Die hard Assassin's Creed fans might be able to get passed Ubisofts Yearly release of what I call a $60 beta, but not me! I have well over 10gb (I lost track of the exact number after 10) of updates and patches clogging up my hard drive to fix the issues that should have been fixed before this game was put on that poor Blu-Ray disc. I plead for ubisoft to take at least a year and a half on these games and stop charging us full price to experience the beta. I'll gladly allow Ubisoft to pay me, to test for bugs pre release! Expand

Ok, once you get past the barely functional game and get to play it, its not bad, its actually pretty good. Finally they have a dedicated stealth button, it has a good amount of customization, and its pretty fun.

What a disaster this was at launch. The story was sub par in my opinion and the gameplay is AC. So not much changed here except the time period and the coop feature you will never use.

Terrible gameplay, full of bugs and stressful as it can't be no more. You really need patience if you want to play this one. Hours playing will be necessary just for completing basic objectives. It gets boring and quite annoying. Don't worth it.

What they weren't able to fix was the game itself, aside that it comes from a great saga that I loved, the story is awfull, characters won't enthrall you at all. The gameplay is more or less the same as they've been using for most Assassin Creed games, with fewer differences.

The coop was one of the most desired adds but, for me at least, it was nonsense and lacking in content.

I don't know why Ubisoft did this game, but it has ruined Assassins Creed for me at least.

I score it a 6 just for the old times, the game doesn't deserve the initial money, maybe 20-30€ should do it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I´m making one thing clear from the start. Assassins Creed Unity is the worst Assassins Creed so far.
Even if you don´t look at the bugs, which are plenty, the story is not good at all. The game only focuses on Multiplayer. Which is a huge improvement since its predecessors. But it has no story about the old civilization what so ever.
    !!! Spoiler!!!
So your father is an assassin and dies. You becoming an assassin. hmm. kinda like Assassins Creed 2. Your mentor kinda betrays you and you kill him. You get thrown out of the brotherhood, keep on fighting, kill a view templars and at the end you fight the big boss of the templars in paris. Which suddenly has a artifact weapon.
Your "love" dies and you kill him. You get the artifact weapon. The end.
    !!! Spoiler!!!

So this is the story in a nut shell. Climbing is very anoying in unity. You are much faster, if you stick to the streets and just simply run. The side missions may contain a little bit of story, but basically its the same as in all the other assassins creed before. Which is not bad. Its the imense volume of these side missions which make it hard to even use you map. All you see are icons of some side mission. The rewarding of those side missions is questionable. Defend a guy against 3 enemys you get 1500 Livres. Kill an oponent which is guarded by 1000000 soldier and you get 700 Livres?! I´m mostly disapointed by the story, i know from the start, that the game has a lot of bugs, but bugs plus "already-seen-heard-played" story?! well eventhough i only paid 30 € for the game, it was wasted. I don´t know more about the story of assassins creed itself. I just played as some random assassin which is in my perpective not very charismatic.

So if you never played assassins creed, its a funny game. But if you played it from the start, you simply be disappointed. Because it doesn´t matter from which point of view you look at it, the game is simply not in the league as its predecessors. I know that this is mainly caused by the marketing of the game. Because there policy is: Every year 1 assassins creed game has to be released. But with the new posibillities of the next gen consoles and the growing marked and a relatively high standard of a game. This is just not bareable.
If this is the course assassins creed is taking, i´m not really up for it to buy the next releases.

I know this review is kind of emotional, but to get to the point:
    pro:
    the grafic is good.
    the multiplayer has improved drastically
    movements look nice
playing the game is fun to some extend
roleplaying feeling because of the equipment you can get and combine
    contra:
    the story is not good
there are a lot of bugs
climbing in paris is a pain in the ass
getting fast from point A to point B is only possibly threw running on the ground
    not really charismatic characters

So all in all, its not a bad game like E.T. But it is the worst assassins creed which has been made thus far.

That's when I realized that for me, the worse part of this game was the cringe worthy voice acting. If a game is set in Paris, devs should have people from Paris voice the damn thing, not French Canadian actors with a phony in-between accent.

No worries, I then decided I'd just play the game in English. Well tough luck Frenchie, all the NPCs that populate the city are voiced by the same Quebec voice actors as the French version.

I recognize this is a very regional problem that affects just a handful of people, but if they're going for historical accuracy and realism, they should go all in, rather than say 93%.

