    It is rare that I buy a game on its release date, but as a huge fan of the Mass Effect series I did upon the release of Andromeda and I am very disappointed to say that I regret it enormously. It is without a doubt one of the worst games in recent years. It already starts at character creation. The faces are simply ugly. There is no other way to put it and no amount of editing can make them attractive. It is so bad that it renders the game almost unplayable. I literally had to start a new game with a different face 5 times before I finally had created a face that was somewhat bearable. That's ridiculous for a RPG. It's the first time that has ever happened to me. I've altered the settings so that the character's helmet is on most of the time, which helps somewhat. But there are still cutscenes where the helmet is removed. Of course if that was the only thing wrong with the game it would be something to overcome and perhaps fix in a future patch, but sadly there is much, much more wrong with it. The story is almost non-existent, the NPC's are uninteresting, the side quests are boring and is most cases simply an exercise in futility. The replay value is limited because there are no class restrictions. One of the great things about the previous Mass Effect games was that you could play them again as a different class and get a completely different game experience. But in this game it is all lumped together. As a Vanguard you can specialize in skills of an Infiltrator, or an Engineer, or a Biotic. It completely ruins the replayability. And you get so many skill points (I easily reached level 62 on my first playthrough) that you can try out pretty much every skill you want and still have points to spare. It's ridiculous. The game is also filled with bugs that sometimes even cause quests to break or hang. The first patch has actually made things worse. The AI in your head won't shut up. Telling you the temperature is below freezing, and then normal again, and then below freezing again, and then normal again, and so on. But that very same information is already on the screen, so there is no need for the AI to tell you about it. It's just purely annoying. As an experienced gamer you will know what to do as soon as you enter a location. And you'll do it. But in this game you will enter a location, see the terminal that you have to activate and then wait for a minute while your AI explains to you in an excruciatingly slow voice that you have to activate the terminal. This game is completely void of any thing that makes it interesting. The game keeps you busy, but at no point does it entertain. This game is the complete opposite of the previous Mass Effect games. Those were great, this is garbage. Even if a future patch fixes the bugs, gives you the option to shut your AI up, makes the faces of the player character less ugly, it still leaves you with a terribly designed game that is boring an annoying. If you absolutely must buy this game and see for yourself how bad it is, don't buy it now as you can get it a discount soon enough. But my advise is to keep your money in your pocket and keep the memory of the greatness of the previous Mass Effect games intact.… Expand

    This game is a dumpster fire. As a Bioware fan (and huge fan of the first three) this game was such a disappoint. I did not really get into the story until I completed the Ryder family secrets, which at first appears to a major trolling mission until you realize that it may very well be the most important aspect of the game (and the most interesting part of the game but only until you getThis game is a dumpster fire. Before that point it is infuriating collecting them all). As for the game itself I felt like one massive troll. 99% of the missions just have you running around the galaxy solving everyone's minor issues as if you were space Jesus (like setting up antennas or finding new ingredients to make beer or hooking up a Krogan with an Agaran). Also, most of the missions have NOTHING to do with the plot and everything to do with lazy colonists not willing to take care of their own **** I could not get invested in the main story and I could really care less about my crew mates (I despised talking to most of them, like Liam, that guy is a waste of time, I actually missed the first three games where I loved the characters - except Ashley, who is probably a Trump supporter). Loyalty missions don't matter and it seems they took out all the things that made Mass Effect awesom (the power wheel, omnigel, characters you could get invested in, a plot that was worthwhile, great antagonists, creepy aliens, control over your crew mates in battle so you can get biotic and tech combos, even weapons on the Nomad). The main antagonists, the Kett, are just a bunch of faceless rubes that are easy to put down. And the Remnant are a poor replacement for the Geth. It is also very buggy and glitchy. I had so many game breaking glitches that corrupted saves that I lost count. And what is the deal with making your character? Somehow they managed to screw that up as well!!! The main mission is complete write off Mass Effect Andromeda is a massive waste of time that actually hurt the franchise. Why does EA need to destroy everything it touches? Mass Effect is poor man's Fallout 4, completely lacks any imagination. Honestly, I could care less if they released a second one in the series.… Expand

