    Fantastic game. Great story and characters, beautiful and vast open world, awesome 60s music. This and uncharted 4 are my favorite games of this year. I really enjoyed Mafia 2 and just love Mafia 3. I actually prefer it to GTA. Why are some people giving the game negative reviews???? Don't listen to them. There has been hate surrounding his games since game-play was first released. TheFantastic game. Great story and characters, beautiful and vast open world, awesome 60s music.     This is my initial impression on Mafia 3 and so far so good. I wasn't going to post this until I finished my review but I saw all the GTA fan-boy hate on this site and decided I better come and provide an honest initial impression. I have been blown away by the setting of this game, everything from the time-frame and music are absolutely killer.

    I'm only 6 hours in but can easily say    This is my initial impression on Mafia 3 and so far so good. I wasn't going to post this until I finished my review but I saw all the GTA fan-boy hate on this site and decided I better come and provide an honest initial impression. I have been blown away by the setting of this game, everything from the time-frame and music are absolutely killer.

    I'm only 6 hours in but can easily say this is the best Mafia game in the series yet. Anyone that claims otherwise I dare say may not like that they went away from an American-Italian as the main protagonist; honestly though that was the best decision that could have been made for the franchise as the Italian mob thing has been done over and over again. They have provided us with a fresh take and it looks to have really paid off. So far the mechanics with the game are very smooth, I personally adjusted the auto aim to a lower level to increase difficulty. Which feels about right and has made things more challenging.

    The stealth in the game isn't ground breaking but is done well, I do worry though that the takedowns will become repetitive and stale after time. The driving in the game is smooth and easy as it should be in a shooter. My biggest gripe with the previous installment (Mafia 2) was that the world was very empty and practically dead. That has been remedied here as the world is quite more alive and things are going on all around you. This was an area that I always felt they needed to look at GTA and come up with something comparable, and they have achieved just that.

    The thing that sets Mafia 3 apart from GTA though is the story and setting here. I feel like the racially charged climate has really set the tone here for some amazing historical like gameplay that we haven't seen before. It just really sets it self apart from anything we have seen before.    … Expand

    It seems like everyone and their cousins were just chomping at the bit to tear this game apart simply because it's either too much like GTA, or not enough like GTA. I swear, can we just judge a game on it's own merits instead of constantly comparing it to what's come before it? Anyway, I've enjoyed my time with this game so far and I haven't come across any issues so far either. The framerate runs fine (don't know why people are so hung up on that) and the story is very powerful stuff.     A masterpiece. Mafia III is fierce, violent, fleeting. Everything in this game is gorgeous, from its beautiful graphics, to the absurdly realistic physics. The plot is dense and full of strong characters. Applause also for the courage of Hangar 13 to address one of the most violent periods of the 60s, people who suffered from racism and discrimination.

    Okay, rarely I make reviews on this site, but Mafia 3 don't deserve all the hate from GTA5 players, so far the cinematics and action is solid and on the spot, I find myself lost in the world, because it is so detailed that I feels like you have taken a time machine back in time. Waiting for 60 fps patch to check optimisation but is running at 30 fps max settings with my GTX 960 and FX-6350 O/C.     Two hours in and so far the story, acting and graphics are all very engaging. This is no doubt a high-quality open world gaming experience. So far the game is very good and I haven't even gotten to the full open map yet. It did crash once on me but probably just 1st day jitters so I give it a 9.

    this game has great graphic, very good gameplay.. ai enemies are pretty medicore. driving is pretty fun. facial animation are very impressed to me. Whoever are fan of Mafia series then this game must be for them to play

