To be honest, this game isn't that bad. The worst in the series for sure, but it isn't terrible. Its graphics aren't even that bad and the game is fun. The roster brings it down though. It is so bad. NO XMEN?! WHY NO FRICKIN XMEN?! I WANT TO PLAY AS DEADPOOL AGAIN!

I do agree with a lot of complaints about the roster (especially the Marvel side), the graphics looking like a mobile game and the auto combo system, but over all, I still find it to be enjoyable and worth more than what people have given it credit for. As cheap as it is these days, I'd say it's def worth the purchase.

I’am always open for a new fighting game, so this game too. Marvel vs. Capcom is returning with 4th entries in the franchise. It’s a very good thing for those particularly Marvel vs. series fans but in overall, game has lack of some serious feature.

Well, since i’am not “huge” fan of this franchise, i won’t be too harsh against the game itself but it’s clear this game was one of the most anticipated IPs of Capcom and in the end, it’s failed for the launch by cannot matching with the fan expectations.

Our game has 7 game modes. They are: Story mode, Arcade, VS. mode, Training, Mission, Collection and Online.

One of the new things of the game, no doubt, “Story Mode”, where you track the main scenario along with playable characters and NPCs. Some obscure characters are also made their cameo in some cut-scenes. This is the first time a Marvel vs Capcom game that featuring a story mode separately. Another new thing is main “tag” system. The game using no longer 3 vs 3 formula yet they bring 2 vs 2 like old ones.

Gameplay is highly re-designed via “stones” which bring new assets to the gameplay such as: Power, Time, Space, Reality, Mind and Soul. Each stone is giving your team a special ability for certain period. The gameplay also introducing “Active Switch” and “Counter Switch” which gives you the opportunity to control your tag-partners in right time. There is also “Infinity Surge” which allow you to use Level 3 Super Combos by pressing two buttons.

And the roster...this is the major failure point of the game. MvC:I has 15 characters per side which make 30 in total included: Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk (yes, no X-men this time..), Ryu, Chun Li, Mayor Haggar, Mega-man.. all signature characters have been added to roster BUT, whole roster is not so new comparing to UMvC3. Newcomers “ that should be already in the cast” are already confirmed as “upcoming DLC”. Marvel side is completely copy-paste of previous game. 30 characters might be enough for a 2 vs 2 game but the roster is not satisfying at all..they could add more new faces.

Graphics are great, not the best but great. At least better than previous installment. Characters are fully 3D now. Whole screen is crisp, colorful and delivering well the signature atmosphere of Capcom’s fighting game genre. But the game menus, art direction, roster screen, extras are quite insufficient and pretty bad. Cut-scenes are another big thing of the game, story related stuff and animations are brilliant. As for stages, i can clearly say they are awesome and one of the best points of the game. Better then many fighting games that currently out.

Can’t say anything good about in-game tunes which i found non-catchy yet dialogues and voice acting are ok. Very well done.

This game is developed in order to please both fractions as usual: competitive (pro) and standard (casual) fanbase. It’s too early to saying anything about competitive part albeit the game has some “easy mode” downgrades yet still has some deep mechanics to be mined by players. But it’s clear the other part not pleased everyone, especially those who playing the game for the cast and old-fashion combo show. The game is pretty in-completed right now and it doesn’t offer something so special for both online and offline modes.

But then again, this is a fighting game on it’s own basis and if you’re fan of the genre and characters, you can buy and try it alone, or with friends.

    Play on!..

I'm a huge fan of the Marvel vs Capcom series. I really wanted to like this game. The small roster was disappointing, but I was willing to wait to play it to judge it at all. The graphics look worse than any of the previous iterations including the sprites of the first and second game, but again I was willing to play the final product and judge it then. After playing it, I was incredibly let down. Each character looks dreadful and the voice acting is unprofessional. Instead of being able to lean on the strength of the now robust MCU, each character seems like an insult to their movie AND comic book equivalent. The story mode is an embarrassment. As an out of box experience, it did not feel like i was playing a real Capcom release. It looks like a mobile game, even in the horrid User Interfaces and health bars and the look of a lot of the moves.

That being said, there is a game here. Underneath the wreckage of this dumpster fire there is actually a really fun game. The training mode is fun and I like a lot of the new characters and new mechanics of the game which seem like they're going to be fairly deep and exciting.

So, maybe my score should be lower but I'm holding out hope that maybe I will like the wreckage underneath as I start to play it a bit more and see it played competitively. Still, with Street Fighter V suffering from a lot of the same problems, i can't help but worry for the future of Fighting Games for Capcom. Lots of the hardcore fans seem to actually like this title too, so maybe there's a bright future for this ugly game.