Ultimately, between actors and micro-transactions, it was hard for me to enjoy this game and I didn't finish all objectives/trophies as I normally would for a game like this one.

The graphics are totally amazing and I can´t avoid to stay on the point of view places to check how much detail they have craft on this massive massive world. It´s just simply amazing!

With AC Unity they integrated the companion app just a little bit further into it and i´m not sure of how people will take that you will need to play on your phone/tablet so you can unlock certain things on the actual game. In my case I started not liking it, the app crashed a few times just after I installed it but after rebooting the phone and clearing the memory it worked like a champ, it loads fast, it gives you an ever better view of the map, even better than AC IV Black Flag and it´s quite simple to use when you are elsewhere, say the toillet, so I like it, it´s a ++ for me.

Yes, it has some minor bugs but hey! It has been out for a few hours, take it easy.

I traded them in both, after only a few hours. Why have I told you all this? It's because I want you to know I'm being honest.
This game so far, and I have completed almost %35 of the game, reminds me of the ones that took place in Italy. The story is not spectacular but at the same time it's good enough to keep you interested. Paris is awesome and running around the street in the aftermath of the revolution is a lot of fun. Enemies are better fighters than in previous games, if you are caught 4 to 1, for example, your chances of survival are very low. In previous games I could easily take 7-8 enemies, in this one it seems very difficult to do that.
The only downside so far is the lack of new moves that I can do during combat. Other than that, I like the game a lot so far. So much that I took a sick day today and I'm playing non-stop.

There's a lot of complaining because of framerate dips (which do occur) and glitches, but games that push the envelope always have these problems. People like to forget that Crysis, for the first few years after its release, couldn't be played at full settings on most peoples' PCs. Battlefield 4, the standard bearer in FPSs, had a rocky launch as well. But BF4, like AC:U, are important franchises and these problems get patched. I'm not sure why everyone is getting so carried away with some glitches or animation syncing issues, the reaction doesn't seem proportional to the problem.

I do have some complaints about AC:U. The "Animus" plotline was interesting in the first few ACs, but it should have been shelved permanently after the Ezio games ended. It hurts the series at this point, and if they can't have AC without it, they should think about retiring AC altogether because it's getting really old and reduces AC's quality in my view. The game also encourages users to use Uplay and has microtransactions as well - I don't care for either.

I like this game, I'm not sure what all the fuss is for. It must be a slow news week or maybe some people are just bored and need something to complain about?

Ok, first off, Unity is NOT poorly optimized. The game scales well with more powerful hardware and doesn't suffer from unreasonable CPU bottlenecking. The game engine is properly multithreaded and scales well across multi-core processors.

The game IS demanding, but not ridiculously so. For example, it is only marginally more demanding than Shadow of Mordor for me, but it looks vastly better. In both games I am unnable to achieve 60fps with my GTX 770 and i5 2500k, so I cap them both at 30fps. The difference is, Shadow of Mordor has micro-stutter due to poor frame-pacing or perhaps asset loading. Unity, on the other hand, is perfectly smooth at 30fps, with no micro-stutter to mar the experience. And the ultra textures in Shadow of Mordor have heavier VRAM requirements, but don't look nearly as good as the ultra textures in Unity.

People need to keep in mind that Unity is one of the first graphically advanced current gen games. It makes no sense to compare Unity to last gen games and cross-gen games that don't look anywhere near as good. Unity runs well, given how advanced its visuals and world simulations are.

Go look up benchmarks for Dragon Age Inquisition; the performance is fairly similar to Unity, but I can tell you from first hand experience seeing the game at PAX Prime that it doesn't look as good as Unity.

Here are my recommendations for those complaining of poor performance:

First of all, if you have an average PC and expect to run advanced new games at 60fps, you're dreaming. Go upgrade your PC or just quit gaming. Game requirements are only going to get heavier now that truly "next gen" games are starting to come out.

If you DO have a decent PC, first you should know that FXAA actually gives the best image quality in this game, so there is no reason to use the more demanding forms of anti-aliasing in this game.

Second of all, if you can't maintain 60fps most of the time and your framerate is swinging up and down, just cap it at 30fps. It will actually result in a perceptively smoother gameplay experience. 30fps isn't as good as 60fps, but it's better than a highly variable framerate. The proper way to cap at 30fps is to use Nvidia Inspector and select the "half refresh rate vsync" option, with Vsync set to "standard" in the setting above that. This will give you a properly vsynced 30fps free of screen tearing or micro-stuttering. (If you have an AMD card use RadeonPro and the "double vsync" option).

