Одна из лучших, если не лучшая игра на PS4. Превосходный сюжет, хорошо прописанные персонажи, шикарный Геймплей, стиль, саундтрек на уровне Death Stranding, если не лучше.

A game that improves on every aspect of the original Persona 5, and somehow manages to keep it fresh even if you've played the original. A must play and potential GOTY for 2020.

100% worth it for the quality of life changes, and the free themes you get for getting every trophy in the game. The way they fleshed out characters from the original even more and the way the new characters integrate into the story is so well done. And also it comes with gosh dang Daifugo (Tycoon in the game) which is always a fun time

Persona 5 was one of my favorite games of 2017, and royal did not disappoint on making a masterpiece, even better.

My main complaint about persona 5 vanilla, was that the plot could've been a lot better, considering only a few parts really surprised me, and a few characters needed to be more well built. Royal fixed both of those flaws (mostly), and made the combat system even better. It added a few characters, with two outstanding ones, being Maruki and Kasumi, which I think are some of the best written characters in the entire game. This is a great modern JRPG that you can't miss out if you like the genre, being very remarkable and fun.
This game implements the time management better than any other game I've ever played (alongside Fire Emblem Three Houses), and the aesthetics for this game are the most remarkable I've ever seen.
The Maruki arc, introduced in royal, was probably the best one story wise, and the ending was much better than the original's.
Well I only said good things about this game, but my reasoning for why it's 9/10 instead of 10/10, is because, once you get used to the flashy visuals, the game starts losing it's style, and you start noticing it's flaws. The story could still be a bit better, some characters are annoying, and it's way too long. Okumura's arc sucked, and that's pretty much all I have to say about this game, a masterpiece indeed.

And that is another think, the confidants (or social links) have added newer features that make it more worth while to hang out with each character. Another feature that made this game more re-playable is the Thieves den, which has it own achievement wall that unlocks artwork, model statues and displayed that can be places in the museum area and videos related to the game.

    Pros:
    - Loveable (for the most part), different characters
    - Intriguing story
    - Very well thought-out combat
    - Lots of different options to increase your social stats, so it's not just braindead farming untitl everything is maxed out. You can read books, play video games, go to the gym, the cinema, take part in burger eating competitions and lots of other things.
    - Great enemy design: Apart from bosses pretty much every minor as well as major enemy has a weakness that you can use to either negotiate to make them join you as a Persona for you to use or extort them for money or items. Bosses however are a different thing as most of them don't have a weakness, but you can still inflict status ailments on them and have a chance for a technical which basically works like "hit the weakness" attack, but with a lot more damage under certain circumstances.

    Cons:
    - You can't skip cut- and story scenes, all you can do is fast forward
    - You can revive everyone else, but if your main dies it's game over which is especially annoying in the early parts of the game because enemies can basically one-shot you like this.
    - Some characters join you really late in the game so they're naturally far behind on confidant levels which of course not a game breaker, but still a bit annoying since some of them only stay for a while.

    TL;DR
It's a fanastic game and if you're into turn-based rpgs this is the one where you absolutely get your moneys worth. I've spend well over 200 hours on Persona 5 and my playthroug on Persona 5 Royal will probably also be around 100 hours. Platinum included, but still.

This can be one of the best JRPG you can ever play. If you didn't play Persona 5 Original before.

Everything about P5 Royal is with updated system and gameplay. Some bad and some has been changed due to new stories been added.

To first timers, this isn't much of an issue. Gameplay changed much easier and faster for those new comers. I don't see much of problem with that.

However, real issue I encountered was frustration playing the Royal.

I think those who already finished the original P5 wanted to see how the additional character fits in with already perfect P5 characters. There was really high expectation of new girl who's dancer name Kasumi(Sumire ;)p)). Well? It really pissed me off and made me angry at Atlus for the first time.
This really showed how not to just add somebody just to sell more copies of your game.

Kasumi is attractive and pretty girl and had very high expectation, but Atlus just didn't seem to know when to utilize her character in this game.

They let you play her very little in the end and decided not let you play her at all until the end.

Yes, of course P5 we already experience who's the final and the real boss is and what memento is for. P5 Royal plays out the same and by the time they let you play Kasumi, you will be just tired to play this long game. your line up for the boss is already perfect and there will be no room for low leveled Kasumi and Akechi fits in. All the items and equipments are already planned out and your mind is already done with this game by the time Atlus let you play her.

Me? I just put her in my bench and never looked back. I skipped through boring dialogues and was hoping to reach March to end the game.

I gave 10/10 on Original P5 and loved the characters and even bought Strikers.

