After i was Lvl 20 and Farming Gear till Lvl 28 to be Raid rdy was not much Playtime (and we both work full time together). Then i was Lvl 28 and was farming (a Helmet in the Raid u can do Once a week HM an normal) till release of the first DLC and i am Still Lvl 29 (-.-). Okay after a big **** of the Community i thought maybe they hear and learn something and Patch it........ NOPE Since release the same **** every Day. Then i thought maybe with the DLC would come some content that tells more about the story nope just 3 missions that u play in an hour the funniest about that is, that the areas where the quest are and u are playing were there since release of the game so nothing new (not much realy). I had to laugh when I saw it while I was playing... so at the end i decided to write this rewiev, there are so many things that I would criticize yet like ( Small Map/s, ****ty Loot System, Less Story (with DLC!!!!) and much more but many people before me or in other reviews telled about the problems of the game.

    Conclusion:

I was cheated by 105 € by Activision and Bungie, when I would meet someone who says "I am a developer of them" I would puch him in the face and would steal his pocket :) ... and im serious.

lets make half a game with no story, slap a load of DLCs that are already IN the disk and call it a day.And then the next step will be to pay the bigger reviewers a LOT fo money so that we can deceive our costumers a bit longer before the castle of glass breaks and everyone notices how this game sucks-Bungie

Played this game a solid 2 months straight putting in over 150 hours. Best game I have played in a while - lots to do before even dabbling in PVP. It was well worth the $60 and I am looking forward to the DLC.

I will admit story is non existent if you are looking for a good story look elsewhere but then again most people dont play multiplayer games for the story they play it for the experience.

It's sad to see a game that started out out so great, turn into yet another CoD bashing bandwagon. Honestly, I thought I was going to be apart of that bandwagon, even after the fun I had playing the beta (At a friends house, not via preorder). The reviews that people like Angry Joe had about left a very nasty taste in my mouth about the game. However, after my friends convinced me to buy the game since it still received a mediocre review.

When I played it, it was actually very fun. Although the lack of story is a huge problem, I can still get over it as I come into my video games expecting GAMEPLAY. As John Carmack said "Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important." And although its probably not there, its the core gameplay that is what should be focused on.

But, this does not mean that gameplay is innocent. Yes, there are moments in the game that feel like Bungie's idea of "difficulty" is shooting for an hour. Yes, what was thought to happen with the games exploration didn't. And yes, the reward system for PVP is horrible (Do bad, get better rewards).

However, if you look past this, then you will find a very solid FPS that can be fun alone or with friends. The game is visually amazing, the gun mechanics are fair, the PVP despite the reward system is great, and if you can get around the other problems then you will find a product than you can play for a little while until something else comes around the corner.

Destiny has some very good points but you see it all in the first quarter of gameplay. Missions quickly become repetitive and they have you backtrack through the same areas way to many times. I'm really enjoying this game. I can understand the criticism. There are good points made. I played through Halo 1 with a friend, and I've played Halo multiplayer, and enjoyed it, but I never had an xbox myself, so I never dived into the Halo world. I can understand those who loved Halo feeling disappointed by Destiny. Destiny's "world" and story feels limited compared to Halo. ButI'm really enjoying this game. I can understand the criticism. With that being said, why I give this game a 10, is because I'm addicted to it. I love wasting time with the different goals the game sets up for you. I don't mind grinding missions when the objective is a little different, such as bounties, exotic bounties, and strikes. Finding a random treasure chest feels like the lottery, and hitting a legendary in pvp, is a gold mine. I love how seamless the transition is from single player, to multiplayer. It all feels like the same universe. This is different from COD and Battlefield in the sense that the single player and multiplayer, while fun, feel segregated.

I'm just having a lot of fun playing Destiny. It's as simple as that. So refreshing after Battlefield 4 was a huge let down for me. The Vault of Glass was huge and a great experience.

I just love Destiny. I just love it.

It's actually quite a sad thing to review Destiny, because it's easy to see the skill of Bungie in the game. The gameplay is seamless, and the graphics are great. It feels amazing to play. Mechanically, it is great.

Unfortunately, that is the extent of the positives. This game was marketed as an MMO-esque experience with a magnificent and epic storyline that could only be done by the house that gave us Halo, or if it wasn't, then they somehow managed to make that impression on me without intending to.

So, let me first examine this notion. There is not a single truly MMO feature in this game. First, within the game itself, there is not a single mechanism for players to organize themselves into large persisting groups, and if there were, these organizations could do nothing to substantially impact the Destiny universe. By contrast, EVE Online, for instance, allows players to form corporations. WOW has clans. Destiny has 6 man fireteams that last as long as a raid does. While they may remain your friends afterwards, the team does not. In EVE, corporations can substantially affect the political atmosphere, control systems, form alliances against enemies, and so on. These things can and do destroy months, even years, worth of work put into the game by players. No such seismic events happen in Destiny.

Secondly, the storyline is simply non-existent. I know that sounds like I'm sensationalizing, but I truly mean it. A central conflict is never outlined, beyond an amorphous "Light vs Dark" which could have been dropped entirely with zero impact on the events and their perception. You begin on what ends up being the central quest of the game about halfway through the story arc, but there is absolutely no sense of progression in a storyline at any point. Even after defeating the final boss, I guessed that was the end of the story, but I didn't know until cutscenes started rolling.

