    Yes, I played this game.
    Why?
    1. The whole game is like GTA 3.5 - ok, not a BIG problem.
    2. Bugs? Ok, it's 'normal' ...
    3. Camera - where is dynamic camera?
    4. Collision system.. really?
    5. Crowd system control - I thought after all ACs this would be mastered to perfection.
    6. Physics?
    7. Mechanics?

and so many other 'little' things...

Very boring missions, terrible car handling and bad performance sums this game up.

When I played some of the missions I was like uh **** I don't want to do that let me do something fun. When driving the cars they handled horribly. The handling is comparable to that of saints row 3. When driving at high speeds my game would stutter and the game looks ugly as hell on max settings.

Graphic looks awful, worse than GTA IV or some old games. Hacking with one button? Well, this is not hacking at all! What is different on this game than other's? Definitively bugs, more than any game what you have played. I'm going to run this game on xbox 360. I know, graphic will be much worse but at least I can play it. If you have AMD graphic, forget about this game, luckily I don't. Don't waste time with that game, it's completely trash. Expand

Bare through the game for the first 20-30 minutes and you'll be rewarded richly.

The hand-holding tutorial is a bit too much and you aren't given any time to adjust your settings without missing some parts of the story which caused me to have to restart the campaign. Which meant I had to sit through the entire unskippable intro movie one more time than I would have liked, but

Which meant I had to sit through the entire unskippable intro movie one more time than I would have liked, but fortunately it was only one time and not with every save/load.

The driving takes some getting use to, it is different from what I would have expected. I crashed into everything at first but after 30 minutes or so I was weaving through traffic like a pro.

The story is better than I expected so far, and I'm enjoying it.

The in-game minigames are awesome fun - especially the carmaggeddon and spider tank games. I also enjoyed Alone.

The multi-player is amazingly fun. I still remember the feeling when the first person invaded my game. The ensuing panic was just epic! Couldn't wait to return the favour.

There are some issues with the game however. The vehicle damage model doesn't update properly in the event of a major collision. If I crash head-on into a truck the car should be totalled, not just have a tiny scratch. The game definitely supports more collision models as your car will look really bad after a few minutes of crashing into things, but it needs to jump to this state faster for bigger collisions.

There are still some framerate issues as well which I hope they resolve soon. I was using the Watch dogs ready drivers from Nvidia.

The graphics looks really good and I am spoilt for choice.

Current review is 8, but I will make it a 9 once the frame rate issues are resolved and the collision models jump sufficiently on a high magnitude collision.

The Graphics is good at night, but i hate the plastic Faces of most of the characters, it should be better for a new generation game.

The driving mechanics also feels terrible, and if u want to adjust the camera, sometimes it just jumps way too far.

The killing animation with the baton is always the same and sneaking feels terrible because of it. I dont think hitting someone with a baton is silent and you can't stranglehold someone for a shooting. Its not much but it should be possible.

There are plenty good open world games, which have more to do, better animation even if they are some years older. I just dont understand why Ubisoft isnt able to make a game with penty more features. Like every other game of ubisoft u can discover everything in Act 1 and test every hacking skill.

Terrible PC port. The optimization is abysmal. The story is completely boring. Regarding the game play, think of it as a glorified assassins creed set in current time. I have a pretty high end PC and suffer from fps drops while driving or doing any other stuff. Also, ultra settings don't live up to the quality of the demo shown a while back. Don't buy it, or just wait until Ubisoft fixes it.

All in all, this is a freaking abomination. The graphics looks nothing like the 2012 trailer, with all the poor texture and visual effects. Hell, they said that this game's engine got some parts of Assassin's Creed IV and FarCry 3's visual combined, but I'd rather play FarCry 3 or Assassin's Creed IV for better visuals. Also, the driving mechanic is a huge train wreck that I'd rather walk or run most of the time. The acceleration and turning performance is super sensitive that it's so hard to drive straight. And the cover system, I love that I could stick myself to any piece of cover I could find and then switch cover quite easily. But press C to enter cover and press V to leave cover?? What the hell is that? Ubisoft has released many games utilizing cover mechanic, and some worked really nicely and here I thought they would have taken adventage of that, but no. And the main event - hacking is needless to say, disappointing. All you have to do is press and hold one single button on your keyboard and "boom!", whatever you were aiming to hack is taken care of. No deep hacking mechanic whatsoever although it was the one thing Ubisoft has been talking about a whole lot. And performance is also a pain in the ass. When I first played this game, it reminded me of Total War Rome II on its release. It's just so bad...all around. Expand

The voice acting of the main character is definitely terrible and unfitting. Story is decent but how it is presented is won't amaze you. As for PC elements, maxing out the game is easy with my graphics card (GTX 770M). HOWEVER you won't notice a difference much between low and ultra settings even with maxed MSAA besides the water. The Critic reviews on this are obviously bought and paid for, so take them with a grain of salt.

