    Unplayable! No Friends Only parties. No vertical splitscreen. Horrible motion blur. Horrible screen tearing. Sluggish controls with a huge deadzone on a standard PS4 with standard controller.

    I've played all the previous Borderlands games all the way through several times on multiple platforms, including PS4. Loved them! I had to turn this game off after 15 minutes with a serious    Unplayable! No Friends Only parties. No vertical splitscreen. Horrible motion blur. Horrible screen tearing. Sluggish controls with a huge deadzone on a standard PS4 with standard controller.

    I've played all the previous Borderlands games all the way through several times on multiple platforms, including PS4. Loved them! I had to turn this game off after 15 minutes with a serious headache. The onscreen movement is noticeably lagged behind the controller. Even with the deadzone setting turned to 0, there's a pause as you move the sticks, and then the screen suddenly tears and jumps to catch up. After "catching up", the motion blur sets in, and you cannot turn this off. If you change direction, the same pause and jump happens again in the new direction.

    One of the best things about BL's 1-Pre was the Friends Only parties and splitscreen coop, allowing friends to join and leave at any time as they were available. Friends Only is not even available, and the splitscreen is horizontal only, which is like peering through a mailslot on a standard widescreen.

    I will not be playing this game until the video and controller settings are thoroughly patched, assuming 2K is on the snap. In the mean time, this was a waste of $60. Don't buy it!    … Expand

    Game is trash and the support it trash. I just played for 5 hours... crashed... and my character is gone? Getting a refund. **** this game.

    Funny how some people are upset that Borderlands 3 is like previous Borderlands games...
    If you liked previous versions of the game, you will like this one. BL3 was made for fans and it shows. Haters gonna hate.

    This is more of everything you loved about BL2
    I’m having a blast with this game ignore the negative reviews and I’m sorry some people are just hard to please like my ex wife go buy this gem you won’t regret it in my top 5 for game of the year for me well that’s my opinion anyways enjoy !!!!

    I can't believe that they ruined the borderlands franchise like this :( Terrible writing, terrible graphics, terrible gameplay... it doesn't feel like they tried at all, it fells like a halfassed version of BL2 instead of a proper sequel :(

    I just wanted to say this is extremely fun I’m 9 hours in and I’m loving it not sure what all these zero reviews are for I’m so confused no way this is any less then a 7 It’s probably about a 9 but I’m giving it a 10 to offset some of those ridiculous reviews yes is more of the same but that’s not a bad thing at all but this game you won’t regret it !

    The corporate-loyalist mob, driven to anger by vapid social media figures, is precisely what the game sets out to satirize. I'm playing on a PS4 Pro in performance mode, and it runs beautifully. The across-the-board mechanical improvements over BL2 are astounding, and the game is an absolute blast to play.

    Loving it so far. Borderlands 2 was the first game my wife and I really played together (I made her start and now it's one of her favorite series) it's more borderlands with better movement exactly what I was hoping for.

    Hatters going to hate, looters going to loot. its always been a polarizing series. if you like the loot grind and the other games, they you'll like this. its no perfect, but its fun and hook is as solid as ever.

    I am a fan of course but like my gears 5 review never a die hard BL fan. But as a FPS RPG and open world ( better for more diverse locals) action game, sweet. The gameplay is way tighter the story more robust humor is great. If your a fan of BL or looking for a action packed shooter this is it. I’m happy that gaming industry finally reached to were they can update fix and add content.     Borderlands at its best! Gun play is finally really good, and it has just enough elements to feel new but also keep that classic feeling we all love. A must buy for anyone into looter shooters or fans of the series!

