    -voiced protagonist, oh goodness how long ive waited for this. and i have played every fallout released so i am not casual by any means
    -music is amazing
    -story is wonderful and immersive
    -more companions than ever
    -so much to do. and every side quest is immersive and interesting, like a whole new story!
    -settlement building, yes it could use some work but it is an amazing feature
    -gunplay is so smooth. i actually prefer standard aiming over V.A.T.S now!
    -and last but not least, the different factions you can join. they are all unique in theyre own way
    cons:
    -fps issues, even on a high end pc
    -sometimes the game will crash
    -the old dialogue system was more accurate and predictable
    -thats it! i honestly love the game. and i feel like anyone who isnt pessimistic will love it as well. This game was worth every penny ive spent on it and more, and i see the low scores, these are people that are too afraid of change. this game is leaps and bounds ahead of the others, maybe not graphic wise but true gamers dont play for graphics alone. my final complaint is the wait for more fallout! as they sold a season pass for 30 dollars and we are getting over 60 dollars worth of content as a thank you to theyre fanbase. this is the one developer i will trust and actually invest my money in. because they have done such a great job with the game i love.

    The map was more fulfilling that fallout 3's. There i said it. It was a good looking game. There I said it. The story seemed a little recycled from fallout 3 and yea maybe it was lacking in interesting side quests. But you need to look the good ones. The Kellog quest. The art Gallery quest. The

    The companions in fallout four blew fallout 3's OUT OF THE WATER. I mean piper and cait alone would have been enough for me.

    Its going to feel a little recycled since its IN THE SAME GOD DAMN WORLD. The same mobs, the same mechanics, the same story lines. Yes, they could have been more innovative, yes they could have done more with the 7 years they had. But they have promised to improve and the first round of dlc looks pretty damn good.

    Fallout 4 is a good game. If you gave it a 0 or 1 or 2 or 3 you should be embarrassed.

    I LOVE this game. I only have 2 problems with it:
    1. There are a lot of bugs.
    2. THERE'S NO BOW AND ARROW!

    Overall fantastic game though. I love how much freedom you have and the combat is really awesome. Must-have for people who like single-player games and want one that will last (I've been playing for close to 150 hours now, and I'm still going!)

    if the issues actually get addressed/fixed, it should be a marvelous game. as it stands, it's going to be largely unplayable for many (if you don't care about settlements and you want to fly through the main content as fast as possible and skip most optional quests, you might be fine and have a quite enjoyable experience. if you're a completionist, you're doomed).

    I like their graphics, he has a touching and well compliments story characters.
    This game takes us to a post-apocalyptic world, which I personally think that if it can happen, because of the wars.
    According to my scores I always based on 5 categories that also goes:
    History: 9
    Playability: 9
    Graphics: 9
    Soundtrack: 9
    Expectations 8
    My Conclusion: 8.8 = 9

Going into this game, I was hoping that Bethesda would take some of the amazing lessons-learned from it's last few games, Fallout 3 and Skyrim, both of which I played for hundreds of hours enjoying their lore and replayability, and improve upon these amazing games.

    Unfortunately, I feel like it didn't deliver on these high hopes at all. It's not a bad game by any means, but compared to its predecessors, it has almost the exact same storyline as Fallout 3 and very little of what I loved from Skyrim, which was an amazingly immersive world full with deep and rich lore.

    Don't get me wrong, it's not a horrible game and it was certainly entertaining for about 40 hours as I went through the very fun main story arc but after I finished the main quests, I felt very little reason to continue playing. And the main reason for this is that the main story arcs left very little room for completing missions in a variety of ways like the older Fallout games because (SPOILERS) any group I joined made me KILL ALL members of the other factions without the ability to compromise or become a cool double-agent. This left me almost friendless and not caring much for the wasteland after my story was over and the side quests were not compelling enough to keep me around for the several hundred hours that something like Skyrim could.

    I've read other reviews where it has been pointed out that combat and the RPG elements have been dumbed down drastically. In my experience, this is true but it did not impact me very negatively. It felt like I had a bit of a customized character but it did indeed feel like I'm no longer playing an RPG and more of a clunky shooter.