Also, by using external vsync and turning off the in-game vsync option you will actually get higher framerates. Make sure you are using the game ready drivers for Unity as well.

If you are getting decent framerates, but still getting stuttering it could be because you have too little VRAM. Turn down the texture quality to "high". Using FXAA or injected SMAA and avoiding 4x MSAA or TXAA will also help with VRAM issues.

Unity runs very well on my PC considering how amazing it looks. And I am enjoying the game immensely. The story is the best yet in the series, in my opinion. I'm drawn in and legitimately want to know what happens next. It doesn't hurt that the cutscenes are so gobsmackingly beautiful.

The gameplay is also the best in the series for me. The combat is harder and requires more skill and focus. I've actually died quite a few times in this game, which generally doesn't happen much to me in other AC games.

The traversal is generally much smoother and more refined this time. The animations are incredibly detailed and varied and there is a greater sense of freedom of movement. Sometimes when using the controlled descent mechanics your character will kind of float unnaturally sideways as he is descending, but that is the only ♥♥♥♥le I have with the new mechanics. Being able to climb up, over and around things so fluidly makes me feel like spiderman. I also like the fact that you can now enter so many buildings and use them as pathways while traversing through the city.

Stealth has been improved dramatically. Finally we can crouch and take cover behind objects, which opens up all kinds of neat gameplay scenarios in the game. It's finally a proper stealth game. There is also a "last known position" mechanic, similar to that found in the recent Splinter Cell games, and it works well and allows you to use it to your advantage to attract and slip away from enemies.

The mission structure is a lot better and more flexible than in previous entries. You are given a certain mission, but it can dynamically change this time. You aren't stuck completing it only one predefined way. There is also a much greater variety of different side missions you can tackle in the game. It all makes the game so addictive.

As far as the visuals, all I can say is 'wow'. I can say without any hesitation nor hint of exaggeration that this is the best looking game I have played on PC. The lighting, shading and materials all look stunning. It's filled with detailed textures, volumetric smoke and fog, extremely detailed character models, the most realistic hair I've seen in a game, lots of neat shader work, and a host of advanced post effects.

So far it is easily the best game in the series for me and one of the best games I've played this year.

This game is a piece of turd. It's extremely buggy, tons of pop-in, low framerate, bad controls, glitchy, has DLC costing up to $100, poorly optimized, and has a bad story. Do not buy this game!

The game is terrible. The controls are garbage. The framerate is beyond bad. The character never seems to do what you want them to do. There is virtually no stealth aspect to this game. Stupid apps and other nonsense is required to get content that I already paid 60 dollars for? Are you serious Ubisoft?

AC Unity should’ve been a fantastic. It was the first game to reinvent the franchise since AC3, and with so many good ideas under its belt, Unity was on the road to becoming the first truly next gen game that AC fans wanted. Instead, we get a title that falls flat on its face and easily ends up being the worst AC game in the franchise.

You play as Arno Dorian (essentially just a rehash of Ezio) who ends up joining the Assassin’s to redeem himself for the deaths of those he feels guilty for. Arno does this by using an unexplained ability to read the thoughts of his targets upon their death, revealing his other targets until he finally finds the one in charge of it all. The story has its entertaining moments and easily one of the most emotionally impactful endings in the franchise thus far, but falls short due to the lack of focus on the French Revolution itself and the lazily done present day storyline.

The story may be average, but it pales in comparison to the game’s many misfires. The parkour system was remade with good ideas and is the best system for controlling your lateral movement, but with no control over your speed, movement becomes very janky in tight environments which severely weakens the stealth gameplay. While being able to crouch is awesome, Arno’s lacks of fluid movement or responsiveness makes stealth frustrating. Worse is the poorly programmed and inconsistent enemy AI, leading to multiple instances of you getting caught unfairly. Plus, since most enemy layouts are overly packed with guards and snipers, stealth becomes nearly impossible and frustrating.

