After taking a break from Call Of Duty after Black Ops.. yes quite a few games ago.. I decided to give COD another go. Oh boy

I'm honestly confused as to how major review outlets look at this game, play it, and then give it 8 and above. It's sad really. What they are doing is supporting re-packaging and ignorance.

COD was designed to be a drug (just like Destiny). Get to the next fix. Doesn't matter that it's the same thing every time. It's only about the high. There is always a new unlock, a new killstreak, yada yada to try and fuel this mundane affair.
Meanwhile, beaming jingoism into your eye sockets and filling your ears with explosions and the cussing of prepubescent children (even though they are sadly mostly adults), the game is yet again, another rehash, reskin, re-re-er, etc. Reminder: this analysis is coming from someone who hasn't played COD since 2010.

Everything about the game feels extremely dated (no, adding an ability to jump Halo style or skid sideways does not make it different). The graphics, in all honesty, are some of the worst I've seen in 2014. They are just bland with washy textures and are life-less. To give you an idea, while you are watching an in-game POV cutscene, there is motion blur and depth of field (those add a realistic texture / fillmick look), but the second the game gives you control, the motion blur and DOF are gone. Interesting design choice......

As I noted before, the ability to jump around doesn't really make the game any different. Actually, the only noticeable gameplay difference I noticed from the added feature was.. people can now camp on roofs. It's weirdly transformed the game from a fast paced shooter to a slow camping nightmare. If the maps were bigger and the people online 'more intelligent' then maybe that could be interesting, but it's not.

Campaign wise - there's almost no reason to talk about it honestly. Like all COD campaigns, the stories are like an overly long Michael Bay 'Pearl Harbors' (wait that was long) that you just want to get through for the achievements. In fact, the games even more linear than I remember.. and Black Ops was linear.

I received this game as a gift so.. price wise I can't complain. If you have $60.. do not... do not.. spend it here. If you do spend it.. enjoy the pop ups in the game trying to get you to spend another $50 on the DLC. Yes, everyday the game will pop up asking you to buy the DLC.

COD continuing to be COD but now with the Jet Pack and other trinkets , nothing more shouldnt be acrescentado.Bons graphics, fast and fluid movement, and indestructible scenarios without much need skill to Eliminate enemies , quite pleasing new players in FPS .

As for the multiplayer, there is STILL no access to certain optimization options such as Field-Of-View, and the visuals on current-gen consoles(PS3, X360) are not as 'beautiful' as they are on next-gen consoles, and do not deviate much from that of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. I was hoping that this Call of Duty will be the one to allow me to have fun with the series again and really invest my time into it with little frustrations, rage and **** Well guess what; this game seriously blows! (In other words, it sucks!) Why does it suck? I'll go over that in a little while. I'm going to break down the game into two sections: The single player campaign, and the multiplayer.

    Campaign:
This Call of Duty's campaign was pretty decent. Sure, it's another one of them linear Michael Bay campaigns but this time, it has Keven Spacy. The graphics during the campaign (On next gen consoles anyway) are really well done. There's more color than Ghosts and it looks really nice and most environments have "life" in them, which is a breath of fresh air. The story was pretty interesting, but still nowhere near as good as the story from the Modern Warfare games. It was still a fun ride none the less and I wouldn't mind playing through it again sometime in the future. The music during the campaign is forgettable and there aren't really any songs that stick out to me, which is sad. Granted, no Call of Duty is known for their soundtracks. Speaking of sound, the guns sound very week and most of them sound like popping popcorn or marshmallows. I've heard better gun sounds from Super Smash Brothers on the N64 than I've heard from this game. Overall, campaign is good, but not great. 6/10 for campaign.