    My overall verdict for this game is a 7. It's ok, perhaps even above average. I'll probably buy Bethesda's next few games without thinking about it but I will be sorely disheartened if their next Elder Scrolls game takes the same route of essentially copying everything that was done in Skyrim and then dumbing it down a little.

    This was a great game, and I've spend over 100 hours and reached level 50. What made this game great was the huge open world with interesting locations, and hundreds of side missions that should keep you occupied if you're into the grinding in video games. I know there are multiple endings, but the ending cutscene for the decision I chose was atrocious, and a slap in the face for me. I was going to try multiple endings, but when that end game cut scene rolled, I stoped playing this game and has yet to pick it back up. But, back to other things, the gunplay was good, could do with more variety; but it was good nonetheless. I liked the rpg system, it was simple, but I enjoyed grinding to "perfect" the character to my playing style. I enjoyed the random loot in this game, but once again, it could be more varied; if you played as much as me, then at one point you've seen all the "legendary" weapons variations there is. This game also does a great job in making you feel like you're in control, when in reality you're not (the ending is proof, for me it is anyways). To end, it's a great game for grinding and exploring/ looting, but it could be way better than what it is. Expand

    Great game but less great than fallout 3. Everything feels the same while not being as memorable when it was first experienced in fallout 3. There's less memorable encounters in that one and the world often feels empty.

    The game is VERY addicting though.

    Like everyone else I looked forward to this game, and going through a dry spell of decent RPG's, Fallout 4(F4) was the light at the end of the tunnel - although, yes, the game itself has many redeeming qualities, the intense immersive gameplay the previous fallout games possessed show how lackluster F4 is.

    Here's what you'll enjoy:
    - More of the F4 world
    - New base building
    - Interesting new equipment mechanics
    - New and interesting perks
    - More action and fighting focus

    Here's what you may dislike:
    - Dated graphics engine
    - A reliance of mod community to clean up some of the graphics, fix power suit balances, and essentially rely on the community to refine the game.
    - Shallow characters and stilted dialogue
    - More action and fighting focus

    You might be wondering why I give it a 6, because honestly it is not a bad game, the controls and FPS component feel more refined, the world appears to be well detailed, the seed community's allowing players to build a town is a great idea, and the atmosphere of F3 is still present. What F4 is missing, imo, is character.

    The dialogue is terrible, you obtain equipment far to easily, and have access to the power suit quite early on. The beginning of F4 is painstakingly boring (for me), and I [spoiler] before we really get to enjoy our family or create a bond they are ripped away - I don't know them enough to care....

    Suggestions:
    - Give the player a powersuit but have it break after using it the first time; the player is given time to VALUE the immense power of the suit, so that they work towards it's repair. Create value for players so they see the need to use the suit and how important it is.
    - Spend more time with your family or don't make the story about your family if you can only attribute 10 minutes of gameplay to them. Perhaps make it about your family, but cryogenic damage has caused memory loss, or someone has implanted memories that were never there....give me a reason to care Bethesda....give us a unique story....

    I feel my gripe lies heavily in what feels like an unpolished gem, that will only get better once the modding community and DLC for the game comes out. The game is fine, playable, but by no means GOTY quality, or has the same enjoyable traits as F3; but I can't ignore the fact that it does a "good" job, and not a "great" job. So if you like the Fallout world and want more of the same-ish, add it to you list. If you were expecting something different, innovative, and there to create RPG memories, it just didn't draw me in like the previous Fallout's have.

