I personally can't get enough of this game. A vast, endless universe with billions of new and exciting languages, creatures, environments, intelligent life, etc. A WHOLE GALAXY to explore and scavenge. If you're looking for fast and exciting gameplay, look elsewhere because the gameplay is not what the game is about. It's about discovery and curiosity. I feel so immersed in the game's galaxy and am loving it. I would recommend to any wannabe space explorers because this fits the bill. Simply amazing. For obvious reasons this game isn´t for all audiences. This is why a dark side of the internet is trolling about the game. Go home, please, and shut up.
The game itself is enormous, full of possibilities. A perfect soundtrack. And a very good crafting/selling/exploring/surviving/fighting/upgrading system, BECAUSE THIS IS IT, this game is all about:

Honestly is the most boring game I played in the PS4 . very bad graphics , poor framerate , repetitive and tedious gameplay , as well as empty planets and aimless . Basically it is a basic version of Mass Effect without the brilliance he had. 30fps sub framerate, screen tearing and another graphical issues.

This is a game for people who appreciate nuances, and an ethereal experience that can be played for hours at a time. The game looks and feels amazing. People complaining about FOV, did you ever think that maybe it was done to simulate the feeling of wearing a mask/helmet? This game is an unmitigated disaster. Frame drops to 15 fps, horrible FOV and absolutely no online component even though it was marketed as such. If chipping away at rocks for two hours is your idea of fun, then by all means waste your money on this atrocity.

It's one hell of a hot mess. I have a little sympathy for Hello Games, but they really didn't do themselves any favours with their vague pre-release claims and their almost complete silence since release.

For me, though, it works great punctuating my planet exploration with some tense survival moments; without that, I think that the game would feel to bland. Just exceptional, and the creatures that are procedural generated are VERY interesting. The atmosphere and sound effects in this game is extremely well made and it makes the atmosphere & immersion of the game extremely well done. The only complaint I could say is it's frame rate on CONSOLE. (PS4) Capped at 30 is not that good, but it is still bearable. Looking forward to picking up this game on PC to enjoy 144+ fps. The worst case of "bait and switch" in the last 20 years. Almost nothing from E3 is in this game. Me loving the Cosmos series and admiring individuals like Carl Sagan and Neil Tyson, I immediately fell for what I was playing even if this game is of course not as multiplex as our actual universe.

I believe this game is for the imaginative...the inventive..the unorthodox...those who consistently are curious about the universe and what lies beyond and are not just going about their life without some fanciful thought or thoughts about their purpose as an organism in a universe we may only know less than 1% about. It is that deep in my opinion as individuals put their life and soul into this project.

If your unsure of this game or see it as boring... Just imagine how much can be added along the way. The possibilities are endless and this game is unique in that way. I cannot recall a game that rattled the cage so much so to speak on both ends. One cannot argue that the concept is brilliant even if the execution fell short in your opinion. So, just imagine the continuous improvements that will be just as or even more superior in brilliance.

    So far....im having a ball.

Collect the resources to repair, power and maintain your suit, ship and weapon. Along the way you encounter different alien races, factions, terrain, flora and fauna.
I know many people who were expecting this to be some sort of massive online multiplayer role playing experience. That it is not. While there is the possibility of encountering other players, it is certainly not a core mechanic of the game. 2 people finding each other on a planet sized planet is basically a zero possibility. Though, thats not to say at some point it wont happen. The game focuses on the individual journey and survival aspects of gameplay. There is combat in the form of alien lifeforms becoming hostile or robotic sentinels that protect the planet attacking you. Though, again, it is not the main focus of the game. This is no call of duty or battlefield.
In all, I have played for several hours thus far, and appreciated the challenges and rewarded discoveries in my journey and look forward to many many more hours of exploration.

I have personally cancelled this game twice prior, and had only ordered the game last Friday. I received the PS4 copy, and purchased a PC copy as well after having played the game.

