I give this game almost no rating because it is a repeat of the rest of their series and has no fun after 2 months. Worth renting, just nothing here that hasn't been done before. Activision simply milking the COD brand for all it is worth. I also bought BF3 this year and i shall be sticking to that series from now on. BF3 multiplayer is so much more rewarding

Modern Warfare 3? A new videogame? I was thinking that was a DLC of 70$. You will feel like you've stepped back in time 6-7 years. The graphics are brown and grey and decay-esque, the gun sounds are horrible.

Is the game fun? Yes, it is fun, and it's polished. There are limitless things in the multiplayer to keep the hamster wheel going. MW3 is a good game - but I'm tired of being a joke to the COD franchise staff, who I can envision saying in their meetings "Ha! Look how many people are buying the same exact product they bought last year!" YOU ARE DETRIMENTAL TO THE GAMING INDUSTRY!!! I made sure to buy this game with a debit card so that I couldn't see the money that could have been thrown in the toilet. While this game's campaign isn't the worst thing I've ever played, it left a lot to be desired. The final level was nice, but where was the action through the rest of the game? While this game's campaign isn't the worst thing I've ever played, it left a lot to be desired. The final level was nice, but where was the action through the rest of the game? Black Ops tried and failed to have a story, whereas MW3 barely has a story or key moments. I can only think of three notable moments in the game, two if I don't count the last minutes. But no one plays Call of Duty for the campaign. I can't believe that I'm about to write this, but here goes; the multiplayer is worse than the campaign. Let that sink in for a second. You can tell that they didn't try too hard with this game by looking at the plain box design, but they made next to no effort for the multiplayer. Weapon leveling is a nice touch, but it's heavily marred by an overabundance of full-auto rifles and crowded maps. Every level that I've played so far has nothing but blown-up cars, alleyways, and more blown-up cars. Does anyone have good memories about Karachi or Rundown on Modern Warfare 2? That is a preview of every level on MW3.
The campaign is a non-event, Special Ops mode seems better this time around (and anything is better than zombies) but it still isn't very fun, and the multiplayer is drowning in its own flaws. Why don't grenades have explosions more than one foot in MP? Why do shotguns have the range of a rubber band? What is the point of perks if they don't seem to help out that much? And most importantly, why doesn't my trained marine know how to reload a gun without it becoming an eight hour affair? I always equip sleight of hand, but then I am behind because someone might have a "better" perk equipped in that slot. The perks that give you faster aiming and better movement speed while aiming aren't even noticeable. Maybe I need to upgrade them to the pro versions, but why do I have to work that hard for something I all ready worked for?
In the end, the Professional reviewers have been paid off or are scared to give this game a low score, lest they suffer backlash from fans. Many of the negative reviewers just plain hate CoD or are players of Battlefield 3 (I haven't played BF3, but I'm tired of hearing about the MW3 vs. BF3 debate). I enjoyed Modern Warfare 2's campaign when you controlled the vehicles or did something that was over the top. I still love to play World at War because it takes skill instead of higher levels. I also had fun with Black Ops before they released patches that made my favorite weapons next to useless but still kept the Famas over-powered. I'm saddened by what has happened to the CoDs, and I know this will be the last time they sucker me. It's a money-making machine and Activision has realized this.Someone might argue "maybe it's not easy to make a great game that quickly". Then Activision should wait longer than 355 days to make their next game, or use some of their budget on a script or ask people what they want changed or added. Maybe if it didn't make so much money it could go back to its roots, but until then, I'm done.

Wow... This was the FIRST and LAST time that I purchase a Call of Duty game the day of release. The game seemed good, graphics amazing... The issue at hand for me is the people playing multiplayer... They are all camping like crazy... The disappointment here is that I read that the developers made the maps so it'd be difficult to camp. But, that is not so at all... It is even easier actually.

I am giving it until 1st prestige or Monday (whichever comes 1st) at which point I'll trade it in for something new (effectively getting it for free). Maybe I'll come across a gun/perk combo that really makes me want to keep it and play?! I doubt it though, back to blops for me I expect!!

Let me just put it this way if you have to beg your fans to give you a good review you did not produce a quality product. Because MW3 is just a ever so slightly updated version of MW3. Almost everything is exactly the same as MW2 sounds, weapons, features, And absolutely nothing new was brought to the franchise or the genre with the release of this title. I find this disappointing as I have had fun with the previous titles, but I have those titles still and didn't need a rehashed version of them.

