    Glitchy, matchmaking fails just about every online game. Played a game where everytime I tried to do a passing play my QB ran backwards until he got tackled and fumbled. Icons wouldn’t come up.

    EA is at least consistent... Madden continues to be arguably the worst sports video game on the market. Extremely glitchy, limited franchise/creation options, terrible gameplay and physics. EA should be dropped immediately for such garbage quality.

    Unimproved gameplay makes for the repetitive tackles, glitches, and animations you have been accustomed to for the passed 4+ years. Blocking logic is maybe the worst it's been in years. Clipping is still overwhelmingly prevalent. Face of the Franchise is horribly cheesy and poorly written. Franchise mode hasn't even made a small step forward. The Yard is a new/different Superstar KO, whichUnimproved gameplay makes for the repetitive tackles, glitches, and animations you have been accustomed to for the passed 4+ years. Really the worst thing about this game is that the developers have such a disconnect with the Madden fan base and do not care to hear input. They think people are over reacting and bombarding them with negative reviews. No. We are angry at the clear lack of effort and POS of a "simulation football" game we have been force fed because of an exclusive rights deal. Executives at EA need to put a little bit of that microtransactions money into creating a new engine. The fact that a football game uses a first person shooter as their base physics engine should be all we have to know about EA and their logic.… Expand

    To put it simply, there is not enough improvement here to warrant a $60 price tag even remotely, and when I cite improvement, I’m not citing improvement from Madden 20, I’m citing improvement from Madden 17. Still littered with bugs, still horrendously modeled, still wildly inaccurate to not only the NFL, but the game of football as a whole. Franchise mode remains untouched with a UI thatTo put it simply, there is not enough improvement here to warrant a $60 price tag even remotely, and when I cite improvement, I’m not citing improvement from Madden 20, I’m citing improvement from Madden 17. Still littered with bugs, still horrendously modeled, still wildly inaccurate to not only the NFL, but the game of football as a whole. Franchise mode remains untouched with a UI that is abhorrent compared to the likes of NBA 2K’s MyLeague during even its worst years. The Yard is a novel idea for a free to play side project, but Madden’s bottom of the barrel gameplay inhibits it from reaching its true potential. Had EA attempted to make The Yard more akin to Blacktop in 2K, with a playable roster of legends to mix and match (instead of leaving them behind a paywall in Ultimate Team), they might’ve really had something here, but instead they created another micro transaction fueled game mode with enough sparkly, surface level “features” to blind the unsuspecting casual buyer. There is no depth to this game or any of its modes. The most fully fleshed out game mode is, of course, Ultimate Team, but even that remains largely the same concept from years past and hides its best features behind a paywall unless you want to either grind your heart out (which the aforementioned monotonous gameplay makes no easy task) or run a mediocre team relative to the big fish. The only slight credit I can give EA is toward their improvement of the create a player, but even that must be taken with a bucket of salt given that these improvements aren’t applicable to every mode (see “create a coach” in franchise), that they were only made to cash in on some of that MyPlayer dough, and that even still, it drastically pales in comparison to 2K’s create a player in even its worst iteration. Tl;dr Do not buy this game, do not support EA, this is the same product we’ve gotten for years, and they clearly are not listening.… Expand

    I was so ecstatic for Lamar Jackson to be on the cover of Madden. However, this is the same exact game as every single Madden, and a roster update for those games would be just as good. After seeing all the free copies giving out is just disgusting.

    As someone who has purchased and throughly played every Madden iteration since Madden 25, it's sad to see how poor the quality has become in a game I love so much. Madden 21 is a mess, there's no beating around the bush. It's clear that this game holds little to no importance in the eyes of higher-ups within EA, and that the developers of this game have no pride in their product. The same bugs that plagued and nearly ruined Madden 20 for me are still present, the player movement ( that has been completely overhauled with the introduction of the new skill stick mechanics ) feels slow, unresponsive, and choppy. The game is programmed on the Frostbite engine, made for FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS, the same engine that FPS' don't even like to use. The game is animation dependent, and you'll oftentimes find whichever player you used being sucked into tackles or pick animations. You have receivers like Julio being mossed by 76 overall rookies, guards like SUPERSTAR Zack Martin being blown off the line of scrimmage consistently by players like Dexter Lawrence, quarterbacks like PATRICK MAHOMES throwing absolute ducks when under no pressure. Cheesy diving picks, poor QB throwing animations, unrealistic speed thresholds, superstar abilities that do little to nothing, a buggy Face of the Franchise mode where almost EVERYONE is drafted by the Bears, NO improvements to Franchise mode, NO offensive linemen development trait increases, a 'pay to win' mode in Ultimate Team (AS ADMITTED BY A PROFESSIONAL MADDEN PLAYER), and developers that simply don't care about their product. How anyone supports such a game is beyond me. I'm just mad I can't get a refund.… Expand

