Despite the well documented flaws and false promises, I still think this game is an amazing achievement after 40 hours of play. Everything is quite -simply said - “arcade” and the grinding is tedious but it is an absolute blast to travel, discover and explore. No man’s sky will certainly be part of my gaming hall of fame in term of memories. Moreover, it should get better over time. Initialized on some random "paradise" planet with an unpronounceable name. Have to repair spaceship. Got killed by 3 Sentinel Drones while harvesting materials for said ship repairs. Respawned and sought revenge on drones. Continuing to repair ship. Haven't been able to leave planet to start exploration for two hours so far. Awesome.

So a lot of people seem to dislike this game. I think that it has to do with the hype that this game received. No, this game did not live up to the hype but it is a pretty decent game. I wouldn't recommend most people buying this at the full price of $60, I'd recommend to wait until it drops down to $40 or so.

If you like the idea of surviving (e.g. Minecraft) but would love to explore space and would love to take your time to enjoy the experience, then this game is probably for you. This game can be somewhat repetitive since it's very straight forward (gather resources, upgrade your ship, suit, go to new planet closer to core of the galaxy). The best way to describe this game is that it's a survivor/exploring game. When I say explore I mean it literally since the developers don't know what's on every planet that's why you get units (currency) for discoveries.

This game isn't a space combat simulator, nor is it an amazing space shooter. It really reminds me of Spore, it's amazing because of the uniqueness of the game itself, not because the game itself is out of this world (no pun intended).

    Great game. Compelling and addictive.

Space travel and exploration are exciting and unique. Feels insanely satisfying traveling through space and mining to make enough money to buy bigger and better upgrades.

Needs some work with textures and a few bugs here and there. Promised future updates to add in some more elements to game will help too.

    I'm enjoying No Man's Sky.

If like me you're interested in the journey and you're not needing your shootyman's twitch-reflex CoD-tested 24/7 then the chances are you'll find something to like in No Man's Sky. Even if you dive into the space battles with a serious upgraded ship.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. No Man's Sky has been a great exploration game since its release, I don't care about the multiplayer missing and I don't think that actually important for the game since the universe is so big that meeting other players could be complicated (just try to travel to the Galactic Hub with a Class C ship from the northern section of the Alpha Vector). The updates made the game much better, with more things to do but still it is just a chill exploration game. I still get goosebumps everytime I land on a new planet. I'm still a very long way to te center of the Euclid Galaxy and I know what I'll find later in the game, I've done the Atlas Path and yes, it's not the best storyline ever, it's just a secondary quest to obtain the ability to locate black holes. Anyway, the game is just what they said it would be, I only miss the rotation of the planets, that was a personal bummer, and perhaps some more animals, but that's just because I have not found dinosaurs but other people have. Update 1.1 and 1.2 were great and 1.3 might bring multiplayer, so that should be it for that issue. You can get it cheap now (maybe that was a real problem when it came out, it was too expensive, maybe) and with the updates I think it is worth it. :) Expand

I especially loved the thirty story juggernaut that smashed me with one stomp before I realized the darkness was not an early sunset. The flora is to die for. Literally. It was a pokemon space adventure as a bulbasaur looking mad pumpkin vine whipped me into submission, and paid no heed at all to my safe word.

I finally got warp cells, but here is the tragedy in all my glorious fun. Pirates. Loads of pirates who were tipped off by that dirty rotten Gek in the space station that I had bought them but hadn't yet installed them. But everything turned out okay. I only died a few times before I managed to warp out of there and find a planet of green seas and pink trees.

But... there is actually surprising amount of content and goals for you to finish. Of course some basic elements (like trading posts, caves,...) on the planets are present in such amount, that they repeat from very start. But there is enought of unique stuff that is not copy+pasted everywhere, but it is really rare to encounter. So even after hours and hours of gameplay you encounter new unique content. And the feel of exploring the unknown still drives you forward. This helps to keep the game fresh for along time.

The most important thing is, that game is not a total meaningless walking simulator. It actually gives you enough objectives (to build something or points you in direction of some unique structure or NPC) to keep you going and to encounter cool stuff. So far I did not encountered situation that I would be exploring for a sake of exploration. Or grinding elements just so I can grind more elements. There was always bigger goal behind it (from crafting upgrads to pointing me to black hole) that moved me somewhere and felt rewarding.