    As a long time fan of the Mafia series, I will admit I was disappointed when I first heard that Mafia 3 was steering away from the Italian mob. Now that I have played it for 20 hours or so, I'm fine with the protagonist change. I think this games story touches on some very controversial topics, but I admire it for that. Mafia 2 is still my favorite game in the series, and I often go backAs a long time fan of the Mafia series, I will admit I was disappointed when I first heard that Mafia 3 was steering away from the Italian mob. Now that I have played it for 20 hours or so, I'm fine with the protagonist change. I think this games story touches on some very controversial topics, but I admire it for that. Mafia 2 is still my favorite game in the series, and I often go back to play it just because I am so in love with the "NYC" during Christmastime setting in the first half of the game. Back to Mafia 3, I believe that the game is a lot less narratively focused than it's predecessors, and because of that it can start to feel repetitive after a while. I find myself playing the game in 2 hours bursts, after which I switch to a different game for variety. I much preferred the story driven missions in Mafia 1 and especially 2. With all this being said, Mafia 3 is still a good game, and I don't regret my time spent playing it. Just be aware that it is basically a sandbox game, punctuated by excellent cutscenes. You gather info on a bad guy, disrupt the bad guys business, take down said bad guy, then move on to the next bad guy and repeat the process. If you are a fan of open world sandbox games, you will most likely enjoy this game. I must also mention that the soundtrack is excellent if you like music from the 60's. There are only 3 radio stations, and there is less commercials and spoken word tracks than I would like, but the music is a good background to the action on screen. All in all, a good, but far from perfect game.… Expand

    Very great story, characters, etc. When I heard Hendrix's all aliong watchtower in main menu, I understand in that moment, this game can`t be bad. Indeed, it's have another dimenstion, very deep open world. Graphics is bad, just bad resolution and details. But I play games, not graphics, so it's really not the show stopper for me.

    But after sinking around 40 hours so far into this game, I don't know what is all that repetitive, this game isn't for everyone, albeit, it's mission variety to me, is excellent.
    The atmosphere, soundtrack, even the gunshot's and voice acting are all done amazing. Very story driven, as    I was hesitant on picking this game up, for well over a year now, just based on the reviews alone.

    I've yet to really find any issues with this game, Issues that are only specific to this game, none.

    Most all games have bugs, but this game, I've come across maybe 2 or 3.

    Speaking on the "repetitive" missions, if this game is considered repetitive, so is nearly every other game in existence, as all games are basically, go to X location, clear enemies at X location, retrieve package at X location, meet at X location.

    I am just happy to see the involvement of the Black Panthers in here, as well as the rare opportunity to play as a Black man, which is as rare as a blue moon these days.

    Which is why I understand all of the negative reviews are just from racist people.

    I recommend this game to anyone who wants a strong story, with very great physics and game play.    … Expand

    Great story!!! Although I understand some people's issues with the repetitive game play, Mafia 3 manages to overcome this negative. Amazing story!!! Sorry, just had to say it again. This game left me thinking about the story long after I played it. And the music is fantastic! I loved driving around listening to the music, just as I did in GTA 5 and 4.     I like the story graphics and gameplay great driven action storyline with friendly control settings not a complicated experience, has the adult mafia polished guns and crime great dialogue.

В этой игре хватает недостатков, таких как вышеупомянутая плохая графика, тупой ИИ полиции или порой странная регистрация попаданий, но при этом мы имеем потрясающую атмосферу 60-х, воссозданную с невероятной любовью (взять хотя бы какое-нибудь спортивное кафе в подворотне, в котором на стенах висят форма, трофеи и расписание ставок, а люди на крошечных телевизорах смотрят скачки), музыкальное сопровождение, состоящее из величайших хитов того времени, отличнейший сюжет с яркими персонажами, три полных контента DLC, которые предлагают нам небольшие, но крайне увлекательные истории, великолепную стрельбу и целую кучу мелких деталей (умирающий прохожий может показать нам средний палец, Линкольн стучит по рулю машины в такт играющей по радио песни, во время перехода на бег, после стрельбы, Линкольн делает крошечный шаг и прыжок, чтобы разогнаться и т.д.). Многие жалуются на однообразные миссии, но во-первых, эти миссии представляют из себя динамичные перестрелки, а во-вторых, все почему-то забывают о заданиях по устранению членов семьи Маркано, которые настолько разнообразны и хорошо срежиссированы, что ты навсегда запомнишь их после прохождения игры.
    Я не спорю, что у этой игры есть минусы, но лично я готов смотреть на них сквозь пальцы, потому что я раз за разом возвращался в эту игру и получал от неё неподдельное удовольствие. Я проходил дополнения, отстраивал бар Сэмми, занимался травничеством, проходил гонки, завершал побочные задания Вито и Берка (которые, кстати, открывают некоторые детали истории этих персонажей) и просто катался по миру и слушал музыку. Я влюбился в мир, персонажей и атмосферу этой игры, поэтому для меня это 10 из 10 и одна из моих любимых игр, и мне искренне жаль, что её так сильно невзлюбило коммьюнти.    … Expand

