This is one of david cages best work. The game and graphics are beyond sublime. Bio-ware can go learn a thing or two from Quantic dream on character rendering and animation. The story to me was phenomenal and i frankly will replay this game two or three times on consecutive weekends to see its depth and the resultant of my choices, moral quandary and dilemmas posed in choice.

I really don't tend to like games like this. I did not care for Heavy Rain, and I do not really enjoy playing the Tell Tale games, but this game is freaking outstanding. They nailed it with making a great story with tons of decisions that actually matter, and shape the story. I do want to go back and play it again but it does seem like somewhat of a chore to play through another time.

Detroit: Become Human is the best experience that Quantic Dream has given us.

The questions and conversations work perfectly, in the change, the moments of exploration, due to their cinematic nature, they have problems with the camera. It will not take you out of the game or anything like that, but it's annoying.
    Decisions here do matter.

The game is very close to perfect, both technically and regarding the story.

There are RTS, RPGs, sim games, FPS and so on. And there are interactive storytelling games like those made by Telltale or games like Life is Strange. And this is what Quantic Dream does. And they do it with a AAA budget offering an interactive story experience that really is next level. Yes there are games that offer a great story, great gameplay. Vast world to explore and so on. Games like The Witcher 3, Last Of Us or God Of War. Story wise, none of these games is behind any interactive story game like Detroit. But they are different experiences. Detroit is a build your own movie kind of game. And by nature, because the player isn't focused on leveling up, you pay more attention to the story, And what a story Detroit has. Yes, we've seen elements of it in other movies, games, tv shows, but Detroit really does a great job giving light to the challenges of a future where automation takes over most jobs. Of the issues we humans have acknowledging cultural shifts and accepting new rules. Accepting something that is different from what we are used to. Our history shows that most of us don't like change. But our biggest conquests come from the unwillingness of the few to accept the status quo. Detroit titles says it all. This game probably deserves a 10/10, but I will not induldge in every aspect of the title by playing it several times. Therefor I have to rate it from my point of view: 9/10.

The amount of work that must have gone into Detroit: Become Human must have been enormous! It looks spectacular! And for the first time I underastand and quite enjoy what David Cage is going for with his projects.

It looks spectacular! And for the first time I underastand and quite enjoy what David Cage is going for with his projects. I own his prior two games via PS Plus, but I never wanted to play them. I dislike the controls. I still do. But I don't mind them in this game, at least.

The stories told about the characters which drive these stories are so gripping and so human that you really want to play this title in one playthrough. To fully engage with these chareacters ... every little thing you do or don't do has real and long lasting consequences like I have never experienced it in another game before!
On top of that, Detroit: Become Human has many branching paths for each of the three character stories which also heavily crossover and intertwine with eachother. So, there are a lot of permutations to enjoy. But not just for a different ending but a completely different playing experience.

I am really looking forward to what this studio will be doing with the hardware of the Playstation 5!

I'm quite struggling to call Detroit a game. It's a choose-your-adventure style interactive movie. There are so many choices to make which change the story as you go and result in one of many endings. It's overwhelming at times, but fortunately you have a handy flowchart available which you can view after you finish a chapter. The chart clearly shows where the path splits and makes it easier for you to unlock alternate routes. I was actually quite blown away by how much your choices matter. A little detail I learned in one of the first chapters saved my life in the story's finale. One of the main characters can make choices that will massively affect the other two leads and completely change the outcome of your story. It's much deeper than your usual Telltale Games experience.

The characters are all very likeable and relatable, each of them in a completely different way. Connor is an android investigator who hunts down other androids and has to deal with the resulting moral dilemma of betraying his own species. Markus is a caretaker android who had it all before hitting rock bottom and rising again to become something more. And finally Kara, a housekeeper/nanny android who's accompanied by a little girl named Alice whom she desperately wants to keep out of a harm's way. You play as all these characters, switching between them periodically. In the beginning their stories are quite separate, but they all merge in the end in various ways. I can't say much about the story without spoiling it and ruining your experience, but know that it deals with racism and borrows many elements from the Civil Rights Movement in America and the WW2 Holocaust. It does so in subtle ways, though, so it's no obnoxious SJW propaganda.