I also feel that this game is different from other space sims. On one hand it is much biggers. But on the other hand it is simplified. But in a good way. First of all the gameplay is fast (you dont spent 95% of the time in empty space. Traveling between planets is so fast you dont get bored like in the EVE Online). And you know what ou ar supposed to do from start. You dont feel lost and overwhelemed. So this may be good entry game to the genre even for newcomers.

No Man's Sky is about EXPLORATION, not shooting enemies. Are there enemies to shoot? Yeah, I've landed on two planets that have highly predatory species that want nothing but my blood on their jaws and even trying to get the fuel for my spaceship becomes a fight for survival, which is what the other part of this game is, surviving.

The two things you do in the game are explore and survive. Surviving requires finding materials to power your various space things. Your mining laser, your ship's three different engine types, your suit shield and environmental protection (which keeps you from dying when the planet is freezing or burning hot or has toxic rains). If that sounds boring to you, don't get the game. Other than those things there's nothing here, unless you're interested in finding minerals to sell to the computer for money, which is no different than pretending to be a trader in any of the most recent Fallout games. Basically, you have to either be very interested in looking at the different scenery on each planet, or be willing to, god forbid, actually role play with your game. You're either here for the view, or you're taking off and pretending you're a space captain or a bounty hunter, or a trader, and that's what it'll be, pretend. There's no class, no job, nothing. But it's fun, it's the most simplistic version of fun that gamers have lost with games providing hallway simulators that have story, or an open world with a paper script. Exploration for the sake of exploration is fun.

Now, I will concede issues. The planets aren't all that varied, but they're not varied in the same way they were in Star Wars. Here's a desert, here's a water planet, here's a jungle, etc. Sometimes they mix. I landed on a tropical planet that gave way to ocean and some dotted islands which really stood out from the jungle behind me. But once you see a few you do get the idea that the game is just going to stitch together existing biomes from Earth. The animals you encounter are likewise just kind of slapped together pieces, but sometimes the pieces slap together in interesting ways. One planet I saw had dinosaurs with bug faces and claws. Nightmare fuel for days.

The biggest problem I keep reading about though that I have to address, is the inventory "issue" people have. Which ... I don't get. Your suit powers run off of things like titanium or zinc, your energy weapons and engines run off plutonium. You can get titanium by killing this little eyeball robots (which is easy as the game has an aggressive auto aim), and plutonium is on every planet in the solar system as big red crystals. I keep four slots, two for titanium two for plutonium, and I never run out. That leaves me with 9 spaces for stuff in my ship and currently 8 spaces for stuff on my character. There's no inventory management going on, it's just keeping a slot open for minerals that are literally everywhere. If I had one complaint about the game it would be that surviving is TOO EASY. The only time I felt even marginally threatened was the planet where everything wanted to kill me, and I have a GUN to shoot the alien squirrels with so it wasn't that big of a deal.

Overall, this game is fun where it is but I can see a lot of potential in the future if the game can be made challenging. At the moment it's a lot of flying around and looking at things and you have to be interested in seeing those things and being immersed in the game. If you're looking to shoot stuff but still want space try Rebel Galaxy or Free Space, those are probably more your taste. If you want to land on an alien world and look at things and go, "What the hell?" play No Man's Sky.

    - The cool ability to write your own story in the universe that will be uniquely yours and your choice.

    THE BADS:
    - HUMAN EXPECTATION: We as people when given the opportunity to think for ourselves create our own fillers. so As this game leaves open from the beginning a universe with practically infinite options, our minds, before playing the game, have already created creatures, worlds, and adventures in our minds. This causes a dilemma as Hello games and Sean Murray have NO ability to read everyone's minds. They had a specific goal with the universe and implemented aspects to generate it. So if a persons creative ideas do not show up in this sandbox of a universe, they will immediately hate everything about it, which is not fair justification for saying its a bad game.
    - BIG BUSINESS: Unfortunately being in marketing I see and know if you have money, you can make anyone disappear. This is common in media outlets like movies, books and game reviews. Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist but I think the fact that Hello Games has created something beyond a scope of imagination and only with a small team put them under a bulls-eye for larger companies to take hits on them. and just like in courts, if your adversary has more money than you and can hire more and better lawyers.. you're screwed. I would like to think better of big business but it be better to Hope Hello Games makes it through this attack.

