Full disclosure: I did my research, wasn't gonna buy it, but Bethesda stuck this in EVERY console bundle deal in my region yesterday (black friday), so buying a second PS4 (I have a 7 month secondment across the country coming up and kids at home who would be pretty agro if I took their PS4 with me), meant I had to get this game. It came with Spiderman and Lego Batman also part of the deal, and considering the price and competition I'm pretty sure Bethesda gave it away.

Like I say, I wasn't planning to buy it, but now owning it, and after a family sesh of spiderman last night, I felt I had to see what all the fuss was about. I've seen a lot of people saying they're having fun with this game, and I heard most of the bugs were on PC, so I was kinda thinking everyone was over reacting and the PS4 version would really be okay. I've put 3.5 hours in at this point, and .. yeah it's the worst AAA game I've played, hands down. If I payed real money for this, I'd be angry - I'm even annoyed that it came with the bundle TBH. I want to give it 1/10, because it really is a joke of a $60 game, but I'll leave it as a 2/10 on the assumption they fix the bugs.

To be clear, this game will be really boring I think even once they fix the bugs. I would place it around the level of no man's sky in terms of things to do, meaning you try make your own fun. On the topic of bugs, no it's not just PC, yes they are that numerous, yes it is utterly ridiculous for what's supposed to be a AAA game. Most common ones for me are graphics errors where things are not loading or popping in, atrocious frame rate (even though there's sometimes not that many things visible and the ones that are look like assets from a 10 year old game, the framerate will still noticeably slow down), some animation errors where they seemingly don't load the next animation or skip one, and, of course physics bugs. It's not AS bad as what I've seen people saying the PC one is, but it is totally unacceptable. You think; this came with Spiderman which is supposed to be it's equal in terms of price and quality and this game just feels like a cruddy indiegogo game built with fan-made fallout assets next to a polished, quality product.

As for the game play... there's nothing "wrong" with it, there just isn't really any. You get a list of chores, you do a list of chores, you get bored and see if anyone else is about to play with but they're all bored too.. If bethesday don't do something fast (meaning about a year of development in a month) it seems inevitable that the active player numbers will drop below sustainable by christmas.

Don't buy this game, and if it came free with your console, don't waste your time playing it until it gets the development it needs.

But then, you produce this. hype it up beyond belief, charge so much and for the menstrual gush that fallout seventy crap is.

Even Video game companies are getting in on your hype.

GAME invested in this double decker bus with an advertisement of the worst game since No Mans Sky launch game not No Mans Sky NEXT.

How is it wrong? Simple you listened to the wrong people and this is where it gotcha a FALLOUT 4.5

    Major updates:

    Few more enemies (WHOOPEE DOO)

1 new power Armour (WOW - I feel so warm inside)

CO-OP playability (There is no sarcasm here... good job Bethesda, but you balls that up too)

4 times bigger map (really, is that your biggest headliner,oh no wait)

You can now use nuke codes ( And? so... ah, this is the headliner)

someone used 3 at once and killed a server - give an idiot a handgun and well.... look what ya did.

thas it, Kapuut, thas all she wrote...

oh no, you can now build anywhere ( You had a building system in place and what did you do... ya screwed the pooch)

    DONT FORGET PEOPLE:

These are the editions you can get your copy of Fallout Seventy crap

    Normal
Tri (I don’t care anymore) centennial
A Helmet (to pay this amount for this level of TURD, you must be an idiot)
A PIPBOY you have to build (kill me now, what think tank thought... let’s get the idiots, I mean consumers have to build a 146 piece heap a balls)

    So in further detail:

    1. Old Engine used
Fallout Seventy Crap utilises the “CREATION ENGINE”... forget about the bits and what it does, we all know what it does.

The Creation Engine has been around since the PS3 (wait, what?)... The latest character creation tool Creation Engine is an updated heap a programming ass compared to the previous incarnation Gamebryo.

You have not brought anything to the table that engages the consumer, you say the graphics and the new engine delivers more detail...really, have you seen how crap it looks on a 4k TV with a PS4 Pro... I have more detail in the turd that’s still clinging on to my rectum.