Gameplay wise, it's just one massive quick time event. Right analogue stick is for movement, left for interaction, the rest of the controller for QTEs. All these buttons are pretty much just a glorified "play" button, but it works just fine for an interactive movie. One odd thing I have to mention is: you have to press the R2 button in a very specific way (press down the upper half of it, don't pull the trigger like you normally would), otherwise it doesn't register. It took me forever to figure out why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't until I realized this. It's one of the weirdest quirks I've seen in any game I've ever played. I even thought my controller was broken, but it works just fine when I play God of War so it's definitely the game.

The graphics are great, though there were a few issues with textures popping in late and once there was some minor clipping in an NPC's face. Likewise, the soundtrack is fantastic and sets the mood nicely. The facial animation tech is one of the best I've seen, but that's to be expected from an interactive movie.

This is one of the rare cases where an interactive movie is actually worth replaying. There are quite substantial parts of the story you may never even see depending on the choices you make. There are even entire locations you may never visit. The story even affects the AI on the main menu screen, which was quite unique and definitely a nice touch. When I came back after a late night gaming session, the AI commented on me staying up late last night and said she hoped I wasn't too tired today. If you stay on the main menu screen for a while, she offers trivia on the city of Detroit, comments on your interior decor, and other fun stuff.

Detroit is definitely one of the best interactive movie games out there, and the best QD game to date. After the abomination that was Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit, and the disappointment that was Beyond Two Souls, I just can't praise Detroit enough. With a main story that's about 10 hours long and that has quite a lot of replay value thanks to its complex branching path and multiple endings, it's definitely worth several playthroughs.

Over time the life of luxury having androids to everything, a divide arises in society.
Human workers are replaced by synthetic life. People turn on their androids claiming they are just fake life and computer programs. They believe the androids are soulless and hold zero value to synthetic life. Till eventually an android breaks from his coding, killing his abusive owner and running away. Creating the first “Deviant” and the first free will android.

Detroit Become Human has you live and play through three different arching storylines that have their own unique challenges and life decisions. More along the lines of an interactive movie, Detroit Become Human involves the player to really shape the outcome of the game. Every choice you make will change how people interact with your character and the ultimate climax of the story.

Bouncing between the three main characters of Kara, Connor and Markus; You witness how the world treats androids and how more of them are becoming deviant. Dealing with free will, if a machine can have feelings, or if a program life of an android can really be alive. Will androids submit to their programming and remain property and slaves to their owners? Will you push forward to break the cycle and fight for equal rights? How far will you go to protect another life?

I absolutely loved playing through this game. So much so I debated doing a second run to see how the story would change with different decisions but I really don’t want to change what I experienced. There are big moments and situations that are shocking. Sometimes making me pause the game after a chapter to really digest what happened. I think I’ve convinced Ciara to play so I can watch her story unfold in a different way with the choices she makes.

When you play the story you really get attached to their characters and sympathize with their motives. The game also delivers a great soundtrack to imerse you in the moment. In the end it is YOUR story that pushes the pace of the game every decision you make matters. Which multiples the DBH's replay value as the choices you make will decide the faith of your characters and the road they will follow. DBH deals with heavy themes that society either shy's away from or tries to ignore instead Detroit purposefully fuses these themes with it's main story to create an emotional roller coaster in some of the scenarios you will play. I myself never played Heavy Rain thinking that the type of gameplay mechanics wasn't for me. A few years later I picked this up on PS+ and I couldn't put it down a game I thought would quickly bore me kept me hooked on and I wasn't satisfied until I reached the end. The story might contain plotholes and miss oppurtunities here and there, it still is innovative in comparison to 95% of the games that were released over the last years. The emotional and immersive depths that really drives the pulse when it comes to making decisions is outstanding and thus a 10/10+ for me.

