    I know that popular games at some point get a lot of backlash for just being popular, but this games gets trashed waaay to much, and it's a really good game even though it's not the most extraordinary game ever mad. The world is really lineal and inconsistent in therms of desing and the game mechanics although a great concept are extrempley basic.     The combat system is innovative, varied and frequently challenging but lacks depth and winning a tough battle is much more about eye-finger coordination than strategy or creative thinking. The puzzles are somewhat clever but there are very few of them in the game and the level designs aren't the most impressive or diverse, particularly in the tedious first half of the game. When you encounter a monster, you can do certain actions (including “Check”, “Console”, “Talk”, “Complement”, “Joke”, “Hug”, “Flirt”, etc…) besides fighting and you can even choose to “Spare” him, which only works after you do certain actions or when the monster is weakened enough. This is an interesting system and it's much more fun and less repetitive than simply attacking the monsters. But with some monsters, including all the bosses, the “Spare” option sometimes doesn't work the same way than with regular monsters or doesn't work at all, and the game only gives you a small clue about this in the beginning and never reinforces it after that.

    To “Spare” a monster doesn't reward you with any EXP points (only with coins), so if you don't kill any monster your character will remain weak and with low HP throughout the entire game. It doesn't make any sense to me that you earn EXP points for killing the monsters and not earn any for winning the battles without killing them, and it only makes the game more frustrating in the process. To “Talk” and “Spare” monsters starts out as a more compelling course of action then simply killing them, but because your character’s HP remains low and the monsters become stronger as you advance in the game and never show you any mercy (they will always try to kill you if you don't spare them, even if you don't attack them), the result will probably be an increase in “Game Over” screens per hour. This eventually forces you to backtrack a little to buy more health items. In conclusion, the only incentive to continue not killing any monster after the first few hours of the game is to see how that affects the story and the ending.

    If you kill one of the bosses the game will probably punish you by becoming increasingly hard and mind-numbing and making the final boss battle almost impossible to beat – at least the boss that I killed had that consequence – which is extremely unfair and anti-climactic, particularly because the game doesn't give you any clue about this. Also, it’s impossible to go back to before your last save point because you can't have more than one save file, which is another incomprehensible and dated aspect that adds more frustration – if this is the price to pay for a few speech lines alluding to what you did in previous lives and playthroughs and other so called “4th wall destruction” elements present in the game, it's not worth it in my humble opinion. In other words, the choice to be a pacifist or a murderer appears to be just an illusion of choice, since the game never gives you any chance to redeem yourself.

    The controls are simple enough to be enjoyable to play with a keyboard and it's also compatible with non-Microsoft gamepads.

    STORY ( 7 out of 10 )
    Character speeches and narrative lines are well written – some of them are genuinely funny and a handful are truly thought provoking. The characters themselves are odd and have unique personalities, although throughout the game none of them is developed to the point of becoming completely three dimensional. The plot is mysterious and different enough and has some heart, and it's impressive how the game remembers what you did and how some of your actions affect the tone of the story and its characters' behaviors, but at the same time it's incoherent and doesn't seem to have a very well-defined vision of what it wants to transmit to the player. I couldn’t beat the final boss and thus haven’t seen any version of the story finale.

    “Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP” has a much more beautiful pixel art design then this game and there are a few times when it's not perfectly clear what's happening on screen, which hurts the gameplay.

    SOUND ( 7 out of 10 )
    The music is enjoyable, its tone always fits the game seamlessly, but the sound effects are just awful.

    VALUE ( 9 out of 10 )
    The game lasts between 7-11 hours, depending on how you play and how many times you die in the game. That's a great amount considering the low price, despite the fact that after I finished the game I didn't want to replay it, even knowing there was still new dialog to be read and multiple endings to be unlocked.

