Faith runs with freedom in a game that feels as fresh as the original and gives a step forward in every aspect. If parkour is a religion, DICE is its particular Holy See.

DICE fixed nearly everything wrong with the original, expanded the world and made traversal faster and more exciting in every way.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst respects the legacy of the first game. Actually, it is neither better nor worse than its predecessor but the fact that it is a reboot allows a new audience to approach the series. The number of activities, the argument and 30 hours of gameplay make up for the bleak atmosphere of Glass City. DICE seems to have laid strong foundations this time and perhaps this is just the beginning of a new Mirror's Edge series.

Faith has put her running shoes back on and delivers a great free-running experience. The game looks fantastic and the gameplay is smooth. There are a few annoying things in the game like almost invisible glass, but still this is a game you should own.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst doesn't surprise anymore. Clean aesthetics and fluent, chained parkour movements are still there, although EA DICE decided to develop a sandbox game. If you are a fan, you won't see many differences and you will see some debatable design choices. If you haven't played the first one, give Catalyst the chance to surprise you.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is an improvement on all the things people loved in the original game. If it has a fault, it is that sometimes these improvements are just not as big as they should have been.

Mirror's Edge: Catalyst is a step above its predecessor in almost every way. No, it's not perfect, but when everything seamlessly blends together – the parkour, the speed, the city, the gameplay and the graphics – this is an experience like no other.

Catalyst works best when you’re ignoring its fiction, moving through its three-dimensional celebration of neoplasticism, crafting an experience that unfolds in an exhilarating interplay of form and motion and light.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst drops the ball here and there but the City of Glass and the parcours-gameplay are good enough to leave a lasting impression.

With the addition of an open world, Mirror's Edge Catalyst successfully builds upon the fun, free running gameplay of the original to deliver exhilarating, high-altitude action. It's perplexing that, while demonstrating a clear understanding of what the first game did so well, this reboot still forces you – albeit relatively infrequently – into unsatisfying combat. Like Faith herself, this release is at its best when it's on the run, and while the combat, story, and characters do cause it to stumble occasionally, it never actually falls.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst makes some major missteps in the story and character department, but hey, that's what the mute button is for...More important is that when the action is go and Faith is in full stride, Mirror's Edge Catalyst is as thrilling and sure-footed as they come.

DICE may have failed to address all of the problems of its predecessor, but it completely re-captured what Mirror’s Edge was all about. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is a great way to bring new fans–and old fans alike–back into the world of Faith Connors.

If you loved the original Mirror’s Edge, you will likely love Catalyst as well. On the other hand, the same issues that some people had with the first game are still present in Catalyst. This doesn’t feel like it’s going to win over any non-fans of the franchise. Yet, I wouldn’t say that is a bad thing. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst knows exactly what it is, and more importantly what it is not. It is a stylish platforming game that just so happens to be in the first-person perspective; it is not a shooter, and it is not for everyone.

Is there space in the gaming world for a first-person platformer? Absolutely, but I feel like the design decisions behind Mirror's Edge Catalyst limit the number of people it will ultimately appeal to. If it is "for you," you'll probably love it. If you're not sure about the first-person viewpoint or limited navigational tools, though, I recommend giving it a rental or a try-out with a friend's copy. It's a good game, but I can't guarantee it's one you'll enjoy playing.

If you can look past the weak story and the dull characters, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has some of the best gameplay mechanics on the current gen by far.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is quite a good game, but not the exceptional one we were expecting and looking for. The new open world scheme is good, while the main campaign is nothing to cheer for.

Eight years after, unlike the always on-the-run Faith Connors, Mirror's Edge finds itself in the same, exact place we left it. Unfortunately, DICE promised something more. Like the original, Catalyst is the ultimate expression of virtual parkour, but it never manages to create a real connection with the player.

It's not bad, with its sprawling white city and hard-to-resist freerunning gameplay. However, a disappointing story and graphics that don't always feel up-to-date keep it from joining the pantheon of current-gen genius.

The combat struggles to keep the level of the platforming on this new iteration of the Mirror’s Edge series. Catalyst is a nice mix between an amazing open world and an immersive first-person action experience.

Mirror’s Edge feels far more refreshing now than it ever did eight years ago because in those eight years, first-person shooters have become ridiculously widespread, and the only other first-person options are more sedately-paced, heavily story-driven, and control-light. Catalyst sits in the middle of it all, imperfect, yet special in its own way.

By celebrating freedom, the game enables the player to marvel at the richness of its action. When that freedom is restricted, everything that goes with it—movement, agency, nuance—are muted to the point of being dull and dreary, a far cry from the saturated playground we’ve come to expect.

While Mirror’s Edge Catalyst opens up the city rather than confining you to discrete levels, its design woes feel precisely like the original. The odds of me clearing a mission on the first try were approximately zero. Not because my reflexes weren’t up to snuff—I swear it!—but simply because the missions are so tightly timed, the positioning so precise, that there really isn’t any time to figure out what the plan’s going to be: you simply have to do. And while that may (I can only assume) genuinely recreate the sorts of fast decisions you’d have to make if you were really trying to outrun the cops on foot, it doesn’t make for a game experience that feels fair.

They've taken Mirror's Edge and solved its every flaw, while also adding many of the things that fans wished for. The open world is gorgeous and incredibly fun to run around in, the story is exciting and touching and the characters feel much more alive. It took me about 7 and a half hours to finish the story of the game, which is also a huge step up from the original's 2 and a half hour story mode. And I still can't put the game down, thanks to its plethora of side activities that are just as fun as the original game's time trials.

If there's anything I'd complain about in this game, it would only be that the ending of the story didn't really reach much of a conclusion. I was hoping for the protagonist's actions in the story to have more of an impact, but to be honest, the ending made sense and it was actually very refreshing to get a story that doesn't have an overly happy ending.

There's a lot more that I would love to say about this game, but I'm not very good at expressing myself in text, so I'll let the short description of what I liked and disliked and the score I gave speak for those masses of thoughts I have for this game.

I was a fan of the original. This game is more of the same with a story just as weak as the original. The gameplay is very good with some quirks just like the original. The AI is very bad just like the original. So like me if you liked the original you will probably enjoy this. 7.5 for me. Stupid internet.

This game can be explained in four words lifeless, wasted potential and boring.

When I first heard the idea of open world Mirror's Edge I was excited sadly this is just plain trash, you no longer can pick up weapons for some reason, the characters are terrible just awful, the story is short and awful, the combat is clunky and buggy, the world design is horrible and the parkour is ruined by even more linear levels than the first game when this is supposed to be open world.

I am dumbfounded by how trash this game is, never buy this not even for a single dollar.
