    A broken cash grab, a reskin of Fallout 4 were the PvP is pointless and there is no story, the quests are so easy I feel like even if I were disabled I would still breeze through this game, everyone is a bullet sponge and any chipping down the health-bar can be pointless with a Stimpack. This is what happens when review companies accept money for reviews. I don't know what kind of power Bethesda has to have a review embargo or whatever. Its been 5 days since release and there are1.     Im glad this game is getting such terrrible reviews. I love Fallout and elder scrolls games but we cant keep rewarding Bethesda for giving us outdated and just plain lazy game design. They even plan on using the same engine for Elder Scrolls 6 and there new space game. If this backlash doesn't wake them up and cause them to actually give us a new game for elder scrolls 6 then Bethesda deserves to crumble.

    I mean honestly how do these game concepts get approved by a room full of People? No npcs? Weird PvP that just ruins the game. (have separate PVP and Pve/pvppve servers and people will make their choices like every other game that tries to do this. You cant make everyone happy and when you try you make no one happy. The game is a buggy mess that just isn't ready, there is no content, no end game, and base design sucks. There is nothing going for this game period.     They marketed this game saying it would be a unique MMO Fallout experience. It's Fallout 4 with a new map, no driving story, and all the fallout 4 bugs still attached. This game is so unbelievably
    unremarkable and only for those that love the fallout universe and want to play it with like-minded individuals

    It's hard to say that this even can be classified as a game. It is more of a 3D map that you can wander from place to place, interrupted by server connection issues, or worse dropped from server only to find your progress for the past ten minutes erased and you are starting from a point far from where you were. The spartan sets of enemies are uninteresting. The quests are uninteresting. The building aspect is limited to such a degree by multiple factors that it is uninteresting. I've spent about 30 hours so far TRYING to find something interesting. Spending $60 for a game and having it be mundane and boring with little to interest me, while being inundated by bugs, intentional limits by the developers, and a sheer sense of discouragement as to what I should do in the map (can't call it a game). Loved Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas, can't find anything to love about this...well wasteland is the best term for it. You should at least be able to set the dumpsters on fire in this game to give it a true symbolic gesture as to what this game is and where you just threw your money at.… Expand

    The experience reminded me of the letdown I felt with the No Man's Sky. A few words to describe my point of few... clunky, awkward, and empty. I tried both the controller and mouse and they felt equally clumsy, .just off. Unfinished. I will NEVER preorder any game again. I hate to be unkind and hate to give bad reviews, but if    I was SO excited but now...I am just .....sad.

The world is nice and big though the visible pop in of horizon objects and flat textures shows how dated the engine is.     Currently having been a long time fan of the Fallout Series I am quite disappointed with this entry. While the concept behind the game is certainly sound, the execution was dropped several times on it's head. The player count for the game is underwhelming, leaving each player sometimes struggling to locate one another.     I however was quite optimistic about the game, giving Bethesda the benefit of the doubt. The game would only reveal a small amount but show it's colors and catch us all in shock. But it failed in the end, as it was shipped in what feels like early Alpha or Beta. While core mechanics are certainly present in the combat, and exploration, the lack of real story, content, NPCs, and substance hinder it. After getting a few good hours in with my partner, we found ourselves genuinely bored. We delved into the PvP system a little, but after a few honest fights, found players simply avoiding combat, which led to further boredom.

    Enemies will respawn immediately once a new player has entered the AO. Meaning any fighting done to scavenge items must now happen again before looting peacefully.

    Overall I feel like Bethesda dropped the ball, trying to create a Fallout style MMO like FF14 but their own twist. With no real story, lore to base content off of, and NPCs to provide much needed dialogue it feels empty. FF14 for example has NPCs that provide small quests or small bits of audio to help the game feel alive. Bethesda could create a few dozen quest givers, with the ability to become incapacitated or no hit boxes, as to prevent players from ruining other players games.

    In the end I'll be returning the game, and waiting for it to release with more content hopefully. Otherwise this is a pass for me.    … Expand

    The price tag should be no more than $12 USA dollars.

    Bethesda was asked many times in the past within blogs and forums requesting they make a Fallout game that was immersive as Fallout 4 and previous games but was just co-op, only with friends etc.

    The multiplayer game route option they have took is terrible' glitches everywhere server kicks regular and game crashes way too much. This game has destroyed the Franchise and Bethesda should be ashamed of this half effort of a game!

