    the game is good, I know it has been developed since 2012, but unfortunately the graphics leave something to be desired at the same time it is beautiful, it's ugly, blurred through image, and has many bugs, anyone compare with gta, not anything gta . It mafia and mafia. They need to fix many bugs.

    OK the ridiculousness of these "reviews" went top on this one so instead of review you will have to trust me on saying I have been playing both Mafia and GTA series since the beginning and Im having really good times with this one.How can anyone say graphics are bad is beyond me.In my opinion GTA 5 looks better at some points but Mafia 3 still holds up and character faces are actuallyOK the ridiculousness of these "reviews" went top on this one so instead of review you will have to trust me on saying I have been playing both Mafia and GTA series since the beginning and Im having really good times with this one.How can anyone say graphics are bad is beyond me.In my opinion GTA 5 looks better at some points but Mafia 3 still holds up and character faces are actually better here.Same goes to weather changing and ragdoll effects that are incredibly fun and natural.So far Rockstar games was best at this but this game is at least on a same level if not better.Story Is also very good and quite narrative but that was always the case of Mafia games.And that you play as a black protagonist ? In GTA: San Andreas no one cared so why is it problem now?! Only real difference is that you are more driven by revenge.Little like Punisher which I like :) Plus do I have to mention that racism was pretty big thing turning these times in America?     Theres not alot to complain about i dont understand the zeros or 2s or 3s but i never do, ive never played a aaa game that truly deserved a zero and ive played alot of games in 30 years of gaming.     Look lets just get this out here right now...ITS NOT GTA but if you already know that its a solid game great cut scenes music and I like the story and the 60's. It also makes it real with the racism they did not play sensitive rather a Quentin Tarantino approach.The gameplay could be better but atleast its not bad like Homefront!!!

    30 fps lock, bad old graphic, crashing in cutscenes, AI is incredible stupid, main character is not sympatic, no original Mafia gameplay, bugs, terrible optimization overall.

    I wanted to rate it zero, but i love the mafia series on a whole and wanted to commend the devs for their effort on the excellent audio track and excellent if not superb vehicle physics. Rest is deep fried cow patty shoved into the customers face. un-optimized piece of garbage. played both the ps4 and pc version. both are awful.     Game is great! Its a bit dark and really racist but that is there to show the life of a black man in 1968. Driving mechanics are good, you can do drive-bys and stuff, steering is a bit rough though. Gunplay is well-made and the guns sound real and the kill animations are on point. The music is SO good with a ton of music from Lincoln's time period. The story is really good and the voiceGame is great! Its a bit dark and really racist but that is there to show the life of a black man in 1968. Driving mechanics are good, you can do drive-bys and stuff, steering is a bit rough though. Gunplay is well-made and the guns sound real and the kill animations are on point. The music is SO good with a ton of music from Lincoln's time period. The story is really good and the voice acting and mouth-syncing is also on point.

    Overall, this game have some flaws here and there, but the gameplay and story is enjoyable and fun, where GTA is a satirical version of real life places, MAFIA III take itself very seriously, definitely a breathe of fresh air in this genre.     My impression of mafia 3 is incredible, the story mixed with the soundtrack works so well to make you feel apart of the mission - to get revenge on the white supremacists. Its also very good at making you feel a victim, you have shop keepers and civilians calling you **** and coon, the main missions are brutal and intense. I just done a mission to take down one of the kingpins in anMy impression of mafia 3 is incredible, the story mixed with the soundtrack works so well to make you feel apart of the mission - to get revenge on the white supremacists. Its also very good at making you feel a victim, you have shop keepers and civilians calling you **** and coon, the main missions are brutal and intense. I just done a mission to take down one of the kingpins in an amusement park that was partially flooded and it was so creepy, the walls were alive with animated depictions of priests warding off the monsters which were depicted as black people - this while being hunted down by the white people was terrifying.
    That aside the gameplay is great, driving is realistic, the city is alive, there are lots of buildings you can go into to create short cuts when on foot, or break in to get a collectible or steal some money from the back room of a shop. There is also the typical side missions which comes with open world such as rescuing black women who are slaves at brothels, and taking down white supremacist drug dealers and taking over the land to generate income. There is also a deep faction control which im yet to explore deeper where you can gain radio perks to 'phone in' a van that will allow you to purchase weapons, upgrades, and car mods. So far its up there around a 9/10 from me
    I was reading some uncompleted reviews and they seem to be focusing on graphics, and i think some people dont like how it depicts white people because its very confronting in how real and brutal it is. The cut scenes also show photos and some footage of real events which are very shocking. So i guess most people with no understanding of the impact of the past would find it offensive.    … Expand

    This is one of the few times I review a video game that I DON’T actually like. I greatly fond this kind of games. I have played every one major title of those open world AAA titles

    This incompetent dev can't even be bothered to optimize a game for fixed hardware. This game has wonky performance, regular crashes, poor draw distance, poor car handling and average graphics. Don't give those money who don't deserve it. Buy this on sale or better yet wait for the complete edition since they have chock full of DLC planned already. What a let down.

