While this set up to being an interesting and innovative game, watch dogs falls short of the mark; not due to glitches, bugs, down-scaled graphics or over-hype but poor design choices and poor development. Ultimately the games spectacular ideas and concepts are lost and in the end it doesn't quite compare to other games of its ilk.

Now I say the design choices were poor because the ideas and concepts behind the game had so much more potential then what was given to use. For instance, the games world is constantly active with NPCs, objectives and missions but it never changes in any meaningful way, it never evolves or responds to what we do or whats happening in the story. The city at the start of the game is exactly the same as the city at the end of the game. There are also many other smaller annoyances like control frequently being taken away from the player, unresponsive scenes & controls, no save feature, tedious checkpoints that make the player re-watch long cut-scenes or dialogue, unskippable cut-scenes and dialogue and at times poor explanations, instructions or descriptions.

However watch dogs all up is not a bad game, the plot is extremely interesting and it couples with the open world anarchy is the only thing that kept me plaything the game to its end. Multiplier is also a blast, I just wish the game would stop prompting me to play it every 2 minutes and let me get on with the single player. And while the world never changes there is a wealth of content and fun to be had in it.

Overall I score this game a SIX out of TEN, its definitely a game I enjoyed and will spend more time in, but in the end I don't feel it has the replay value needed for an open world genre and in the end will sadly be left on my self to wait a couple of years before I could ever go back to it. And if anyone from ubisoft reads this I simply disappointed with the lack features you could have juiced from such a brilliant, interesting, unique idea and concept as watch dogs.

This game is great! Game play is fun and extremely interactive. Can't wait for the patches to smooth things out. That is why I give this game a 9 and not a 10, is because of the technical sloppiness.

You will get stuck in side missions that you cannot find any way to drop. Once you pick it up and fail at it 15 times the only way to get around this is to start a new game. Then you will never play a side mission again for fear that you will be stuck in that side mission and never ever complete the game.

The game will force you to play in ways you just don't want to play. You will spend hours on just trying to get one action done. You will even go to YouTube and watch people fail over and over on the same mission you're on and commenting how frustrating it is or how they'll have to do a lot of editing to take out the 2 hours of attempts to do this one action that is blocking them from enjoying the rest of the game.

I've never uninstalled a game so quickly as this one. I honestly feel ripped off.

The game itself has great graphics for computers THAT CAN HANDLE IT. My advice for the following reviews, if you notice they're complaining about choppy graphics, static shadows, frame rate drops, ect. ignore them. They're frustrated their PC can't handle it.

Three things: Realism, Storyline, and Gameplay. Realism: Of course the game isn't realistic, it's a game what do you expect.

Three things: Realism, Storyline, and Gameplay.

Realism: Of course the game isn't realistic, it's a game what do you expect. Of course I'm speaking of the whole hacking thing.

Storyline: The storyline is extremely conventional. Dead family member causes hero to seek revenge and ultimately the bad guys use his family against him by kidnapping his sister so he has to spend over half the game doing jobs for them until he can save her. Pretty much bland characters, bland storyline, blandy bland bland.

Gameplay: Forgive me as I split this into subsections.

Driving - This took time to get used to. I couldn't get it at first but this game was originally designed to be a racing game so it was given much more realistic, difficult handling. It took a while but I learned just how to pull drifts and make those turns without plowing into the bus stop.

AI - The AI was meh. It's not OMG TERRIBUL but it's not exactly great either. Of course there are some bugs to work out but it's within playable parameters.

Online - Well you'd thing Ubisoft would learn that when you release a hyped up game you're gunna get a lot of online traffic. Needless to say uPlay servers are down...

Hacking - I like it. I don't understand why people are pissed at the whole "one button to hack". What would you have done?

TL;DR, game play kept me busy for a couple days but didn't leave me wanting more. Storyline was incredibly boring and original. Characters were very 2D. Online is currently down. Maybe if Online resurfaced and I can finally play it my score might've increased.

I appreciated the unix nods in the intro and stuff like that but ultimately the game has absolutely nothing to do with network security or "hacking". It may as well be magic.

The story is garbage, complete and utter trite.

The only redeeming feature of this game is the engines ability. There seems to be amazing A.I in the game, and bullet/particle/physics effects are all very cool. They slapped a very ****ty game onto a very cool engine by the looks of it.

The voice acting is some of the worst I've come across as well, some of the voice actors can't pronounce common words correct. The dialog is downright painful in some cut-scenes.
You can find plenty of write ups as to how boring the storyline and gameplay is so I won't go into detail about this.

    Things I don't like about Watch_Dogs:

    - Armoured enemies are lame way to make the game harder. - You can't shoot at helicopters because they are mostly above you while chase is on. - Snipers (Also chopper, which is a bi*ch) aim is ALWAYS locked at Aiden's head. Which is just way too unrealistic. - There's no crouch, just cover. - Enemies often know your exact position right away. -

The answer to this is simply that everyone is super "butthurt" about the "downgrade" in graphics compared to E3 2012. I've seen people claiming that it looks like Saints Row 2 on high, are you **** kidding me? WD on max settings is easily one of the greatest looking games of all time, from the lighting, textures, rain, smoke and wind, to the gorgeous explosions and the astounding character models, this game is absolutely gorgeous, it's still pretty damn good looking even on low settings as well. When hacking cameras I often thought I was looking at real life, especially when spying on the character Iraq, he looks like a real person. Now that I've addressed the elephant in the review, let's get to the actual game.