Sadly, the only real motivation to use stealth is to avoid the even worse combat. Largely similar to the Batman Arkham games, your only defense in combat is to counter or avoid enemy attacks. Plus, every enemy carries a firearm, so you’ll have to watch out for the symbol to dodge their shots, since the human shield skill from AC3 is now removed for whatever reason. However, the claustrophobic camera largely prevents you from actually being able to see enemy attacks (especially while in interiors), while the crosshair that alerts you to incoming fire fails to appear half the time. Both of these problems almost ruin combat because they make it cheap and unfair rather challenging.

The sad truth is, every new mechanic is plagued by problems. The upgrade system that allows you to unlock new skills sounds cool until you realize most of them are just standard skills you've had by default in previous games. Arno brings no new skills to the table, and the higher skills he does have take too long to unlock. It’s also frustrating that only story and co-op missions give you the points to unlock them instead of all mission types.

Character customization is also a cool new addition with a variety of outfits and weapons, but most of the higher level pieces are locked behind annoying prerequisites. These would've been great if they were alternatives to just buying them, but forcing them on you is too restrictive.

The weapons and outfits are supposed to add replay value, but that is immediately ruined when you find the game only has one save file with no in-game menu that lets you start the story over.

Another problem is the unnecessary change or removal of abilities that were moving the series forward. You can’t attract enemies to you by whistling, you won’t stay in a hide spot if an enemy sees you enter it, and the double assassination is harder to pull off.

Annoyingly, Unity retains the mindset of “quantity over quality” in terms of the side content. There’s a ton of stuff to do but it all feels the same. Murder mysteries are a step in the right direction but are only fun to play once. Plus, the checkpoints for most of these missions are awful, since they can cause you to start at the beginning or spawn you way across the map, and sometimes directly in the enemy’s line of sight.

Co-op is also a letdown because it doesn't make for stealth games to begin with, but the bad stealth mechanics just ensure you’ll get caught regardless of how coordinated your team is. Taking them on solo only makes them ridiculously hard, while the rewards tied to them require multiple playthroughs, making co-op a grind to get through.

Overall, everything in AC Unity has so many problems, that the few good things like the amazing graphics and presentation are bogged down by them. When Unity performs flawlessly, it becomes the experience I was expecting, but becomes nearly unplayable due to the unnecessary removal of useful mechanics and with every new feature having its own slew of issues. Ultimately, I love Unity for the direction it was taking the franchise, but I hate it because of how poorly executed it all was. It's easily the biggest gaming letdown I've had in a while.

Co-Op is a welcome, if imperfect addition (I preferred the stealthy 'heists' to the all-out fight-fest of the other modes). But even with the minuses, for this AC fan the pluses are just too awesome to ignore. Now if Ubi can just get a game in Feudal Japan.... 9/10 Expand

I wanted to be fair. The Assassin's Creed series has proven that it can produce amazing games such as AC: 2, AC: Brotherhood, and AC: Black Flags. This edition to the Assassin's Creed series takes all of the terrible elements from previous Assassin's Creed games to create a disgusting abomination.

I started this game excited and ready to jump into the French revolution. After about five hours of playing, I realized that this game is seriously broken. However, it would be a lie to say that the whole game is terrible. There were some element in this game that I hope to see in future Assassin's Creeds.

Let's start with the few positive aspects of Assassin's Creed: Unity

    Positives:
Simple side missions to keep the player entertained after finishing the game.
    Customization options for your character.
The ability to choose your character's weapon.

    Now the myriad of negatives.
    Negatives:
Glitchy as Ride to Hell: Retribution
    Customization options are limited
    Arno is dislikable
    Elise is a B*TCH
I non longer care about the war between the assassins and the templars
The rife combat can not be upgraded in the skills menu
Combat doesn't work at all since the game is glitchy
The story about the previous civilization is now weak
    No puzzles
Forced to use a hidden blade to assassinate your target (this takes away the creativity of the player and how they choose to kill their target)

(Just to name a few of the negatives) - Metacritic is playing an ad that is cause major lag and I don't have the patients.)

    Conclusion: Don't buy this one.

I have always been a fan of Assassin's Creed. Sure they have had their slip ups with Revelations and AC III, but Ubisoft still manages to amaze me with how good they can make a game in just a year (two games, in fact, including Rogue). I have just played some of the beginning of Unity and I already love it. The history, the environment, the combat, the characters, story, parkour,I have always been a fan of Assassin's Creed. I have just played some of the beginning of Unity and I already love it. The history, the environment, the combat, the characters, story, parkour, everything has been changed.