What a treat! This is a beautiful game that expands the horizon of whatever current technology can offer, or had been able to offer anyway. As you delve into the game, you begin to realize just how massive this game is. To be able to simply fly off in space and go to any star, is simply out of the world. The diversity in plants, animals, weather, technology, etc, I can't believe only a few people worked on this game. What a feat.

The colors in this game are amazingly well done. Hard to believe that they are randomly generated. The music and sound is even better. I imagine they are triggered by the type of environment you encounter, and the sound of grass rustling, sea breeze, and everything else is simply amazing.

Most importantly, the amazing experience this game delivers can't be put into words. Thank you Sean and the team for delivering us the game of this generation. We hope to see more of you.

Mr. Murray has misled gamers and created expectations of a game that never matched the product in the making. The end product is a mere husk of his very "vivid" descriptions. I spent ages trying to discover every plant and animal on my planet, and was excited to finally leave in search of exciting planets. However, that feeling of excitement quickly wore off for me. After a while you realise the games limitations in what is supposed to be an infinite universe. Planets would start to look the same, space stations lacked any variety, and interaction with npc's became very limited. On a side note, how am I the first person to discover a planet if there are already alien life forms scattered around said planet? Putting aside the lack of gameplay features that people were told would be in the game, No Man's Sky feels extremely bare bones. What is the point of having 18 quintillion planets in a game? Why create a game where 99% of it will never be discovered? The only reason I carried on playing this game was the hope of finding something new an exciting in the universe. Needless to say, I didn't. Maybe this game will improve with regular updates and added gameplay features. But considering how quiet Hello Games and Sean Murray have been since launch, I wouldn't be surprised if this game remains the way it is. Obviously, I don't want that to happen because this game had so much potential, if just failed to deliver and turned into a rather dull experience. Expand

You cannot fly into the sun so all the talk about real physics of planet rotation etc was wrong. For the development team I think they could fix the game and make it enjoyable by 1. Making resources hard to get/less abundant and survival more difficult 2. Making flight mechanics real with total player control in flight and in landing and 3. Have proper enemies defending some areas and include real physics and different gravity on planets and moons. The one mark out of ten was for some of the art direction as some of the atlus buildings are impressive when you first enter them. Expand

Honestly, I liked the game, I would give it a 7/10, until I started noticing all the missing promised features. For me, this was the culprit of all that is wrong with the game industry nowadays. Being a programmer and coder myself, I understand game development is a complex process, and some features have to be removed. The thing is days prior to launch Sean was still talking about features that were not in-game. Furthermore, the videos with all the exposed lies are still on the steam page as if that was the actual game you would play if you purchase. But what really makes me mad and made me give it a 3/10 is there has been no honest response to all the criticism the game has had, and no honest feedback on what it will truly be, and what it will not be. (For example, Sean Murray has not given a single direct statement about players not being able to meet). Sad to see an indie studio I had so much faith in, fall into the toxic marketing and unhonest behavior that is now so commonplace in the gaming industry, with very few exceptions.

Before launch, Sean Murray was constatly tweeting about his game, feeding the hype. After launch, it has been 3 weeks with no news from him, and no public communications regarding the missing features. That is very unprofessional

Do you like doing nothing but staring at planets, space systems, flora and fauna that gets mind-numbingly stale after a week? Is that worth $60? I enjoyed playing this game for roughly two days, and only kept it installed for seven. This game is the epitome of untapped potential, and pure laziness. The game is nothing more than a flying/walking simulator with procedural generation.

The crafting is boring, the animal and plant life quickly got old and found myself not caring whatsoever about them. The enemies and combat are merely afterthoughts, it’s not refined at all. The tools and weaponry are jokes, nothing looks unique, feels good to use, or has any imagination. Don’t even get me started on the base building, just no. The devs were more concerned with you looking at the sky than they were with base building. You can name stuff that *supposedly* other people can find, but won’t. After I found myself in a downward spiral in not enjoying the game I just flew to other planets and named them, not once finding other players.

