    Ha sido un juego entretenido, gana por la movilidad y el disfrute de ir corriendo por el mapa.
    La historia para mi no es muy relevante, ya que lo principal del juego es la movilidad y lo vistoso que se ve.
    Tiene bastante contenido y misiones las cuales hacen que disfrutes del mapa.

    Solid game! Much improved mechanics over the first game and maintains all the other aspects that made the first Mirror's Edge great. I highly recommend this game on PS4!

    Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a highly enjoyable action-adventure game featuring fluid parkour mechanics, an engaging story, and stunning visuals. It is a must-play for fans of the genre. But the story in this game is not as strong as the original Mirror's Edge. Despite this, the game is still a thrilling and well-crafted experience that is worth playing for fans of the genre.

Сюжет не цепляет звезд с неба, но держит хоть какой-то интерес. Миссии однообразны, разнообразие пытаются внести побочки. ЧВполне годный сиквел интересной по своей механике игры.     I've played many games, and this is one of the best game I ever played. Unlike any other combat games, this is just a relaxing and thrilling parkour game.
    Even you are looking for more battle, try dying light or something. This game is just to underrated

    One of the best games i have played in my life. Improved everything on the original fingers crossed for a 3rd one coming soon.My biggest suggestion is play it like its a video game not a cinematic masterpiece. Just ignore the stories put on some good fast paced music (my suggestion being rap) and just run.

    I just finished playing the game for the 7th time. And Honestly I don’t get why some people think this game is boring and not good.. it’s so fun to play the game if you like running and jumping of buildings etc, the graphic design was AMAZING, the city is beautiful (mostly the city of glass, I just love how it looks) the game gives me kind of a futuristic vibe, and I just get this happyI just finished playing the game for the 7th time.     I can agree that the combat is kinda bad (it’s ok for me) but it should have been some guns Faith can use, cause honestly sometimes I failed with the fighting when it was too many, but it wasn’t extremely bad where I thought to myself that just can’t play anymore. And I can also agree that there was kind of repetitive missions but they were all fun tho so it didn’t really bother me.. though I think the story should have been longer, but the ending gave me the feeling that there is gonna be a Mirrors edge 3, because Faith didn’t successfully finish her job and what she wanted to achieve.. but I think that would be a great story for ME3, and it would be cool if they made it more cyberpunk, more interactions with people, and online where you can meet other friends at skyscrapers, that would be so cool! And I just hope there is gonna be a new one where EA and Dice listen to every critique and what the fans want, because I think that it would sell better now that it have been so many years since Catalyst! Though some gamers are really picky with their games and really judgemental. I have to say tho that it was emotional and the story line was really good, sad that Noah died.. but I loved Faith’s character, cause she’s a rebel kind of girl who wants to stop this “Dictator” type of man and government to free people to make their own choices. Overall the game was really good imo, I think EA and dice should really considered making a ME3!

    A bland middle of the road game that is just serviceable enough. The story doesn't really go anywhere and is just meh. Thankfully you can just run through the campaign quickly and move on to something better.

    The game gives exactly what a fan of this series would want. Fun and challenging runs, a strong aesthetic. Fast-paced gameplay. Can be improved on the plot side, having a more engaging story behind would make it even better. But worth playing nonetheless. hope they'll make another one.

    Nothing to do with 1, in which the missions were linear and fun, to survive you had to flee from the police doing parkour but not in this one, since many times (many) you will have to fight against them, see if they have given you importance that there are even upgrades and combat skills.     The story seems to me at least regrettable and extremely forgettable, the characters have given me a **** **** at no time have I had even a minimum of empathy with any of them.
    The only good thing about the game that improves on the previous one in addition to the graphics and movements is the free world, which was lacking in the first one.
    In summary, if you have played the first one, I do not recommend it at all, but if you are new to the series, you might like it (although it is difficult).

    The game is incredible from the graphics gameplay story everything is incredible but it is too short and I wish it gets a prequel soon because I'm eager to know what happened before the events of the game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To set things off,I have bought a month of EA Play,for playing EA games that were rated badly or that I had missed.The game was installed fast,and no issues such as crashing and lag appeared during the entire gameplay experience for me.
    The story is bad,easily forgetable and not very interesting.It began in a full of hope way,but,it's length and plot that followed ruined it,it is short,and there is nothing to keep you conected,about 20% through I started not to be interested anymore,but,I bought it,so I had to finish it.After reaching the end,I have to say that I was not impressed at all with the final scens and final of the story.It leaves the player in front of a dead end,with a single crack which could be a sequel.
    The gameplay was fun,for the first 30 minutes,then it became repetitive.Parkour is the core of this game and series.In this game,it is done about right,the only thing which ruins it is the huge amount of bugs and bad controls.In many points of the story,I had to take a deep breath and evaluate if to continue or not,as the bugs were ruining my experience during parkour.
    CThe combat is very bland,nothing special and certainly not something very enjoyable.I encountered many bugs during combat,and once again thought about ending the experience there.I personally would have liked to see a better combat system,including some kind of gun and better enemies.Also,boss fights would have been nice.At the final fight,you get to fight 2 sentinels(the elite unit of the game),certainly not difficult or enjoyable.Personally I would have enjoyed a fight against Cat,and a great ending afterwards.
    The skill system is not welcome and certainly bad,poorly executed in my opinion.Those abilities should be available from the start,with the gadgets being added during the story(titanfall 2 is a very good example of this),this would help avoid the massive amount of backtracking.The amount of collectibles is right away massive,probably not enjoyable for most players,certainly not for me.Side quests are not interesting,not much to keep you playing after finishing the main story.
    Graphics are straight away nice,no doubt on this matter.
    The map is small,with a lot of backtracking.It seems dead,not alive as such a world should be.The only sign of life is represented by the cars and flying vehicles around the map.
    Overall,the game will surely be loved by the fans of the franchise,but newcomers might not be attracted by it,as it is,in my opinion,bland.It would be a great game without the bugs,like holes in the map from which you cannot escape,and with a lot more content,along with a lively map.

    First of all - it is not open world - there are just few predefined routes merging together. Gameplay is ok, story - also. Characters are totaly lame - extremaly cringy and in real life if was were at the party with them I've would go somehere else. World looks worse then previous one.     Короче Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst.
    Вся история первой части полетела в унитаз. Я не спорю новая история не плоха, но зачем было делать вид, что Mirror’s Edge 2009 года не было?
    При всём при этом разрабы угробили ту свободу, воздушность и простор оригинала. Они завязали весь геймплей на открытый, но очень странный мир. 80% времени вы будете бегать по одним и тем же крышам, примерно в центре карты, выполняя какие то дебильные доп. задания.
    В игре зачем то поменяли геймплей. Теперь Фэйт не может использовать огнестрельное оружие (иногда очень хочется) и может сражаться только в ближнем бою. При этом почти все враги вооружены. При всём этом открытом мире, на одном уровне, примерно 10х10 метров, меня заперли с десятками вооруженных бойцов. Пришлось тупо отсиживаться за укрытиями и копить силы, что вообще противоречит концепции игры.
    В игре появилась прокачка, да. В первой части у нас всё это было по умолчанию.
    Да подтянули графику, лицевую анимацию, но кому это нужно если при этом игра потеряла свою главную фишку, атмосферу свободы!
    Резюмирую. Не знаю зачем нужно было перезапускать удачную игру? Надо было сделать лишь полноценное продолжение оригинала с похожим геймплеем и новыми фишками. Всё.
    Оценки говорят сами за себя. И теперь поднять эту "серию" из небытия будет ох как не легко!
    Хотя прошёл до конца, скажу честно: игра просто скучна.