    I don't want to put spoilers if you don't already know about the combat or the choice of combat, but I felt the concept with numerous endings depending on how one plays the game was brilliant! But it is a game that is only a few hours long, has a useless inventory system, and was I the only one creeped out by the some of the characters wanting to date the main character? I get making the game short encourages numerous playthroughs to see different endings and play the game differently, but you may have to do everything perfect in every minute of the game or not get the ending you want.     Undertale is a neat parody of RPGs. A great game, that you should play if you are a RPG fan, even with the terrible fanbase.
    The game has great characters, a unique setting, and a presentation that remembers me NES games.
    A good one, give it a try.

    2) This game was made by only 1 person, Toby Fox. He did the art, story, music, etc. a) As a $5 dollar game made by one dude, the game is quite good. It is VERY charming. b) The are 3 endings. Each play through last 6 hours and they are EXACTLY THE SAME. Only the final 10-15 minutes change. If

    In conclusion, it is a charming and short $5 made by one guy. It is very basic, but quite creative. Let me be clear though, this thing is not as amazing as some weird fans are making it to be. Shovel Knight, Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Celeste TRUMP this game. Sonic Mania Plus for $20 is 10/10/ I cannot emphasize this enough, Undertale is a nice $5 game.

    Undertale is a wonderful game, largely due to its exceptional story as well as wonderful characters. While its gameplay mechanisms are unique, creative, and solid enough for the first few playthroughs, they are significantly flawed, and their flaws compromise the overall gameplay and replayability. Still, I recommend this game to anyone who loves a good story and is not too obsessed withUndertale is a wonderful game, largely due to its exceptional story as well as wonderful characters. Still, I recommend this game to anyone who loves a good story and is not too obsessed with replayability and the sort.
    Below is a more detailed analysis.

    Positives:
    + An overall light-hearted story about love, peace and forgiveness. More mature and disturbing aspects also exist, making the game more interesting.
    + Fleshed-out and lovable characters
    + The music is awesome, especially for people who grew up playing old video games.
    + Your moral choices affect the story, and you can choose your ending.
    + The pacing of the story is just all right
    + Controls are fluid
    + The combat mechanism is quite refreshing and creative
    + A lot of easter eggs that contribute to world-building.
    + As of now, I haven't found anything sloppy or unreasonable with worldbuilding. Most situations ingame are reasonable.
    + Interesting details (such as dialogue) that gives a deeper understanding about the motives of certain characters (I won't spoil this part)

    Negatives:
    - Combat is a bit too easy. The bullet hell is overly simplified and not really interesting enough. There is also a lack of higher difficulty modes, forcing those looking for a challenge onto the darker routes (which is why I quit playing). This is not good for the game's replayability.
    - The theme of mercy and pacifism gradually loses its charm gameplay-wise. Each enemy can be spared by a set method, and after you figure it out, all you need to do is to repeat what you did again and again. It is fun for the first time, but after maybe 2 playthroughs, it becomes pretty bland and robs you of any incentive to spare NPCs. This impacts the game's replayability.

    Neutral Aspects:
    ~ The visual style is unique and quirky, and quite simplified. I'm not sure whether this is a good thing.
    ~ A lot of content left intentionally unexplained. Good for fan speculations and fanmade content, but perhaps a little bit confusing......?

    Overall:
    Solid and worth its price, and wonderful for the first few runs until you get the perfect ending. The mechanisms are sufficient to support the game. The flaws, while significant, are not likely to impact players who simply want to enjoy the story.

    Although still overrated by many, Undertale remains to be a great short-and-sweet JRPG. Combat is quite innovative and the characters are very lovable. Unfortunately, the game is quite short and feels like its missing something to me.

    While I think this may very well be one of the most overrated games of all time, it is a good game. It is a breath of fresh air in a world where developers seem more focused on making the best graphics instead of a good story or good gameplay.

    The story however, is bustling with great characters and expectation breaking, and whilst it is not perfect, being quite confusing at times, and having a quite typical ending.
    The characters more than make up for this.

    Making an otherwise typical ending much more emotional then in any other game.

    This doesn't negate the fact that the ending concept is mediocre. But in this game is works suprisingly well.