The graphics in the game are underwhelming to say the least -- and this was supposed to be it's strong selling point. This is also under the premise that the game is playable for you at a decent frame rate, which as of the date of writing this it isn't for everyone. Lots of trouble there.

That being said, go look at the last review of Grand Theft Auto and add in a that it's an awful port with a less than engaging story involving characters you'll find it very hard to care about, the controls are about as sluggish as possible with no hope of fine movements without a lot of trial and error sensitivity changes outside of the game, and a story line that just doesn't make much sense.

This game is at best Grand Theft Auto with a focus on hacking. At worsts, it's a really bad Grand Theft Auto with a focus on hacking. Don't get me wrong, the idea of hacking is a great inclusion -- you just can't insert it into what looks like an attempt at a rockstar game and hope it carries the weight all by itself.

Compared to GTA IV, the NPCs are much, much more "real." They react as you would expect. Just taking out a gun starts to make people panic and run away. In GTA IV you can run around carrying a missle launcher without anyone caring -- really? They also tend to actually get out of your way -- unless they're facing the other direction, of course. Then just a gentle tap will get their attention.

Anyway, what really makes Watch_Dogs great is that it sets the world up to allow you to be immersed. If that's not your thing, you probably won't be rating it 10/10. Even then, it's still a nice main story.

PS: Why compare it to GTA IV? Well GTA V doesn't even exist on the PC. Hardly fair to compare games cross console. That's really just a rant - at least Ubisoft is still fully willing to make PC games. That's more than I can say for R*. A game with some Day-One bugs is much, much better than no game at all. Although personally, I've only run into a couple of graphical glitches.

first of all: Don't let the low user score scare you from this title. It's a good game.
Ubisoft made people wait a hole year for this game, and after that, another year. That made impossible surpass the expectations. That probably happened because the game is too ambitious.
The game lacks its own style and looks like a copy of GTA, but that don't make it a bad game.

Car driving should be improved. I agree it's **** right now. Feels I'm driving with a d-pad rather than analog. Runs fine on my hardware too.

Runs fine on my hardware too. Some people are upset because they don't know how to adjust the settings of the game to suit their machine and have good performance. They think adjusting = everything ultra + should run @ 60FPS. I've seen even people with low end machines complaining they cant play at max settings with 60 fps... smh.

Go play on consoles then, the experience will be worst by a far margin.

I don't understand why people are saying there is nothing to do in the city. It is, quite literally, littered with side quests and missions to accomplish. I was only 3 to 4 missions in when I ended up spending about 6 hours just doing side missions. Voice acting is top notch and so is the sound design. Weapons have a really good feel and hit targets squarely and with nice effects.
Upgrades and perks are really good as well. You get a vast array of upgrades tied to contant perks your doing in game. You also get upgrades for side missions and other things as well. To be honest, there's so much to upgrade you'll be choosing wisely.
Don't believe the haters. There's a LOT to do in the city. A lot. There's a plethora of vehicles to be had and some really nice weapons to attain. The story is done well enough and the cars handle about the same as GTA V or Sleeping Dogs. Motorcycles are done much better. If you're looking for something fun to play with an interesting premise then give it a try. Rent it if you must. The game is not breaking any barriers in the adventure/shooter department but it is really fun to ride it out and find everything you possibly can to do. I never ran out of missions on my first playthrough and I had quite a few missions give me a run for my money. All in all, I'm quite happy with my purchase and will be playing it again tackling different objectives from a different angle.
Between Watch Dogs and the release of the new Wolfenstein it has been a great two weeks or game releases. Decide for yourself, do NOT read into all these negative reviews. One thing is very certain on forums such as these. 99% of the posts will be angry, illiterate and nonsensical. While 99% of the posts are bad, that 99% only makes up 1% of actual players. The rest of the 99% playing the game is enjoying it immensely and have no reason to even post anything because they're not having any problems of any sort. I'd give Metacritic a few weeks until some positive reviews from people that are actually playing the ame with no problems and wickedly enjoying themselves put in their two cents. Bunch of haters on here to be honest.