    I thought the game started pretty strong, the story held my interest and i liked the characters we were introduced to. It unfortunately becomes very predictable and the characters dont become anymore fleshed out than their introductions. Very by the the numbers story telling.

The way point marker you follow i thought was too slow and a lot of time was spent having to stop waiting for it to catch up to show me which way to go next.

    My main problem is the combat, its not fun, basic, not fluid and there is way too much of it.

    Overall its a pretty game and while predictable is still relatively fun as long as youre not expecting world class story telling. I'm still glad we got a squeal even if its not all i wanted, but i wouldn't be surprised if we don't see this franchise again for a long while.

    I played the first game and loved it. CATALYST has the same atmosphere as the first game, but offers more freedom. I loved the gameplay and the freedom, also the new skills. The story could be better, but Catalyst's gameplay stands out above the rest. I hope EA will invest in a new game. Faith still remains one of the best well-designed female characters. I love her design.

The World is a constant labyrinth with no distinct corners or places. I know it s difficult to create them in a "rooftop" world, but i really miss them. Also, the hub doesnt feel "at home".

    The story is good enough (though the characters are very cliche). I find it intriguing enuff. But they should present/tell it more "intriguingly". E.g. very important plot element are just revelead by radio call on the go, when ur "run" is in progress. Most of the time I overhear important parts of it. I wish they would tell the story by more cutscenes in exciting dialogues. If motion cap is to expensive, then use the game engine to create cutscenes. But as I said, the Story itself is good.
    oh man, this game really has potentials. Pleeeeaasse EA give Dice more budget next time around (as i believe that was the problem), should u opt for a sequel (hopefully)

    The blandness of the game starts immediately. The cutscenes are little more than people standing around and talking to each other. I don’t understand why they couldn’t have been scripted in-game. The dialogue is also flat. This product shows zero passion. The story is forgettable. Even the setting, city rooftops, is one large level that you traverse back and forth until you are bored out of your mind with it.

    The gameplay is simple enough. You run, jump, and climb like an Assassin in an Assassin’s creed game, only slower, with less precision, and more deaths from falling. The player character will do you no favors. She does not reach out to grab a handhold or stop short of a precipitous ledge. Instead she falls to her death like the stiff puppets we used to expect from the PS2 generation.

    The levels could have helped with the rigid movement system. Sometimes they do and you can enjoy driving the player character around like a jumping, climbing race car. Then the developers mess this up too. One mechanic has you stop to attach a grappling hook to climb to higher places. Not everywhere like Rico from Just Cause or Spider-Man from ... Spider-Man. In Mirror’s Edge, you only grapple from certain places and only when at a dead stop. The same goes for pulling down select walls to open up new paths. This game has no commitment to the core premise. The gameplay additions reek of managerial overreach. I’m sure some passionate developer raised their hand and said “But shouldn’t the player keep running?”. And I’m sure they were told “Shut up and do your job.”

    Full disclosure: I bought this game used for less than $5 from GameStop. EA will see none of my money. At this low of price, the entertainment value of writing this review is worth the cost of the game disc. Maybe I’ll sell it a garage sale for $2 once this whole Covid-19 thing is over. If I do, you should buy it. Then you can write your own review.

    Is is impossible to destroy the brilliant atmosphere and gamedesign of original ME I thought, but I was so wrong, so wrong. ME Catalyst simply BORING!!!! Hove dropped it after one hour, better to replay original one fifth time.

    Ich bin ein großer Fan des ersten Teils und halt es für eines der besten Spiele die je gemacht wurden. Entsprechend Enttäuscht war ich vom zweiten teil. Ich Kritiken zum ersten Teil gelesen in denen Kritisiert wurde das, das Schießen nicht vernünftig umgesetzt war. Diese Kritiker haben Offensichtlich den Zweiten Teil entwickelt oder Maßgeblich beeinflusst. Schon beim ersten Trailer war zuIch bin ein großer Fan des ersten Teils und halt es für eines der besten Spiele die je gemacht wurden. Entsprechend Enttäuscht war ich vom zweiten teil. Ich Kritiken zum ersten Teil gelesen in denen Kritisiert wurde das, das Schießen nicht vernünftig umgesetzt war. Diese Kritiker haben Offensichtlich den Zweiten Teil entwickelt oder Maßgeblich beeinflusst. Schon beim ersten Trailer war zu vermuten das das Spiel komplett in die Hose geht. Aus diesem Grund habe ich es mir zum Release garnicht erst gekauft.

    Aber wieso?

    Ganz einfach das beste am ersten Teil war das Laufen je schneller desto besser. Jeden Sprung hinkriegen und jedes abrollen. Mit Wallruns abkürzungen laufen. Schlecht waren beim ersten teil die Kämpfe, weil sie einem komplett im flow unterbrochen haben und das Gameplay zerstören. Allerdings waren die Kämpfe im ersten teil nahezu komplett Überspringbar und grade das hat beim zweiten, dritten und vierten run den Reiz ausgemacht. Nichtnur die kürzeste Route zu finden sondern die schnellste wo man nicht Kämpfen muss.

    Dann kam der Trailer zum zweiten Teil und man sieht direkt das Faith am Kämpfen ist. Da frage ich mich wieso? Wieso wird versucht den schlechtesten Teil des Vorgängers eine größere Rolle zuzuweisen? Das ist wie zu erwarten voll in die Hose gegangen, weil man mit jedem Kampf eben aus dem Flow rauskommt.

    Die Openworld ist für ein solches Spiel eine Katastrophale Entscheidung, das besondere an jeder Karte wurde dadurch zerstört. Die Openworld wirkt unübersichtlich und längst nicht so fein Ausstrukturiert. Es wirkt so als wäre die hälfte des Teams gefeuert worden und man konnte sich deshalb nicht soviel mühe geben. Was für mich nicht nachvollziehbar ist. Da die Maps das Kernelement dieser Art von Spiel sind. Die meisten ME1 spieler wären vermutlich mit neuen Karten zufrieden gewesen

    Wer sich den Greifhaken ausgedacht, hat offensichtlich den ersten teil nicht gespielt. Beim ersten teil ging es darum alles zu perfekt wie möglich zu machen um Kontrolle über die Bewegungen der Charakters. Der Greifhaken nimmt einem diese Kontrolle weg.

    Ein Talentbaum, wo man abrollen erst freischalten muss. In einem Parkour spiel.

    An sich wäre Catalyst bestimmt "okey" gewesen, aber die Fußstapfen des Ersten Teils sind einfach zu groß. Wer den ersten teil kennt wird hier enttäusch werden. Wer den ersten teil nicht kennt und nicht weiß wie es z.b. in sachen Mapdesign viel viel viel besser geht, kann hier villeicht Spaß haben.

    Wieso ich 0 Punkte gebe ist daher sehr einfach. Ich wünschte das Spiel nie gespielt zu haben und nicht erleben zu müssen was sie daraus gemacht haben.

