The game goes out of its way with all the politically correct silliness that has ravaged so many games and other forms of entertainment lately. The ending is dreadful, and it crashes pretty regularly. I was expecting a Viking game, and didn't really get one. This will most definitely be my last assasins creed game.

The game has too many bugs the animation of the characters is like games from ps2. In all a poor development of Odyssey. Less quantity and more quality who better .

If you want a decent experience, go for Origins or Odyssey. A lot of the secondary missions cannot be completed due bugs, the game is full of vissual glitches including bosses flying and enemies walking on walls. Bad response comands and the combat overall is a downgrade form previous games.

Buggy piece of **** Have lost data 4 times (hours of play) regardless of how many times the game saves, or I manually save. This was a rushed job, and it really shows. Tons of other bugs apart from this, do they even bother testing their games. TRASH.

Assassin's Creed is back, better than ever! Well, okay it's not best AC game (that would be AC 4), but it's still great and way better than Odyssey. I'm not able to understand why someone would say that they like Odyssey more. I guess these people don't like actual Assassin's Creed? Assassin's Creed: Valhalla restored my faith in Ubisoft. I was really worried after Ghost Recon Breakpoint. It's actually understandable that all their games can't be hits, because they have so many studios working on different games, so no wonder some of these games are great and some are not.

Amazing game, after last update there is absolutely no excuse for anyone to hate this game, because Ubisoft has done so much. They added new difficulty option, so you can play exactly like old games and assassinate even highest level enemies with one hit. Anyone who still hates on this game from now on, is just whiny loser who wants attention.

Assassins Creed is my favrotie series of all time, so im harder on this series than I am with any other game.. and while Valhalla is a great game and my score will reflect that, as an assassins creed game, assassins creed Valhalla isa complete disappointment.
Here you play as avore, becauseubisoft cares more about its precious sales you chose either man version or female version because ubisoft is afraid to commit and want to make everyone happy.. you set off on a Viking adventure to basically take over England during the dark ages.. and sadly this is more of a Viking game with assassins creed mechanics rather than an assassins creed game where you play as a Viking, the lore of the Templars and the assassins is there.. infct the whole uncovering the order side thing odyssey had going on is valhallas main focus, and I love that… however the game built around it is the most hallow money grab of a game in probably the entire assassins creed series… they sold you on Vikings, rob and pillage, this is fun about 0 times, its never fun going into an area for a raid, opening chests and collecting all of the loot, its repetive and bland, and that can be said for the entire game… im one to uncover every inch of an assassins creed game, read very document, platinum it.. but assassins creed Valhalla is so hollow that I found myself skipping through a lot of its dialog as the story is broken up into individual kingdoms you go out and help… this is less of an assassins creed game, you know.. a game where you relive memories of someone that was supposed to have actually existed to learn more about the orer and the places of the pieces of edden, and just a boring Viking game where you go from kingdom to kingdom taking care of that kingdoms individual problems, it’s a 70 hour long game of individual mini stories that by themselves could be okay experiences, but in an assassins creed game they feel like a waste of time not adding anything to the overall world of assassins creed, no one will remember Valhalla as a step forward for the series, infact in a lot fof places Valhalla steps back, for example its loot, there is next to none, yet you still collect it from time to time, its such an awkward system that you forget there are other weapons and armorus you can pick up.. youll mpost likely stick to the first or second piece of gear you find in the game and stick to that all the way through, especially thanks to the grind heavy upgrading system here that require a ridiculous amount of recourses to upgrade weapons… where Valhalla steps forward though is you making choices that actually matter, your choices have consequences, you have different paths with different characters you can go down that don’t feel empty like odyssey did.. but back to the intial point, this is great if assassins creed were an rpg seres set in different time periods… but its not, its meant to be an experience of a story already told, not an unwritten story of your grandpa and you get to chose if he banged other Vikings or not… tell me if avor was gay or not, don’t let me chose, again.. commit to a character, tell me their story… this is not a solution to the story telling critques players have.. this is assassins creed, not dragon age.. tell me the story as it happened… but this is thebiggest assins creed game to date, though bigger isn’t always better, another first, this s the first time I gave up on collecting all the things in an assassins creed game, for one,, again the world felt boring pointless and hallow, even the side quests that were supposed to be the talk of the town, except for the mini game orlog, it had its hooks in me like gwent, and I love hunting down the zealots of the land, bringing my back to the original assassins creed.. but the colelctables here, the game just makes you work too hard to get, one too many are locked behind story progress – why even put it on the map then… and evry other one ios locked behing an environment puzzle.. I don’t mind this eveyr once in a while , but map cleaning in assassins creed is a form of meditation, if I have to figure out how to get to literally every chest in the world, it isn’t meditation anymore, it’s a puzzle game outside of the story, no thanks. Also traversal here is probably the worst in the series too, its wakward, plenty pof annoying deaths at the hands of climbing, The biggest disappointment overall is this games story, the worst ending in history if you can even call it an ending and the outside of the animus world features the least likably protagonist of all time, smoking doesn’t make you look like a badass, it makes you look inconsiderate of the people around you, but again, assassins creed Valhalla is a great game, the combat is fun, you can go down different paths to play the way you prefer, brute, ranged, stealth, or a mix of all 3…

