Have you played Destiny 1? Then you have played Destiny 2. I bought this for 27 and still feel like I should have bought a different game. Not bad, but not innovative or a compelling edition to the series.

Shooting is fine but as a new game experience it's just boring and doesn't feel like it's worth the time. Especially if you played previous part.

Destiny 2, oh how the sequel lives to a limited imagination. I loved the first and all it's following expansions, that was a good game, no overhaul in micro-transactions or the constant let down of rich content, you jump in to original Destiny, and you'll find yourself having a good time, what a shame the sequel could not quite keep the same standards.

The story was good, the visuals improved and the layout of the HUD was smooth and clean, but narrative and visuals are nothing once squandered by the perilous antics of transactions and one time consumables. The let down for Destiny 2 is nothing really in the game core itself, more of the virtual shop within it, buying gems or what not is nothing new in games, and buying them to purchase paying only exclusives isn't either, but this game had no need for it.

I won't say all the bad points, read other player reviews, but beside the bad points there is some light, the story is good, and I mean good, there is a lot of connection between the characters, that was seen in the original, the new antagonist is amazing and the overall direction of the story is great.

The more open world environments is a neat addition, the ability to explore and play small missions and get new gear is fun, the secrets you unravel the enemies you fight all wrapped up in a beautiful world is well worth exploring.

Combat is much the same, the classes are altered in their abilities, but that's good as it allows for a more unique experience, I've not played strikes or crucible yet (down to the fact of PS Plus, highly against that), but i would think they would be improved from the last game.

On a final note there is downsides to Destiny 2 and there are upsides to it, as there are with many games, but if you're looking for clean crisp gun combat and a story that doesn't stray in to confusion, then consider giving Destiny 2 ago.

soundtrack.then theres this abomination.like who in the hell at bungie thought hay lets take verything great about the first game and get rid of it completely and if you disagree well they removed the difficulty changer, 6v6, 4v4, rumble free for all, mayhem pvp, strike modifier, secondary weapons heavy and special ammo, replayable missions, strike specific loot, unique exotic and legendary weapons, random weapon perks, amour perks, customisable subclases, private matches, fun boss battles where you can melt the boss but the boss can also melt you and not just do a it of damge spawn so adds and go immune rince and repeat, having all the end game activities give good loot and the lower difficulty activities give you weaker gear not the other way around, faction reps, gunsmith weapons, having ships, sparrows and shaders be earned through game play not the eververse, having enemies that are tough and chalanging for anyone except a foetus, the cosmodrome in Russia , the ocean of storms on the moon, the Ishtar collective on venus, the meridian bay on mars, the dreadnought, t he plague lands on earth, siav an entire enemy race, a voiced character.now this could all be slightly forgivavle if everything they added wasn't terrible.they promoted the game with 4 new locations one of wich being the biggest they ever made that being the europian dead zone (the EDZ) now the edz isn't actualy that big as in reality its just a massive donut with fast travel points everywhere so you will only see about 5 or 6 little areas in it and 2 of the planets io and titan are tiny and are empty baron wiats with nothing in along with that io is just an ugly rock with a terrible colour palet the other planet is Nessus that in my opinion is the only decent one as it isn't just a donut it actualy uses all the space its presented with and has a nie colour pallet and is visualy impressive.now this game says it has an epic and cinematic story well it dosnt its story is about as good as the original if not worse its just dumbed down and stripped of potential unlike the original and gives us a likeable character cayde 6. now him being a fan favorite he was featured heavily in the marketing and I was really let down when I found out hes is only in a handful of cutscenes and 2 missions.now this game being a looter shooter you would expect it ot have lot of looting that it does but because all the loot is so similar due to fixed perks and how legendarys and exotics are just thrown away as if they are the effort bungo put into this game all the loot is really boring but there is still the gunplay now it is very similar to first game in this it feels soooo boring due to all the guns feeling the same where as in destiny 1 due to all the guns felling and perks being extremely varied it felt o fun to shoot mone gun switch to another and have it feel so much more different was amzing now its just sort of press buton gun fires shot.now the pvp in the first game was so fun and thrilling and hasd a skill gap but also was fairly unbalanced now in destiny 2 they have removed nay semblance of fun or variation in the pvp as all it is is just team shotting then supers being spammed at the end of a match noq th game is statisticaly a bit more balanced but in the end there its not worth it as its just so boring and in diverse as well as that the monthly pvp event iron banner not only did they retcon an entire year of the first game it had some of the most terrible and unrewarding loot drops dor what was supposed to be an endgame activity and I say supposed because they removed level advantages from all pvp in the game iron banner and trials of Osiris or trials of the nine as it is now called so they are just sweaty boring pvp matches that are extremely unrewarding.now in every destiny game/expansion there is allways a raid and bungo delivered one of the most boring raids yet with some really dumb mechanincs especialy when compared to things like kings fall and vault of glass and not only that the raid has one boos at the very end and when you finaly kill him all you get is one gun one piece of armour and a few tokens and oh yeah screw rep gains now you have little circles that you give to an nps for a reskin of a gun you got 10 minutes ago.aswell as all this bungo remove the grimiore cards that where the first games way of explaining lore oney you had to go to there website to read them this time round they removed it and said they would put it in the game yeah they didn't they just removed lore from the entire game.at the end of the day destiny 2 is a looter shooter with boring and easy to aquire loot and boring and easy shooting full of scumy microtrnasactions that have small bits of lore attached to them Expand

Destiny 1 was one of the best games I've ever played. It was repeatative, it was grindy, but it was damn good. Destiny 2 lost all the charm of the ancestor. It's too casual, the grind became boring (lol). The raid is a solid piece of disapointment and it's very bad in general. Curse of Osiris even made it worse. Pity

When I played Destiny 1 years ago I said at the time that it was an Excelent Multiplayer. Now, this is like the first 1 but improved noticeably. So, both game are very good. Now, when I played the first one I remember I struggled because I didn't play many shooters back then. And the guides on GameFAQs though very extensive thay dealed mostly with the game like how to progress through levels, but it didn't actually teach or give clues on how to play a shooter. So, if you are a bit like me having not much experience with shooters well I can help, but just a tiny little bit. I've written a FAQ on GameFAQs not on Destiny but on Call of Duty Black Ops 4. So, if you look there for a Blackout guide you find it under this same username. On the Weapons section I give very little comments on each weapon type. Though very little it's better than nothing especially for someone completely in the dark.