    If your looking for a deep rich story you should pass on this game, but if your like me and gameplay trumps all give this game a chance. Like the 1st game I hardly remember anything story wise but the gameplay is addictive and becomes 2nd nature very quickly.     La duración posiblemente sea uno de los puntos más flojos del juego, si que es cierto que dura más que su antecesor, pero no lo suficiente, en mi caso tardé en pasármelo 17h y 54min ( haciendo diversas secundarias ). La historia gira en torno a las 14-15h. Por lo que respecta a los gráficos, son buenos, un juego futurista

La historia gira en torno a las 14-15h. Por lo que respecta a los gráficos, son buenos, un juego futurista con expresiones faciales muy conseguidas y realistas, las físicas también son destacables. La trama es sencilla pero suficiente.     The first is the open-world concept that has become so commonplace now that it seems games will struggle to succeed without it. An open world is great in theory, allowing you to traverse rooftops and skyscrapers (which concurrently convey the excellent visuals). Navigating said rooftops however is where the game falls on its face slightly. It seems Mirror's Edge is taking inspiration from Deus Ex by presenting players with various paths and options to the goal, but this is undermined by some paths leading to dead-ends, whilst others are simply too slow. The idea of DE's multiple paths is that each path can suit different playing styles (stealth, shooting etc.), whereas ME forces you to stick to free-running. Therefore having multiple paths to the goal seems redundant.

    The second is that the open world itself is filled with monotonous collectables and side-quests. I quite liked stealing the chips and other serendipitous items that gave you experience points, but the missions almost had me giving up on the game completely. They are insanely repetitive in terms of content and difficulty. Most missions seemed to be trial and error to find the best path, rather a test of my skills in the game.

    The story has received criticism, but I think this is where the game actually shines, because the story allows you to see some fantastic visuals and different locations, as well as having a diverse range of missions. It's not very thought-provoking, but most people are here for the free-running experience, and this might just be what the game does best.

    Controls have improved massively over the previous game. Fighting is much more intuitive and wall-running isn't the temperamental death-sentence it was in the original. It's still not perfect, but again it makes me want to play another sequel.

    Overall, despite my frustrations, if you minimise your participation in the side missions, I think this can still be a pretty decent game, and I'd definitely embrace another sequel. The premise and concept of free-running will always make for an interesting game, and with further improvements we could have an excellent sequel.

    As fun as the original mirror's edge with a decent story, clean graphics and in my opinion one of the best ps4 games available. The story kept me entertained through to the end even if it could have been better. The much maligned combat isn't bad and when you get some speed going can be very fun. Even the time trials which I usually hate are great fun, trying to cut milliseconds off ofAs fun as the original mirror's edge with a decent story, clean graphics and in my opinion one of the best ps4 games available.     I was a big fan of the original Mirrors Edge game. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was an original concept with an excellent visual style. As much as I like this game, it does have a few issues. Even though the combat in the original game was most peoples major complaint they bafflingly decided to keep it in the sequel. Do developers listen to the fans at all? You don't have to fight all the time, but there are sections where they lock you in with come enemies, and you have to fight your way out. I will say that the combat is improved over the original, but it is still first person melee combat, and it's very hard to get this type of combat right. It can be disorienting when you are fighting multiple enemies, some with guns, and you are dodging in circles trying to avoid being hit. Once you get the hang of it, it's manageable, and I didn't die to combat too many times during my playthrough. All in all, Mirrors Edge Catalyst is a very good game with one glaring flaw, but if you want to play a game that is truly original, I recommend checking it out! It can be had for not a lot of money, and is definitely worth the price of admission. Expand

    I played 14 hours of this game... 14 hours of frustration over the god-awful controls, 14 hours of a pretty mediocre story and 14 hours of frame-drops and bugs... The amount of times I died because of a bug or Faith being stupid and jumping off buildings instead of running on walls is massive... But there is still something about this game that makes me come back to it daily... The giantI played 14 hours of this game... 14 hours of frustration over the god-awful controls, 14 hours of a pretty mediocre story and 14 hours of frame-drops and bugs... The amount of times I died because of a bug or Faith being stupid and jumping off buildings instead of running on walls is massive... But there is still something about this game that makes me come back to it daily... The giant part of the City of Glass looks amazing with so much stuff to do after the game ends... The characters are amazing too... Even though there were just 4 GridNotes (The best parts of the game), I really enjoyed playing through the side missions... I didn't plan on finishing this game on 100%, but after spending 14 hours of my precious time playing this, I think I can spend a bit more...

Was MEC von einem DIRECT GAMEPLAY mit perfektem Pacing und immersiver Steuerung in ein beschissenes DAU-Casual-RPG verwandelt.

    – Das halb-lineare Leveldesign wurde mit einer offenen Welt ersetzt. Nun gibt es haufenweise Backtracking. Die Openworld sorgt dafür, dass das Pacing nicht-existent ist. Es gibt kein Pacing mehr. Auch gibt es immer wieder Leerlauf da man sich nicht von A über B bis hin zu Z bewegt, sondern von A nach H von H nach C von C nach B von B nach X usw.
    Darüber hinaus sind die vielen Nebenaufgaben ein Immersionskiller. Dann gibt es erzwungene Kämpfe die du nicht wie in ME1 überspringen kannst in dem du eine alternative Route wählst. Ja, richtig. MEC ist eine Open World mit WENIGER Freiheit als in ME1.
    Zudem hat die neue Offene Welt auch sämtliche wunderbaren Features die eine gute Open World braucht wie Sammelitems und belangloseste Nebenmissionen die teilweise konträr zur Hauptgeschichte laufen.

    – Das RPG-System zerstört den Flow. Du musst das Abrollen(!) erst freischalten z.B. Völlig absurd so eine Designentscheidung in einem Parcourspiel. Wundert mich, dass das Rennen von Anfang an freigeschaltet ist.

    – Die Animationen sind schlechter als in ME1, es wirkt auch als ob das FOV komisch verschoben ist, besonders zu sehen wenn Faith in die Hocke geht. Mir unerklärlich warum man da nicht einfach das aus ME1 übernommen hat

    – Faith Aussehen wurde völlig verändert. Die war wohl vorher zu pfannenkuchengesichtig und schlitzaugenhaft.

    – Man kann nicht mehr schießen. Das war zwar nie das Kernelement aus Teil 1 und man konnte es auch ignorieren, was auch oft die bessere Wahl war, aber die Freiheit zu nehmen eine Waffe zu benutzen die war doch schön. Das gibt es in MEC nicht mehr. Faith muss nun in den Kämpfen, die ja nun erzwungen werden, mit Fäusten in eine Schießerei begeben.

    – Die Charaktere. Wo Faith' Schwester in Teil 1 noch zerissen in ihren Gefühlen als Polizistin war, die Korruption ausblendend die überall herrscht ist sie jetzt eine unsympathische Abziehfigur wie aus einem Comic (und zwar keinem guten Comic). Das gilt für jeden Charakter. Alle wurden runtergedummt.

    Wie gesagt das alles schadet einem kompaktem und vom Pacing lebenden Spielerlebnis.
    MEC spielt sich eher wie eine RPG-Sandbox mit belanglosen Zwischensequenzen als ein Parcourspiel das einem im einen Abschnitt Adrenalin hochtreibt und anderen Abschnitt schön, mehr oder weniger entschleunigt, nach einem Weg suchen lässt mit eher Klettereinlagen als Rennen und Walljumps wie in den schnellen Abschnitten.

    Der Soundtrack von Teil 1 war auch besser. Der Minimal-Chillout-Techno-Mix aus ME1 war einfach perfekt.

    This reboot is just ok with boring story, clumsy fight and 720p.
    Art is beautiful, parkour is best segment of game and main character is easy to love, at least her look.

