    Divisive, but important is how i would characterize this game. I have not completed the game yet, but i do feel the artistic aspects of the game even at the expense of genuine, innovative gameplay. It certainly is not perfect, yet bold at the same time. Are there better games, undoubtedly, but i cant help but feel this is still special in some way.

    After completing the game I can honestly say that this is in my opinion Kojimas best game to date. The first playtrough took me a little over 73 hours and not a single one of them was wasted or boring. The gameplay in DS won't be for everyone. It demands patience and attention. It's not fast paced or filled with action. Quite the opposite. But that's the type of games I enjoy. You will beAfter completing the game I can honestly say that this is in my opinion Kojimas best game to date. The first playtrough took me a little over 73 hours and not a single one of them was wasted or boring. The gameplay in DS won't be for everyone. It demands patience and attention. It's not fast paced or filled with action. Quite the opposite. But that's the type of games I enjoy. You will be managing your cargo, planning out optimal routes, avoiding BTs (Ghosts), Mules, Terrorists and a deadly rain. You will build structures that other people can use or find structures built by others. You will rebuild entire roads if you desire (Yes you will be using bikes and Trucks in this game). And yes, sometimes you will also engange in combat both with humans and BTs. Not everyone will find the core gameplay loop of DS fun but I adore it. It's fun, it's addicting. Whenever I stopped playing DS I couldn't stop thinking about it.

    The Story on the other hand will be less divisie, it's Kojima at his best. It has its funny and sad moments. Well written characters. Amazing acting. An interesting setting. And funnily enough it's a lot easier to understand than some of Kojimas previous work.

    Honestly there is so much more to this game that this review doesn't do it justice. The online aspect of it alone is amazing and fun to play with.

    This game won't be for everyone, no doubt about that. But for me personally it's the best game of 2019 and this whole generation.    … Expand

    Death Stranding is a unique game. It's literally like an entire environmental puzzle. It's had me hooked for the 5 hours I've played so far.

    It's a complete "walking simulator" in what the internet has called it. But it's fun, dazzling and most importantly has a lot of great design. Don't let people who get bored when asked to do something different for once. Watch some gameplay and you    Death Stranding is a unique game. It's literally like an entire environmental puzzle.     After years of this game being shrouded in mystery and strange creepy imagery I have to say it reached all my expectations and more. The games focus on story and exploration is refreshing and definitely needed in today's market, the story is phenomenal with twists I didn't see coming and a beautiful landscape to explore and build in.     Great story, stunning visuals, interesting game mechanics.. In the current gaming world full of Battle royals, micro transactions and remasters it’s nice to have a AAA title trying something fresh and different... 10/10!

    Finally finished the game after 50 or so hours and wow what a ride. At first the game didn't really clicked on me and there are even times that I got bored to death with it, but even a lot of reviewers said that these is one of the type of games that will really took a long2x while to be good and guess what it did.     >Eventhough people saying this game is a glorified walking simulator the game does feel fresh, unique, and a bit different from the typical triple a open world games devs like to churn out every year with the same formula.
    >Characters, story, and the lore are pretty amazing and also really deep.
    >The actors are perfect for their roles.
    >Interactions with other players was really fun especially building stuffs to aid yourself and them as well.
    >Play the game whatever the way you want. You can kill or avoid every enemies all together.

    Cons
    >Like I said this is a very slow burn game and wouldn't even take off at 30 or so hours so you'll either like or hate it.
    >Missions are consist of the usual delivery this deliver that from point a to point b, yeah there is collect and timed missions but other than that there's barely any variety. Also some rewards aren't really worth the long walk.
    >Disappointed that Bt's and mules aren't really a threat but more of an annoyance and you can go rambo on an army if you have the firepower.
    >Bosses are easy as hell, even the final bosses are pretty easy and doesn't really require strategy to defeat.
    >Terrains and physics can be really inconsistent at times.
    >The damn truck. I hate it!
    >Ui can be confusing at times and a lot of stuffs can be missed out if you don't bother reading the games manual.    … Expand

    will set real score after playing. Right now it is just fix for 0 bombers who probably didn't play ( probably yes - but 0? 0 means it is unplayable permanent bug without music and sound and has terrible graphics).