    Fallout 4 has updated gameplay aspects in nearly all respects! The RPG elements of the game have never been as apparent. The crafting system works well and allows you to craft guns and armor. You can also grow your own settlements, where you can build a plethora of buildings and crafting stations. All of the crafting is created by the amount of junk found in the Commonwealth. Particular items need specific parts in order to be created. Gunplay has improved dramatically with an updated V.A.T.S system that is far more aesthetically pleasing than previous installments. Enemy encounters are a bit more challenging with the introduction of "legendary" enemies, who are far stronger than normal enemies. The companion system has also been improved and they will react positively or negatively depending on the players' actions throughout the adventure. Although there have been many improvements, there have been a few questionable decisions in the game. The inclusion of only 4 factions makes the game feel closed off, especially since 3 of the factions directly impact the storyline. The absence of the karma system from New Vegas is noticeable. Although there were many improvements, the quest system has remained stagnant and wasn't improved upon.

    Story:
    The player character is alive in October 2077, right before the nuclear bombs are dropped, ending civilization as they know it. However, the character and their family, head into vault 111, where a test is secretly being held amongst the vault dwellers.

    Graphics:
    Fallout 4's graphics are serviceable, but Bethesda should applauded for their impressive lighting and attention to detail. Critics who claim the series' graphics are terrible are people who have never played any installment in the series or know what the series is truly about. The Creation engine has definitely provided Fallout with an updated aesthetic.

    Verdict:
    Fallout 4 is a must-play game for any fan of the western RPG. Veterans of the series will be glad to know that there have been many improvements in gameplay. Any new player to the series would be introduced to the most improved installment in the series. I highly recommend this game!

    Solid game, great replay value, addictive and fun. Ideal for people who can't really aim with a controller and still want to kick some asses.

    Compared to other franchises, Fallout does well, the whole settlement building changes the game a lot and gives importance to looting, and you know you love looting everything. Every little cup of coffee has a use (other than selling it for ammo),

    Great replay value too, the map is not huge but big enough to allow yourself some discoveries in each gameplay. The perks are game changers too, you can be full barbarian or an intellectual sarcastic b****, solve quests differently, join different factions.. the usual Fallout stuff

    Only 8/10 because of the glitches, bugs, mainly in settlements, trade routes not working properly, and for a very short and predictable main quest.

    Still 8/10 because I've spent hours on this (half of it building walls and plants for no reason). The radioactive sea (southwest) is remarkable, for the rest, it's the usual wasteland and ruined cities, like it or not.

    Now, don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game, it's pretty fun and has some nice new integrations, such as the base-building elements, the better followers/companions system and better shooting mechanics. The positives don't outweigh the negatives though, such as the pretty bad framerate drops on console, dropping to 20FPS occasionally when the game gets really hectic, the fairly dated graphics and the obviously aged engine that Bethesda insists is vital to make the game run better. (F*ck the Gamebryo engine)

    The story in the game is one of the most lackluster tales Bethesda have ever told and although most people don't come to Fallout for the story, it still should be noted on for people who were expecting something of high production value.

    I've clocked around 9 to 10 hours in the game so far and although some of the time has been incredibly fun, such as encountering the new Ghouls for the first time, finding Dogmeat and hearing Codsworth saying 'Batty', my in-game character's name, these were all fun times but the novelty of all of these wore off quickly.

    I wish I could say better things about the game but it's just such an average run of the mill game that I can't find many merits to say about the game.

    Dialogue wheel is a big let down, voiced protagonist was a mistake, quests are boring or repetitive. World is interesting and the more realistic difficulty are both pluses though.

    Pretty disappointing, a bit bummed they could not differeniate it a bit more, honestly felt like a graphically improved fallout 3, appreciated the use of colors but they aren't enough... to me there's just not enough in the game.

    for me it started the moment my characters child was kidnapped. now SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT your child will be deeply involved with one of the factions in the wasteland . and this moves on from my main point, the point being that in all the other games the mguffin (water chip, G.E.C.K, son) is only tangentially involved with the factions and overarching plot and with the main character themselves. in this game it is deeply involved.

    this really damages investment in the character and the world as well as immersion the reason being that the character feels less like your own and more like one scripted by the developers. now in most games this is okay as they are relatively linear and you are very obviously being a character whereas in fallout its massively open and you are supposed to act more like yourself and you can't do that in this game because they already have their own idea of a character in mind and script his reactions and dialog to fit it.