    The graphics are clearly not the focus here, and i can tolerate that, but Toby clearly stil wanted a fantastic atmosphere, and that is percisely what we got.
    The style, the graphics, and especially the music makes the atmosphere in this game mesmerizing.

    Speaking about the music, the boss battles are truly something else.

    But actually no, they mostly work as normal enemy battles, just longer, and of course, more difficult.

    But the bosses also have different attacks, often having a very clear goal and/or style with their attacks.
    Combine that with the jamming music in the background, the bosses in this game become a site to be witness, whilst not perfect (For example, patterns could be a good bit more unique, and there aren't really any clear stages)
    They are still incredibly enjoyable, and work as pretty much the selling point of the game (other than the story)

    The base gameplay however can get boring, and whilst the neat atmosphere does contribute to negating boredome, it can still be a present flaw.

    The story and graphics are very, very, very, very poor. But the gameplay drags this game out of annonimity. I don't think it's as good as the critics/fans promote it to be, but definitely worth a try if you don't have any other game in the way.

    A sad product of the "retro games are now cool again" era.
    The characters, the story, nothing really grabbed me. I like how it did try to do something interesting with the boss fights, but overall it was a really forgettable game for me, frankly it felt like a waste of money with the low price that it had.

    I have never understood why it's always the average games that explode. Flappy Bird, Five Nights at Freddy's, and now this. Yeah, I'm not going to make very many friends with this one. But let it be known I do not think this is a bad game. I just think it could have been so much more. To be fair, I've never liked RPGs. The only reason I even gave this a go was because I have two friendsI have never understood why it's always the average games that explode. Flappy Bird, Five Nights at Freddy's, and now this. Yeah, I'm not going to make very many friends with this one. But let it be known I do not think this is a bad game. I just think it could have been so much more. To be fair, I've never liked RPGs. The only reason I even gave this a go was because I have two friends who are enamoured with it. So I was pretty hesitant to try it out. Lo and behold, I didn't think much of it. I did see it through to the end, though.

    One of the game's main draws is that you're able to choose either a "Pacifist Route", or a "Genocide Route"; either using the ACT command to pacify foes through simply talking to them, or using the FIGHT command to slaughter foes. I knew about this going in and as such I was ready to do a Genocide Route because I figured I'd have more fun that way... until I learned that the Genocide Route involves near-constant grinding as one is required to defeat every monster in a given area. After learning this I was particularly soured and ended up just clearing through the game only fighting enemies I encountered naturally, which the game considers a "Neutral Route". Sure, the clue was in the title, but after seeing that the Pacifist Route involves no grinding whatsoever it's hard not to feel jealous. And no, I'm not going back to play through the entire game as a Pacifist just to skip grinding, that would be silly. to do on a game I don't like.

    Its "heartwarming" characters I found more irritating than charming (with the possible exception of Sans and Papyrus). Its "unique" gameplay I felt was an unstable mash of an RPG and a "bullet hell" shooter that demanded the use of a controller due to constant spikes in difficulty. The story was clichéd with most of the "twists" being fairly predictable (there's one in particular that doesn't even affect one if they are playing on the Genocide Route), and the humor was hit-and-miss, most of which being references or "random" humor, both of which I despise.
    There's also nostalgic pandering to other quirky RPG games, such as Earthbound and... yeah, that's about it. I have a feeling the reason most people like this game so much is because it follows in Earthbound's steps so much you may as well just call it a sequel with a frustrating bullet hell game attached.

    That being said, the soundtrack is phenomenal, with many varied genres and styles. I've added a lot of the songs to my music playlist on YouTube, because holy hell, I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a soundtrack nearly as much as this one.

    In short, if you like RPGs, give it a go. I have a feeling this is just a game that wasn't for me, and that's fine. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go build a bunker. This game has a fanbase that's mostly rooted in tumblr, and God knows they're all nutters over there.

    This game was extremely overhyped. I was expecting a life changing experience based off of the steam reviews but all I got was a mediocre puzzle based rpg. It was meh.