    Kojima is a genius. This game is not for all but it doesn't make it worse. Yes, you always have to walk but it's interesting to do it. There is always a challenge in it. The story is interesting too.

    The game is brilliant but not all the players will enjoy it.the game is super real and this is what makes it so much fun.So many are complaining about the gameplay lack but if you put some time in the game and get good at (walking) it will get so much fun .In game your are a hero but not like other game. The in game musics are brilliant. Death stranding is my first ever pre ordered game and I’m satisfied with it. The game deserves more than 83. Game have everything that a game must have.     I have never seen and played something like that! Story grabs you in from the first hour!
    Amazing music, photo realistic graphic, never seen before gameplay mechanics. It is an Oscar worthy story! It is a must! I registered just to rate this game with 10! I highly recommend it!

    Fantastic game, well worth the money, Kojimas game are not for everyone but they are for me. Loved all his games prior, with Death Stranding it’s about connection, and this PS4 console exclusive is not to be missed.

    Really people created multiple accounts just to post a variate of their fake story that they played it. This game is not for people that want a normal experience. If you are constantly looking for new experiences this is for you. I think the gameplay is fun, the cutscenes really work for me and the story is intriguing and totally original.

    Movement of the characters is really organic, they move like a real person with weight and physical limitations.

    This game is too good. Each time I think the game settled into a loop and mechanics something new and awesome shows up.

    This is a completionist's dream come true. Completing the links, making your own path, awesome unexpected new gear, the graphics... I'm addicted in the best way possible.

    GOTY for me. All that's left is to see what the replay value is.

    I dont want to go through details but all i can say I didnt regret buying this game and im very satisfied about it !

    A masterpiece by kojima.combat and traversal and just about everything is fun.The positivity of the social strand system is commendable.Its just an amazing game and the "boring" part ends with chapter 2 even though I personally found the first 2 chapter amazing

    I can't honestly say what it is about Death Stranding that keeps me coming back but it just feels good. A feel good game. Takes your mind off things. Definitely puts you in a different world. Just enjoy it for what it is. Very well made and very well polished. Don't rush it, collect the upgrades and enjoy the benefits.

    Nor is it fitting within any catergory of games. Most of the time this game has its quiet moments and those moments are absolutely fantastic. While the surrounding and environment makes you truly feel like you're alone. Manifestation of other players can be seen or heard. This makes the game less lonely but yet it feels so desolate. The devs and directing did this absolutely brilliantly.

    The transition within this game is just outright fantastic. Including the acting and cutscenes. Its a very well polished game and very well excecuted. While situated in a serious environment, this game does not stop to show and express the absurdity of what gaming is. A good reflection on life how we shouldn't deny the absurdity of life.

    Ita unique to it's core and there is no other games like this. Which is good.
    Kojima is pushing for something here. And rest assure that in the upcoming near future, many games will apply and use elements of Death Stranding to into their own.

    Everything i hoped for and more! I've been a fan of this game since it was announced. The gameplay is the perfect mixture of complex and yet simple. This game is for a certain type players its not your average action game and its not your average fetch quest game either. Its the new genre strand.

    "Walking Simulator" - it sure is, and it does it fantastically with an amazing array of equipment, exo skeletons and vehicles to help you navigate the terrain. "FedEx Simulator" -    Amazing, a masterpiece by Kojima. The criticisms leveled against it are mostly made by people who are watching a stream, or just contrarians. You'd have to be a brainlet to not be able to enjoy this game.

    "Walking Simulator" - it sure is, and it does it fantastically with an amazing array of equipment, exo skeletons and vehicles to help you navigate the terrain.