The graphics are stunning, although the engine is facing minor fps drops at times on a PS4 Pro with SSD. This is only on very few scenes but still notable. I d rate this a solid 9/10.

The controls are okay. Some QTEs are very fast and probably not nice for casuals. Also some triple button combinations are pretty strange. Combined with: pressing button, holding button or sliding the pad is sometimes confusing. When it decides about life or death it feels frustrating at times. This is at most a 6/10 for me as QTEs in general are somewhat sub-par to other game elements. Another thing to note is the VERY slow walking pace that drove me nuts at times.

Replayability is between 0/10 and 10/10. Now this is an interesting one. Detroit is really huge when it comes to decision paths and replayability. This also covers completely new scenes and actions. On the other hand you need to replay many parts at times where you cannot even skip the cutscenes. This is absolutely stupid and not understandable at all. I was tempted to 100% it but I probablly will skip this endeavour. Also some decisions might seem game changers but then they are not. Dead androids sometimes come back, some endings still do not change at all. It is a bit weird and probably reducing the complexity to more meaningful choices and a better system would ve helped a lot. The story wants me to replay, the system does not. It is a sad 4/10 for me.

After all this game is absolutely worth a buy at a discounted price tag. The game has an emotional immersion that is amazing. Sometimes it feels so hard to make decisions or side with or against persons. I personally did like the story a lot. The characters are cool and touching with small deficits. I was wondering a little bit that they let the chance of DLCs pass. I think the story lines could ve been pushed even further maybe Quantic decides to go on Detroit 2 somewhen but I personally doubt it.

The reviews average point is 79 but i think that game deserves more than that. Even the Beyond crap has 72 avarage. So I believe that game deserves 10/10 because it's the best game in its category.

An excellent, smart, emotional and clever game. This boost my hope for games that have a strong agenda and able to keep you intrigued with a profound story, rather than the usual hack'n'slash. I hope to see more of this from Quantic Dream.

Detroit has both good and bad stuff.
    The good:
    - Everything about the visuals. The game is gorgeous, the design is great, but what I liked most was how much care went into creating different universes for the three main protagonists.
    - Everything sound related. The soundtracks are amazing (especially Kara's). The sound design is overall great as well - you can tell that a lot of effort went into it.
    - The large amount of choices that actually have consequences. Some choices' consequences are very obvious - will you make Connor a deviant, or will he remain a machine? Will Markus lead the android revolution peacefully or violently? But on the other hand, a lot of choices also have minute consequences that can end up being significant. For example, maybe you want Connor to get to a specific place to pursue his mission. But maybe you don't want him to go, because it would impact another character. Maybe Kara's experience of the world will change based on the decisions you make with the two other characters. The existence of the flowchart, which allows you to see which possibilities you've unlocked, but also how many remain hidden, compels you to play again and again to find new outcomes.
    - The game knows what you want to do, and will let you do a lot of it. I remember many times where I was in a chase and I would think "what about this thing? can I use it?" In other games I've played, the answer would more often than not be "no". But in Detroit, I was surprised by how often the answer ended up being "yes". Not only do the choices have consequences - they are also numerous and the game will really reward you for going back and checking out areas or possibilities you didn't try at first.
    - The acting is overall good to great. All of the main cast is incredibly convincing and manages to get you invested in the characters. There may be one or two performances that aren't as solid, but the others more than make up for it. I have to point out Cornelius Smith Jr and Dana Gourrier's performances. Since they aren't really part of the main cast, people tend to overlook them.
    - Fair QTEs. So this is very subjective, but I played on the "Experienced" difficulty and I felt like the QTEs were fair. Meaning some fights were easier, but if I wanted to pull a stunt where I wanted to save a character from a tight situation, the QTEs got harder, which makes sense.
    - Connor's investigation scenes and Markus' mid-game scenes. Those are as gameplay-like as the game gets, and they are SO. FUN.
    - The Crossroads chapter. The stakes. Gosh.
    - Some writing moments. I loved the dynamic between Connor and Hank. I ended up getting an ending with Kara that involves cold water (I'll leave it at that) and it really got to me - made me think of people who are stuck in that situation right now, and how nightmarish it must be. I feel like Detroit gets some scenes incredibly right - enough to keep you engaged, especially since you KNOW that those characters can get completely screwed up if you don't take the right decisions.