    Obviously everything's a matter of opinion. I did like the nostalgia feel to the game, the music and especially the sense of humor. However it can be an extremely dull game at times. I think the innovation it displays, while intriguing, has been somewhat over-hyped, unfortunately. It is a good game, however nothing justifies it being an incredible experience.

But this time authors didn't completely forget about game play itself and even tried to introduce something new so game is not bad to play, but definitely too easy.     Why is this game so popular?? The story is not very engaging, and the combat system is a interesting concept but gets old very quickly. Yeah you can make decisions, but if that's the type of game your looking for there are many better choices out there. I watched a full playthrough, and i can safely say this game is nothing more than slightly above average at best.

I received Undertale as a surprise Christmas present from my brother, whose only comment on the game was that it's "really good".     This is probably the best way to experience a game like Undertale, as much of its WOW Factor supposedly relies on the story and how the player interacts with the game's world or characters. Whether heart-breaking or hilarious, most of these parts are well executed. The major problem is that the bulk of the game, puzzle solving and RPG elements, tend to be awfully boring and repetitive. Puzzles which take place outside of battle are very uninspired and mostly seem to be a case of trial and error, or repeating a certain pattern. Those which do occur in battle sequences are funny at first, but quickly wore thin when I realised I had to repeat the same process several times depending on which enemy I encountered. I have not even been able to force myself to complete one play through. Some people may say that I since I haven't completed the game I shouldn't be writing a review, but if the game truly bored me to the point at which I no longer want to play it, then I regard that as a serious problem.

    Undertale is quite short, so I've heard, but since player choices influence the story, several different endings and outcomes can arise from in-game decisions. While this may seem like a good idea on paper and works well in other games, for me it just created a sense of constant paranoia. The game constantly usurps common assumptions and tropes of the RPG-genre, and this sometimes works to humorous effect. However, that also means it is not clear which decisions will influence the play-through, which decisions won't, and which decisions actually have a required answer/action in order for the story to progress. Of course, it would be easier if it were possible to predict the consequences of your actions, but in a fantasy, convention-defying world such as the one presented in Undertale, doing so is extremely difficult. But! If I make a mistake, then surely I can just reload my old save file, and start the section over, right? Wrong! Undertale actually remembers if you reload your file in some cases, so whether you like it or not, you may be stuck with the adverse effects of a previous mis-click or accidental push of a button for the entirety of your playthrough. All-in-all I found this choice-making aspect of the game very flawed and more frustrating than enjoyable.

    That is not to say Undertale is all bad, not in any sense, and '6' is not a bad score. The music is absolutely superb. Although, I found the retro style graphics and music clash with pieces that are more orchestral. The game really does ooze atmosphere despite its graphical style. Furthermore, regular enemy encounters are great fun the first time around, and most of the Boss Battles are so ingeniously hilarious or touching that I would still recommend you give the Undertale a try. It really does show some innovative game design, and the interactions with the main cast of characters are the most enjoyable part of the Undertale for me. Unfortunately, it is the dull process of getting to the good parts that takes up most of the game. I also find the game's story and pacing to be very slow, which is fine if the game play is fun, but it most cases it just isn't. Furthermore, once you've figured out the trick to beating a certain boss or enemy, having to repeat the process if you die can feel very repetitive. Not every joke or fourth-wall breaking effect is funny and sometimes rub off as rather annoying. The level of importance or outcome of different decisions is never really clear until it's too late, and in my opinion this takes away most of the fun that should have come from these segments.

    Overall, Undertale is a great, but seriously flawed, game that I would recommend to fans of RPGs. As someone who loved Chrono Trigger, a superb RPG with multiple endings, and also story-driven games like Ace Attorney, I'm disappointed I don't love this game as well. Unfortunately, for me, Undertale's gameplay is rather lacklustre is most parts, and there are not enough occasions when the game is engaging or fun. Maybe it suits you down to the ground like the hundreds of others who gave this game 10/10, just be aware it might not be for everyone

    Also, for being a very satirical game, its humor sometimes misses the mark. At times I actually laughed loud at jokes, while other times I just rolled my eyes or found them just plain dumb. Same thing with the plot, at times it got me excited and curious, and at other times it got me bored thinking it was dragging on too much.