The campaign is not the longest, but it's considerably longer than most games nowadays. I beat the game in 45 hours of gameplay on my first playthrough, and a lot of that was side stuff and free roam, I'd say the campaign by itself is between 17-23 hours or so, give or take.

Gameplay is fun as **** gunplay is fluid, animations are excellent, stealth is incredible, better than Assassin's Creed's by far. Hacking is definitely the highlight of the gameplay, hacking security cameras to get a better view of the situation, setting off traps, controlling the city at the tap of a screen, it makes you feel powerful and successfully executing a plan using hacking is extremely rewarding. Driving, in my opinion, really grew on me. It's different from most games and cars can be difficult to control, but once I got used to it I found that I was driving better than I was in GTA games. To top gameplay off, there is a difficulty mode called realistic mode, play on this, seriously. Enemies die in 1-4 shots without armor, you die in about 3-5 shots, it makes gameplay really tense and definitely rewards careful planning and stealth, and discourages balls to the wall shootouts, because your face will get shot up. Speaking of shootouts, I don't know specifically, maybe the animations, the fluid combat controls, parkour, just make it so fun to be in a shootout. Hacking isn't as complex as it could be, but would you really want anything more complicated? The way hacking is makes it very accessible and fun to use, anything more complicate and people would be whining about how it's too complicated. One complaint about realistic mode however is that armor is OP. You'll get hitmarkers with a Barrett if they're wearing bullet-proof vests. Armor is unrealistic in this game and realistic mode will become frustrating and a bit cheap later in the game, but that just made it more fun for me.

The story may become confusing at times, and there are many anti-climactic moments, such as taking down couple of antagonists, some of them just end in an in game shootout, not very cinematic and a bit disappointing on that part, but there is one antagonist death that is just so **** cool and outside the box, I'll let you discover that if you get the game. Overall the story is good, combine the ridiculously good character models and graphics with the absolutely amazing voice actors and you get some very touching and emotional moments. Although, Aiden is by far the weakest character in the game, while his voice actor sounds nice, gravelly voice and all, execution of some lines lack emotion sometimes, kind of comparable to male Commander Shepard, Mark Meer, in Mass Effect, although nowhere near as bad. Aiden definitely doesn't lack the depth though, he has a great backstory and history. The supporting cast is really where they shine. From the French accent stereotypical young punk hacker girl with a partially shaved head Clara Lille, the charming, often hysterical and great guy Jordi and even your sister Nicole to the interesting and cold Iraq, the Deadmau5 wannabe Defalt and the manipulative monster "Lucky" Quinn, there is no shortage of lovable and incredible supporting characters and antagonists.

In the open world there is a LOT to do, preventing crimes, criminal convoys, gang hideouts, fixer contracts, they add a lot of depth and variety to the game, and definitely do not get old quickly. Even after 50+ hours of gameplay I am still giddy when I get a gang hideout alert, those are my favorite. The game has a reputation system that can quickly change depending on your actions. You will either be a revered vigilante or a feared monster in the public's eyes, and this affects gameplay. If you're on the latter side of that spectrum you may walk into a store to find you're in a news broadcast on the TV in the back, making it difficult to complete a nice and legal purchase.

Over the past few years, I've learned not to trust user reviews anymore. From the less than 1 rating of Mass Effect to the whiny **** bashing this game, user reviews aren't to be trusted anymore, read the reviews of the people who are PAID to review games, please.

The worst part for me is the AI, they're really dumb, even though Disrupt's AI is based on Dunia. I even dare to say that Far Cry 3's psychotic and insane pirates are far smarter than any enemies in Watch Dogs. And now to the game itself.

    1. Graphics is nowhere close to what we saw on trailers shown to us at gaming events around the world. Not only is it just medicore, but the game doesn't even try to hide that most of the stuff is just copy paste - watch some gameplay videos and focus on random NPC animations. Clone sense tingling!

    2. Main story is just boring and predictable.

    3. Side missions are just a laugh - after 5-10 of them you will most probably skip this aspect of the game.

    4. Earning money is a laugh.

    5. Game physics is a misunderstanding if you realize that we're in 2014, not in 2004. Cars drive like a brick falling of from a bridge, vehicle damage is almost irrelevant, everything seems to be glued to the ground...

    6. Multiplayer? Go play whatever you're playing online these days as the lags, loss of connection and downtimes will just piss you off.

Since it' s a Ubisoft game and they are well known for making promises that are never 100% fulfiled, I wasn't expecting all of the stuff that they were showing off. But the end product looks like an early alpha of what we were being shown so far. 3/10 from me, and that's only for the fact that the story has some nice support characters although even they are utilized in a predictable and unsatisfying way.

P.S. This game runs (as always) via Uplay so expect a bumpy road when trying to actually launch the product. Server downs, missing files, 3+ file repairs in a row, you name it. So that doesn't help the overall impression at all.

Story is awesome! Still there is a bunch of true misses like really bad car-phisics and city-scape made of concrete and paper)) Srsly, all you can brake is as fragile as paper)) But! Stealth and shooting mechancs are OK, no more no less. Chases and car-stealth are realy something new to me. And there's one thing that makes them all shine with new colors.. it's HACKING!

    Cons:
There draw distance is way to short.
The driving mechanics of the cars are bad because the acceleration is way to fast and the steering is not responsive enough.
The PC-version is not well optimized.