Since of the next gen consoles' power, they have been able to recreate Paris in the French Revolution in a 1:1 scale, meaning no loading and along with the fact that now there can been 1000 living breathing NPCs at once on screen is amazing. The characters also look really good. So, basically, it's good in the graphics department.

The combat and parkour are what I love the most. With combat, they have now added a new parry system, which makes it more complex than just countering and hitting back. Complexity is great in combat. And with parkour, they have two buttons for freerunning up and down, making it easier to climb so that we don't screw up something. That also means not a lot of haystacks. We control our own descent.

I already love the story. Assassins's Creed has always perfectly mixed the game story with actual history, and they do the same here. I have yet to try the co-op, but I hope to try it soon.

Now I do have a few complaints. What's strange is that, even though we are in France, everyone has a English accent. Not something to make a big deal about, but it would've been nice to hear some French accents. Also I did encounter some minor bugs, like a guy skipping through the streets (like glitch skipping) and a guy emerging from the ground, but again, nothing big, and hopefully that's the worst of it. The last thing is that the combat is a little...what's the word...clunky. In the last two games, the combat flowed pretty well. Now, I have only done a little combat, so I might just be jumping the gun. When I play more of the game, I will see if I can edit a few things.

If you are an Assassin's Creed fan, get this. If you are new to the series, you may want to play some of the older ones first. But for me, this may be one of my favorites yet.

    4) the interiors of houses or shops are fantastic. Works of art in parts, Golden details, clocks, marble staircases and so on. I've never seen anything like that in a game.
    5) The supporting characters are extremely varied. They range from workers performing their activity, people carrying crosses, or other people. People killed in Barrow. This leads us to think what really was going on at that time.
    6) the amount of gameplay options is incredible. You have several ways of playing. Whether in research, whether in the cracks, either in historical discovery of riddles, is in hot pursuit, is to collect points, is to find and open objects, is to open and manage a new business and so forth. The game not to have options that challenge your ability to think and, for me, this is real game. Not to mention that the game brings a very interesting cultural contribution.

There are several other aspects that I could say here.
I will give a few bugs that has happened 9.5 in others I hadn't seen, but given the ambition of Ubisoft and the quality of the game, I'm going to give you this note. The game deserves 9.5 for sure.

Now they aren't anything revolutionary with each release, and there are always issues of repetitive and boredom depending on the person.

The pros of this game is Paris is beautiful and well done. On top of that there are more interiors then ever before, and they are beautiful. Since I've been to Palace of Versailles I was impressed how they capture the scale and expansive of the beautiful palace, and the details of the rooms and art work is well done. Then throw in plenty of random houses and other interiors that you can go through makes it very expansive. Then I'm impressed by the amount of NPCs you see on the streets. I think at times it's a little much when you are walking down the street and have dozens of people, but at times in modern day Paris it's like that on the mos random streets. Seeing massive protests are cool and make you feel like you are witnessing a massive piece of history that was lacking in AC3. Then the missions seem more varied with an emphasis on stealth, something the AC games have lacked for a while. And the combat is solid as always, and enemies seem better at fighting you for once instead of standing there all the time. That said, it's easy to get cheap kills.

The biggest con is the AI at times when you aren't in combat is puzzling. This is a constant issue, and I don't know if they will ever truly fix some better AI. They tried with a system of an enemy seeing where you were spotted last, but when they reach that point in a small area they stopped there instead of checking out the next room. In the large outdoor areas it makes sense, and it works when you ran across the corner and then sneak into a building that is open before an enemy can see you sneak in. But indoors it's puzzling and sad at times. Stealth mechanics aren't horrible, but not the best. Finally the story is just there, so far. I haven't been intrigued in an AC story since AC Brotherhood I even though AC Pirates the story was just there with random issues between you and other NPCs.

Overall this game is solid, but if you are bored with AC series, then wait for it to be on sale. If you enjoy the AC series and like history like I do, then you'll enjoy it.

Assassin's Creed Unity is a pretty game that is very broken. A few of the problems in the game are consistant frame drop, texture pop in and that some of the combat options from AC4 have been removed.

If I were to rate this game on my 1st 3 hours of play I would have given it a 4 or 5/10 but I came to realize something; AC:Unity is like dating a supermodel with a pretty obvious mental disorder. If you can look past that and see that underneath you have not only a beautiful game but one that does a lot right in spite of itself.