    2. Lazy programming

Have you played your game? In the last 6 days my wife and I have given you 7 days worth of patience, 72 hours of gaming in the last week. My wife, being new to gaming... she was my wingman on Fallout 4 Awesome... now she wishes I get rabies and my balls fester in a corner due to the fact that she has been infected with playing such a horrendous game. 3. No NPC story telling Fallout 3 and 4 had immense and immersive storytelling, the quests and side quests were superb, the engagement and satisfaction from having “Cogsworth” “Nick Valentine” Paladin Danse”... so many stories. what do we have in Fallout Seventy Crap: Notes, Robot and Holotapes (Wow, really...the level of sarcasm is nuclear level....just wow, I bet you spent thousands working on such guph) 4. Graphic detailing poor at best As previously stated, walk up to a wall and check out the Atari 2600 detail of a wall or a piece of wood. Wow... I thought playing a DOS game was poor 5. Someone’s getting released from their job Over the last 6 days your share price has dropped, your position in the video game industry as a pinnacle of what is right and great in the video game industry has been rocked... by no one else but your own laziness. My wife told me to give you inspiration, to facilitate building you back up... I have as many gamer has invested in the tercentennial and for what...... a blister on the face of gaming humanity “Fallout Seventy Crap” You should have hit the ground running with the success of Fallout 4 Awesome. If Fallout 5 was going to take until PS5, people would have waited, and that’s what you don’t get... gamers will wait, if the game or brand is good enough. Instead... you deliver a un finished travesty. The fact that it does not offer the game play or experience by which it was advertised. No you are in no way shape or form in the position of No Mans Sky, but you have pushed so many gamers away by producing such poop. Who ever pointed the direction of Fallout Seventy Crap to go in “Sack them”, Their vision was blurred by their own vanity believing they were more than what they are. Should have stayed true to a single player game than to go multi player and suffer the slings and arrows of such degradation. Me P.s: I take no joy in what I have written, but this gift that I bought that was Fallout Seventy Crap...was an early Christmas present and the bulk of 8 weeks of saving my money so that she could play the tricentennial. you have failed us

I bought this game and in no time at all I wanted my money back. IT'S HORRIBLE. DON'T BE AN IDIOT LIKE I WAS AND NOT GET A REFUND. I have played all the Fallout games, and this is easily the worst ever created. I uninstalled the game within a few days, if that says ANYTHING...

If they tried to make a game that was worse than this I don;t think they could have done it. Not only that but I can't get a refund of this trash because I did a digital download. This will be the last dime Bethesda gets form me. So long old friend. It was fun while it lasted until you decided to squeeze $60 from me for an unready and poorly designed game.

This game is clearly a work-in-progress that had a hard release date. It's entertaining enough but I feel like I paid $60 for an early access game. When you combine all those issues with no NPCs and a multi-player aspect that is poorly executed, it just doesn't feel great. When fixes come in, they may warrant a score adjustment.

They took the worst parts of Fallout 4, bundled them, and sold them for $60 bucks.
I will sum it up for you: There is little to no point in the game other than to collect junk (LITERALLY), scrap said junk, go find more junk, have no place to put your junk, and then kill monsters on your way to find more junk. I have no idea who in their right mind thought this was going to be enjoyable.

The story is mind numbing, and PVP is a joke. To top it off, you have to eat and drink every 10 minutes, ,which just turns into a chore having to deal with the terrible inventory system. I literally spend about 20% of the game in the Pip Boy Inventory screen. Who in their right-mind thought this game would be fun? Bethesda should be ashamed of themselves.

On day one it was almost unplayable, but living in denial leaves me giving the game the benefit of the doubt by saying, "theres probably a ton of people playing. It'll be better tomorrow." However, a week/two weeks later it hasn't improved. Glitches are found without even trying, the base building makes you want to pull your hair out, and sometimes your base just disappears! Thanks to these glitches that Bethesda has no urgency to patch. However they are adding items to the atom shop regularly, which is clearly of utmost importance to them. People are around level 200 already, carrying infinite things and dropping nukes left and right, which also makes the entire server lag. The game is pointless when it's that easy, which it is. A company like Bethesda shouldn't be able to get away with this mess. They simply don't care and it's very obvious. After 40 hours, I just can't force myself to enjoy it anymore. As a fan I feel like I've been betrayed, and it does not feel good. Expand

The worst game of the year and the worst Fallout game ever. I don't know how it looks on PC, but on PS4 it looks terrible. Outdated engine, the absence of NPC and plot - this is not a Fallout, this is not a game. I hope that Todd Howard will stop making new Fallout and sell game rights to CD Project Red. This is the own way to save this series.

Fallout 76s world is functional. Someone really had fun with the map editor. They're on-pair with Fallout 4, in some cases even better. The places feel lived-in and every town went trough little transformations that where build by the survivors.

Shame you don't meed a single one of them.