    In Halo, we knew.
Heck, even in Call of Duty [insert name], we knew. We never did not know.

Somehow, the authors of one of the most epic stories in video game history managed to get their story outdone by Call of Duty Modern Warfare.

There isn't even a place to trade gear/resources with other people. Obviously a traditional shooter wouldn't think about that for a moment, but for something that I thought was going to be an MMO-esque experience, that's a basic functionality that needs to be in place.

This, however, brings us to what Destiny is, which is a loot-driven game. Everything in this game revolves around getting better gear and leveling it up, and it fails horribly at making this an enjoyable experience. By comparison, Borderlands provides hours of storyline to grind and find the best gear. EVE provides powerful tools to users to ease the process while making it a challenging and meaningful process. Farming loot in Destiny, however, involves either spending significant amounts of time looking for a fireteam to carry you through a difficult raid, or hopping on a wall on the Moon and shooting bad guys emerging from a couple of caves for an hour.

To summarize, Destiny, to me, is a massive disappointment. I was looking for the next chapter in gaming. I was hoping for epic battles of 50 v 50 and an amazing storyline, but I received 6 v 6 multiplayer (that's a whole separate issue. Multiplayer......fml) and no story at all.

I've learned some very good things from this, though. First, ignore marketing. Wait for user reviews to come out, and listen to them. DO NOT PREORDER. I made the mistake of spending an extra $30 for the expansions, which I will probably never play in a serious manner.

    Hope this helps!

If you're a loner like me who generally prefers to play either solo or just join public missions to kill a huge boss, then you are not going to be happy with this game. It has some solo content and it has some public boss killing fights, but other than that, you are going to wander around aimlessly with next to no story line, and oh yeah if you have friends on your console who have the game as well, they will bug the ever lovin dog out of you to join their fire teams.
I'm not giving this game a zero because it IS well made, but it isn't well constructed when it comes to quests or story, and if you're looking for stuff to do, after a short while ( a week ), you're going to have a bad time. I refuse to buy dlc at this point, and I wish I could get my money back.

While I did not follow the original press releases and hype surrounding it, I had enough trusted hearsay to take a chance. Again, it was worth the hours and $40, but nothing past that. I grew bored from the repetition and yes, every game gets somewhat repetitive, but Destiny became painful.

Story: Scattered, dismiss able, and shallow.
Graphics: Beautiful and varied, this game shone brightest here!
Variety: Please...5 or 6 multiplayer maps came up for me 95% of the time on the few offerings of game modes, 6 strikes (3 of them making up 95% of the 'random' strikes), and repeated, dull enemies.
Replay Value: Not long...10 years of content to come, but 2 weeks of fun, 2 weeks of frustration, and ultimately, a break up in the end.

If you enjoy it, good for you. If not, there is plenty more out ther to love!

The gameplay gets very redundant after so long and Bungie really needs to make the areas much larger. 7/10 for gameplay.

While Destiny has exceptional, intuitive game mechanics, and a fun PvP, the game has so many design flaws, you could write a whole book on bad game design based only on Destiny. Here is a list that just scratches the surface:
    - Repetitive, linear mission design. Lacks variety.
    - Boss fights are all the same: Deplete the health of a bullet sponge, while ADDs keep spawning. This never changes, regardless of level.
    - Unskippable cut scenes.
    - No way to control music and sound effects volume.
    - Over reliance on RNG.
    - No sense of progression at endgame. Level cap relies on RNG.
    - No established social system. Limited voice chat options. Forces you to meet other players out of the game.
    - No matchmaking for the game top challenges. Paired with the last point (forcing players to step out of the game to meet other players), it makes key game elements, like playing the raid, an inconvenience.
    - You have to find key points of the story out of the game.
    - Enemies spawning at the same spots, at the same time, always. Many other immersion-killing mechanics.
    - Hub area NPCs limited to vendors.
    - Open world lacks discoverability. No reasons to go off the beaten path.
    - Grinding. Hours upon hours of boring gameplay spent farming materials.
    - Limited character customization. At endgame, gear customization is reduced to selecting a limited amount of shaders. You can choose between a few abilities and the weapons you use. That's it.
    - Weapon customization is limited to choosing between a couple of set features.
    - Amount of content just barely acceptable. This must be a decision based on greed rather than incompetence, since the DLC with additional content, was advertised, and for sale, even before the game came out.

I'm just getting started here. The bottom line is, Destiny is a wasted opportunity. The excellent gameplay mechanics, visual and sound design, and fun PvP, saves this game from being a 2/0 or even a 0/0. Those are my two cents.

I have logged over 350+ hours in this game and know every single short cut, cheese, multiplayer map, strike mode, character, everything there is to know about this game. I was captivated for a very long time in becoming the best out of everybody on my friends list and I achieved that with my two level 30 Warlocks. Yes, the story does suck which is why I'm giving it an 8 instead of a 10, but the gameplay is amazing. The raids, especially on hard mode, are very entertaining and require as much skill and team work as possible. It's sad to see so many bad reviews for such a damn incredible game.

