine season you'll get a lot of hours out of this. It's a long game but the way the character arcs are set make it seem fine so much to do and almost none of it is boring. Played p5 but playing this, it really does feel like the definitive version of the game.

By far the best PS4 game of all time, it's a remake on an already amazing JRPG. For real??!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TL;DR Newcomer? Buy it. P5 owner? Wait.

I'ma be honest. I have a love-hate relationship with base Persona 5. Although the graphics are incredible (the best looking SMT game until SMT5 comes out) and the soundtrack's a banger, the story, characters and social links are all a**. Base P5's story is really predictable and it's by far, the worst SMT story I have ever seen. Like Persona 4, the characters are all braindead (minus Haru, Futaba and maybe Akechi?) and rely on optional social links. Remember Okumura's Palace in base P5? Yeah, terrible. And let's not forget about Morgana. He sucks. F****** Teddie is more tolerable than him. IMO, base P5's severely disappointing. While it's good in some parts (Kamoshida), the overall game is worse than most of the Persona series and all of the mainline SMT games. Now, you may be wondering "Bet, there's gonna be a version similar to P3 FES and P4G that fixes all of the problems that ruined P5." You're right. That's where the royal treatment comes in.

Persona 5 Royal is essentially a rerelease of P5 with new content and QOL changes. The new characters are great, except for one. Jose wanders around Mementos helping you out. You're able to craft items via flowers and can trade in will seeds (new collectable in palaces). He's useless imo, you can just remove him from the game and it will literally be the same. Kasumi* is the "main addition" in P5R, like Marie in P4G, the Answer in P3 FES and FeMC in P3P. When she was introduced, I found her kinda unlikeable like Marie because she was just there and served no purpose to the plot. But once you get to September/October her story arc finally develops and we finally know her past(let's just say, it's pretty dark, check 1). Overall, she's a great addition to the cast (about that, it still relies on slinks, just not as much as base P5). As for Maruki(the therapist), he's the best written character/antagonist in years. YEARS. The last time we got a fantastic Persona character was Akihiko from Persona 3 and that was in 2006. It's been 14 years since we got a well written character and they finally did it. Great job Atlus.

About those QOL changes and the other new additions, there are a lot of them and they're really good. For instance, the game is now PS4 Pro enhanced (It runs at 4K30) which is a plus if you have a 4K TV. You have your own palace where you can look at character models, listen to the OST and play President with your fellow comrades. Kichijoji, an iconic area in the MegaTen series, make its first appearance in the Persona subseries, where you can go to a bar and play darts and billiards. Ammo is restocked after every battle (I honestly hate this change because I kinda like using the limited resources I have to defeat the dungeon). Haru and Akechi are much more likeable now because of their extra screen time, especially Akechi. And finally, Morgana, the annoying sped cat, is much less annoying now. He'll give you more time to do stuff now instead of asking you to go the f*** to sleep. This should be a 10, right? Nope.

Most of P5's major problems are still here. LIke base P5, all of the characters (minus the same 3 I mentioned before plus 3rd Semester Kasumi and Maruki) heavily rely on leveling up their Social Links. Although the 3rd semester plot's amazing, everything before it is mostly the same(pretty predictable) but with better pacing and the addition of Kasumi and Maruki as NPCs. Morgana's still a r******* p**** and Okumura's Spaceport, the worst dungeon in any SMT game, remains untouched. For me, it's a solid 9/10 for me. It improves upon the original source and adds a bunch of new stuff so that it feels fresh and not just a "Persona 5 Rerelease". However, there's one thing that might make longtime Persona fans wait a while and why my score's an 8 instead of a 9: The price.

I agree that this shouldn't be DLC or an expansion for base P5. It adds a bunch of new stuff and changes the overall experience of the game. But no way in hell am I paying $60 ($80 in Canada) for what's essentially Persona 5($20 rn) with 15-20 hours of new content. If they add in a prologue about Kasumi before she died or an epilogue about the Shujin Crew, including Futaba and Sumire, then maybe it's worth full price. But if you already own P5 and haven't preordered P5R but still want a game, buy a different game. I just can't recommend it at this price.

