    Playing on PS4 Pro, cous my friends bought it for the PS4, well, there is literally 0 optimization done on the PS4/PS4 Pro. PS4 Pro performance mode fps: around 25-40 and in some areas it's 50-60. PS4 Pro Resolution mode fps: around 10-30 fps. (mostly 10-20 fps) Don't buy the game in this state, wait for some fixes (bugs and performance).    Story: 6, Gameplay: 8, Performance: 1.

    FINALLY a worthy Borderlands 2 Sequel!

    For this review, I'm going to ignore the bugs until necessary, as talk about the ones I encountered, but the issues can detrimental I played online with friends and the amount of lag and issues we had was crazy Two more, less impactful bugs I encountered were a bit annoying.     Two more, less impactful bugs I encountered were a bit annoying. A lot must be happening in the menu's because it lags like **** It's so annoying to navigate because of the lag, but that's an XB1 issue, I'm not sure how it compares to other systems. But I seriously don't like customizing my weapons because the amount of time it is to re-customize every weapon is too long

    Another one that has always been present is that enemies will sometimes glitch under the floor, not allowing you to progress.

    Anyway how's the game.

    Humour:
    It's funny, and not just a string of jokes like BLTPS was. This game brings back those weird and great characters that are funny from their existence. Working off other characters to great consistent enjoyable and funny dialogue. And it's actually used really well. One moment is a hard-hitting cutscene...it's all intense...it's so moody then 30 seconds later you're laughing about that same situation because it's been re-contextualized, or it's that same scene has been made fun off. Or that scene is poking fun at the storey events, you won't always laugh, but you'll always smile with this game. Also the number of self-references hit just right and is great, laughing at yourself so you can laugh with the players.

    Fixes:
    If you've played the other Borderlands games you'll know of the annoying things like not being able to access skills in vehicles. But this game fixes it. Generally, there's so much more, a PROPER sequel to Borderlands. You can customize weapons with skins (In-game currency don't worry) If you play FL4K or Zane you'll have some interesting skill choices to make (You can have two skills on Zane, and you choose between a pet on FL4K) Better hub and environments, and the gun manufacturers. Holy **** they fixed the guns. Assualt rifles are worth using now. Each manufacturer is so much more unique, their designs are more clearly designed, and the abilities of your guns have more variety, Every loot drop is more exciting than ever.

    The gameplay is great, music and environment and outstanding, the writing is on par from what you expect from a great Borderlands game (BL2 & TftB) there's so much new great things, amazing things, i haven't had so much fun playing Borderlands since 2012 with my first BL2 playthrough, if you're a Borderlands fan, pick this up. If you're not a Borderlands fan, keep this on your "to get" list. It's great, the only things bad about this game is the bugs, my experience has been mostly clean, but others has been awful, having their data wiped and you should definitely do a little research on the bugs of this game to make sure you don't get ****ed over

    The negative reviews are from bugs, bugs oh so bugs, they shouldn't be ignored, a game with bugs is just as bad as a game with bad gameplay, but you should know the score is only so low because of reviews with the bugs, it might honestly be worth checking up on the updates and waiting until this game gets patched.    … Expand

    I'm not far into the game, only beat the 2nd boss and completed a bunch of side missions, game is really fun so far. Same tight gunplay and cool abilities the franchise is known for, but with even cooler guns. If you weren't a fan before, just skip this. Game runs perfectly fine on my ps4 slim, I'm assuming all the 0-2 scores and from the salty PC fanboys who keep crying about the Epic launcher.

    Borderlands 3 is an absolutely great addition to the series. Everything that made the series fantastic in previous installments has either been brought back or improved upon. There may be a few small issues, like the frame rate during split-screen, but those small issues can easily be fixed in patches. A fantastic game that will get even greater as cross play and expansions are released.

    Honestly, outside of the bad fps at times and bad resolution mode, the game is fantastic. Story is good, gunplay is great. Highly recommend.

    dont listen to the bad reviews , the game is very good. It takes time to see the depht of the game (builds,guns and stuff) but if ull play at least 5 hours , ur probably goyng to get hoocked .