    Multiplayer:
Multiplayer, for me, is the meat and potatoes of any Call of Duty game as of Modern Warfare. Multiplayer is what drives me to come back to the game after beating the campaign to have some fun and kill some time. Sledgehammer promised a lot of things going into this game's multiplayer including the ever elusive, dedicated servers. Unfortunately, this is where the game falls flat on its face! There are no dedicated servers as far as I'm aware and the lag in this game's multiplayer makes the game nearly unplayable! What's worse is that there is Skill Based Matchmaking in the game's multiplayer! On paper, SBMM isn't a bad idea, but the way the developers over at Sledgehammer implemented it into this game's multiplayer was very badly executed! The main problem is that SBMM takes priority over connection when trying to find a multiplayer match! Nine times out of ten, I will be paired up against Mexicans, French people, and some from Spain and Japan to boot! I live in the United States and I should be matched up against people from the US! Now that we have a bad netcode, SBMM, and lack of players for this installment, people have resorted to manipulating the system to get into better lobbies by Reverse Boosting to lower their stats. I'm ok with this because it doesn't affect me. Hell, I've done it myself and I too, have experienced better connection games. The problem with this is that it's frowned upon the community and it'll get you banned. The other problem with SBMM is that people who want to play the game casually can't because everyone is using the most "Try hard" classes possible and they are forced to do the same! That's another thing I find wrong here is the weapon balance. The weapon balance is some of the worse I've ever seen. During the beginning month of Advanced Warfare, everybody and their grandmother was using the BAL-27 assault rifle. Assault rifles dominated this game's multiplayer because all other weapon classes were pea shooters. Sledgehammer did eventually rebalanced some of the weapons, but now everyone uses either the BAL-27 assault rifle or the ASM1sub machine gun. I hear that Sledgehammer will rebalance a lot more weapons within an upcoming patch, but I'm not holding my breath. One more thing I hate is that most score streaks are useless! They hardly get any kills and aren't satisfying to use!

Now that I've gotten the bad things out of my system, it's time to talk about some good things, but they are far and in between. First thing I like, customizable score streaks. I like making my UAV be able to carry on through death and make it detect enemies through walls. It's a nice idea and it was implemented well for the most part. Second, the Supply Drops. Good idea. I like earning weapon variants that can sometimes redeem a bad weapon. If the variant sucks, I can redeem it for XP which is nice. Another thing I like is the virtual firing range. It allows you to try out guns before actually using them in multiplayer matches.

    Multiplayer score wise: 2/10

Overall, this game is the second worst Call of Duty since Call of Duty Ghosts! The campaign is good but it isn't enough to redeem its bad multiplayer! The game had a lot of promises but utterly fall short for what could've been the best Call of Duty ever made.

That'll do it for this review. If you read through the entire review, thank you for taking the time to read it! Bye for now

The exosuits were a good idea, but they come out as a hit and miss. The campaign was alright, though that is mainly due to the good voice acting. The multiplayer is bad once again. It doesn't work as a public game nor as an eSports game. Boosts really hurt the gameplay especially in SnD. Latency and lag issues are worse than they were in Ghosts.

The game looks cool, but it certainly isn't.

I had high hopes for AW and Sledgehammer,I was extremely let down. The Exo suits absolutely ruin this Call of Duty. Now let me explain. This is COD, not Halo, not Titanfall. I almost traded this game in within 2 weeks of buying it but I wanted to give it an honest chance. Now here we are at the end of Feb and although I've become fully used to it I still find this to be an amazing letdown.

The good - Exo movement innovation, vast game types to accommodate what the multiplayer gamers want

The bad - Exo suits as a standard, killstreaks (the worst of any COD), game sound effects (gun shots, reloads, grenades), spawns (4 months in and still awful), game lobby (can't even see other people's stats)

In summary, AW is like a game that comes out after COD. It might be a decent game for your rotation but after 2 months you go back to playing COD exclusively. I'll be going back to Ghosts and BO2 until Treyarch hopefully saves the COD Series this November.

The guns don't feel well balanced, assault rifles are by far superior to all the other weapons, with high damage outputs and laser accuracy. Not sure if the multiplayer is uses hosts or servers, but I constantly find myself with a 1 bar connection, meaning I always seem to shoot last. Also find the teams stacked, on my side or the other, I either do well and get a decent score or shockingly and go negative 10.
I don't get what people are saying in their reviews when they say that 'this is the best looking shooter'. It runs at 60fps, yes, but didn't all the CoDs with their simple style? Battlefield 4 looks far superior to this, which actually looks realistic. To me it's a smoother version of all the past CoD games. I'd happily see a Modern Warefare 2 Redux for the Xbox One, perhaps a Halo:MCC, but consisting of CoD 4, MW2 and MW3. I'd get to play my favourite CoD and Activision can make heaps of cash, we both win! Back to this game...
The genre is tired, laser guns are boring, Titanfall is for mech suits or whatever they're called. Bring it back to current-day tech, or the the past. Those games were fun and believable.
Overall unimpressed, all this has made me do is go blow the dust off my 360 and stick in MW2, which is by far, at least for me, the benchmark, with superior map design a noticeable distinction (What happened to map designs, not been a game I like the maps on since Halo: Reach and MW2). I'm unimpressed frankly, and await to see what rubbish comes out next year, labeled as good purely because of the brand. The only way you can tell if you like this is to play it, as reviewers are always rating Call of Duty games higher than they deserve, in my opinion. This game might deserve higher than my 3, but no way is it IGN's 9 either. Just because the name of the game is CoD doesn't mean it's going to be great.

