    The worst game I’ve played on PS4. How do you make a game this bad?? Awful story. Lousy gameplay. Micro transactions galore. A shoddy game like this doesn’t even pretend to be anything but a dodgy attempt at grabbing our cash. Straight in the bin.

    The game is a glitch and buggy mess. The co-op is unimaginative and uninspired and is a complete waste of time. Spiderman was promised for the PS4 edition yet still to this day Spiderman has not surfaced. This shows a clear lack of respect for the fan base and people who are willing to pay full price for a brand new video game.     Laughably bullet sponge enemies. The HULK takes 10 to 12 punches to kill an ordinary human with a rifle.. yet one shot from a tiny zapy zap gun sends the hulk backflipping through the air, enemies have un dodgeable un blockable instant kill attacks, brain dead allies. Black panther summons a giant ghost panther

    What a lackluster mediocre attempt at making a game. If I could describe this game in one word it would be generic. The characters are generic. The enemies are generic. The quests and world are generic. The story is literally your generic super hero story. The combat? You guessed it.....generic. So disappointed. Haven't companies learned that the "games as a live service model" is just plain ass?

    Absolutely empty, pointless and trash. Games have become so bad these days in releasing this sort of thing for $60. This is like physical proof of how anyone can throw anything together despite it being poor and put it out there for sale. The gaming community or audience needs to become even more apprehensive about purchases than it already is

    I had played the beta of this game and two of my friends had actually purchased the base game. All I can say is this game is not worth it and just a disgrace to the amazing superhero games out there. I'm gonna be honest if this game didn't have Marvel superhero's then everyone would agree it was trash and not worth a $60 purchase. When I played the beta I got sick looking at all that lagI had played the beta of this game and two of my friends had actually purchased the base game. All I can say is this game is not worth it and just a disgrace to the amazing superhero games out there. I'm gonna be honest if this game didn't have Marvel superhero's then everyone would agree it was trash and not worth a $60 purchase. When I played the beta I got sick looking at all that lag with the frames constantly cutting out every 2 seconds,. It was just explosions everywhere and you didn't even know what you were punching. Another concern I had for this game was all I had to do was push square hundred times for the enemies to get destroyed. It's so repetitive and boring. The gameplay is an overall mess. I watched the story on youtube and honestly it's a low-tier MCU movie that makes no sense. The music is fine and I guess some of the actors did fine. This game is a flop and deserves to fail in every way. We the gamers don't want live service games because there so garbage when they release. Ghost of Tsushima does it better than so many games and that game focuses on a single player. People save your money and buy another game please.… Expand

    Button mashing boredom. Very very repetitive. Gear got in game doesn’t change appearance. This is to encourage Micro transactions! Cash grab! Avoid! To round it all off it has loads of bugs! Avoid!

The only strength of this game is having popular characters, which will not exist thanks to you, Spider-Man, who is a popular character for Xbox. Of course, gamers The Xbox did not lose much because the game is not worth that much.

The graphics aren’t **** but nothing impressive for end of console generation game, and whilst graphics is a pretty weak scrutiny to make you would expect a Triple AAA developer with a PlayStation exclusive backing and the Avenger reputation to make something that could at least compare to Uncharted 3. Overall a ****e experience, the adrenaline induced hype I had when going into this game quickly died down when I realised this game could be finished in less than 10 hours flat, realistically this is just a **** quick grab cash scheme that has went poorly for PlayStation (who have dominated this generation and delivered some of the best exclusives that have ever been released). I do feel sympathy for PlayStation, but I think it just highlights the initiative to digress from multiplayer experiences, which are low in quality calibre and oversaturated, and instead focus on single player experiences only. The moment you bring multiplayer into the mix it begs the question of how good the overall game quality is going to be as it only causes studio resources to be diverted towards lucrative monetary aesthetic items whilst they could otherwise be supplemented to making the game a better more jubilant experience.… Expand

    This is Anthem all over again but with the Marvel IP. The screen-shake is unbearable, the camera at times is awful and the combat is akin to a mobile phone button masher. GaaS will be the death of this game because content will be dry within a month with the endgame challenge being "add more enemy health" which is an artificial difficulty

    This is an awful cash grab. Full price base game with $10 battle passes for each character , exclusive outfits to random brands and Spider-Man being cut off from 2/3 of players. This wouldn’t be so bad if the game was good unfortunately it’s a bland games as a service game. Don’t buy this game it’s just a cash grab save your money and just rewatch the MCU films you will have a better time.