    Worst borderland game ever. The game said to be in development for 7 years and now it is finally released but it looks like it needed some time more to spend in development because this game is really unplayable. Not worth it's price

    Besides the horrible lag while on splitscreen with my son the game has twice just shutdown my ps4.. never had that issue with another game... this game is unfinished and was released prematurely... Im more disappointed than angry as I purchased the 100 dollar version for my son on his 15th birthday... we enjoyed the remastered Borderlands 1 and you would think 2k would have released aBesides the horrible lag while on splitscreen with my son the game has twice just shutdown my ps4.. never had that issue with another game... this game is unfinished and was released prematurely...     I do not believe that people have problems with optimization. The text in the settings can be done more. I have a PS4 Slim Gran Turismo Limited Edition fps drops very rarely and it is mainly in the inventory menu. I had already completed this game and I liked everything. No wonder I waited 7 years. I think the negative reviews are related to the release of the game in EGS

    This is a sad day for BL fans, as me and my wife have been fans and played all the way from the release of BL1 and BL2+pre-sequel with many hours and days with both rage (because she loots everything the second it drops) and laughs from the brilliant story to its amazing coments and humoristic moments. We had to agree to not using the menues when the other was in a fight because of the 1-2 sec lag spike when we switched menues eg. From inventory to skills menu. Its a shame that these kinds of issues should appear in 2019 on a ps4 pro console pluss the insane amount of money we spent for the premium deluxe edition to be left with an unplayable mess. One issue could have been easy to fix had they only had the foresight to use the same settings as in the previous BL games, the second is a bit harder to fix. So to Gearbox i say, don't release a game untill its playable and to 2K i say its sad to see that the fans an customers fall at the bottom of the money-making totempole.     A solid 8 that summarizes how cool that game is. The tone, graphics, weapons, vehicles, and original content is totally worth experiencing this game. Unfortunately, you ll have to edit the controls sensibility by yourself. The 2 players offline coop is cool but super laggy at times (when enemies show up). Your eyes will take a hit. I trust that a patch will arrive soon enough to fix lags,A solid 8 that summarizes how cool that game is.     All of those 0 reviews are a load of crap. This game is perfectly playable. I’ve been playing on a PS4 pro and seem to be doing just fine. There were 2 times in the 20+ hours where the menu lagged (maybe 1/2 a second). The frame rate does drop sometimes but not to an unplayable level and it doesn’t seem to happen often. I’m sure that will be fixed soon. The only loading times that annoy meAll of those 0 reviews are a load of crap. This game is perfectly playable.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game was fun for the first two days of playing (Friday, Saturday, 20 hours) but then I started to encounter the glitches around Eden 6. From quest markers under the map to FLYING INTO OUTER SPACE, I saw it all.
    I was optimistic despite the boring villains and unneeded death of Maya. But then I get to the end. The destroyer becomes a tiny boss and then Lilith after getting her powers back kills herself destroying the last bit of presequel left. The moon.
    So ultimately the game is fun yet broken currently but the story feels like a terrible continuation from Jack.    … Expand

    Its honestly amazing. I have not bin able to stop playing. I play solo i have no issues so idk if its just a co-op problem others are having. But i highly recomend it. I honestly think people are being way to harsh. I play offline idk if that matters. But i love it.

    Awesome game. Havent had any of the tech issues that others have been experiencing and so far I am having a blast playing it.
    The skill points and how to use em are a little convoluted but just picking up the sticks and shooting is a breeze.

    Almost unplayable due to the massive lag & horrible Coop setup.
    I hate day one patches, but in this case I wouldn't mind because it would have meant that I could actually play the game. Paying $110 for what is basically a good looking Power Point presentation is unacceptable.

It is far more laggy in split screen as well, so I do agree with a lot of the reviews in that the split screen co-op in this game is largely unplayable, which is a big disappointment as my roommate and I were looking forward to this, because we played that way in BL2. My thoughts on the game follow.