What you meet are crystal zombies, molerats, wild dogs and ghouls that will some times spawn in hordes five meters behind you like in an early 2000s mmo whenever the game feels you need some action. Not that it would be a challenge tho. You can easily outperform the ai by simple walking backwards and shoot the approaching enemies. Often enough they will bug on reaching you, make their attack animation. Then stand there for a second like they just forgot what they wanted to do before approaching you once again.

Public quests are similiar. I've seen more interesting ones in RIFTS initial release - in 2011. But they don't matter - the loot that they offer doesn't matter. Like most loot in the game. After finding more then fifty pipe pistols it starts to get tideous.

Fallout 76 feels like Fallout 4 - just less. Less crafting. Less building. Less enemies. Less character development. I would write less rpg too, but the truth is that Fallout 76 isn't an rpg anymore. It's a mediocre shooter with progression trough lootboxes.

It's noteworthy that there's a surprising lack of clothing and furniture in the game. The cynic in me assumes that it has to do with the built-in online shop. As the 60$ initial cost where merely an entry fee to the shop. Here you can buy hats for 5$, power armor paintjobs for up to 20$ or new furniture for your base. As well as looks for your character and other cosmetics. Even clothing.

Which is kinda neeeded if you want to stick out. The Character Editor is even more basic then Fallout 4s, which is baffling considering this is a multiplayer title. You will see the same 15 faces again and again. Because that's all you get.

Last but not least is the inventory management and menu control: It's bad. On the pc, building a base feels like playing the Piano. There was no effort in improving controls. It's really, really dissapointing.

Fallout 76 feels like something the B team made with existing assets. A quirky little thing for learning and testing the waters. Sold for 20 bucks. But it's not. It's a fully fledged product for 60$ with an in-game shop containing items for hundreds of dollars. And to me, it feels like someone wanted to make the most money with the least amount of work possible. The truly nefarious could even go as far and say that it's another take on paid mods by turning the Fallout franchise in a 'live service'.

This game is a cancerous, buggy mess. Physics are all client side and tethered to framerate. I learned early on, that if I look at the ground, I run significantly faster than my allies because I'm at a much higher framerate. We got caught and stuck in terrain several times. We were killed by invisible enemies. There is nothing redeeming in this crapshoot. I wish I could get my money back.

But all in all 10/10. Don’t believe the haters, awesome game.

The point is, it's not clear whether it was a technical choice ( i.e. issue with the current engine and non monster NPC and going about their life in a credible way ) , or a creative choice. But in this huge map it's a big missed opportunity: when the dust has settled and the quests are done, there is really not much to do for a character living in an empty world inhabited by infinitely re-spawning monsters, but to take a gun to his head. Even without the bugs this game would be bad. It removes the most important elements of previous Fallout games (story, choice, interesting characters) and replaces them with the worst elements (not very good FPS combat). This project should never have gone beyond the design phase because the design of the game is fundamentally flawed and a terrible idea.

Fallout 4 was an average game in my opinion as didn't live up to the hype of classics like it's predecessors Fallout 3 & New Vegas. This lazy offering is an insult to the gaming community - bland world, glitches/bugs galore (which we didn't mind in 2008-2010 as F3 & NV were so fun but it's been a decade!!!) all in all a complete cash grab!

Yes, it has a huge map and crafting is back with more options and the gameplay loop is still passable as "somewhat fun", but we've lost NPCs, engaging story quests, most of the narrative, not to mention the trainwreck that's the SPECIAL system right now and at the end of the day, this game is a huge sandbox that, in all its vastness, ultimately feels empty. Bethesda has removed a lot of things compared to FO4, but forgot that if you take away from the game, you're supposed to put something in instead.

Additionally, we still have the same friggin problems we had with FO4, but this time, modders won't be able to fix these for at least a year. No FOV slider, FPS lock on PC, weird glitches, objects and enemies stuck in the terrain, MY CHARACTER stuck in the terrain, missin push-to-talk option, disappearing and t-posing enemies... the list just goes on and on... Hell there are even bugs that Bethesda supposedly "fixed" during the beta, but here they are in the final release.

Microtransactions are the final nail for me. Yes, you can earn everything by playing but just the existence of MTX in this game makes my blood boil. It makes it seem like this game went for profits and profits only. At least the cash shop works perfectly, am I right boys? It just adds insult to injury.

Bethesda really needs to get its crap together if they want me to put money down for their products ever again.