    now i'm not going to review gameplay because its enjoyable if you like fallout,and i,m not going to review graphics because for the most part i don't care, anything past oblivion graphics is fine with me so long as its fairly fun

    I do not take pride in handing out 10/10s, but I will have to do it for Fallout 4. I played for about 100 hours so I feel confident in my assessment of the game. I honestly had trouble turning the game off. I lost several entire weekends playing the game, and accidentally played it all the way through the night until morning once... and I'm an adult, I don't have time for that! It is thatI do not take pride in handing out 10/10s, but I will have to do it for Fallout 4. I played for about 100 hours so I feel confident in my assessment of the game. I honestly had trouble turning the game off. I lost several entire weekends playing the game, and accidentally played it all the way through the night until morning once... and I'm an adult, I don't have time for that! It is that good though. I prefer to use the VATs combat system primarily, and even 100 hours into the game, every slow motion kill is still extremely satisfying. I became really invested in the settlement building aspect of the game as well, and felt a great sense of pride in the communities that I created in my personal version of the Commonwealth. I didn't run into any gamebreaking bugs like some players seem to have. All of that being said; for a person that has adequate time to play, I strongly recommend. Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The announcement left me pregnant with anticipation, the official trailer left me shocked. This looked nothing like the Capital Waste, it was saturated with color, breathing and living, and touched on that curious ‘before the war’ which I had always imagined. I didn’t know how I felt, like trying a new dish at one’s favorite restaurant; but I did know regardless of my reaction to that ad (of which was negative at first), I would be that person standing in line for the midnight release. And I was, no thanks to Best Buy’s poor customer service, XBOX one in one heavy hand, and the wrapped cover to this adventure in the other.
    Where to start? Is it worth it, most definitely; though I can’t imagine a Fallout game from here forward ever not being at least worth it. But it was not without its flaws, and let me tell you firsthand, those flaws were not few, and the list only continued to grow into a somewhat disappointing conclusion.
    After tangling with setting-up this console and downloading the game (I am a technology peasant), and confused but entertained by that starting “S.P.E.C.I.A.L.” presentation, this game opened up into perhaps the most dramatic, scene setting intro I have ever seen (with the nice included touch of real people, no doubt modeled off of the Halo franchise’s earlier incorporation). I was shocked, and as soon as the actual gameplay started I was faced (literally and figuratively) with what the commercial had demonstrated. It was amazing, and this pre-war world was fascinating, if only for the ten whole minutes lasts.
    And here’s where my quarrels start, and at that start to pile up (spoilers ahead, and I played as a male).
    Why was my wife shot? For resisting? Yeah that’s hard to swallow, dramatic I figure, but one could have just has easily punched her or forced the baby from her hands. Something that would make much more sense (going into the story later) when the Institute claimed they wanted to preserve a ‘backup’ with similar biological characteristics to ‘Shaun’ (uncanny name by the way). By the way, why does the ‘sole survivor’ describe his/her ‘missing child’ in the waste as ‘Shaun?’ Obviously no-one would recognize that name, least of which the baby which was taken. But alright.
    So I get out of the cryogenic storage (love the environment and exit sequence by the way) and am shocked to hear that I had been in there for two hundred years. Then that was it. This was the ONLY instance of his shock in the entire game. After that, he’s just a pro. Yeah this is the wasteland and he knows it like the back of his hand. Monstrously huge animals, insects and ‘Super Mutants,” no shock here. Moving on.
    That first quest with the minute men, horribly confusing at first. Just some random voice screaming from somewhere to grab some unknown laser rifle (which I couldn’t find by the way), pleading for help. So I help him, quite effectively at that (which makes sense since I was in the military), but their big ‘plan’ was to get a cool sounding fusion core and so on. Okay, two things. Why is their mechanic absolutely jacked (what is this Gears of War?) and yet nonetheless cowardly. Additionally, if they had been camped out there for several days, why couldn’t anyone get this from the basement? Yeah it was stuck behind a novice lock that requires no skill, but in any case this is a very porous mini-plot. And this trend continued in almost every major quest in the game (so I will only mention a couple going forward).
    So taking a pause from this, why was I totally immersed from the start of the game? Why was there no transition period into crafting and settlements? Why did armor (at least that which would be effective) only come in pieces? At first I thought the designers were trying to ease me into a game which had the option of multiple pieces (vs. harder to get single sets) but then I realized, really the single-set armor wear was being phased out… which I prefer to the tacky, to frequent, difficult to differentiate without first looting (and subsequently hard to keep track of, and unpleasant to look at in inventory) armor pieces. This is another thing… why does every single piece and every single weapon have a dozen different variations; and from the start too?! I LOVE the idea of weapon modification, but it should not dropped with said mods, this is too complicated and terribly challenging to keep track of, and instead the mod skill should be assumed as taken up (as is already almost entirely necessary for a competitive character). Further, this should not be necessary for early ‘pipe’ weapons, those should only have one ‘base form,’ (legendary aside) as they are already going to be phased out by the time the player functionally knows how to mod (at that point better weapons, and by the way it should be a three level mod system, the fourth level [only obtainable at level 39] should be removed and incorporated into third).