The multiplayer is phenomenal. It is just simply incredible. One of the best console multiplayers I have ever played. Bungie did a great job with the maps and balancing out skills, characters, and levels so that everybody has a chance to compete.

After acquiring almost every exotic in the game I have finally weened off of Destiny and starting venturing out to play other games. I still think I am going to come back for the expansion pack, though, because I don't think I have ever been so attached to a game in my life. The communication with other players is wonderful and I have met a lot of good friends through Destiny.

If the story mode was better this would easily be an 11/10, but as for now I stand with my rating: 8/10

Saying that however it does have it's moments as a multiplayer game. Not the online deathmatch kind but the 'let's sit and play the story together with a mate' kind of multiplayer.

Forget the online matches, it's poorly matched to players of equal skills and as much fun as CoD (not fun at all).

It looks very nice indeed on the PS4, and the controls and handling are spot on. I can't fault that side of the games development at all. I cannot attest to the games longevity at this point but in small short burts it does have it's moments.

The game is very pretty with interesting settings and a great musical score, but this all feels like wasted potential for a game that could have been SO MUCH BETTER! The multiplayer is alright, but not up to the standards of other multiplayer shooters. In the end destiny feels like a game that could have been so much better had it not been as linear and repetitive. IT IS SO REPETITIVE PLAYING THE GAME BECOMES A CHORE! IN THE END DESTINY=WASTED POTENTAIL.
As a side note I can't make a comment on Destiny's story because I had no idea what was going on, the game doesn't bother to explain it and just expects you to read a wiki of the internet. Because nothing says immersion like having to use google to work out what is going on in the game.

It's a pretty large issue, but I see a lot for this game in the future. The actual game-play itself is some of the best I've played in it's genre. The PvP can be a little spastic and the super's can get annoying to fight against sometimes. But overall, everything plays very well. The PvE and RPG aspects of the game are what bring it down a bit. Boss's have entirely too much health, and there is hardly enough variety during the battle to make it interesting. And the fact that doing strikes is the most efficient way to acquire new gear is a little disappointing. But I'm still playing. And that's what solid game-play mechanics will do to players. The game in it's current state is unfinished, due to Activision's role. But I appreciate the way they are releasing content. It adds a new layer to immersion. If they gave you everything they had to offer at release, you'd play through it in a week or two and be done. That's not how events happen in the real world. It take's months, even years for wars to develop and end, not weeks. So by releasing certain content throughout the year, it adds an almost realistic approach to how the players will encounter the story. Destiny is an amazing FPS and an average RPG, for now. When the rest of the content is released, I believe that Destiny will finally live up to the hype it built.

The missions are very intense when you reach over level 15 and there's great atmosphere and the music makes it even more intense! You need to play with friends in a fire-team to get the best experience as you coordinate with each other to complete strikes, raids and missions so I do not recommend to play it on your own as it's not that fun.

The graphics are stunning and there are some breathtaking views (go to the black garden on venus!). There are always things to do from daily/weekly raids and strikes, PvP, complete bounties to upgrade your equipment.

If I had to be super-critical, I think they should make the AI spawn random rather than at fixed points.

If you're sitting on the fence, buy it, find people to play it with and enjoy the Destiny experience!

    The Review: Indepth

Story: Extremely poor.. It's disjointed, and doesn't make any sense. Spontaneously after ages of being sieged by the "darkness" (whatever that is) all the stuff is going down now? I mean seriously... The enemy has just suddenly decided to steal some info they've had in their territory for ages... The story line is filled with this stuff. It's as if it was written at the last minute by the programmers themselves.... You can tell they wrote it in reverse. "We want the players to kill 3 waves of enemies lets have them defend a computer (which cannot be destroyed).. Wait we used that 3 times... Ok lets have the players defend a alien computer! GOOD IDEA GUYS. *High Five's all around. *

The story is poorly scripted. I feel bad for Peter Dinklage. He's told to say "It's just past all those Devils" when there is only one Devil... Not plural... singular.... "I'm picking up a signal and it's not Cabal" When all you face next is Cabal....

The alien races fight each other and you, but there is no reason why they do this. You just have to accept it as is. Most of the story is basically just noise that plays as you do the same missions over and over. Then you finish, and then replay the missions over and over to earn Levels of Vanguard/cryptarch/Dread Orbit... etc. for no reason at all. You get full access to everything at level 2/3 so my level 30 Cryptarch is simply to get the 'level up bonus' which are items I scrap.

The Loot: Meh... Some of it is fun, but most of it is just junk to scrap. Infact I scrap 99+% of everything I find. It's hard to find amour that gives you the bonus you want in Ammo carry capacity for the guns you use. Sure you have boots that give you Scout rifle ammo increase but then it comes with Shotgun... You don't use a shotgun.. So you find one that gives you sniper ammo, but the other one is auto rifle...

and the 'aesthetic' items.. cloaks for hunter. Sash, or bonds do nothing. a level 15 one that is common is the same as a rare one at level 20... Not even the ability to infuse a style you like with anything... A wasted slot.

the shaders... Neon ones... Sure works well for multiplayer to stand out like a beacon... I have 2 that resemble cammo of a grey and green variety. I get hit less using them. So they are the only ones I use. I scrap the rest.