There are so many stories and places to check out it can be overwhelming, but in a good way. The world is huge and amazing if you enjoy open world exploration type of games. The limit of 24 per server helps make the game feel like you are one of the last survivors in the area. You can spend hours exploring just one town and not even realize it.

Don't let other people tell you what you'll enjoy. Just rent and try it for yourself. It's not the next game after Fallout 4 and it never was meant to be. It's a post apocalyptic survivor game, where all human NPCs that weren't in the security of a vault died off in the area and you have stepped out of your vault for the first time.

There are blips and stumbles here and there, but nothing that would take away form the pure unbridled exploration that exists throughout Appalachia.

People complaining about the food/hydration systems have not played this game for very long. Every system, be it shooting, melee, food, hydration, carry weight, all increase as you level up as a player. This is an RPG and if you were in a vault for 25 years and went outside for the first time, potentially ever, with a nasty hangover, you wouldn't be so great with aiming or being able to survive alone in the woods solo either.

"I love Fallout games but never really pay close attention to the main quest." -This is the Fallout game for you. "I heard there are no NPCs" There are no HUMAN NPCs, but there are plenty of quest givers in the world to send you to new places and teach you new systems. "This game is dumb." -You probably haven't played it and love the idea of being negative for sport. Opinion from the Russian player.

This should have been free to play and they should have released it in beta and fixed everything before they ever charged for anything. I have lost all respect for this company.

This is a world that is completely empty and dead, and not in the atmospheric way. Bafflingly, the promise of: "There are no NPC's in this game," was seen as a positive in some peoples' eyes, because it just made a world with interesting ideas and basic art assets one of the least Fun and most Boring games ever made.

There's simply nothing to engage you with - battles are either annoying and overlong hassles, or exploits of terrible AI, what very few interesting story bits that exist are separated by hours of joyless exploration, grinding takes way, way too long (thanks to a patch), the audio is sparse to the point where it sounds like an Alpha build before the sound design was performed and implemented, and visually this game is surprisingly ugly. This isn't because of the Ruined elements - every Fallout game before this, as well as other games involving Ruins, from Metro 2033 to Final Fantasy X, all look miles better than this. This only compounds the survival hassle that is a nice enough idea, but only adds needless busywork to what should be fun. Oh, and the Missions just suddenly appear as if the Starship Enterprise beamed down a to-do list for you.

This does not bring me pleasure as I've greatly enjoyed most Bethesda games, but those were great because the worlds were grand and interesting, as well as nice looking from both technological and artistic standpoints. But those were also because world-building was a strong factor, so even if you came across a character that was poorly written or poorly acted, you would still keep your level of immersion; it's the same reason why immersion was maintained despite graphical glitches as well. But here, there is literally nothing to distract you from such problems, as the problems, when they come up, are the ONLY things that you are presented with. There is no living, breathing world to think about to allow you to overlook these issues, nor anything fun to do that you can concentrate on either. Monster animations suddenly going odd were fine in Oblivion, for example, because you were engaged in the combat, but the combat here feels more like Metal Gear Survive than the Post-Morrowind games that Bethesda has made over the past decade.

The reason I don't just give this a 1 is really because this game feels like a legitimately decent game that was simply released in pre-Alpha. This isn't like Metal Gear Survive; there's actual legitimate value here that's simply hidden by a lack of functional design. I can't deny, Oblivion or Skyrim might've been boring as well if you took all of the NPCs out and removed all of the graphical fixes made in the last 6 months of development. But the world is pretty well designed, like I said the story elements that exist aren't bad, and the gameplay works from a basic blueprint; it just feels like they had to abandon a project about 40% of the way through, and then someone released it to the public with working servers.

But because of these problems, I don't think that this will be fixed. Like ME:Andromeda, the problem here isn't a large set of bugs, but the content itself being fundamentally either flawed, mis-designed or simply non-existent. This game doesn't require fixes, but rather a complete overhaul of the content within. I can ignore the bugs, and even the problems with release like paying $20 for a Santa in-game outfit (although that's pretty disgraceful), but this game is essentially a buggy, ugly and boring experience that has virtually nothing to offer of its own beyond constrictive gameplay and world almost completely free of content.

I also have to worry about some jerk killing me at any random moment. Combine that with several other annoyances (clunky menus, forced thirst/hunger meters, low carry weight thresholds, difficulty obtaining good weapons/armor early on, etc.) and you have yourself a merely above-average game. I keep coming back and will continue to play it, but man it could have been better. Now, if they can come back with the next game and keep a few of the cool new things (like the card/perk system), but bring back the experience I loved, all will be forgiven. Expand

As a Bethesda fan who followed them since Oblivion; First off let me just say I am completely appalled that Bethesda thought this was okay. Especially after that "save single-player" video stunt they pulled last year.