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a continued review (from mabusaif), and I will skip forward in order to prioritize… though the largest repeating issues I addressed: the lack of dynamism in characters, dialogue, game-play and plot.
    So as for the main story... I wrote earlier that I have only just finished my first gameplay (though all gameplays end the same). I sided with the Institute: the shadowy place every player passes through and so hopefully everyone can relate to its porous nature. It wasn’t the strange leap of faith one had to take in the Chemed up old lady (Mama Murphy) who could see into the future in the start, it wasn’t that the main detective helping you, a synth, never offered a clear reason as to why he was not reclaimed, or that following the freedom trail (or even finding where it started, because it didn’t show on the map) was difficult and confusing, it’s just that the whole tale was farfetched to the point of fairy tale, and hard to swallow. I had to kill a man who himself turns out to be over a hundred years old, live through his memory (where by the way it describes seeing my ten year old son in Diamond City as a ‘recent memory.’), find a scientist self-made Super Mutant (with no good explanation as to why a courser never pursued him, because they are after all immune to radiation) to get a schematic that a nobody-mechanic could make into a transportation device (What?!) to get into an underground place where I find my son (who treats me like an experiment and toys with me from the start), who by the way is unguarded, trusting and glad to meet me despite not helping even in the slightest along the way, oh and by the way he’s sixty years of age (something I had figured would be the case from the start, because I was put into cryo and I constantly wondered about the lack of consideration for time lapse, but that aside) and on top of it he is the leader of this shadowy organization! The audacity of this story to presume so many variables as ‘leaps of faith.’ And the unpatched things along the way, unbelievable! The Railroad is displayed as some weak hidden underground organization, but then at Bunker Hill has masses of tough-well armed foot soldiers. The Brotherhood who’s quest-line is tasteless and who’s only presence in the waste is constantly getting vertibirds shot down. The Minutemen who suddenly have a strong following (in defense of the one scientist) some way into the Institute’s main quest-line. The Institute which is so cautious and self-reliant but has near complete dependence on a single man (well two if you count the sole survivor). All these matters could have easily been smoothed out or over, and I begin to question whether anyone’s input was ever gained on the final product before its release. For example Diamond City radio, did anyone ever listen to it for hours (before finishing the confidence quest line) to hear how absolutely unpleasant it is to listen to Tyler’s announcements day in and out. Was that really worth the one side quest, which by the way is unlikely to accidentally stumble upon? Did anyone consider that most of the players of this game would still be familiar without the Fallout 3 playlist, and that creating a mix primarily composed of Fallout 3 songs and cliché rocket, radiation and fallout songs was not up to par with the incredible model the Fallout 3 playlist set up?
    Wasted opportunities scattered throughout this wasteland of a Commonwealth, and which literally wasted what could have been an otherwise flawlessly integrative wasteland experience. While enjoyable, nonetheless, it was not without its flaws. I am simply saying that these could have easily been rectified; and that in future development, the developers should look to similar blogs, bloggers, and fans for advice on the game’s development. Because these opinions are not isolated, and they are undoubtedly reflective of greater trends (I for instance have received similar reactions from a whole host of friends, at least a dozen, both immediately and over the course of their gameplay). I am already eager to see what Bethesda does with the for-coming expansions, which have historically been great and less prone to porous plots due to their brevity. And like any other fan, I am already ready for the next game in the series, but likewise I’m ready to stop playing this one already. And if this would have grabbed me by the throat, or hit me on the head like a swatter, I wouldn’t be so quickly willing to walk away from my character. While war never changes, I hope the capacity of these game designers to seek and respond to input does. Because the story and experience equally matter, and anyone who has ever played Fallout through knows that the term ‘game’ does no justice to the lore and lure it embodies. I am here, as are the scores of my peers… and while the endurance of Fallout is unquestioned, as Bethesda continues to design it with strength, the perception of players merits thought.