I'm hoping I won't fall for P6 updated version after release of original.

Atlus just doesn't respect those who already purchased first game.

I actually quit half way through the game because it was getting annoying. I watched the rest online. However, the story is so amazing that I can't give this game lower than an 8. I have never loved a group of video game characters more than the ones in this game; Akechi, Ryuji, Futaba, Makoto, and Morgana are favorites, but the other characters are still great. I won't spoil how, but the counselor, Maruki, is one of my favorites also. It wasn't until I played/watched the whole game, including the new semester (you have to level up Maruki's confidant scale and other things to access it, so look up a non-spoiler guide beforehand), that I loved his character though. I was surprised when I found out he wasn't in the original game (not even as a small role). Overall, I would highly recommend playing or at least watching this game (I found out after quitting and deleting the game that safe mode might fix the problems I had with checkpoints, so maybe play on that if you're like me (I usually play games on normal or hard)). As somebody who had previously been very much not into JRPGs of any kind, picking this game up was something I never imagined I would do. But, on seeing some gameplay online I can say it was probably only around several minutes before I was hanging off of every word, entirely engrossed and before I knew it, was purchasing the game on the Playstation Store.

Having now finished Persona 5 Royal, I very much find it hard to adequately put into words how spectacular an experience I had with the game. The story was entrancing, shocking, emotional, but most importantly, crafted to perfection. The characters feel relatable, larger than life, they can make you laugh, cry, love, hate, and everything in between. The world in which the game takes place is again masterful, accuracy to real life Tokyo regarding the overworld is impressive, and the various palaces and the Mementos Areas often provoke a lot of thought in how you wish to approach each area/room. In short, The way the game looks, how everything is presented is truly a marvel and is without doubt one of the greatest works of art I have ever experienced.

I’ve delivered high praise, but I haven’t even managed to discuss the soundtrack yet. Considering everything the game has to offer already being nothing short of spectacular, what really brings everything together is the music. Ambience, joy, anger, fear and any other emotion or vibe one can care to name are harnessed and conveyed in a stunning array of musical arrangements, from vocal tracks to instrumentals, I can not fault a single song in the slightest, I fell for each as i heard it.

I can’t convey my praise for this game much more than I have done, but to summarise, whether you are a fan of the Persona series, or JRPGs in general, or somebody who has previously never indulged in the genre, Persona 5 Royal completes what was an already masterful work in the original Persona 5, and I would recommend it to absolutely anyone who wants to find themselves lost in a game for hours at a time. 10/10, 5 Stars, however one can give the highest praise for a game, this one has it all.

Persona 5 Royal improves almost every aspect of Persona 5 to the point that the original feels unpolished. There's no reason to play the original Persona 5 when Royal exist. There's no reason to play the original Persona 5 when Royal exist. The combat feels satisfying with Baton Pass feeling a lot more useful. The life sim aspect got easier to manage, confidant previously only accessible by story now can be access manually. Kichijoji is a nice addition on the already numerous places you can visit (The Darts is my favorite), Maruki and "Kasumi" is a good addition to the game. Thieves den gives a pretty good reward for completing the game and certain achievements with the interaction between characters and the Tycoon minigame makes the place not lacking in content. And the new dungeon are the best out of all dungeons in Persona 5 Royal. Of course this game isn't without criticism. First, what makes Persona 5 bad is still here. Yes, Morgana is still as annoying as ever but they've toned down the annoyance to make it more bearable. But the story is still the same, even the Okumura arc is still terrible compared to the others. Also, the new part of the story distorts the original meaning of the story. The story now feel less about reforming society and more abut self-freedom. Which is a good and a bad thing. The good part is that the ending gives the original story an fresh update over the original story. The bad part is that now the story feels off compared to the rest of the arc. The DLC is TERRIBLE! Please even if you want to. It's just not worth it. For ANOTHER $60 you just got the Costume and the Battle Trial is not even worth it. So do yourself a favor and just download the original P5 DLC. And the last part is the technical of the game. It's still Persona 5. That means the game is still a PS3 game in it's heart, and it shows. While yes the game runs at 4K on Pro, the lack of anti aliasing on the 3d element and the 30fps cap on the game makes it kinda lazy. But then again the art is so gorgeous that the problem kinda being offset a little. Still whether you like it or not, the improvements that this game brings to the table makes it worth it for new players and veterans to play. Yeah the original problem is still there but the new stuff and improvements makes this game truly, the definitive Persona 5 Royal. But it left one thing, What about the original? Well, if you've played the game while the improvements are very nice, it still not that necessary especially when the price of Royal is ~$60. Whereas the original is $20. My final verdict is pick it up if you're new to the series, but for everyone else. That's it for my review and see you later. Expand

Persona 5 was something akin to the FF7 of the modern day. Revolutionizing a genre with a creative world and story. Where P5 fell short, Royal picks it up and delivers the underlining theme of Plato's cave with something that hits closer to home than the original edition. P5 was a 9/10 for me, but Royal ends up with a perfect 10/10.

