    I actually feel ashamed and embarrassed for owning this game. Yes, that's how bad it is. You really gotta wonder what the hell happened when they were developing Mafia 3.

    To begin with: wait with the buy. I finished the game in a 3 day marathon, so it isnt the worst, but: there where SO MANY Bugs and chrashes. The graphics, the sound, the movement, the animation, nothing is finished. There are so many things that destroy the gameplay. Police is joke, AI almost non existent, the city feels dead, the car flips over nothing because the streets arent connectedTo begin with: wait with the buy.     The worst: You do the same thing 9 times in a row till the game ends. Talk to a contact, do 4-6 missions for him, kill the boss, kill his boss, next.

    The whole gameplay works way too slow, if an enemy appears behind you, it takes you 3 seconds to turn around (at least) and shoot him, which means you're dead when you play on hard, which you should because 'hard' equals 'medium' in comparable games.

    This beeing said, it still is fun. It has times, especially in the beginning, when the presentation is just really amazing. It feels right. If you get used to Lincoln hes an amazing character. But after the first 2 hours this drops too and you hate the game for having unskippable cut scenes. The Driving is good, the sneaking is fun, the shooting works great (long distance headshots with a silenced pistol are satisfying) and the urge to shoot Marcano in the face keep you going.

    Sadly, if you compare this game to GTA 5, which you should, because they have A LOT of similarities, it loses in almost every aspect. This doenst mean its a bad game, but if you played GTA 5 you get annoyed by a lot of things that where just a lot better.

    Overall I would give it a 3, but the fact i kept going till the end makes me think im too hard on this game so i end up with a 5.    … Expand

    It is so boring. Sorry 2k but it has bug.need an update.its not a cmpelete game . Need more try to make a good game like mafia 1 and 2. I hope mafia 4 will beter. Naviddelfan :)

    I'm not hating this game - I like it, but I like it because it's entertaining just to run around the map, drive and shoot.
    The visual are great, the characters are pretty - but the magic is gone. Everything from it's predecessors that made the franchise magical is gone.
    I don't ask for innovation with every release, but this is a huge step down from the previous. The AI is bad, the    I'm not hating this game - I like it, but I like it because it's entertaining just to run around the map, drive and shoot.

    I don't ask for innovation with every release, but this is a huge step down from the previous.
    The AI is bad, the stories are all the same, the buildup of any mission is the same, hundreds of graphical bugs and numerous bugs in the very bad UI and HUD.
    Though the story is decent, then this game would have been much better off without it and not calling itself MAFIA - it would have suited the game better to just be an open world map that you could just run around in and shoot, drive and kill or whatever in for no particular reason.

    I'm giving this game a 5, simply because it's pretty. It has a great soundtrack and the whole feeling of the scenario and the city is fine, apart from that everybody in the city, pedestrians, other people in traffic, shop owners and any NPC you may encounter seem to have lost their brain in a lobotomy operation that was publicly done on everybody from New Orleans back in the 60's apparently. If you were to trust what is going on this game.

    It's a real shame, because I can feel where the story is going, the only problem is that every mission has the same build up and it really feels like you are on a giant grinding spree from the very beginning, instead of being an actual story that you playing.

    This game's features/gameplay is at any given time either great or terrible. The gameplay is very repetitive and the combat is unrewarding. The story is pretty good but just isn't worth the boring gameplay to get to. The graphics are either good or just awful. At the end of the day what is the point of playing a video game? To have fun and enjoy your time spent in the game. Does Mafia 3This game's features/gameplay is at any given time either great or terrible.     The game started off pretty good with the storyline and characters then falls flat with the repetitive missions and not much to do in the open world. And the AI isn't up to scratch.

    The driving experience is horrendous. I don’t know what they had in mind but it seems extremely arcadie and targeted for amateur gamers or children, (however anyone can argue that cannot be a child’s game as It is gory and racist). Thus, why there is such bad driving style even on the so called simulation experience?
    My second statement is that the graphics on PS4 can be on times either splendid or dreadful. This can’t be happening on AAA titles I believe.