    It was hard for me to rate this game because I was stuck between a 7 and 8. The overall experience was an 8 but there were various bugs and issues with the game that ended up causing me to downgrade it to a 7. To state it up front I am not a huge fan of 1st person RPG games so at first I wasn't to thrilled but until I found out you can play the game in 3rd person. The problem with 3rdIt was hard for me to rate this game because I was stuck between a 7 and 8. To state it up front I am not a huge fan of 1st person RPG games so at first I wasn't to thrilled but until I found out you can play the game in 3rd person. The problem with 3rd person is you quickly realize how it was put in as an after thought rather than an alternative way to play the game. Trying to pick items up and open certain drawers in 3rd person is extremely frustrating. In addition aiming your gun in 3rd person is extremely clunky. I found my self going between 3rd and 1st person very often just to get certain tasks accomplished.

    Now to get into the actual overall game. I very much liked and enjoyed the Vats system especially since I enjoyed using pistols throughout the entire campaign. It added a layer of strategy to the more than regular gun battles you do throughout the game. The game's PIPBOY interface menu left a lot to be desired it was very clunky to navigate and get used to. Navigating the games menu to get to different categories equipping gear was all very clunky and took time to get used to. The PIPBOY map was another thing that left a lot to be desired. This leads me to inventory management which is a nightmare in this game. Managing all your inventory armors, weapons, junk, and so forth. Is very tedious I found myself many times accidently depositing currently equipped armor and weapons into storage and then having to go through storage to find the weapons that I was using. Overall inventory and game menus really lacked a lot of refinement and seemed rushed.

    The game world left a lot to be desired also character and NPC interactions were bland and boring. Conversation choices really had no affect on your game play / story. The world seems very lifeless enemy interactions were predictable. Enemy variety felt lacking you go from fighting Ghouls, Mutants, Synths, and Raiders over and over. And becomes very mundane and boring. There are no exciting boss battles or "OH NO!" moments. The only time anything stuck in my head was the Witchcraft museum and the lake Swan. Only moments were I said to my self "Oh Damn! Run". There is a severe lack of boss fights in this game. You get thrown in right from the start and have to fight one of the toughest creatures in the game but after that everything else seems just go through and kill XYZ.

    The games story also is very convoluted with no sense of urgency overall. Half way through the game I didn't even remember what my main objective would be. Is it taking down the institute for the greater good of the commonwealth or hunting down my son's kidnapper / wife's killer. It is easy to get side tracked from the main plot and story line and there really isn't anything that brings you back to say "Hey don't forget some one took your son and kidnapped your wife!". I did towards the end of the game find myself getting more involved in the actual story as I got closer and closer to beating the game.