    No going back I suppose for them now, as the baseline game has been made almost it seems with the same engine yet worse outdated and so broken even with a 48GB fix it still plays boring and uninteresting with way to many features broken and missing.
    If only they had listened to the community in the first place ''Single Player Only' OR ''Co-Op only''
    Looks like they just made the game just for some quick Caps $£

    This game is absolute Trash. The in game engine is extremely old and outdated, it has not aged well. The lack of NPC's and story force you to now focus on clumsy mechanics, glitches, bugs, poor textures, and generally speaking - some ugly ass graphics.

    Do yourself a favor and wait until they've supported in some way, also, buy it used. A 10$ price point feels about right. Would not recommend.

    This is not a game, just a cash grab product of marketing. There is no Todd Howars in it, just his name. It is broken, ugly and pointless. Hope Bethesda will change their approach, after this absolute disaster. If you truly care for the future of Fallout, I beg of you, don't buy this product! P.S. Even a mere thought, that we could get something like New Vegas brings tears to my eyes(((

    This game is one of the loneliest games I've ever played. There are no NPCs in this game, all the characters that are supposed to help you and make you feel included and special are gone. They are replaced by other players on your server, most of which who just shoot you relentlessly until you die because they are just as bored an lonely as you, but have decided that killing and annoyingThis game is one of the loneliest games I've ever played.     I think my score is higher than I want to give, but I have to give the game some good points in certain areas. The details in graphics are pretty good although not as clean as they should be. The map is huge and has plenty of places to explore. Downside start there, armor and weapons wear fast. Hard to find ammo for anything other than .308 caliber. The missions just seem boring and repetitive. No actual work/thought ever seems involved. I walk all over and nothing really happens. No one has had a mic that I have come across and half the ones I've interacted with tried to kill me, one was successful. I play the game for a couple hours and when I'm done I feel like something is missing and I'm bored, gameply just seems unfulfilling. Glitches just like New Vegas but New Vegas was fun, and there was a good story line to everything. I paid for the power armor edition and I regret every cent. Even the helmet was a bit of a let down. I wanted to like the game but everything is just meh.… Expand

Prior Fallout games were fun because you did not have the ant hill mentality of multiplayer to get between you and the enjoyment of the game. The quests are all fetch and forget ordeals given to you by soulessFallout 76 is a betrayal of everything I have come to expect and enjoy in the Fallout Franchise. I've played and loved Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and to a lesser degree Fallout 4. Prior Fallout games were fun because you did not have the ant hill mentality of multiplayer to get between you and the enjoyment of the game. The quests are all fetch and forget ordeals given to you by souless robots or other non-human mechanisms.

    There are NO companions and this hurts because; I always enjoyed the Super Mutant Companions. Last thing I want in a game is to spend hours crafting a nice building or defense only to have some 8 year old ruin it all. Don't even get me started on the patch that is HUGE like 50 gigabytes, so forget it if you don't have high speed broadband.

    Mostly the Fallout 76 is boring, repetitive and uninspired. The story is lame and the lack of Human NPC's just makes the world feel empty. The NPC's used to add a layer of immersion to the story and quests that made things fun, consequential and worth doing. My review has no spoilers because, Fallout 76 is so bad there is literally nothing to spoil here. The problem with garbage is that it is already spoiled and Fallout 76 is just plain straight up garbage. Save your money on this mess it is not worth buying not even for $3.00 in the bargain bin!    … Expand

    I love this game, played the beta and put in over 50 hours in the first three days. It's super fun. But it gets 0 out of 10 because of how buggy it is. Game-breaking bugs affect main and side quests, and the server is constantly disconnecting and crashing. With this much crap it should be free to play. No point in claiming workshops or building if my CAMP gets deleted occasionally and theI love this game, played the beta and put in over 50 hours in the first three days. It's super fun. Oblivion, FO3 and Skyrim had their innumerable bugs, clunky UI and generally bad combat and gameplay, but they always made up for that with their charm and sense of place and decent(if not great) writing. There's barely any writing in this game, and it's all deliveredAs a Bethesda fan since Morrowind teleported me to another world when I was a kid...this is absolutely embarrassing. Oblivion, FO3 and Skyrim had their innumerable bugs, clunky UI and generally bad combat and gameplay, but they always made up for that with their charm and sense of place and decent(if not great) writing. The holotape system is awful and irritating, and doesn't help at all to follow a quest path so you can immerse in the story . All of them feel random tapes. ALL OF THEM.

    CONS:
    Enemies. Enemies? What enemies? All I'm killing are scorched dudes. I killed 2 roaches and 2 mole rats. The rest scorched people.