Everything from the characters, the style, the music and the combat instantly clicked with me. Certainly not a flawless masterpiece, but its issues are pretty easy to ignore when everything else is of such high quality. Hearing the announcement of an updated re-release of the game with new content, characters and quality of life changes made excited all over again. I'm happy to say that Persona 5 Royal is still well worth the purchase, especially if you haven't played the original up to this point.

The core story of P5R is essentially the same as last time. You play as a ragtag team of misfits that gain incredible abilities and use them to change the hearts of corrupted adults. You explore various dungeons within an allotted time period, while also juggling your school work and social life. There are many unique additions made to the story, however. There's a new girl in town named Kasumi, a gymnastics prodigy, and Dr. Maruki, the newly hired school councilor. While not going into spoilers, the two slowly begin to play an integral role in the story. There are also new places to explore around the city with new hangout spots for you and your friends, and a few of the characters even have updated arcs that you can engage with. There were even improvements made to the localization and additional dialogue was recorded where needed. Following the completion of vanilla, you will also be treated to an additional month and dungeon, adding on another 10+ hours of gameplay. The same story issues that were present in the original (excessive repetition, forced drama, overly explaining things) are sadly still present in Royal, but they don't ruin what is ultimately an engaging, character-driven narrative filled with some of the most likeable and fun characters in an RPG. Voice acting continues to remain top notch and the incredible soundtrack is still a joy to listen to.

The changes also extend to the gameplay as well. As far as dungeons are concerned, they aren't too heavily modified outside of the addition of grappling hooks (which honestly don't add to much but does aid in sneaking up on enemies), and hidden Will Seeds that you can collect and exchange later for items. Battles, on the other hand, have received a noticeable upgrade. The baton pass mechanic that allows you to switch to other party members after exploiting a weakness is now unlocked from the get-go rather than building up confidants with each party member to unlock them. There are also several new stylish showtime attacks where two party members can pull of a powerful, often ridiculous finisher that can deal serious damage to enemies. The combat was already great before, but these additions make it all that much sweeter. The Velvet Room has also received a few new upgrades. There's a new Alarm fusion mechanic where, every time an alarm goes off, you have the chance to fuse together more powerful personas. The catch here is that you can only perform each type of fusion once before things start to get unpredictable. There are also additional challenges you can complete in the Velvet Room that offer additional rewards. The procedurally generated dungeon Mementos introduces Jose, a kid that will offer you items and buffs in exchange for flowers and stamps scattered about (as well as the aforementioned Will Seeds). He's not really integral to the story, he's simply there to make exploration and leveling up much easier while you're down there. Max out EXP percentage gain as early as possible. It will make level grinding so much easier. Sad to say, however, that you can no longer cheese the Reaper (boo).

Persona 5 Royal is everything that made the original great made even better. It is by far the best version of the game, and anybody who hasn't already experienced it should definitely do so, especially if this is your first time experiencing the game. It remains as one of the best RPGs of its generation, and high bar for other JRPGs to meet.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Royal was a great expansion for the game that fixes many of the smaller problems of the game while adding in a new section of the game. These fixes include Will Seeds, Jose in Mementos, and more opportunities to level up social stats. While I agree that $60 for a rerelease that doesn't add in $60 worth of content isn't worth it for many people. but I don't consider price point as a factor for the quality of a game. The new character additions were a great add, but I'm sure many wished for more time with her and Akechi than what was actually given.

Speaking of fixes, the Will Seeds were great for people who liked to complete the palace in a single day, and were great to add in different effects as an accessory too. Mementoes in the original game felt boring and just another activity to put off, but in Royal they completely fixed that by Jose's stamp system allowing easy XP and money when combined with Ryuji's Instakill ability. The grappling hook was a nice addition, but served no significant purpose other than just a style factor. Furthermore, the addition of persona traits truly appeals to players who love fusing to create the perfect powerhouse persona. Along with that, the new battle mechanics such as disaster shadows, an improved technical damage system, baton pass improvements, and showtimes were all wonderful additions to the game.