    So look... I played Spiderman 2 on the GameCube AND THIS WAS A REAL SUPER HERO GAME! Ludovicha my Buddy told me that he was going to go dive into the Bargain Bin in the next couple of months to grab this game at super cheap price!

    What a let down. The story mode is WAY to short for this kind of feature game. Executives need to STOP forcing the hand of game developers to try to make an additional penny and let game devs build what they know the way the know how to do it.

    Why the hell make armor that is customized but it makes 0 change on the character?
    Why the hell make 95% of alt cosmetic costumes a color variant? Who wants to spend real money on 4 different colored suits on hulk. the SAME suit, different color.
    I wanted to spend more time as each character, learning what theyve been doing in isolation, caring for them and them getting together. but no, you made a button smash game with useless gear loadouts, useless cosmetic appearance changes, useless "faction" missions, no real need to ever change your loadout other than to kill faster.

We get a game focusing on a thing that really really needed to be aborted before she ever graced the pages of Marvel. Hell if danvers, and the poop thing were even members of the gang it wasn't until like earth 616 or whatever. I mean if the smooth brains at marvel had really focused on lore and past issues instead of characters like super towel headed girl, carol tranvers, rodent humper girl, and that dora the buffet explorer that was announced once(the brown thing with the backpack who will now need safe space to protect her) they would have known the real leader of the avengers wasn't played by whatever the cheese with the bad boob job is but the amazingly emotionally and physically strong Janet Dyne. but doesn't fit narrative so they squash the wasp being the real leader. Don't waste your money despite the positive reviews. Wait for Mario 3d all stars or go grab Tony Hawk.… Expand

    That pretty sums up the experience with this game.

    The story is definitely a highlight of the game. Although extremely predictable at times, the story would have carried this game further had it did not felt as if the post-game story content was lacking. It features a whole new set of missions but still leaves you wanting for something more. As well, co-op is unavailable for the campaign which is a main selling point for this game.

    The combat is originally repetitive until you put a lot of time into getting any single character up to a noteworthy level which is frustrating. The issue lies with if you like to progress a specific character then the rest of your party will be lacking. Companions can become virtually useless and causes you to have to play at least four characters consistently to have them come to their full potential.

    Overall not worth a $60 prices tag but definitely worth a play with friends if you happen to come across it.    … Expand

But the main reason I’m giving it one star is because it is littered with bugs and has become unplayable for me. Even with their patches, things have only gotten worse. After the most recent patch, I can’t even load the game. I wouldn’t even care that much, because it isn’t that fun, but after paying $60 for a game (I almost never buy games at release because I’m cheap) I feel entitled to a refund (which of course I can’t get). They released this game prematurely, and they don’t seem to be doing a good job of cleaning up the issues they shouldn’t have had at release to begin with.… Expand

    As a marvel fan, there is a LOT here to like. The character design and core gameplay loop are both excellent. It feels like you are playing each of the distinct characters. Unfortunately, the game is also extremely buggy, the environments and enemies are repetitive and the loot system needs to be tweaked. Still, I am having a BLAST playing this game with my friends and am lookingAs a marvel fan, there is a LOT here to like. The character design and core gameplay loop are both excellent.     I'm really disappointed with this game. There are so many bugs and glitches. I can't even get past one of the missions called Agony and the Ant Hill because every time I complete the mission the game freezes and doesn't save my progress. I was really looking forward to this game but its terrible.