    The bad:
    - Some of the writing. Honestly, it comes out most in Markus' path. Some of the allusions in there are BLATANT, to the point where it's almost disrespectful...? There's no subtlety in his path - it feels like wish-fulfillment at times. I almost wish we didn't get a backstory for Markus. Because then he'd be this cool mysterious leader with piercing eyes and a knack for suspense-filled declarations. He felt much more impressive when I met him as other characters than when I played him. Also, the whole romance is flat, boring and unexpected. Markus and that character have 0 chemistry. It's not the actors' faults - the characters just don't go well together.
    - Some scenes are really over-the-top. Like Markus dramatically grabbing a coat that was just conveniently THERE. Come on, David Cage.
    - Controls are sometimes weird. Especially when walking. Or when walking and then trying to do an action.
    - There's a very essential element in Connor's investigation that never. gets. explained. It's Heavy Rain all over again except Heavy Rain was like that cause part of the game was cut. I don't mind if it's not addressed, but give me the means to find the answer. Even if it means reading every tiny little detail. I'll do it and I'll love it. But I want answers if it's a plot point.
    - This might seem like nitpicking but it's bugging me: the time is way off. The game is set in 2038 and that doesn't feel realistic - too soon. Also, the whole game happens in the span on something like a week, which is laughable. I wish all revolutions were this short.

With all that, I'll give Detroit and 8/10 because I've already completed two playthroughs and I'm not stopping. I love the universe, the characters and the multiple possibilities. Even if some scenes are weaker, I still feel compelled to play again. And even if I've played twice, I still manage to get characters killed - I still have to stay alert

This is how you do a multi-choice video game. So much of what you do can have an impact and change the outcome! It even shows you where some choice splits can happen at the end of each area!

This was definitely the highest quality product this studio has come out with yet, and in my opinion gave you the greatest connection to your characters than either game before it had. Going back to the Heavy Rain style of controlling multiple characters was an excellent call, and each of them were so dynamically different that I could never truly pick a favorite to play as because I equally loved them all. This game really made you feel like you were crafting the story of the game itself as opposed to just following the events and making choices, and this was backed with real threat levels like how early a lot of your characters can die if you're not careful. The story was just absolutely fantastic; so many emotions. Good feels, sad feels, moments of power, moments of weakness, and choices that were so difficult to make I had to pause and just lay back and think about them before making them. This game was more than I ever expected it could be, and I can't wait to add it to my list of Platinum titles. If you've played Heavy Rain, this game will feel like it's true successor. And if you haven't played Heavy Rain or Beyond Two Souls... well, you should haha. But that said, this game stands on it's own without either of the previous titles before it, and is a must play for all PS4 owners. I gave Heavy Rain a near perfect score, but Detroit Become Human surpassed that and became perfection. Expand

I wasn't going to rate the game this high, but I finished it last night and I am still thinking about it. I haven't done that since "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons." That must count for something.

"Detroit: Become Human" is a game I didn't even watch the trailer for - just got it through PS Plus a couple months ago, saw some of my other friends were playing it on their PS status, so I didn't know what to expect.

Through the course of the game, you control 3 separate android characters on separate story arcs that rotate fairly evenly in a story that takes place in near-future Detroit (November 2038). Each character wrestles with identity of self in different ways that tends to remain interesting throughout as their storylines slowly but inevitably converge.