    But the shooting isn't as good even though some guns are fun.     Great game, firstly graphically it feels and looks like the Sixties time period, great music to accompany the the old time feel. The cars are great and handle well, you actually feel like you have control.
    I like the ease of the combat system no button mashing, good cover system nothing like piling up the bodies, weapons easy to use. Plenty of missions to keep the interest up. Yes while    Great game, firstly graphically it feels and looks like the Sixties time period, great music to accompany the the old time feel. The cars are great and handle well, you actually feel like you have control.

    One hell of a game! Storyline and setting is absolutely superb. Graphics are beautiful as is the music. Has it's annoying flaws but those are ignored and over time are forgotten. For those people who vomit out the repetitiveness dribe clearly don't understand gaming. Ever heard of mining? It's no more repetitive than other games!

    Just set Anti-aliasing to Low and activate "sharpening" from nvidia control panel for this game, and the blur goes away, looks good.
    Game has it flaws but it is very funny to play, i really enjoyed it, which i cannot say about GTA V who really let me down on all aspects. Some bugs, no "save"    Pretty much epic game, good story with good combat and driving, nice weapons n cars, etc.

    So all the negative reviews I'm really not understanding. When I first heard about this game I was not expecting a GTA v clone I was expecting mafia 3. For one I think a lot of the hate is coming from the fact that Lincoln is black. Secondly all the pc users coming on here trashing the game because it won't work on their **** PCs. People that are not true gamers and don't really appreciate the value of a good well out together game so they compare a Mafia game to the likes of destiny, call of duty, and grand theft auto. Hey if you don't like the game no one is stopping you from trading it in let us that actually enjoy the game enjoy. And the pansies that don't, well go back to your destiny and call of duty… Expand

    Since my last review, I've played the game for at least another 10 hours. I gave the game a 6/10 based on my early impressions. I hate to admit it, but I may have judge it too quickly and I do apologize for it.

    Even though most of my initial impressions of the game have not changed. The driving is still not the best and the sky box still looks terrible. However, I feel like the lasting impression is what really matters in a game. I find that the driving can be enjoyable if you drive fast cars and also by getting upgrades that improve the car's handling and speed. As I engage in more combat and purchase new weapons, I find that shooting with certain weapons to be quite satisfying compared to my earlier opinion. Taking over territories and killing bosses becomes much more enjoyable with better weapons. Other positive aspects or this game is the story telling cut scenes and the soundtrack, I dare to say that its as good or even better than GTA V's. Mafia 3 is not a perfect game, but scoring it a 0 is absurd and very unfair. My initial score was a 6/10, but after actually giving the game a long more than fair chance, I can easily say that it deserves at very least a 7.5 - 8.    … Expand

    I always play more with the heart, less with the ambition.     Great Game, Story, Characters, Controls, Sound Effects, Etc Etc. Not sure where the low ratings are coming from. This game is highly enjoyable. I play on XB1 and occur no issues at all.

    Anything below a 6 is very harsh on this game. This review is for the PS4 version and I'm playing on the launch PS4 and other than a few frame rate drops when travelling over 120 mph I've had no other issues or bugs.