Yesterday i completed this game and I can say that it's the best story i have ever played. This game has some problems but people that give it bad note only shows how stupid they are. This game should have solid 8/10 (I gave 10 because there are to much idiots there that gave 0 because... i don't know what)

    + smart and flanking npc
    + spider tank!!!
    + a lot of cars ( a lot of "budget" cars! )
    + enough weapons
+ amazing multi-player free roam (but they should at least add poker there)

    - cannot modify weapons (scope, magazine, silencer, laser etc )
    - cannot do some simple stupid things like sit on bench this could be event greater durning hacking other player (like in assasin's creed but without stupid gray colors...)
    - only one item at normal shops -> for eg you can only buy beer ( alcohol should negatively influence the "focus" not add it...) beer should take one point of focus for some time, vodka should take 5 )
    - has typical sandbox errors (big car spawned blended with fence and disappeared (when i did enter)

For those which want "radio" from gta 5 you have application for music where you can remove all songs from list and add only those which you want (it is organized in music types so you can add all pop or soul whatever you want)

If you don't want to play - it's your problem, but don't give not < 5 because this game does not deserve it!

Played it and completed the story on a PS4. This game was hyped up a lot. The ads and demonstrations prior to launch didn't reflect the tone of the game very well. I couldn't help but think the story was trying to strike the same chord as The Last of Us did, but it didn't at all. The characters were all pretty hate-able, especially Aiden Pearce, the main character. He's completely insane and doesn't understand when to stop. There is hardly any context to the characters' lives before the death of Lena.

The gameplay felt like a mixture of GTA and Assassin's Creed (which sounds really damn cool), but the execution was pretty poor. It has all the bells and whistles of GTA, but you're forced to sneak around and take enemies out one by one. Hacking isn't very difficult and it get's really repetitive after the first few times.

The best part of the game are the mini-games. There are at least 6 fully fleshed out mini-games (not including poker) that are pretty fun. I played Spider Tank and NVZN for at least an hour each.

Multiplayer is practically non-existent. It's not even worth it to try and explain it because it should have just been left out completely. They probably could have made a better game if they had.

The game does look really nice though. Although there were some glitches and pop-ins here and there, it showed off the PS4's capability well. The character models looked excellent, and the cars look believable. The reflections on the buildings is bad though; the game looks exceptionally better when it's night time (in-game) or when it's raining. Some of the explosions and things you can do are awesome though. Getting away from the cops by raising a bridge and ramping over it is surprisingly satisfying. The black-outs are really cool, especially at night.

Although it looks nice, it feels limited, and I don't really want to play it now that I've completed the main story. It's forgettable, but I enjoyed causing grandiose explosions and stopping cops with barriers that pop out of the street. Not a next-gen game by any means.

Once i got the online to work the game really started turning up. It all seemed so real, I would be playing the game like normal and all of a sudden Im being hacked. There is a person in my game and they have been tailing me. They are trying to still info from me and i didn't know it until they started hacking. I was just about to do a mission. This game is amazing and if they add co-op missions to the free roam it will be one of the greatest this year. All the negative reviews will either have no merit or purely be based on how they couldn't get the game to work. In that regard thats not a review of the game it self but on either their hardware or Ubisoft horrible servers and bad optimization. Games great and you may have to fiddle the settings i give it a 10/10 (9.5/10) truly but gotta counter the trolls.

to the game it self: it tells the story abaut aidan apart from the mainquest and describes his person more passive, which has to be mentioned because even the magazines don't get that.
the missions are, ...well let's say not linear, but remind of crysis 2: they feel open but aren't.
city itself feels empty and sidemissions are not as interesting as we were shown.
the graphics are a bit ridiculous if we think of the specs. what concerns me the most is the bad port as expected. i really have to switch my graphic card from automatic to highspeed manually cause the program ignores that...this really gave me a shock on my first lunch when i saw the fps.
i bought a key through the internt (~36€). this is a fair price i think, but i wouldn't buy it for a higher one.

WTF: Random Character Profiler “HIV Postive, Occupation: Blood Donor”

Watch Dogs being one of the most (if not the most) hyped games of 2014 so far, we have to wonder if it lives up to the hype train behind it, so hop on and lets find out! Chu-chu!
You play as a character named Aiden Pearce, a highly skilled criminal hacker in a futuristic day Chigaco which is hyper-connected to a centralized system called CtOS. After his niece is killed in an attempt to shut Aiden Pearce down for good, Aiden seeks to bring his own form of justice to the ones who caused it making him a vigilante.
From the start of the game you are thrown into a short (and I mean short) tutorial mission, afterwords being given a huge city to run around and explore. You can tell Ubisoft put lots of effort into this games environment because it feels alive. From citizens taking on random actions such as forgetting coffee on the roof of their car which they go back to retrieve or a police chase soaring past you while you're using your phone to manipulate the world in your favour. This leads to many interesting game mechanics, the obvious one being a highly skilled hacker with the entire city at your fingertips.

Hacking traffic lights to cause major crashes, stopping and starting trains, and blacking out the city with your smart-phone to help escape or pursue left me feeling extremely powerful. Who thought such a tiny concept could leave such a huge impact to both the player and the in-game world. Now, an in-game progression wheel does limit your hacking abilities until you can level up to gain skill points which can then be allocated into a skill tree but a really neat thing that Ubisoft did is that once you beat a couple of missions in the game, you unlock ALL the skills. This means it doesn't require you to become a certain level or beat a certain side task. All you need are the appropriate skill points and you can choose what your strengths are. The system isn't extremely in depth but you can tell effort was put in to try and balance it.
Another system that was brought into Watch Dogs open-world game was a morality system. Stopping petty crimes and saving peoples lives grants you vigilante status, meaning citizens will often come to you and take pictures. While killing citizens and causing chaos leaves you to be a villain, causing citizens to be fearful and more likely to call the police on you.