    Paid content. You can actually pay MORE money to buy stuff (very **** in my opinion) for the game. Like how can you even do that? Where is your integrity? In my wallet? Keep looking then. I find this part extremely hilarious XD Like for real. You can PAY MORE MONEY. Who would do that?

    The no NPC system kills the vibe. To be honest with you, every time I play I keep thinking that I will find a hidden NPC. But it's not gonna happen so... f*ck that.

    PROS:
    Let me state that in NO WAY, the pros make the game any better. Not at all.

    Looks like mods for weapons and apparel are OKish.

    The C.A.M.P it has a loooooot of problems (just like in FO4). But I kind of like the building of your own base.

    I would suggest another title for this game: No Man's Sky from 2016.    … Expand

    Too many bugs, server keeps going, same old engine as Fallout 4, No NPCs, playing solo is super boring, its only fun when playing with other players, weapons keeps breaking, Hunger and Thirst meters keeps lowering every 10 or 15 minutes, the world just feels empty, Fallout 76 is just a huge mess!

    They just need to stick with single player RPG's that have tons of NPC's and a good story. FO76 was a huge step backward with all the issues, bugginess, terrible gameplay, boring fetch quests, and aggressive players who rarely show up, but show up nonetheless.

    I really wanted to like this game, but... I made it to Level 11 before I became so angry and frustrated with this awful attempt in the Fallout universe. The worst part is the ghastly UI where you must scroll through a hundred items every 2 or 3 minutes to find what you need. The next worst part is that the respawn puts you FAR away from your 'Last Death' and often drops you into anI really wanted to like this game, but... I made it to Level 11 before I became so angry and frustrated with this awful attempt in the Fallout universe. The worst part is the ghastly UI where you must scroll through a hundred items every 2 or 3 minutes to find what you need. The next worst part is that the respawn puts you FAR away from your 'Last Death' and often drops you into an unsurvivable situation with Supermutants, etc. No way back! Aaaarrrggghhh! The third worst feature is that there is absolutely nothing and no one to care about in the story. This is because it is all told through holotapes that are almost impossible to listen to without being attacked and killed by the Scorched ot Supermutants or, or, or. Infuriating! There are also notes that are illegible (I have better than 20-20 vision) sitting 12 feet from my 70" screen and no way to zoom in on them. Moronic!

    This is the WORST $60 I ever spent on a game. This game make me long for the comparatively great experience of No Mans Sky when it was first launched. This game is a GREAT advertisement for Elder Scrolls Online.

    I have stopped playing this game and will try again ONCE more in about three months to see if there is anything like an adequate gameplay experience. Personally, I hope the colossal incompetents who planned and designed this game are fired and blacklisted    … Expand

    It's a buggy mess. No reason to progress, nothing to interact with, nothing to drive me forward. Zero incentive to play.

    This is an appalling attempt at a multiplayer Fallout game. It would be overzealous to call this a pvp game, or even a multiplayer.

    Literally a mile wide and half an inch deep.

    What a sad waste of resources and time. I hope that the complete failure of this doesn't kill Bethesda, I love their games. This, however, is not a game - it's an empty, shallow shell of a game with not a single redeeming feature.

    The game is literally the previous game fallout 4, but some how uglier buggier and all of the story ripped out of it. But they did add online so you can all join together and talk about how crappy the game is.

    Starts out fine, but genuinely just gets boring after a few hours. There's no soul to the game, and with no NPC's, theres nothing driving you to do any quests. Really wanted to like this game, and have been left extremely disappointed.

Who does not know, if you have more frames per second, that your character runs around the location like mad, the less frames per second, then you think you walk like a Kuala.     I wasn't expecting anything mind blowing, but Fallout 76 actually falls below my meager expectations. Somehow the animations are far worse than Fallout 4, way more stiff and un-lifelike, gear is level gated, the perk system isn't very fun and doesn't allow you to build a character the way you want. The world seems empty and lifeless. Grouping and gaming with other people is a challenge,I wasn't expecting anything mind blowing, but Fallout 76 actually falls below my meager expectations. I just want to say: this game is the first fallout game since the first in the mid 90ies i do not like at all, the first i just cannot have any fun with. I even liked Fallout Tactics and as from now on the PS2 Fallout is not the lowest of this franchise. That at least made a little bit fun with a friend.