Overall, P5R is a great game and a great rerelease. Although the base game's problems still linger on, the addition of Kasumi and Maruki, plus the QOL changes and enhancements all make up for it. If this is your first time playing any JRPG or Persona, or if you're a veteran SMT fan dipping their toes into the Persona series, go for it. But if you already own P5, the amount of new content doesn't justify the hefty price tag. You guys should wait.

    * It's actually Sumire, who's the younger **** twin, the real Kasumi died in a car crash

    Intro

Persona 5 Royal is a remake of the popular JRPG from 2017. Built from the ground up to work on PS4 unlike the original that was built with the PS3 in mind, P5R grabs the core concepts to try to build up to something greater than the original. While some might see this as a cash grab, is Royal able to stand on its two feet as a worthy addition in the franchise?

    Story/World Building - 3/3

The story stays largely the same until the last 20 hours or so with minor script fixes and story elements, which are put in to help the new segment flow better with the rest of the story. Nothing feels unnatural with the new changes. Everything is done for the betterment of the game and I would have not noticed anything was off if this was my first time experiencing the story. It can get a bit boring and long-winded if you played through the story before but this depends on how much you care about fixes and the new story being presented. It turns a great story into a better one that is worth your time even if you have played the original.

    Gameplay – 4/4

The new gameplay addition is where Royal really shines. The overhauled baton pass system makes fights quick and snappy. Exploring palaces is more fun due to the addition of Will Seeds - collectibles scattered throughout that give out great items and abilities to use if you find all of them. Mementos is even overhauled with the addition of collectibles that help give additional boosts in XP, items, and money, making Mementos exploration more fun than it has ever been. New side activities like playing darts to level up baton pass stats, going to the jazz club to get additional abilities, and going to the temple to meditate to gain more SP are all welcome additions. A game that gives you so much to do, you won’t see it all within one playthrough. You are also given more time to do these activities with the addition of not having Morgana tell you to go to sleep and the addition of 2 more months of game time added to the overall package. You can take breaks from the main game with the immensely fun addition of the thieves den, which allows you to hang out with your follow Phantom Thieves, playing card games, look at concept art, mess around with player models and customize your own palace. More stuff is unlocked through achievements made within the main game, adding more time and replay value to the game. The gameplay outshines the amazingly fun and additive first outing, making for a game that goes above and beyond in areas that I thought could not get better.

    Technical/Performance – 3/3

Graphics fidelity upgrades are present within the game but some might not notice just casually playing through it. It looks as clean as the original with a few tweaks here and there to spruce it up. The real amazing technical achievement of Royal is its soundtrack. I love the music in the original but the new tracks outshines those as well. P5R is a highly polished technical marvel, especially when compared to other RPGs on the market.

    Verdict

Persona 5 Royal is arguably the game Persona 5 should have been in the first place. I can understand that the PS3 did limit what they could do with the title but this is still a $60 re-release of a game that already on PS4. If you’re a huge fan of Persona or never played Persona 5, I can’t recommend this game enough. It’s almost flawless in every aspect and it’s a crowning achievement for what RPG can be. For everyone that does not fall within those two categories, I recommend waiting for a heavy price cut. I still would recommend this game to anyone who played the original but not for a full 60 dollars. I honestly gave the original Persona 5 a 10/10 and if I could give Royal a higher rating I would.

Persona 5 Royal allows players to experience the story they already love in a new way without losing any of the beauty from the original game. New and old characters get their chance to shine through and steal your heart, even the ones you never expected to. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and maybe you’ll even feel a sense of justice for the infamous Phantom Thieves in the end. But one thing you won’t feel is regret in picking up Persona 5 Royal, as it’s truly the best Persona title, if not one of the best video games, I’ve ever experienced to date.

This is not more of the same, this is not an optional add-on to the original game. This, my friends, is the perfect experience, down to the last letter, down to the last minute. Persona 5 Royal is a Japanese crown jewel.

All of the new additions and content mean that Persona 5 Royal is a clear upgrade to the original. New players should seek this version without hesitation, although vets may find starting the game over from scratch to be too big an ask. Either way, there’s no doubt that Persona 5 Royal sits proudly on the throne of Peak Persona… or at least it will until Atlus decides they can do even more with it.