DICE company that does responsibly, honestly, and beautifully, Catalyst in my opinion the most beautiful game to date, neither Battlefront 2 nor Battlefield 1 (all the same DICE) did not beat Catalyst. the game interested me in the trailer I do not remember how but I remember that I was stunned by the picture and then I realized it would definitely be bought because I like parkour, and this game consists of it. You're like Batman who just fights and does not kill rivals and it was a breath of very fresh air after a lot of shooters, technically the game is chic, the design is excellent, the gameplay is awesome, beautiful open world and spit on those who did not like it because of the fact that in the first part of it there was not, Faith Connors just fire, one of the coolest games I played in, I think everyone needs to reconsider their opinion on the account of this game, it's worth more than 9.75 / 10 in all senses is good ... For whatever reason, Mirror's Edge Catalyst is actually an open-world game, which adds nothing to the experience save repetitive sidequests. Not one sidequest in this game stands out in my memory. Compare any of these sidequests with those of more developed open-world games. The Witcher 3's and Horizon: Zero Dawn's sidequests may not be extremely varied in terms of gameplay, but all of them remain interesting because of their engrossing stories. Final Fantasy XV may have had mediocre sidequests in general, but at least it made a few that felt substantial and taught the player something legitimately important about the game. Breath of the Wild had sidequests that were often boring, with a few exceptions, the most prominent one being From the Ground Up. However, the game more than makes up for the lackluster sidequests with the addition of Shrine Quests, each of which provides unique puzzles and encounters. The Elder Scroll's series's sidequests are often the reason to play the game. So many open world games provide useful and interesting optional content, but Mirror's Edge Catalyst uses an unnecessary volume of sidequests as a checklist to give the player. There is so little of the simple fun the original Mirror's Edge had that its sequel can't help but feel watered down. The best moments of the original in my opinion came from the concentration it took to speed through these streamlined levels. The addition of an open world and more open-ended levels in Mirror's Edge: Catalyst detracts from the experience of moving efficiently and fluently through a level because the game openly discourages you from doing such a thing by giving out constant distractions and alternate activities like they're going out of style. The combat also detracts from that experience because the consistently locks Faith in a room with twenty enemies who she takes out within a minute by pressing one button on the controller. The original game's combat was extremely flawed as well, but locking Faith in a room and forcing her to fight a group of enemies is exactly counter to the strengths of Mirror's Edge. This isn't to say there aren't high points. At certain times Catalyst manages to deliver moments which stand up to the original, for example the free-running, still feels fluid and natural, and does a good job making movement more interesting than it would have been otherwise. By no means was the original Mirror's Edge a flawless game either. I'd have a hard time saying that for me it should be given anything higher than a 6 out of 10, but Mirror's Edge: Catalyst is such a misunderstanding of what made the original great that I can't help but feel disappointed. So I'm going to give Mirror's Edge: Catalyst a 3 out of 10. Expand

The main villain in addition is not highlighted much in the game for you to care or worry about him whatsoever. The MC however Faith for me is pretty likable cause of her fiery, daredevil and tomboyish attitude. However, everything in this aspect as a whole is so-so. Thus, a fair score of 5/10.

    Gameplay - Now, as someone who has played the linear style of the first game. I am disappointed that they made this game as an open world. It doesnt fit its game style and I didnt enjoy you keep on running in point A to B as well as taking repetitive side missions, fetch missions, etc. In addition, fast travel isnt obtained until the middle of the game where you wasted time traveling from it. Another issue is that the guideline that you follow is sometimes unreliable as well as the stupid enemy AI of the game and the oh-so-awful fighting mechanics in-game. You could see that I have a lot of complaints in here but there are still some positives like some of the missions are fun and also I rarely encounter any game breaking bugs/glitches or issues (though there are occasional crash in game) and in my opinion I still liked its parkour elements though to be honest it is inferior compared to the first game. Taking all my points into a score, I will give this part a bad score of 3/10.

    Graphics - The overall graphics of this game is on the plus side. I really loved how pretty and cool Faith's character model and design is as well as other characters like Icarus, Nomad and Noah, the other unnamed NPC though are just recycled with different coloring and accessories though, but thats minor. As to the environment, the city of glass is pretty especially in areas you take main missions, however, the open world of it is plain. Its...just...white with few other light colors. There are also very few or rare fps drops I encounter in-game thus I usually enjoy a free flow movements in game without annoying issues. Overall, A good score of 8/10.

    Sound - Voice acting, Its decent but most of the voice acting in game lacks emotions, feels like im talking to a robot when speaking to NPCs in game, however, Faiths voice is great, It really fits her rebellious attitude though I would recommend more strength in her voice. The music however is different, I loved the main ost of the game as well as its soundtracks. Thus, another good score of 7/10.

    Fun Factor - Honestly, I didnt really enjoyed this game. The open world did not fit its gameplay, repetitive side missions, average storyline and plain envionmen, numerous collectibles that is more of a hassle than to enjoy. Though I liked the timed challenges in the game and the parkour elements and main missions. It is not enough for me to say that it defeats the negative part of the game. Thus, a score of 4/10 in this aspect.

    The negative critics and opinions are way too harsh and I think they probably didn't even complete the game. I was a fan of the original Mirrors Edge and bought this successor day one via hype train. This was my experience:

    First few hours of the game: - looks ok, sometimes good. But why does it not look as good as Battlefield, DICE ? - Is that short area here all of the map ? I hope
    The negative critics and opinions are way too harsh and I think they probably didn't even complete the game. I was a fan of the original Mirrors Edge and bought this successor day one via hype train. This was my experience:

    First few hours of the game:
    - looks ok, sometimes good. But why does it not look as good as Battlefield, DICE ?
    - Is that short area here all of the map ? I hope not.
    - Genereic fetch and run quests....hmmm

    So I was a little bit disappointed by that seemingly wasted potential, at first.

    Then after some hours later into the game, after I unlocked 2-3 more areas and the story unfolds:
    - hey the music is nice, and this enw area has much cooler atmosphere.
    - running around is actually satisfying
    - those node riddles are awesome
    - combat looks good but is of course still simple and not the focus of the game.

    after 50% 100% of the game:
    - This is such a good atmosphere
    - I really like the the little rebel against the system story. It was told well withing the frame of this game.
    - eager to complete the story
    - sad when it all ended.

    Please give this game a chance the first quarter is just a 7 but then it migrates to a near 9 towards the end. There is no other game where you can explore a city with that kind of mobility. I was surprised I liked it so much in the end, again.

It was a decent game, but didn't have nearly enough content to be a great game. However, some years later, DICE has returned to try to make a sequel to the first underwhelming game, powering it on the amazing new Frostbite 3 engine, that powered BF4 and Star Wars Battlefront. First off, just like most DICE titles these days, the graphics are really impressive. And the parkour mechanics are just as good, if not better than they were in the original Mirror's Edge. But, for some reason, DICE removed the ability to disarm guards, which makes combat a lot harder. Also, the story is even more bland than the original, and is pretty short too. Not to mention the barren and boring open-world. This game is not worth the money. Sorry for the short review. My heart was just not in this. Expand

    The parkour in this game is very cool and fast paced. I like to use the parkour in different ways to my advantage. Also, the combat is good and requires skill at some points.

It was clear that from the pre-release footage given that there was a large emphasis on story, with in-game engine scenes, introducing more characters and providing players with further backstory into Faith's past. Technical aspects such as gameplay mechanics were also carried over, bringing new announces such as the grappling-hook and mag-rope which introduced new manoeuvres, and changing the overall playing style. Design choices were also used similarly, having set environments be presented by allocated colour schemes with the use of brightly lit surroundings. But after my experience with Catalyst, I feel that DICE have taken a step back with this rendition; by introducing Faith to a new player-base in an open-world combat forced system with the addition of cluttered gameplay idioms, and a story that is corny as is uncompelling, DICE have truly lost the true beneficiaries of Mirror’s Edge and have instead referred to a modern game-design checklist.

