    Warcraft III: Reforged didn't receive the love it deserved.
    One year of silence after the announce in 2018 and no communication with the player base.
    Not only the game is unpolished and ridden with bugs, it also lacks many of the original multiplayer features that always distinguished WC3.
    It's an utterly disappointment.

    This sums it up - If you gave 5 passionate Warcraft community modders full access to code and tools for a month or so, they would of done a better job than this nearly billion dollar company did.     30 dollars for a 17 year old game, and these crooks couldn't even spend the week or two to update the 17 year old UI on the opening screen? let alone the UI in game. While the units look fresh and great up close, the limit graphics options leave the graphics fuzzy in the normal RTS view. At blizzcon I played the DEMO and the cutscenes were incredible, most of those have been cut. I would guess they did this to lessen the requirements on the systems, but with all the other missing stuff that was promised your guess is as good as mine. Its also concerning that key elements that were in the DEMO at blizzcon have been removed.

    I would like to say its a quick buck scheme, but i paid for this game 1 year and 3 months ago.. Yes they have had my money for 15 months nearly.    … Expand

    A downgraded version of the classic. You’ll get some new models in exchange for: confusing UI (with NO solo custom option, so forget testing your maps if not by running on WE), buggy gameplay, removal of the ranked ladder, unstable and makes your pc run so hot that you may even consider opening a new sauna in your town, and not to mention that they’ve killed classic and forced people whoA downgraded version of the classic.     How is even legal to advertise the culling cutscene saying that is the quality of the cutscenes we will get and none of that are in the game. They had the opportunity to revive the RTS genre and failed miserably

    They have promised so much. they have included like nothing new.
    The graphics havent improved by much. the destroyed the old game merging it with the new system so they is no going back from now. 16 years of mods and community work died with this release.

Classic players are now forced to download the roughly 30gb update and navigate through the subpar WC3 Reforged menu.     Warcraft 3 used to be a great game. But now... like all of Activision Blizzard products it is just a masterful piece of marketing work with zero art or gaming value. This game was developed by outsource company. There are a lot of bugs and bad optimization. Many promises that AB made about W3 reforged (like enhanced campaign and new interface) were lies.     This is not a Rerorged version its only a Warcraft III HD Version. Graphics, Matchmaking and Bugs have been included to the game thats all.

    Realy sad about this and now Blizzard blamming the fans for it...

    Hello. I’ve been playing Warcraft 3 since 2004. I see a lot of people complaining about new graphics looking bad, lack of content, unfulfilled promises, post-launch bugs/crashes. However, I do not care about new graphics, campaigns, cinematics or Reforged as a whole. I just want to keep playing the game I played my entire life, the game    Reforged is a forced downgrade for classic users

    Hello. I’ve been playing Warcraft 3 since 2004. I see a lot of people complaining about new graphics looking bad, lack of content, unfulfilled promises, post-launch bugs/crashes. However, I do not care about new graphics, campaigns, cinematics or Reforged as a whole. I just want to keep playing the game I played my entire life, the game that was already perfect for me.
    But that is no longer possible. With the latest update, the old classic client is gone, it forces you to download the new Reforged client and play it using classic graphics, which cuts a lot of features that existed in previous versions.

    Features that were available yesterday and have been cut 12 hours ago:

    Cross-region play (the custom game list is no longer global and you can’t play with players from other realms, meaning it’s much harder to find players and fill game lobbies)
    Custom campaigns
    Clans
    Player profiles
    Ladder (ranked matchmaking, stats, automated tournaments)
    Good, battle.net 1.0 chat system (you can no longer use commands such as /f l, /join; information on how many players are currently playing; list of communal channels; battle.net news section; overall the chat system lost its’ soul)
    Beautiful UI/menus (in reforged client the menus feel sluggish and less optimised; the chat box overlaps the menus, atmospheric 3D campaign backgrounds are gone, etc.)
    Creative freedom in custom games (the WE EULA has been changed, adding a lot of limitations - everything you create now fully belongs to Blizzard, read more in other topics; censorship in maps and game names, for example a lobby called “booty bay” can not be hosted, even though it’s the name of an offical WC3 map, etc.)
    Classic graphics in Reforged client look worse (shadows are missing, saturation is off, some spells/effects are missing)
    RoC campaign is now using TFT balancing
    Features that were available before 2018 and have been cut during the latest updates:

    Arranged teams
    Reconnection via GProxy
    Overall game stability (desyncs or crashes would almost never happen, now custom games are plagued with both)
    Bot features (only going to list some of them):
    Online lobby list and in-game chat, available from a browser (what games are hosted right now, how many players are in a lobby, etc.)
    Competitive custom games (auto-balance and matchmaking based on ELO or empirical algorithms specialized for each custom map)
    Ability to kick/ban trolls (after the removal of bots they added the ban functionality, but you would have to re-ban the person every session)
    Better ping/latency
    Protection against hacks and maphacks
    Anti-spam protection
    Automatic replay saving and archiving with easy search from a website
    Game/replay archive
    Probably many more things that I can’t recall at this moment
    I know this wall of text is not going to achieve anything, this is more for myself - I had to get it off my chest and let people know what ActivisionBlizzard has truly done to our game.
    I just want to play the game I love.

    Blizzard actually removed features from the people that paid for Classic and TFT boxsets. Even if you didnt buy Reforged, you just lost access to cross-play, to player profiles, to animated backgrounds and many more things. Terrible.

    This is the most awfull game of Blizzard I've ever played. Im playing in WC3 since 2003 (with timeouts).A lot of bugs, no optimization, no balance. Some bugs are still exist a few month since the very begining of beta. I think somebody should be fired from the Blizzard. Sorry for my English. Not enough words to express my dissapointment

В самой игре настройки для смены языка нет, нужно менять из лаунчера и докачивать еще 3Гб обновлений. Создать игру с ботом смог после 10 попытки. Новая озвучка ужасна - актеры просто читают с листка, и явно не понимают, о чем они вообще говорят, актерской игры нет никакой.
    Более того, теперь недоступна классическая игра, а значит даже просто поиграть в старую версию не выйдет.
    Огромное число багов на квадратный сантиметр, куда не ткни - везде что-то сломано. Многие возможности классической версии зачем-то вырезаны, например кастомные кампании, синглплеер, игра по локальной сети, личные кабинеты, кланы, каналы чата, этот список можно еще долго продолжать.
    Наблюдал за тем, как проходит бета с мрачным пониманием того, что многое из обещанного близами сделано не будет, но не ожидал, что будет настолько плохо.    … Expand

    Broken promises. No new additions to campaign, no new UI, a lot of bugs, models look like they were taken from generic Chinese f2p mmo, graphics are downgraded looking at BlizzCon build, cinematics are not updated.

    A lot of broken promises and a lot of downgrades compared to the original, which makes me sad to leave such a bad review for this game. It could have been much better, but apparently Blizzard just isn't the company that it used to be.

    If the aim of this game was to improve the graphics (B)Lizzard could have just did a simple paint job on the units OR use the SC2 engine if they wanted so badly to improve the game. They decided to go a third way to build over an old engine and expect things to happen.     This is an incomplete game. If you buy a house or a car you'd expect to have the basic features like windows and doors. Why is this so hyped and not punished is something beyond reasoning. If you expect to receive such crappy service in other aspects of life, then you have pretty **** expectations for how service should be done.
    Also new graphics are eye rending and distinguishing between units is close to impossible.    … Expand

    Desperate money scheme. Superficial remaster and fake hype. This so called "renewal" of the game did not improve it in anyway and even more, it massacred the classic game just for you to buy the shiny looking asian graphics. Basically their idea was to force you buy Reforge by destroying the old, refined and finished product. No wonder why the score is negative.

    Reforged was something that immediately excited me, a remake of the original game? With better cutscenes, better graphics, improved ui, improved story and lore.     New cutscenes? Scrapped.
    New UI? Scrapped.
    New Story and Lore to better tie into World of Warcraft? Scrapped.
    Campaign map redesign? Scrapped.

    All that this game is, is nothing more than a graphical "improvement" of the old game, it still has the exact same lazy cutscenes, the same voice acting, the exact same campaign, exact same campaign maps, everything is the exact same except for the models and enviroments.

    The ONLY good thing that this game did, was port over the Classic Warcraft 3 into the Battle.Net client and even that is a very luke warm thing indeed.