This could have been a masterpiece, but it's like those hollywood epics that want to show everyone that they provide the bang for your buck and ending up being 30 minutes longer than needed. Valhalla is just like 20 hours longer than needed. Other than that it's easily one of the best AC games.

I had a lot of fun with this one. I really felt the story and side-characters were fun and well-developed, and there were so many different things to do an explore on the map.

My only complaints are that A) the graphics got a bit janky at times, and B) they somehow managed to come up with a side activity MORE annoying than paper-chasing, in the form of the Cairn Stacking Challenges.

You could still kill off enemies that were too high for you. This game on hard mode or beyond, does not reward skill. But instead, punishes you for trying to take on much harder enemies. The story is the best part of this game, definitely better than Origins' and Odyssey's, it is nothing awesome, but it's a good and solid story, especially the ending. However, the characters are very uninteresting, bland and not a little charismatic, what makes them pretty much forgettable. Also, all the characters in this game, viking, english or from anywhere else, can speak the same language and understand each other, what totally breaks the immersion of the game. The graphics are good in current gen, nothing to complain. The soundtrack is good too, the only thing i didn't like is that there's no soundtrack in the custcenes, just the character's voices. The minigames are cool as well. Now, let's talk about what i didn't like at all in this game. The combat has many, many problems. When you attack an enemy, sometimes the enemy doesn't feel your punchs and just take damage and attack you in the middle of your combo. Also, some enemies attacks have a strange red effect like they had superpowers in a game that tries to be realistic. The enemy AI is pretty dumb too, the archers are simply blind and the enemies are very predictable. But the main problem is that the game is extremely easy. I played this in the highest difficulty and, even so, the combat was so easy that the stealth became useless. The missions in the game are overwhelming boring and repetitive. Making alliances is the most boring, tedious and dull thing in the world. Every quest you have to kill a bunch of guys, do annoying and generic stuff for someone that you don't care about only to bring this dude to your side, and that lasts for hours and hours. The sidequest are very **** too but at least they're short. But seems like Ubisoft made the game how it is on purpose, because the game is infested with microtransactions that accelerate your progress in the game, it's really disgusting to see a 70$ Single Player Game having microtransactions, so imagine having a bunch of it, just like the previous ones, what a greedy and disgusting company. Really, that's the last time i'm buying an Assassin's Creed game, i'm done of playing 60 hours of an average 70$ game that begs me to pay even more to have a "good experience". Expand