This game is definitely huge, Ubisoft was right about that. The sad thing is, the game looks heavily downgraded from their E3 demos which seems to follow their recent bait and switch advertising techniques. Along with a PC port that causes fps lag even on high end computers and a bunch of bugs/crashed even after first day patches really makes it hard to recommend the PC version. I haven't played the console versions of the game and after having my save file become corrupted due to a known game breaking bug, I don't think I want to go out and purchase a console copy, no matter the hours of entertainment the game gave me.

One thing I never got to try was the unique multiplayer, pitting hackers versus hackers sounds amazing. Definitely something I might watch online but playing through the game again to get my save back isn't appealing enough.

I would rate Watch Dogs for the PC a 7/10, boosting it up to an 8 if the bugs/optimization are fixed.

Disclosures: This game was obtained via publisher and reviewed on the PC. Approximately 6 hours of play was devoted to single-player modes and 0 hours of play to multiplayer modes.

Parents: According to the ESRB, this game contains: Blood, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol. There's no question that this game is absolutely intended for adults and no children should play or watch. Some scenes reference sexual and violent manners, even walking down the street with the profiler on can reveals possible offensive material. I still would consider the GTA series to be far worse.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing: Subtitles are available for all of the dialogue—and there's a lot. Multiple languages are supported as well. I have not personally tested them however so things may very from language to language.

The best comparison I would give this game is to Assassins Creed 1, this game is solid w/ a lot of potential, and its sequel will make the most of that potential and be phenomenal, but the original will just remain solid.

    Positives:
    - Hacking is fresh and fun
    - Upgrade system is well done
    - A lot of fun extra's to do (Such as Digital Trips)
    - Solid Voice Acting
    - A city which feels 'alive'
    - Enjoyable Multiplayer
    - Good music system
    - Generally interesting story
    - Fantastic Gunplay

    Mediocre Gameplay Elements:
    - The graphics are decent (rarely detract from the experience), but could be a LOT better
    - Sometimes generic missions
    - Limited Player Customization

    Negatives:
    - Stiff Driving
    - Abysmal Uplay Multiplayer Servers
    - No Car Customization
    - Occasionally poor AI

Additional Thoughts: I have enjoyed my time so far with watch dogs, I have put in about 20 hours, it does start a little slowly, but it picks up later on and the story-line gets fairly interesting.

    Overall: 8.5
A great start to an awesome new franchise, but the potential wasted is unfortunate. Most likely the sequel will be immensely better.

How to make an awful game:
    -Add bad DRM (UPlay)
-Don't optimize it at all (I can't even play this game properly)
    -Bad voice acting
    -Awful AI
-Trains can stop on a dime
-Make the key gimmick to the came completely unnecessary (I could do all of the missions more successfully by not hacking)
    -Physics? What are physics?

Alright, for starters, watch dogs is A game manly based on hacking, which it performs smoothly in. The story is developed enough to make me feel like I'm with Aiden Pierce. Then we come to the driving. The driving is mediocre and leaves much to be desire. This sucks because 60% of the game you're in a car so illlll.........
In the end Watch dogs has a great story and bad mechanic yet

Watch Dogs suffers from many flaws, the biggest of which is that it doesn't know what type of game it wants to be. It's story and characters are decently developed and interesting, but their dark and serious emotional tone is the complete opposite of the ridiculous and highly unrealistic game play. The controls are clunky and clumsy, the driving makes GTA look like Grand Turismo and there doesn't appear to be any consequences or continuity.

Getting killed ends with re spawning with all your guns and money right where you wanted to be anyway. A 40mm grenade will completely take out a car, unless its driven by a rival player then it does next to nothing.

The multi-player, when working, is more annoying than anything. When you want to play you can only be the aggressor, when you don't want to play you are always the victim with no way to shut it off other than to stop the game and put Uplay in offline mode. You may be about to hack a ctOS point when another player invades your game and you can no longer interact with anything except the new player.

The hacking is cool from an information perspective, but it gets old fast. You only ever use 1 button for all things, and everything is the same level of difficulty.

The difficulty makes no sense, instead of making the AI smart enough to understand what your doing the game just gives your attackers the answers. A helicopter spotlight will follow your movements with pinpoint accuracy even if it cant see you. When you surface after hiding cops will just report your location out of nowhere.

In short, this is your standard Ubisoft / EA game. They spent so much time on the graphics and story that they forgot that people actually PLAY games, rather than just watch them. Games like this make you wonder if the developers of the various aspects have ever actually met each other.

Over All: Decent story, good graphics, **** controls, no consequences, annoying multi-player & doesn't know what type of game it wants to be.

I've read a fair few of the negative reviews, and while there are a couple points I agree on, and which are the reason for not giving it a 10, all in all I think the PC players were expecting a little more than what is realistic. So here goes:

Story: 8/10. Like most open world games, the story suffers because when you have an intense story, you can't help but break immersion to go play poker or treasure hunting. If you were to stick to the story I think it's good, but not fantastic.

Music: 4/10. This is the bad part. The soundtrack is so lackluster that I usually turn the radio off the moment I get in the car. The ambient sounds of the city are more interesting than the music choices.

Map: 10/10. Easy to get around while still feeling like a real city. Haven't run into any places yet where I felt stranded or lost.

Driving: 7/10. Not as bad as people make it out to be. If anything it feels a little more realistic than most games. That may not be something that many people want. GTA V felt like the cars were on rails. This game punishes you for poor driving. Cornering in particular.