I must admit the driving is god awful and I get constant frame skips whilst driving so I had to lower the texture quality from High to Medium even though the game runs really smooth whilst on foot. Controlling driving is probably the worst I have seen in a third person open world game ever, EVER, even with a gamepad. Besides driving, the game is really solid, the world feels alive, and with the help of the profiler gadget, it really helps humanise the NPC's. The hacking game mechanic is a really nice feature and can cause some really amazing action sequences and cop chase strategies. Stealth is really fun, gunplay is nice and smooth, haven't finished the story mode yet but from what I've played it's not too bad. Do I recommend you get this game? Probably not. Running this on an i7 and a 780ti it looks pretty but still struggles with frame rates.

All in all, the the concepts are good in this game but it feels like they've been bolted together without any thought. The hacking becomes dull quickly and the vehicles have zero weight and therefore are terrible to drive.

Personally, I'd give this a miss.

I don't take sides while reviewing an usually review games with an open mind. Watch dogs indeed did not live up to the hype which was provided at E3 but it still provides a fair experience worth $60.
    The pros.
    1. It's nice to see a new concept such as hacking being introduced into a game like this. It can though get somewhat repetitive. 2. The graphics are quite nice at high settings

    The pros.
    1. It's nice to see a new concept such as hacking being introduced into a game like this. It can though get somewhat repetitive.
    2. The graphics are quite nice at high settings and I get a steady 45 FPS with my nvidia 650 ti boost. If no one has been watching there was a driver released optimism watch dogs.
    3. The open world and the sheer volume to explore is astounding. Many times I find myself just wandering off from the story mission to explore the open world.
    4. Relatable story. I found I had quite a number of hair raising situations during the story. The feeling of just was ting to slap Damien( the antagonist) was constantly there.
    The cons.
    1. The driving as many said was absolutely horrendous. I found many cars were either over steering or under steering. It becomes an absolute headache at times during fixer contracts and story missions. It does become easier with a controller such as an xbox controller.
    2. The MENU is atrocious. It was clearly made for consoles. Many times during fire fights I switch to guns I don't want and the phone is also hard to navigate. How hard is
It to put a mouse there?
    3. Enemies apparently have pixel perfect accuracy especially snipers who seem to hit you with every shot even while running.
    4. The uplay service is just...ugh I won't even say it. I also get hackers into my game like way too often so much so that I disable it.
    5. Citizens over react 90% of the time. EVEN WHEN BEHIND A WALL. I hid behind a wall with a spec ops 1911 they apparently spotted me through the wall and called the police.
    6. Unrealistic guns. I had a M107 and it took 2 damn shots to kill an elite? It's a damn .50 bang round not even the best body armor can protect against that. So much for realism. This brings another point, elites absorb bullets like BBs and even a goblin with a with a whole mag won't being them down. This fondly reminds me of a review done on ride to hell where only headshots do anything.
    Conclusion.
It was still a fun game but many flaws pull the whole rating down. I still enjoyed it though much like saints row.

The game as shipped is unplayable, even on a high end machine it jumps and stutters at the lowest of settings. The graphics are less impressive than those of GTAIV or the latest in the hitman series, leaving this game with few excuses for poor performance. Performance has been very inconsistent for me so far. Memory leaks, maybe? Probably. Framerate drops from 80 to practically 0, especially during driving sequences. I've tried various graphics settings. It makes minimal to no **** difference. Meanwhile i can run and play graphical, sandbox behemoths like Planetside 2 and Just Cause 2 without any **** hiccups whatsoever. The latter, albeit an older game, looks vastly superior compared to this consolified piece of **** Even on Ultra settings, it's vastly inferior compared to older titles. Anyway. This ****'s unplayable for me in this state. As if the terrible draw distance and constant pop in wasn't annoying enough. The mouse acceleration is less noticeable in-game but it's a pain in the ass when it comes to navigating the games menus. Yes, there's mouse acceleration. That alone is sufficient proof that this is a ****ty port. The car handling is floaty and the controls feel unresponsive. There's quite a delay when making turns and the cars end up sliding all over the place. Can't hit **** without starting to spin out like a carousel. I expected better from Ubisoft Reflections in terms of vehicle handling. As far as i know, they've contributed to the development and worked on the game's car physics. I just hope that they put more care and effort into The Crew than they did into this. It reminds me of the awful car handling of All Points Bulletin. It's as if you are ridding on a sluggish, clunky block of ice regardless of the car's size or type you commandeer. It's just awful. And this is coming from a long time fan of the Driver games. Do i need to even rant about Uplay?