I remember how I used to play Odyssey all day long like no game before or after it. But when I saw the first trailer my excitement started to fade away - robotic animations, graphics unworthy of 2020 and gameplay that didn't seem to improve in any way. And that is a Ubisoft game trailer, meaning they showed us the best parts! Anyway, I didn't lose hope and bought the game on release day. And let me tell you after 50 hour into the game - this is such a disappointment after Odyssey.
I love long open-world games, because I love exploring the map and getting a home-like feeling from the environment, but in this case I'm trying to finish the storyline out of respect for the series and my complenionist personality, and not because I actually want to.
Maybe as a standalone game or for someone who never played AC, this game seems like fun, but for me it is the most boring of them all.
They got rid of side quests and replaced them with loot hunt which is one of the worst downgrades of them all. Side quests are the best part! What genius decided to get rid of them? I don't feel any urge to go looking for the new gear or upgrades for one simple reason - I don't need them. The game is laughably easy. Sometimes I even get too lazy to spend my upgrade points because they have so little effect on the battle outcome. Sure, sometimes you get bosses here and there that might need up to 5-6 takes to beat them, but nothing that would motivate me to spend hours on a grindfest to upgrade my specs. The same goes for the gear - in Odyssey there were tons of armor that I would actually pay attention to and frequently upgrade or change, in Valhalla I just stick with my original gear for the entire game.
Next - the story is dull and the characters are bland. At some point I just didn't even bother following the story of reading into awful dialogues. Myriad of forgettable characters come and go too quickly - why remember someone's story and personality if I will be killing them within 20 minutes and never see them again?
Although it's not developer's fault this time, but the map is very uninspiring. Every single town looks exactly the same, countryside looks identical wherever you go. I loved exploring the surroundings in Odyssey and Origins. Here, I don't have that urge whatsoever. I'm bored to the death by the view.
I know they tried to make their own gwent or whatever, but I literally played every single mini game in the town once and never wanted to go back. Even when it was required by the quest, I just wanted to get it over with and move on.
And don't even let me started on attacking the forts. In Odyssey I remember how I was planning the entire thing while looking at it with my bird and then carefully executing the plan. In this one, I either just go front attack (again, because the game is too easy, so I have no motivation to go stealth) or, during raid, just open the doors and wait for my army of vikings to do the fighting.
All in all, they downgraded pretty much every single fun part of Odyssey I can think of, so I'm pretty sure I won't be buying the next game on day one, even though I'm a fan of the series. Be better, Ubisoft.

This game seems to have lost all the things that made Odyssey great but doubled down on the chore-like aspects. Ubisoft made a big deal about there being no "side quests". Ubisoft made a big deal about there being no "side quests". Instead there are "events"; blue dots on the map that are functionally identical to sidequests but don't appear in a menu (very useful). The maps have also lost the colour and variety that made Greece feel so exciting. The biggest step back for me is the combat. In an attempt to emulate Fromsoftware, there is an emphasis on parrying and stamina management. Unfortunately, parrying feels very inconsistent and the combat does not suit the frequent scenarios when you're facing a Swarm of saxons in a raid. It only works in 1-on-1 boss fights that are few and far between. I do like the more focused selection of weapons but the upgrade and levelling system is atrocious. Upgrades are made in minuscule increments and abilities are not unlocked, instead you must find them on a map that doesn't tell you where they are unless you are already standing near them; eww. Odyssey may have gone a bit too far turning you into an unstoppable demigod but in Valhalla I can barely tell the difference between combat at the end of the game from at the start.
The narrative is also very sloppy. There are good parts, I admit such as the Sciropescire arc, but the game really whimpers out in the second half. The finale feels so insignificant that it took me another hour before I even realised I had finished the story. I only noticed because there were no significant quests left to do.
As a Welsh man I also find the map disappointing. There's no Cornwall, no Wales, no Scotland, and a slab of Ireland is saved for the DLC. Considering how massive the scope of Odyssey was it feels weird that we don't get to visit Scotland or Anglessey, yet we do get a piece of America as a reference to Assassins Creed 3? Overall, Valhalla just feels so meh and such a missed opportunity. This is a game where you can literally wield mjolnir, yet it entirely fails to feel satisfying in any manner.