    The music is fantastic, the shooting and the drivings so much better than Mafia 2 and I love all the little detail they put into the game. I'm laughing that people say the    Anything below a 6 is very harsh on this game. This review is for the PS4 version and I'm playing on the launch PS4 and other than a few frame rate drops when travelling over 120 mph I've had no other issues or bugs.

    The music is fantastic, the shooting and the drivings so much better than Mafia 2 and I love all the little detail they put into the game. I'm laughing that people say the open world is empty. If actually try walking around you might notice there is interaction and the correct one most time with the abuse Lincoln gets when in certain areas of the city.

    The lighting issues make me laugh. Th swap is very dark place at night... shocker every else is fine and you don't get cross map killed by AI like others try to make out. You can get pretty close without been spotted and I'm not trying say AI perfect because when been stealthy it's too easy go in guns blazing on a crowd and you will go down.    … Expand

    I will be quick. This is a great game with some flaws. The story, acting, design, visuals (graphics are at times mind boggling) is all top notch.

    What is missing, is some mission diversity, more difference amongst feeling or damage from weapons, and more overall customizations.

    This is a solid game and I am sure most people will like it.

If you can look past the surface brutal language, nudity and action, you will see a very real depiction of southern behavior in the late sixties married to a mob story. The developers even warn you that the game will be rough, but to tone it down would be to cheat people. Whitewashing history serves no one, people really behaved the way they do in this game no matter how you want to try and soften it. It is what it is.
    I like the cut scenes, where the story is being filled in, between what you are doing.
    The only negative I would say at this point is that there seems to be some technical issues. I saw some wonky lighting effects. I also saw some that were pretty neat, such as headlights off a wet street. I know they are trying, we have to accept that. For the most part they delivered well. I would also say that while the game looks good, it is not this gen great. It looks like it could be at home on the last gen consoles. But that is not necessarily a bad thing. Considering how many companies are reaching back and profiting off of 8 and 16 bit type games. The most important thing is the story, which is really really good. I am playing on a PS4.

    Game is great! Its a bit dark and really racist but that is there to show the life of a black man in 1968. Driving mechanics are good, you can do drive-bys and stuff, steering is a bit rough though. Gunplay is well-made and the guns sound real and the kill animations are on point. The music is SO good with a ton of music from Lincoln's time period. The story is really good and the voiceGame is great! It also makes it real with the racism they did not play sensitive rather a Quentin Tarantino approach.The gameplay could be better but atleast its not bad like Homefront!!!

    My impression of mafia 3 is incredible, the story mixed with the soundtrack works so well to make you feel apart of the mission - to get revenge on the white supremacists. Its also very good at making you feel a victim, you have shop keepers and civilians calling you **** and coon, the main missions are brutal and intense. I just done a mission to take down one of the kingpins in an amusement park that was partially flooded and it was so creepy, the walls were alive with animated depictions of priests warding off the monsters which were depicted as black people - this while being hunted down by the white people was terrifying.
    That aside the gameplay is great, driving is realistic, the city is alive, there are lots of buildings you can go into to create short cuts when on foot, or break in to get a collectible or steal some money from the back room of a shop. There is also the typical side missions which comes with open world such as rescuing black women who are slaves at brothels, and taking down white supremacist drug dealers and taking over the land to generate income. There is also a deep faction control which im yet to explore deeper where you can gain radio perks to 'phone in' a van that will allow you to purchase weapons, upgrades, and car mods. So far its up there around a 9/10 from me
    I was reading some uncompleted reviews and they seem to be focusing on graphics, and i think some people dont like how it depicts white people because its very confronting in how real and brutal it is. The cut scenes also show photos and some footage of real events which are very shocking. So i guess most people with no understanding of the impact of the past would find it offensive.    … Expand

    The world needs more devs like the ones responsible for Mafia III. Really great setting and characters that remind us of all the racism that was bad back then just as it is today. Video games don't get a free pass in that regard just because they're entertainment. I thank the devs for delivering this amazing game, I just hope they fix the few technical issues.