Good luck even launching the game if you're a ATI/AMD user! That's when happens you reward developers/publishers who are more concerned about the well being of their rich **** financiers than they're about the state of their games or their consumers.

    It is not.

This point is actually important because if you keep comparing this with GTA you will fail so I suggest you to compare this game with AC series for more accurate feeling.

I'll start with the graphics. Although they are not as good as E3 demo, graphics are actually quite nice but there are some stuff like fake reflection that kinda throws you out of that universe but textures and waters are awesome. And by saying waters are awesome they are INCREDIBLY awesome. Seriously, Ubi should promote the hell out of people dealing with water stuff. Other than that graphics are not as bad as people say they are.

I'll agree with music though, it REALLY sucks. I mean I can understand that they don't want to spend a lot of money with copyright stuff but they should've thrown some famous hit songs here and there that will make you feel badass. You may have experienced some audio stuttering so for that I STRONGLY suggest you to do the following:

    -Create a shortcut of watchdogs.exe
-right click->properties->add "-disablepagefilecheck" without quotes at the end of the "target" section

Since this is a Ubi game, it is filled with bugs and optimization problems (as expected from Ubi) so I think you might wanna wait until a patch fix or Nvidia update for optimization but by adding -disablepagefilecheck, I managed to get all stuttering to stop and experienced an acceptable overall framerate

The story is actually quite good, I mean it is a little bit cliche but characters feel real (unlike Connor from AC3...god I hated that character...). Also hacking stuff is kinda fun but it might get repetitive over time. Also Ubi could have spent a bit more time and resources to make this game open as hell; for instance by adding hacking option to a lot of buildings to see inside of the apartments. I mean they have that in the game but they could've made it in every building and with random results (sometimes the apartment could be empty or could have several different scenes, like at first there are some couples arguing and at a later time those couples are divorcing etc...). Hacking through stuff to see everywhere is a giant privacy problem, one that could be used to create an amazingly immersive world. Random npc reactions around are good enough IMO so the city feels live enough.

Car physics feels really weak though. Most of the time it is just you driving a carton box around, it doesn't have the "car" feeling to it. Although there are a lot of side quests and collectibles around, it gets repetitive easily and you start to feel that they are just burden to you and skip them. On a side note, I STRONGLY suggest you to try out the spider-tank minigame, because that was THE most fun I've ever had in this game!

AI is really cool. They don't pop their heads for no reason and tactically they do fine against you (flanking and shooting at you the moment you pop your head out). Also I find the options of hacking before and while fighting satisfying. You can use cameras to see the battlefield and approach tactically to it by using different hacking tools on your opponents' technology.

Generally the game is actually quite nice and different, even though it doesn't have that "next gen" feeling to it so I can understand fellow reviewers' disappointment with it but I suggest you to buy this game and play it, you are not going to be sorry, as long as you don't see this game as "The ultimate hacking game" or "GTA-Killer" rather than "an action game in which you use hacking and guns to get around".

The terrible optimization coupled with layers of DRM to keep you from playing makes you question if playing the game is worth playing before you even start it up.

No matter where you buy Watch Dogs, you will have to install Uplay to continue. Don't like it? Too bad.
Since Uplay is a necessary component to play this game, it should be included in the review. And as a game service, it's pretty terrible. With little customization, and attempting to mimic the gimmicks of the Xbox interface, along with intruding, in-your-face ads. The servers are barely able to handle the amount of people they knew would be buying the game and going through Uplay. All this would have been avoided if Uplay wasn't required.

For Uplay, as a game service, I give a 0/10.

Now, for Watch Dogs. The game was made for consoles, and as such, optimized for them. It was also made for PC, but then not optimized at all. Anyone with AMD cards will have a hard time running the game with decent FPS, and Nvidia users aren't better off, still having problems with FPS with high end graphics cards. The bugs, glitches, and crashes are all very bad for game that was delayed months. The bugs aren't even minor, with some making it difficult to continue to downright making you have to stop playing.

For the game, from what I was able to experience, I give a 2/10.

Taking the scores of both, ends with still 0/10.

The game isn't in a stage that it should have been released at. This is comparable to the WarZ release and controversy. It's unplayable and hates you for wanting to play it. Ubisoft will seemingly never learn.