Obviously the CoD formula has worked for them in the past but I feel that after so many years with no real innovation coming out of Infinity ward, it is time for them to move on and take a chance. Sure they are probably going to make a ton of money off the initial release but I am fairly certain they will not be able to sustain their sales like they have in the past. I think the only hope for this game is if they can release some top quality DLC for free, or some updates that actually help bring both the franchise and the genre forward.

If you haven't purchased this yet, don't. Just throw in your copy of MW2 and you will be playing pretty much exactly the same game.

I see a lot of non stop Modern Warfare 3 versus Battlefield 3. Well if people get to compare those completely different games, then I get to compare Modern Warfare 3 with Black Ops in an all out multiplayer only cage match review:

    Maps:

Black Ops comes with 12 maps that vary in size and shape. Some maps have wide open vistas with a few buildings for close quarters. Other maps are condensed and smaller. There are a few medium sized maps as well. The maps tend to suit all play styles with close quarter areas, and long range sniping grounds, as well as medium range assault rifle locales.

Modern Warfare 3 comes with 16 maps that are cramped and claustrophobic and labyrinthine. There are some occasional medium range areas. There is no real place to camp or take a breather. The maps tend to be rewarding to the run and gun play style, while punishing the cautious and camp styles. Guns: The guns in Black Ops have differences. While there are a handful of guns that are best for most situations, any decent player can excel with any of the guns available. For long and medium range shooting, controlling the recoil is key to successfully hitting the target. The guns of Modern Warfare 3 have almost no recoil. You can aim a gun at an enemy and fire full auto without any problems. Also the maps are close quarters, so you wouldnâ

I payed 65 dollars for a story mode that was full of just shooting 20 guys then get in a car and kill 10 followed by kill 30 more. The story is BS. I laugh at the critic who gives this terrible repackaging of a game the 100. I don't understand why true diehard fans even like this, it's a map pack that costs $60! And what is this other stupid service, ANOTHER $50? Are you kidding me Activision? I see you're trying way too hard to milk the consumers of everything. Greedy company + repackaged game = 0. I give the game ZERO for innovation. MW3 is basically MW2's DLC, except you pay £40 for it, along with a £35 subscription fee to ELITE if you feel you've not wasted enough money. The actual gameplay is ok, but there is no excuse for releasing a game that looks and plays exactly the same as MW2. Do your job and develop Activision, there is no 'development' here.

For Shame...rehashing items for COD4 and reusing them in MW3. This just goes to show that like Guitar Hero, this franchise is going to go down the same road of more of the same with a new paint job. If you want to play a MW game, stick with COD4 or Black Ops. No need to waste your money on this one.

I used to like CoD games back in the day, but since 4, it's like Activision saw its success and just stopped putting effort into subsequent releases. Luckily it was not a full-price purchase, but rather a copy that a friend let me borrow. I can't say I'm sad to see this franchise go, because I'm about done with this and FPS games altogether. I really hope this franchise (and the entire FPS genre as far as I'm concerned) goes the way of Guitar Hero, because I'm done.

It's like a bad fad that just will not go out of style because Activision knows how to market the game to 12 year old children. The game is rated M, people! Might as well package the game with free cigarettes while they're at it. Needless to say, I was sickened to see how many copies were purchased day one. This does not send a favorable message to developers. Because now, any game that is released that doesn't sell like 4 million in the first 24 hours is just doomed to fail. And to succeed, everyone's just going to start making their own crappy FPS games just to stay afloat.

I know I said it before, but I seriously cannot wait until the FPS genre as a whole goes away and is replaced with something else.