Combat: 9/10. Being as I use the environment as much as I can, which I think is the spirit of the game, I rely on firearms as little as possible. Generally I only break out the big guns if I make a mistake and have to shoot my way out. Otherwise I only use my silenced pistol and baton. Guns are not ridiculously accurate. If you get angry that you can't make a perfect headshot with a pistol from 100 yds every time, this isn't the game for you. Likewise if you want to group 15 rds fired on auto into a 3 inch circle at 100 yds. Isn't going to happen.

Mini games. 10/10. Great games in and of themselves, in my opinion. Spider Tank is gleeful wanton destruction. The shell game will actually challenge your attention. Took a couple failures before I even realized the guy quickly swaps the ball into other cups, just like the real dudes on the street. Poker moves a bit slow for the sake of realism, but it's fairly solid. The drinking game is pretty fun. I've spent the most time on the chess challenges. Most of the games you find set of puzzles to solve with pre-arranged boards. Like capture 8 pawns in 8 moves with a single queen, or survive 6 moves without being check-mated.

Graphics: 9/10. Here's the big one. So many reviews I've read complain about being mislead about the graphics. I completely disagree. Ubisoft has been very upfront with the huge video card requirements you will need to run this at max settings. My rig can run just under max, and the game is beautiful. Dynamic shadows, consistent wind effects, damn near photo-realistic water. I can only assume the people complaining are running at low settings.

This so-called open world is a cage. Why is this hobo protagonist wearing this unbearable ugly coat? Driving is a nuisance, FPS an ordeal, hacking a bad joke, the omnipresent flooding notifications distracting, the missions I've passed boring, storyline predictable, gaming freedom not existing. This "game" will be buried in my steam library.
It will be my last time buying a game at release - hopefully.
GTA SA is still unbeaten - even compared to GTA V - and will be my all-time favourite.
Eventually the watch dogs are the naive customers of Ubisoft. Is this the profound message of this game?

They seem to have done a very good job at making the game use multiple cores, there are 5-7 cores on ~40-80% load, so yeah it does use a lot of computing power but they managed to use the cpu effectively!
Game play it self is very interesting, played it 16 hrs now, and didn't really find a need to follow the many story since there is a lot of other stuff to in the World, how it should be in an open world game!
About the handling, well it is different how you control a lot of stuff like menus, but once you figured it out it is very intuitive and easy to use! It is a lot easier, than I thought before playing the game, to to choose the target you wanted for the hack while you are driving
tldr; Game is great, ppl who complain about performance should choose appropriate settings. Controls are different but easy to get used to.

The lightning and the weather make you feel like you actually were in the living city of Chicago. Often I just like to forget that its a game and start walking aimlessly around the streets.

Now, the gameplay. Hacking is a truly original idea for a game this scale. Even though it might not feel that realistic, it does give the "I am GOD" -feeling. Yet it maintains the challenge and vulnearibility, especially in certain play styles. Sneaking in the game works brilliantly, and head-to-head combat is OK too. The AI is a bit too predictable while on foot, following certain paths systematically, but when it gets behind the wheel, you're in trouble. It can intelligently predict your movements and block your path. The driving mechanics left me a bit dissatisfied, as I was looking for something more realistic than an arcade.

It's a shame the story is so short as it actually is the only thing not repetitive in the game. But if you balance the story play and the sidequests its shortness should be no problem. There are only a few types of sidequests, aside from some random encouters.
The random encouters are what gives the game its life. You can never know when a fellow pedestrian is going to get shot, and thus you must always be aware of your surroundings. There are also random crimes, but they are actually not so random, and often end up the criminal noticing you before the crime even has taken place, thus ending the encouter short. The game also has many sorts of cool details, such as when you shoot an enemy in the knee it neutralizes him instead of killing him. Roleplayers will love this game.

Also to mention, in some missions and sidequests, using heavy weaponry is almost an obligation. Iit crumbles the feeling of sneaky rogue-like hacking vigilante. I prefer to use a silenced pistol whenever it is possible to maintain this theme.

In conclusion, it is a brilliant-looking game (9,5) and the hacking is cool (8,0) as is the story (8,0) but the game crashes on too many arcade-like attributes. 8/10

Worst pre-order ive ever spent money on i was truly disappointed, i could not believe that this much hype and 4 or 5 years of development plus 8 months delay would end up in this unpolished, unfinished and sub-par game. But i want to be fair so it gets 4/10 it pissed me off more then i enjoyed it.

I downloaded the game 1 week before it releases, I was amazed, "I have this awesome game! If i like it i will buy it".

Luckly I didn't buy it because this is a real worst game.

The AI is really stupid, lineal gameplay, and very low fps with a high pc spect.

    So, don't buy.

Features a broken moral system to be a menace or a vigilante. Yet, the player is always a menace because Ubisoft wanted it to be that way. Hacking is automatic and RANDOM. You hack a target and get a random result - the game will automatically rob a NPC of their money - no option to choose to rob them or, perhaps, give them money. Shallow gameplay - other than hacking, the game has nothing new - it's like a grinning turkey that cost £45.00 just to press a key and auto-hack a target to get their money, whether you want their money or not. You don't buy houses/hideouts - the game auto-magically creates them for you across the map. The game gives you the option to make money - but you have so little to spend the money on. Shallow, shallow, shallow game. I don't hate the game - I just truthfully believe that it fails to deliver anything other than the 'shallow' hacking element - take that away and the game is a fail. Without the 'shallow' hacking element, this game would be DOA. Other than that, I had no problems running the game - minor log-in problems. Just astonished at the lack of immersion - yeh, you can play poker, solve chess puzzles, come across a talking moose head - but just check the things to do in other games compared to what you can do in this game. I know to avoid a Watch Dogs 2 until it goes on sale. Expand

I hope this game really hurts Ubisoft. Publishers need to learn that devs run the release of a game, not the marketing department. They started marketing a year early and released it at least 6 months too early. this was a marketing department that **** this game up.