I was never really "that into" the assassin's creed games, until I saw the trailer for odyssey, the idea of building a spartan warrior was awesome to me, but alas this is about AC VALHALL!!! So I loved odyssey, and then a few months after I bought and played it I saw the early trailers for AC Valhalla, and I was hooked before it even had a release date!! I pre-ordered it - which I don't do that often mind you. I am super glad I picked up a copy of Valhalla. The story is amazing, and the graphics are even better. I love how you can go on raids, and have a settlement you can build, and a longship to customize. They finally outdid themselves over there at Ubisoft, that is for sure. I enjoyed the Asgard arc as well, getting to see (Ubisoft's version of) Asgard and take part in some of their most well known tales was A GREAT IDEA!! I can't wait to get Mjolnir and Odin's spear Gungnir!! Trust me Broder you will love this game! Expand

Tip for anybody who is going to play or still playing like me: (80 hours in, little over halfway done) play it slow. Meaning literally walk when near wealth, mysteries, when raiding and assaulting fortresses, when walking around towns and hamlets etc, taking your horse instead of fast traveling to destinations (unless quickly going to kill world boss in region you were in 20 hours ago) and just looking around villages and camps carefully. Don't play the game to finish. You miss beautiful aspects of the game. For example: fishing, - going to every body of water in a region and discovering + catching big new fish that make you feel cool - the extra finishers, - sorry to burst the triggered guys bubbles, but there are more finishers than just a sword through a Saxon and cutting arms off from behind (ie. each weapon + some combos has 2 more finishers that happen when you 1. use backstab perk from skill tree when enemy is one shot and 2. when you kill enemy from the front when they are one shot and staggered (not stunned) ) - riding all around some destinations, - (so far) East Anglia, Oxenefordschire and Cent is so dope just layout wise (they did coastline regions really well [talking about East Anglia and Cent] / maybe personal preference / my vibe) - confession boxes after killing order members, - makes them way more 3D and genuinely love seeing personalities matched with character models - burning straw houses with my torch every time around the open world - love the smoke effect you see from a far, the sort of red sky effect that happens when you burn enough houses close to each other and I just love being a manic viking - and talking with important characters after their "arc" - ie. I got an invitation to go to an ealdormans anointment in a region I was in previously with no quest being popped up after reading the invitation, so me being curious I wanted to see if the "world event" would actually occur and sure enough when I went to the last place I saw this important character, a cutscene ensued where he was of course annointed and a small dialog bubble with him was present. Small details like these make me love the game and make me feel like I actually changed something in the open world - fulfilling payoff. Yes you may complain that its not really "Assassin's Creed" but they brought back small things that may not be major to the story but help capture the essence (ie. hidden blade, social stealth and city arcs like Lunden, Jorvik and Winchester or Winchestre, I forgot ) so I can see Ubisoft still somewhat cares and I appreciate that. Some small gripes of the game: one of the arcs - Asgard - is relatively boring due to its lack of interesting narrative and overall region layout (still pretty though), I experience crashes on my base PS4 which can be justified because its a 7 year old console (mine is literally the first model) and I leave the console on rest mode which continues to run the game while I'm away just for convenience but at the end of the day the crashes are so minor because even though the game takes 2-3 minutes to launch back up, I only maybe lose 1 minute of progression because of the constant auto saves which I appreciate immensely. The narrative is an acquired taste. I personally like all but one arc in terms of narration (Asgard) but I can see why some people think the narrative is a little boring because of some pointless main story quests but I personally still get some fun out of them. Finally, I personally disliked the first arc of the game in Norway just plainly because I hate "tutorial regions" and its way to easy but again personal preference and I understand why it's their like in every mainstream game because not everybody is a sweaty narc like me (case in point: my dad - he's so bad but I love him). Some more small tips: play normal first - get the feel of the game - but aim to play very hard (challenge is fun, just trust). Stealth difficulty is fine at normal - I don't have it any higher because npcs still notice you relatively quickly and I have more of a warrior build for style in the battlefield. Recommend playing two handed weapons alone (not with shield or other weapon) - great sword and dane axe alone have brutal finishers. Other points I missed: 1. settlement is awesome - love building an entire town as I become more well known in the game + reminds me of AC3 (great game). 2. You'll love male or female Eivor - can be boring in beginning, but becomes such a badass as story progresses. Conclusion: Buy this game, play it slowly and you'll find enjoyment. Don't play just to check it off of "games I completed". What's the point of buying a $60 game to be the first to complete it? The only people who can justify being the first to finish is of course game devs and reviewers + Youtubers who want to be the first to post a specific part of story like the ending for maximum view potential. If you aren't any of those people who have a quota to fill, play slow. Expand