    This is not an rpg as show the lack of npc or the (only) simple quest (go there, kill, loot, repat). You can found storie (trought note and hollodisk or terminal) but you will never be part of anything.
    This is not an FPS, as bugthesda never understand how to make shooter or the ennemi IA that goes with it.
    This is not a survival game as past the few first level you would have no difficulty regarding thirst or hunger.
    This is not an open world PVP as the mechanics are all against pvp (no loot, duel had to be accepted, etc).
    This is not a building game as the limitation won't allow you to build anything biger than a 3 stories house. and anyway you'r camp disaper when you leave server.

    So what is it? It does have the game engine of FO4, it does have the colors of FO4, but it's empty. . . Nothing to do, nothing to see, no fun. Beteshda sould have remeber that FUN is part of the definition of GAME and SUCCES.

    And i had to say it but the atom shop. . . buy usless emoticon, hat or pyjamas are overexpensiv (6$/€ for pyjamas. . . ), pass your way nothing to see.
    At least it doesn't make microtransaction P2W or unavoidable. Which is actualy the only good point of this game.

    I found mostly negative reviews but I told myself "These people must be haters or just wanting another typical Fallout game" I was excited to tryout the first full-online Fallout game myself and I gave the devs a lot of credit to begin with for taking this risk to change the way Fallout games were.

    But f****** h*** this game is a piece of s***, I tried so much to be happy, motivated to go up and play this game but it is absolute nonsense. I only opened the game again because I told myself "I have paid 60 bucks, I need to see where this goes"

    PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY, DO NOT SPEND IT ON THIS C*** !!

Other than killing random mobs and looting their corpses this game is devoid of purpose. There is no RPG elements, no branching stories, or interesting characters; just a group of roving psychopaths murdering irradiated creatures (you and your buddies).

    I am very disappointed by this game, it feels lazy and uninspired. The game is also awash with bugs and technical issues. I hope for the sake of the Elder scrolls series that Bethesda will learn from the failure of Fallout76 that is my only positive for this game.    … Expand

    Now, take the world building, RPG elements, and NPCs out of a Fallout game. What do you get? A glorified battle royale with Fallout 4 combat mechanics, which wasn't even good to begin with.

    Graphics are quite bad; low texture quality, ugly mesh models, and stiff animations make this game an eyesore to look at. Performance is awful as well; how can an engine, that's almost a decade old mind you, run so poorly on the current generation of consoles?

    So yeah, Fallout 76 is a game with such wasted potential. If this game wasn't charged for full price, I would've been more lenient. However, they want me to believe that the game is as good as a game like Red Dead Redemption 2, and that game is superior in almost every single way in my opinion. I would rather recommend you to purchase that game rather than this, especially when Red Dead Online comes out.    … Expand

    Any fun to be had from exploring and scavenging will quickly evaporate into frustration due to technical problems at a fundamental level. Core quest design is also heavily hamstrung by not having any NPCs - the lack of consequences or social positive reinforcement for your time and effort makes your adventure seem purposeless.

    I am a huge fan of the franchise. I got the game pre-order and cancelled during the Beta, because it was poor in both what I saw and not worth £60 when compared to Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 which released within the month of 76, there's an epic void of quality between the two.

    Within 9 days 76 was on sale at half price. A reflection of its actual value. Make no mistake, this is not an original game, I've put in a good 40+ hrs and it's just a poor mans FO4. The AI is actually worst than FO4, honestly, it's really, really bad, and alone this beautiful yet empty world feels boring.
    With NPCs missing, the story is a fetch quest style Go To that only morons could possibly appreciate, logging in to a terminal to read and read then go to next place, pick up tape and listen and listen - it's all so hollow. Where are the characters... oh ...that's right "we are the NPCs" ...no, we're really not.
    In 40+ hrs my encounters have mostly been people running away from me, people waving and trying to give me free stuff, or me shooting people and them logging off / jumping to a new server. There's such poor PVP mechanics, that I wonder why they added it at all - and it's your fault, the solo players that whined when 76 was announced that they didn't want to be bothered by other players - well - they made a game so poor, such bad mechanics that if after a month of logging in your still going, you are alone as everyone else is bored mindless.
    Bethesda's desire to use such an old engine really shows when compared to other PS4 titles in 2018. The animations are 100% from FO4, the boss is from Skyrim, and they released this as a full price game.

    Bugs - seriously - from enemies appearing in walls, items causing crashes, workstations causing crashes and crashes just crashing - this is a total mess. I'm on PS Pro and it's dogsh1t.