MultiPlayer: The strikes are not bad, but repetitive. On the PS4 I have 6 it rotates between. You may or may not talk to the people on your team but there is no reason for it. You are just rushing it as fast as you can. Most of my friends don't play Console games, the few that do either have Xbox One or don't have Destiny on the PS4. So I have to solo everything where there isn't matchmaking.

I tried to find a few groups to do the Vault Raid with, but to no avail. If you make it clear you want to do it you may get invited to the groups throwing out invites on a 3rd party website, but you have a better chance of being kicked from the fire team that being on it. So I haven't even tried to do the Vault except for the early stages when I could exploit to the 3rd area.

    Missions:
Why even bother with them... It's only Kill X monsters, Travel to Y position and stand still for 10 seconds, or Deploy ghost and let it take a snapshot. That's it. Nothing else.

Group Special Missions are: Kill Monster X, or Kill Groups of monsters at Location Y. That's it...

Music: Awesome music. Really. They did a great job.

Visuals: Really good. Levels and environment are the best, vehicles, and aliens are so-so. Your hunter... Faces look so-so.

Controls: Excellent. Very intuitive, smooth and glitch free.

I give the game a 6 because of the last few points. Otherwise it would be a 4 or lower. The last few points really save the day. You don't get frustrated by the basic mechanics, just with the story/repetitiveness of it.

They could have done a simply trading/top trumps style mini game based on your weapons, armour or enemies killed...something....anything....it just feels half finished with so much bland emptiness. I mean one of the trading posts has had the same item for sale since day one. no stock refresh nothing. She must be so bored as every player wonders past without saying hello.

What there is are a few really good levels (the first couple and one or two others) with lots of mediocre bits in between and the most anticlimatic 'big boss' finale I've ever experienced in gaming.

I really wanted to love this game like I've done with mass effect, dragon age, Halo, PGR and others. It should have had a massive core of thirsty gamers hooked. But many have felt short changed and left cold.

These are all issues but not to the level many people complain. Stability issues are few and far between unless you have some major issues or incompatible ISP, but support is always available. Glitches are apparent, but rarely gamebreaking, though I have raged quite a bit at major glitches that have to be fixed that seem to be forgotten due to community needs. I understand it, but it is frustrating.

This game, whether people like it or not, has added a lot of new components to the world of console-gaming FPS. Much is borrowed in some places and not enough in others, but the world that has been created is graphically stunning and beautiful, with great tweaks, like the broken international space station high above the moon, the sheer massive size of ships, and so on. The combat is the smoothest I have ever seen.

Lack of content is offset by random drops and loot, which is a major gripe from the community, though this is nothing new. Random is how it goes, and I have heard complaints about the game being short or the game being boring, but often, these are spouted by people with 200+ hours of gameplay. And this game will keep your attention for multiple hundreds of hours. Strikes are fun, the raid is hard and worthy of raiders from any game, though it does have a lot of glitches that can end your run early.

I can spend hours on this game doing patrols and strikes, though with my characters as high as they are now, it has lost some appeal. I am very excited for much of the additions that Bungie is constantly updating and adding, but overall this game does fall short in a number of ways.

PvP is infuriating no matter how good you're doing due to faulty net code. Glitches are obnoxious, and the game is very repetive without much of a need to continue doing the things in the game that require a lot of time. If you raid, you quickly lose the need for gaining reputation or doing bounties, and there are a ton of simple additions that would've made the game far more interesting with minimal extra effort. The story is there, but is overall drab. The lore adds some nice touches, but you have to explore that using the website or companion app which was a risk that mostly fell flat. Overall, the game has gotten more boring, but after multiple hundreds of hours by most players, I don't think there is a need to complain, especially when so many of the community have gotten to the level they are at by glitching the final boss, allowing the best weapons and armor to drop.

Overall, the music, gameplay, environment, and endgame is amazing offset by minor complaints and repetition. Even with the complaints, this game will hold your attention for a very long time and will continue to influence new games coming out.

This won’t be short, so skip to the summary if you want the concise verdict.

To start off, both Destiny's sound and visuals are excellent. The soundtrack is brilliantly put together, and is backed up by spectacular scenery - most notably on the moon. Animations and effects are well done. Glitches are infrequent at worst in normal game-play, and the game definitely doesn't suffer despite the lack of 60 frames per second (as it shouldn't).

The core game mechanics are solid. Movement is smooth and fluid while shooting is well refined and satisfying. Both aspects do of course have similarities to Halo, but that isn't at all a bad thing.

However, beyond the basics, Destiny does have numerous issues. Firstly, there's no reason that a game of its genre should have a ground breaking story-line. The truth is that the majority of the target audience don't want it. But that still doesn’t excuse the half-baked attempt at a story that Destiny gives us.

Barely anything is explained. What happened to the traveller? Why are all of the guardians dead at the start? The game sets itself up to explain its background, but never does. The whole story in the end feels pointless; as though nothing has really been achieved. There’s not nearly enough time to learn about the characters let alone care about them. In-depth character development isn’t necessary, but there needs to be at least a little to make the story worthwhile. Destiny has near to none.