    I wont pretend to have finished this game but I am 4 or 5 hours in and feel like I have a good sense of where the game is going.

    Story - This is being told in an interesting flash forward/ Documentary style which is working well.     Visual - Suffers a bit from pop ins and occasional inconsistency in player and background skins going a bit haywire. Good variety in NPC skins but somehow this hasnt carried over to the guys you are shooting at who tend to often to be clones of each other. That being said its a beautiful well set out map.

    Gameplay - Varies from feeling really satisfying to being very frustrating. Actual run and gun gameplay is great, weapon switching in the heat of battle works well and Melee is quite effective, enemy NPC's react convincingly to gunshot wounds and the general AI can be quite unpredictable at times. On the other side of things the Cover system can be a pain and throwables arent all that reliable.

    Overall - Really good game that probably needs just a little more time in the oven to be a really great game, polish is missing in a few areas and I suspect there maybe an element of repetitiveness as I continue on but still feels like a solid 8 and worth a play.    … Expand

    man this 6/10 couldn´t be more misleading. the game is amazing 10/10, better than GTA V on almost everyhting. While GTA is a parody of modern society with good gameplay, MAFIA III shows a much darker side of society with superb graphics, great gameplay and a masterful level of cinematography. you won´t be dissapointed

    Despite a few technical issues, I have really enjoyed what i have played of the Mafia so far. They have captured the alienation of African-Americans in this time period really well, and the story is riddled with classic Mafia-esque themes; betrayal, and revenge. When they release an update for this game it will make it even better as well! Can't wait for it :)

What they did nail with the graphics are the facial animations, they are some of the best I've every seen in a game (if not the best). The gameplay mechanics are solid if not occasionally dated but honestly if something works then why fix it (Rockstar certainly hasn't changed)? My actual rating for the game is 8.5/10 for story coming so strong but gameplay occasionally feeling repetitive. This game though is a must play.     This game is really fun and is worth playing for the sound design alone. Best Voice Acting/Sound Effects/Soundtrack of any open world game ever. Definitely recommend.

    Finally, six years later here is how to make a great game again. 2K don't play around, Mafia is a masterpiece. A different step in the series that will not disappoint the true fans. Gritty,controversial and action-packed.

    This game is amazing, the graphics and cinematography work great. the scenes and story is rich and detailed. don't listen to everyone giving this a low score they are mostly pc gamers and they always **** and moan, there is already a patch out for it and it has never crashed on me, so I say don't rent it just go straight to buying it.

    It's not GTA and I wasn't hoping it would be. I was hoping for a game that brought back elements of the original Godfather game and after playing over 25 hours, Mafia 3 delivers. It borrows elements of GTA through it's 2 hour opening story missions and in its game world design. It borrows gameplay mechanics of other great games too (i.e. Arkham City and Hitman). This may not make it betterIt's not GTA and I wasn't hoping it would be. I was hoping for a game that brought back elements of the original Godfather game and after playing over 25 hours, Mafia 3 delivers. It borrows elements of GTA through it's 2 hour opening story missions and in its game world design. It borrows gameplay mechanics of other great games too (i.e. Arkham City and Hitman). This may not make it better than any of those games individually, but combined, it creates a comfortably familiar experience in its own game.

    Once you complete the introduction story and are introduced to the cast of characters, the game walks you through taking over your first territory. You are free to take out/over as many rackets as you like until you do enough damage to claim the territory as your own. You will also need to collect fuses that are spread around town (along with collectible album covers, playboy and hot rod magazines, and Vargas paintings). These fuses need to be collected to tap into junction boxes in each district that act as wire taps to controlling the area. Once you have control of the rackets and tapped the junction boxes you are given control of the territory and access to your first underboss. The city then opens 2 more territories for you to continue your power grab and extract your revenge on the top crime boss who double crossed you.