    Despite its obvious flaws I enjoyed the original Mirrors Edge title and this sequel (or more accurately prequel) is an overall improvement. One of the originals biggest issues was the combat, particular the awkward shooting sections for which the controls simply weren’t up to the task. Catalyst does the sensible thing by completely removing guns from the equation and integrating the handDespite its obvious flaws I enjoyed the original Mirrors Edge title and this sequel (or more accurately prequel) is an overall improvement. One of the originals biggest issues was the combat, particular the awkward shooting sections for which the controls simply weren’t up to the task. Catalyst does the sensible thing by completely removing guns from the equation and integrating the hand to hand fighting into the parkour. Keeping your speed up now builds a ‘momentum meter’ that, as well as allowing you to dodge bullets, also makes your attacks more powerful. If you can get the timing right you can take down many of the enemies in one hit without having to interrupt your free running. Some of the sections where you have to fight enemies within a tight space still play a little awkwardly but the combat is much better than it was previously.

    The actual free running itself is of course still great fun and there is still no other game that offers such fast paced, first person action. Giving players the option of how much assistance the “runner vision” provides is a nice touch that allows players of all abilities to jump, swing and slide their way around the environment feeling in complete control.

    At this point in the review a seven out of ten probably sounds like a bit of a low score, unfortunately however Catalyst still has a few issues preventing it from reaching its full potential and can be frustrating at times. As with the original Mirrors Edge it is still pretty easy to miss-time a jump, especially when the game tasks you with jumping between platforms at lower speeds, and the fact that death results in a 5-10 second loading screen doesn’t help matters. The switch to a more open world environment, complete with side missions and collectables, doesn’t really work either. Not only is the format completely overused these days but here its only purpose seems to be to artificially extend the length of the game. Safe houses to which you can fast travel can be unlocked but it sometimes feels as though you are spending as much time running to missions as you do actually completing them and. I’m all for player freedom in video games but Catalyst is at its best during the parts of the game where the gameplay is more tightly scripted The side quests that appear as little icons on your map (how original!) are not particularly imaginative and mostly consist of timed runs to deliver objects from one location to another. Not only do they become repetitive very quickly but failing a mission because you turned up one second late when delivering ingredients for a meal just makes no sense. Seeing NPC characters just standing around waiting for you also takes away from the immersion of the games world and story and serves to constantly remind you that you’re playing a video game.

    To be honest I can’t remember all that much about the plot of the original Mirror’s Edge and give it a few weeks I’m pretty sure I won’t remember much about this one either. Like the first title in the series you seem to be fighting against some giant, faceless corporation but a couple of hours into the game I started skipping most of the cut scenes as I had little to no interest in the games storyline.

    Overall then this is an improvement on the original but Catalyst still doesn’t truly realise the potential of its central concept.

    6. The combat, this is probably the biggest issue. The combat system doesn't work well and in a number of areas you are forced to fight instead of running away. Often I found myself repeatedly jump kicking enemies because it was the only thing that worked. Fights are too difficult and they're simply something to get past. It just doesn't make any sense that the main character can take on rooms of guards with guns and tasers. You can't use guns this time either unfortunately
    7. The rpg elements are just tacked on and don't offer much to the game. The biggest example of this which stands out is learning how to roll when you land, a skill which you started with in the original game.
    8. The scenery is quite lifeless. As the game progresses it becomes clear you're trying to save people from something (i'm still not sure what exactly it was). But the city feels empty of people and character. It'd be a huge improvement to drop the open world design and instead break it down into levels which feature areas which differ strongly in terms of theme. Hopefully we never see a sequel but rather a spiritual successor which takes the smooth gameplay and puts it into a much better environment.

    + pros

    1. Graphically the game is quite good.
    2. The level design isn't fantastic but it's pretty good.
    3. The game is mostly fun. I really enjoyed running and jumping my way through missions. Aside from the combat the gameplay was good. First person parkour is a pretty unique idea and something that's not seen often in gaming so if you feel like something different it's worth playing.
    4. The unlockable gear was probably the only thing added which benefits the game. You unlock a grappling hook allowing you to swing across to other buildings and pull down items above you. This added a little something which kept the gameplay fresh.

    I wish I could think of more pros but sadly that's it for me. So to sum up, if you feel like something different and you can get a cheap copy then i'd recommend playing this. It's definitely fun... aside from the combat... the other flaws were mostly avoidable... but not that awful fighting system.

    It's a shame because I really enjoy the aesthetic and the running. Let's hope the fix the flaws for the next one.

The issue lies in how little it has evolved overall. This hybrid of sequel and remake makes it unfortunately neither fish nor fowl.

    We don't get any origins of Faith and Merc... As he's not in the game. As a fan who owns the original comic telling that origin to say it's a colossal disappointment is an understatement. It also is hampered by too many Batman/Spiderman gimmicks like the grappling hook. Doing them mid-run occasionally is one thing but often cutting huge sections of the map out due to overuse becomes boring.

    The story is also very predictable and one directional, complete with one of the most abrupt out of nowhere endings I have witnessed in a long time. The combat is laughable with often strafe kicks being way too overpowered. Though the idea of kicking enemies in to each other is quite nice.

    The biggest positive is that the gun play is totally removed from the game. In the more epic police parkour chases it feels very much Jackie Chan the videogame, which is awesome. The more puzzle centric levels such as the node rooms are a welcome change in pace with the player encouraged to be creative. The open world is very large and you are positively influenced to not follow the runner vision as 90% of the time, your own routes will be faster.

    As a fan of the original game it is frustrating to see classic settings like the shard way below their original glory, but it still plays unlike most games out there. It is very familiar and for fans of the original game that is no bad thing. But if you come to this game expecting a new evolution that truly makes it shine amongst the pile of first person shooters and action platformers.. Sorry to say but this is not that game.

    Overall if you enjoyed the original buy it and enjoy it. If you are not a fan of the original, this will not change your mind.

    Dont listen to people that hate this game based on gameplays from youtube, the game is beautiful, the city is amazing, you can spend hours just watching the streets and buildings, and when it's nightime it has that blade runner style that fits perfectly. Faith and the other characters are amazing and the gameplay its definitly the best part, at 60fps all the time, just perfect.

    Extremely short and it doesn't leave you satisfied.

    There is almost no interaction aside from the "dialogue" (which was good), which at the end doesn't matter, there is absolutely /zero/ gameplay, the story was okay (aside from the terrible ending) and that's Firewatch.

    Simple and short.