Graphics: I don't know if it is just me, but the graphics are not good, there is a bunch of screen tearing and the models look ugly, i have seen PC Gameplay and the graphics seem a lot better so it may just be a PS4 thing ( Or maybe the game is just pissy at me rating it 5 )
Sound: Voice acting is much better than Odyssey, Eivor sound great and so do all the other characters, soundtrack feels ambient and mysterious, sound when fighting is very nice.
Characters: i love the Characters, they dont feel like plastic barbie dolls, they feel real, they each have their own personality which i just love because it makes you relate to them and become emotionally attached to them and in turn makes the story an emotional, tense, amazing one, which i would call one of the best in AC History
Variety: Variety is where i think the game really goes uphill, it has so many places to explore and the don't feel like carbon copies of each other, the enemies each have their own strengths and weaknesses to learn, a lot of gear that CHANGES APPERANCE WHEN YOU UPGRADE IT, which blew my mind when i first saw it.

But now comes to the reason i have rated this game a 5, if not for this i would have rated it at the very least an 8...

The crashes and glitches overrun my game, ever hour i have to reload because the game just wants to die, the glitches, while sometimes funny, can ruin the game, i am currently stuck on a quest because it wont play the cutscene to allow me to finish it...

There is probably al ot more i could have said, but, this is what came to mind as i was writing...

Like how they got rid of naval combat, a couple of my fav characters dying which was really upsetting, and viewpoints not having a place to jump down to at the bottom. EVERY game in the series has usually a pile of hay or whatever that your character lands in when they jump off the view point but in this game it was either hard to find said piles or they weren’t there at all so I would be jumping to my death a lot

Interesting health recovery gameplay having to always find rations and not automatic recovery like previous games. Having to build the settlement and unlocking benefits from it like health, changing a companion, design of tattoos or the ship, and missions. I get skyrim like vibes with that gameplay. With the animus data glitch puzzles we see more of Layla, and I'm not complaining. I look forward to continuing the game, not that far into it yet. I believe this installment has what it takes to compete with Origins for the best overall Assassin's Creed game. Expand

Ironically this game isn't Liberal either. It's as Centrist as you can get in 2021. But obviously conservatives don't like that. It confuses them. Like "how can you possibly be so open minded and see both sides". Sad world we live in. In a way Red Dead Redemption 2 is way more Liberal than this game with it's forced feminist mission and i'm saying that as die-hard Rockstar fan. I guarantee GTA 6 has even more stuff like that, possibly more than any Ubisoft game ever. That's the gaming in 2020s and onward, forever. Deal with it. Witcher 4 will have way more focus on female characters and it will include many black characters. That's just how it will be. Witcher 3 will absolutely NEVER happen again. Never. Inclusion is not bad thing, in fact it is necessary and i think it's time for "certain gamers" to understand that there are all kind of people on this planet. Expand

I did not think things could get worse than Odyssey but Valhalla obliterates what it means to release garbage. This game is actually so hilariously bad that it is the first time in all the years of playing this goddamn series I dropped it and didn't come back for any of the dlc.