If you've played the Batman: Telltale series games, D:BH is a lot like those in that you make choices that often impact the remainder of the game, which gives it the promise of satisfactory replayability.
Actions and posture choices also have a cumulative effect on secondary characters, where they can be neutral toward you, friendly, or hostile that open or close available pathways as you go.

There are also plenty of fights that require you to hit the right button, stick direction, or controller direction at the right time to either score or avoid a hit (the stick control recognition left a little to be desired - as did striking a button in time, but not counting it).

Unlike Batman: Telltale is the interface. You are often NOT in conversation with other characters (though you frequently are) and you are exploring the world around you. The storyline featuring Conner, the police android, actually feel more like Batman: Arkham Asylum's detective mode as you look for clues regarding yet another android who has become a "deviant," or in other words, has defied its programming and betrayed (and often killed) its human owner.

The game is a technical triumph. MOCAP captures are excellent, and they're especially noticeable on actors we know like Clancy Brown and Lance Henriksen. The music is ridiculously appropriate and immersive, and there is a constant atmosphere of danger no matter which character you're controlling. Markus' experience in the junkyard, Conner's first assignment with Hank, Kara's brief stay with drug addict Todd...those and more give the game a visceral feel and the sense that your choices are final. The "flowchart" that appears at the end of each chapter, showing which branches of the story you've unlocked, then throwing in the option to view the percentage of world players and percentage of your friends who went the same way you did is an extra bit of fun.

The game is good at creating pivotal moments where you know there will be no going back. Does Markus stage a peaceful protest or violent rebellion? Who can Kara truly trust? Should Conner pull the trigger in order to learn important intelligence, or should he refuse and lose the chance forever?

Interacting with the world is usually a lot of fun because you use almost the entire controller regularly (except the D-pad). You swipe things on the center touch panel, you use the right stick to unlock and interact with objects, and of course you use the 4 main buttons and 4 triggers to do other actions. I've always felt the touchpad was horrendously underused, so I like seeing it in play here.

The voice acting among leading and secondary characters is almost perfect. The lone exception is Bryan Dechart as Conner who sounds out of place in a cast who otherwise sounds completely natural (but apparently video game awards folk heard something else). For an advanced prototype, he sounds wooden. His character arc, however, is probably the most interesting of the three leads (Kara's is the least).

The load times between levels are great, so there is a virtually seamless flow. However, when you're in the "look-around" freeze-frame mode, the objectives don't stay up long enough. You usually have to punch the button again. Also, it seems that a few options were needlessly limited, and the game seems to have forgotten (at least in my game), that Kara should have had a gun to use at Jericho.

Anyone curious how my game went and don't care about spoilers, go ahead and continue:

Markus led a successful peaceful protest (he also didn't push Carl's son back), kissed North at the climax and made the people love androids and support their cause. (Fun fact: Minka Kelly - who played North - was also an actor in the short-lived Fox series "Almost Human," about a cop and an android partner).

I lost Conner twice (once in the kitchen of the TV station [called for Hank, kicked the chair...and literally nothing else to interact with until time ran out] and once when I failed at combat at Jericho...got shot), so I just went cold with him and let Hank go...but I didn't shoot Markus.

Kara didn't save Luther, got taken to a camp with Alice, but managed to escape.

I have played through the main story of Detroit: Become Human and all I can say is that this is one of the best narrative games I've played in the past years. The fact alone that you can actually see how your story is dynamically evolving through a flowchart which accompanies every episode makes this a must-play for everyone who likes AI or general dytopian near-future scenarios.