After the massive changes between MW & MW2 we all expected an equal amount of development effort going into this. It didn't. Rehashing someone elses work seems to be a speciality of Activision's new studio, sledgehammer games. Well, they certainly took a sledgehammer to the franchise that's for sure. Run and gun, explosions everywhere, bullets constantly flying by all making for a very unbelievable over the top experience. Some may love this, I found it excruciatingly difficult to force myself to play it. The graphics here may have sufficed with the release of MW2, but here in 2011, they really do look terrible. Audio feels hollow and lacking when firing most weapons. Multiplayer is essentially the same as MW2. It is an arcade shooter. There are no real strategies beyond improving your reaction time, that will help you win a duel. Average time alive is approximately 10 seconds. Graphics even more poor here than in the campaign. Spec Ops is where I found the most enjoyment. The dual survival mode is fun with a friend and that which I spent the most time with. The missions are mostly non engaging and left me with no feeling of accomplishment upon their completion. In all honesty, this is not the best playing FPS of 2011. During my time with MW3, I only wanted it to be over, and back to playing other games. Like I said before, rent the game and see what you think. Expand

In this clone i haven't really felt any difference from COD4 and MW2, yes definitely they have changed the maps, and yes they have added some new stupid images and perks however this isn't the game.. Its funny that the critics have voted the game so high, while the majority of people didnt do that, this say that the critics are not fair or not gamers.

I like MWF family and i really hope that they will fall down like Battlefield, and i hope they will not stay drunk with the fact that many people bought the game, we buy it because we like it, that doesn't mean we will continue paying for the same game...

As often written on these reviews, the multiplayer is a bloody joke. The few maps I've played on so far make me feel like I'm in a labyrinth of poor cover and bad lighting. The weapon loadouts seem random and rushed, the sniper rifles are just horribly weak(usually have to 2 shot), the assault rifles have an insane recoil on them, and the other guns are just not nearly as fun as MW2's. Not played much of the campaign but not really impressed there either, extremely rushed gameplay, very dull and dreary locations/maps. It's obviously so easy that people have already prestiged at least once since it's release a mere 9 days ago. Due to how much players have overburnt on the game, many of the new buyers can't even attempt to compete with the slow, underpowered starting guns. I've also played Bfbc2, and to anyone who thinks that was better, you need your eyes checked Expand

A sharp drop from the fun had in Black Ops and the awe of Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3 is a disappointment. I have only played Multiplayer (spec ops awaits), losing all interest in the campaign for this series, and what you will find, on the PS3 at current (18/11/2011) is a mess of lag, poor map design and a game of chance.

What used to take some thought and skill is now left down to who ultimately has the best connection to the host, alternating between taking 3 bullets to kill someone and 6+ bullets, all under the same Perk/Pointstreak conditions. I have had many times using a shotgun at short or point-blank range and taking a player out in one-shot, then later hitting (ie hit markers are shown while I'm aiming at their chest) them 4 times and still ending up dead at the end of it. Watching killcam replays where hit markers appear as your enemy shoots into the empty space you just left, and succeeds at the kill, occur far to often. All this and I have 4 bright green bars of 'quality' connection.

The game feels unnecessarily sped-up compared to previous iterations, with terrible spawn points that often see you moving forward to be killed instantly, and occasionally, if you are lucky, spawned immediately behind an enemy player. Mostly though, you will spawn close to where you were just killed, meaning, if you're quick, you can seek revenge on the player almost immediately, if someone else hasn't gotten to them first. This choice of spawn points is frustrating and you will find yourself being pushed to always keep moving and to always be looking over your shoulder (to than be shot from where you were just heading). That is not to say it isn't a good thing to have, and hasn't been a part of previous games, but here it is consistent throughout. Rather than a rush of tension from accidentally putting yourself into a poor position, and feeling like a bad-ass for coming out alive, you are almost always in a vulnerable position. It dissipates your ability for strategy or team-play. as the position you just fought for will shortly mean nothing, the enemy spawning behind you ready to shoot you in the back. It all just makes the game feel like a constant **** You will constantly find yourself dying as 3 people race to be the first to put their bullets into you, all from 3 different directions.

The map designs feel overly complex, with a lot more 'stuff' than I recall in previous games; more hidey holes, more boxes to get in the way and too many rooms and entry points. It all feels forced and unnecessary, as if the developers sought to make the game more mature and strategic by throwing more obstacles into the maps. Of course, my impression of these maps is massively hindered by the spawning issues previously mentioned, and any strategy that may come from their design and intended use I havent seen, clouded by the green rage that comes from consistently feeling cheated by this game. Over time perhaps my opinion on this will change.