    Borderlands 3 is just borderlands 2 but more of it, and for this game, that is fine. The jokes are mostly the same as they were before: Porta Potty prisons that turn into poop rockets with people trapped inside, people acting very serious and killing each other over mundane things like coffee, annoying robots etc. The gameplay and story beats are mostly the same as well. Find new guns, kill a bunch of stuff, old playable vault hunter characters showing up just like in the last one.
    For me, none of that is an issue. All I wanted was more borderlnds and that is what I got. I am enjoying the game. The online co-op works well, the character classes are interesting and fun to play.

    As to all the other critiques about lag, I really wish I could confirm them for you, but I can't. I have no idea what kind of set ups these are are running on. The game doesn't lag for me on PS4 Pro. It runs very smooth. There is some lag, on occasion, in the skill menu. It does a whole shiny animation for you characters skill trees that has slowed down the menu for me on more than one occasion, but only right when you open the menu, and it is hardly an issue at all. Certainly not gamebreaking lag.

    Overall, Im giving this game a 9 out of 10 so far. It has minor issues and doesnt reinvent the wheel but from what I've played its more borderlands. It does what its supposed to and it does it well, and that is what I wanted.    … Expand

    Ужасный запуск. Лаги меню Эхо, сильнейшие просадки fps, тормозящие и даже порой несрабатывающие скрипты ( один раз даже из за бага невозможно было закончить сайдквест). Поставил оценку больше еденицы только по тому что очень ждал эту игру,да и всё остальное на уровне,кроме технического исполнения. У игры большие проблемы в техническом плане,ужасные.Ужасный запуск. Лаги меню Эхо, сильнейшие просадки fps, тормозящие и даже порой несрабатывающие скрипты ( один раз даже из за бага невозможно было закончить сайдквест). Поставил оценку больше еденицы только по тому что очень ждал эту игру,да и всё остальное на уровне,кроме технического исполнения. У игры большие проблемы в техническом плане,ужасные.

    This game is awful. No vertical split screen for co-op. Constantly lagging. Interface is a mess. Why not keep it the same as 1&2 with new story? This game absolutely sucks. Huge waste of money

    The bugs in this game are overwhelming and the frame rate is shocking. You have a constant stream of annoying chatter from literally everyone, whom seem to believe that its an open mic night at dingy comedy club. The combat is okay but just feels like im playing Apex with a worse interface though. In the end it is just a worse version of borderlands 2 and I would recommend you play thatThe bugs in this game are overwhelming and the frame rate is shocking.     I can't believe that they ruined the borderlands franchise like this :( Terrible writing, terrible graphics, terrible gameplay... it doesn't feel like they tried at all, it fells like a halfassed version of BL2 instead of a proper sequel :(

    As a HC Borderlands fan this is 7 years of waiting fulfilled. Gameplay and humor is still there. So far no bugs or major fps drops on PS4Pro. I’ve proceeded too fast and now it’s too hard cause I’m fighting enemies 3-4lvl above me and getting gear that is over my lvl, but that is my own fault.
    I'm lovin' it!

    I'd wait a while before buying, when it's bundled with all the upcomming dlc and will be patched a bit.

    Why are is vertical split screen not an option? I honestly feel offended that gear box over looked this feature. Borderlands was one of the only games you could literally sit down next to your friends (In Person not online) and play a Good Co-op game, please don’t ruin this for us. My wife is heart broken.

    Don't trust the haters, if you like Borderlands 2, fon't hesitate. This one is not so much diffrerent but bigger, better. Not perfect but it is a real pleasure to find a new Borderlands. For the haters, please respect the workers who made this game and respect the truth ...

    I'm playing on a PS4 Pro and it is exactly what I wanted. More and refined Borderlands, it's Excellent! Frame drops in huge battles doesn't bother me as much and hopefully we get a patch for that.