Now, that's it. I really enjoyed the game and I may update this text in the future as I plan to play the expansions including Forsaken. I'm really looking forward to it, it looks promising and I've heard that it's great indeed. So, this just covers the base game. And if you read my guide on GameFAQs please don't forget to click the "YES" button if you enjoyed it :-)

And regarding the guide that's something interesting. I love GameFAQs, but for those in need of a tutorial on how to play shooters, or any genre, like racers or RPGs you don't have that in GFAQs. So, Ihave to refer a guide for a specific game to cover the basics. I think it would be interesting if GFAQs included a section on "General FAQs". Not guides for specific games but rather guides on how to play specific game genres like a mentioned shooters, racers, RPGs, MMOs and on. I'm not sure GFAQs has that and I'm not implying I'd write those guides. It's just that when I played NFS Rivals the same happened, I needed to look elsewhere to learn how to play racing games, because I don't even have a Driver License, so I needed to look elsewhere but I still wished I never needed to go outside of GFAQs S2

Well, that's it for now. Maybe will update when finishing Forsaken but not sure if I'll play it right now. Thanks for reading and enjoy youtr Destiny as a Gamer!

Update: I have notplayed through the expansions yet, but I did the assaults and played a bit of the Leviathan Raid. I said I said that Destini 1 was an Excelent Multiplayer, and this is indeed no different. Especially the Raid where you team up with other players with Voip and are required a lot of coordination and teamwork, the likes that I've seen only in MMOs. It's definitely real fun. I'd like to applaud Bungie's take on Matchmaking, for the Raid, they designed it knowing what would it require, so definitely know what they're doing on this issue. I'm glad I finally played a game from the legendary Devs of Marathon and Halo :-) Still not sure if I'll play Forsaken right now but may further update this when I do.

After the previous game I thought they would learnt their lesson, but it is still the same repetitiveness grind but even worse than the previous one at launch. To be fair, many things are nice in this game, but it's like they just hired the most expensive beautician to dress up a pig, not just lipstick but mascara and eyeliner. That's it, it looks nice but everything else is just have arsed. The game play was wonderful for the length of the story, then it gets so mind numbingly boring I couldn't go on.
I have no idea why anyone would read critics reviews anymore.

I read user reviews, sift through the ones you mentioned to get to genuine reviews. ( you were wholly misleading in your review of them BTW)
I read the fan reviews and the newcomer reviews and compare their versions.
But one thing I know for sure, is that the critic reviews are either 100% BS, 90% BS, or 80%BS.
You get paid to sit and make positive reviews of all the high budget games because they won't give you access if you make a negative one.
You as a critic have every incentive to mislead and be completely disingenuous. I know why a user gives a bad or good review based on how coherent and complete their arguments are. I can trust they are genuine.
Critics need to either grow a pair, or go away.
Metacritic is the only site I trust, and I know that is the same with many of my peers.

In the end, DO NOT BUY DESTINY. It will reinforce the notion of making barely a game, dressing it up, filling it with extra fee's and ruining the industry. Do not reward this. I want this company to be an example of how bad you can fail if you treat the consumer like fools.

Story: What story? The first 20 hours were just about doing lazy missions to kill 20 of this, listen to your boring ghost and unlock planets that are littered with the same boring enemies as in the first game. New players don't even experience the advertised story unless they are willing to waste their time doing filler missions.

Gameplay: You jump, you shoot, you pick up stuff. And it's all incredibly underwhelming.

Characters: Bungie tries to make an MMO, yet is too lazy to make memorable characters or NPC's, The game is as wide as an ocean, but as deep as a puddle. Not a single character is worth listening to.

I bought the game for 4 Euro's, but i still would have rather spend it on something else. I've had a terrible experience with this game, forcing myself through it. This is not a game, it's a complete joke. I give it a 3/10, it is terrible!

Even if Bungie backtracks on some of these horrendous missteps, there’s evidence that the dev team is either flailing around without a clear idea of the experience they want to present, or even worse, they’re happy to offer the least amount of mediocre content possible until the player base starts pushing back. When free-to-play titles like Warframe and Let it Die seem monumentally more generous and offer vastly more entertainment value than a triple-A sixty dollar release built with a budget large enough to feed whole continents, it’s clear that something has gone horribly wrong.

It’s this sense of streamlined player experience that really defines Destiny 2. Where the first game had you grinding for hours just to experience increasingly diminishing returns, this is a sequel that trims away its processor’s frustrations, firmly putting fun first.

Destiny 2 is tough to compare to other shooters or games, but it is evidently a better title than part 1. The campaign is longer, the progression makes more sense, the structure is more satisfying and the sheen and splendor on the various planets entices even more. Destiny is comparable with its predecessor after the add-on The Taken King, and is therefore a more solid foundation for the coming months of content.
