    All the instabilities of this game put aside, the game is as close to a scam as a game could possibly be. Even EA and Ubisoft haven't done a bait & switch at such a high level as Blizzard has done with Reforged. Just watch the countless interviews from Blizzcon 2018 or watch the culling trailer and unless you're blind, you'll see how they blatantly scrapped 90% of Reforgeds promisedAll the instabilities of this game put aside, the game is as close to a scam as a game could possibly be. Just watch the countless interviews from Blizzcon 2018 or watch the culling trailer and unless you're blind, you'll see how they blatantly scrapped 90% of Reforgeds promised features.
    Some of the scrapped features are:
    - Remade cutscenes in the style of the culling as it was showcased during Blizzcon.
    - New voice actors.
    - New story elements to connect Warcraft 3s story directly to WoW.
    - Changed campaign maps (Only ~3 were changed in the end)
    - New UI (As showcased during Blizzcon)
    - The world editor is largely the same and still adheres to a 2002 engines limitation such as Map dimensions, texture limit, unit limit etc.

    And this is not the worst of it, in addition to all of the above-mentioned, they killed the original Warcraft 3 and forced users who own that game to use the Reforged launcher which lacks many features such as custom campaigns, local play, offline play and all the battle.net 1.0 features.
    So not only did they make a bad game, they also made a good game bad. Congratulations. If I could give this a negative score, I would without a doubt.    … Expand

    -Forced spyware under our noses during patch 1.28~
    -Rushed updates filled with confirmed bugs. -Broke dime-a-dozen custom maps that will never be brought back -Forced us to update 30~ Gigabytes of wasted disk-space of something we cannot use. -Gave us 0.2-10 FPS Menus made via HTML that you can run through browsers (Let that sink in) -A game    Let’s make a list. So far, Blizzard has:

    -Fiddled with the EULA clauses, removing many of our rights of possession to works we’ve made through our own time and effort (We already didn’t have much possession anyways).
    -Got a legendary and iconic game, again, LEGENDARY AND ICONIC GAME, to the status of BELLOW FALLOUT 76’s., AGAIN, BELLOW FALLOUT 76!

    This is no longer a sinking ship. This right here is called a catastrophe of epic proportions. There is absolutely no way to bounce back from the situation. Bethesda’s programming is abhorrent, but blizzard created a new standard of ‘broken beyond recognition’.    … Expand

    I am very dissapointed. I have bought a Spoil of War edition but only things that was added are better looking models, and slightly different cinematics (ingame cutscenes are the same, sadly, so no 4+hours, as advertised). I just cannot recommend this game for anyone who has classic W3. In my opinion its just a Scam, Scam of epic proportions. You are going to pay 30/40€ for reskin. I dontI am very dissapointed.     Вчера я сел играть, прошел Пролог, прошел 4 миссии за Альянс.Я вижу изменения в мелких деталях ( не касающихся графики и озвучки), рубаки отдающие честь, ходьба юнитов во время катсцен, пехотинец которые сидит и полирует свой щит, Артас который садится на колено, когда говорит с ребенком после обороны Странбрада, добавление вместо Охотников за головами - Лесных троллей, во время второй мисии Альянса "Черная гора проблем / Заварушка у Черного Камня". Я вижу, что была(!) работа над мелочами, но почему при этом синиматики 2003-2004 года, которые не соответствуют 2020 году, когда юниты в катсценах поворачиваются на 180 градусов, как в далеком 2004 году.Я не понимаю почему уделили времени деталям, которые большинство людей бы и не заметили, если бы их не было, но решили не менять, то что менять нужно в первую очередь.
    Почему "переделанный" бой Артаса и Иллидана выглядит, как дешевая работа фанбоя с ютуба и по динамичности даже хуже наспех сделанной старой катсцены из классики?
    Я не буду возвращать игру или требовать деньги, я буду играть в Reforged, я пройду его и он будет вечным напоминанием мне, как Blizzard обмануло своё комьюнити, нарочно или нет, неважно.Вы сами просрали свою величайшее творение, которое жило даже спустя 16 лет.Позор вам.    … Expand

    This poor excuse for a remake made it literally impossible to play the old version of the game. Clans, custom campaigns, all other features from the classic game were essentially deleted in favor of a poorly optimized and falsely marketed sham of a game.

    Warcraft 3 deserved better.

    Loyal but not super hardcore blizz fan since warcraft 1. Since Blizz has been going down the tubes I was only looking forward to this game. Looks like all the reviews were right, I played a few minutes and it's garbage. No remade cinematics. Game doesn't even look as good as advertised, just looks like the same old Warcraft 3.     I am a Warcraft 3 player my whole gaming life. This game was a mess and strapped of everything since the 2018 demo shown at blizzcon. The game run poorly with the new graphics on. Campaign crashes, custom game crashes, 1V1 and other versus games crashes. Mini freezing every here and then. Units and some heroes not talking. Rushed release, no ladder mmr. Very bad for 30 Euro price. and ToI am a Warcraft 3 player my whole gaming life. This game was a mess and strapped of everything since the 2018 demo shown at blizzcon. WC3 is the mother of a couple hugely popular games (wow,dota2) and blizzard spits on Warcraft 3 by releasing this piece of garbage. Its buggy, its choppy, its laggy, the graphics SOMEHOW look worse in the year 2020 from 2003. The art is whack, theres not enough contrast in color, making thjngs hard to see. OnThis doesnt even feel like a Blizzard game. Im a massive fan of Warcraft 3.     This is just a reskin of the old game....for 30€/40€.
    The problem is, all things that where advertised like :improved and expanded campaigne, improved UI etc. is all scrapped.
    Even the pathfindig errors are the same because the just but new grafics over the old programming. i´m just incredible dissapointed in my once most loved gamedeveloper becaus an easy cashgrab seems to be more    This is just a reskin of the old game....for 30€/40€.