    I decided to wait a while and got this game 33% off and I can say that I really have enjoyed this game. First time when i played through the levels I thought they were long and super interesting but playing them the second and third time they are actually very short and quite simple (but that's just the first time charm i guess) so the levels aren't really something to buy for either. But the thing that I like the most is the open-world map. It actually is larger than I expected (I did have a bit low standards in the beginning, but still it's quite huge) and very detailed. The different districts are visually very different and gameplay vise every place feels unique! (I mean the places are build around running, jumping, sliding, wallrunning and using the grappling hook with some mixes of them all and still none of the places feel repetitive). Also in my opinion the parkour is even better in this game than the first one. I'm surprised that some people may say that "you just end up going back and forth the same routes" because in my opinion that's completely wrong. I mean there is a lot of places where you keep going back and fourth like bridges and the main hub but everything else is very open and free to explore. The rooftops do have so many different ways to go, some quicker than other. (Like still today I even find new collectables in small ways and places I've never visited or went through.) Also about the races and other missions(/different skinned races) are very strict and I love that! Of course it doesn't make sense when the delivery is ruined when you're five fricking centimeters away from the guy but that hard difficulty is something I want from a game. So all in all I understand if you think the games seems boring but for me, I love playing my own music (or listening to the great soundtrack) and just running around the rooftops. (Oh yeah I mean the story is not like that great but I think we've all got used to that from big AAA-games) Expand

    The cons: Graphics are sometimes not great when you stop to look at the detail textures, there isn't much there, i suppose you could say that the city is called crystal city so hence not much detail but the thing i noticed the most was if you stop and look at a wall and walk up to the wall (like at the bird mans place where i noticed it) the texture would drop in and then when i step back it would drop out again. Story is not great but neither was the first one so don't expect to have your mind blown or a gripping tale. I did find the linear levels a bit more enjoyable than the open world (it was BORING!) but the game is based around exploring the open world which involves parcel delivery service and speed run and well..... i didn't get very far in to this to discover all of it because i couldn't be bothered with wasting anymore of my time. The characters are cliche, the a.i are zombies, the hand to hand combat (yes no more guns) is great when your free running but awful when your just standing there trying to hit them like a robot. the free running is good but that is all there is and after 2 hours i was bored of free running.

    If all you want is to free run (because that is all of the gameplay) for i don't know about 30 hours collecting every little thing and completing every side activity then you'll probably like this game. But for me they should of stuck to linear levels which would of been shorter but that is what made the first one great, that it wasn't stretched out with pointless filler. This open world has nothing to do except run around and complete boring objectives and collect pointless things which gets old really quick.

This time, the developers took out the mechanic where you can disarm a hostile from their firearm and use it against them, making it an excuse to use the mediocure combat but if including during the free running, it makes the combat actually a bit more enjoyable. But with the horrid AI, the game lacks any depth and challenge as all you have to do it stun them with a hard attack and three hits with the normal attack to really just end the fight. The game is a huge disappointment with its lack of any depth mechanics, story, characters, and any other that makes the game stick out more. I'd say wait for a huge price drop like 20 or under. I loved the first Mirror's Edge so much that I completed every achievement and beat every time entry, I could complete a level at repetition because of how often I played it. When Mirror's Edge Catalyst was announced, I lost it; I was ecstatic!

    But then I played it and did not like how I have to collect security chips, data chips, the memory globes...I want to run and parkour, not go scavenging hunting. I also didn't like how I wasn't able to commander my opponents weapon nor was I able to disarm them easily, I also did not enjoy how I had to "learn" my moves that I originally had the first time around in the first Mirror's Edge. Each level in the original Mirror's Edge was different than the last, unique; but this open world kept a repetitive streak going the same places through the same areas over and over.

    Another thing I was confused over was is this game a prequel or reboot? If it's a prequel, how does [SPOILERS] Faith's sister, Kat, go from CEO of KrugerSec to being just a cop? Also, it wasn't explained what the tattoo on her arm meant and why did Faith get a tattoo on her eye? And if it was a reboot.....no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No reboot is necessary for Mirror's Edge, it's a timeless game that I play now on my PC frequently still to this day; a reboot would be a declaration that the original Mirror's Edge wasn't good enough to build on, which would be a HUGE diss on the fans.

    Eight years later, we got a bundle of missed opportunities. ME:C brings nothing new to the table, doesn't utilize its additions, is so bland in its design and storytelling, so devoid of variation in its gameplay, it's actually quite a shame to behold.

    Maybe the open world approach could have worked if there was anything interesting to do, but apart from the handful of main missions - which don't take long to play through, mind you - almost ALL side missions are timed runs with short, incredibly lame backstories that just don't make sense, given to you by lifeless quest-giver-robots that wait all day for a runner to pass by, only to give them something to get from A to B within a minute, because all of a sudden it's THAT urgent. It doesn't get lazier than this, it really doesn't. Okay, there are a couple of enjoyable, slower-paced room puzzles you can solve to unlock fast travel points, but as I said, it's just a handful. The rest of the open world activities consist of what Assassin's Creed loves to do in abundance: collect stuff lying on some rooftop for meager rewards. Wow, the creative department really went all out here.

    Remember wondering how Skyrim would manage to differentiate its regions within such a narrow cultural focus, and then marveling at how Bethesda did just that with aplomb when you first got your hands on the game? Yeah, no such luck here. The city of Glass looks incredibly samey (with one exception), and I'm actually convinced it looks less natural than it's 2008 predecessor. I don't know how they did that, given the technological advancement, but despite its art style, ME looks more real, more convincing, more like an actual place than ME:C, and it offered more visual variation, too. When ME:C gets the neon lighting theme going, you wouldn't even know by just looking that the game isn't supposed to be set in some kind of virtual reality. This artificiality exacerbates the world's lifeless and empty impression. It SHOULD look impressive, but somehow - again, despite its striking art style - it manages not to. And that's got nothing to do with the struggling framerate and the pop-ins. The graphics aren't on par with GTA 5 insofar as how many different textures you have in every single shot of the latter game. Here it's just white plastic, plastic, plastic as far as the eye can see, so it doesn't make sense to me why the engine is struggling so hard to keep up. To make things worse, the designers had no idea how to personalize their city. Again, think of GTA, think of Skyrim, think of the Witcher, to what lengths the designers went to give every location its own look, even if it was just something you never interact with, something you don't need for the game, something nine out of ten gamers just pass by. Those are works of art, made with lots of love. Here there's terribly little variation, most of the time you can't even tell where you are on the map, and I'm not talking about the art style that necessitates a certain degree of sameyness. A sandbox game has to immerse the players, make it easy for them to suspend their disbelief and convince themselves they are in an actual place. But Glass is just a thin facade for race tracks. No original thought, no clever idea, just the most basic distinctions to get by.

    The dynamic soundtrack by Solar Fields (the project is actually just one man, Magnus Birgersson) serves the game really well, but didn't quite connect with me. Although Birgersson had also created the first game's music, I missed the underlying melancholy and character he'd put into it, as well as the themes which this outing seems to be lacking. This is strongly subjective, though, it's still a competent score. The sound is, too. The voice work, however, is in its best moments nothing to write home about, which shouldn't come as a surprise, given what the actors had to work with. But I will say that Faye Kingslee who voices Faith doesn't have any business near a microphone, except for doing cereal commercials. She sounds about as natural, convincing and captivating as Robert Carlyle in the Castlevania reboot.

    The story is yawn-inducingly predictable without a trace of imagination, and you can almost hear the pencil check off the genre's oldest clichés one by one. The whole premise which in more capable hands could have invoked Orwell and Huxley completely goes to waste. Instead we get absolutely nothing new or, God forbid, even thought-provoking, but trite, uninventive and horribly boring plot points that were considered old 20 years ago. Believe me, you have seen ALL aspects of this story a thousand times before. To add insult to injury, the dramaturgy - well, what little there is - is handled remarkably incompetently, with major plot points just falling by the wayside, never to be mentioned again, and redundant "plot twists" you see coming from a mile away - and which go absolutely nowhere and are probably just there because the trainee who wrote this has a book from 1987 where it says that a story needs this plot twist for some reason. It's surprising that something this dull and inept got greenlit for an A release in 2016.