    I am a bioware fan, I almost always defend them. I can't do it this time. I don't care about the technical problems, or animations. The writing is terrible, I can't exactly put my finger on what is wrong with this game. I keep playing hoping it will get better. Nothing has happened yet that makes me want to keep playing to see where it goes, i have no interest in the conversations either.I am a bioware fan, I almost always defend them. I saw Peebee T-pose across my screen in a conversation with Kallo through the escape pod.

    Jogo lixo serio 5 years + $40M meu deus I'm not even going to mention the infamous animation problem but I will say its very disappointing that a AAA studio with a large budget and 5-8 years of development time could not address this obvious flaw

    If you truly enjoyed Andromeda you are not a fan of the franchise. We, the fans, play Mass Effect for its writing, the script. The story driven game. ME Andromeda is so poorly written that even my dog can write better dialogue lines. The combat is just good because EA wanted MULTIPLAYER, that's why they put effort in combat mechanics in detriment of the plot and choices.     An end of a legendary game series for me. I have spent hundreds of hours of previous mass effects but this is just unplayable. The shallow writing is just too much. Storytelling was the foundation of Bioware, but it has since morphed into this horror.

The dialog's range from safe space answer to normal response no variation and there are no consequences for choosing any answer.     The characters are bland, the animations are terrible, every single model seems like very poorly developed or rushed out of the door, same with their movements.     That being said, space exploration is pretty boring, the galaxy map is a chore to navigate and the glitches and bugs that are a NO-NO for a triple A studio.

    The music is uninspiring, there's no Clint Mansell, Jack Wall or even Sam Hulick, it doesn't even come close to the previous Mass Effect. One of the things i mostly liked about Mass Effect was the music, and Andromeda fails terribly at accomplishing a decent soundtrack.

    Then we have generic enemies, some harbinger pimp-like trying to run the galaxy as he sees fits, but it falls flat, because instead of being scary and creepy, it's hilariously ridiculous.
    At least in the previous games there was a sense of urgency, an impending doom and constant threat of death... and don't even get me started on the ending, it makes ME3 ending looks like a masterful piece of art.

    Then moving on to the next topic, we have this constant and cringe-worthy sense of humour between characters, the unnecessary jokes and useless dialogues that makes the game look like a sitcom. 0 drama or tension at all.

    As for the Multiplayer, it's just useless, us true ME fans couldn't care less about the MP and i get the feeling they rushed the single player campaign just to focus on the MP.

    I'm truly disappointed and i'm glad i decided to step back in my pre-order and cancel it on time.
    The SJW pandering and the liberal agenda is also one of the biggest problems this game has, it has been taken over by people that shoehorned personal views and political ideologies in game.

    All in all, a forgettable experience and wouldn't recommend it unless it's $15 or $20 at best. Don't fall for the hype, this will never be a Mass Effect game.

    A faulty product where everything is half-baked, with the exception of normal and facial animations which are just in class of its own when it comes to utter failure. Not to mention Male Ryder only has 1 human female option, which is just dumb, SJW propaganda is strong with this one.

    Please ME fanboys, don't support this unfinished game. It is not $60 worth. We have Miranda in the past, now, the game has only ugly female characters, it is not fair. I hope that Bioware can learn with mistakes and do a better game that indeed will make people enjoy it.

    This game should not have been part of the Mass Effect universe. I thought that Bioware would have learnt their lesson from ME3 but Noooo they got even worse. Everything about this game is Terri-bad, from the writing to the voice acting and don't let me get started with the animations. Shame on you Bioware for releasing this piece of sh*t that you call a game.

I liked giving one partner a sniper rifle and setting him up in a sniper position and ordering other characters to use specific skills during a fight.