When will big publishers learn, when the public drops 60$ for a AAA game it had better work on LAUNCH DAY! This whole "ship it now , patch it later" mentality is only acceptable because of morons who pre-order.

Watch_Dogs might not have the next gen graphics all pc gamers were waiting for, but it has everything else next gen. While GTA5 is great, but its an iterative improvement on previous games. here you have something fresh and new and FUN. Give it a try and you won't regret it!

For those not sure if they can run the game, I play it on Ultra with textures on high on a gtx 760 with the latest driver update from 2-3 days ago and it runs smooth as butter. Some say it is very taxing on HDD so install on SSD and you're good to go. (if you have a 200$+ graphic card and no ssd, you are not serious about gaming and deserve low performance)

The bullshots kinda ticked me off, the game looked amazing, then once you actually play the game it definitely looks last-gen and not even impressive last-gen... average. I have the settings maxed out, down sampled from 1440p and tested all the AA methods and it is blurry. Also something is definitely wrong with the ultra textures they create stuttering even on my Titan Black, 840 Pro SSDs, 16gb of Ram and 4770k (@4.5ghz) processor. Had to turn them down to High to remove the stuttering.

The game is great soo far, the city is full of life's and the hacking is great.
The story so far is great you play as Aiden pierce who is out for revenge because of his niece dieing and I won't go any further with that. At first on pc I found the controls wired and confusing. But now it feels second to none on how this game plays out.

The npcs all have a story behind them. You can learn about their age, job,how much money they earn and any recent events they were in which is fantastic. It changes for everyone in game as well, during co op we ID the same person and there was two different profiles which is unique.

The hacking is seamless compared to what some people may say as long as you have the battery you can hack it instant and there is quite a few things to hack which all change up the pace of the game during a chase with the cops such as hacking the traffic lights to make all the cars and such crash is a great sight.

The gunplay is limited to a few rifles, pistols, snipers and such but it's fine as most of the missions can be played stealthy that's right in killing involved and because of this you can be seen as a good guy or a bad guy.

Now the Mp is also fun. I've only played 5 of the modes but 1v1 hacking is just soo dam addictive and co op is great fun as well

Will write the rest of it the more I play and when I think I'm done but on a side not co op is disappointing because of the lack of things to do in co op apart from drive together, heck you can not even hack and tail your own friends on your list

The pros and cons will also come later so stay tuned

    TERRIBLE

The story isn't bad. That's the ONLY reason I gave it as high of a score as I did.
Boring city, terrible driving, terrible graphics, NPC's are on par with GTA3, terrible code causing terrible graphics to slow down a machine that can handle much better. The supposed freedom that comes with these style of games is severely lacking.

Now with watch Dogs. The highest the game will allow the card to run is medium textures. This makes the game look like Gta vice city on my Galaxy Note phone. This is a horribly bad running game. Then after playing about 10 minutes. It starts freezing every 5 seconds. This causes frame rates to drop to 10 or so requiring me to restart the game.

Far as the game play. I could not use a mouse and keyboard. It almost forces the use of a controller. The game play seems okay. I would have preferred a less arcade driving system but I guess they wanted cars to feel like that so okay then. The gunplay seems good. I like the way they control. Good aiming and recoil feel for a 3rd person game. The little I played seemed okay. I am guessing it is nowhere close to the scope, quality and feel of GTA 5 but I guess this is the closest we have. This score is solely based on the horrible visual quality and stutter problems the game has.

Decent take on an open world though slightly disappointing due to zero optimization done by Ubisoft. The game doesn't look good at all compared to recent high profile releases and that's even with decent specs. Story is unoriginal and drags on and on and game tends to get quite repetitive. Not an awful game but not what we'd been expecting.

This is, truly, the end of PC gaming as we know it.

And, it's not only various developers and publishers fault. It's the typical user's fault too. User's which were raised using consoles and now they demand the same level of compatibility and ease when using their high-end PC systems. (systems often not configured correctly) A lot of people bought it without knowing about 64bit

And, it's not only various developers and publishers fault. It's the typical user's fault too. User's which were raised using consoles and now they demand the same level of compatibility and ease when using their high-end PC systems. (systems often not configured correctly)

A lot of people bought it without knowing about 64bit requirement, not knowing that the ultra textures are optimized to work in 4k resolutions.(not MUCH difference between high and ultra on 1080p monitor)
Geforce tweaking guide (which some people show to each other as proof that nvidia knew of the supposed bad optimization) is nothing more than guidelines for making the game look prettier.

I even saw some youtube videos showing users shooting every npc on the street, and saying to the listeners: "I can't find any fun in this game.i'm looking for some fun, but i cant find any! *Boom*Boom* Maybe five more minutes and something fun will come out of it!"