Distinctly below average, in my humble, humble opinion.

I considered mw3 the worst call of duty of all time and strongly believed no game in this franchise could possibly take its crown, until now. Advanced warfare makes mw3 look like call of duty 4 in comparison, it is a absolute, unconditional disaster with little to no redeeming value.

I considered mw3 the worst call of duty of all time and strongly believed no game in this franchise could possibly take its crown, until now. Advanced warfare makes mw3 look like call of duty 4 in comparison, it is a absolute, unconditional disaster with little to no redeeming value.

Starting with the single player, a 4 hour linear shooter with very little story, just you a gun and mowing down endless "bad guys". The voice acting is excellent, but countless quick time events and no character building lead to an irritating, bland and very forgettable single-player experience. If you buy cod for its single-player(not like anyone does) spending £40 for Kevin Spacey(who is House of Cards, but more militarised) is a waste, spend it on lots of prescription drugs to give to your friends who play the multiplayer.

People may not care about Kevin's wacky antics in the single-player and buy this game solely for it multiplayer experience. Well advanced warfare's multiplayer is so bad it does a disservice to it's licence; the spawns are broken with you constantly being shot almost immediately after you spawn in. There is no gun balance, its Bal-27 or ASM-1 otherwise you will just lose every gunfight to the player using those guns(which is everyone). The maps are terrible too small very little verticality, so no real use to the exosuits. Instead of building a game around the exosuits they built a standard call of duty game and threw them in thinking it would work. There is a good reason Titanfall's maps are big and its not just because they have huge robots fighting in them. But all of these issues become somewhat minor when the hit detection in the game is broken, very broken. Its next gen consoles and still Activision will not fork out the money for dedicated servers, peer to peer is **** will they get the memo? Unlikely. The hit reg does not work you will die with no visual recognition of it, you just fall over; you will be constantly killed through sight lines that are blocked with obstacles or shoot first only for the game to disregard your bullets in favour of your opponents. The whole thing feels like pure luck instead of skill.

The question must be asked is, is it worth your money? With all of the above you can guess absolutely not, maybe if it is was £20, but at its current price definitely not.

I never knew that Call of Duty needed to rip off a game made by its own **** developers. I'll give it credit for realizing that its own formula was growing stale, though. This time, they decided to combine visuals that are so good they physically hurt to look at with gameplay snagged right out of Titanfall to create a masterful work of ****
Advanced Warfare may just well be the best Call

Advanced Warfare may just well be the best Call of Duty game, if only because it tries to be Titanfall. Which was a damn good game, for all of its lack of content. It's just another call of duty run-and-gun antigravity mess, but now you can jump upwards like you've installed commando and attacked the sun, and you can dash to the side. Glad they're taking ideas from both Titanfall, and a flash game from 2001.

So, originality? Not exactly this game's finest. But, to be fair, it works. It's an acceptable game, and it met my low expectations.
TL;DR Literally painful visuals (It isn't **** cinematic, IGN, it looks like the characters have pedalbin trashcans on their heads when they talk. Their mouths flap open like god damn Goat Simulator.), an unoriginal concept that's executed in a boring way, gameplay that is now more **** and less predictable than CoD: Goats, and an acceptably made shooter overall.
Still, this does more than most games at disproving the theory that games can be considered art. I don't think that anyone made ye olde mad stacks by ripping off the Mona Lisa once every **** year.

Played Battlefield 4 and it was mediocre but at least it played on my slightly dated but still reasonable rig. By contrast this game was a frame rate, laggy nightmare. So much so I gave up and walked away. Unless you own a pro gaming rig don't waste your time or money on this one.

The multiplayer maps need work, but otherwise this is the best Call of Duty game in years. [Jan 2015, p.66]

A welcome outsider take on a consistent series, increasing the pace still further in online multiplayer to fantastic effect. However, solo play feels a bit safe in comparison. [Christmas 2014, p.79]