This game could’ve been awesome, game of the year even. REAL base building, unique and good weapons/tools, and the ability to fight/meet other people would make this game unreal. They could’ve taken inspiration from games like ARK and Destiny to amalgamate into a good game. I don’t feel scammed or ripped off, I’m just disappointed.

    Positives:
It’s a good looking game, the space portion and environment specifically. This excludes weapons/tools, etc. as I’ve stated previously.
Naming stuff. Cool feature, however I never was able to find others named planets (etc.)

    Negatives:
    Boring crafting
    Bland weapons and tools
    Enemies and combat are afterthoughts
    Complete joke of base building
    No multiplayer activity
    Little to no customization
Generally uninteresting. Does not hold onto one’s attention

In conclusion, before you ever consider buying it, go rent it for 5 days. If the game still has grasp of your interest by the end of the 5 days, maybe the game is for you.

This game is probably a 4 or 5 out of 10 but @ £50 I have to knock it down to 3 because value for money is also part of a review score. 90% of the time value for money is not mentioned because most games are priced about what the going rate is. But no so with this game. Even at half the price I wouldn't be happy.

I got to go into it knowing it wasn't the revolutionary game most of us thought it would be before launch. But I digress. The truth of the matter is that it is a beautiful game to explore planets, space stations, and wild life. The problem I have with that is after a couple hours with the game there just wasn't much to see. Everything looks like everything else, just with minor differences. Besides collecting materials to upgrade your ship, suit and mining gun there just isn't much to do. It might be different if each item required a different process to upgrade but it doesn't. For everything you own you MUST upgrade or fix it by pointing your "mining laser" at a certain element and holding the trigger down. Its an endless loop, and unfortunately for me the endless loop is not even slightly entertaining after the first couple hours. What was I expecting though? After all, Hello Games is an indie developer with very limited money, and man power. To be honest I feel quite stupid. I believed Sean Murray. I believed in what he was trying to sell. After not hearing ANYTHING since a couple days after release I know now Sean is just another "used car salesman" trying to make a living by scamming hard working people who are passionate about video games. I don't know why I actually thought he was one of us. A person who doesn't look at video games as a silly toy for children but an art form. A canvas of artistic expression. I give this game a 5 out of 10 because the first few hours gave me a feeling I don't have the words for. The problem is, that feeling was far from everlasting. If you actually plan to beat this game, you should know that you will spending hours and hours crafting the same item over and over again. Crafting this item will involve pointing a handheld laser beam at a few different kinds of rocks. There's no skill or thinking required. You just walk around like a robot mining the same materials over and over again.

I was so excited for this game. For years. I even fooled myself into thinking I liked it for the first 10 hours. But it's a terrible, terrible game. There's nothing here for anyone. Please don't get this game.

One of the greatest hypes of E3 and I must say that I personally did not have great expectations, but this game turned out to be complete disaster. Developers openly lied and promised us many awesome features and exciting gameplay, but instead of that we get boring, repetitive and unfinished game that is a mere shadow of No man's sky presented at E3.

You regularly come across some amazing vistas in this game, so, yes HG, we'll let you off with that one.
    Now gameplay.
To say this is a missed opportunity is a massive understatement.
    Let's start with the NPCs.
They sit, they move their heads and they make gestures. That's it. You never see them anywhere else. Not wandering around like you, not even shambling to another room.
Apart from interactions in the hut or space station they are glued to, their offerings create no tension and have no ramifications anywhere in the game. Pointless.
When your 'reputation' is increased via these encounters, it means nothing. If I'm favourable with one, the other does not try to gun me down in space (not that it's ever really made clear WHO is trying to do that anyway).
    Money. Useless.
The end game for this might be better ships or tech. The game gives the tech away, you can't buy it, only materials. the ships may look quite different, but none really offer anything approaching different capabilities.
So, you find a ship eventually that looks nice, has enough space, and that's that. No reason to change.
I could go on and on.
No missions, no tension, alien bases EVERYWHERE. Recycled noises, animals, plants, planets. No territorial issues in the local or galactic maps.
it's essentially an interactive screen-saver tech demo.