The chase scenes are more than just chasing and catching, you can use the world around you to manipulate the way it plays out, also with slow motion it makes it easier to observe your sorroundings amidst the chaos.
So far the storyline is ok, its definitely picking up (played about 5 hours so far)
The graphics might not be as good on consoles as was showcased , but on pc, they are just as good as was shown in E3.
Some side missions get repetitive but there is ALOT to do.

Very hyped and overall shallow game despite it being a sandbox. Controls are awkward and most of the missions are not impressive. There is nothing new here that you have not done in GTA. Multiplier is interesting for the first few hours but the fever dies down really quickly as there is little replay value.

The game is exactly not what was shown at E3. From stupid driving to disgusting "next-gen" graphics the game is simply terrible. It also doesn't help that it tries to hard to be and beat GTA V which was a 10/10. Therefore I give Watch Dogs a solid and generous 0/10.

Quite possibly the most overhyped blunder of the new-gen. Horrible optimization, horrible graphics that we were outright lied to at E3, AI is abysmal, gunplay is abysmal, the list goes on if you want just scroll down and read through the negative reviews. They're mostly all true.

Can't even launch the game because of Uplay, until Ubisoft gets rid of the idiotic 'service' don't buy anything from them. This isn't the first time Uplay has caused issues for me either, having previously deleted 6 hours of game progress in AC4.

So I pay £45 for this game and find that I can't even play it because Ubisoft's servers are down all night.

Fine, well implementing DRM was your choice Ubisoft, as was deciding not to ensure you had sufficient servers when launching a major title. Scoring this game a 0, well, that's my choice.

The downgraded graphics aren't even the worst part... The game suffers major slowdowns, especially while driving and even on the lowest settings you'll be sitting around 15-30 fps, and this is all on a high end system.. The controls aren't any better, with forced mouse acceleration, smoothing and lack of cursor in certain menus for navigation.

What about game play? Hahahahaha, you must be joking if you think there's anything to do in this maze-like city they call an "open world". Driving is the worst of any open world game I've played. Car physics are so bad, it feels like you're driving a slab of concrete on ice. And the profiling crimes that take place are a joke. It's so repetitive and stale: Go help the woman being harassed, go chase the criminal with string A.I. No thanks.

Digital trips are probably the worst aspect of all this. Cause mayhem with your spider tank! Run over demons with your car! But why? To compete in online leader boards. These side activities have nothing to do with the game itself and feel tacked on more than anything else. They are stupid, uninspired mini-games trying to be over-the-top and whacky just for the sake of it, without giving you any real benefit. I'd rather play Mario Party.

Then there are the bugs and the horrible A.I. I just don't know what to say about this game anymore. It's a joke that's asking you for $60 and a few hours of your itme, a pathetic attempt at trying to be something profound and unique that just ends up embarrassing itself for all it's shortcomings.

    Avoid. Like. The. Plague.

Much like battlefield (they even marketed this) allows for the emergence of those battlefield moments, Los Santos and LC managed to offer the kind of sandbox in which great things CAN happen. Ubisoft's attempt at this seems to have failed, the city doesn't feel real, the activities seem limited, the streets appear sterile and artificial. All of this is underlined by the physics of driving that just do not create the sense of weight and speed that GTA has gotten gamers used to. Also, the hype surrounding the game and the 6 month delay really means that Ubisoft had to deliver a gamechanger, instead they gave us a mediocre open world game...like sleeping dogs minus the moves or Just Cause 2 minus flying...or Saints Row minus the madness. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sadly, just as I had expected, Watch Dogs and all of its legions of obsessed, blind fans would fall victim to the hype train. It was clear when how much controversy surrounding the graphical downgrade of the game when Ubisoft had done the same thing with nearly every single demo they had done in recent memory (Far Cry 3 immediately comes to mind) that this would be different. Even if the game was absolutely perfect, people would still have been disappointed and angry because, for two years, they were being so ridiculously hyped up that Watch Dogs would never live up to their expectations.

For PC, running a Superclocked GTX 770 2GB with a 4.3GHz 4670k, it is fairly unoptimized. I DID fix a lot of my stuttering issues, however, by changing from fullscreen to borderless window so that could help a lot of people having issues. The game is still quite amazing looking with textures on high and everything else maxed, the water and reflections in particular are gorgeous and the lighting during overcast can be absolutely beautiful. The downgrade from E3 is noticeable, but I'm pretty sure that was going to be obvious judging by Ubi's previous exploits. The most major issue graphically has to be the pop-in though. That needs to be sorted out.