You probably already know that the animation and character models are awful, however that's nothing compared to the dialogue, which is beyond terrible.     The only place where this game isn't abysmal is gameplay. The controls are actually pretty fluid. To bad the awful enemy AI ruins it. No where is this as apparent as in multiplayer where enemies literally try to stand on you. Just walking towards your location without regard for their own safety. And on the subject of multiplayer, enemies are in some cases immune to damage, can shoot through walls and their bullets literally follow you around corners. Instead of having them aim or even reloading, they just constantly hit you with a locked on string of bullets and Lazer beams that follow you while jumping and dashing, never actually missing.

    This is the biggest piece of **** I've ever played. The single player is tied to multiplayer, which is designed to be almost unplayable if you don't drop $100 on micritransactions first. Bravo.    … Expand

    This is a typical EA/Bioware formula game. Generic, sophomoric, unoriginal, cut & paste version of what this game could have been. It has poor writing, poor interfaces and poor design. Bioware is no longer the company it once was and these games are proving it.

Well, in a way I don't really know. I quit playing it so early on, in absolute disgust, that -maybe- it gets better. I think my "0" review is fair though.     The color palete in first few maps was off on most characters, everything seemed so bleak to me, white turians why? What is worst everyone who I was talking to looked weird and unbeliavable. There was absolutely no emotion even in the most dramatic scenes, no sadnes, no fear, no joy. How would you talk if your father just died, like this?
    But I am willing to play ansi graphics games if they are fun so actually this made me sad but didnt put me off completely and I decided to play the game anyway. After 40 hour of complete boredom and anoyence I put it off. Every single quest that I did didnt interest me. Many of them dont make any sense. I dont remember a single quest I liked.
    The only NPC I remeber is peebee which I find anoying. As a completionist I tried to talk to everyone to find all quests which in this game equals ask every single colonist why did he decide to travel to Andromeda. It made me start skipping conversation, There is so much meaningless talk in this game... 90% time listen to poor voice acting, 10% game actually do something ...
    The UI is absolute mess. You cant effectively find next side quests, you cant manage your weapon and armor mods, it looks like this is some restriction due to console ports or I dont see why they wold do such terribly clumsy UI. My best mod disapeared because I got more then 50 items without warning .... but to be honest I didnt care a bit about equipment, there was no equipment for my spec. I played biotic in 40 hours of gameplay I didnt get a single biotic gear upgrade and on normal dificulty there was no chalanging fight. All Biotic abilities have such long cooldown you are gonna shoot most of the time anyway.
    Multiplayer is the same as in ME3. What I hate is that everyone has mics on by default and you cant mute them! After hearing heavy breathing and keyboard mashing in all my games and then someone farting all game I just couldnt bear it and quit playing it too, The same problem was in dragon age but they still think its good idea to turn everyones mic on. Why for gods sake!?

Characters pop in and out randomly at points, facial features bleed sometimes, occasional crash, and movement animations make me think this is a playstation 1 game. The dialogue is worse than a Mexican Soap Opera and facial animations are literally inhuman and unnatural. It's like they had some heavily autistic animator animate these characters based on his own understanding of how humans should interact.

    Aside from the unnatural facial animations the faces of the characters are also very ugly and unnatural which compounds the problems when combined with the bad diaologue. I actually looked up the real actors and actresses that they modeled these characters off of and the actresses were far prettier in real life which tells me they either messed up or made them uglier on purpose for some arcane purpose.

    I would've rated this game 4/10 if it were some small independent developer and it cost 19.99 instead of 59.99. But since this is supposed to be a AAA title from one of the largest developers in the industry it's totally unacceptable and it get's a 0.    … Expand

    ME1, ME2, ME3 are about story, characters, species and relations between the latter two.

    ME Andromeda tries to be the same, but it also includes new gameplay layers due to its focus on an outdated openworld concept. The result: It fails at both ME's core elements (see above) and at being a great openworld game.