It's a good game, mainly because of its zany, complex and freestyle gameplay. Getting that out of the way, it's a mediocre product at least on day 1: the roster is mostly uninteresting/recycled, with tons of missing opportunities considering how many great characters they could have gone with from both sides. To make matters worse, interesting characters are indeed coming (with one of them being already done but left out for extra cash)...but for an additional fee. The graphics are disappointing not only because the art style is not flattering to half of the cast but it can also get quite straining for the eyes when any player activates an infinity stone and everything becomes tinted with a fluorescent color. Finally, single player content is severely lacking with a weak story and no arcade endings or any extra unlockable content to stimulate new playthroughs. Voice acting is WILDLY amateurish for most of the cast (with a few notable exceptions such as Chun Li or Dr Strange) and the absence of a japanese track really hurts the experience (just try listening to Morrigan or Spencer's accidentally hilarious "let's get this party started!").

HOWEVER, the gameplay IS completely revamped for the better and as long as you're willing to put the time and effort in learning the characters, you'll probably get a kick out of MvCI. I personally recommend waiting for a price drop; getting this game + the first 6 DLC characters for 60 bucks sounds more reasonable than what Capcom wants you to pay right now.

Mediocrity at best. Before starting this i'm not a casual fighting game fan though I have strayed far away from Capcom since the arcades. I remember the quarters I'd sink in to play the OG one and Street fighter 2. I also for 2 months straight was in the top 1000 players in Injustice 1 & 2... I like to play these games for a bit because then I can have an appreciation for what the professionals can do. I will never be able to do what they do and I’m okay with that. All I want is to watch the pro’s play this game.

It's an okay fighting game. The old Marvel vs Capcom 3 is so much better. This game doesn't feel complete and I feel a bit ripped off especially with the lack of characters to choose from. I say stay clear of this game and invest in the old game which is a lot more fun and addictive.

The combat is good. The story is excellent the rest not so much. After you beat the story and done a couple of single matches it gets boring very quickly. The arcade is a dumbed down story mode and the infinite stones except one are bad. Get it if you want just don't expect anything amazing.

A lot of what the quality of this game is comes down less to what it has and more about what it doesn't have. While it's very pretty graphically has decent enough gameplay, it all falls apart when you look at everything around that and for me personally, I couldn't even get the dlc to work on ps5.

A lot of what the quality of this game is comes down less to what it has and more about what it doesn't have. While it's very pretty graphically has decent enough gameplay, it all falls apart when you look at everything around that and for me personally, I couldn't even get the dlc to work on ps5.

To start, the voice acting, needs work. They got some of the best voice acting talents in the industry, so I know they are all capable of doing better than this. I can't help but think that whoever was directing the voice acting here was the real problem and/or perhaps the voice actors weren't able to watch the scenes as they did the voice acting? I'm not sure what it was, but something clearly went wrong in this department.

The graphics are great though. You can see the individual hairs on each fighter's head and everyone looks exactly as I'd expect them to. Performance also seems to be pretty good without any major technical issues within the game itself. My biggest complaint about technical issues was actually the dlc. Full disclosure, I'm playing this game on PS5 and can not get the dlc to work at all on ps5. I paid money for the dlc and am unable to download it or use it. While this game was not made for ps5 so I really shouldn't hold this against the game too much, the ps5 is supposed to be fully backwards compatible. There really is no excuse why the dlc shouldn't work when the game itself does.

The story mode is kinda weird. I like how it does let you use every character a good deal through out, but the story itself needs more backstory in the game. You can tell that in the eighty or ninety days leading up to the events of the game, a lot did happen but none of it is actually explained. Instead of starting the game several months after the convergence, the game perhaps should have started during, or even slightly before, so that the player can experience the entire story instead of just part of it.

Another big weak point for the game is the roster. This is the fourth game in the series and yet it's missing many, many characters who have appeared in previous games. The roster is relatively small for a game that could make use of any Marvel or Capcom character. The Marvel side in particular feels weird as it's missing the XMen entirely. The Marvel side of this roster feels like an advertisement for the upcoming movies of the time and the Capcom side feels like an advertisement of the upcoming games. It does not feel like a love letter to the two companies or a passion project of someone who enjoyed their content.

The most disappointing part though is that even with all the flaws, the gameplay itself feels good. This does feel like a solid fighting game when you are playing the fights and combos mostly come natural with room for improvement if you keep practicing and learn the combos. It feels like how most fighting games should feel.

Ultimately, Marvel VS Capcom Infinite is the fourth game in the Marvel Vs Capcom series, but at times feels like the first, with a much weaker roster than the third or second games and doesn't hold up to those games in the value presented and even the story is not worth getting this game for. My own personal biggest disappointment is simply not being able to get the dlc to work at all, even though I paid for it although I tried to not let that affect the score itself.

Infinite is a case study on how not to make crossovers. The story mode is really poorly written and if you don’t already know and like the characters, you’ll just waste your time. What’s worse, almost every element of the game is similarly weak. The result is a mediocre game that wastes the potential of its solid combat system. [12/2017, p.54]
