    I’m glad I never actually bought this game and used my trial for 10 hours as this was all I needed to miss out on my first fifa game in a very long time. I usually jump straight into career mode as for me this is the most enjoyable game mode, however this was totally broken and unplayable after a couple of games, it’s disgraceful the state career mode is on release. Of the few hours I played in this game mode there was very little improvements and it got stale very quickly. I also noticed in career mode and seasons that none of the squads bar FUt are updated which again is disgraceful EA have had at least 3 weeks to do something simple that totally breaks immersion. I played fut for the remaining hours of my trial which was just rage inducing the match making putting my full 11 of bronzes vs someone with a 85 rated team is mind blowing terrible connection. The gameplay was fun for the first 5 games or so then that’s when all the typical b.s started, they’ve ruined set pieces again with the new aiming mechanic. The passing is somehow worse than it was in fifa 19 with at least 4/10 passes going no where near where I wanted, the AI that they said they have improved have not they stand there doing nothing not exploiting any space. Overall there is far too many issues with the game at launch, no major improvements to single player since FIFA 14 and terrible arcadey gameplay that gets boring after 5 games.… Expand

    Career mode is slow and broken. Every time I edit a player, their position changes. The menu in career mode is laggy and slow. No latest squads on and no new champions League groups.

    I made a meta critic account just to rate this, why did i buy this **** Bugs ontop of bugs no changes to career mode for who knows how many years in a row now. All they care about is milking ultimate team for everything its worth. I even lost connection to the server in volta losing all my progress in thw comp, why do i need to be connected to a server for something that is a singleplayer mode

    Poor excuse of a career mode, so many bugs it's not worth touching till they patch it, game has currently been available to early access over a week and there has been no significant career mode party whilst there have been big FUT patches.... For obvious reasons

    Career mode is absolutely broken with no realism. Marketed bug fixes are not implemented in the final game, this is FALSE ADVERTISING. Absolute disgrace.

    Sad that the gameplay is actually good this year.
    EA better fix this or many will switch to PES next year

    The game has definitely taken a step back in my mind. Although the game has a slight more realistic feel when it comes to the pace and style of the game it is ruined by one Werner or Salah run. It does not matter if you set your defense to sit back farther or to pinch in giving away the outside of the field, or vice versa to stay wide giving away the side lines, this game demands the ability to stop every ball into space and you simply cannot. And I know someone is going to read this and blab about how easy it is to solve that and you know?.. good for you guy because I cannot afford to buy the fastest and best CB and I'm definitely not going to throw my money away for EA.

    More importantly they have once again done almost nothing to fix the career mode as many of these other reviews say. None of us care about the press conferences or the ability to change what our manager looks like. While they are nice added touches its like not a single person has ever read any complaints.

    The one thing that I think I will disagree on with many players is the pro clubs. Most people like the changes that were made here but I have to say I think its cheap to just give everyone an 80 to start off. Not that having to start in the high 60s was that desirable back in fifa 12 or 13 but it was for sure better than having to put in no work at all.

    Basically, the game is 1000% geared towards those that are willing to throw away money and do not want to put work into the game like they used to. I hope that pisses people off but I know there are some older players out there that agree with me.    … Expand

    Game play seems fun, I guess, but given that I buy the game for Career Mode, the game is nothing short of a shambolic disaster. Pretty much unplayable. I mean you can, but it is pointless if you want to progress, which is the entire point of the mode.

    But hey, it's not FUT, there are no MTXs, so EA simply does not care.

Issues with long serving bugs that haven't been fixed, despite EA saying otherwise, lack of any meaningful new features & even features being removed. Just by going back onto FIFA 11 you can see a number of nice little features that helped the Career Mode experience to be that much more immersive which have inexcusably been removed. Why? Ultimate Team is why. Why spend the man hours making a good single player game mode when you can instead push everybody towards your game mode that earns you billions every year? EA don't care about the people that either don't want to spend £1000's on packs or a considerably large amount of your free time grinding away.

    Where to begin about this year's instalment of Career Mode? Well it actually began quite promisingly. They finally announced a decent number of new features that had been requested by the community for a few years such as meaningful press conferences, dynamic player potential, player conversations & manager creation. This was generally seen as a step in the right direction for once. Then the game released & the Career Mode we received is practically unplayable due to the enormous amount of bugs with even the new features being littered with them. So far there has been around 27 reported bugs & we're only 4 days into the game's launch. Two examples of game breaking bugs include, teams being incapable of starting their strongest starting XI's resulting in unrealistic league tables (Man City being relegated is a regular occurrence) & editing players results in players having their positions being changed & losing overall as a result. This game mode clearly wasn't tested as it's impossible to miss a large number of these issues, & if it was, they turned a blind eye to them & shrugged them off as issues they can patch months later. Unacceptable.

    EA have at least now acknowledged these bugs & are 'working' on a fix for them, however they probably won't be patched until late October or early November at the earliest & that's being optimistic. Even then, there's no guaranteeing that these bugs will all be properly fixed. EA have a history of 'fixing' things only for them to not be fixed at all.