Bungie may claim that this is merely the first chapter. Destiny has numerous expansions to come, so while you might not feel any sense of achievement yet, you will. The problem with that is that this was a full price release. To package such a lacklustre, unfulfilling story into a full price release is criminal. Without paying for Xbox Live/Playstation Plus, the campaign is all you get, and it definitely isn’t worth the price on its own.

Sure, the Grimoire cards on Bungie’s website explain everything you want to know about Destiny’s universe, but why should you need to visit a website? Needing to leave the game to get a full experience is poor design, full stop. Destiny began with the ambition of immersing the player in a rich new world, drawing fantasy together with FPS to create something fresh. Instead, you’re left wondering what your purpose in this new world is. You’re left wondering who all of these random and mismatched alien races are. Why did they come to Earth? Why did they attack humanity? What happened to leave Earth in ruin? None of it is properly explained.

Even beyond the campaign, the lack of content is constantly apparent. While every area is beautiful, the fact is there are only four (excluding The Tower). To add to this, the game barely encourages exploration, and so there’s very little point or enjoyment in it. At later levels, you’ll find yourself killing the same few dozen enemies time and time again. You’ll be repeating the same few dungeons (called strikes) over and over hoping for a chance of good loot. The enemies soon become boring to fight, as well. They lack variety, and bullet-sponge bosses are infuriating. You could take on the raid for a more advanced challenge, but you’ll need five friends with Destiny to be online with you to be able to access what is without doubt the best developed content in the game. Destiny’s promise was that it would have a lifetime of ten years, but sadly many people will be bored within ten hours.

Levelling in Destiny also comes with problems. To advance past level 20 you’ll need to collect armour pieces with the ‘light’ stat, but the loot system is punishing. After level 20, all loot is completely random. You collect ‘engrams’ in the world which you then decrypt to receive an item. Engrams have different tiers (rare and legendary) but beyond that you get a completely random piece of loot. Even better, if you decrypt a legendary engram you have a chance of getting an armour piece for another class which you can’t even use. As a result, levelling beyond 20 is based almost entirely on time and luck, not skill. That’s an issue.

Moving away from the co-operative aspects of the game, PvP is good. The difference in gear between new players and high level players isn’t ideal, but is easily tolerable. You can also use PvP to get loot, but again it’s random, so don’t expect a 5.0 K/D will earn you a legendary engram.

All in all, Destiny has solid foundations, but the rest needs some work. It is by no means a bad game. It has been put together with more care and attention than most releases of the past few years. However, it isn’t revolutionary, and at times it struggles to simply be enjoyable. What’s sad is that it had the potential to be great. The ideas were there, but the execution missed the mark this time. Perhaps, in time, Bungie will fulfil their promises, but that time could be some way away.

The weapons are awesome and the challenges like the weekly nightfall are pretty intense with my friends. We keep going in order to level up our armor and weapons so we can try and get into the raid which would be awesome since it's something we have to work toward instead of just spoon fed to us like most games. Only reason why I don't give it a solid ten is that the strike missions (dungeons) are a big part of the leveling experience and yet they have only 6. They should have released 2 for each planet instead of only 1 for earth and the moon. Expand

I find it really satisfying to show off my weapons to all my friends who are jealous that they can't get on my level. I HIGHLY recommend keeping this game for the new DLC even if you don't like it. The DLC is going to further explain the story line and keep you engaged. You might be wondering why I did't give this game a 10 if it is as good as I say. It's because Bungie can't explain the disappointing story line that is happening NOW prior to release date. My final rating would be an 8/10 (Above average). Expand

Speaking of the campaign, the storytelling really and I mean REALLY fell short of Bungie's standards. 90% of the time I had no idea what was going on and why I was killing countless waves of enemies and bosses which are just "bullet sponges" with virtually no special attacks. The only highlight I found with this game was "The Crucible" which is very great but could still use some work. I wouldn't recommend buying this game unless you are solely looking for PvP. Expand

Graphically, Destiny provides some of the best artwork in a game set in a new sci-fi world I've seen. Vistas on the different planets of our solar system are wonderfully and beautifully created, and leads one to want to view them rather than actually play the game itself. The story that players wander through, as there really is no overall story arc that is particularly compelling nor provides adequate reasoning for what is happening throughout it, is lackluster at best, and seems to have been completely ignored as nothing more than a tag-on rather than a main sell for the game.

Where Destiny really shines is its combat gameplay mechanics, with the combat feeling fluid and, for lack of a better word, right. Player vs. Player is one of the more compelling reasons to play this game, with the combat feeling more balanced than one would expect. While there are certainly advantages to players with exotic gear fighting lower levels, it is not in such a way that there is no point to joining in on it. As well as that, the various classes are interesting, if somewhat too similar to one another.

However, beyond this, the overall game itself reminds me of a massively-multiplayer game in regards to all of the bad things that come with them, with little of the benefits. Load times are frequent and long, maps are notoriously small for what they were perpetuated as being, and the Strikes and Missions offer little enjoyment after the initial run. Too much grind for too little gain is the best way to put it. Truly, the only thing that kept me coming back was the PvP, which too has lost its luster.