    OTHER RANDOM NOTES AND THOUGHTS
I had NO expectation of this being a common multiplayer type game like all those other MMO games out there. I expected it to be one of my challenges to meet another player some day in this universe. yes supposedly two player were on the same planet and were not seeing each other... From the video I saw of it doesn't look clear enough to me that they were in the same place at the same "time" key factor.

The Game takes you on a virtual exploration of a universe as big as our own with practically infinite procedural outcomes for flora and fauna, layouts of land and sea, and an open universe to create your own story as you travel. A great thing about this game is its ability to allow you Free will to choose what you want to do. If you do not like the ability to make your own choices and want to have someone tell you where to go every step of the way this game is not for you.

I continue to find new wonders, and new intrigue in the alien factions and monoliths, an stories behind them all; all hinting at something bigger to the game then just what we see. I appreciate a challenge in games like this; one that tests your durability to daunting tasks (which every game has), one that tests your appreciation for HOW the games creates everything you are exploring, one that test your skills at chilling out and enjoying what's around you.

From the two years I spent following news on this game and the development of it. This game is not jsut meant for us but meant as a way Sean Murray has been able to create a childhood dream of his with a small team. And for me anyone who gets to experience their dreams in reality is VERY awesome. Not many of us have that chance and not many can make something as enormous as this happen with such a small team.

Overall I will say this is a Niche game market style game. It is a game that EVERYONE should play and learn to play simple for the wonderful meditative therapy of slowing down and seeing what is around you. This part of human life has slowly been disappearing right before our eyes and no one even knows.

As for now I am happy mining floating gold mountains to eventually trade that gold with an auto generated in game character to buy and even bigger spaceship so I can mine more gold to sell it to another auto generated in game character all while trying to micromanage my resources so I can survive when I do all of this.

Item management can be a little annoying at the start but once you get upgrades and more inventory slots it stops being a problem. Space travel is really cool and can literally take hours (real time) unless you have a warp drive, which will cut that down to minutes depending on the distance, similar to Elite: Dangerous.

It can get a little repetitive in places so its good to mix up what you do but its also strangely addictive, making me want to keep playing to see whats at the centre of the universe.

You can't expect Mass Effect as awesome as that would be. It's kinda like comparing a comedy to a marital arts film and then complainig that the martial arts film wasn't funny enuff, altho it would be really awesome if it was funny too. I say all of that to say I understand why so many people are disappointed, but I gave it an 8/10 partly to counteract the hate and because after 8 hours I still like it. To be fair it's repetitive, but there are still ALOT of things I havent seen. The beauty of this game maybe just to see how many different thing this computer generated game can come up with. It may get Super weird, who knows!I like the controls they're not overly complicated like other space sims. I like that there is life of some sort which is also lacking in other sims. I like the abandoned compound which are also not present in other sims. I like the language aspect and that there are special things to discover beyond the flora and fauna like crashed ships and obelisks which again is lacking in other sims. So I'll play til I get to the center or until it gets boring cus I just want to see where it goes and I'm having a good time(so far)getting there.

Their is no sandbox game that is as impressive as No Man's Sky. It combines next-gen graphics, with randomly generated galaxies, and a lot to think about. The lack of story leaves you to create your own back story, or maybe there is one secretly laid out for us.

There are over 65,000 unique creatures and plants, and three unique alien races that interact with the player, leading him or her on a voyage to the galactic center, or on a quest to uncover the game's hidden lore.

As the game progresses, you rebuild your starship and engage in discovery, trading or combat, all of which help you improve your starship, suit and weaponry. Each improvement allows you to travel farther and explore more dangerous worlds and new star systems in a journey whose goal is determined by you. You may follow the directions of the Atlas, the galaxy's mysterious and powerful artificial intelligence, or you may follow the advice of Nada and Polo, a Gek scientist and a Korvax priest who are investigating a strange galactic mystery. Alternatively, you may follow your own path, ignoring the game's major NPC characters and making your own story.