    Gearbox has knocked it out of the park yet again by taking all of the good parts of Borderlands 2, throwing them into a blender with a large selection of improvements all across the board, and blending them together into near perfect game.     it is an upgrade from borderlands 2 in every way, on ps4 pro it struggles sometimes to maintain 60fps but overall it is a perfect sequel and a great game. you will have a great time with this game

Everything I want from a sequel: keep what was good, fix what wasn't, and expand on it all. A deeper lore, major quality of life improvements, and the same Borderlands charm you loved from the past games. The game isn't perfect, I did have a glitch moment that launched me into the sky and out of the map, resulting in a swift death. There's also a small bit of lag in the menus, presumably from loading the character model, but I expect these will be patched out relatively soon. Other than that, I have had no problems and absolutely no regrets about getting this game. It only gets a 10 instead of a 9 to help bump it up from the bombers and boycotters.… Expand

    Putting this review up due to the CRYBABIES who are review bombing a game based on split screen not being vertical. Like really this game deserves a 0-3 because of that you entitled brats are delusional. Grow the **** up seriously. Game plays great, does feel like Borderlands 2 but that is a great thing. If it isn't broken don't fix it

    Ps4 Pro. A half broken and outdated game. I can't play it cause it makes me feel sick in all performance modes, I play VR few cases of motion sickness so things have to be terrible for me to have knots in my stomach after 15 minutes and vomit in my mouth if I try to push it further.

    There are no microtransactions, the Skins are all free so far, not unlike Games like Destiny 2 or Anthem. The Gameplay is superb, it plays so well.     The villains don't hold a candle to Jack. He was probably one of if not the best villain of any game I've played. They are formidable but much of their dialogue is just annoying. Writing is a bit lacking compared to BL2 but it's definitely had its moments and isn't bad by any means.

    To those crying over microtransactions. M. BORDERLANDS HAS ALWAYS HAD THAT YA DUMMIES! It's nothing "pay to win" and It's purely cosmetic so I don't understand the issue. TLDR: if you enjoyed BL1 or BL2 you will absolutely love this and must buy. If you were unsure of those games or didn't enjoy them it won't convert you.    … Expand

    Review bombing is a joke. The game has its flaws but you can tell Gearbox put a lot of work into this game and it isn't the slightest bit of a letdown to me. Yes Randy Pitchford is a douche. Don't let that, or the fact that it is an epic game exclusive, ruin it for you.

    Great sequel. Tons of options to make it play like borderlands two. One of the few games to offer subtitle sizing which is a must when doing split screen with the wife. Yes, it has bad frame rate issues at times on PS4 (but on PS4 Pro its not that bad), and yes the loading times are long, sometimes unbearably long. However, giving this game a score of 0 only based on these two things and review bombing it as bad as it is being done right now is extremely childish and petty honestly.As it stands right now, an 8/10 is a strong review for this game.     There are a few Bugs, but nothing they can't Fix. A Worthy successor of Borderlands 2.

    As a big fan of a franchise, I was slowly lowering my expectations after seeing trailers, but did not expect to be that disappointed.
    I'd say that game is not finished by a long shot, because of it's technical problems.
    - I play it at og ps4, and frame rate is horrible.     - texture load not only when map loads, but very often when you approach the objects or even npc, you have to wait a second or two, for texture to load. This can be also easily spoted when aiming at npc or enemies with sniper rifer. Game assumes that you are not close enough to load textures, so you see low res textures
    - game simply doesn't look good. Character and weapon models are in fact improved, but the whole rest is not. It doesn't feel like current generation game

    Story is made without much of a splendor. It's just jumping through different location, without a feeling of a purpose. Even when something 'big' is happening, the game doesn't success in presenting the magnitude of the event.

    As much as I loved borderlands 2, that was 7 years ago. One of the borderlands 3 biggest flaws, is that it resembles too much borderlands 2. Too little things got changed compared to the sequel.

    It still is a fun game once you suffer through technical issues, but it surely is not great, and I'm affraid might destroy or seriously damage the franchise in general. I played all the dlc's of previous borderlands, I don't feel like investing more money into b3. Even if you are borderlands fan, wait for patches and discounts.    … Expand