Maruki was a well-designed villain that really differed against the typical targets of the Phantom Thieves. He added a nice ambiguity of a moral decision of fake happiness. The added music in his palace truly fits with his theme and the music added just from Royal only supplemented the emotional ideology within Maruki. His ideology with the struggles of the team really created an internal struggle within the player.

I didn't play the original persona 5 and this is my first entry into the series. I will be going back and playing persona 4 golden after this, among other Atlus games because I was such a fan of this. First off, the soundtrack is unlike any other soundtrack for any game that I've ever personally experienced. Sometimes I would find myself just jamming during a boss fight because the intensity is so high and the music is straight up BUMPING I can't not enjoy the music. After that, the characters are all great. Some are a little under done such as Haru, her actual plot isn't introduced until hilariously late in the story but she's still great. Some of the characters are overwhelmingly dumb for the sake of the game being able to explain the metaphors that are currently happening in the game. At first it really annoyed me, but by the end it really started to grew on me and I started to have a lot of fun with it. The only real issue I have with the game is the 5th boss you have to fight in this version for whatever reason, is such an insane difficulty spike. It's almost hard to describe. I tried the boss fight for probably over 3-4 hours and I could never beat it and that was on easy. Given I know I'm definitely not the best and I more than likely didn't build up my confidants enough to really make that possible. Instead of going back I decided to turn it down to safe which you can't undo and you literally can't die anymore in the game and I also downloaded free persona 4 content which gives you personas from that game and some of them are like level 90 and they basically break the game at that point. It kind of took the fun out of it at first and then I realized that the turn-based combat is not really why I play the game. It's way more for the story, characters, and the other life-sim elements that make the game special. I mean one of my favorite parts in the game is when you go to Hawaii on a school trip and there's nothing going on other than just hanging out with your friends and the possibility of romancing whoever your most advanced female confidants. However most of the boss battles are extremely gratifying by the end of them and do make you feel genuinely accomplished because sometimes they can take an absurd amount of time. It didn't really bother me in the end though. And really if I could have any issue is that somehow Persona 5 Scramble (the sequel) hasn't had the english dubbing yet so it hasn't been released in the states and I wanna continue this storyline with these exact characters so much it pains me almost. But that's not really an issue. Overall though, even though some of these issues might look substantial. I overlooked them quite easily because the rest of the game is so amazing. This game is probably one of my favorite games of all time. And easily in the top 5 PS4 games. So if you're looking for a game to really spend time on, this is your answer. My play-through took about 93 hours and that's on the short end compared to other people I know. I literally can't recommend this game enough. 10/10 Expand

Persona 5 is really a great game, and thus P5R that is based on P5 cannot be too bad. However, I must say that the additional story for P5R is in my opinion not up to par with the original story, with the new story and new character being a bit "awkward" to the main story line of P5. Otherwise the new and modified mechanisms of P5R are great and make the game more enjoyable.

All the people who have given negative reviews haven't gotten access to the new content. Without spoiling anything, in the original game, you traverse a total of 8 levels or as they call them in the game, palaces. Each Palace is designed differently and they are all fairly big with quite a few areas to explore. In Persona 5 Royal, you can get an additional 9th Palace to complete if you meet some criteria, I won't say much here in case it might be considered a spoiler, but just remember to build your relationships/confidants in the game. Overall, the game is a masterpiece; I don't understand why some people don't like the story because they got the bad ending (There are of 3 endings with 3 more being added in Royal.) To get the right ending, more specifically the true ending, just choose what you think is right. The relationships and connections you build with characters is something that's really special, you feel like you're actually part of the Phantom Thieves and going on adventures with them. Even though it doesn't seem like it will be that long of a game seeing as how there's a total of 9 palaces, this is one of the longer games I've played. My original run on vanilla P5 was around 140 hours, and my run on royal was 130-135 hours. I'm currently doing an NG+ to relive the story. Not only is the story gripping, but the gameplay is also amazing. Each palace contains intricate puzzles that you need to solve to progress, and the world of Japan inside Persona 5 Royal is simply amazing. And now finally, I would like to end this review by saying that this is a masterpiece of a game with a beautiful story and soundtrack composed by Shoji Meguro. I highly recommend this game. Expand

However this isn't perfect, mostly due to the writing. Too many meaningless dialogs make this game fell like there's too much side content. The overall experience results slowed down and it's way too long.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok, I played Persona 5 Royal and persona 5. I viewed some bad votes, but they are nonsense: someone said that is the vanilla game but with dlcs, but it isn't correct. Persona 5 Royal is something very new, with awesome mechanics and is impossible to make the royal game something like a dlc. I don't give 10/10 only 'cause the difficulties levels was something strange: the mercilles mode was a normal mode but you have more crit chance . I loved special attacks they added,' cause is a mechanic that help a lot. I love all the new secret bosses and I love the Maruki arc. I think that Atlus made Maruki like better Akechi,' cause Akechi was an orribile pg. One other thing that I liked is that now akechi confidant is normal, now he' s a real rival and in the Maruki's arc an ally. I think they did something wrong with Kasumi/Sumire, 'cause they presented her to you like a new phantom thief, but then you play her only in the final palace.