    Я пытался играть в 1 и 2 борду, так как меня пытались затянуть туда друзья, но ни та ни другая мне почему то не зашли, пресиквел был ничо так, но слишком короткий, чтобы затянуло. Характерно, что играл я при этом на ПК. 3ю борду начал играть на пс4 только за компанию лишним пассажиром, и внезапно, моё херовое умение играть на геймпаде и неприязнь к предыдущим частям не помешала мнеЯ пытался играть в 1 и 2 борду, так как меня пытались затянуть туда друзья, но ни та ни другая мне почему то не зашли, пресиквел был ничо так, но слишком короткий, чтобы затянуло. Характерно, что играл я при этом на ПК. 3ю борду начал играть на пс4 только за компанию лишним пассажиром, и внезапно, моё херовое умение играть на геймпаде и неприязнь к предыдущим частям не помешала мне втянуться в эту игру и я даже не уверен в чем дело, то ли в том что геймплей стал быстрее и живее, за счет появившихся подкатов, новых прикольных свистопердящих пукалок и дохуялиона абилок, или же из за того что 90% локацией не являются пандорой, а является добротным таким набором типичных сайфай локаций, которые однако выглядят вполне весело.
    Из минусов могу отметить только небольшие геймплейные подтормаживания (я играю на пс4 про в режиме производительности, лол) и меню выбора способностей открывается со скоростью открытия порносайтов под VPN, то есть секунд 15-20.
    Я уверен, что в течение ближайших недель выйдут лечебные патчи, так что сильно за технические недоработки оценку не снижаю.
    Подводя итог, эта борда чудесным образом зашла мне первой из 4ёх (пойду проходить тейлсы, так как оттуда добрая часть персонажей) частей, так что вполне возможно что вам эта игра тоже зайдёт.    … Expand

Each one feels genuinely different from the others because of the abilities on offer, unfortunately, that's where my positivity for this game ends. A slide was added, a mantle mechanic that only works sometimes, and locking badass levels until campaign completion are the only new things I've encountered so far, making it to Sanctuary where the framerate dipped to the low 20's while talking to an NPC, and never went back up. At the end of the day, this game feels painfully average because as good as the gunplay is, it does not outweigh the cons nor can it carry the entire game. if it ran correctly and didn't have horrible bugs every five minutes, I would give it a 6/10.    … Expand

    Completely in love with this game. Played it on the ps4 pro did not have any issues with gameplay. Not too sure about the story but I bought Borderlands 3 for the gameplay and it does not fail their. Gun play is amazing with a whole heap of guns to choose from . If playing split screen is not important to you this is a great game to play and you most definitely will enjoy it.

    On base PS4 this game performs about the same as bloodborne for me. People are blowing the performance issues way out of proportion. The game is great and has awesome characters, gunplay and setpieces. The music is also crazy good.

    The character are awesome and the game looks great too. Tons of Loot attached to meaty ass gunplay. Story still feels a little choppy at times but giving a perfect score to counteract the review bombing.

    LOVE the guns in this game and progression always feels perfectly paced. The boss fights are crazy good and blew me away. Tina is also amazing.

    Don't listen to the review bombers. This game is fantastic. If you're a veteran or new to the series, you should absolutely pick it up. Sure, it's got a couple of hiccups. For example, sometimes the menus lag, but it's nothing gamebreaking and will probably fixed with a patch soon. This game is an absolute blast

    This game is amazing, I've played over 20+ hours already and love it.
    I am playing on the PS4 Slim and have not experienced any frame drops, glitches or any controller delay.
    My console is fairly new as I bought it for Spider-man so I have a feeling all of the issues that are being reported are down to the console being old, damaged or because the console is overheating.

    I dont knoe why people giving this game 0-2. It really is a awesome game. Yes it is just like BL2, but just more. I play on the standaard PS4 and got no lag at all. Playing with a friend and already lvl 29. The game is a blast cant stop playing.

    Then borderlands 3 comes out, I was excited about the game enough to pre-order it so I could pre download it. Launch day comes and... disappointment... disappointment nearly everywhere.