Here is a scenario I want to lay out for you: Two lone assassins overlooking a Parisian square full of dissident citizens meticulously examine the crowd in search of their Templar "mark". Upon discovery of their target they realize the perimeter is littered with various guards, rifleman, and numerous other issues that if they dive in straight on....they will not make it out alive. With no words said the two assassins split up and begin to dissect their adversaries one by one. As their foes fall they instinctively converge on each other again to once again lay eyes on the target Templar in question. His armed escort of 5 guards makes a direct assault very risky indeed, and both assassins know this. Again with no words being spoken the 1st assassin throws a well placed smoke bomb and leaps from his ledge directly onto the mark plunging his blade into his neck. The 2nd assassin immediately follows their lead and executes two guards immediately before they can even react. Each assassin then squares off on the final two guards resulting in a quick decisive victory in combat; they day is theirs and they retreat to the shadows with not one word being spoken between the two of them.

THIS my friends is what I experienced in my very 1st Co-Op session in AC:Unity..even being a novice assassin by rank in game I am no stranger to the series and neither was my partner who joined my session (total stranger by the way). We did not use voice chat once, there was no hot-dog 1 man army antics. We both had a job to do; we understood what needed to be done, and we executed it to near perfection. I cannot tell you the last time I had this much fun in an AC game. It felt like since AC Brotherhood this was how AC was meant to be played; and when it all goes smoothly it truly does feel like one of the best AC experiences of the series.

Now imagine all of that but throw in terrible immersion breaking hiccups in framerate, collision detection, and a sometimes unresponsive parkour system and you can see why many folks are crying FOUL at this game. For lack of better phrasing, it is simply a damn shame because if AC:Unity could fix the technical issues it really would be delivering everything it promised. Underneath all the muck and mire of bad coding lays a fantastic game almost screaming to come out.

AC:Unity is old school AC..It is what made us fall in love with AC in the 1st place while stripping back much of the "fluff" mechanics the series has adopted over the years. It goes back to massive cities, rooftop stalking, and the freedom to take down your mark in whatever way works best for you. In a way it is almost a "reboot" of the series. Many fans have found issue with this, but it does provide a fresher landscape for future AC games to be built on.

One thing I want to mention is Arno feels much more "human" than previous assassins. This is largely in part due to the new animations in parkour but you feel more like a real person doing parkour than some some sort of Batman-esque superhero making down right impossible leaps. It makes sense in this context because Arno is just coming into his own as an Assassin. It NEVER made any sense for me why in AC:Black Flag Edward suddenly goes from deck hand on a ship to amazingly gifted assassin essentially overnight. It never set well with me and AC:Unity feels more grounded and "real" as a result. Much like the Nolan Batman movies give him a much more "human" style of combat and movement. Combat is similarly more realistic as well. Sure you can still be a bad-ass swordsman but gone are the days where you can kill 20-30 guards one by one in a group. Early on in the game..anything more than 2 guards meant you more than likely have to run. Combat is more methodical and guards will attack at the same time rather than line up to die like they did in previous AC games. I actually find myself saying "oh sh*t" more often in this than I have in any AC game before because there is a real sense of danger that the AC games started shifting from.

All in all my biggest piece of advice if you are on the fence about this game is to HOLD OFF buying it until Ubisoft fixes many of the major technical issues that plague all versions of the game. The good news is, they have recently said they are "working on it" but make sure you hold off on your purchase till they deliver on that promise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all, the cons: No competitive multiplayer; Kinda bad optimization; Almost Useless Pedestrians = Lower FPS; the necessity to go online to have 100% completion and finally *SPOILERS ALERT* another female character brutally murdered by Ubisoft (Ubisoft just has to kill them off, from Maria to Christina to Clara in Watch_Dogs and Elise from ACU).
Then the pros: Interesting story as always, a good amount of history/pseudo-history to be learnt from the database, harder and better combat system and a new parkour system.
Generally, the game has its improvements, if Ubisoft patch the game up a bit, it would be much better.