    You feel like a billion dollar company looking to once again capture the nostalgia of games of old would be better at coming up with a crappy reskin game. The game plays awful. Units locked into animation that looks worse than Dune 2000 and random disconnects and "mission failed" randomly through campaign mars what could have been a good game.

The environmental graphics such as the grass are bright while character models are grittier. The color contrast just feels weird. Bugs: The game is broken. Multiplayer is completely broken. Profile stats is apparently not an option either. I was unable to find a way to close the general chat.

    We all ended up just playing some of the campaign, and then logging off to play something else. This game is not finished and should not have been sold the way it is.    … Expand

    - No convenience changes to bring it into the modern rts age (select all units, select more than 12 units, ...) - Horrible pings in multiplayer (200+), not suited for rts gameplay (starcraft does not have this issue) - Animations that are capped at 30 fps? - Campaign    - Lots of game breaking bugs (match making not working, campaign missions fail instantly)
    - Horribly outdated UI

    I could go on and on with this. Compare this with the Age of Empires 2 Remake which costs less and does so much more - just feels horrible to see what Blizzard has done with this.

    Edit: Just found out that Blizzard changed the ToS for custom maps. They now claim ownership over all custom map ideas and work done by the community. That's it this is the final nail in the coffin - this game gets a zero.    … Expand

    And I'm not even talking about the female DK, DH, this is unreal.     Broken promises. Bad graphics. Bad voice acting. Technical issues related to perfomance(40 fps in multiplayer games on high end rig, stutters).

    Surprised there's no microtransactions bias going on.
    This is not Blizzard that delivered Diablo and Warcraft to us years ago, its now Activision Blizzard, and it goes to the same dump that EA, Ubisoft and Bethesda resides now. Dissapointment.

    More than 10 years ago, I spent hundreds of hours making a DBZ RPG map with a small team of people I met online.

    I buy this game with high hopes and I can’t even play the goddamn map with other people because it contains 3rd party IP. Blizzard is scared of their own fan creativity now. I requested a refund.

    Complete bait and switch, the quality is even lower than what was shown at Blizzcon 2 years ago. Buggier than the original, models are so mismatched some look grim and other cartoony.

    It's clear this was outsourced and that Blizz gives absolutely no **** about quality since they merged with activision.

Not only does it not deliver what was promised, it simply doesn't work out of the box which was never an issue with any Blizzard game to date.     If you are going to release a paid HD mod at least do not break the game.

    Retroactively makes the original worse. Removes 3rd party custom games, poorly done animation on newer models. One of the worst Menu screens I’ve seen in a while. It feels like Blizzard assigned 2 people to work on this and **** off for 2 years. Unquestionably the worst remaster of a game ever, I will never buy another Blizzard product ever again.

    Overall game stability (desyncs or crashes would almost never happen, now custom games are plagued with both)

    Online lobby list and in-game chat, available from a browser (what games are hosted right now, how many players are in a lobby, etc.)
    Competitive custom games (auto-balance and matchmaking based on ELO or empirical algorithms specialized for each custom map)
    Ability to kick/ban trolls (after the removal of bots they added the ban functionality, but you would have to re-ban the person every session)
    Better ping/latency
    Protection against hacks and maphacks
    Anti-spam protection
    Automatic replay saving and archiving with easy search from a website
    Game/replay archive
    Probably many more things that I can’t recall at this moment

    So so sad to see goodbye blizz and don't expect a loyal fan like me since wc2 times to come back not even for diablo 4 **** that.    … Expand

    Some in-game elements look even worse than before.
    No promises made have been held, e.g: all remade in-game cut-scenes (shown at blizzcon 2018) have been removed.

    Someone says that cons of the reform are undeserved BUT:
    No rating games.
    The clans are gone.
    Lan game has disappeared.
    The offline game in custom has disappeared.
    Missing teams in the chat.
    Custom campaigns disappeared.
    New graphic horrible. In some places (and too often), the new graphics are worse than the original 18 years ago.
    New detailed models look monstrous with a cartoony low poly environment.
    The battle is now much worse read, all pro-gamers unanimously refuse to play with the new graphic.
    Custom files are completely killed (new license agreement and copyright).
    There is no rework promised at the announcement (the juice itself - the promise still hangs on the purchase page).
    The only new cc cutscene, the Illidan vs. Arthas fight, looks worse than fan artwork.
    There is no promised plot alteration.
    No more killing children. Even when in the story you are organizing a massacre of the undead, I must bypass them.
    3D backs were removed from the menu and replaced with a crap soulless 2D.
    Shelter interface on a third of the screen.
    The classic VK3 has been removed from the store, only reform is now available to its owners, but without a new graphic. At the same time, you should still download all 30 gigs.
    Preparation for donation skins in multiplayer.
    In the original, for some unknown reason, removed some memetic phrases from the characters. To change the hotkeys, you need to edit the text file in the game folder. And you are informed about this directly in the game settings and even carefully talked about the way.

Also what the hell, you claim copyright on the all the editor ideas and then ofc you can't have other IP inspired maps because you can't claim them.     Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.

    If you set your expectations a little lower, then Warcraft 3: Reforged is a game worth of your time and money. Sadly, for many of us out there, we were expecting a little more.