For those who want a mellow space exploration game that gives you new vistas every time you land on a new planet, this game may be for you. However, it is not a game for everyone. Skyrim in space this is not, nor is it a game you can play with your friends. The game is huge - literally universal in size, and seeing evidence of anyone else in the game is quite rare. Unfortunately, many people desperately wanted this game to be something it was never intended to be, hence the bad reviews. But for those of us who have realistic expectations for a relaxing game of galactic exploration, No Man's Sky has a lifetime of content.

A month into my journey with No Man's Sky, I continue to find the game fascinating every time I boot it up. There is a lot to like here, if you're the kind of player the game was intended for. The game did have some bugs at first, but there have already been a number of updates that have brought the game up to speed. The developers have committed to bringing in content that was not ready for the game's release, and they intend to add new features in free updates, showing an ongoing commitment to the game.

When you are able to leave your planet and later your solar system at last, you will be awed by the freedom of space exploration, new discoveries, and the mystery of your own personal space opera.

To this point, the game is among the best ever. After this point, it is admittedly repetitive, and you will be frustrated with very limited inventory space, nagging hp, hazard, and fuel bars, and the realization that you may have already seen the best of the game that you will ever discover, as each encounter may or may not be more or less interesting, each planet or solar system you visit may or may not be worth the time.

Some players are paradoxically doomed to endure dead, boring worlds with naught to do, while others may by random chance have an incredible game experience as dictated by in basis, a roll of the dice.

No game can boast as much content, but the quality of that content is lacking. I have to give my review a +/-1 margin of error as well, because a person's experience could be shaped entirely by the randomization of their starting point and subsequent journey. So this rates as a 7-9.

Even when taken only to the point that it starts becoming repetitive, it is well worth the trip, because that initial set of thrills in the game still has more longevity than the likes of for example, the highly rated (by me as well) Uncharted 4, which I finished in about 10 hours and haven't touched since.

It's interesting to compare this game to Minecraft, whose strategy Hello Games should have adopted, by pre-releasing Minecraft in alpha--informing players there would be bugs, Notch seemingly included players in the process of developing the game. But it seems Hello Games, and Sean Murray, have come around and are listening to what the community wants. I found myself engaged in a game I haven't touched since release, and it seems that the game is turning itself around--although it has a long way to go still. No other console game allows me to walk on an entire planet surface, enter my ship, travel through space in real time to another planet, enter its atmosphere, land, and jump out on foor again, all of this without a single loading. On the top of that, the game offers deep survival mechanics, inventory and resource management, and overal a huge amount of content.

I liked the game when it came out (would give it a 7.5/10), but after update 1.1 i decided to start a new survival game. Survival is super chalenging and the contruction mechanics turn everything more personal.

NMS has its flaws, but it's so ambitious in scale, not even AAA devs, with their infinite resources, dare to create something similar.

9/10 on its current state, and the good news is that it will be geting better over time due to free updates.

This is a niche game trying to go mainstream, hence the mixed reviews and disparity between user opinion and critic score. However it is the niche that I personally love and after a week playing I am still finding the exploration, upgrade system, lore and general gameplay a lot of fun.

Apart from the odd game glitches, which are being patched, No Man's Sky plays seamlessly. It is graphically one of a kind offering expansive, stunning vistas to explore and mine to your heart's content. The flying mechanics are tight but still give your ship a sense of weight. And though the space pirates and sentinels add a sense of danger there are no overwhelming threats that will intrude too heavily on your mission of exploration.

There are problems though; the inventory system could be more expansive, the trading more complicated, and the lore could be deeper. It is a single player game and it needs more of a story to back up the endless exploration lest it become aimless and futile. Also while there is a vast amount of variation in planets and fauna there doesn't appear to be any planet biome diversity. So there is little need to explore more than a few square miles of a given planet to experience it's total.

I'm giving this game a solid 8, but watch or play a friend's game before committing as it certainly isn't the mainstream game for everyone that it was hyped as. I am hoping No Man's Sky does well enough that the developers will continue to work on, expand and deepen the game, because although it isn't perfect yet, it has the potential to be astonishingly great.

Do your research before buying, and if you're in to this kind of stuff... enjoy.

Update: Game is complete now. Worth the price, also its often is 50% off on Steam. Very fun as a solo player, I never got into multiplayer but its there. Very fun and relaxing game, get lost in the universe.