Detroit is less philosophic than drama, with very human androids, which was kind of a downer to me, but doesn't make it less of an awesome experience.
Things I didn't like, though, were the inconsistency with dialogue choices, which are often very vague and only described by 1-2 words. This led me to say things in-game that I never intended to. Also the quick-time-events (QTEs) often hinder game-flow and distract rather than compliment a (fight) scene. I would've also liked to explore a bit more, the "mode" that shows you everything that can be interacted with completely stops the game and you're often forced to go somewhere instead of just looking around. Something contextual, that signifies story-progress would've helped here.
Things I definitely liked, though, were the main menu (how boring that sounds), with an android who has insightful things to say when you boot up the game, but who also challenges your beliefs of androids as the game goes on. The characters in-game look terrifyingly beautiful, it's no Last of Us, but I think that Detroit is in my personal Top 5, when it comes to character animations and appearances. The story is actually branching, with several entrance or exit points being barred from you as you decide your way through the game, something I have never seen at this scale in a videogame before, maybe in some critically acclaimed RPGs, but not in this genre of videogame. Lastly, it made me feel a lot of different emotions, from grief, to happiness, to thrill, and beyond. I was enthralled with every scene, every (mis)step I took, especially when I swore to not kill anybody, but then saw myself with no choice after I was pressured.
This game is one of the best narrative games I've ever played. It has some weaknesses in its narrative, but the concept, design, and execution are just brilliant and should be an industry standard for AA - AAA games.

I came into the game thinking that it would all be ok even on expert mode.I loved the introduction to Connor his mission is challenging, and extremely dark because all endings have someone die I experienced all of them before I could save the kid. But I also love that if you try hard enough (not really) you can get so incredibly close with Lt.Anderson and learn so much because of him and being able to become a Deviant because of your relationship with him saving the Lt. Is totally worth it but you can die saving him.
Kara's story is more about knowing what to do and who to trust. I loved most of the good characters that Kara meets, Luthor Is such an amazing person and is so kind, and Alice while being picky was ok,I loved Rosa and how much she sacrifices. the theme park was one of the most beautiful parts of the story alongside Connors confrontation with Hank near the bridge ,and Markus' infamous painting secene or the death of his dad.
Markus' story was about choosing light or darkness, his companions show each side North Darkness,Josh Light, and Simon Neutral.
Peaceful is the best way to end things,in the almost perfect end Connor confronts the other Connor model and Hank saves him Connor after returning to Markus is being taken over while Markus gives his speech,I wasn't able to save them,My ending for Kara endied with Luthor AND Alice Dead and I decided to keep living as Kara. And once the final cutcene started playing I was already on the floor crying at 3:00 in the morning and stayed that way for at least twenty minutes. In conclusion I would totally recommend this game and it's so close to perfect it is.

I have to say, I really think the so-called game critics have generally underrated this title. So the fact that you're reading this review (and those by other users) will, in my opinion, give you a better flavour of how good this title truly is. First and foremost, I want to confess that this is the first time I've ever played a game of this genre, where the emphasis is on the decisions you make, as opposed to the manner in which you make it (Eg how well you execute a headshot/ how well you've timed a dodge). There are still moments when you have to toggle the right stick within seconds to evade on-rushing cars or mash certain buttons to execute a slide but to avoid spoiling the game for you, all I would say is that you definitely exert less "physical control" over the actions of your in-game avatar. Yet, to my surprise, this has not hampered my enjoyment of the experience one bit. The graphical fidelity is other-worldly. I have played a lot of games with good graphics over the years (God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, Death Stranding) but for one reason or another, this game looked the most realistic when projected onto my TV screen. Not "one of", but "THE MOST". There were points during the gameplay, where I actually felt I was looking at an actual human being. Again, I don't have the technical background to explain to you why, so I can only describe it to you as is. But this game is so much more than just about the graphics. The plot is, in my opinion, very good (not the best this time, but still, very good) and the way the director intricately links your actions to results onscreen is a perfect epitome of the concept of causality. Almost every decision you make has an impact on the storyline and sometimes, these can be the seemingly most minute of decisions you're faced with. The motion-capture is excellent and the different background theme tune for each of the protagonists blend in seamlessly with the characters they're trying to portray. The artistic direction throughout this game is phenomenal. The different lighting and the different camera angles used for each of the three main characters complement well the story they're trying to tell and overall, I have to say I am deeply impressed with the work Quantic Dream has done for this masterpiece. The one slight complain I would have about my experience is the abundance of invisible walls that you're bound to run into. Sometimes, this is cleverly illustrated (through the use of AR sign posts - you'll get what I mean if you play this game) but in some cases (in the Zen Garden for instance), this breaks immersion. But all in all, I would highly recommend anyone to purchase this game and I think the development team should take immense pride from the beautiful work they've managed to conjure in Detroit. 9/10 without a doubt. This is the fourth stab at this style of game since Beyond: Two Souls back in 2013. I will freely admit that, while there were elements about Beyond: Two Souls that I found enjoyable, it ultimately fell short in my opinion in regards to its gameplay and narrative. However, much of my issues that Beyond suffered from were greatly improved here in Detroit. It's gameplay was more engaging, there were more interesting and likeable characters, and your choices actually mattered again like in Heavy Rain. It basically takes Heavy Rain's gameplay and Beyond's high production values and combines them into, what I believe to be, Cage's best work thus far.