I hear HG games have announced "base building".
Why would I need to build a base when every single planet has millions of shelters on, and the galactic map is so unfriendly towards tracking destinations, or POI's or anything else.

    Very poor.

Exploration, discovery, adventure, and variation have always been the four aspects I deemed essential to an open-world experience, so while looking at No Man's Sky, a game which technically tries to deliver on all four of these aspects, I want to determine what differentiates this game from something like Breath of the Wild or Red Dead Redemption. Both of which I believe are the best of the best in all four of these areas. In terms of variety, I think where No Man's Sky fails is how it executes its variation with gameplay. The fact that it is procedurally generated means that this game will undeniably have easily distinguishable wildlife and environments, so in this area above all others, I thought the game would be able to execute it correctly. However all the variation is completely surface level. None of it changes the way you approach the game or traverse an area, and all it does is make some areas cumbersome to navigate. Now look at Breath of the Wild, the complete opposite of No Man's Sky in this perspective. Most of these shrines may look the same, but the variety in the micro-challenges and small puzzles they present you with work wonders to make them fresh and constantly surprising. The environments aren't just designed that way because that looks the best, their variation forces the player to make different preparations or use different gear and weapons depending on which they plan on venturing into. Traversing mountainous areas is completely different from traversing Hyrule Field because they're both laid out completely differently and require different techniques to move through them. This helped by the large selection of rewards one can hope to find. This directly ties to No Man's Sky's hours upon hours of exploration. Exploring is the very purpose of No Man's Sky, and is the core gameplay from which everything else stems. In this, No Man's Sky fails because, the only goal in the game is to mine for materials. Occasionally there will be a new creature or environment that may be visually interesting, however they all act essentially identically to every other creature and environment in the game. There is no purpose to simply exploring and looking for things of interest in No Man's Sky, because there will never be anything out of the ordinary to find. Nothing that offers anything more than a new sky-box to mine things in. Nothing ever feels new or surprising, so the discovery aspect completely fails as well. Red Dead Redemption, by contrast, differentiates every town and landmark due to the activities one is able to do there. No Man's Sky, however briefly, does understand this. The first hour of this game easily delivers one of the strongest feelings of exploration in any game as the player is able to go wherever they wish and do whatever they wish, until they realize that wherever they go, everything they do is a carbon copy of whatever it was they were doing before. The sheer fact that mining is the core gameplay mechanic in No Man's Sky simultaneously hinders the game's feeling of adventure, which requires a feeling of progression and journey. The easiest way for a game hoping to achieve this feeling is to demonstrate that the player is strong enough to take down foes that were deadly at the beginning of the game. With a goal in mind, a player can feel a sense of adventure by taking their own steps to accomplish that goal. The very purpose of Breath of the Wild is to deliver an adventure. The player can nearly constantly see Hyrule Castle, and thus are always reminded of their goal as they go about preparing for it in whatever way they deem necessary. In terms of what I value in an open-world game, No Man's Sky is an abject failure, and despite how amazing the initial half-an-hour to an hour was, I still cannot justify giving No Man's Sky any score higher than a 2 out of 10. You have to be realistic.

Having said all that, the game does suffer with an inability to drive the player, to explore. This is because the bulk of the game revolves around collecting resources to explore to collect resources. NMS is a fantastic exploration game and for many, demonstrates what is might be like to live a life in the stars. My problems with this game are that once you have a base set up, what is there to do? There seems like so much could still be added and improved upon, for example you cannot roleplay as a pirate (which are in the game as they can attack you) and you cannot hate one of the factions as it isn't an option.

No Man's sky is a fantastic simulation of galactic exploration, there is no denying that, but I don't think it is a hugely successful game.