The Perks in the game, or at least what I will refer to in general as 'perks' (Gun Perks, Character Perks, Strike Packages and their rewards) feel overly complex and purposely game-lengthening. The Gun Perks require you to use a gun and level it up exclusively, rather than being attached to your overall level, meaning you are constantly starting from the beginning if you choose to try a new weapon, having to work through sequentially to get what you want. Finally you unlock that gun you've constantly been killed by and wanna try it? well your gonna have to give up that sight and better stability until you use it enough. Some may find it addictive trying to find a weapon load out that just sits in the sweet spot of how you play (and won't be outgunned by a pp90), I used to in previous iterations, but that will only truely be an option once you've unlocked every single attachment and perk available, a feat only possible when you reach level 80 and have spent solid time with every gun available. It makes the whole thing feel like I'm having to work to enjoy the game, mine gold for hours so I can finally slay the dragon! unfortunately there isn't a dragon in the game, just a hope of finding a golden nugget of fun that's been hiding from me. As I shake my Magic 8-ball, it's sources tell me no.

The game feels like a half-arsed experience, like an actor portraying a character from that book you love, poorly, taking it in their own direction without actually being immersed in the fiction, just the cheque at the end of the rainbow. Reports of re-used models and what appears to be a lack of testing in regards to the design of maps, the upgrade system and the ridiculous lag I have encountered within 'good' connections all tell me that the developers didn't care, or at least, they didn't have the time. It's cheaper than the pokies, but you will probably shorten your life-span by just as much.

The pairing of levels, for instance, is non-existent. I don't mind dying a lot (in fact, I find it quite laughable), but playing against 80 LVL players while being just 6 or 7 is just unfair. Dark Souls, for example (which is not a PVP game but has its share of it), only puts players of similar levels against one another, making winning a match much more gratifying because you're winning on your skill and not on the lack of others'. Plus, the gaming itself doesn't seem to be fluid enough or to offer such a variety of experiences to add to the fun. Resistance III, at least, has its miriad of weaponry with different effects and, although the end is the same (killing and dying), the means by which you get to it are a little more colorfull and amusing. In fact, playing MW3 is mostly a question of "respawn-run-die-respawn again" (with the eventual interlapse of killing someone yourself), and after you die THE SAME WAY the first ten times, you've seen pretty much everything there is to bee seen. This, added to the fact that the players in general don't seem to be mildly interested in cooperating with the others (even when playing on the same side) and keep cursing all the time (and some of the cursing, besides being rude and unnecessary, have a tone of prejudice that is really appalling and should be noted by whoever is controlling the whole thing), really makes this game not worth the money I spent with it. In the end, it may be that MW3 is just not my kind of game, but judging from the content of other comments I've read, this may not be the only problem with it. A final comment: I'm really disgusted by the nerve of the specialized critics that are bashing Metacritic users, right now. As far as I now, people here are REAL players, spend their money maintaining the games industry on the top, are entitled to their opinions and deserve a place to express themselves. If game companies define their projects solely on specialized opinions, and not on the average "Joe" that plays day in, day out, I fear for the creative future of this industry. Just saying. Expand

Yes, I'm one of the millions that bought this game thinking that Activision and Bobby Kotick would allow some time, effort, and innovation for this game and treat it differently than other franchises that have been grinded into dry dust like Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk but we were trolled again. To me the 4 is a fair rating. It's mediocre and that's all the due that this game will get. For months I waited on the fence wondering whether or not I should get this game or Battlefield 3 and I chose this game to play with the large group of friends I have online. I knew that yes, it's being hounded by Activision, that most of the original staff of Infinity Ward left with their original bosses to create Respawn, and that IW once again decided against giving users a Beta to test the game out early...and now I see why just as everyone else has. Patched, reused graphics engine from MW1 and MW2 with a limited color palette that allows easy blending into environments, a recycled and repackaged Multiplayer and Killstreak system that no longer promotes a great player from pulling away from the pack, the maps in this game are badly designed that allow for either too much map circulation -or- choke point disadvantages by snipers and rear coverage, the weapon stats are incorrect once again (check with the PC's gun files that has been uploaded online...), and the revelation that there are even less game modes in MW3 than in Black Ops. I also feel that MW2's storyline ended up "jumping the shark" bad enough to gimp MW3's story with attempts to one-up the previous iteration. The icing on this bland cake? The Call of Duty ELITE, which charges you a hefty fee to follow your stats and give you a bit of an edge against your online competition...which...EA does that for free with Battlefield and I can even remember EA doing it for Need For Speed recently. The videos and tips you can get from ELITE? You can get that on Youtube from users like Machinima for free.