    Я пытался играть в 1 и 2 борду, так как меня пытались затянуть туда друзья, но ни та ни другая мне почему то не зашли, пресиквел был ничо так, но слишком короткий, чтобы затянуло. Характерно, что играл я при этом на ПК. 3ю борду начал играть на пс4 только за компанию лишним пассажиром, и внезапно, моё херовое умение играть на геймпаде и неприязнь к предыдущим частям не помешала мнеЯ пытался играть в 1 и 2 борду, так как меня пытались затянуть туда друзья, но ни та ни другая мне почему то не зашли, пресиквел был ничо так, но слишком короткий, чтобы затянуло. Характерно, что играл я при этом на ПК. 3ю борду начал играть на пс4 только за компанию лишним пассажиром, и внезапно, моё херовое умение играть на геймпаде и неприязнь к предыдущим частям не помешала мне втянуться в эту игру и я даже не уверен в чем дело, то ли в том что геймплей стал быстрее и живее, за счет появившихся подкатов, новых прикольных свистопердящих пукалок и дохуялиона абилок, или же из за того что 90% локацией не являются пандорой, а является добротным таким набором типичных сайфай локаций, которые однако выглядят вполне весело.
    Из минусов могу отметить только небольшие геймплейные подтормаживания (я играю на пс4 про в режиме производительности, лол) и меню выбора способностей открывается со скоростью открытия порносайтов под VPN, то есть секунд 15-20.
    Я уверен, что в течение ближайших недель выйдут лечебные патчи, так что сильно за технические недоработки оценку не снижаю.
    Подводя итог, эта борда чудесным образом зашла мне первой из 4ёх (пойду проходить тейлсы, так как оттуда добрая часть персонажей) частей, так что вполне возможно что вам эта игра тоже зайдёт.    … Expand

    On base PS4 this game performs about the same as bloodborne for me. People are blowing the performance issues way out of proportion. The game is great and has awesome characters, gunplay and setpieces. The music is also crazy good.

    The Good: Combat has been greatly improved, and I cannot stress it enough. They've added a large variety of enemies,    Borderlands 3 is a mixed bag for sure. While so much of the gameplay had been improved, it seems that everything else dropped the ball. While I thoroughly enjoyed the game, and I personally plan to play much more, I do have to vent my grievances with this installment.

    The Good:

    Combat has been greatly improved, and I cannot stress it enough. They've added a large variety of enemies, especially the Maliwan troops, which have unique ways to change combat and each have their own special ways to deal with them. For example, there are these large flamethrower enemies that come in different elements, and they have an element pack on their back. If you kill the enemy by shooting their head, eventually their element pack will roll on the ground and explode damaging you. However, if you destroy the pack on their back while they are alive, it will instantly kill them and cause it to detonate much earlier.

    Weapons actually have weight to them now, and makes me imagine how great Borderlands 2 would have been with these shooting mechanics. On top of this movement feels much better, with the ability to ground slam, slide, and mantle. Although these aren't new ideas for first person shooters, it definitely is a welcome addition to Borderlands to cut down on how clunky the previous installments felt.

    Most weapons have also been given new identities. Assault rifles are actually good again, and many weapons have been given alternate fire modes that can be as simple a select fire or changing elements, to giving your weapon an extra barrel, or having tasers and under-barrel rockets. On top of this, the game is filled with new and returning legendaries that feel even more unique than the thousands of randomly generated weapons which you'll discover. Although I feel the game gives some of these legendaries away too easily, as main quest rewards, it doesn't really change much as Borderlands 2 had blue unique weapons that were vastly greater and worse than the legendary lineup. Due to the alternative fire modes of many weapons, some of the new legendaries are not just unique in comparison to the rest of the guns in this game, but in any looter-shooter that I've played.

    Character skill trees are varied, unique, and viable. Anyone who played Borderlands 2 after the level cap increases knows how many characters were forced into the most effective skill tree to kill any of the raid bosses, if they were viable at all. Axton was one of my favorite characters who struggled deeply in the late game due to so much of his power coming from kill skills which are difficult to trigger fighting raid bosses. They added skills or class mods that give players the chance of triggering kill skills while shooting bosses, which seems like a small change but can mean the world of a difference.