    Now I will confess I am a PC gamer, so maybe its because I play on PC and therefore I am use to higher framerates, but jumping jesus Christ, I swear bloodborne has a more steady and higher framerate than this game does.

    So say you are a fan of the borderlands series, what would you say is one of the most important things about playing a borderlands game... Are you a fan of handsome jack and think story is important? Or do you want to get the top quality loot to kill things even faster? Well what if I said just being about to shoot basic enemies would be a good start. Thats right, this game has such low FPS (frame per second) and such high input lag (I guess anywhere from .5-1.5 seconds) that shooting enemies is nearly impossible. I have a better chance of firing from the hip and moving left and right than aiming down any sight whatsoever. Snipers, assault rifles, SMG, pistols, anything with a scope is useless because as soon as you aim your FPS drops even worse than the game normally plays at, adding in the input lag, and your better off just using melee to kill enemies.

    Well maybe that just me right, maybe I have just **** luck or even just a **** player, which the second isnt true as I am a borderlands veteran and have done basically anything I can in 2 and pre sequal. But maybe shooting isnt everything right, the games have always about making you feel like a badass, by making each character broken in their unique way...

    Well that isnt true for Amara (the siren character) which is the first and probably only character I will play. Maya was the siren in Borderlands 2 and was one of my favorites to play. Able to deal large amounts of status effects (fire, shock, corrosive, slag), lock enemies is stasis allowing your team to deal with them, healing teammates ect.

    All I have seen with Amara's skills are special ability (I chose the one in the shock tree which sends a projection of myself in a straight line to deal damage) and basically every skill I dont even notice during combat. I got a skill allowing me to gain "rush" stacks by killing enemies or inflicting them with a status effect, which boosts my ultimate damage (if you can hit the damn thing with the low fps). Every other skill I see in the tree doesnt even begin to fill me with excitement. Its all boring crap you would skip over in other trees. Its things like "gain more accuracy and crit damage a few seconds after using my ult"... wow I am absolutely overjoyed, now the few times I can hit someone my damage might go up by a grand total of 5 points. I am so glad I am putting points into this. This is most of the skill I can see too, nothing has the same impact as say Maya's cloud kill (after the path) that makes you go "wow this skill is broken and I love it" . You just keep putting points in skills till hopefully something interesting opens up.

    Going back to the badass aspect of the game, some of my favorite things to do in borderlands 2 is take a prized legendary gun, and go on a rampage killing enemies as easily as I breathe oxygen. Sniping enemies with zero and getting 100k damage on a crit is satisfying as hell... Well you can say goodbye to that because that will never happen in this game. Even enemies that are on your level never die from just one hit? 1,3,5,7,10? Does it depend on the gun?

    Nope, when we are talking about how many rounds it take to down a single enemy we arent talking about single rounds, we are talking about entire magazines. Thats right, you will dump dozens of rounds into a single guy to drop them. I thought I was on a higher difficulty or something, so I checked in the setting and found I was playing on normal, which I assumed was the same difficulty as borderlands 2, the same game I mastered and can go through up to true vault hunter mode and not die in. Even knocking the difficulty down to easy doesnt help much.

    So what about the small things? Menu input lag is unreal... its UI it shouldnt take 10 seconds for my map to show up. Badasses spawn rate is way to high to low levels, and the weapons they drop are garbage... in fact, most of the weapons you find even on badasses are gray, you are lucky to get a green or even a blue rarity weapon. weapon stats text can get stuck or be unreadable due to the box appearing above your camera vision.    … Expand

    Already played 20 hours of time in the game, considering that only 3 days have passed since the release. I can say that it was not in vain that we waited 5 years for this part. She's awesome. Unless you can complain about it, it's for poor optimization both on the Slim version and on the Pro. ECHO is very lagging on the slime.