This game has the potential to be a great game, closing in on a 10/10. But this game was released too early in development, it's missing features that were presented by the dev, it's completely missing the most advertised and expected gameplay features. Yet, the game was still released, at full price $60. This is half of a game. It's an unfinished alpha preview. It should not be on store shelves for sale. It should be on Steam as an early preview for $15 or $20.

Now, I believe this game will get there, I believe updates will be released, features added, and this will evolve into the game I expected and was promised/advertised.

My review has to be on the game I have, not the game I want or look forward to. With that said this game gets a 5/10. It's average. Interesting and at times beautiful. Exploring new planets, building new technologies to visit more distant and varied star systems is exciting. But after a while the game becomes completely repetitive and lackluster. Without a solid story, without a worthy goal, without multiplayer, without any RPG game elements, there is really no motivation to continue playing once you've upgraded you stuff to the max.

My advice is to wait on buying this game, but keep your eye on it. When the features are added it needs to be a great game then buy it. For now, hold off.

However the game feels more like a mining game than anything else. You go somewhere, you need stuff, you find the elements. I have never played Minecraft but I imagine this is a lot of what it is like having seen others play it and talk about it. While this may seem boring to some, keep in mind the items are constantly changing as is the terrain, environment, creatures, and goals. The game is really yours to decide what to do but has a main story. I enjoy the mining aspect but find the one thing no one mentions that leads me to believe some of these reviews are written without playing the actual game as their details are completely lacking of what they don't like. For me it is not having an ability to GO BACK TO YOUR WAYPOINTS. You heard me right, a game this huge has NO WAY to backtrack. That to me seems like a huge facepalm that the developer's did not put that in. So you essentially are 'tagging' places you have been for no real reason except to get points for trade. You better have a good memory of the terrain or you are not getting back. This is extremely frustrating as I found a better 'multi tool' in the first world but needed more coin to get it. Blast off to the space station, trade, come back and .... What the! I can't find where I found the gun at and now randomly I get no settlements that have multi tools. That to me makes the game incredibly frustrating as I want to get better weapons, I can mark where they are, it serves no purpose to find it later.

But the overall fun of the game is good and I would give it a B. I would give it an B+ if they fixed this stupid bug. But the game is fun to play, renders fine for me, and is as huge as listed. So far it is fun as I think the negative hype train was just expecting the coming of Christ from this game and it is not that, but it still is very fun.

When I purchased this game I knew NOTHING about it. I did not read the reviews or hear any hype before the release. To me it looked like a cool game so I tried it out and was pleasantly surprised.

Now after reading the negative reviews and watching Sean Murry's promises I do agree that the game was to be something much better. People had hoped for more. However, after seeing the Foundation Update and hearing that the team is working hard on future updates I am excited.

I'm sure the team had a ton of pressure from Sony to release the game on the promised date. I have faith they will end up with the game they promised, if not something better.

As it stands now, after the Foundation update the game is very nice to play. The planets are beautiful and are a joy to explore....even the dark cold ones are fun to play and fun to try to survive in. The animals are funny looking and occasional attack you but all very amusing.

One thing I want to point out that not many people are taking about is the FEEL of the game. When you enter the atmosphere of a new planet the joystick shakes...the screen shakes...it's loud.... I mean it's a really cool feeling. Also flying around in your ship is also a very cool feeling. There are many things that just FEEL good when you play.

I know the game is not what is promised but if you are NOT expecting a thing it's quite enjoyable and beautiful. Like I mentioned, the game will ONLY GET BETTER! Sure, at this time it does not offer multiplayer or some of the visuals are a bit repetitive but overall Hello Games made a pretty cool game and it will only get better with the updates. Another thing is that this is not Call of Duty, it's not a high pressure crazy first shooter game. But for what it is, it's pretty cool.

This small team is busting their butts to offer new updates constantly. They are even hiring new people now if you look at their website. I am confident Hello Games will come through with some incredible updates. Hopefully, the damage is not too too bad so they can come out of this. Remember some games including Destiny were not so great and look at them now.

Good luck to Hello Games and their effort on delivering many updates in the future!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Obviously underrated but it's still a fun and enjoyable game. There is actually lots to do. A good questing system where you can either befriend or make enemies with 3 Alien species, and lots of starships and mods to augment your style.