Player movements are not clean, Game play is laggy, glitches all over the place, typos, incorrect logos on teams, you get kicked out of everything before it is finished. Their big area of focus was face of the franchise. It is in no way up to the standard they promised. They promised a great scenario engine, the ability to establish your destiny and hypes the 40 yard dash to no end. The scenario engine is decent at best, everything is simulated. You play maybe 2-3 game a season and you can’t in anyway win the Super Bowl every year. Finally the 40 yard dash is hit 3 buttons and whether it is slow or fast the same time is the result. Additionally, let fate decide is always the same outcome. The main problem is madden 20 had zero content at the end and they said they were focusing attention on madden 21. The product they provided does not equal the “extra time” they put into it. The game is not worth the money in anyway. It would be like paying $60 for someone to come and scratch the disc so the game isn’t playable. Don’t buy unless it is fixed significantly or the price is dropped considerably.… Expand

    My favorite mode in theory is franchise, but it's been a mess since 2016 (maybe before). There's no incentive to play the mode that used to be the hallmark of the series. MUT is a money-making machine. There's no incentive for EA to put a quality product out.

    This game is absolute trash. Receivers just randomly drop passes wide open, defense all of a sudden gets a massive speed boost while the ball is in the air. Glitchy as all hell. Save your money and if you really want it wait a week and it'll be in the bargain bin at walmart.

The NFL should be locked up right alongside them for giving EA an exclusive license. If 2K had this license, NFL fans everywhere would have dumped thousands of hours into the game by this day and Sales would have been through the roof.

    I tweeted last year that madden 20 was the worst game I had played since 16, However I still bought it after my trial the week it came out, because I love the grind of building my own team. This year, on September 3rd and my trial is sitting at 7 hours, not being able to stomach the remaining time. I do not plan on finishing the trial, as my mental health may be put at risk.

    Don't waste your time on this product. We need to get the NFL to quit the exclusivity with EA. I have a replay saved showing "Madden 19" in the arena! Not to mention all the bugs in the game. Why release a game that's not ready? Franchise Mode is the same as it was the last 5 years. The Yard is ok, but it's like a worse version of the old NFL Street.     I've played madden since madden 2004. This game is just terrible. Cinematics are recycled, franchise mode is still a corpse. They literally just want you to spend money on ultimate team or grind for hours to just be "decent" its honestly garbage. Do not buy

EA has Lied to me way to many times for me to even think about giving them my hard earned money anymore. The poor quality of the gameplay gets worse each yr with Bugs and Glitchs and Gawd Awful cutscenes. Franchise Mode has been Trashed on, the biggest reason many why madden fans bought the game. Same superbowl ending, Never added coachs HC/ Oc/ Dc/ Sc and just all around stale and same experience. The other half of madden fans wanted a career mode.. What do we get Story Mode in a SPORTS GAME. Each yr we will tell EA sports what we want in the game and all they do is add **** we never wanted. Now they have added more microtransactions to a broke game. EA Sports deservesto lose everything for their Lazy greedy ways. 0/10 DONT BUY… Expand

    Worst game of all time? No, because for it to count as a game it has to be at the very least, playable. Worst demo of all time, that EA scammed buyers into thinking it was an actual game? The story makes no sense, not to mention the fact that almost every single game before the NFL doesn't matter, because you're going to the NFL no matter what, no matter how you play. And even if you're patrick mahomes, you'll get benched for a dude with a heart condition. What. How can a man with a heart condition, WHO ALMOST PASSES OUT TWICE, play football.     This has to be one of my worst investment. I thought FIFA was bad, but this is just atrocious. Bugs everywhere, and slow as a tortoise. Its no different to madden 20, and the executives think they rolled out the best game ever.

    This is by far the worst madden game I have played. From the glitches that cause the clock to speed up without you telling it to, online gameplay that results in finding the most overpowered glitch to make your opponents players dumb out instead of actual football concepts. I cant understand how this game can be put into the market in this state...

It’s reliant on animations that break the flow of the games on an outdated engine. On top of the game not feeling any different from last year, or the past 5 years, the roster ratings are terrible!     This game really is just a roster update with some changes to run game animations. THAT IS ALL. Then EA tried to mask the lack of changes by including some juvenile mode called "The Yard." That was such a joke.

    Why is it that Madden 06 had a deeper franchise mode with more fun features than the Xbox One generation of franchise mode? It's appalling. EA sports needs to fire everyone responsible for Madden 21's vision. I feel embarrassed to tell people I was stupid enough to buy this.

    I would trade it back in but I don't want this disk to be sold a second time. That would be 2 more times that it deserves to be sold.    … Expand

    I don’t think the game can get any worse like first of all the time that I’m writing this I can’t play the yard online and I haven’t been able to play ultimate team online for the entire week the games been out. It’s sad that the only modes that you can play online is superstar and exhibition which are just copy and pastes from madden 20.

    EA screws up by not properly optimizing the game for PS4 and XBox 1 so it lags like crazy. We're talking about a triple A game that makes millions of dollars for EA yet it's full of bugs that make the game unplayable. It had potential but not being able to kick the ball because of lag killed any potential.

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.