    Believe it or not, the characters fare even worse: uninteresting, unlikeable cardboard-cutouts with as much personality as a guest character in an A-Team episode, with the main protagonist being the worst offender. When the game gives you no reason to like or at least be interested in the character it expects you to play for 7-8 hours (yes, that's actually all you need for the main story), it's got a fundamental problem. A good story and intriguing characters can turn a mediocre game into a truly enjoyable experience, but in this department Dice dropped the ball 50 floors deep.

    The parkour is good, in parts even great (although there are some points where the otherwise competent controls get inexplicably finicky), but here's the next problem: ME was a level-based game, which made for a more focused, stringent, complete-feeling overall experience. But for a sandbox game, running, jumping and sliding just gets you so far before you yearn for some variety, something to mix things up. You'll traverse slides, vents, boxes, pipes and ladders hundreds of times, and the magnetic grappling hook can only be used at a few pre-determined points - and that's pretty much it for the most part. Sure, in a first-person shooter you mostly shoot, too, but there's a whole lot of pacing involved. Suspensefully feeling your way forward, frantic all-out action, and a lot in between. Here there's just running at the top of your lungs and using half a dozen in-game objects over and over and over again. That's even bearable for a level-based game, concentrated in small doses, but in a sandbox the few things you can do feel like even less, and the lack of variety contributes to the world's feeling of emptiness. There's nowhere near enough core gameplay variation as there needs to be for an open world game.

    Which brings us to the combat, which is a necessary evil at best (in that it DOES give you variety) and ridiculous at worst. Evading the baddies and looking for a quick way out of the danger zone is exhilarating, but sometimes the game puts you into an arena and forces you to stand and fight, and this is where the simplistic, botched combat system rears its ugly head. Your most effective way of dealing with the opposition is to find a higher point to climb and jump down on your opponent, rinse and repeat. That makes for a good Monty Python skit, but not for a gripping combat system. I'm not sure what Dice aimed for here.

    That, of course, cannot be said for most aspects of the game. I can see the ideas behind most of the design choices - they're just not well executed and mostly devoid of imagination and creativity. And for such a beloved, once refreshingly original and daring franchise which seemed to be doomed because of financial underperformance, only to get another A release eight years later, that's just a crying shame. I wanted to give ME:C a 5 to get it out of the red zone because the parkour is fun for an hour or two, but the rest of the game is so remarkably lazy, uninventive, bland and forgettable, and with 2008's ME available for way less money and much more enjoyment, I just can't. One of the biggest disappointments of 2016.

    ok this is one the best games i played in 2016 . honestly everything about this game is good . the story is good not perfect but its better than mirrors edge 2008 . graphics is really great specially in pc but its very good in consoles too. game play in unbelievably good its so soft . actually its awesome.

Before the game was released, I had expected a lot. especially landscape of huge city and the graphics. but when i run this game, I was really disappointed. because graphic and modelling of characters are really bad. it seems like the game Garry's mod 10 years ago.

    I was a big fan of the first game. When I heard about this one I was really excited. I have played the game through till the end and I really enjoyed. I play many games and have been playing games for over 30 years now. So I think my opinion is worth something. This is not the best game I ever played but it was a fun and unique.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was a huge fan of the first game, beat everything and got everything. This game was a huge disappointment for the following reasons:

    1. The game is ridiculously short, and by short I mean there are 5 main missions. You can beat the game in a day if you wanted to. There are only 4 side missions and NONE of them do anything story related or anything besides just give you XP.

    2. The side delivery missions are infeasible, I thought at first that I needed to get more upgrades, I got every single upgrade and repeatedly tried many different delivery missions. Even when I did all that and got to the destination as physically possible, I still never make it.

    3. THERE IS NO POINT TO DO ANYTHING EXCEPT THE MAIN MISSION. I touched on this in my first point but getting all the data leaks, access hubs, security towers; there simply is no impact to the story or game for doing these things, just a way to make the game appear longer then it is.

    The animations and the combat system are the only good things but even then, the combat is still limited and there are a lot of **** moments with the combat.

    I'm now going to talk about spoilers from here down:

    The story was beyond predictable, the second I saw Icarus when getting out of jail, I knew he was working for the enemy, Its beyond obvious. The second I saw Noah I knew he was going to die and it would be a dramatic witnessing of Faith seeing the death. Birdman along with other side characters are never resolved in the story, they are simply NPCs put there to give you time wasting quests. THE ENDING WAS BEYOND RETARTED! so what happened to Dogen, what happened to Gabriel Kruger? She says everything just went back to the way it was? THEN WHY EVEN PLAY THE GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE?! There is a reason movies no longer do the "It was just a dream" ending because they realized the audience hated it and would say "Then what was the point?" Faith's sister goes back to Kruger's company after she found her long lost sister for no reason. Then instead of having the arm chip grafted to her arm, we find out its just a tattoo this whole time.....

    TL;DR this game is DEFIANTLY NOT WORTH IT, I spent 60$ on it and the pre-order, the pre-order rewards were **** and the game itself is worth 10$. If you were a fan of the original YOU WILL HATE THIS GAME.

    I was skeptical about the open world setting, linear games are typically better, more focused, and I seriously loved the first Mirror's Edge but bottom line, this is where Mirror's edge belongs. The world they have crafted is just too perfect to lock it down to linear missions. And I always did kind of have that feeling in the first one.

    It always bums me out when a video game gives you an amazing city skyline but doesn't really let you explore any of it. That is not the case with this one. You get to explore most of the highlights of this amazing city. One of which is the new "Shard" which looks like it's at least 1 mile tall if not 2 (so cool).

    the graphics are great for the most part. 900p is a big drawback though. Like most 900p games it always looks fuzzy and frankly subpar. Otherwise the game is gorgeous and features an amazing art style, excellent lighting, nice reflections, and surprisingly great character models and facial animations. Sometimes there are some subpar decals/textures though (the ALLCOM logos next to many of the circuit boxes)

    The story is another big surprise. It does somewhat retread some elements of the first game (it is based on the same basic plot ideas after all, it's mirror's edge) but otherwise it was much better than I expected and infinitely better than the first game. I didn't mind the story in the first game but it was at times way too cheesey. This on the other hand was much more mature and well written in addition to being less predictable but I won't go into spoilers.

    Overall, this is a perfect sequel, it is everything I hoped it would be, and for that I'm giving it a perfect score.

    And seriously F%^& all the idiotic haters. It's the first game all over again with these idiotic reviews and moronic gamers. People always want something unique and innovative until they actually get it. You all can burn in hell. EA took a risk making this game, and because of dicks like you people, we might not get a third one

Combat is the weakest part of the game, still work and is more fluid without guns. However, it can feel clunky at times and the subtraction of guns should have included the addition of combos. Also, you can't counter anymore which is a huge minus. Every other aspect of Gameplay is great. The reason I included Aesthetics in this part is because the Aesthetics help the feel of the Gameplay. I've said this of the last Mirror's Edge game and I'll say it of this one, this is the best art style of any game ever. The only other major series I could think of would be Final Fantasy, but I love this art style so much. The Aesthetics give a great feeling to the Gameplay. If you're running for an extended period of time, some music should begin to play to heighten that feeling. Without the Aesthetics, the Gameplay would feel and be worse, dropping this game's rating significantly.