The main story… I mean what is the main story? You get individual stories for each of the regions and then the main guy in your village runs away, then you chase him and bring him back and then you do a couple more of these disjointed events around the map, then modern stuff happens, then epilogue then zzzzzzzzzzz….. And it just doesn't end.

The hilarious attempt at stealth is actually sad when looking at it from any objective direction. Valhalla was not designed for stealth. Like not at all. One enemy sees you, the whole entire map knows about you. So just don't let them see your forehead… yeah right. Every game with awareness meters lets you pull enemies around the map. Valhalla? Ping and you are found.

You can whistle to pull enemies. Lmao ok. Beyond unreliable. More times than not they walk two steps toward you before returning to their route. The guaranteed assassination insta-kill skill? Not a stealth tool. You get one of those, if that and then you automatically get spotted. And once you do, combat ensues.

Hey, do you enjoy bullet sponges? I mean sword/ax/spear/whatever you are using sponges? Do you like fights that take five minutes each? Oh then you will love this game. If you are doing the mistake of trying to play this thing, abandon stealth and just treat it as a combat game.

I have never played a game where I was more bored by leveling up. Just me or is max level 99 the threshold for me caring? Each level feels exciting. In Valhalla, the max level is 400. Do I feel a difference between me being level 50 and level 250? I don't know. What doesn't help is the skill tree.

Boring passive after borning passive only to get to the actual skills. Wow I leveled up, what do I pick 1% more melee, stealth or assassination damage. Woooow, now I am doing 1% more of the damage type I picked, what an accomplishment.

How about the monetization? Do you want to suffer less of a grind through those 400 levels? Five bucks for 50% more XP for a limited time please. This game ain't grindy we just care about working people with families

How about armor sets? There are 9 of them in the base game. The best part of finishing this game was hearing about the grief Ubisoft got two months after I stopped playing it, as the real money Helix store had more paid armor sets than the actual game. Some of them cost upwards of 20 dollars aka one third of the initial price of this game. And that was the final push to never return to this thing.

How far the series has fallen. The fact that the most fun parts of a game about Vikings are flyting, Viking style rap battles, and orlov, a dice mini game is saying something. Ubisoft succeeded in making an unending experience that will have you considering ending it all.

Wading trough snow is not technically as great as say, RDR2. face animation and textures is not very fluid. And since when was hipster hair fashion a thing in the Viking age?
Also the kill-animations are cool ONCE. Here they are happening over and over all the time on big brutes and you have to watch them every time until you just want to puke. Let us turn it OFF please Ubisoft.

The Assassins mechanic is pretty much non-existent in this game. Just don´t bother trying using stealth for garrison infiltrations. It´s broken and corrupted, completely decimated from the game. Stealth is cooked down to only hiding in the bushes. Not ONCE could i do a mission completely stealth. Impossible as i can guarantee you that you will be spotted after 10 seconds.
The assassins formula is simply not there anymore, which is sad.

Ubisoft has been very good at designing maps, but here it all feels generic, no wow-factor areas to speak of.
Instead they make a map to annoy you. The have placed rock fences ALL around the map to kill any fluidity of rising horseback, as to believe if vikings really built so many rock fences. But all in all I was hoping for huge mythical places, temples and norse fables tales areas. This is just whack.
To be honest, the further out in game you came, the more detached from feeling a Viking era game it became. Thanks to technical stuff and large society cities & villages.

Audio: Music model follows same suit as previous. The same goes for voice acting that is just as bad as it always have been. accents terrible, comedic at point.

By far the worst part of AC Valhalla is the combat. God knows what they were thinking designing it. The amount of sluggish feel and lag in response and button registration is the worst i have seen in any game. Gone is fluidity, in comes stagnation and rage. Your protagonist at often just stands there stupid while you mash buttons to counter attacks. It is TOTALLY broken. Blocking only works when it wants to.
    Absolute crap.