Overall, Destiny isn't a bad game, but it is nowhere near being a good game either. Rather, it's average, with some moments of brilliance, and other, far more, moments of poorly thought out choices and gameplay decisions.

I got very board of replaying the same old missions in the same old places just with higher ranked enemy's. When my friends left to play other games i got board of playing the game by myself and wanted couldn't play unless it was Co-Op.
Then there was a couple of bugs which after the fulfilment of defeating a boss with your friends which took a lot of teamwork and sometimes up to an hour to achieve you was left with worthless items as a reward.
I've not played Destiny for about 3 weeks after it come out as I'm board of same missions, raids and searching the same places.

What makes for example Path of Exile( Another great Action/Rpg with isometric graphics) also valid for Destiny too. Both games have created addictive mechanics with their own terms.
In Destiny, you will also have Fps, Great Graphics, and also Space and SciFi theme!
My only complain is Death doesn't have serious consequences on Destiny. I mean Your armour doesn't get lower stats because of your death or so on.
In re spawn restricted places when you die other enemies who you killed before will re spawn but that's it.
I would like to see some decrease of my items when I die. This would make this already addictive game
    much more addictive.
Still Destiny has made me said that happily I've purchased a PS4 as a younger brother for my gaming pc :) .

Destiny is a science fiction online first person shooter game. The story is about the Travel, a white celestial body that brought a lot of advancements and gifted knowledge and prosperity to mankind. This was known as the golden age and lasted for centuries; however, they were attacked by aliens known as the Darkness whom destroyed the earth and the remaining survivors of mankind are forced to live in a single city called the tower.

You play as one of the warriors known as the guardian accompanied by a flying robot voiced by Game Of Thrones star, Peter Dinklage. Your mission is to fight back, awaken the traveler and rebuild the human civilization. You begin by creating your guardians race and appearance and you will have to choose between 3 classes, each with their own skills and upgrades. Titans are good for close range, Hunters are good for stealth and long range and WarLock have magical powers that can be used for offence and protection.

Destiny has RPG and MMO elements. It is spread into 5 main worlds. The Moon, Mars, Earth, Venus and the Tower. Each world has its own enemies, interactions, materials, weapons and loots to collect.

You will come across other players in the world that will help you if needed and you will gain experience points gained from the multiplayer that can also be used for upgrading your equipment, character and abilities on the main campaign. You start on the Tower before heading to other planets. The Tower is you Hub and is the place where you will come back for new weapons, items and to socialize with other players; however, it is a shame that the Tower has little interaction as it would have been a lot of fun if you were able to interact more.

You will come across 4 different alien races that you will face. The Hive, Fallen, Vex, and Cabal and each of their armies have their own battle tactics. The 10 to 11 hour campaign can be played solo; however, to really enjoy the game, you will have to play with others. There is the Strikes which is designed for a total of 3 players were you will have to kill large waves of enemies and fight a boss at the end of the level and once you complete level 5, you will unlock the Crucible which is the online multiplayer that includes 6 game modes and competing in them unlocks rewards.

The game is fun with solid game-play and good gun mechanics and the music does a good job setting the mood. The world of Destiny is huge and the attention to detail is beautiful with everything running smoothly. Leveling up and looting is addictive and the progression system is nicely done.

The RPG elements weren't as strong as I hoped for and I felt that many missions were repetitive. The overall story didn't draw me in. It was dry and not emotional. The characters were weak and lacked personality and none of them were memorable; however. the fun and solid gun-play with a variety of weapons highly compensates.

Destiny is an overall good game that is made to play with others. This is where the game shines and this is were you will have the most fun in.

Destiny was one of the most anticipated games for 2014, largely due to the reputation of Bungie and it's success with the Halo franchise. But, does Destiny live up to the lofty expectations of gamers, or does it fall into the dark abyss, forever to be forgotten?

After spending about 200+ hours playing Destiny on the PS4, I decided it was time to give it an accurate review based on in-depth play with everything that the game offers. Many reviewers would have you believe that Destiny is not worth the $59.99 price tag, but very few of them have managed to complete even a tiny snippet of the content in-game. While Destiny may not be the revolutionary franchise that gamers expected, it does deliver a truly refreshing IP to the FPS genre. Destiny is very similar to Gearbox's "Borderlands" franchise in that it delivers an RPG driven FPS, however, Destiny focuses more on the social / multiplayer experience than the singleplayer narrative that made Borderlands a success. As one should expect, most of your time is spent engaging enemies in a variety of futuristic locales with automated weaponry and a dash of space magic. The controls feel tight and responsive, and the shooting mechanics are reminiscent of Halo. While Destiny delivers a very well executed FPS experience, it leaves more to be desired in regards to the "RPG" portion of the game. The story is lacking, and the narrative is almost entirely non-existent. Destiny's cast of characters feel lifeless and unresponsive with very little emotion or connection to the potential narrative Bungie planned. However, for those who can look beyond the singleplayer shortcomings, Destiny delivers an engaging social experience with friends. With persistent support provided by Bungie to improve and patch the game, it is merely this franchises "Destiny" before it tops the charts as one of the most revolutionary and influential games of this generation. I truly look forward to what Bungie has planned in future DLC releases, "The Dark Below" and "House of Wolves", and recommend that you purchase this title and give it a try!