Fallout 76 is Bethesda: Buggy, crooked, and most of all a slap in the face to fans who supported them throughout the years. Bad view distance rendering, etc. And all the hallmarks that made Bethesda thrown out the window.

i could do a whole rant about Fallout 76. But honestly it's been beaten to death. By fans and critics

So why the 5 out of 10? Well from a Survival gamer point of view. Sadly among this wreckage it's still pretty damn ultra terrible. But! It's your typical survival game. Set in the Fallout universe. Another game cashing in on an otherwise somewhat forgotten genre. Survival Games.

if you look past the crap that is Fallout 76 and what could've been. It's an average survival game. Now some might and WILL say: "But uh. Those survival games are polished, etc." and that is true. However like some of those survival games. There isn't really any story or npcs. But you, enemy npcs, and other players trying to survival on a gigantic map.

You can build your own base, set up jobs for each of your teammates, do challenges, complete quests, etc. Essentially this is literally a post-apocalyptic survival simulator with the name Fallout slapped on it to bring more attention and all of that dollar cheddar.

Do i recommend this game? Hell no. Play any other game BESIDES Fallout 76. But! If your a survival gamer enthusiast (and it's your money btw) then if you wait till this game goes on sale for a decent price then it may be worth it. It comes down to what Bethesda does post-launch really.

I tried to go into this game with the most optimism and open mind that I could manage, despite knowing this is online only (a practice I am 100% against in this industry since as soon as you decide to turn the servers off, everyone is left with a $60 coffee coaster), yet you managed to make this dingleberry hit every sh*tstick on its way down the toilet. Outdated textures that look comparable to Morrowind in some areas (seriously, did you buy some of these enemies from the Unity Asset Store?), uninspired and boring weapons like the Pipe weapons from Fallout 4, a complete lack of story that carries the other Fallout games, lazy animations/complete lack of animations for some enemies, a nauseating V.A.T.S., and player interaction that is about as good as it was when The Elder Scrolls Online launched. I did not take this amateur hour school project back for a refund, instead I took it outside and fired 76 rounds of .40 S&W into it because I didn't want someone to see it Pre-Owned and think to try this cancer for themselves at the discounted price. Not only was the game bad, but you have also included microtransactions, false advertising on the collectors edition, made the game grindier post-patch without informing anyone, and disclosed people's credit card information. That, on top of the fact that you want to use the same engine for the new Elder Scrolls, has successfully ensured that I will never purchase another game from you ever again. If you don't follow the game, I'm sure you're wondering what went wrong: was it the unplayable launch, packed with glitches and bugs from the Beta that they didn't do anything about? Perhaps you've heard of the very literal scam that Bethesda pulled with the canvas bags. The pathetic follow-up gesture by their incompetent PR teams offering some pocket-change of in-game currency? Even more impressively, customers silly enough to buy the $200 canvas bag bundle then had their personal information leaked, including home addresses. That should be enough reason to-

Oh dear, you want more? Very well. . .

There was the hilariously out-of-touch stream with Ninja, Justin Roiland and some random rapper filling every human on the planet's cringe quota for the next century. How about the gratuitous duplication of legendary/rare items that they can't stop? We also have the completely broken PVP system that the developers looked at each other and nodded, saying, "Yes, this is a good idea," in a completely unironic tone. There is also the constant issue of disconnections preventing you from being able to actually play the game, along with losing your camp that you built over and over. In closing-

Really? I have to keep going?

Yes, they're selling Pay-to-Win power-ups in the store now. (As of January 30th, bonus health). Yes, the game is recycled Fallout 4 assets and engine, with the same flaws and glitches. Yes, they sell slightly-altered armor skins for $20. Yes, Bethesda will completely destroy your character's skill build (which you pour countless hours into just to get) with random "balance" patches without offering anyway to respec. Yes, they are actually banning people people for speaking out against them, including closing their Bethesda account so that they cannot play any other Bethesda game that the victim owns. Finally, yes, they managed to correct some bugged content. . . but due to their gross negligence, brought back all of those same issues that they "fixed" in a calamitous patch. You may have originally believed that giving the game a 1/10 if too harsh. I hope this laundry list of issues proves otherwise.