    In short, if you mainly buy FIFA for Career Mode then avoid this at all costs, at least until it's in a playable state which could take months. As a passionate Career Mode player since FIFA 07, I, what a lot of people would say stupidly, pre-order FIFA every year & despite the mode's shortcomings in recent years, still get hundreds of hours of entertainment out of the game, however I've never been more disgusted with EA Sports & a FIFA release. After spending £60 on a game you expect at the bare minimum to receive a functioning game, but for Career Mode players, it's simply unplayable. This is by far the most broken game I've purchased & maybe even known from release.

    Volta seemed like a great idea, until we only got half of it, after a few games Volta becomes stale, where are the online drop in Volta games or the Volta pro clubs, seems like half a game mode, even nhl has online drop in games, career mode is also flawed with top 6 teams in relegation and playing reserve players, needs fixing fast

I've tried Lewandowski and I would rather play another attacker with 70 overall rating and 95 pace. And Lewandowski is not even that slow. I also rage quit every other game over the bad keeper movement and sheer amount of mistakes the keepers make. Every game a goal is scored against me from a keeper bounce back after a save. This has gotten worse since last year. I think I might consider quitting this game for good. It seems ea could learn a thing or two from Konami these days. The changes were extremely basic, not properly implemented and are actually the reason why career mode is unplayable. They’ve managed to make the game ten times worse by adding new a few new features. How that is even possible is beyond me but they found a way. Customising the manager was long overdue, player conversations are just like the press conferences: boring and meaningless because they don’t really have any rewards or consequences to them, player potential is messed up, etc. They’ve spent an afternoon adding in a few things that they thought would placate us and it shows. They had a whole year and they could have done so much more as usual. Looking back at past FIFA titles you can see how they’ve actually stripped away features we liked and that the vast majority of fans would love to have back. Hiring staff, improving the stadium, setting price points, etc.
    After the train wreck of FIFA 19 this was the final chance to win fans back but they’ve proved yet again that they will try to get away with doing nothing but the bare minimum and deliver a broken mess of a game in the hopes that people will buy it anyway.

I wont even talk about Ultimate Team or the new Volta Football, i just want to point out that the Graphics and Animations are disgusting and outdated. lets put the Scanned player faces to the side and take the Generic/Create a Player faces as the main Graphics. Its the worst i have ever seen in the past 10 years, iAs always the same game every year with a few changes (mostly negative). I wont even talk about Ultimate Team or the new Volta Football, i just want to point out that the Graphics and Animations are disgusting and outdated. lets put the Scanned player faces to the side and take the Generic/Create a Player faces as the main Graphics. Its the worst i have ever seen in the past 10 years, i mean even Oblivion faces had more Facial features and Emotions than the Players in FIfa 20. when we Create our own Player we can see that EA added quite a lot of new Facial Customization options, Now you can choose every Facial part Size and Shape and even Morph it :D... sounds GREAT right? but guess what? non of it change a damn thing. every Generic Players have the same face no matter how much you Customize it or morph it, its the worst Character Customization ever in Video Game History. but the sad truth is that EA know that their game is the same every year and they could Improve the Graphics and the Stiff Animations a long time ago (a good example could be NBA 2K series), but they wont make any drastic improvement with each new game that they release. instead they will make the same Game every year, add a little feature like Volta Football or Alex Hunter story etc, and sell it to you for 60$. why? because we idiots are Buying it, cause we want to play with an updated Barcelona squad.

    There are some gameplay tweaks but every mode feels the same for the last 4 years except for some minor tweaks. and so far this year career mode has game breaking bugs. they only seem to put in effort into micro-transaction modes. I just have about given up on EA.

    I have been a Fifa player for god knows how many years without any major changes to career mode,( I'm a offline player) and they just keep on annoying career mode players only focusing on Ultimate team,cash cow for EA. They brought Volta in but really whose gonna play that for long..practically no one.     Passing is awful, the players have gone from feeling like they're stuck in mud in fifa 19 to feeling like they're on ice skates. Your teams AI feels like it has no idea how football works which is a stark contrast to the opposition AI which predicts so many passes its actually unbelievable. So dissapointed.

    6th Attackers are not moving enough to run away from the defender in 16m, if You (EA) don't know how attacker act in opposite 16m box then hire a pro to teach your devs. (this is an old problem)

    7th Career mode. Where to begin with. Teams playing with younger guys, mostly with reserves and unknown players resulting teams like Man. City getting relegated and small teams like C. Palace, Brighton or Tottenham winning the league. Young talents with potential are getting to high overall like +30 in one season. Broken and misspelled press conferences. Private conversation with players are also broken. At the beginning of the 1st season you get same CL groups as last season. Man. Utd. Playing with same PL font European competition.

    8th Ultimate Team. There's no bonus coins in the catalog for extra earning after the match, why they removed that idk. And also you can't rename your club after first time. UT is more or less same from the last FIFA.

    9th VOLTA I mean it's fun but don't expect that this mod is plays like good old FIFA Street. Best to describe it? Regular FIFA with few more fancy tricks but on concrete.