Story is abysmal at best, i was hoping for more mysticism and norse fable episodes as i said. But again the story is the prime motivator here to even complete the game. But the story just dilutes into nothing. So many missions consists of you just riding long paths just to talk to a guy, for then to return to you came from and talk to another. And at the same time, devoid of any action. On another note: Im in England and i do not really know what my main goal in this game is? Make alliance with the brits? I just seem to make alliance in one area after another and it just never ends.
The side quest must be some of the most sloppiest written and hastily made rubbish by far. Some are borderline no more than map & game fillers. You get a quest to fetch something, yeah its just around the house from here. Play hide and seek with some kids. Burn down a house. One mission i simply just talked to a man, Mission complete, here is 500 exp. I mean come on. No challenge, no frills. Just utter crock of nonsense that ridicules any valid seriousness in this game.

I was grinding this game hard to begin with. With a slow and uninspiring intro in Norway, England does boost your morale to explore when you get there. But it is too BIG. But after the usual explore, hoard and collect in massive doses, i got tired. Since 60% of all loot is somewhat underground or locked in, you have to spend many boring hours just trying to find the entrance, or the key. Yawn..... Never has hoarding been so boring.

Bugs.. plenty. Even game breaking ones. Blue-screen of death happens ever so often.

Nope, sorry Ubisoft. Not only is this game awfully long, but boring storyline in the process. A wasted opportunity of what could have been an epic tale.

This game is not bad but its not good either, They do good things with the story and graphic, but with all of this I feel unrewarded, the loot pool compared to odyssey is barely existing, exploration is not as fun as it should be the whole map despite is look gorgeous feel like just empty checklist

Blatantly boring. After playing it for more than 160 hours, I feel empty. Nothing to say to its predecessors, much better games than Valhalla.

It's hard for me to understand the fuss about this game. While it's fun to be a viking, the story and specially the main character are probably the most boring and least compelling of the whole saga. The ending? Underwhelming would be a generous way to put it.

Or if you play Origins again after Valhalla, you'll see how Bayek's journey seems much more important and intense than Eivor's. Yes, Valhalla has some interesting new features compared to its predecessors, but storywise, it's totally underwhelming. Eivor is little more than a Viking seeking to conquer Britain for the sake of it.
I really think the fuss about this game has more to do with the current interest in Norse culture than anything else. For a game that takes 100+ hours to beat, spending all that time with a boring, plain character feels a bit like a waste of time.

While it is an enjoyable game, I can no longer support this franchise. The amount of micro transactions in a single player FULL priced game is disgusting. Ubi$oft have been going down hill for awhile but this is the final straw. Congratulations on joining EA as a company I will no longer support

The story is on par with the one from Odyssey in my opinion and some additions like you own village are great. This game is like Odyssey very big in map and things to explore. The game also has like Odyssey a very long story. So if you want to enjoy it to the fullist you have to invest many hours. So if you like Origins and Odyssey this should be a no brainer and you should buy Valhalla if you are an old Assassin's Creed some changes to the past won't be enough to convince you.

It's crazy how evil and tasteless some people can be. Ubisoft takes years to make these amazing game and all they get back is some whining losers who give them 0 out of 10. Great game.

Of course not everything can be hits and some games are meh at best, but the ones that are good, will last forever! Valhalla wasn't bad at all, it was just different kind of AC and now with AC Mirage they are giving fans more classic style AC. They literally do so much more than other companies. Long live Ubisoft, i mean it. Expand

Many faults. No internet connection. No hot fixes. Broken NPCs that do not allow the storyline to pass. Inability to cancel the quest! And this is in the game in the 21st century! Greatest hack on the part of a developer. Odyssey is a million times better than this squalor.