    THE BAD:
    - Not much to do as of yet. (HOWEVER the devs are constantly making updates to the game. Which are all drastically changing and good with balancing.)
    - Galactic Market feels skimpy. There are only a set number of items for some reason. The items need to be unlimited and on a rotation for rare elements/mods/equipment. That way you will still have to farm some, but if you need Plutonium, you aren't limited to the 34 pieces that they sell. Which isn't even enough to fuel your ship for ONE takeoff.
    - Bad inventory slot balance. A starship should be able to hold more depending on size. And the smaller ships should be able to have more powerful weapons. But less slots. The slots for mods and the slots for inventory should be separate. That way mods aren't taking up valuable inventory space. Freighters also hardly have any room at all. They only have 48 slots at the MOST. Which you would think a ship designed ONLY TO TRADE would have MUCH more inventory space.
    - Hardly a challenge. EVEN WHEN YOU DO HARDCORE SURVIVAL, the game still isn't challenging after the first 2 hours of gameplay. Now it might be basic luck that I was on a planet full of civilization and rare minerals, but I still find the game relatively easy compared to DayZ, ARK, Don't Starve, and other Sandbox farming survival games
    - No multiplayer. You'd think with a universe this large and expansive, you would allow someone to experience it with a friend. But thats not the case. A friend could make mining those ridiculously large Gold nodes with half the time. Like even with a maxed out mining laser, it takes like 30 minutes to harvest all the Gold on one standard node. And it's only worth 2 million units. And you might think thats a lot, but when you get to 30 slot ships or even basic inventory, 2 million units came from about 2k Gold ore. That isn't a lot at all.
    - No true quest. (SPOILER) No ending. The Center of the Universe only gives you a cutscene for about 3 minutes and then you start all over again with broken equipment and not a dime in your name. Very anticlimactic. And makes you wonder why you spent hundreds of hours to even afford to get to the center of the universe. It wouldn't be a problem if you learned some kind of epic mod, or some kind of hidden knowledge, or if there was a secret to unlock--- ANYTHING. But there's not.
    - The 3 Alien Races don't feel real. They don't do anything but sit in one place forever and on. They have no walking paths, they have no other purpose except to be tradesmen and to give tasks to increase your Faction with their species. It would be badass if there were wars with the Atlas sentinels, or if there was anything you could actually do with the Aliens. but there isn't. It would also be awesome to be able to have henchmen. Like hiring mercenaries, even for bodyguards while in Space, because once the Atlas Ships are on you, from an accidental shot, or a badly timed photon blast, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get them off of you until you retreat to safety in a space station.

    THE GOOD
    - VAST, EXPANSIVE, BEAUTIFUL universe filled with several QUINTILLION species of plants, animals, and flora.
    - HUNDREDS of mods to customize your character, ship, and freighter to your liking.
    - THOUSANDS of hours worth of gameplay (Not talking about exploring everything, you will never be able to do it in your lifetime. but you can reach the Center of the Universe, and get max level everything in about a years worth of playing)
    - Lots of different materials and things to collect.
    - Very nice looking Starships, Multi-Tools, and Freighters to buy all without spending real money.
    - Very good with the Quests for base building.

All in all a very nice purchase for $25. I got it on sale at Walmart for $15. You just have to wait because the game is still in beta. More like Alpha. At the same time though they shouldn't have even released the game until it was finished. Otherwise they would just get negative reviews through and through and nobody would buy this game. But it has AMAZING potential to be the best game ever made.

But after years of the team not giving up we have No Man Sky 2019, which is not only a very different game to what was released in 2016, but its is one of the most original, technically impressive and even industry leading games , this generation. There is almost infinite things to do in this game , and its great fun, but the fact you can do it all in VR is what elevates this game to a 10/10. Just like RE7 its a great game on its own , but when you are able to feel like you are in the world and the sense of immersion and atmosphere is that realistic, it elevates the whole experience. the only negative I could give the game today is that it is a bit Blurry on PSVR, ive seen many other games look much sharper on PSVR which makes me wonder in they are taking advantage of the PS4 Pro hardware yet.. Its not entirely fair to mark a game down for the hardware limitations with such new tech, though, so for me the game sits at 10/10 in 2019. Expand

The game has had massive improvements to its gameplay. it has a solid story, good development, co-op to a degree, and base building. Vehicles, weapons, and space combat has improved. Atlas storyline has progressed, and the game is very strong.. If you still have the game, give it a try! Its a completely different game! If you have not played the game, get it now! Its only $20 brand new! I am happy to say that I came back to this game.