    The lack of vertical splitscreen has made the best co-op game on the market now a total disaster. For those of us that actually like to play with another human being, in the same room even, Gearbox and 2k have really messed up. Spend that $100 on dinner and a movie.

    if you like boarderlands 2 you will love boarderlands 3. a lot of the same but different in a good way with quality of graphics, fighting and dialogue. unfortunately we need a patch asap to fix a handful of bugs. this is my favorite 1st person shooter of all time.

Apparently making an old machine render two next-gen games simultaneously doesn't produce great results. Lol... People are silly. The game is amazing. Don't listen to the trolls. My chief irritation with this game is the writer who seems to only want to represent women & gays positively and disparage on men. Especially white straight men. Most protagonists are female.     Really, like a 7.5. I never really played the borderlands series before, but I'm enjoying this on PS4. It is by no means perfect. The writing is pretty "meh" and the controls feel a little mushy/unresponsive, but I've adjusted. Overall, I've had fun with it and that is all that really matters. Not perfect, but fun and silly.

    If you are into BL2 this game does not disappoint. Everything you expect and more. The only negative is that there are some enemies one shot you and are extremely hard to best even tough you are several levels more than the quest level. But it does not matter in the big picture!, awesome game!

    Sweet game! At least the single player. People complaining about multiplayer idk if it's as bad as they say as far lag and split screen but everything else in the game is fantastic. Highly recommend. Most games I put down after 2 hours. I didnt even realize I've been playing for like 9 hours. I only stopped playing now because I am hungry and tired!

    I love borderlands due to couch co op. And right now its unplayable. The type is so small you cant read anything. The only way I can see an enemy due to field of vision is when a red bar appears because I actually hit something .

    finally borderlands after presequel has finally gotten what it deserve . This game feel more advance and modern and yet so similar with the others .     Im already pretty far in the game and have encountered no bugs or anything that everyone is complaining about ( i did not try coop splitscreen so cant comment if it is as broken ad everyone says). However, im still on my launch day ps4 from like what, 5 years ago now, and have not a single glitch or bug or soft lock or long menu screen or anything ive seen people complain about. Ive did play all the borderland games before it but have never sunk as many hours as others have, so this game still feels fresh to me. The gameplay is really fun, missions are borderlands type missions, guns are awesome, characters are cool, essentially its borderlands 3... If you just want to play more borderlands, then thats what you have. If you are someone whos played enormous amounts of hours of borderlands, maybe you will have something way too familiar on your hands here. Overall im really having fun with the game and am surprised of all the problems everyone is having with the game and the reviews that are being given. Looking forward to see how the endgame plays out after i finish the campaign but im sure it will be fine and the DLCs will deliver as well!… Expand

    THE FONT SIZE IS AS SMALL AS THE FRAME RATES ON CO-OP. Not only is it laggy on a ps4 pro, but they also removed 4 player couch co-op. it rewards you like a mobile game. claptrap is shrill and is a forced imitation. the ai is braindead at level 39. This concludes my ted talk

    It is really a shame that a game that I would have loved, is poorly optimized, therefore souring the whole experience, im on PS4, and the controller feels horrible, really sad, please dont buy it yet until they fix all of its issues.     Made it to Promthea. Then the crashes started. On ps4pro. Couch co op is broken. Please fix asap.

    So I have played Boarderlands 1 2 and the pre-sequel. This game has added alot of small changes as well as new macanics and story that works well. there may be a few glitches and drops in framerate but it is a large game with obly being out 2 days it is not a problem. the only glitches are visual glitches and the franerate drop both should get fixed by updates soon but the game is stillSo I have played Boarderlands 1 2 and the pre-sequel.     More guns, more planets, more skills, more… more. If you liked the previous ones, this gives you plenty of the same to enjoy. Borderlands 3 is the very definition of the bigger and better sequel. [Issue#168, p.76]

    Factor in the graphical glitches, rampant texture pop-in and generally asthmatic performance levels, even when running on a PS4 Pro with settings optimised to favour smooth running, and there really is no end of reasons not to love Borderlands 3 (and don’t even think about Googling developers Gearbox Games’ litany of employee relations history)...And yet... love it, I do. Guilty as charged.