The day before No Man's Sky came out, I realized that the game would never be able to live up to the hype that it created. How did this revelation come about? Well, that was the day Sean Murray, the game's lead developer, tweeted that the game wouldn't feature multiplayer. This is a problem because in previous interviews, Sean promised that you would be able to play with your friends. Trust me, this isn't the only thing Sean lied about, but there's way more videos and articles out there that go way more in-depth about this topic, so go find those if you want to learn more. Anyways, I was perfectly fine if the game didn't live up to all of the hype, as long as it was still a great game. Well, let me say it's not. It's not a good game, not even an okay one. It's just mediocre. For those who don't know what this game is, it's one of the most ambitious games ever made. The game is meant to give you a glimpse of the size of the universe. So then how big is it? Try 18 quintillion planets to explore big. It delivers on this promise because the open world is huge, so it's safe to say that this is officially the largest game ever created. But as we've seen with past open world games, a larger world could mean that there's less to do. This is definitely a complaint for this game. It's a survival game, but unlike another survival game like Minecraft, you're very limited in what you're able to do. After a strong introduction where you repair your crashed ship, you then have to build a warp drive so you can travel to different galaxies. This is still cool. But after your first time travelling to a different galaxy, the game drops in entertainment value sooooooooooooooo much. From this point on, all you are doing is collecting resources to fuel your warp drive so you can reach the center of the universe. Not only does this get tedious as quickly as the second time you do it, it also progressively gets more frustrating to complete this task. Maybe it's just from personal experience, but almost none of the planets I found had the resources I needed. This meant I had to jump from planet to planet before I finally found what I required. On top of that, you have to deal with the smallest inventory in the world, even with the addition of being able to move items to your ship. When you run out of space, you'll have to find an outpost that may or may not have a store, or go all the way back to the ONE SINGULAR SPACE STATION IN AN ENTIRE SOLAR SYSTEM! It's flat-out annoying, and borderline intolerable. Going back to planets, I'm gonna close off with the game's biggest issue: planetary design. Sean Murray promised that almost every planet was going to be unique, with some desert planets having dunes and little vegetation, or a tropical planet being mostly water and having underwater outposts and bases. None of this is in the game. After my first planet, every single one after that felt barren and empty. I know it sounds like a lot of work trying to make all 18 quintillion planets different, but if they knew they weren't going to be able to deliver that, they shouldn't have promised it. In the end, it comes down to the fact that Hello Games promised way more than they could give with No Man's Sky, and rather gave us a mediocre game that is nowhere near to earning it's $60 asking price. 5/10. The procedural generation of planets is pretty cool and at times I've been wowed by what I've come across, but the real problem is the gameplay just kind of sucks. It relies heavily on crafting, but the crafting is pretty meh. There is some fighting, but it's basically the same stuff over and over and the fighting itself is also very meh. The universe, lore, and NPCs are also very meh, so the only really good thing is the procedural generation. I honestly don't think the title is really salvagable (there's talk of base building, but who wants to stay on one planet), and I'm not sure Hello Games will have much cred after this title, so it's probably going to be a interesting one off.

The universe is huge but what makes it good? Thats it, its just "Big". Travelling through out the entire universe is boring and just going from one planet to another is just a chore and just feels like it takes too long. There is no story and no real goal for this game, so overall you just feel useless and underpowered. You start off trying to fix your ship but it gets overly boring from there. There is no multiplayer (Which was a huge selling point for the game). There was no caves to explore, no customizable FOV and best of all. The graphics looked like it was straight barf! In the gameplay trailers we were shown huge beautiful worlds. But in No Mans Sky we are just given an optimization pile of trash. There was no interest in the game and it wasn't difficult or have any difficulty in it at all. Atleast the game is playable ill give it that. And it did feature the main theme. But what good is the main theme if you cant do anything interesting. Overall I give No Mans Sky a 4/10. Do not buy this game. Maybe if it was free, maybe...