    As you unlock each territory a new underboss is at your disposal. As you gain new underbosses you begin to feel more powerful based on the skills and services they provide. You start to feel like you are climbing your way up the ladder of the underworld. These underbosses are important to how you would like to tailor the game to your play style. Each one has more perks that are opened to you the better you treat them. These perks come in the form of weapons, explosives, man power, influencing police, and improving personal traits... to mention just a few. Depending on how you choose to build your empire will be the way you choose to take care of the underboss who aligns with the skills most important to you. Don't disrespect any one of them though or they will rebel and rise against you.

    This is where I'm at in the game and am enjoying it so far. It's not a perfect game. It's not too difficult. Using stealth to thin out groups of enemies helps improve your chances. rather than trying to take them all on in a gun fight. I'm sure as I gain access to the ability to call in manpower from Vito Scarletta I will be able to go toe to toe more often. I'm playing on hard difficulty with low aim assist and using simulated driving mode instead of the 'normal' mode (which is more forgiving in how the vehicles handle). Sim mode makes it more challenging when attempting to evade the police who come after you with abandon once they have been alerted to a crime you commit. Some times you can't outrun them in your vehicle and the best thing to do is get out and hoof it. I look forward to what lies ahead in the 7 remaining districts I have yet to encounter. That's a gripe I had with GTA was that the map in single player was great but I never really had a reason to travel around the city other than to get to the next story mission. In Mafia 3 I'm traveling back and forth taking care of my underbosses and taking over rackets. In the end it feels like it will be an 80+ hour game for me but I like to take my time and enjoy the experience.    … Expand

    This game is very good and graphics are not as bad as some make them out to be.story and character development is stellar. A lot have complained about driving mechanics. In the options you can select arcade or simulation. Get this game you wont regret it!

    After 8 hours, all I can say is this is intelligent, literate and a load of fun. No technical issues so far. This game takes chances with its portrayal of race, but pulls it off.

    I can only imagine that this is either, another case of Meta Critic vandalism, that we are starting to see more and more of late.     I tend to rate my games based on how long I can play in a single session without loosing interest. In the case of Mafia 3, I practically have to get torn away from the Console by my wife, or by my brain demanding that I GO TO BED!

    I am roughly 15 hours in, and am having fun with the great driving and combat mechanics. The missions seem varied enough and and because everything you do in M3 requires $'s I've been completing the side quests too. The dynamic soundtrack is effective at creating tension and the tracks from the late 60s really help set the scene.

    The game does have its issues, some here have mentioned stuttering, crashes and dropped frames. I have experienced all of these issues. On one occasion the game crashed completely, without warning. The lightning engine has its problems too, occasionally flashing brightly or going dark whilst driving. The rain is either heavy or non existent and can change in a heartbeat.

    Are any of these problems game breaking? not really, I certainly loose some of the Immersion that the developers have tried so hard to maintain. But over all this is a well crafted open world, that I'm just can't stay away from.    … Expand

Uncharted, Metal gear Solid all had incredibly repetitive missions and these are currently rated the top two Ps4 games on this site

    At least Mafia 3 keeps up with the fps, gameplay and story. Graphics variate from time to time. Cutscenes are amazing. Lips sync is perfect.

I'm sort of like a white hat in Westworld. It aslo helped that I played really slowly, cruising to the great soundtrack, obeying traffic rules, and exploring the city, like a virtual tourist.

    This game is simply amazing!. This is one of my favourite open world games of 2016. The game is so fun, the graphics are simply amazing, and so is the story. I think its way better than mafia 1 and 2. I would definitely recommend getting this game.

The gameplay loop in Mafia 3 is old hat but it feels fresh. It's a labour of love. And it shows. Its only flaw are the reflections.     My first impression's of Mafia 3 are extremely favorable.     My first impression's of Mafia 3 are extremely favorable. The story is good and very well could be a movie, and in all honesty, its the reason to continue playing the game. The voice acting, script, and soundtrack are 10/10. The Story is not only compelling yet multi-leveled.