    The Bad:

    Dear god the story is horrendous. To be fair its not the worst story on paper, but it is told terrible. The two antagonist don't have much of a personality besides obnoxious teenagers, but even after big events happen they don't seem to react at all. They're static the entire time, and I don't expect them to live up to the behemoth that was Handsome Jack, I wish they would try to make the antagonist more than a generic baddie that you have to kill. The other issue I struggled with is that the charm and humor that the other games were known for felt off. I noticed a prevalence of poop jokes, and lack of serious characters to balance out how wacky everyone else acts. In Borderlands 2, you had Lilith, Roland, and Mordecai as your anchors to reality while Brick and Claptrap were trying to be funny. In Borderlands 3, it seems Lilith is the only character who consistently tries to keep the dialogue bearable. There are some good jokes, usually by Hammerlock or Wainwright, but they're only prevalent on the Eden-6 arc of the story. I can go back and replay Borderlands 2 and still laugh at the jokes because 90% of them still hit, but so many of Borderlands 3's jokes miss the mark. I really hope they tone down the silliness in the DLC's or the next installment.

    The other issue I had with the main game is that it felt just a little bit too easy. The most difficult boss in my experience is before the halfway point, and the final boss is a complete and utter joke. The Warrior wasn't the most difficult boss in gaming, but at least it was a spectacle. Borderlands 3's final boss feels like a throwaway boss you create for filler in the beginning. This also leads to my issue with bosses having invincible stages where you have to wait while they buff. It brings the combat to a holt while you wait for your battle to continue. Other bosses that have buff animations usually have damage mitigation while they buff, so that you still feel like you are doing something.

    The Verdict:

    If you enjoyed the gameplay of Borderlands 2, you're going to love Borderlands 3. Just don't expect a good story or good jokes    … Expand

    The game is nearly unplayable as is. I only buy Borderlands because of the couch coop feature. I cant speak for single player, but in split screen mode it's just nothing but frame drops and lag. It should be criminal to release a game like this. I spent $60+ and cannot play it .

Play on a PS4 Pro and settings on performance and have had no troubles so far, that's not to say that there could be no problems I am just saying I have experienced no problems.     I've had an absolute blast so far playing this game with friends. For me, the laggyness is apparent when you are in the maps or the menus. It is quite laggy but it is not game breaking for me. The gun play is incredibly fluid. I am sure that the menus issue can be patched.

    Really, like a 7.5. I never really played the borderlands series before, but I'm enjoying this on PS4. It is by no means perfect. The writing is pretty "meh" and the controls feel a little mushy/unresponsive, but I've adjusted. Overall, I've had fun with it and that is all that really matters. Not perfect, but fun and silly.

    if you like boarderlands 2 you will love boarderlands 3. a lot of the same but different in a good way with quality of graphics, fighting and dialogue. unfortunately we need a patch asap to fix a handful of bugs. this is my favorite 1st person shooter of all time.

I'm playing on a standard PS4, and playing with 30fps isn't great at all. BL3 is such dynamic game, and 30 fps makes me feel retarded while playing it.     Completely in love with this game. Played it on the ps4 pro did not have any issues with gameplay. Not too sure about the story but I bought Borderlands 3 for the gameplay and it does not fail their. Gun play is amazing with a whole heap of guns to choose from . If playing split screen is not important to you this is a great game to play and you most definitely will enjoy it.

    The hatetrain is well and strong here. The graphics are better, I am on ps4 and performance has no issue whatsoever. The loot is amazing, and guns feel great! What is the problem of the low reviews?!? This might be one of the best follow-ups to any series that I know.

    There are linear quests that open up briefly to open worlds before shoving you down narrow paths one after another, the open world aspect barely exists, the weapons are bland and more or less just stat sticks, gone are the days of unique weapons with cool innovations. mob spawns dump you right in the middle of fights and you can't really effectively pick off mobs with sniper rifles as they sway heavily, often times direct hits with them don't count as i've put 5 or 6 headshots into a mob with every single one showing a effect of hitting the wall directly behind his head, this also applies to when they are behind cover. Making sniping near worthless.

    The classes are bland and the skills are again just various stat boosts no real innovative ways to build characters just min maxing stats and its boring as hell.

    The story is atrocious as the main villains are literally youtubers, its like they were trying to make a statement about how they hate them especially given how they have been sending literal thugs illegally to youtubers houses before the game released to try and intimidate them. The dialogue is so incredibly cringey its like they didn't even hire writers, the jokes are bad and unfunny in every way, your favorite characters have been butchered in bland pointless characters and the deaths in the game that should feel meaningful don't even hit a single emotional beat as by that point in the game you've probably checked out like i did. IT felt less like a story and more like fetch quest the game.