    To anybody saying "bUtT thEY diDnTT pRomISe a REEEmakE" look again back at the announcement, look as well to their official website for Warcraft 3. They clearly state and I quote
    "Warcraft III: Reforged is a complete REIMAGINING of a real-time strategy classic."
    So please, if you like this game then good for you enjoy this hollow experience, but stop licking the boot of a company that'll no sooner sell you off to some blackmarket slave ring if they'd be able to get more money from you there.    … Expand

    To put it simply, the game is not what was promised or what has been shown off over the past 2 years. The only positive is that the models and textures are an improvement but even they are not consistent with their style due to many of them being outsourced.

    The worst part, in my opinion, is that you can't just go back and play the original/classic Warcraft 3 anymore because it forces you to update to reforged whether you bought it or not. You have to download the full Reforged client which is a little under 30GB, a staggering increase over the original game which is under 5GB. And of course the people who don't purchase it don't have access to the new textures and models but are still forced to download them.
    There are no custom campaigns anymore and also many custom games are broken because of the forced update to the new reforged client, including all versions of Troll & Elves, which is probably my most played custom game. I bought Reforged for the custom games and many of the don't even work.
    Many players are also reporting that when going into the campaign of the game that they are getting an instant defeat screen.

    The game is nothing more than a HD remaster and Blizzard failed to even get that right. Save your money, do not buy this game, especially in its disgusting current state. I strongly believe that partway through development the funding was cut to the point that they barely managed to get the game out, even with a delay of about a month and a half.    … Expand

    The multiplayer works well is about the only positive. For some reason they got rid of the single player skirmishes. Why get rid of feature like that? Campaign was buggy on the first mission. Instead they gave it a somewhat lackluster graphics upgrade and then removed useful features didn't add anything new and broke what was already working.     I never thought I'd be creating a metacritic account, but here we are. Blizzard, if you read this, get it together. This is abhorrent and is fundamentally against everything you've stood for in the past.     It's obvious with the horrible rating that Blizzard destroyed WC3 reforged.

    The worst part IMO is that they destroyed classic WC3 as well, forcing an update that downgrades a beloved game. Don't spend any more money on Blizzard guys, this is the only way to get the ones in charge (who know nothing about game development, what the gamers want, and don't uphold Blizzard original values) to act.

    There rest of the game is old code, bugs and disappointment.

    Maybe the first game from Blizzard that don't keep in my collection.

    If this is the way Blizzard is headed I think they just lost me as a fan and customer in 2020...

The graphics looked amazing, the cinematic re-shoots with better camera panning and more dynamic character animations.     When the game was delayed, I was very disappointed, but I thought "you can't rush perfection". They even released the beta test for players to get into to recompense the delay. At this pointed I started to feel the doubt, I hadn't tried the beta, but I saw plenty of game-play from other people. The graphics were barely a step up from the classic client. The units may have looked smoother, but in the larger picture, every meshed together, and it didn't make that much of a difference especially with the flat surroundings and buildings. The game looked more like a really well done Fan-created mod, than that of a Triple A studio.
    The final nail in the coffin for me was the cinematic scenes for the actual campaign. There was no longer that personal touch that I had seen in 2018. There was an even worse punch in the guy when I saw a fan-made scene made by another Blizzard fan on youtube. Something he had done for free. It had more passion and creativity in that one video, than the entire game.    … Expand

    Having people make content for your game and then you say it's yours because you dont want another DotA to happen.

    You sure gave the map creators the tools to make the maps but you sure didnt come up with them or make them in no way should you have the rights to it incase it becomes something bigger than just a custom map.

    The blizzard i loved back when WC3 was launched is dead and gone.

    This game was a huge part of my childhood. They removed ladder, profiles, tournaments.. custom map makers have no incentive anymore, they killed the creativity. They lied about what the game would be.

    To do this to a game that was so crucial to their success.. it os sad to see.. hoe can you fivk this up?

    这世界上还有很多如CC创用等应用性的著作权规则可以参考。

    但暴雪很贪婪地直接一巴掌全部抓走，不被玩家们唾弃才是怪事。

    Paying again for the same game, which you do get some graphic update that's actually not that obvious unless you zoom real close. But no one zoom in close up for RTS.     Why so low when the game is technically playable at this point? Well, because not only it's not worth its price and is still a bug-ridden mess, but what really subtracts points is the fact that by releasing reforged they have virtually killed classic community and made our experience worse for a 17-year old game all out of sudden.

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.