Now, for gameplay. Watch Dogs definitely thrives on how fun it is. Combinations of shooting, hacking, and stealth all provide incredibly rewarding ways to complete missions, gang hideouts, etc. I found many of this more comparable to Splinter Cell than anything else, in fact, which combined with your hacking abilities definitely isn't a bad thing. I am neutral towards the driving; it is very slidey and arcadey, which some people will love and some people will hate. I find it fun at times but it can also be very frustrating to handle, especially on KB/M. The progression system involves getting XP by doing various things in the game, and similar to the latest Deus Ex going stealthy will net you much more XP than going in guns blazing, which some may dislike. I personally found it a good incentive as I normally dislike stealth games but found it fairly enjoyable in this one. There are skill trees that range from hacking to combat to crafting, all of which you can invest in with skill points gained as you level. These provide a good sense of progression.

The coolest part about the game is probably the digital trips, which are extremely Saints Row-esque silly mini games where you'll blow things up in a spider tank or run over demons in a muscle car, among others. Some of these games even have their own skill trees and leveling systems. Definitely very fun and zany departures from the main game which, oddly enough, you can invest hours in at a time. Now, to one of the worst parts of the game.

The story simply isn't up to par. It's a classic revenge story overplayed time and time again, with most of the characters lacking any interesting or compelling traits. Aiden is the generic, grainy voiced action hero, who gets caught up in a larger plot as his quest for revenge gets him involved in even more trouble as his sister is kidnapped by his old partner. Its not a horrible story, and it is wonderfully voice acted and is extremely solid in length (~35 hours) but it is definitely not very memorable. The real star of the game is probably the city and its pedestrians.

The game world has a surprising amount of variety. There are poor slums, rich high rise districts, quiet suburban sprawls, and dark, secluded backwoods areas. There is a sufficient amount of creepy mysteries. easter eggs, and collectibles spread throughout the game world along with a ton of varied side missions for you to do. Each pedestrian has their own story that you can access using the profile, where you can see their age, occupation, income, and any hobbies or unique traits they have. I thought there would be obvious repetition after an hour or so but it is very few and far in between and I still find new traits that I often laugh at.

So, Watch Dogs did not live up to the hype, but that was next to impossible anyway. It is still a very fun and enjoyable open world game with a solid amount of content and fun refinements to the genre.

Leading up to watch dogs I was very excited to see a hacking game which would allow you to interact with a huge portion of the world. After playing for four hours I am thoroughly disappointed. Here is a quick break down of what I noticed.

    Pros:
    - The world is generally very detailed, which is great for a feeling of immersion.
    - The Skill tree does open up a number of new options for your approach.
    - There is a good amount of variety in the missions available to play, but mimics Saints or GTA.
    - There is a distinct lack of obnoxious mini-games, which for a hacking eccentric game, is nice.

    Cons:
    - Within the first 20 minutes, you will notice the driving is absolutely god-awful, it gets a little better, but every car feels like driving a tug-boat on wheels with balded tires and an super sensitive gas pedal.
    - The skill tree is pretty disappointing, it opens up new options, but nothing is going to make you go "Ohh! that is so cool!" Its more like, "whoooh I can open gates now..."
    - The side missions, are either super freaking easy, or uncontrollably hard and obnoxious, but not the challenging hard you would get from playing dark souls, no its the challenge you get by having dial-up when playing BF4.
    - The hacking is all press and hold, which is a little too simplistic, and excessively boring, there is no simulated or other 'hacking' in the game. Just a simple mini-game to build a hacking program or hack complex devices would of been nice.

    And the controversial one.
    - Its not optimized for **** My friends who have Nvidia cards are able to run the game fine, assuming 2G of Vram and 8G+ of ram. However, having an AMD card, I can't run the game past low, even though I can run all of the other recent games at high or very high... This would be due to Nividias 'Gameworks' Libraries. Personally, if Ubisoft chooses to use this library which employs some nasty tricks I will not be buying those games, even if I end up having an Nividia card. I would like to support a competitive market.

This information is crucial to prove my following point). For Watch Dogs, I started out with max settings but the frame rate was too low, so I lowered a few settings here and there. I eventually got 40-50fps on high settings, with some ultra. But the game would very frequently drop to 1-3fps, about 5-10 secs for every 20 secs of normal fps. This happens regardless of whether the scene is complicated or not. I lowered the settings further but the dip in FPS was still there. It was then that I realised it wasn't that my PC is incapable of running the game. It's that the game wasn't even programmed to make use of such hardware. When I check the GPU usage, both of my GPUs were barely working above their idle rate.