    If you come into this game assuming it is all death and destruction you will be disappointed, or pleasantly surprised. The Story is not only hard hitting, it also shows a very human and emotional side. The story and pacing is very good. The soundtrack is very much Vietnam era. It is amazing. From Otis Redding to CCR. It is amazing. I found myself driving around in the car just to listen to the radio.

    Moving on from Soundtrack and story(with that said story and soundtrack get a 10), Lets go to actual mechanics. This is where Mafia 3 starts to stutter. It doesn't break, but it certainly starts to bend. The AI is extremely easy, all most to the point that it is laughable. However, if like me, you want to feel like Jason Bourne and just burn people, you will find it fun to play. I will say if you want a more realistic sense of enemies, this game doesn't deliver. Moving cover to cover sometimes seems clunky and a pain really, yet, not to the point that it ruins the overall experience. Aiming is tight and responsive depending on Aim Assist(which can be changed at will during campaign.) I never found it a problem until hit detection didn't work, which, trust me it won't sometimes. Moving, running, and vaulting does feel unrefined. It can throw you off more than once. You will find yourself in full view of the Police, or enemies simply for the fact the cover system just failed. The mechanics need serious work. Again, not a deal breaker, yet annoying.

    Driving Mechanics. The cars feel heavy and unresponsive. Yet believable. It just works. It doesn't feel like Forza, nor should it. Its meant to be a period piece and I think they did a great job with it. The driving in my opinion is spot on. Heavy, slow, yet somehow amazingly immersive. Did I mention the radio?

    Moving on from Mechanics to graphics. I reviewed this game on the Xbox one. Cut scenes are exceptional, and very impressive. I would par them with Uncharted 4, with amazing voice acting. However, yes there is a however. The game looks polished yet it seems very grainy overall and the pop in is distracting. Certain colors look not only dull, but unreal. Shadows move in a weird pulse and edges are not smooth. I compared both Xbox one, with PS4 and while the PS4 seemed more fluid they both looked choppy. PC version believe it or not looked worse than both. While you are playing. You will notice the grainy graphics, yet, overall they are very good. Animations are top notch. I love the way Lincoln moves after firing his weapon, or the way he moves when firing a weapon. They all look and sound different and that is hard to work. I credit them with this attention to detail.

    Lets move on to overall Presentation. By presentation I mean the way the game shows, explains and shows available content. This is wear Mafia 3 fails miserable. When you open the map you never know where, why, and who. It is frustrating to figure it out. Playing games my entire life I found it extremely frustrating to figure out not only where to be, but in what order and why. This is the biggest negative on the game I have. The game throws to much stuff at one time, and in many different locations without reason, explanation or why it's there. I found this to be beyond madding.

    Playing the game gets extremely repetitive after about 8 hours in, which can be cured by play style, yet I found that it doesn't matter much in the long run. There are collectables and upgrades to be had to work toward, yet it does get old.

    Final Verdict. I give this game a 7.5/10. Based on story, soundtrack and voice acting alone I give this a 10. All things considered I think my score is correct.    … Expand

    This game surprised me, and I don't even like FPS much anymore. The game's actually fun for once, unlike critically acclaimed GTA V for example. Not really sure why but it's got the most important thing going, the fun factor.

    Something like an rewind theatre. What lets it down is the bugs and omission of much needed things such as fast travel, customization and lack of imagination.

    Hangar 13 has just used the template of many open world games and stealth games such gta, Hitman and splinter cell. The side missions in the game feels repetitive after certain point. The takedowns have different animation but loses its freshness as it goes. The shooting mechanics feel compelling and it really feels good when you hit a head shot.

    The characters in this game are given equal importance just like the protagonist. The protagonist from the previous Mafia game has been added and he plays a major role. We can call these character for help like supplying ammunition, support during gun combat. This is the only thing that feels fresh in this game. The cover system is good. The AI in this games is dumb. The people just roam around the same place, along the same path for them to be killed.