    Now what really did keep me playing the game was my OCD of completionism. Finding every magazine, bobblehead, weapon, and armor.... This is where I have to give the game the low rating and is what made this part less than a 7 for me maybe more of a 5. It's not until you try to go through and find everything that you start getting into the bugs affecting this game. The benevolent leader trophy has the be the most annoying thing since it makes no sense and provides no guidance. I was forced to build 5-6 hospitals for a village for 15 people just so I could get people in my settlement happy. I know this isn't how Bethesda intended this trophy / achievement to work. Literally building a house with 20+ beds just to keep the happiness up. Whether this I how its meant to be or a bug this really takes away from playing the game how you want it to be played. The other part that annoyed me then and now is the Vault 75 bobblehead doll which is bugged. The problem here is that now that the NPC won't spawn there is no way to get him to respawn or even to have the whole area reset / respawn. I am force to have to start over the game from the beginning which I refuse to do.

    This game has a lot of ups and downs but it was a fun experience for me which I enjoyed going through once and would most likely not go back and play it over again from the beginning. The bugs is really what kept me from giving this game an 8.

While I do understand that this is a survival game that leaves much to do for the player, I was having trouble getting a footing. In Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, the start of the game was very accommodating. Fallout 3 was among the easiest, with Megaton being a very good "base" ofFallout 4: a game that came, for me, with mixed emotions. After playing for an hour, I felt unfulfilled. However, in Fallout 4, the start is more challenging. One of the very first missions requires you to fight through a building of raiders, fight them once from the roof, then descend to the ground to duel with a Deathclaw. You are given power armor and a minigun, some will find that fighting through the aforementioned raiders will deplete ammo quickly.

    However, after this "hit the ground running" introduction, the game begins to pick up speed. While some may find the settlement mission(s) for the Minutemen boring, I find it an interesting mechanic that shapes the game. Fallout has been a series built around moving. The Lone Wanderer roams D.C. to find his father. The Courier journeys the Mojave to find his attacker. However, the Sole Survivor now has the choice to stay at home or roam. It's a creative way to shape this game.

    Now, on to the factions. The Railroad are whiny, the Brotherhood are old, and the Institute are borderline cult-like. But the Minutemen are different. They are the last light for a decaying world. The Commonwealth is dangerous, and if I were to pick the new government, the Minutemen would be an obvious choice. They are guided by morality and want the best for all creatures, wether robotic or human.

    Of course, most of the game was very good, exceptional really. The story was decent. I didn't feel there was much room to divulge from the main storyline. It felt on track, with a bit of freedom in small, uneven pockets. The graphics, I felt, aren't what they could be for next-gen consoles. While it was colorful, it felt plastic. Most of the companions weren't worth bringing along. I got over encumbered too quickly and found myself dropping too many items.

    The game was okay. I liked 40% of it. The other 60%, I would have done differently. It looked like Fallout. It smelled like Fallout. But it wasn't Fallout. It was a post-apocalyptic shooter with elements of GTA, CoD, and the bad parts of Skyrim.

    And nothing that I cleared out would stay clear!!!! Why travel the map clearing anything if you're just going to be sent to the same spot and do the same thing?!

    Combat was fine, graphics were not incredible, but great graphics don't make a great game. Engaging content makes a game great, and that is what Fallout 4 does not have.

That's good for me. I believe that if you're making a sequel you should keep the good mechanics of its predecessor and build upon them. After finishing the first major story quest an elderly woman mentions the words "Diamond City" to me so I brush it off as the location I will eventually get to by following the main quest line. Five hours and a bunch of quests later something hits me: that vague hint was the main quest wasn't it... The game had me believe that for the past five hours I was doing repetitive familiar quests over and over again with the hope of progressing the game's some what at this point unknown plot. The reason why this annoyed me was due to the previous entries making clear what was a main quest and what wasn't. With the full intention of finding out what the hell I should do I journeyed to Diamond City to find some plot. My instincts were right and from that point onwards the plot never slows down again. This is unfortunate as the tone and general urgent feel of each main quest I began to ignore the side quests. In the end the plot was okay but nothing spectacular. They try to pull of too many plot twists towards the end that make earlier plot points seem pointless to have.