    Cons:
    No multiplayer.
    No mountains.
    No deep caves.
    No deep sea exploration.
    No forests.
    No customizable FOV.
    No challenge.
    No interesting NPC.
    No story.
    No ending

    Pros:
Atleast they tried (or did they..)

    Points to note:
The pointlessness of your continue playing dawns on you once you reach a certain point - either it's finding new planets for the sake of it or upgrading ship / suit inventory...for the sake of it, heading to the centre is no longer a desirable goal after reading what awaits you.
Gameplay is shallow and cumbersome, character movement is too slow, shooting is unrewarding and the FOV is too narrow.
Ship flying is fun until you get into space, space combat is well below average and consists of constantly turning 180 degrees to try to track the impossibly nimble enemies.
Exploration is rewarding fir the first few hours, new creatures and planetscapes are genuinely cool and awe - inspiring for the first dozen or so planets, it soon becomes obvious there isn't the variety you were hoping for.
The pop-in with the terrain is quite sever on some planets on PS4 destroying any sense of atmosphere.
The music is either quite good when it pumps up or not really noticeable, happy with the game sounds apart from the constant reminders about suit monitors.

The game is worth the $20 price point suggested by quite a few people but unless there are some earth shattering updates announced, and soon, I may just throw my hat in with those screaming fraud.

I still contend concept art seen in pre-release trailers do not raise to the level of "promised features that never manifested" and none of my disappointment for the game has to do with that oddly contemptuous online debate.

I also don't think the game is in anyway improved by adding hyper realistic planetary physics, the ability to spend uncounted hours slowly crawling from one star to another, the ability to fly into the suns of the different galaxies found, or the lack of in your face baked in multiplayer capabilities as in nearly every discussion of this game pre-release it was driven home pretty hard the experience would be a solitary one that only occasionally saw you stumble across another player.

    What changed my mind from rabid fan boy to disgruntled whiner is as follows;

The game is boring because of how little "procedurally generated content" actually manifests. In a game with no other plot points, story lines, or objectives this was the games only real hook or selling point so to find this concept is only robustly applied to an extremely small set of game details is a major let down.

The phrase "procedurally generated" is used with such a loose relationship to the actual definition of both words it's easy to see why people feel swindled.

The animals you're able to discover all share the same dozen or so basic body types with probably two dozen or more different appendages that just get randomly swapped around but even then only to a certain degree and the flora, ships, NPC alien races, colonial outposts, monoliths, ruins, and plaques all suffer the same problem.

Until it's pointed out the lack of flowing water, sand, or other obviously missing planetary features at first seem to be part of the randomly generated magic of exploration until you discover it's just not present anywhere in the game.

It's at first very hard to upgrade weapons, suit, and ship but then incredibly easy until you discover in an "infinite" universe you've essentially become nigh invincible which is fun but only if there's a reason to wield those abilities and sadly, there's really not, save for the occasional easy to beat NPC pirate ships.

You are constantly being attacked by pirates in space but never see evidence of them in the games otherwise non-existent story line despite constantly running into the same three alien races.

There are many beautiful details that could, and hopefully someday will, lead to rich story lines and sub plots that entice at first only to abruptly cease to serve any point or have any relevance when you discover they're just more repetitive aspects to a planet you will see varied slightly the next time you touch down.

    That's about it.

I would give this game a ten out of ten if there were any small indicators from Hello Games major content patches were even just being planned with tentative dates but the absolute silence from them since the beginning of September, when bug squashing patches were being released almost weekly with zero patch notes, leads me to believe the furious backlash from the gaming community has forced Sony to demand the bug squashing patches but otherwise shutter the entire foray into this game and its creators in an attempt to save face and minimize financial blow back.

Even the constant whining of the on-board computer was just a minor irritation. After following the path for 20hrs I found myself grass-hopping through the cosmos just trying to minimize my actual time spent on planets. That is when the realization sank in that the sandbox was devoid of any meaningful toys. Unfortunately the game mechanics that could have given it depth are really shallow - mechanics like interaction with the alien species or space combat. All the advertised features only scratch the surface - you can be what ever you like if you have a really good imagination and you are willing to settle for less.