    Various key elements are omitted in this game. There's no customization. There is no safe house like the one used in Mafia 2. You can't change your dress. The soundtrack and the back ground score in this game is top notch. The 60's style of music feels good. The use of alligators in the game is limited but it is fun. The vehicles looks good until the frame rate drops.

    Mafia 3 as game is really good until someone compares it with Mafia 2 and other open world games like grand theft auto.. The game will of course get a patch where the bugs will be removed. I wonder how a studio that made a game like Mafia 2 which had some really amazing ideas came up with very less innovative ideas for a franchise that is almost equal to grand theft auto, bio shock.

    A little more innovative ideas would've made this game an alternative to gta. At lest they could've copied stuffs from Mafia 2.

    It seems as if Hangar 13 did a bold move to "change" the scenario for a Mafia game so drastically. But as soon as you start playing more than a few hours, you see the similarities, connections and realise: changes aren't that big.
    Overall, I am really enjoying the first 10+x hours and am looking for the next. The story is good, the music is pure awesomeness and the motivation drives me. As many Open-World games, some things feel repetitive after some time, but with the scenario, music and game-play I hardly feel any fatigues and am happy to continue Lincolns story.    … Expand

    It´s na amazing game with a glorious narrative and ambience. The matter is that people are rushing through it, instead of enjoying like a special wine. Yes, there are some things and details that could have been kept from the older Mafias, but the the overall increase in the story and the amount of gameplay avaiable just make for it. I hope some patchs are realeased soon to fix theIt´s na amazing game with a glorious narrative and ambience. The matter is that people are rushing through it, instead of enjoying like a special wine. Yes, there are some things and details that could have been kept from the older Mafias, but the the overall increase in the story and the amount of gameplay avaiable just make for it.     mafia 3 is a brilliant game. always a fan of mafia series. Some glitches but they will be fixed with a patch, so not worried at all. i think the game is brilliant.

    graphics - 9 story - 10 (to be honest best story ever playing). you;ld give it a 20/10 coz its so incredible soundtrack - 10. gameplay- 8 (would be fixed soon hopefully) driving - so awesome. 10 shooting - definitely my    mafia 3 is a brilliant game. always a fan of mafia series.     i think hanger 18 did a great job, with this game especially story telling and soundtrack.
    should have waited a couple ore months to fix all the bugs and add more customization    … Expand

    Esse jogo é maravilhoso, a 2K realmente caprichou e muito, adoro assuntos sobre Mafias, e eles fizeram isso muito bem nesse game, não entendo o por que das criticas negativas.

    I think I must be lucky as I've started playin' the game with no glitches as there's a new Update for XBox One, my Family Kick-Back Edition XBox Code worked first time and the awesome Poster I got as part of the Pre-Order is on a corner of my Bedroom Wall all for less than £40 at ShopTo!

    Onto the Game itself the Music and Narrative are excellent, Gameplay smooth and Graphics excellent the Roads are stunnin' as always from 2K (don't forget to update your Display & Audio Settings!).

    I was a massive Fan of Mafia II so Mafia III has a lot to live up to, it's maybe not as immediate but so far Mafia III has impressed with it's quality and gameplay!

    No doubt I will be burnin' many hours on this, also a nice touch you get the Playboy Magazine incl. Covers this time around!    … Expand

    Great characters and story, satisfying gameplay, a few bugs here and there but these will hopefully be ironed out with patches & updates. Amazing soundtrack, likeable lead character. Enjoying it!

    Its stealth is too repetitive, its gunfights too familiar, and its driving too boring to support anything else that’s going on. Despite how clever it manages to be in portraying the conquest and control of a criminal enterprise, the nuts-and-bolts missions feel like busywork, and it never fully explores the most interesting aspects of its setting. It’s better than Mafia II, but that’s damning it with faint praise.

    It could have been a really great sandbox for one evening. It’s a shame the developers decided to extend it by over a dozen completely redundant hours, because they had fresh ideas for around one fifth of the campaign and made the rest of the game repetitive as hell. [12/2016, p.48]