    It's heart breaking to know they botched this title in a serious way and it shows very clearly. All the positive reviews are also a massive let down from the community as they only serve to support or enable terrible travesties to be made out of a once beloved and well regarded franchise.

    I have canceled my pre-order for a full refund. I refuse to support companies which such a blatant disregard for quality control let alone drop the ball on essential things like facial animation and engaging dialogue. Out of this I will never again pre-order any game from EA or Bioware again.

    Imagine reading the entire Harry Potter series only to discover the last book is absolutely terrible and puts you off the entire thing for good. Now amplify that feeling a thousand times and punch yourself in the face, then you can come close to the kind of let down I'm experiencing. What an utter joke. Shame on the developers. Shame on anyone involved with this title to not step up and speak their mind and protect the franchise.

    Please do not support companies like these responsible for ruining titles and releasing unfinished uninspired botched products that only serve to disappoint you to the highest degree.

    It's quite hard to take this game seriously with the absolutely terrible cutscenes and poorly optimized gameplay. Simply put - it isn't up to the standard it should be. That's not to say everything is bad about it, some of the combat feels quite good, and the sound design is great. But not enough for me to keep this game unfortunately.

Facial animation and all the other glitches are one thing, the simple fact that you simply couldn't care less to the two main protagonists (because they're as bland as a sack of potato) is another. Unlike Shephard, the game removes majority of you meaningful interaction and decision by removing the Paragon/Renegade option. All four options of your dialogue wheels pretty much saying the same thing with a different intonation or sentence structure. If the original Mass Effect trilogy is an epic full-length premium cinema, this is their direct-to-DVD spin off.

    If this is your first RPG however, and you never played Mass Effect before. Go for it. You have no greatness to base on, and the simplified RPG system of this game will serve you well as a training wheel of such genre going forward. Not to mention there will be more than enough flashy combats to keep your attention glued to the screen before you can repeatedly press skip on the next conversation.

    TL;DR, if you're a Mass Effect fan, let the taste of that great masterpiece fade with Shepard instead of being marred by this new release. If you're new to the genre, the franchise, or just looking for a mediocre cover-based shooter masqueraded as a Fischer-Price RPG. This is for you.

    I can not even continue from my trial because the game doesn;t see the saves in your my documents folder, and even disabling cloud, still uses cloud - so they lied about being able to continue your trial.

    Wasted time and money, this makes me hate the game. i do not recommend it, the girls/women in the game have all been hit by the ugly baseball bat and thier animations are stoic    I can not even continue from my trial because the game doesn;t see the saves in your my documents folder, and even disabling cloud, still uses cloud - so they lied about being able to continue your trial.

    Wasted time and money, this makes me hate the game. i do not recommend it, the girls/women in the game have all been hit by the ugly baseball bat and thier animations are stoic robotic like drone -like animations.

    Anytime you start a new game, you have to go through 45 minutes of forced media and introductions without any ability to hit spacebar to skip it or ESC to get out of it, AND you can not save for the first hour.

    -open world is horribly underdeveloped and doesnt mesh well with gameplay (its mostly empty space with very little detail, and for a game that requires for battle cover you quite often get caught out in battles with no cover)
    -story is very underwhelming
    -squadmates are absolutely useless, they just wander into enemies and rarely take cover and also bug out. also you cant utilize their powers anymore as they the system has been scrapped
    -squadmates are super boring, they more or less just hand them to you as compared to say mass effect 2 where there are complex introduction missions and backstories
    -quests are horrible (more or less fetch quests)
    -UI is horrible, navigating via maps and quests is a huge chore, no quicksave, the list goes on and on
    -crafting system is clunky and troublesome
    -just overall low production values (i.e alot of new enemies are just old enemies with different colours and names)

    There are numerous other problems to list but Ill stop otherwise itll just go on and on.     As it stands now this game should not have been released. It's buggy and ugly. Bioware has promised to update it, I'll revisit this score after that happens. For now, do not buy, wait for a big price drop and/or the patches.