The game is solid, the plot is a little cheesy, but what do you expect in this day and age?
(times with best selling AAA action games without any plot at all)
The graphics are very nice, LOD's are beautiful, light reflections are gorgeous, i didnt saw ONE ugly texture (on high). Water rendering is quite pretty.
That said, there is something wrong with dynamic shadows, there ARE shadows from small light sources
but the dynamic shade for the city is somewhat lacking, (eg The shadows are not moving dynamically with the sun, but rather have stages) and there are no shadows cast when walking through the front of a car with lights on. (GTA IV had them)
Finally, the game adds some nice new options and ideas to your classic city GTA-ish experience.
The hacking really finds its place in the sandbox universe, from slowly setting-up the traps using the cameras, to dynamically influencing the infrastructure in high speed chase.

The only thing that scared me off is this dubstep-ish feel to mini games ("digital experiences"),
bit like in the last Saints Row game. It looks like the game was in production for a long time, and they
added (after the shocking success of Saits Row IV) some teenage arcade touches (breaks the realism
of the game a bit, but nothing excessively brain-dead)

I, personally, can't imagine an objective point of view from witch i would give this game anyting less than 5/10. Anything less than 5(maybe 4) is trolling or frustartion from first-week technical problems, or AMD owners with little patience for driver fixes.
I remember the same problem few years ago with EA's The Saboteur (sandbox city simulation too), which hated ATI cards, and was unplayable (i owned one at the time), but the users Metacritic score is 8.0 !!!

There is something wrong with common PC user. If you expect plug and play - type of games, stick to the consoles, if you don't have the energy needed to make PC games look their best (by fiddling with driver options, using beta drivers, comparing different graphic levels, using the web to learn how to utilize the power of your hyper-powerfull setups) why bother buying expensive PC's?

I would give it 10, if not for the publisher problems (uplay is horrible), too much marketing, and giving all these moronic promises about 60fps and next-next-gen graphics.

The game runs on High textures, Ultra quality all options switched on - all besides shadows (high),
TXAA x4. My setup is i5-2400, geforce GTX 660, 8gb Ram. No SSD. Around 30 FPS, maybe less, the trade-off is worth it, TXAA 4x really takes the textures to the next level (even distant ones).

If you want to play with Ultra textures, and you have similar PC to mine, buy SSD drive. It takes the hiccups away even with 2GB vram.

I found only one irritating bug - the textures and the shader sometimes break, and surfaces become transparent (you can see things behind the textures). But changing the resolution reloads the shader, and everything comes back to normal.

GTA games has better and more realistic features in terms of game physics but this game delivers the real next-gen evolution of flat physics which is what we have been waiting for all these years! Also I musn't forget to mention how inconsistent the car physics is compared to the flawless train physics.
The vehicle physics though is what makes this game unplayable and most of the crashes could have been much better made, even GTA IV which is a current gen game have much more realism to crashes than this game so this game made me disappointed and I cant tolerate those physics at all so I do not recommend this game. Horrible game physics 0/10 but if the game had been much more realistic in that aspect I would gladly recommend this game and even give it a perfect score but this was close to being the best and most realistic game that I never had played. Unfortunately this game did not live up to it's hype, (game development years 2009-2014).

I don't care about graphics, and gameplay feels enough fun to f*ck around for a couple of hours a day.

The problem is, it makes me feel a little old and sad. Every modern game does, but this one does it the wrong way.

It's like GTA but less aggressive, and Saints Row but less fun. And the technical problems make the overall mediocrity of this title unforgiving. It may be a nicer experience on next-gen consoles, but stay away on PC.

Short review of the game, but more of a review of the bad reviewers. The game is really good. (Not great but solidly good) as far as the art, graphics, premise, story. As far as the low scores for this game. It doesn't warrant it. Trust me, I loath DRM but uplay is no more in the way than Steam or Origin is and its where the industry is at, so just deal with it. If you read between the lines here most of these low score reviewers are just upset that this game is going to require a patch or two before its fully baked. Can you name any game out in the last 5 years that didn't need patching? I can't either. Buy the game.

The open world is a little lacking but is better by bounds than any of the Mafia games or LA Noire. I found the driving rough at first but that was because I was used to gta v's driving and once I practiced a little with the drifting I actually turned out to be really fun. It's challenging and more realistic as it should be. I would ultimately give the game a rating of around 8.5 if I could as a user review but I decided to give it a 9 since most of the user reviews are people who are giving a 0-3 because it's not the 9.9 game they expected which is just unfair. Cardboard city and npc's(trying to look alive but it's fake)!

Hacking in WD isn’t really hacking! More like 80's movie about hacking, witch is just a joke to what hacking really is!

Gameplay has been good, i have played 7 hours and barely touched the main story as i have jumped straight into the side missions which have interested me greatly. This is especially with the intrusion missions (Which let you see into peoples lives) and the code missions.

So far, i am very happy with the outcome of the game. I just wish to see those few reviews which moan about Uplay servers and down vote the game to take that to Uplay themselves rather than hitting it at the game.

Now onto the game putting aside the fact that it runs like trash on amd cards, the game is quite literally a gta clone, the hacking aspects are supposedly the highlights of the game but there's not really anything there. You can scan for profiles blow up/hack things but the game itself feels like a modded version of gta. The story is mediocore typical guy's family member dies, hunts down the culprits.

What annoys me the most is that the game's world has nothing that makes it attractive, there's no interaction with others in the world outside of robbing their banks and a basic mechanic of stopping crimes before they start which quite literally is go to the area find the guy wait till a bar glows red then chase after him.

The hype is honestly not worth it, it's just an average game with a mediocre story and honestly from the hours I've played I'd rather just play gta 4 again.