As much as I wanted to love this game because GTA 5 doesn't seem to be coming to PC, I have no choice but to rate it this low, to save other gamers from paying $60 to get turkey slapped by Ubisoft.

Note: Yes, all my drivers are up to date. The Nvidia driver 337.88 is even touted to make playing Watch Dogs a better experience.

It may very well work better on any console but for the PC this port is a joke; the port of Dark Souls one ran better than this.

First off, for whatever reason the moment I loaded the game the camera zoomed in to about twice what it should and made cutscenes akward and gameplay unplayable. PC gaming is more complex than console but I have no idea how slipped Ubisoft by.

Second off, I own a GTX 780 and computer to use it and I can't run this game on ultra. I've even seen reports of people with the same high end card having trouble running the game on low. Not only are the graphics lower than what was shown in trailers but it's optimized like a joke. If you have a high end pc don't think this is another great game for you.

You may have noticed my review had nothing to do with the game and that is true. This is because I cannot play the game!! I can't even speak of the controls, story, or system of the game as I can't get to them in a manor that they were meant to be played. How can a game that achieved gold before relasing and had this much hype fail harder than the PC port for Dark Souls or even Battlefield 4?

It's very rare I preorder a game unless the compnay or ip has proven to be worth it (aka Valve or Bioshock) but this has taught me a lesson I should have already guessed. Never preorder anything from Ubisoft because I never will again after this failure.

Everyone just keeps comparing it to GTA which is not a credible source. They are two totally different games, and in my honest opinion Watch Dogs is better. You feel like you are immersed in a city. Its not lifeless like people on here are saying. NPC's are not stupid, there is alot to do in the city. The gameplay, and the motion feels refreshing. Steady 60fps for me, no hiccups. The story is really interesting, and grabs you right from the beginning. I have been a gamer for over half of my life, and this is the most interesting/refreshing game out there. Everything it does is new. You feel like you are playing a game that does a good job in stepping into the new generation. The skill tree is a great addition. You feel like you are gaining progress throughout the entire game. Now I can see why people have problems with this game. If you don't have a great computer you may face some perfermance issues, but seriously guys its 2014 upgrade your PC. Less than 8 gigs ram, and I wouldn't even try to play this game. Another problem that I have is the driving. It was pretty tough for me to get used to, but eventually once I grasped the controls it actually became a real joy to drive around. Hacking is pretty linear, but it has its freedom. Honestly the free roam is endless. There are so many things to do in the game world, and I haven't even tried multiplayer yet. Please for the sake of everybody DO NOT listen to GTA fanboys. DO NOT listen to the people who have crap PCs saying this game is garbage. Play this game for yourself it is not a waste of 60 bucks. Watch Dogs is a great game whit the originality, Don't compare it with GTA 5 or Saints Row, those two game are good but Watch dogs is different open world game and more than that, its not only being the bad guy using a gun. Watch dogs is better than that. This game was more focusing on hacking, that never appear in other game, Enjoy the hacking, it's a nex gen game!

    Very bad game..

    -very bad optimization
    -a lot of bugs
    -bad driving system
    -bad shooting system
-you cant not squat when you want
    -boring optional mission
-hacking? You just press one button.
Game on low details works and look worse than gta IV on medium/high.

Watch_Dogs is just overhyped game. Hacking is fun for first 10 min, then it's kinda boring. Police can be pain in the bottom sometimes, kinda similar to GTA V (citizens are going to be using their phones to call emergency because of every little misbehavior). Only think I like about it is how they did Chicago (PC - max settings). But how people are going to enjoy it in this buggy and unfinished piece of nonsense, I don't know. I also don't know how much people will must pay if they want to play all DLC's... Expand

    4. Muliplayer is well...it usually boils down to the target hiding in really empty place where you can't track him unnoticed or its just take the fastest car and leaves you. I kinda like the fact that you can be invaded all of a sudden but again it boils down to someone having a faster car.
    5. Gunplay is quite boring. All that hacking stuff becomes boring and repetitive at the 4-5th time.
    6. AI is ok. Nothing special
    7. Music is terrible except the part where you have to hack another player. Radio is just awful

Again. They had alotof experience with AC series and still failed to come up with something original. Minigames doesnt make the sandbox interesting. The world around you lacks on ambient noises and that makes the world around you even more empty.