Back the 1990's video games got fair and unbiased reviews. Reviewers expected a natural progression from a series' starting point going into each sequel and if that game failed to improve, it got stagnant scores or worse. To the "professional" raters that have given this game anywhere between 7 to 10, do users a favor and reflect on what field you are in and change jobs. The apex of this series was MW2 and the Call of Duty franchise has been slipping ever since. At no point is this game worth the $60 admission price. A balley-hooed patch-and-map pack release at full price. Please guys, let's not let Bobby KoTICK and crew continue to rip us off.

To be blunt, part of the low scores reflect the anger at feeling duped by critics who have given scores that only seem strengthen the belief that reviews are contingent upon a culture of satisfying the developer$ need$ at the expense of game development and industry health. Everyone understands the need to be profitable, so what you have here is the first shot across the bow that a great marketing campaign and the good will of fans of previous entries will no longer work in an annual business model. Which brings us to the extremely specialized evolution of the franchise, and not for the better. For me MW3 is still riding on the coattails of COD4: MW in terms of gameplay. MW was a hyper-realistic fast-twitch fps that had great map variation and a variety of builds/playstyles that were all viable. With MW2 you had sleeker graphics and even twitchier gameplay. The problem is that map variation and playstyle variety really started to suffer. I killed quicker, died faster, and looked prettier doing it. Unfortunately I had far less fun doing it and far less ways to do it competitively. With the advent of MW3, the game has evolved to an exclusionary extreme where map memorization and fast-twitch gameplay are 95% of the game. If your hand-eye coordination isn't top-notch or you don't invest 10+ hours a week into the game, frustration ensues. To add to the betrayal, it's almost all rehash and no innovation. Maps no longer offer any sense of variation and feel like rushed, inferior versions of previous entries in the franchise. Builds are a joke. Don't expect to properly breach with close combat builds, snipe properly from long range, or use a stealth build to gain any kind of edge. Fast-twitch and map recognition (along with a fast connection) are now kings of a long-since dead kingdom. Many of us are very angry that it cost us $60 to find out the hard way, and after being lied to ta boot by critics. Unless the franchise is revolutionized, I'll never buy another MW game. Expand

Well there 5 WW missions in Europe (1 - England, 2 - France, 2 - Germany). Other 10 missions will be Soap / Price story with really "unexpected" ending.

Stupid enemies, weird characters, worst weapon's sound (Sometimes I was turning sound off) and awful soundtrack again proves how developers care about players.

There also a Spec Ops with old Mission and new Survival Mode. But both of them suck ! All Survival maps and weapons + attachments (NOT ALL !!!) from Multiplayer. And almost every missions in Spec Ops are maps from SP Company but with different tasks (sometimes map is reversed). So all that developers said about Spec Ops before release b******t !

Now it's time for multiplayer. All what we get is two new modes, new camouflages, perks, kill and death strikes + new weapons and attachments (I didn't count maps because they always add them). Multiplayer is so unbalanced - almost everybody camps, using akimbo weapons or doing jump kills. New kill streaks so stupid. It's really easy to kill Juggernaut, and with vehicles almost impossible to kill somebody (Because everybody uses stupid perks). For unknown reason they made 3 kill streak packages. Assault (After death kill streak points reset), Support (After death kill streak points don't reset) and Specialist (You earning perks instead of usual rewards + after death kill streak points reset). What I liked is Weapon Levels. You're earning XP for weapons by killing enemies with it, then earning new Weapon Levels. With each level you unlock attachments, camouflages or proficiencies (perks for weapons). And there one last new thing - Prestige Shop. When you get new Prestige you get Prestige token. These tokens you can spend on unlocking gear or double XP or new icons and titles. That's all new in MW3 Multiplayer. So it's worst mix of all previous CoD games with few new things.

Unfortunately it's old good CoD 4: MW with all new "awesome" c**p for retarded. 2 - 3 cool trailers and Activision will get lots of money. So don't buy this game for yourself or friend or your greatest enemy because it's just a HUGE waste of your time and money.