On paper Valhalla seems like an 11 out of 10. In execution it buckles under the weight of expectations that Origins and Odyssey built. Trying to bridge the gap between the old and new AC titles Valhalla fails on both fronts. Rushed, badly planned, development problems due to upheaval and COVID; whatever the reason Valhalla lacks any polish of the series previous titles. It's gameplay systems don't tie into each other to make any meaningful impact and half the time you're not sure if they're working and just aren't very good, or they're flat out broken. Combine that with a wold that is plenty large, but filled with trivial side content like stacking cairn stones. Say what you will about Odyssey and it's endless fetch quests, they were presented well felt like they fit in the world. Valhalla removes all side quests, making this beautiful world nothing but an empty path that goes from main quest to main quest.

The main story is good, but too often it suffers from the same storytelling issues that Origins had. Important conversations are presented in the most basic manner, zooming in on the two characters and having them replay the same animations over and over again while you can rotate the camera around. By far this is a huge step back from Odyssey and it's Bioware-esq presentation. And that's the main problem with Valhalla, while trying to bridge the old and the new it feels too new for the fans that love the old games, and too old for fans that love the new games.

There's a lot of craftsmanship that went into this game, but it's unfinished and badly presented.

This is easily the best Assassins Creed game Ubisoft has put out in a very long time. I never post any kind of review for a game until I’ve put in at least 20 hours playing the game or have beaten the game (if it takes less than 20 hours to beat). Now having played the game for about 22 hours I can confidently say this is my favorite Assassins creed game they’ve ever made. Now having played the game for about 22 hours I can confidently say this is my favorite Assassins creed game they’ve ever made. I’ll list the positives and negatives from here...
+ They’ve finally improved the graphics over Odyssey and Origins which basically just felt like re-skins of each other. + Animations are vastly improved over the last two games, and that goes for everything from execution sequences, to climbing to riding your horse, everything looks and feels much better and more lifelike. + Like the other Assassins’s creed games, they is tons to do, you’ll easily be able to put in over 100 hours and still have more to do. +Story in this one is actually decent, I care somewhat for the characters in Valhalla which I couldn’t say for the last games. +Sound design is equal to the last games, nothing wrong with it. + I got the game the day it launched and I have only run into maybe a couple bugs. One bug wasn’t allowing a quest to progress, but I just reloaded the game and it worked fine after that. Other bugs have been minimal and nothing game breaking. +Combat and abilities are basically the same as the last two games which I really liked so this is a plus for me, if you didn’t like the combat in the last games then you won’t like it in Valhalla either. + The map is really well made with countless places to loot and explore just like the last games, but Valhalla has more interesting and challenging puzzles in my opinion. The size of the world also seems to be about as big as the last two games as well. - The story is improved but still pretty underwhelming, so it’s a positive and a negative. I don’t really have any other negatives for the game so far after 22 hours, if I had to pick more negatives I would say combat is too similar to the last games and not much was really added or changed, I actually can’t think of anything that was added or changed. The game also has a very similar system to the cultist system they had in Odyssey, actually, it’s exactly the same with a different name. 8/10 from me, much of the same formula from the last games but much more polished, if you’ve liked the last Assassin’s Creed games, you’ll like this one.

I felt like this game is actually one of the largest AC games to date. Took me so long to beat. It is a good game however the ps4 version was hampered with so many bugs and dialog lines overlapping with each other.

There are far fewer cookie-cutter outposts than in previous AC’s, and most sidequests now offer an interesting story, sometimes even with a less-than-obvious solution. While some anti-grind measures have backfired, Ubisoft is on the right track. [Issue#250, page 56]

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a wonderful addition to the AC franchise. It manages to avoid the tropes that became overplayed and focuses on a small well structured story. The fighting mechanics are enjoyable and offer many choices to fit different playing styles. There are a significant amount of bugs and the AI is underwhelming at times. But it's still another step in the right direction for Ubisoft.

When Valhalla is at its best, it evolves series mechanics. And when you’re cruising down river, about to blow your raiding horn, there’s nothing quite like it. [Issue#183, p.71]