I really hope that if a sequel is released that Bungie will spend a lot more time on building the story because the game and series has a ton of potential Expand

Weapons are pretty cool and you're constantly upgrading; it's definitely different than everything on ps4 so far.

The bad side: you can't do raids - which is the most fun part - until you reach at least level 20 or you'll get DESTROYED since you get mixed with people of unequal level or skill. Also unless you already know people who own the game you'll never be able to do campaign with others, meeting players online is impossible.

Destiny has great game play and music but lacks dramatically in almost every other aspect of the game. I'll though out story line, parts of the game ONLY available on the bungie website ( grimoire cards and create a clan) that should actually be in game, poor voice acting and a below average reward system. The game feels like a giant shiny brand new slot machine. Pure RNG doesn't make it seem riveting or fun. Even when you get an exotic armor or weapon you feel glad, but it simply wears off. With no loot pools or next to no confirmed drop rates, the loot feels 100% luck based and not rewarding at all. Not to mention the flaw in the raid, making it possible for people who don't know how to do a raid properly or even be geared for it, get the best current in game gun the Vex Mythoclast which is one of the only in game confirmed drops for completing the raid on hard.
One thing Destiny does good is the social experience. I have a lot of fun playing with others. Getting a group ready to run through the raid is a lot of fun. But even then, it gets dry fast.
My final verdict; don't buy this game hoping to be a triple A giant. Come into Destiny with low expectations and it may appeal to the consumer more.

Overall I give it a 9 though it has the feel of a 10 because some things do need improvement. Here is a breakdown of how I see it:
Production quality is a 10. Graphics, Music, Etc are amazing
Gameplay quality is a 10 for FPS mechanics. Better than COD or Halo
Story quality is a 5. If you need a compelling story reason to shoot the bad guy you'll be disappointed
Content quality is an 8. What is there is great, but it needs more
Additive quality is an 11 (out of 10). I've never been so addicted to a game before. I thought Skyrim was bad, this is worse. I'm sure it will cause divorces. Just one more bounty... one more weapon perk... one more daily... I've lost so much sleep playing this game.

Yes the game grinds from 20-28. Yes I've done the same missions 45 times. Yes it's a love/hate relationship. However if I stop for more than a day, I miss the stupid grind. Something magical about the formula they have.

Final thought. This game is not perfect, but it is one of the most enjoyable games I've played and it will only get better with time as they add more content and tweaks. If you read updates from the professional reviewers they all claim the game is still a "6 or 7" but they admit they can't stop playing it. That says it all.

Once you have completed the story missions and unlocked the Moon, Venus, and Mars, there is very little content to keep this game from becoming nothing more than a grind fest for better gear/weapons. Sure you could run some high level strikes from the Tiger playlist, but be warned, you'll probably get the same strike back to back. Since the loot rewards are random, you might have to spend several weeks to get an upgrade for a particular item slot. (I have 3 max level Titans and run the raid on normal and hard mode each week on all 3. That's 6 raids for the last 5 weeks, and I have yet to get an upgrade for the legs slot. This prevents my character from reaching light level 30.) Should you get lucky enough to randomly loot the item you wanted, check the perks/stats on it. Those are also random, and although it may be an upgrade to your light level, the item itself might have perks and stats on it that do not benefit your character or playing style at all. The developers are quick to patch certain aspects of the game that they feel needs a hotfix. IE: the Vex Mythoclast is an exotic weapon only attainable through the completion of the raid on hard mode (also random chance). This weapon was regarded as the best weapon in the game and absolutely carved it's reputation in the PVP battlegrounds. Within 2 weeks a hot fix nerfed the damage output of the weapon in both PVE and PVP. Now the best weapon in the game is the most useless weapon as it's damage is rivaled by any auto-rifle or pulse rifle. Apparently a patch was supposed to be introduced to increase the damage that the Mythoclast does in PVE, but it's been 2 weeks and yet no word of when the fix is going to be implemented. Here's the other catch, because it is classified as a Primary fusion rifle, the amount of ammo that can be carried is very limited, as most armor specifically grants extra ammo for a specific gun type or the weapon slot like Special and Heavy weapons. Not Primary weapon ammo. I know it just sounds like I am whining because I own a Mythoclast, but why spend the dozens of hours to earn a weapon that was initially designed to give the hardcore players an advantage in every aspect of the game? Now to vent a little on the PVP battlegrounds or Crucible as it's called in the game. Lag.... Lag... Lag. Other than that, it's rather fun and frustrating at the same time. The map playlist doesn't seem to cycle well. Expect to get the same map over and over if you play a certain game type for a while. The game types are the same as Call of Duty multiplayer, just with different names. Level advantages are disabled, so as a level 29, I can still get smoked by a level 5 if I'm not careful. The developers introduced a game mode called Iron Banner, where supposedly level advantages would impact game play. But then they decided to tone it down because it would be unfair to casual gamers. But I thought that's what Crucible was for. The last patch made the last boss in the raid harder to defeat. The developers would prefer random variables for that encounter, instead of deliberate coordination between the fireteam members. Thus changing the overall dynamic of that boss fight that we have all been accustomed to for the last 6 weeks. All in all, I personally feel like the game was under-developed at launch, and the developers are constantly tweaking the game play in a negative way. Their 10 year plan for Destiny, might not include many of their current players should the game and it's direction continue on this downward spiral. Expand

Not a bad game. Gun to play just wish there was more content. It's a game that takes you around space and I wish there was more! The PVP pissed me off so much when I first started because of the learning curve but once you get into it, it's fun. The only issue is it gets boring really fast.