    Side quests...oh boy the side quests. This game boasts at how much you can do and how alive the world is as each NPC has their own little story you can get involved with. Unfortunately the creative team must have only worked on the main quests as around 75% of the side quests are rinse and repeat the same. I especially find the Minute Men almost pointless to help if it wasn't for the big faction war Fallout games have at the end of them. The new mechanics are mainly for the Minute Men quests which I got bored of fast so they were pointless for me. What made this worse was the fact that other mechanics were taken out making this seem like a waist of time. Things that helped so much like the repair mechanic have been removed and instead I have 7 10mm guns in my inventory taking up space. Making matters worse Fallout's currency becomes pointless in this. I don't remember one time I had to buy anything in the game because everyone kept handing me crap. The power armour is another complaint of mine as I only had to use it twice during mandatory points I needed them: 1. when I got it 2. when I walked into the Green Sea (covered in radiation).
    Besides from this I completely abandoned it with power cores building in my inventory and no desire to use them.

    NPCs in this game are a joy to talk to with the voice acting and AI being on point for the most of it (even though I mainly use them as body shields). Fan and personal favourite Piper has been a fun companion and rivals Serena of Skyrim and Veronica of New Vegas. Didn't like the single companion capability when previous entries had around 3 companions at a time.

    Rounding it all off with the graphics and scenery: the graphics are beautiful but at times seem waisted on a forgettable bland and mix of the settings from Fallout 3 and New Vegas. You will have the occasional moment where you want to just stop and stare but with those moments far between I never bothered to remember most of the locations. A highlight for me was the Brotherhood's airship appearing

Warning; you will be addicted. The Bethesda way of sucking you into the game-play and not letting go is very real. But realize also you will be giddy with gaming fulfillment.     I love this game. This game is as addicting as Super Mario Bros. was back in 1985. This is the real Fallout 4. The only thing I must say is when you create your character, stay with your character.

    Fallout 4 is one of the "must play" games of PS4 it is a fact but it can be better.

    the game is amazing...a very original, funny and...sad story. there are a lot of interesting easter eggs, for example the UFO near a farm. the graphic is not very good, but the story is the best part of the game. GOTY!

    I first played the original Fallout in 1997 and it's my favorite game of all time. I still play it about once a year, because you can complete it as fast as you want to, and it offers many different approaches to gameplay. The same basic principle applies to Fallout 4 - you can rush through the main story or you can take your time and just wander the wasteland and build settlements. The main story of Fallout 4 is perfectly decent, but I would not call it exceptional. It's short enough and doesn't get in the way when you want to do other things in the game.
    Some people complain that Fallout 4 is more dumbed down RPG-wise compared to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I find the simplifications welcome and I consider Fallout 4 to inspire an atmosphere that is much closer to the original Fallout, which Fallout 3 and New Vegas failed to do in my opinion. Removing skills and replacing them with perks may seem like a simplification, but in reality it expands the possible approaches to gameplay, because the perk tree is massive, and this wide array of gameplay style options is in the spirit of the original Fallout.
    To finish, I would like to say a few words about settlement construction. If this is not your cup of tea, you can skip it and enjoy the game just the same. I created one massive fortress around Sanctuary Hills and a few minor outposts around the wasteland. Now that I completed the game, I can roam the wastes eliminating mutants and raiders, and visit my comrades in arms along the way. It really creates a great recipe for immersion. Overall, I would say that I spent 20% of my time on the story, 40% on settlement building and 40% on sidequests and just wandering the wasteland. Through all the years, I considered the first Fallout to be the best game ever, but the only thing that I wished I could do after “saving the world” was to put all of my massive weapons stockpile to good use, establish my own militia and be a force for progress in the wasteland. Well, now you can do that in Fallout 4. Get this game if you haven't yet. You can play it for 20 or 200 hours before you are done with it, the freedom of choice is yours.

    Fallout 4 leans to the Shooting side of things. It strips down the gameplay from the actual RPG elements and offers a meta-nuclaer shooting gallery which of course keep its charm and gameplay wealth but also feels a little too friendly for the new comers. The Base builder mode is unnecessary, boring and irritating. Unfortunately, overall, there are no steps forward for this Nuclear Holocaust Behemoth of the video games industry. Only steps sideways.