    I pre-ordered this game and have been playing it since launch, and it is by far one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had with a AAA title such as this. The game launched with over 1000+ bugs and glitches, which they later released a patch to fix, only to install the patch and find many of the bugs are still there. Your power level and attributes will change mid mission,I pre-ordered this game and have been playing it since launch, and it is by far one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had with a AAA title such as this. The game launched with over 1000+ bugs and glitches, which they later released a patch to fix, only to install the patch and find many of the bugs are still there. Your power level and attributes will change mid mission, having an enemy do little damage to you one minute, but his next attack, same as the last, obliterates you. The frame rate drops are atrocious, the AI's are useless, the enemies make no sense, and the missions/objectives are lackluster and extremely repetitive. The developers of this game made it seem like there was much to do in this game, but there isn't. You're literally playing the same missions and levels over and over again and all they do is swap out which boss you fight at the end, stamping a different mission title on the missions themselves in trying to make them come off as if you're doing a whole new mission. The enemies are ridiculously overpowered and you can barely stagger them at times, but one hit from an enemy, sometimes from hits that are unavoidable due to indicators not letting you know an attack is coming, will literally have you tumbling around and getting up ultra slow, giving you little time to avoid following attacks, especially when all the enemies focus on ONLY YOU most of the time, which leads me to another point. This game is pushed off and made to seem like a multiplayer game, yet they force you into doing things by yourself. You'll have missions that don't allow you to play with others, and that's the end-game, alongside matchmaking issues, and mostly being paired up with others lower or higher than your power level, which can automatically revert the challenge level you placed at 4, to go back to 2, then you have to leave fireteam and change things back all over again and try to matchmaking until the right power level players join up. You'll have missions that require a team, like having to stand on 4 different plates around a big room to hack a terminal, but your AI companions won't help you do that, causing you to have to deal with all that's coming your way since enemies seem to always ignore your team and target you first, all while having to reach each terminal on your own to hack them. You'll have vault missions that requires you to stand in the middle but, if any of your AI companions stand on the plate, it won't count, you're forced to stand there and take on many enemies while your AI companions don't fight efficiently enough, or hit hard enough to really give you the necessary support to make things feel like they're there. I've had issues where my entire AI team just stopped fighting and I was left alone, sometimes it's one, sometimes 3, and this all happened this week! There's so many issues, the UI is horrible. They have so many games they could look to in order to figure out the right way to do things, but no, this game just feels so prehistoric in it's making. The loot is horrible, the frame rates, the AI companions and enemies, everything in every place, you will find something wrong. This game deserves a low score. Many issues in this game can't be ignored, and some fan boys will try and say that it isn't all bad etc, but the facts are there and any realistic unbias individual can see all that's wrong with this game. This game locks you out of daily stuff sometimes, despite them saying they fixed those issues, and so much more. Then the cost of the cosmetics are absurd. It would cost $10 of real money to buy one new outfit, and the outfit is just a new color variation, why should I pay $10 to get the same outfit, but in another color? This game clearly shouldn't have been released in the condition it's in, and if it wasn't for the Marvel name, it would've been dragged out just like Anthem was. This game may get better in a year or two, but it's not something one should buy right now.… Expand

    It could’ve been a great single player title. The publisher chose to go down the game as a service path though, and those who prefer to play solo need to tackle run-of-the-mill co-op missions. The multiplayer on the other hand is messy, chaotic and in the long run boring. When the developers manage to fix the most pressing bugs and find a way to bring more variety to co-op, this might become a solid game. Right now, I can only recommend it to the biggest fans of the Avengers. [11/2020, p.26]

    This is the perfect example of "Games as a Service" done right. Marvel's Avengers offers up a superb campaign story to play through that is promised to be expanded on in the future. The gameplay may be repetitive, but it includes just enough to keep players interested and invested in the endgame content that is available now to keep this game going until the next step in its roadmap. The possibilities and potential in the future here are hugely exciting.

    There have been plenty of moments during my time with Marvel's Avengers where I’ve genuinely had a great time. But this game keeps finding ways to drag itself down- at times it almost feels like it goes out of its way to do so. There’s just so much here that I can’t overlook, no matter how hard I may try. An unnecessary and broken loot system, a litany of horrible technical issues, uninspired and one-note mission design, and a story that fails just as much as it succeeds- it doesn’t matter how mindlessly fun the combat is, it isn't enough to overcome such a heavy list of problems.