    What Bethesda could have done:

    Released the game at £20 as 'early access'. Fixed bugs gradually. Added actual content. Not focused on a bizarre Atom store whereby you spend £20 for an emoji and santa hat. Released it with PVP or PVE servers for players. Let more people on a server. Given it a real story. Kept with lore from previous titles. Given it to another developer to make.

    Overall it really as bad as people say. I thought at half price I'd try it after completing RDR2, but I still want my £30 back. I got 9-10 months out of Ark online, and expected to get at least 2-3 out of 76, but it is so boring, so so boring. I've 68 PSN friends and 1 other played 76 - we hooked up once and had a fun evening - but that's because we have fun in any game, not because of 76. There's players out there trying to collect all the blueprints, trying to get higher level legendries - WHY ? Will a better gun make others want to pvp? Will having a new table type make the base building any more fun? No... your grinding your time out on a crap experience. I'd recommend ARK or any online PVP or even ESO over this ...     I gave this game two evenings of time and reached level 12.
    The perk system does not have any influence on the character progression what so ever.
    Either you steamroll ghouls or you get onehitted by enemies that are 5 levels and more above your level. The environment is nice and kind of a fallout atmosphere sets in.     The environment is nice and kind of a fallout atmosphere sets in.
    However you do not find any good loot at all or the loot you find does not have any effect on your progression as well.
    The events occurring on the map are completely random and you always have a hard time to compete with them. EIther a bazillion of ghouls rush for a machine and destroy it while you stand next to it and wont get any aggression from the mobs or a level 30 monster will spawn next to you and you instantly die - however you can just jump up a fence and kill the level 30 enemy from there because it will move next to you and stand there staring at you until it dies.
    After having collected a lot of scrap and building kind of a base I became frustrated as well by this mechanic, as you can only use a fraction of the available blueprints and would have to grind to unlock more. So my base was up and running and had a decent defense set up - due to blueprint restrictions - when it got overwhelmed by a bazillion of level 30 monsters destroying everything in the base. When I figured out all my resources gained from two days of grinding scrap were gone, because destroyed base items are gone for good, this was it for me.
    Not to talk about no storyline what so ever to guide the player across the wasteland.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Game is really boring and buggy or just unfinished broken junk. When walking backwards you walk into invisible walls yes i see that there was nothing stopping me when i turned around to see why i couldn't walk backwards. The main story quest is you following holo tapes that someone leaves behind and you don't feel like you are contributing to anything. The pvp is broken when you are up against 2 people with power armor and you got nothing and there is something you can do but let them kill you. The building is broken there are only a few spots to build and if someone builds at a workshop you can't move it or collect your stuff that got placed next to it. The hit detection of enemies is also broken. Just don't buy it and save your self the trouble or just watch people streaming it.… Expand

    Bought first day for 60€ to enjoy bugs and several kicks from server and crushes just to see it at 36€ discounted on several sites barely a week later.
    It should be a free multiplayer feature for fallout 4.

    This game is basically a fallout 4 mod. It is a buggy mess and without a proper story and npcs the game is left with a mediocre shooting system, already aged in fallout 4.
    When fans criticez the fallout 4 dialogue system appearantly todd howard decided that the solution is to remove npcs thus removing dialogue and choices completly. Well done bethesda ( sarcastic )

    No NPCS, no story, Fallout 4 copy and pasted graphics, a ton of bugs, cancerous community with names like pu$$y_licker, an empty world. Every game critic goes ham 10/10 5/5 100/100 best game of the year. Oh and I almost forgot microtransactions when the game already costs 60$. And yes these are all issues that Bethesda pretty much confirmed are to stay.

    It is a lazy cashgrab. Don't pay 60 bucks to run around in an empty void. I feel bad for the Designers, that obviously put some thought and effort into the worldbuilding and trying to make something off this ancient engine. In vain, sadly, since the Bethesda was probably like "nono, don't worry, just do whatever, no effort, everyone is gonna buy it based off the name alone"
    But the audacity this company has, to charge 60 bucks AND include laughable high Microtransactions is way beyond me.

    It runs very badly on the PS4 too. I don't own a PS4 Pro, but i guess it runs a bit better there. It's very laggy, sounds pop in and out randomly, so do textures, when they don't decide to have a flashy rave.

    I didn't expect much, and i still was utterly disappointed. I liked the previous entries, especially Fallout New Vegas and after keeping track of Beta Reviews, i thought i could expect some mindless, grindy, braindead fun. But all i got was a broken game and feeling ashamed of myself for giving Bethesda my money.

    So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

    Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

    Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