Sure the cover system and the climbing doesn't always work but it definitely works most of the time. It is a very complex system that will take time to perfect. When the system works, which it does most of the time, it feels awesome and looks awesome expolring Revolutionary Paris. Jumping and climbing look very smooth, although sometimes hiccup. However, I really am enjoying and utilizing the new climbing down system. To get down from a building I don't have to jump into a pile of hay. The new stealth system, although not flawless, really gives the assassin's creed game meaning. After all, stealth was always the key part of these games but never had a clear system until now. It definitely takes some getting used to and doesn't always work. The graphics in this game are amazing. Everybody is freaking out about the frame rate issues. I've only had a few issues so far and of course ubisoft will fix this issue since so many complaints were made. This game, although did not live up to the perfect score hype, is an entertaining game. I don't get all of the hate this game is receiving. There are some sporadic framerate issues. I experienced most of them near the beginning of the game and haven't had a problem since. Not even in a late game mission where they was probably a good 1000 NPCs on the screen at the same time.

I also hear a lot about Arno being dull. I like Arno. He's basically Ezio. Yet Ezio was considered not dull and in fact most peoples favourite assassin. That right there is a contradiction. You like Ezio but hate Arno even though they have the same personality? Because that makes sense.

I also hear about the story being dull. It's one of the best stories an Assassin's Creed game has put together. I feel like Arno has a place in the plot and isn't just the player's surrogate being funnelled from one historic event or person to the next in Ubisoft's attempt to say "LOOK AT HOW MUCH HISTORY RESEARCH WE DID!!!"

Character customization is great. Arno feels more like your Assassin than any Assassin before him. You can actually customize him to fit your playstyle. It's great.

Did I mention that there's a sneak button now? That's right. You can press a button and sneak. No more walking around the open without a care in the world and hoping no one spots you. You can now crouch and walk quieter and even take cover behind low objects.

People say co op is dull. I played co op for about four hours straight with my friends. We only did two or three missions. The rest of the time was spent exploring Paris and helping each other find out how to get collectibles. Probably the most fun I've had playing co op in awhile.

The game is great. People need to pull their heads out of their asses and learn to actually appreciate good games like these. Sure it has some rough spots. But pretty much every major video game release does these days. Should this be acceptable? No. But it's not like this game is as badly put together as Battlefield 4. And it has about 100 times the content of Destiny.

And oh yes. A legitimate epic boss fight. Something the franchise has been missing since the beginning.

People saying this is the worst Assassin's Creed since AC1 should probably just stop playing the Assassin's Creed games. Because this is, in my opinion, the best Assassin's Creed since AC2.

    tl;dr

Graphics, gameplay, co-op, story, customization are great. Has some rough spots that can be patched out. Don't believe the haters that need every game to be a masterpiece to enjoy it.

Assassin's Creed Unity steps into the new generation with new mechanics, an outstanding scenario and many missions to entertain the player for many hours. Co-op mode is one of its biggest assets, which we hope to see in future installments. However, some technical issues, along with the waste of such an important moment as the French Revolution weigh down a game that could have gone even further.

A lot of talk about combat being harder is not really true for me.. Its still the basic 'parry-counterattack'-dance , only the timing is more strict. Camera-angles are sometimes ridiculously bad , resulting in having enemies engage you from angles you cant see in 2 out of 3 fights.
The story is less chaotic than black flag to me.

While AC Black Flag seemed to focus more on pirates, Unity has a renewed focus on the fight between the two factions. Modern day scenes add little to the story but thankfully they are short. I have had enormous fun playing this game and I look forward to completing everything this game has to offer in the coming days. Customization adds a nice new feature to the game and allows you to focus more heavily on your style of playing the game, be it more stealthy or more open combat based. This game looks fantastic and it's great to play thus far. I only hope all the issues are ironed out for other people and that more people will buy and play this great new installment in the AC universe. Expand

So far I'm enjoying this title more than any other I've played this year. The combat, graphics, controls, story and everything else are exactly what I was hoping for when I pre-ordered the game. 10/10.

You can't have a stealth-focused game have a multiplayer focus, it just doesn't work. As demonstrated by Assassin's Creed Unity, the game just feels like it slogs through mission after mission with a lack of cohesion. And does it surprise anyone at this point that the game doesn't look anything like it did at E3? Man, what happened to you Ubisoft

everybody else has said what i want to say pretty much but i'll give my two cents. the crowds are huge and that makes the game better than previous ones. the gameplay is definitely the best in all the series. graphics... best graphics i've ever seen! okay that's all i got!

An excellent and huge game. The positives are emphasized by detailed world that seems more alive now than ever before.

Unity is not a bad game, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it advances the series very much, especially for the first title in the series to be a fully next-gen game.

Bugs really throw Unity under the guillotine. [Jan 2015, p.78]