This game makes a lot of changes from the original game and improves from the gameplay and story standpoint significantly. Although the game adds a bunch of gameplay content such as grappling hook, showtime attacks, thieve's den and a more advanced mementos. The rest of the game is pretty much the same. The plot is exactly the same, with the addition of an addition of a brand new arc, party member, villain and palace. The new arc is the biggest selling point of persona 5 royal and it is absoloutly brilliant. The new arc tests your morals and ends the game off in a satisfying conclusion that the original game lacked in my opinion. I generally didn't love how the game ended for the vanilla persona 5, the final arc felt like a stretch to me. However, Royal's new arc completely exceeded my expectation. You shouldn't go into persona 5 royal expecting a brand new experience if you played the original game, but you should instead go in this expecting the same game but better. Also, if you were dissapointed by persona 4 GOLDEN's additional "story arc", because I sure was, you need to know that royal's additional arc is nothing like golden's and this one is much longer and much more fleshed out. I love persona 5 Royal and you should definetly check this game out where you played the vanilla or not. Persona 5 Royal stands strong as my TOP favorite video game of all time, and that is saying a lot. Expand

Worth every penny, finish persona 5 at 2018, and i had no problems playing it all over again on the hardest difficulty, and there is like a 30% more content on top of that ?! And its all great additions, if I could rate it higher that a 10 trust me i would.

    Nothing to say here
Best game of all times for me
Great story (especially the newly added third semester)
    Great characters Fantastic writing
    Unique art style
    Awesome music
The also fixed the most boring parts from the first game like Mementos or Okumura’s palace

This game is just simply fantastic. I was looking for a long game since I was very bored at the end of summer, yet I didn't have any game to play, so I decided to check Metacritic to see which games are rated the highest and so I found out about Persona 5 Royal. I quickly decided to purchase this version instead of the regular one in spite of being at a discounted price at the time. IThis game is just simply fantastic. I quickly decided to purchase this version instead of the regular one in spite of being at a discounted price at the time. I don't regret doing that since the additions in Royal are the best part of the game in my opinion. It's true that those changes are not as substantial as some would have hoped but for a first playthrough, they're necessary to greatly enhance the experience. I'm not saying that you can't enjoy the regular game, quite the opposite, everything about this game is simply fantastic but the characters and the dungeon added in Royal are the best this game has to offer. In my opinion, you should purchase Royal instead of the regular version; also, don't worry about any DLC, they're just cosmetics and completely unnecessary to the game, I even played the entire game without using them because I prefered the regular skins. I know that not everyone is willing to pay a full-priced game blindly like I did but trust me, with a very high chance you'll love this game just as I did. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think the game is good but not because of the characters or story. Persona 5's aesthetic was great and it's gameplay was probably the best in the Persona series. P5R fixes most of Vanilla P5's problems but not all of them. Maruki and Kasumi were great additions to the gameplay and story but I feel like the game shoves Kasumi in your face too often. Vanilla P5's story and plot twist were predictable and P5R doesn't really change anything about that. I'd give Vanillla P5 the overall same rating as P5R. Oh and I wasn't mad about buying P5R because there "weren't enough changes". I played most of the Persona originals and remasters (IS, Portable, Golden) so I knew what I was getting myself into. Persona 5 Royal allows players to experience the story they already love in a new way without losing any of the beauty from the original game. New and old characters get their chance to shine through and steal your heart, even the ones you never expected to. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and maybe you’ll even feel a sense of justice for the infamous Phantom Thieves in the end. But one thing you won’t feel is regret in picking up Persona 5 Royal, as it’s truly the best Persona title, if not one of the best video games, I’ve ever experienced to date.

This is not more of the same, this is not an optional add-on to the original game. This, my friends, is the perfect experience, down to the last letter, down to the last minute. Persona 5 Royal is a Japanese crown jewel.

All of the new additions and content mean that Persona 5 Royal is a clear upgrade to the original. New players should seek this version without hesitation, although vets may find starting the game over from scratch to be too big an ask. Either way, there’s no doubt that Persona 5 Royal sits proudly on the throne of Peak Persona… or at least it will until Atlus decides they can do even more with it.