Amazing game which is now the best game of space exploration ever. One of the few games receiving continuous free updates with tons of content. New expeditions every 6 months give you new objectives and unique items making you travel through the best places in NMS. Hope physical ps5 release will be a success because this game deserves it.

It was what I expected from an indie dev and followed all the lead up pretty closely. It was definitely hyped to the highest degree but If you watched closely and looked at all the content what was released was close to what I expected. Since release Hello Games have been constantly updating and working hard polishing, refining and improving No Mans Sky. There is so much content there that it really does keep giving.

If you want to explore the stars and see what is out there you may like me find this game enchanting. Initially there are some challenges, surviving on early harsh planets, constantly finding required materials but as you develop your suit, your ship and your understanding you will reap the benefit of not feeling desperately tied to a grind and can really enjoy seeing what you find. Setting yourself goals of making money, improving your suit, upgrading or replacing your ship, getting your own freighter, building your own fleet, finding weird and wonderful planets or systems then sertling within one on your own base either alone or with friends. There is a lot to do and enjoy here. If you are a player that needs a clean narrative to follow there are story missions to follow but these are quite light and not enough for me to recommend this game to you. If everything I have mentioned appeals to you, you like me may really enjoy this game. I’ve played around 170 hours across 2 saves ( one solo and one multiplayer so I wasn’t too far ahead of a new joining friend when multiplayer was released)

The biggest thing for me, causing me to rate this an 8 is that it is a truly unique game, unlike anything else I’ve played. And that for me is deserving of recognition.

In 2016 I would rate this game at a 6. With the tremendous and free updates they’ve put out over the years this is hands down a 10/10 title. VR mode is otherworldly.

First played this on release and really, really disliked it. Recently tried it again (after ALL the updates & patches) and man oh man am I hooked. It’s almost like a totally new game. Definitely try it again or buy it if you don’t own a copy.

At first a 0, now... Better late than never, it deserves a perfect 10. They did what was needed to be done, silently... Absorbing all the hate they provoked with their promise of a game changing model.

I honestly love this game. It offers many approaches to play it, endless gameplay and really innovative components. These developers releases patches with new features for free, while nowdays most of the companies does it with paid dlcs. I don't really understand these low point and FOR WHOEVER READS THIS REVIEWS REMEMBER THAT THIS GAME IS CHANGED A LOT IN THE LAST YEARS!!
    I simply love it.

I really enjoy the game now. I was pretty disappointed when it came ot and stopped playing after 5 hours, but all the updates made a real good game.

Combat (Space): 7 - OK i guess, i don't usually play other Space games.
Combat (Ground): 4 - Game is not specialised for that.
Story: 8 - Got improved so much.
Graphics: 8 - Good enough to get immersed
Sound effects: 9 - Use good headphones. Alien creatures make funny noises.
Music: 3 - not for me, too esoteric. Use your own music.

Overall, the gameplay elements come together now to create a great experience, i am excited to play more after 35 hours now.

Gotta have it to these guys. At first this game was terrible but after they fixed it i absolutely love the game. during their patches there were still many bugs and caused the game to crash but eventually most was fixed. i do have some issues but overall this game has been very fun, very different, and lost more to do.

While I’m sure developer Hello Games is still tweaking things and perhaps even creating more content for No Man’s Sky, the current state of affairs is a strong one. This galactic opus still offers an infinite amount of content for those who want to lose themselves among the stars, but now also contains a concrete throughline that will satisfy a wider array of players. It can be irritating at times, but it’s also full of stunning moments and the satisfaction of building a virtual life among the stars. Four years after launch, it’s finally a journey worth taking.

The world of No Man's Sky is insanely vast and beautiful, but there’s nothing to do in it! There’s no goal, no destination, no ending, nothing!

While No Man's Sky is engrossing for the first few hours, repetition starts to set in and the proceedings grow dull. The developers stated that they plan to add significant features such as base building which could dramatically change the game for the better. There's a promising foundation present, so it's possible to envision a more substantial game down the line. As it currently stands, though, our excitement to cross the universe faded sooner than we expected.