    Either way I was waiting like crazy this game after I saw the demo in E3, and I state that 2k did a terrible work, keeping in mind that budget given seems to be huge. This can be perceived by looking at copyrighted songs and advertising it got, making it an extremely hyped game.
    I am starting to believe that any publisher passing delayed AAA copies to the critics, it tends to have either technical issues or severe bugs.    … Expand

The story looks like it's going to be fantastic but the first main combat encounter was tedious and boring. The driving is fine and the city again looks great but that's just not enough for me. On ebay already before the average ratings kick in. I'm guessing around 73 metacriticIt's not terrible but after playing loads of Uncharted 4 over the past few months the combat seems so outdated. Just look at some of the creators tweets from Hanger 13 and you can see how their ideas were molded into this game. They even had to nerve to create an antagonist that looks very much like Donald Trump.     Disappointement of the year 2016. A game which is so good in the first 5 hours turns into the with same repetitive trash all the time. And let's don't even talk about the technichal difficulties this piece of garbage has.

    Fantastic game. Great story and characters, beautiful and vast open world, awesome 60s music. This and uncharted 4 are my favorite games of this year. I really enjoyed Mafia 2 and just love Mafia 3. I actually prefer it to GTA. Why are some people giving the game negative reviews???? Don't listen to them.     Mafia 3 reminds me of what the mafia films has best: Scorsese, striking characters, good story, etc.

    It also has an incredible gameplay with great controles.Mafia 3 rocks!

    This is my initial impression on Mafia 3 and so far so good. I wasn't going to post this until I finished my review but I saw all the GTA fan-boy hate on this site and decided I better come and provide an honest initial impression. I have been blown away by the setting of this game, everything from the time-frame and music are absolutely killer.

    I'm only 6 hours in but can easily say    This is my initial impression on Mafia 3 and so far so good. I wasn't going to post this until I finished my review but I saw all the GTA fan-boy hate on this site and decided I better come and provide an honest initial impression. I have been blown away by the setting of this game, everything from the time-frame and music are absolutely killer.

    I'm only 6 hours in but can easily say this is the best Mafia game in the series yet. Anyone that claims otherwise I dare say may not like that they went away from an American-Italian as the main protagonist; honestly though that was the best decision that could have been made for the franchise as the Italian mob thing has been done over and over again. They have provided us with a fresh take and it looks to have really paid off. So far the mechanics with the game are very smooth, I personally adjusted the auto aim to a lower level to increase difficulty. Which feels about right and has made things more challenging.

    The stealth in the game isn't ground breaking but is done well, I do worry though that the takedowns will become repetitive and stale after time. The driving in the game is smooth and easy as it should be in a shooter. My biggest gripe with the previous installment (Mafia 2) was that the world was very empty and practically dead. That has been remedied here as the world is quite more alive and things are going on all around you. This was an area that I always felt they needed to look at GTA and come up with something comparable, and they have achieved just that.

    The thing that sets Mafia 3 apart from GTA though is the story and setting here. I feel like the racially charged climate has really set the tone here for some amazing historical like gameplay that we haven't seen before.     It seems like everyone and their cousins were just chomping at the bit to tear this game apart simply because it's either too much like GTA, or not enough like GTA. I swear, can we just judge a game on it's own merits instead of constantly comparing it to what's come before it? Anyway, I've enjoyed my time with this game so far and I haven't come across any issues so far either. TheIt seems like everyone and their cousins were just chomping at the bit to tear this game apart simply because it's either too much like GTA, or not enough like GTA.     just an ok game.nothing special.the missions are usually boring and there isn't something interesting.but driving is so good.the shooting has some problems but they aren't that bad.i hope the next update fix issues like bugs and frame rate.

    A masterpiece. Mafia III is fierce, violent, fleeting. Everything in this game is gorgeous, from its beautiful graphics, to the absurdly realistic physics. The plot is dense and full of strong characters. Applause also for the courage of Hangar 13 to address one of the most violent periods of the 60s, people who suffered from racism and discrimination.

    Two hours in and so far the story, acting and graphics are all very engaging. This is no doubt a high-quality open world gaming experience. So far the game is very good and I haven't even gotten to the full open map yet. It did crash once on me but probably just 1st day jitters so I give it a 9.

    this game has great graphic, very good gameplay.. ai enemies are pretty medicore. driving is pretty fun. facial animation are very impressed to me. Whoever are fan of Mafia series then this game must be for them to play

    When this came to ps plus it sat there in my collection, started playing recently and couldn't put it down. This is a great quality title but be warned there are still some game breaking glitches - I experienced 'freezing' on a cutscenes video multiple times, towards the end of the game the day night cycle glitched and was perpetual night only not to mention numerous times the ai got stuck somewhere prevention progression in a mission.