    Pros: Soundtrack is amazing. Story is terrific. Characters are deep and very well done. Atmosphere is spot on. Combat is extremely enjoyable. Stalking is well done.

    This game is terrific. It's not Witcher 3. It's far, far better than GTA V and many other recent AAA titles. Do yourself a favor, buy the game off steam, play for 2h and refund if you think any of the bad reviews is actually justified. I'm enjoying every second.

    P.S. It's funny to see how the game dipped to a rating of 3.8 and now is coming up as mature people are realistically reviewing it :-)    … Expand

    Great game, the only downside to it is the bugs and glitches
    So my advice is to wait until they fix the problems
    But overall good game definitely everyone should try it.

    The documentary style is absolutely perfect and fresh.

    Fantastic game. Great story and characters, beautiful and vast open world, awesome 60s music. This and uncharted 4 are my favorite games of this year. I really enjoyed Mafia 2 and just love Mafia 3. I actually prefer it to GTA. Why are some people giving the game negative reviews???? Don't listen to them.     Mafia 3 has a great story. It's amazing! It is the most emotional and atmospheric game since The Last of Us. To be honestly for a long time i thought that Hangar 13 couldn't make Mafia great again. But they did it. My applause and Thank You from big fan of this serial.

    The world needs more devs like the ones responsible for Mafia III. Really great setting and characters that remind us of all the racism that was bad back then just as it is today. Video games don't get a free pass in that regard just because they're entertainment. I thank the devs for delivering this amazing game, I just hope they fix the few technical issues.

    I've played for around 7 hours and I don't know what else people want In a game? This game is fantastic. It's story has me emotionally invested and really giving me a reason for what I'm doing.to me that's what a game like this should do.     Maybe it is just the copy I got. Graphics look last gen, Buggy as can be, NPC'S are dull, boring, and game play seems repetitive. I see everyone giving it a 10/10 rating, but I just couldn't find enjoyment out of this on the PS4.

    Finally, six years later here is how to make a great game again. 2K don't play around, Mafia is a masterpiece. A different step in the series that will not disappoint the true fans. Gritty,controversial and action-packed.

    After 8 hours, all I can say is this is intelligent, literate and a load of fun. No technical issues so far. This game takes chances with its portrayal of race, but pulls it off.

    man this 6/10 couldn´t be more misleading. the game is amazing 10/10, better than GTA V on almost everyhting. While GTA is a parody of modern society with good gameplay, MAFIA III shows a much darker side of society with superb graphics, great gameplay and a masterful level of cinematography. you won´t be dissapointed

    This game is amazing, the graphics and cinematography work great. the scenes and story is rich and detailed. don't listen to everyone giving this a low score they are mostly pc gamers and they always **** and moan, there is already a patch out for it and it has never crashed on me, so I say don't rent it just go straight to buying it.

    It seems like everyone and their cousins were just chomping at the bit to tear this game apart simply because it's either too much like GTA, or not enough like GTA. I swear, can we just judge a game on it's own merits instead of constantly comparing it to what's come before it? Anyway, I've enjoyed my time with this game so far and I haven't come across any issues so far either.     Mafia 3 reminds me of what the mafia films has best: Scorsese, striking characters, good story, etc.

    It also has an incredible gameplay with great controles.Mafia 3 rocks!

I wasn't going to post this until I finished my review but I saw all the GTA fan-boy hate on this site and decided I better come and provide an honest initial impression. I have been blown away by the setting of this game, everything from the time-frame and music are absolutely killer.

    I'm only 6 hours in but can easily say    This is my initial impression on Mafia 3 and so far so good. I wasn't going to post this until I finished my review but I saw all the GTA fan-boy hate on this site and decided I better come and provide an honest initial impression. I have been blown away by the setting of this game, everything from the time-frame and music are absolutely killer.

    I'm only 6 hours in but can easily say this is the best Mafia game in the series yet. Anyone that claims otherwise I dare say may not like that they went away from an American-Italian as the main protagonist; honestly though that was the best decision that could have been made for the franchise as the Italian mob thing has been done over and over again. They have provided us with a fresh take and it looks to have really paid off. So far the mechanics with the game are very smooth, I personally adjusted the auto aim to a lower level to increase difficulty. Which feels about right and has made things more challenging.