It is just horrible of activision to release this game because the developers would have needed more time to make this. The game is mostly copy-pasted from Modern Warfare 2 and i feel that the developers had some new ideas but with the lack of time they only implemented a few. i was saddened that this game sold so much and still it is essentially just Modern Warfare 2 with a fresh coat of paint.

Modern Warfare 2 was a decent game at best, but this game is an absolute disgrace to the glory of the original Modern Warfare game. Not only is the story pointless and stale, but Spec Ops is unoriginal and the multiplayer is flawed right from its core mechanics. Worst of all, the sheer laziness reflected in this pseudo-action movie results in it being the worst value for money game ever. Everything about this game has been copy pasted from the previous games. Menu system? Looks exactly the same, albeit with a few graphical alterations. The HUD in multiplayer? Exactly the same. The graphics are so outdated right now. The only change in the aesthetic is an increase of the brightness of the textures. The character models are the same, the animations are the same. Hell, even a few buildings are ripped straight from COD4 and reskinned. Absolutely pathetic. I was hoping for a decent campaign, but all I got was a load of pointless, cliched garbage. The story is easier to follow, and characters aren't killed left and right like in MW2, but the magic that made COD4's short and sweet story awesome has faded away. The campaign desperately tries to be a Michael Bay action movie, yet takes some boring and predictable turns, except for one twist, which I did not see coming. Ending isn't much, but it isn't bad either. In summary, the "epic set pieces" are no longer "epic," and the story is unimaginative and boring.

Spec Ops is back, and is exactly the same. Short missions that may or may not be based on the campaign. Like the single player offering, this mode is merely a filler which no real flair or artistic creativity. However, there is a slightly amusing Survival mode, which pits you against the stupidest soldiers ever. Pretty much zombies, except without the zombies. Simply a gimmick, and nothing more. I enjoyed it for about...10 minutes.

Multiplayer. This is my most hated part of MW3. Remember MW2, well its back with some new guns and some new maps. You get the same old crap that MW2's annoying multiplayer had in store: Overpowered. superpower like perks, exploitable killstreaks, and maps which lack any real substance. In COD4, the maps and spawn points were designed to make every game seem like a mission. In MW3, it is just "run around, kill, die, repeat." COD4's perks weren't perfect, but at least they were actually realistic, and not superpowers. Customisable killstreaks are the worst thing though. Welcome to exploit city: population, every COD nerd. COD Elite is a joke. The maps are poorly designed. The weapons sound like crap. The people who play COD are stupid. This game is stupid.

If you have bought Modern Warfare 3, you're an idiot. If you bought Modern Warfare 3 at full price, you're twice the idiot, because there's really nothing new in this game, and the COD series now joins Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Guitar Hero as Activision's milking/already milked cows.

This game is by far the worst game that Call of Duty has created. Infinity Ward should be ashamed by how this game came out. Game play has not changed since CoD 4 and the campaign did not live up to expectations in the slightest. Multiplayer:
The absolute WORST multiplayer of them all.The weapon sounds are crazy.REALLY BAD.For example the 44 Magnum sounds like MW2's Desert Eagle!

The singleplayer was bearable to play, not as good as MW2 or Black Ops', but good. It felt like a bit of an accomplishment when I reached the end of the game, and I was satisfied. And that is the only pro for this game I can think of.

Before I get into this game, I'll let you know some of my personal stats on it so you know that I'm not just some disgruntled child who is upset that his K/D is .5.
My K/D ratio is 3.30, W/L is 1.87, I've gotten about 30-40 MOABs, and I've played about 3 days worth of time. So this is coming from a guy who is able to do quite well in this game.

Multiplayer-wise, the game makes you want to kill yourself. Typically, I don't get upset with video games, I think I might have gotten upset at MW2 a few times after it was hacked to a pulp, and a little bit at Black Ops in the first few weeks after the release for the bad spawn system, but this game takes the cake when it comes to frustrating.

Hit detection, now months after release, is still atrocious. I cannot even begin to describe how much lag has been put into this game. It's as if Infinity Ward purposefully put lag into the game.

The maps are horrible, the setting for each of them is, 'Ok, this was a place, and now there was a battle here and there's clutter all along the ground.' Because of the lag, I'm constantly getting stuck on some random piece of rubble that is on the ground.