I'm honestly not sure who to blame at this point, this whole enterprise has been a disaster, thoroughly dragging the Fallout series through the mud, perhaps never to shine brightly again. My working assumption is that those corporate heads grinded their greasy palms together, twirling their rat whiskers when they saw how successful those games like Day-Z and H1Z1 were. What better way to attempt to replicate that with Fallout-76? All they had to do was make a co-op game for the series- just a simple, honest, 2-player adventure through the apocalypse.

The real tragedy is that most people with common sense knew this game was going to be terrible at the reveal and yet the all-too-common faceless, mindless consumers that seem to always lack critical thinking still fell for it hook, line and sinker. . . a story too often told nowadays. Be the change- don't buy Bethesda.

    2. Yes, we the formerly loyal fan base are used to -- and even often amused by -- the numerous bugs and glitches that have traditionally been associated with fresh Bethesda game drops. I mean, we get it: the worlds they typically create are huge and ridiculously complicated, so it's totally unsurprising that their new games will be more infested with bugs than a tenement apartment has cockroaches.
    3. This game, however, is a whole new level of horrific, half-baked gameplay; frankly, I can think of no other phrase than dumpster fire to describe the sheer, virtually colossal degree of jammed-up, low- frame, repetitive, bugged-out pile of flaming garbage that is Fallout 76.
    4. To clarify where I personally am coming from, I am both a long-time fan of the series -- yes, one of those crazy people that spent hundreds of hours playing and replaying Fallout 3, Vegas, and 4 -- and am most definitely not the sort of fellow that typically complains about games on internet forums.
5, Which is why I signed up on metacritic just to write this post. This game and -- as is becoming abundantly clear -- the company behind it has stepped so far over the line in terms of willfully screwing over their customer base that i simply felt obligated to warn off other video game fans from getting suckered into plonking down their hard earned green in exchange for a burning chunk of roadside debris.

It is a Rust and Ark clone, and a rather again 'meh' one at that. This game really suffers from Bethesda's total lack of experience in making a multiplayer game. The lack of NPCs is just ridiculous, it makes everything seem worthless. There is no point in doing any quests to 'save' or 'find' people because who cares? They're already dead any way. The total lack of a story also badly hinders this game. Following an overseer, and never meeting them, makes your quest out to feel worthless. It is only there to push you around the map and introduce you to game mechanics. It's a tutorial and nothing more. The game keeps the same issues and glitches from Fallout 4, which for 2018 is unacceptable for a full priced game. The fact that gear has levels that lock you out of them makes the idea of looting less appealing, you might find a gun you have wanted to use all game, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to use it any time soon. The leveling system is poor, choosing cards just isn't fun and it forces you to use that planning website to make a good build. Card packs are kind of boring, having the ability to either help you or just do nothing. While at lower levels it is a great thing it soon becomes meaningless. In an online game you should be able to refund the cards and get new ones to be able to make the system less annoying, even if you had to spend caps it would still be appreciated. VATs is a glorified aim bot and nothing more. The lack of push-to-talk on release is unacceptable for a PC game as is the lack of any form of text chat, which makes communicating impossible for those who do not want to/are unable to use a microphone. And lastly the survival elements are pointless. They are only a slight annoyance and not a real survival feature. All it does is make it annoying to heal using food or water because then you might have to deal with a drop to your total AP. And food and water is everywhere so that's not even an issue. Finally the state the PC version launched in is awful, the game can freeze upwards of 15 seconds for no reason on higher graphics presets to the point where even top line computers can only play it on high or medium to completely avoid freezing. This game needs heavy optimizing and soon.

Now. Onto the positives. Playing with friends, or even strangers if somehow they also speak with a mic and join your team, is surprisingly fun. Looting and killing with friends is great, it's just a shame that it isn't a normal Fallout game. The shooting and attacking is the same as Fallout 4, if not slightly better, so it works perfectly fine, it's just not spectacular. Building a base or modifying weapons/items is still just as fun as in Fallout 4 but since you can do it anywhere it's even better. However, if you didn't like it at all in Fallout 4 you probably won't here so be warned.

So after all of this I honestly don't know if I should recommend it. If you have friends that have bought it chances are you'll be able to have a lot of fun with them in this game, but it's likely you could have more fun in other games. So if you are planning on buying this please make sure that you know people getting it, make sure you get it on the same device because this game doesn't have cross-play, which is kind of bad. So while you could play this game and have fun I would recommend being cautious with this game, wait for lots of respected reviewers to talk about it, talk with friends and even watch some streams on it. Definitely deserving of a 6/10 with lots of room to improve. Bethesda just needs to keep working on it and do their best to fix all of these issues, and soon.

So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