    Despite this it is full of charm and has some of the best visuals I've seen in a game of this type. Definitely worth your time if you're a fan of the gangster genre and open world gaming. I will advise though -just b line the story mode only the side quests are repeptitous and dialogue only no high quality cut scebes. To be found there.    … Expand

Now that I have played it for 20 hours or so, I'm fine with the protagonist change. I think this games story touches on some very controversial topics, but I admire it for that. Mafia 2 is still my favorite game in the series, and I often go backAs a long time fan of the Mafia series, I will admit I was disappointed when I first heard that Mafia 3 was steering away from the Italian mob. Now that I have played it for 20 hours or so, I'm fine with the protagonist change. I think this games story touches on some very controversial topics, but I admire it for that. Mafia 2 is still my favorite game in the series, and I often go back to play it just because I am so in love with the "NYC" during Christmastime setting in the first half of the game. Back to Mafia 3, I believe that the game is a lot less narratively focused than it's predecessors, and because of that it can start to feel repetitive after a while. I find myself playing the game in 2 hours bursts, after which I switch to a different game for variety. I much preferred the story driven missions in Mafia 1 and especially 2. With all this being said, Mafia 3 is still a good game, and I don't regret my time spent playing it. Just be aware that it is basically a sandbox game, punctuated by excellent cutscenes. You gather info on a bad guy, disrupt the bad guys business, take down said bad guy, then move on to the next bad guy and repeat the process. If you are a fan of open world sandbox games, you will most likely enjoy this game. I must also mention that the soundtrack is excellent if you like music from the 60's. There are only 3 radio stations, and there is less commercials and spoken word tracks than I would like, but the music is a good background to the action on screen. All in all, a good, but far from perfect game.… Expand

    Very great story, characters, etc. When I heard Hendrix's all aliong watchtower in main menu, I understand in that moment, this game can`t be bad. Indeed, it's have another dimenstion, very deep open world. Graphics is bad, just bad resolution and details. But I play games, not graphics, so it's really not the show stopper for me.

    But after sinking around 40 hours so far into this game, I don't know what is all that repetitive, this game isn't for everyone, albeit, it's mission variety to me, is excellent.
    The atmosphere, soundtrack, even the gunshot's and voice acting are all done amazing. Very story driven, as    I was hesitant on picking this game up, for well over a year now, just based on the reviews alone.

    I've yet to really find any issues with this game, Issues that are only specific to this game, none.

    Most all games have bugs, but this game, I've come across maybe 2 or 3.

    Speaking on the "repetitive" missions, if this game is considered repetitive, so is nearly every other game in existence, as all games are basically, go to X location, clear enemies at X location, retrieve package at X location, meet at X location.

    I am just happy to see the involvement of the Black Panthers in here, as well as the rare opportunity to play as a Black man, which is as rare as a blue moon these days.

    Which is why I understand all of the negative reviews are just from racist people.

    I recommend this game to anyone who wants a strong story, with very great physics and game play.    … Expand

    This is arguably the most disappointed I have ever been with a game purchase. The missions are extremely repetitive, and the amount of glitches in this game makes it unplayable. It was so heartbreaking, because the story was actually quite good. A note for developers: do not rush production, and take your time polishing your game.

    Я не являюсь фанатом серии игр Mafia, но все же за прохождение игры довелось многое увидеть, игра нормальная
    все ее -
    Задания которые повторяются Слишком нудно проходить, и доходить до боссов в игре Малый запас патронов и хватает на нескольких противников + игры Графика Интересный город для изучения сойдет Размеры самого мира Финальные сражения с боссами, это довольно таки    Я не являюсь фанатом серии игр Mafia, но все же за прохождение игры довелось многое увидеть, игра нормальная

    Such a letdown. Full of bugs and repetition. Hanger 13 doesn't deserve this license. Also the soundtrack everyone praises doesn't have enough songs so you'll be tired of it by the second hour of play just like everything else in this game

    Great story!!! Although I understand some people's issues with the repetitive game play, Mafia 3 manages to overcome this negative. Amazing story!!! Sorry, just had to say it again. This game left me thinking about the story long after I played it. And the music is fantastic! I loved driving around listening to the music, just as I did in GTA 5 and 4.     Its stealth is too repetitive, its gunfights too familiar, and its driving too boring to support anything else that’s going on. Despite how clever it manages to be in portraying the conquest and control of a criminal enterprise, the nuts-and-bolts missions feel like busywork, and it never fully explores the most interesting aspects of its setting. It’s better than Mafia II, but that’s damning it with faint praise.

    It could have been a really great sandbox for one evening. It’s a shame the developers decided to extend it by over a dozen completely redundant hours, because they had fresh ideas for around one fifth of the campaign and made the rest of the game repetitive as hell. [12/2016, p.48]