I tried giving this game a chance but it fails miserably on all counts. There is nothing worth while doing in the game once you get to around level 15. I definitely don't recommend buying unless you are a fan. The grouping in multi player is difficult to do and seems tacked on. This is a dismal wasted opportunity.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Destiny is good game, it draws you in straight away with it's graphics and great gameplay. That all came to end for me, all the top tier gear is locked away at level 20 and you need to earn reputation with factions and currency to be able to buy the gear. the problem with that is by the time you grind enough reputation and currency you have done everything the game has to offer so many times over.

Once you reach level 20 you HAVE to wear specific items that have a Light rating in order to continue leveling up, if you take them off to wear something with no Light rating you can no longer level up beyond level 20. This mechanic to me is just pointless in any game let alone a game that already has so many things that need grinding they add specific items you need to farm just to level up beyond level 20.

The story is almost non-existent and even though I just played it I can't remember anything about why I was running around the solar system besides it was to stop a darkness that is never really explained who defeated a traveler that is never really explained or how a tiny little floating box somehow brought your character back to live after being dead for hundreds of years.

The game appears of have had great potential not to mention an insane budget and wit both of those what has been released is a very pretty game with excellent game play but is completely devoid of any good storytelling in its campaign and far too much farming/grinding.

For MMO PVE it falls strait on its face with the worst same questing grind and daily's that you will ever see do to the lack of content and places for quest to happen. Each zone is very very small and for a open free world your limited on where to go do to ceiling and border controls.

There is only one town and in this town is every NPC you will ever meet all 18 of them. Each NPC has no back story in game nor do they make you feel like they add to the game lore but are only in place to be a vendor.

The story as stated before feels ripped apart and forced to work. One of the most famous quoted lines coming from a NPC called nothing more then "The Stranger" who says "I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain." This one line sums up so much of the limited information that you are told. If you would like to know more about in game lore you will have to stop playing the game and log in to bungie.net and read it there.

The highest weapons and armor to use are Yellow exotics but true be told they are not that exotic do to they are sold every weekend and everyone has them so at no point will you feel that you are standing out in the sea of players. Speaking of player count the most you will ever see is 16 in each zone. To combat the lag normal with large groups of people they just made hundreds of the same zone with only a 16 person cap. This way people will not lag in a zone but I limits the ability to meet new people and party up with them. On that same topic there is no LFG or party finder. Only on strikes will you get a match maker that will place people close in lvl in a group for 1 event. Right now we are limited to jumping on the forums to try and find people to play with. Also the clan support is very very weak. Yes you can have a clan and it has a 100 person cap, but there is no clan chat or anyway to see if people in you clan are online other then to have them on your friend list.

All in all Destiny feels like a hollow void of a game with no soul or care. If it be PVP or PVE or Social side of gaming I will not recommend this game at all.

I don't particularly care for the massive -- almost insulting -- degree of aim assist. And the voice acting for the little dinkle-bot is some of the worst I've enured. The most notable thing about this game was the marketing leading up to the launch. Though they forgot to hire gameplay director, as game is repetitive and unsatisfying. One run through campaign and it’s getting boring. (Very short run in 6-8 hours tops) Re-playing missions on higher difficulty is useless. It yields no real reward just more time to complete against tougher enemies.

Experience based level cap limited to 20. It’s ridiculous. To get higher level special items are needed that are hard to find. The best option to buy weapons sing special currency, though with price of up to 150 units per gun and getting only 2-4 per 20 min mission is just too much. Raids automatic match making is unavailable, so I need to have friends available or find someone to join me. I suppose spending time finding or organizing people and not playing is sucks.

The game has a potential, though boring and repetitive gameplay that requires a lot of time to get new stuff and so new level is discouraging. I thing only gamers with A LOT OF FREE TIME will get fun out of it.

Unfortunately this is simply a mess. The mechanics are solid and it looks beautiful, but that's it. The story is very weak, with plenty of holes, and utilizes Dinklage as an exposition bot. Leveling up in RPG's happens within the worlds, however, the world of Halo.. I mean Destiny... is so quickly conquered you are left wondering how to keep leveling up. Well, here's the level up formula in this game:

    LVL 30 = [10 (20 Missions at average of .5hr) x 100 (playthroughs)] + [50 (hours) x 6 (match types)] + [Random Loot avg 30hrs] = 1330 hours or 55ish days

Okay, that's a slight exaggeration, but you get the point. A game can not be build solely on repetition.

The game becomes a loot hunt after only 10 hrs in worlds this small, then what you have on your hands is a terrible MMO hybrid that isn't worth your time.

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