The game takes place in the not so distant future, where androids are common place and heavily impact the lives of the humans that created them for better and for worst. A revolution slowly starts to develop amongst the androids, demanding for equal rights as a (not very subtle) allegory for racial justice. The game chronicles three androids in particular. Connor, a detective investigating the cause of these rebelling androids (deviants); Kara, a house maid that rescues a child from her abusive father and the two travel north to Canada for refuge; and finally Marcus, a former elderly attendant that ends up as the "Chosen One", destined to lead this new android revolution.

To get this out of the way immediately, Connor is easily the best part of the game. His actor Bryan Dechart perfectly portrays him as clearly being non-human, but without coming off as robotic. He also has the most interesting character arcs in the game, whether you decided to change him for the better, or to make him a ruthless, unfeeling android. There are tons of great moments with him, especially when interacting with his hard-boiled partner Hank (excellently portrayed by Clancy Brown). Kara is a sympathetic character in her own right, but doesn't quite hit the same emotional notes for me as Connor. Marcus, on the other hand, does very little for me. He's easily the driest of the three, but does make that up a bit with some of the most significant story elements in the game. The story can be as subtle with its themes as blood in a white room. The heavy-handed symbolism, racial allegories, corniness, and just general "Cage-isms" can turn a lot of people away. As someone who is no stranger to Cage's work and can get around his eccentricities, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the story for what it was. I haven't been this invested in a Cage game since Heavy Rain.

The game also sports an absolutely stellar presentation. While some of the character models still walk into the Uncanny Valley, the game on the whole looks gorgeous, with an incredible attention to detail. Most impressive to me was in the lighting and cinematography. There is a very heavy emphasis on rich, dark colors and mood lighting, especially enhancing some of the more tense moments. The voice acting on the whole is just as solid as it was in Beyond (once again giving special mention to Bryan and Clancy), and the soundtrack is fantastic, varied and perfectly fitting each of the main characters.

Gameplay goes back to a style that more closely resembles Heavy Rain, and certainly for the better. You explore your environment for contextual prompts, engage in QTE sequences and occasionally make decisions from multiple choices. This time around, though, your choices matter more than any other Cage game up to this point. You make decisions that have significant consequences to not only the story, but in how individual characters and the world at large view you. At the end of each chapter, you are given a summary of the choices you made in a branching fashion. Some are very linear, while many others branch of into several trees that really show off just how much different a route can be, both in subtle and big ways. While I personally tend to go back and play through my preferred route, there is a lot of replayability to had here. It also helps that you can go back to specific chapters rather than having to start a fresh playthrough.

Detroit, while still carrying all of the faults of a typical David Cage game, is easily his best work to date. It's story can be kind of dumb, but it's engaging. Not all the characters work for me, but the ones that did really kept me going. If you haven't played a David Cage game yet and just want to know what all the fuss is about, this is the first one I will recommend.