Continuing on, the concept of putting 4+ UAV killstreaks into this game is something that is beyond me, all that the Support Strike Package does is ensure that everyone is forced to either use Assassin and Blind Eye and camp, or to try and use something other than those and get spammed to death by UAVs. It slows the game down, and it isn't right that someone can go 18 kills and 50 deaths, and earn an EMP killstreak through the Support Strike package. The killstreaks in this game are in too much of an abundance, and that turns this game into a total festival of killstreaks.

Now onto deathstreaks, oh yes, if you get killed however many times in a row, without getting a kill you get certain 'perks' to help you get kills. One of which is 'Dead Man's Hands', where you will go prone and detonate a C4 charge, killing anyone close to you. Sound cool? Not if you are about to get a MOAB and you're on the receiving end of it. Another one is 'Final Stand', where you go prone and are able to shoot your automatic weapon. Sound fair? Not until you are killed because someone had this on at the time. In keeping with the tone of the game, there are only few weapons that are worthwhile to use, and because of the fact that killstreaks dominate this game, even more than they did in MW2, everyone brings out their stealth classes with silencers. So now, everyone is using Blind Eye, Assassin, and a silenced weapon, because if you don't, you're going to get wrecked by killstreaks.

The point of this rant is to tell you that, even for someone who does well in this game, that it is extremely frustrating to play. With the oversaturation of killstreaks, particularly UAVs, Counter UAVs, Advanced UAVs, EMPs, which requires everyone to use defensive perks and play a slow-paced game, it really forces people to sit in corners.

So, if you're one who likes to actually move around on a map when you play multiplayer, you won't enjoy MW3, but if you're a person who enjoys sitting in the same corner with a stealth class every game, go on ahead and pick this game up.

I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone. Ever. Purchase Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty 4, or Black Ops, but stay away from this game at all costs.

5.5 I know multiplayer is the main focus, but singleplayer should be equaly factored into a Game. It is HORRIBLE. Thankfully, it is addicting to unlock new things and does a great job of keeping you hooked, but eventually it does get tireing. Good if you want to play private matches with friends, but other than that, don't bother on this.

Gameplay- Very repetitive, yet addicting to a certain degree. Graphics- Ok, but no real memorable scenes or arcitechture.

Sound- Effects are good, music is forgettable. Presentation- Story is taken too seriously and one death of a main character is not nearly as emotional as the game thinks it is. Basic FPS.

Very good if you have friends who can play with you, other than that, skip it.

The only saving grace is the campaign which I have loved since COD 4 and the spec ops survival mode which can become boring after several hours. Overall, this is a disappointing entry into the call of duty franchise, with the mw2 maps around the corner; maybe, just maybe, they can save the multiplayer. However, I doubt that. Expand

It works, but it's not as good as the others. A slight shame to the Call of Duty series, but not as big a mess as Declassified. 6/10 Sentry Busters riding on horses.

While some say its the same game as the last one, its decently enjoyable. The special ops survival and missions were nice. Probably the only thing I enjoyed. As in any FPS game these days, you have a bunch of invincible teammates that do absolutely nothing unless in scripted events, and only die when the plot tells them to. Getting shot in the head during a cutscene kills them, but not two rockets to the face, a grenade, 78 knife slashes, and 17 bullets from a sniper rifle to the face(That is, if the game wouldn't give you a friendly fire warning. This statement about the cutscene applies to most FPS games these days.) Somehow, Only one Delta operator is capable of killing all the enemies. The rest just stand there shooting, getting stunned from the bullets, and shouting at you to get on the machinegun, do this, do that, do everything. Enemies seem to gang up on the player first, because if the player dies, game over. The player is the only mortal in a squad of immortals. And multiplayer? I found it boring. Expand

New mw2 map pack .There was alot of hype building up to this game, being the proceedor of both Modern Warfare's. Played the first few missions of the campaign. The graphics disappointed me, and it was just the same as any other Call of Duty campaign. The series is getting very old now.

I knew this would happen eventually. Activision using the same game engine year after year, treating this series as if its Guitar Hero, another series they ran into the ground. Activision is good at making money, but they have no idea what it means to be a gamer. They are out of touch, and this game is proof of that.

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.

By sticking to the series' strengths, Modern Warfare 3 delivers some of the best competitive, cooperate, and single-player shooting in the business.