    "FedEx Simulator" - absolutely. Nearly every game is this - go here, do that, come back. Sometimes they disguise it (Go kill dragon and bring back bones). Instead, Kojima doubles down on it and it works, mainly because of the multiplayer connectivity which thankfully does not require PS+. I needed to upgrade a road, and another player had left a huge stash of metals in a post box, almost seemingly for this very occasion.

    People think the game is pretentious, but it's very transparent - the gameplay never pretends to be deeper than it is. It contains the familiar Hideo stealth sections which are fairly tense and some pretty simple combat, but the main enemy here is the environment and discovering how to navigate it is very enjoyable. The game progresses and unlocks gear at a nice rate so when you are thinking "oh man, I gotta walk here" suddenly you get vehicles, or a speed exo skeleton or zip lines, or after you spend ages trying to navigate a difficult area to make a delivery, you connect the region up to the Chiral network and other players buildings appear, giving you easy access over bridges and other structures.

    I would wager that people criticising this fall into one of three categories
    i) Watched a stream
    ii) ****
    iii) Didn't play past chapter 2.

    concerning the last point, chapter 2 is not boring, but Mama implies that you should finish everything before moving on. Ignore her. You can come back at any time. All she means is that anything you are carrying will be put in storage in a storage locker in the West Coast. Once you get to chapter 3 the game opens up immensely. Chapter 2 is still a tutorial.

    Once again, amazing game, will go down in history as extremely divisive but only brainlets who need constant stimulus will hate this. For everyone else, enjoy a relaxing game.    … Expand

    Después de 30 horas puedo ver porque este juego tiene tan variadas calificaciones y es que no es una aventura para todos, si vienes buscando una aventura 100% accion quedaras decepcionado ya que esta obra a pesar de parecer un juego "aburrido" se basa mas que nada en lo variado de sus mecanicas y es lo que te puede enganchar tanto tiempo ,no se limita a solo ser un shooter mas.

    Best game I’ve played in a long time. All I can say is somehow Kojima has made something so boring as walking into something interesting and addicting. Obviously that’s not all the game is though there is a great story along with all the games mechanics.

The story only start interesting at the beginning and then gives you a lot of unknowns. Then it starts interesting until you finish the snow mountain mission, which is tedious if you do not use zip line. The gameplay quite tedious. You would find happiness for developing new path in map and surprising story, so it is non-replayable. После прохождения оставляет приятное послевкусие , дарит особенные эмоции , может это и не игра года , но мои струны задеты ) и давно такого не было ))… Expand

It is something which you might not like in the beginning and may even want to quit it as many people have done, but will love it more and more as you proceed forward and you will have a deep respect for it once you end it. It is a unique journey with a story so deep, it will force you to think at every moment, hats off to Kojima for creating such great hypothesis on life and death. Amazing visuals, soundtrack and graphics. Coming at the gameplay, it never bored me , it was full of adventure. It's not only about delivering cargo from point A to B but also about planning and managing the cargo, taking it through rough terrains, protecting it from mules, bts and timefall. Some of the action sequences were good others were below average tbh but this game was never meant for action. Every great game doesnt need to be an action game and Death stranding has proved that. The gameplay is innovative and has multiple genres though I didn't feel anything about some " New genre " Kojima was talking about. I recommend playing this game on hard mode.… Expand

    Not for everybody, but definitely a game for me. The story, game design, soundtrack and gameplay is so unique, awesome and brave. A breath of fresh air in an industry that is mostly driven by sales numbers, Death Stranding makes you strive, connect with other players and appreciate the journey as well as the goal.

    This is definitely not a true “game” Approaching it like a episodic series might be the best way to play it. It is the small moments from from these “episodes” that create the most memorable experiences. The story is a mess. It’s just obligation to allow its underlying message to be discovered. But I felt moments in the game that were just pure fun and rekindled a sensation of playing a “game” for the first time. But this what I felt. Experiences will most likely differ.

    It is not escapism; it really does constantly ground you. You are walking from point a to point b. I feel its boring to many because... aren’t we already doing that in life?