    10th An Advice skip any FIFA game for this gen. console as they getting worse every year. Wait for next gen. of console and then see if it is worth 60$.    … Expand

Loads of players missing from the the Celtic FC roster after initially being up to date, game play is super sluggish, no update to the generic stadiums for years now, career mode is a disaster, commentary is terrible, the stadium announcer is far too loud (could the owner of the blue car etc etc) just absolute garbage butBeen a FIFA fan since 09 and this is the biggest let down by far.     Lying information in pitchnotes. Career mode is total garbage with XY bugs. Its beyond me how FIFA19 CM is less buggy than this crap. Career mode hasnt been updated for some years. Dont buy this crap when you are playing CM mostly.

Robbed! £50 it cost us some paid more. Disgusting. They have ignored us & not even told us when it will be fixed. Everything to do with player/ball movement is so sub par it is almost laughable. You play PES and the player strike the ball like you would in real life. The ball curls and moves like a modern day ball. In Fifa, it has a tiny curl which just about veers from a perfectly straight line. No ball moves like that in real life. Short lobbed passes on Fifa look so fake compared to pes. The ridiculous way players move when they shoot in fifa? Never seen any player shoot like that. Both feet off the floor with legs swinging akimbo, for a tame trickled shot from 12 yards. So unrealistic. What about playing a ball into a striker and him laying a ball off? In PES they have neat little round the corner passes or realistic side foot passes depending on individual player skill level. In Fifa? Oh you’ve got a 38 year old CF performing trick passes. Like that’s ever gonna happen in the modern game. The pitches all look the same, which wouldn’t be an issue however they do not look authentic or real. Player movement is the same as it was in FIFA 13, I really don’t know what this frostbite stuff is about because it’s not made much difference.

    That’s before we even get started on career mode. If you’re reading reviews and seeing it being slated and thinking ‘it can’t be that bad’. Yes, it can, and it is. It’s like it’s been completely forgotten about. Which is probably true seeing as EA are only bothered about money makers like FUT. I think it’s so glaringly obvious now because they have ‘tried’ to make changes. But because it’s been so heavily neglected it looks shoddy, half hearted and not what you’d expect from the game. In previous years it has stuck to the tried and tested methods that worked almost seamlessly. Whereas now they have new menus and features that are half a job and it tells. Edit player is shocking. It might not be important for some players, but for me it is (especially when the game is released with half the transfers not updated and players in last years boots) You click on ‘edit real player’ and you are taken to the ‘create a player’ menu to select male or female, then it takes you the ‘new’ edit player screen. Confusing?
    It automatically starts with the Austrian league, rather than previously with your selected favourite team. Then you have to scroll across to find your teams nation, league and team name, this gets further confusing because teams are not in alphabetical (or any sort of) order. So once you’ve finally found your team and scrolled to your player. You edit him/her, then select to confirm changes. And poof! You’re taken back to the main menu to repeat this whole process again. This might seem petty and irrelevant to some, but I have mentioned it to show just how much they have neglected the basics. It is stuff that should be checked before release, right? I could understand if i was playing a beta. Back on the Beta reference, It is full of bugs and glitches. On career mode with man united, I accepted a bid for Phil Jones (because let’s face it, why wouldn’t you?). Went to the main career mode screen and there he is. Phil Jones top to bottom on the right hand side of the screen on top of every single menu. Scroll right, still there. Scroll left. Still there. Go in to training menu, still there. Went back in to squad hub, scrolled down the team list and everyone just merging with Phil Jones body. Except they would go when I moved off their name. But no, Phil was there to stay. Eventually the last one I left it on was Fred, went back to the main CM screen. And there he is! Phil Jones, except now he was joined by Fred’s Head morphed on to his chest.

    In all honestly, I wouldn’t spend the money on it. Even if they fix all the patches and glitches. If you wanting it to play FUT then yeah, go for it because EA will still give a toss about you. If you’re wanting career mode or authentic gameplay don’t bother. PES is so much better for that. Yeah PES has its flaws, you kinda come to expect that with PES, you kinda accept you’re buying the next best thing or the poorer relation. But that’s just it. You don’t expect that with FIFA. But that is exactly what you have got. It is half hearted and unfinished. Much the same as it has been for years now. However this year it is glaringly obvious and EA don’t even seem that bothered. As long as the FUT juggernaut keeps wheeling the micro transactions in, nothing will change. As the first line says, FIFA 20 is FIFA 19 with a brand new hat on it.    … Expand

Slow.. crossing seems to be off, I find you shoot near post and it will go in pretty much every time, heading is awful. Defending is very hard not impossible but for most people it seems impossible.     Yet again EA publish the same old game with very minor tweaks. The huge revolation this time being Volta football, a brand new experience which is like Fifa but on the street..oh wait. To be fair as always the presentation is great , the commentary is decent althpufh

    Very disappointed. FIFA 20 is probably worse than 18 & 19 & that's saying something. The game play is ridiculously slow, the passing has not been sorted out, to many glitches. The only positive is the soundtracks. Are EA copying Apple? Same **** different number.

    FIFA 20 is a better football simulation in overall compared to FIFA 19, but it’s still lagging behind its main competitor greatly. EA is losing the race to Konami, at least in this generation of consoles, where they used to dominate.