    Next comes the Narrative, which fails to engage. It starts very well and ends very well, but the middle there's a severe lack of character development. This happens a lot in open-world games and is why they shouldn't have gone with this model, but more on that later. The narrative itself is a rag-tag group of runners living on the edge of a corporate world, trying to survive and deal revolutionaries and the evils of individualism. It's Marxism 101, we could've handled the corporations, but without all of the philosophical grandstanding, which is quite ironic because the most evil corporation of them all, EA, published this game. If you would learn about the difficulties and oppression through actual story, rather than **** side quests, it would allow for greater character development. The story was just too childish, it would've been much better in the hands of someone like George R.R. Martin, it needs to be darker.

The story may not be perfect, but it's really interesting and it features some great characters like Noah or Icarus.     Story, story is below **** your faith with the runner group then the runner group that does jobs gets caught taken out now faith joins a resistance group that actually does **** like kill and blow up building's, idk about you but why the **** is the runners more important to take down, and omg the city is so empty there is no one around anywhere, well I did see some people doing construction but then again I'm sure they are there to complete the game since the dev group didn't manage to.

    Gameplay, the game has an identity crisis going on right now cause it wants to be a beat'em up but at the same time keep its running simulator feel at the same time, so your running around then the game says **** you run in a circle while fighting these **** and you cant progress until your done.
    unlike the first this game has a health bar or bar(s) with a 'runner's shield', which is just how many times can I get shot before my health starts to go down even though I have nothing besides the air to prevent these bullets from hitting me.
    And yes if you were never wanting it there's a leveling system in this game for some **** reason.
    the running is fueled as it can be not better then the first.
    combat is literally run around the area until you build up your shield then attack a guard, depending on the guard certain moves work on them but I mainly just slide kick them then side kick there head, then ran around some more and go at it again.
    Glitches, it felt like they copied some of the fault from Assassins creed with its free roaming cause I found myself not jumping to locations I need to go or jumping through the zip line instead of grabbing it. the worst was the end I felt at this point they rushed the game since I had a hard time opening 2 doors, I ran up around and even had faith put her hand on the door with no result, then when she finally opened it not 5 minutes later I found another door that wouldn't open, this one was faster to respond though.

    Overall, this game is a free roam, running simulator with an unneeded combat sections, lazy story, leveling system you really don't need to level, and a dev group that's probably thinking we ****ed up but still made millions.
    and by the end of it I turned off the game deleted it, and said 'oh lord in heaven please rid me of these thoughts from this game' and god reached down and gave me Final Fantasy VII.

The story I like and its recommended if you like futuristic games, it really does look great! The only reason why I give a 9 is cause its a little pricey, if you wait for discount it will feel more worth it.     Just amazing! Good story, characters, exploring, collecting, platforming, gameplay and design! DICE really stepped up from the last game! There is also some old school platforming goodness in this game. I really hope that they get to make a second (third) game! That would be awesome!

    Don't buy this game. They didn't test it before releasing. It's full of frustrating **** cuz too many things were poorly designed. Also, graphics on PS4 is eww. Textures loading in your face, **** shadows, low res skin textures, frame drops.. awful.
    Clearly raw and untested product.

    Sorry but for me, the controls are waaaaay strange, the story from the start just not interresting and the whole jump here follow the red there...... there is no free choice.

    Having been a fan of the first Mirrors Edge back when I was a kid in 2008 (a game I’ve also replayed over and over as of recently), as an adult I was happy to hear that a new game was being made.

    Mirrors Edge Catalyst took what made the first game so great, and truly improved upon it. Movement feels more fluid, combat is less bothersome, and there's a bunch of activities that make you feel what the first installment lacked. Actually performing the tasks of a runner.

    When Mirrors Edge Catalyst revealed that it would have character upgrades, I was a little worried, but that worry was soon lifted as I was quick to find all the basic movements from the first game were very easy to unlock within the first 40 minutes of gameplay (opening tutorial and a short mission or two). The open world aspect is something that I had originally really wanted the first game to have. I dreaded the linear paths of the first game, and felt like I was having to follow predefined markings even after figuring out the most optimal routes. In Mirrors Edge Catalyst I’m able to run as I want, where I want, and make up my own paths as I please. The addition of grappling across far away rooftops and scaling insanely tall platforms fits well with the pre-existing game mechanics too.

    The combat in Mirrors Edge Catalyst is a very bold change from the original. The combat in the original Mirrors Edge generally infuriated me, and just felt out of place. Hand to hand combat was nearly impossible, and picking up guns made it feel like a whole other game than it was intended. When I could, I would simply run circles around the enemies while waiting for an elevator to arrive.
    In Mirrors Edge catalyst the combat is streamlined to fit Faiths fast paced nature. Ziplining and springboarding into enemies and following up with a wall run attack is very satisfying. When you’re fighting enemies with no momentum however, things get a little tougher. Enemies become less forgiving, and you’re less likely to be able to take them all out unless you can coordinate your attacks. It really encourages you to combine parkour skills with your environment to make your attacks more effective. Having a fully body whack an enemy in the face is more effective than simply punching and kicking them in a still position (and makes you feel like a badass).

    Mirrors Edge Catalyst also managed to make me feel what I didn’t get to in the original. Actually participating in the tasks of of runner. You can do different sorts of deliveries, and they all have time constraints forcing you to move as optimally as you can. One missed skill roll, or mistake generally results in failing to complete the delivery as it hurts your time. While this could be infuriating for people less in tune with the game's mechanics, I enjoyed the diehard challenge often spending a good 10 - 20 minutes trying to successfully complete the deliveries. Each time making subtle changes to my route and actions to shave off time. When finally completing the deliveries there's a huge rush of relief and accomplishment. I also get a similar feeling with the user generated time trials in Mirrors Edge Catalyst, except when you complete a time trial, your time is posted and compared against other people who have done the same time trial, and you’re then encouraged to improve your time in order to get as close to the top of the leaderboards as possible (I personally can't resist trying to get to the top of them).

    I’ll briefly talk about the story, but, its not the reason I purchased this game (the first game set my barriers quite low for the story). I consider it a massive improvement over the original Mirrors Edge. I found I cared more about the characters I interacted with, and theres also some funny comic relief. I felt like there were many more emotions that were conveyed than the original story wise, and I commend DICE for improving the game in that department. You learn different story bits through both the main story line as well as scavenging around the map and uncovering recordings. With that said, don’t expect an award winning story. Its not a bad story, and its a MASSIVE improvement over the original. However, if you’re only looking at only getting the game for the story, and not the gameplay itself, there's other games you might enjoy more.

    To end things off, Mirrors Edge Catalyst is an improvement over every facet of the original. Is it perfect? No. The original wasn’t either. But even after finishing the story of the game there's still tons of stuff to do. As the months and years go by, expect there to be a ton of user generated content to continue playing. If you were a fan of the game mechanics of the first game, but found the amount of stuff to do afterwards a very underwhelming, this game is for you. If you’ve never played a Mirrors Edge game before, this game might be hit or miss. If you don't enjoy this as your first game going into the series, chances are you won't even like the original.

    While there’s nothing else out there that can deliver the thrill of racing across this vast city and scaling massive buildings using insane parkour techniques, the sense of wonder isn’t as strong as before. Catalyst is held back by a horrendous combat system and a lackluster story that takes itself too seriously. If you can get past its flaws, you’ll find Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is still a modest platformer.

    Catalyst is an example of how bigger doesn't always have to mean better. Some games don't benefit from becoming an open world adventure and should stick to what worked well, even amazing in the original. Catalyst unfortunately, traded quality for quantity.