It's kind of scary how this game shares certain similarities with real life political, moral and technological issues that we as a society face. Maybe in a not so distant future, we could be facing the same question... what makes something someone? Incredible game!

I think this game (as other Quantic Dream games) should be looked at as introducing a whole new concept in gaming that is kind of in between the movies and traditional console games, and I think Quantic Dream and David Cage have reached the climax of this genre so far by this game.

This is one of the best games that I've played on PS4 and definitely a big jump for quantic dream compared to beyond two souls and heavy rain. Here the choices are so many and they actually make a difference in the way the story proceeds. I liked the story and found it quite engaging. Character development is quite nice and you can emotionally connect with characters along the way. Visuals, graphics, and music are among the best that I've seen in PS4. I personally had quite some fun playing it again and again to see different scenarios based on my choices.
I really loved this game and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Neither is the music - though both graphics and music help a lot to create a world you want to dive into and that gives you goosebumps. The story is what makes a game awesome! And the story is great. I couldn't put the controller aside during my first playthrough. You really feel connected to the characters and feel their pain, joy - just every emotion. With every chapter new turns in the story came about. You can barely grasp the depth of the game in your first playthrough, seeing the possibilities for each mission to end in the diagram shown at the end. And these possibilities will make you play the game over and over and over just to experience every possible ending to every mission. Sometimes you will laugh, sometimes you will cry - but for sure you will never feel bored.

10/10 - just because i cant give more points.

Detroit become human is a gorgeous game, with incredible characters and an intertwining plot. It’s an interactive movie with a strong narrative focus. Also has a lot of possible endings and paths to take. In my opinion the plot is a mixture of Blade Runner by Philip K. Dick, I robot by Isaac Asimov and 2084: A Dystopian Novel by Daryl V. Riggs.

I lost myself in the world and story for 8 hours and didn’t even notice. I’ve now logged over 200+ hours in this game and still come back to play. This is a game where almost every single choice matters, and if you're longing for that kind of thing... you will not be disappointed. The graphics are amazing!

It has good characters, kinda mixes the good in heavy rain with some characters arcs but also the good in beyond two souls and they get likeable characters as well. The pacing is pretty good, the gameplay is much more fun than before, the investigation scenes with the music are **** amazing

It has become my new addiction. It’s amazing that you can really feel like you’re in the game and your choices matter.
I have played the beginning 4x now and get different scenarios each time that I didn’t before. Sometimes you’ll miss clues and things which keep you from unlocking a new chapter, then whatever way you decide to go decides your fate. It’s a great game. Keeps you on your toes and the graphics are amazing! My man caught me playing and he only plays things like COD and destiny etc.. and he said wow the graphics are amazing. Also my 13 year old nephew loves this game too. So men, women, and even teens will love this game. I will say it is very violent, drugs are a big part of the storyline and it’s bad as*! Def check it out! The only thing I wish I could change was I wish I could choose how my character looks, but still an amazing game!

Oh and I also wish that I could have multiple games going at once, that way when and if I wanna do a chapter over and decide a different fate, I don’t have to play from that point on then. I wish I could have multiple save games going so that I can choose to have one game to completion and one game to check out different endings and situations without losing all my new progress.

Detroit: Become Human delivers a story with a ton of possible choices, and a lot of questions for a player to bear afterward. If you like it when games make you think about them after you play them, this is the game for you. Stunning visuals and music score, make you forget about some weaker points of the game. But all in all, it is an enjoyable experience you should not miss.

Detroit: Become Human looks and sounds great, and includes key player choices throughout, though it could have benefited greatly from a tighter script. While it’s commendable that Quantic Dream tried to cover hot-button issues in a big-budget video game, it works better when focused on the personal character moments than the bigger themes that don’t dig deep enough to make a meaningful impact.

Although the narrative is fairly linear, there are enough branching paths over the course of the game to make it feel like your actions matter. That allows Detroit to still be fun even on multiple playthroughs – and for an interactive movie, that’s a rare praise. [Issue#231, p.68]