The end result is a mixed bag of wonder and over indulgence that divided critics and audiences alike. Am I talking about George Lucas and The Phantom Menace? Nope. I am referring to one of the most divisive video game of this generation, DeathA renowned auteur known for his work in pop culture went out and did his own 'vision' without a former big corporation's criticizing his every move. The end result is a mixed bag of wonder and over indulgence that divided critics and audiences alike. Am I talking about George Lucas and The Phantom Menace? Nope. I am referring to one of the most divisive video game of this generation, Death Stranding. This is Hideo Kojima's first project outside Konami, the mega corporation that has nurtured him. The end result is probably the biggest budgeted 'Indie' video game of all time. It's an anti thesis of what Kojima has tried in the past. The MGS series is about a soldier of war who couldn't escape a cycle of violence, so much so that it is 'literally' embedded in his DNA, where his progeny continued his violent tendency ad nauseaum. Sam Porter Bridges, on the other hand, is the ultimate delivery man in a post apocalyptic world. He is essentially a pacifist, and hence, Death Stranding ends up being the most non violent game of this generation. He is not a killer and his job is simply to connect people that are separated from this horrific event. It is incredibly well produced, a killer cast in the form of Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, and has incredible production values that create an incredibly immersive experience. Yet it has its flaws. Like The Phantom Menace, Kojima and Lucas are too much in awe of their own world building, sacrificing the essence of their own medium: its narrative propulsion and in Kojima's case, the gameplay. Yet, we sort of know what Kojima tries to do: to upend the notion of an open world game and to break the 'monotony' of current AAA games and its samey approach. I have to admit, all these 'open world' games felt essentially the same: a product of astronomical budget and its pressure to make a 'profit'. Death Stranding may not work in many places, but Kojima's insistence to create something 'new' is commendable. Let's say that this is a pixelated walking simulator akin to the original NES' MGS, made by an Indie studio, then people may consider this a 'masterpiece'. But coming from one of the biggest name in gaming? Well, an obvious head scratcher there. Still worth a look, but players be warned, it is not the blockbuster 'action-vaganza' that many are looking for.… Expand

    Un juego diferente a todo, si tenes paciencia y te animas a una nueva experiencia.
    Podes llegar a descubrir una gran obra.
    Gran parte de las notas negativas se deben al lento arranque del juego que termina de cansar a los jugadores con que no acostumbran a jugar juegos de este ritmo.
    Yo en mi caso particular lo disfrute mucho.

Если с тупым лицом пострелять злых русских - то эта игра явно не для вас, к сожалению в ней нужно и критично необходимо использовать мозг, что уже само по себе больно для 99% текущих игроков в видеоигры, не говорю что жанр fps плох, нет, просто человек в силу своего интеллекта должен быть разносторонним иПрежде чем садится за Death Stranding ответьте сами себе для чего вы играете в игры?     К чему я это? Да ответ очень прост, игровая индустрия тонет в онлайнмультиплеерных играх склонных к принуждению игрока к изощренным способам мастурбации и выход таких сильных сингловых проектов в теории должен быть новостью и событием, тут нужно сделать ремарку что на самом деле этой игре нужно было выходить в форме No Mans Sky, но имеем что имеем, сильный сингл с социальными элементами, лично меня заставившими часов 10 вместо игры помогать другим игрокам различными строениями, лично построил 5 кусков дороги на второй карте, и парадокс эта магия работает, видеть что ты помог абсолютно незнакомым тебе людям - работает. Геймплей лично мне не наскучивал даже в начале, слишком цепляющий, а в эндгейме это вообще близко к шедевру по механикам.
    За сюжет пояснять не буду, такое нужно пережить самому.    … Expand

    This game is EXTREMELY niche. You either like it or you don't, which explains why most the reviews are either positive or negative, with no in-between. The gameplay has more than a lot of people make it out to be, but it definitely is a lot more muted than other games. Personally, I loved it, and it certainly is a unique experience.

    Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it. [Issue#299]

    This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