Space piracy? Go for it, doesn't impact anything.
Explorer diplomat? Go for it, no impact on anything really.
Trader? Go for it, market mechanics are really stale and money is abundant. Oh and you practically need money only for cargo space (new ships and suit).
Mercenary? Well if you read this far you know the drill..

The game simulates the futility of it all pretty well though. Nothing matters. You are insignificant. The music has some effort, some tracks are good and others are things you'll turn the volume down because of. This game tries to have a heavy soundtrack but it just falls flat when a musical flourish hits in the middle of space, like "Whoa those are some heavy metal... rocks... ****

This is where a space game has to get it right, the alien species and surprise! They suck!

The new update finally added what the game had been missing: co-op. You can now play with friends! I still give it a 9 because it still seems to be missing something. I just don't know what yet. This game has risen from its own ashes. It is appreciated that the developers did not abandon it. And they kept updating it. To bring to the level of the players expectations.
Now he's totally worth his money.

I heard that the new 2018 patch had fixed a lot of the issues. So I picked this up for $10 on sale thinking that it'd be a chill space exploration experience. Died multiple times just in the beginning becuase there's no intuitive way to recharge your enviro-protection. Inventory management makes no sense. Things randomly attack for no reason whatsoever. It's a nonsensical mess of an experience that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. The most satisfaction I got was when I snapped the disc into tiny pieces and chucked them in the bin.

Despite its numerous and chunky content updates, No Man’s Sky still manages to be one of the most boring games I’ve ever played. The great art style and settings do little to motivate any players to progress its weak story offering, and offers little to no incentive to do anything beside mindless crafting and terraforming. The base building system is serviceable, but I don’t feel like recommending the game based on that alone.

No Man’s Sky is simply put, a boring game. No amount of added content or multiplayer can change what is essentially an empty game without anything valuable to offer. .

Oke first of all I bought this game in 2016 and it was awful, but since the comments say 5 years later it really improved I gave it another try. And sadly I am still dissapointet. And sadly I am still dissapointet. You can clearly see it got a lot better but for me the whole idea still doesn't work. Unlimited planets to explore sounds amazing in theorie but in reality this is only a game for people who really love the survival-colleting recources-upgrade&build things aspect. There is no exciting gameplay nothing happens on these planets. If you explore your landing zone you literally saw the whole planet there are no mysterious caves, forrests or other things you can explore. The animals and plants still look very repetitive. There is nothing happening on these planets only thing you can do is collecting recources thats the only purpose of them. I think this is very dissapointing because what's the point of a whole universe to explore when everything is so boring it isn't worth exploring. Like I said for me the idea sounds great and they did their best but in reality it doesn't work. It would be a much nicer game if there are only 100 planets to explore but every planet has the magic of a world like the worlds in Gof of War do. Sorry if my review is wrong and there are beautiful and exciting planets out there, but I never saw one sadly. Expand

While I’m sure developer Hello Games is still tweaking things and perhaps even creating more content for No Man’s Sky, the current state of affairs is a strong one. This galactic opus still offers an infinite amount of content for those who want to lose themselves among the stars, but now also contains a concrete throughline that will satisfy a wider array of players. It can be irritating at times, but it’s also full of stunning moments and the satisfaction of building a virtual life among the stars. Four years after launch, it’s finally a journey worth taking.

The world of No Man's Sky is insanely vast and beautiful, but there’s nothing to do in it! There’s no goal, no destination, no ending, nothing!

While No Man's Sky is engrossing for the first few hours, repetition starts to set in and the proceedings grow dull. The developers stated that they plan to add significant features such as base building which could dramatically change the game for the better. There's a promising foundation present, so it's possible to envision a more substantial game down the line. As it currently stands, though, our excitement to cross the universe faded sooner than we expected.