Watch_Dogs is an interesting, as well as enjoyable take on the open world genre. There is never a loss as to what to do; there are so many side quests and online hacker vs hacker matches to compete in, it feels almost limitless. Stealth and hacking are done spectacularly in this game. Why anyone would want to do an arbitrary mini-game any time you want to hack something is beyond me. One button is fine. There is no problem with the GAME itself if played the way it was meant to be played.

The problem lies with the players. If you play this game on the lowest difficulty, with the lowest intelligence possible, it becomes nothing better than your average run and gun slugfest. The cars are not meant to feel like an arcade game; of course if you drive recklessly, you will not be able to control the car. If you expect an open world game to have the textures of Crysis 3 and not easily go over the vram limit of your card, you're foolish. The demands I'm reading from so many reviewers just do not make any sense.

The only realistic complaints are about drivers not being optimized enough for video cards, and server issues with Uplay. Uplay is a poorly implemented excuse for a marketplace when compared to Steam or even Origin. However, let us all remember that even the mighty steam servers are sluggish when summer sales and the like come around. Uplay's servers will balance out when they aren't being slammed by millions of players.

You think the storyline is cliche? Sure. Explain yourself. The characters aren't developed enough? Perhaps. Explain yourself. However, so many complaints i'm reading are so asinine and vague, how can anyone possibly take these user reviews seriously? Oh, you couldn't even start up the game? How do you have the right to review the game? You never played it. That is a server or driver side problem, not a reflection of the game itself.

Bottom line, the game is great. Perfect? Of course not.
Play the game on the realistic setting, take it slow, and soak the good parts in. Stop whining about every detail that doesn't fit into your scope of what you felt entitled to.

The cars slip and slid around like that the ice part in Zelda: ocarina of time, - Don't turn enough and the car doesn't turn, turn too much and its slips'n'slids and fish tails around like crazy, hitting every, lamp post, car, fence, wall, pedestrian and building, which makes those - Chase guy mission frustrating, or tail that guy and invade the goons are just plan unenjoyable. And there are loads of these, the main campaign is mostly tail this guy, chase those guys oh and the terrible sneak into the build or sneak out without been seen, and if they catch you it's right back to the beginning again.

It take all the worst and annoying elements from other open world games, the parts that are just filling to add more packing to the game, Watch_Dogs is that, filler.

Well you're not getting that. GTA 4 level graphics, and TES 4 Oblivion level NPCs. The city looks alive, but only as long as you don't exist in it. The moment you interact with anything, all the immersion vanishes.

Did you want inventive new multiplayer gameplay?
Wait in queue for matchmaking to be forced to attack a random opponent which will most likely win by committing suicide. The Mobile app that claims to be another dimension of gaming? Connection failed.
When the servers actually work, you'll still get that, this time because your opponent can simply quit the game to make you lose.

The only thing that has any potential are the digital trips. They should have just made those standalone for $5 each, it would be a better deal.

Also, don't forget about how Ubisoft screwed over a third of Europe by forcing them to play in russian. And the Day -1 Season Pass that costs 100% of the price of the game and contains nothing. They promise to add a lot of gameplay in future DLC, but hey, they also promised the game would be good.

Graphically, the game is stunning. Admittedly, my PC can only assure good framerates on medium to high settings, but I did pump them to ultra to check them out and it really is pretty breathtaking visually. My only complaint was the reflections in windows, but it wasn't what I'd consider immersion-breaking. One of those things you notice initially but it doesn't really bother you. I've heard stories that you need a little bit of tweaking to fix the framerate problems on certain high-end devices but it's nonetheless possible to achieve.

The gameplay is quite enjoyable. I hear complaints about driving compared to the GTA games, but the driving is very similar to GTA V in my experience, with the added perk that I've yet to see a car in Watch Dogs fly 40 feet into the air during a collision. Other complaints I heard were around the simplicity involved in hacking, but I find that preferable given that your focus with the hacking mechanic is the ends, not the means. I don't really care for the standard hacking minigames/quick time events to get what I want done. I'd rather just, you know. Make that power box explode at the right time. That seems to have been the intent behind the mechanics and it works well in that capacity. Hanging out across the street from a compound while all the machinery inside is going haywire like there's a deranged poltergeist makes for really fulfilling gameplay.

The world and NPCs seem great to me. Admittedly, Chicago is smaller than the expanses of some other games, but feels significantly more alive. Thanks to the profiling mechanic, each person has detail about them, conversations you can listen in on, to an extent, back story. If there's an accident or gun fire, people react very naturally, and it creates a strong sense of realism. As inconvenient as it was, it was great slamming into a car to see someone call the police. And further to see the police doing a realistically good job of tracking me down.

I considered dropping the score because of the UPlay shenanigans around launch, but there's been enough online launches to understand that it's probably an inevitability for an online launch (although this was still one of the smoother online launches in recent history). Also, that 3 days of inconvenience around such a system have no impact on the game itself after that period of time, and reviewing otherwise is akin to giving a store a negative review because you couldn't find what you wanted on Black Friday.

Bought based on recommendations from friends who bought it, would buy again.

On top of everything the game runs like absolute **** and it doesn't make any sense. The games graphics are lackluster at best. So for this game to run so **** bad is mind boggling. Even when you get the game to a manageable frame rate the FPS drops are so insane that it ruins your gameplay.

Nothing could have realistically lived up to the immense level of hype that Ubisoft stirred up for this game, and while I value strong narratives and envelope-pushing technological advancements, I place just as much importance in the ability to enjoy the gameplay that's being offered to me. Watch Dogs is one of the more exciting sandbox games of the last few years, and if this is to become Ubisoft's next big franchise, I'm excited to see where they take it.