    The is so little enemy variation, prior games did a dance between wildlife, bandits, aliens and unique bosses to keep things fresh. The wildlife is barely in the game and the monsters / aliens all play the same as do the bosses, everything feels the same like your grinding the same first stage over and over and over infinitely. It gets so old so fast specially given the lack of ways to play and the lackluster weapons.

    This is like how borderlands 2 the prequel felt like it has lost its touch a bit but this one full on derailed and has no magic left. If your into repetitive boring, grind fests while playing a bullet sponge as you literally sit in the open and pick off enemies then this game is for you. They have literally downgraded or outright destroyed every aspect of what made 1 and 2 great, I mean I got to level 20 skipping every side after the first few as they were just terrible, repetitive shooting galleries and when I got to 20 I realized, why am I playing this game? I'm literally not having any fun and the more I play the more I hate it as the effort put in only seems to go down the further you get in the game. Thats not even getting into the woke elements that I don't care to have shoved down my throat when I play a video game.

    Congrats gearbox you've taken a incredible game and literally run it into the ground with unoriginal ideas and milked the franchise dry. I won't be buying another 2k or gearbox game again, this feels like duke nukem forever or fallout 76 levels of crap. DO NOT BUY THIS    … Expand

    Sweet game! At least the single player. People complaining about multiplayer idk if it's as bad as they say as far lag and split screen but everything else in the game is fantastic. Highly recommend. Most games I put down after 2 hours. I didnt even realize I've been playing for like 9 hours. I only stopped playing now because I am hungry and tired!

    I play on a PS4 Pro with external SSD. Game settings are set to Performance. No problems at all.

    Fairly solid overall game. Great gunplay. Usual borderlands humor, but more modern topics.

    There is some bugs and lag with menus that should be resolved, but did take a point off for poor testing.

    It's a shame it is getting review bombed due to Steam

    I read people complaining about technical issues but I have not experienced any and I have played it every day since release. As for the cry babies whining about split screen not being what they wanted, it was all shown in pre-release videos, so perhaps they should have paid more attention..
    All in all, an excellent game which I continue to enjoy.

The solo campaign is absolutely superb, and not that I think it really matters if a game has a couple of glitches on release day, but I haven't even encountered any glitches. Guns feel and look good. Feels like an expansion like Halo 3: ODST, not a sequel. Jokes are hit and lots of misses. Overall its really not that funny. I should probably grind to another level before I can beat this guy but thats just not cool. If i made it all this way through the campaign, I should be able to beat the boss.     Juegazo. Si! El juego no va a 60fps. Rondara los 50. Con un parche se solucionara. Me parece un juego muy divertido con mucha jugabilidad, muy borderland 2. Armas infinitas, planetas que explorar, las camaras... etc. Recomendable 100% no hagais caso a las malas puntuaciones, compraloslo y punto

    My first Borderlands-game. Played about 30+ hours. Mostly I like the humor, dirty-minded and rancid things and I've always been a crazy fan of looter games. Comic style graphics - not a fan with those but fits like a charm to this type of game. Not any major bugs, seems very solid and well-tested game. Some fps drops with normal PS4, still very playable.     The landscape of gaming has changed a lot since Borderlands first arrived. #3 doesn't do anything to adapt or invent anything, and that's okay. However, in terms of humor and story, Borderlands 3 is woeful garbage. It's such a silly premise, and could be a really engaging and fun story, but instead its hard headed, mean and regressive.     More guns, more planets, more skills, more… more. If you liked the previous ones, this gives you plenty of the same to enjoy. Borderlands 3 is the very definition of the bigger and better sequel. [Issue#168, p.76]

    Factor in the graphical glitches, rampant texture pop-in and generally asthmatic performance levels, even when running on a PS4 Pro with settings optimised to favour smooth running, and there really is no end of reasons not to love Borderlands 3 (and don’t even think about Googling developers Gearbox Games’ litany of employee relations history)...And yet... love it, I do. Guilty as charged.