    The stealth in the game isn't ground breaking but is done well, I do worry though that the takedowns will become repetitive and stale after time. The driving in the game is smooth and easy as it should be in a shooter. My biggest gripe with the previous installment (Mafia 2) was that the world was very empty and practically dead. That has been remedied here as the world is quite more alive and things are going on all around you. This was an area that I always felt they needed to look at GTA and come up with something comparable, and they have achieved just that.

    The thing that sets Mafia 3 apart from GTA though is the story and setting here. I feel like the racially charged climate has really set the tone here for some amazing historical like gameplay that we haven't seen before. It just really sets it self apart from anything we have seen before.    … Expand

    This game is garbage. Boring, bugged, ugly. They just recreate Mafia 2 DLCs. Even more! Those DLCs are playable than Mafia 3. Just don't waste your money and time.

It's a very weird juggling actVery strange narrative: Mafia 3 lofts a very heavy handed narrative of fighting a strain of oppression endured by black characters, which would be fine, if it didn't confusedly stage Italian Americans as facile, blank-faced, and one-dimensional characters only attributed with a characterization of being seething racist criminals that ought to be mowed down. It's a very weird juggling act that this game tries to perform by lofting a prejudicial angle upon the backs of another stereotype.

The story looks like it's going to be fantastic but the first main combat encounter was tedious and boring. The driving is fine and the city again looks great but that's just not enough for me.     Awful. This isn't Mafia at all. It's a GTA rip-off that is so poorly done that I wouldn't even pick it up from the garbage bin. Technically, it's a failure. Story wise, it's a failure. Character wise, it's a failure. What does this game have to even do with the Mafia like the first two? Disgraceful.

    Okay, rarely I make reviews on this site, but Mafia 3 don't deserve all the hate from GTA5 players, so far the cinematics and action is solid and on the spot, I find myself lost in the world, because it is so detailed that I feels like you have taken a time machine back in time.     just an ok game.nothing special.the missions are usually boring and there isn't something interesting.but driving is so good.the shooting has some problems but they aren't that bad.i hope the next update fix issues like bugs and frame rate.

    Really beautiful atmosphere, whould call it even inspiring. The soundtrack, the voice acting(german syncro is on point, but i prefer english for more ambient reasons), the lighting and colors, all is really really good.
    I always play more with the heart, less with the ambition.     this game has great graphic, very good gameplay.. ai enemies are pretty medicore. driving is pretty fun. facial animation are very impressed to me. Whoever are fan of Mafia series then this game must be for them to play

    This is one of the few times I review a video game that I DON’T actually like. I greatly fond this kind of games. I have played every one major title of those open world AAA titles.

    The driving experience is horrendous. I don’t know what they had in mind but it seems extremely arcadie and targeted for amateur gamers or children, (however anyone can argue that cannot be a child’s game as It is gory and racist). Thus, why there is such bad driving style even on the so called simulation experience?
    My second statement is that the graphics on PS4 can be on times either splendid or dreadful. This can’t be happening on AAA titles I believe.

    Either way I was waiting like crazy this game after I saw the demo in E3, and I state that 2k did a terrible work, keeping in mind that budget given seems to be huge. This can be perceived by looking at copyrighted songs and advertising it got, making it an extremely hyped game.
    I am starting to believe that any publisher passing delayed AAA copies to the critics, it tends to have either technical issues or severe bugs.    … Expand

    A masterpiece. Mafia III is fierce, violent, fleeting. Everything in this game is gorgeous, from its beautiful graphics, to the absurdly realistic physics. The plot is dense and full of strong characters. Applause also for the courage of Hangar 13 to address one of the most violent periods of the 60s, people who suffered from racism and discrimination.

    Two hours in and so far the story, acting and graphics are all very engaging. This is no doubt a high-quality open world gaming experience. So far the game is very good and I haven't even gotten to the full open map yet. It did crash once on me but probably just 1st day jitters so I give it a 9.

    Its stealth is too repetitive, its gunfights too familiar, and its driving too boring to support anything else that’s going on. Despite how clever it manages to be in portraying the conquest and control of a criminal enterprise, the nuts-and-bolts missions feel like busywork, and it never fully explores the most interesting aspects of its setting. It’s better than Mafia II, but that’s damning it with faint praise.

    It could have been a really great sandbox for one evening. It’s a shame the developers decided to extend it by over a dozen completely redundant hours, because they had fresh ideas for around one fifth of the campaign and made the rest of the game repetitive as hell. [12/2016, p.48]