This game has 9 different editions and the season pass doesn't even cover all the available DLC, to add insult to injury it also uses uplay DRM on top of steam. I guess you can view those points as problems with the publisher instead of the game's fault - that's why I didn't factor those into my score, nonetheless they are here so you can make an educated purchase or not.

I guess you can view those points as problems with the publisher instead of the game's fault - that's why I didn't factor those into my score, nonetheless they are here so you can make an educated purchase or not.

Now about the game itself. Ubisoft has promised us a true next-gen experience (whatever that actually means) but Watch_Dogs fails to deliver in almost every regard.

    - The PC Version is very unoptimized and is crash prone, there are also crashes related to AMD AND Nvidia drivers but you can't fully blame them for this.
    - Graphics on ultra doesn't look that good yet the game requires big hardware for it (see point above for why)
    - Car Handling is really bad
    - AI is overly scripted and generally bad; Examples: When you are in a vehicle and drive onto the rails the trains will do a full stop for you - even if they have just 4m to hit you which brings us to the next point
    - Physics are very, very bad. Generally the game feels like GTA on training wheels, Cars and trains will do physical impossible full stops to get out of your way, there is no real deforming/damage models on vehicles, you can hop out of moving trains without any injury, drive your bike with full speed into a wall and it just stops, then you drive backwards against a pole and your car is flung 100m into the air.
    - Missions are repetitive and not fun after a while, the story is also a kind of hit and miss. There is really no character development
    - The most notorious flaw however is lazy developers/ Lack of detail: Poor Water detail (no spray when you shoot it, static waves etc), static shadows, reflections are phony - they only reflect static images no cars, NPCs or even the protagonist, lack of vehicle damage model, most decorations are static and can't be destroyed by driving your car into it, no scratching walls with your vehicle, invisible walls everywhere, overdone minigames with little to no change to them, shooting civilians always kills them with a single bullet even if you hit their pinky. Hacking is very boring after 1-2hrs in the game, always the same pattern (very much like a problem with the AC series), speaking of Assasins Creed: They even copied the run animation for Watch dogs, do some sprinting and you will recognize it.

There really is no excuse for all that laziness for a game that promised a nextgen experience and even went so far to compare itself (in it's own ads) with GTA. GTA4 does everything in the detail category better and was released 2008! Also it's highly modable which can put it above this game graphic wise and still perform better.
I'd give this 3/10 but as so many idios give it 10 to "even out" the bad reviews, well I'm doing that too.

Watch Dogs is really nice looking, but still doesn't live up to the E3 footage - there are no impressive wind effects, light doesn't cast any shadows and there are no working mirror effects in the game. Pretty much the best looking things in the game are puddles at night. The gunplay works, but is nothing special and so do the ragdoll physics. Pretty much the best looking things in the game are puddles at night. The gunplay works, but is nothing special and so do the ragdoll physics. That said, physics in general (collisions, environment destruction) are just broken - bus stops completely fall apart at the lightest impact, but every vehicle in the game is just about indestructible and no damage is shown to occur to it. In addition to that, the game has invisible walls, as well as trains clipping through bridges and other very noticeable bugs. The hacking mechanics are simple button prompts and honestly don't go further than that. They're a gimmick put in to make Watch Dogs stand out, but fail, since they're not integrated into the gameplay enough. The AI is plain stupid - civilians don't react to the player shooting, even if they're just on the other end of the street and could clearly notice that; the police are blind and hiding behind the dashboard of your car in the middle of the street is enough to throw them off your tail and there is no way to be harmed if you run into traffic or in front of the train, since cars and trains just stop immediately if you step in front of them, regardless of the speed they were moving with. The story of the game is pretty decent and really well acted, but nowhere near the 40 hours the developers talked about (it took me around 14 hours to get through and I see people having similar times online). Ubi$oft really dropped the ball on this one. I guess the delay didn't help at all.

The game launched with many bugs and complaints. One of the biggest ones is the need to install uPlay and launch it through steam everytime before you play as a sort of middleman who really hates you.

The game crashes constantly, if you can even get in the game that is.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

Conclusion, you should play this game and make your own conclusions, but right now its just not worth the full price, the experience is ok, but you'll want to erase this from your memory quickly when you complete it.

Nothing could have realistically lived up to the immense level of hype that Ubisoft stirred up for this game, and while I value strong narratives and envelope-pushing technological advancements, I place just as much importance in the ability to enjoy the gameplay that's being offered to me. Watch Dogs is one of the more exciting sandbox games of the last few years, and if this is to become Ubisoft's next big franchise, I'm excited to see where they take it.