    The lack of clear-cut classes limits re-playability of the game. The soundtracks are unimmersive and boring, when compared to the music in the original trilogy. The explorable planets are large, boring, where most of the activity is limited to grindy combat, just like in the Dragon age Inquisition. Facial animations are atrocious, and there are many bugs in this game. The villain in this game is boring, one-dimensional moustache-twirling Hollywood antagonist. All in all, it is a pity that Bioware has not learned from it's mistakes done in DA2, Inquisition and ME3.    … Expand

    Bioware keeps reheating this awful sci-fi junk, like they do with Dragon Age for fantasy hungry fanboys.
    It was fun with the first chapters, but it's been a free fall from there, with the last episodes (Inquisition and this ugly Andromeda) reaching new levels of awfulness.
    Besides, do people seriously think it's fun to have relationships in games?

    This game is just such a disappointment. I'd have given this game a 4/10 if it weren't for my shattered expectations, but we're talking about a AAA developer here building on one of the most popular RPG series ever.

    All they had to do was release a slightly-above-average installment and most fan(boy)s would have been satisfied, but they failed to do even that.

    poor combat, horrible animation, excessive padding, and over-complication. The AI is a mess. If the AI is bad in the first 10 hours, it's going to be bad throughout the game. There's no reason why it would suddenly magically improve later.

    I had been waiting 5 years for this. Return to ME universe and live as space hero once again, meeting interesting characters. enjoy good RPG features and experience great story.
    None of this happened in Andromeda. This game is just laughing stock, everything is so terrible done...BioWare as we knew it, is dead.

    An unfortunate addition to a once-great series. Rife with bugs that cause skips in quest scripting, thus requiring the abandonment of the quest altogether, poor voice acting, perhaps the worst examples of animation in the current generation, and watered down gameplay, Andromeda is better forgotten on by fans of the series and Bioware in general.

Or how about when clearing out a multi tiered structure for a mission, and upon completion of said mission, you walk out the front door victorious only to see all of the turrets and a full company of bad guys that you had just previously destroyed have suddenly respawned and kill you, causing you to replay the last part of the mission again, and forcing you to try and run past the respawned enemies because after the final mission battle you are left beaten and battered and in no condition do deal with these glitches!!! This game is the Mass Effect equivalent of Dragon Age 2 in that it is three steps backwards in every way from it's predecessor. The combat is non responsive and frustrating. Your teammates are absolutely useless because you cannot command them beyond go there and come here. Unlike in ME3 where you could slow down time and switch characters. In this way, developing and skilling up your squad mates was useful because you could switch to them and precisely use their specific abilities to fill in for your own. You could also specifically place you squad mates to be most effective, which added a deeper level of strategy to the combat not found in action rpgs. This system that was so good in ME3 is just gone from ME Androgynous. Oh, and this isn't even mentioning the fugly character models, the ugly romance options and the fact that this was intentionally done because the entire game was made by SJW retards who were more concerned with shoving their ideology down my throat then making a good game, a fact that I didn't know until after purchase.

    All in all, the graphics suck, the combat is horrible, the AI is retarded, your squad mates are useless, the character models are ugly, the acting is terrible, the story is horrendous, and the entire game is buggy as all hell.
    My Recommendation? AVOID THIS GAME AT ALL COSTS!!! IF YOU HAVE MASS EFFECT ANDROGYNOUS, SELL IT BEFORE IT DROPS ANY MORE IN VALUE!!!    … Expand

    It might be the biggest, most complex and action packed game in the franchise, but Mass Effect: Andromeda is also the least convincing one. The dated facial animations, the inconsistent writing quality and the regularly occurring bugs take you out of the experience too often. On top of that, BioWare has not used the concept of a whole new universe to its full potential, which often makes it feel like Mass Effect: Andromeda has not left our Milky Way at all.