    The characters are interesting and grow on you after a while, to a point where I cared to try a re-run to see multiple endings.

    Anyway, it is a fine game and worth a shot for anyone who played enough JRPGs. But I'm puzzled at why so many people consider it a masterpiece of sorts.

    I once gave a 10/10 to Undertale, but i realised that i was wrong all along, because i made a review, without actually playing the game, and until i played the game, i regretted the score, Undertale could have gotten a 6/10, but because of my extremely retarded decision, i now look like a 12 year old fan boy, that supports the game, very stupidly, and doesn't count as an actual critic.
    So
    I once gave a 10/10 to Undertale, but i realised that i was wrong all along, because i made a review, without actually playing the game, and until i played the game, i regretted the score, Undertale could have gotten a 6/10, but because of my extremely retarded decision, i now look like a 12 year old fan boy, that supports the game, very stupidly, and doesn't count as an actual critic.
    So here's my actual review.
    Undertale while being a unique game, with unique gameplay, great story, and memorable characters, there are still some flaws.
    These flaws include,and ugly overworld, a slow and almost boring beginning, and gameplay, that functions as a bullet-hell game, rather than an RPG, because there is no strategy, the bosses don't take any time to think, and you only have 1 attack, so you have to either spam the fight button, or spam the mercy button.
    But the biggest problem with the game, is the Hotland section, you see, once you get to Hotland, after meeting Mettaton and Alphys for the first time, the game becomes annoying, as it throws at you unnecessary text, forcefully, making it really irritating to get to other areas, while you have these pointless comments appearing out of no were.

It's enjoyable, silly and unique in it's battle system, which makes a nice change from the usual RPG mechanics. Undertale is definitely not the worst game I have ever played, it's not really even bad. In fact, I am impressed by some of the features that were coded into the game.

    Then why don't I like it?

    Well for one, the humor of the game relies too much on memes. This already completely dates the game as memes come and go fairly quickly on the internet. In 5-10 years the humor will most likely be pretty unenjoyable because it relies too much on current-day memes to be funny instead of... actually being funny. So many people praised it for its comedy, but I generally found myself getting annoyed at all the "jokes". I haven't really seen many smart jokes that were actually genuinely funny and the ones I did see were too few and far between.

    Now I could look past the terrible jokes if the characters were great, but I could not really relate to any of them, so I found it hard to care about them. All of the characters seemed to be defined by quirks rather than an actual personality like characters out of an M. Night Shymalan flick. While quirks can be funny if done right, most of the characters relied on meme humor and just come off as annoying. I'll admit though, some scenes with Payprus were genuinely funny, but one thing dragged it down... The annoying and piercing sound that kept playing everytime he talked. Everytime a character talks in this game, they emit some of the most annoying sounds I have ever heard and it really makes it hard to care for them when their death means that the noise will finally stop. There are also other characters in the game that will interrupt your gameplay to show you that they made a social media post... 5 times... in one minute. I counted. It's annoying as ♥♥♥♥. So yes, the characters everyone else praises and says made them get "the feels", I could not stand at all and just wished that they would die.

    Which brings me to another con with the game. Morality and how it is treated in Undertale. This is one feature that everyone kept talking about. "It's an RPG where you don't have to kill anyone, it's so unique, it has not been done." Wrong. It has been done and it is not very unique. I mean Postal 2 also allowed you to play the game without killing anyone. Anyway, morality all kind of boils down to two different paths: Kill=Bad and Mercy=Good. I find that setting the scene is a great way to understand the flaw here. You are walking along a path when a floating horse thing jumps out of the bushes and tries to strangle you with its muscles.... just go with it. You dodge his attack, but now he starts to sweat bullets at you, clearly trying to murder you. He shows no signs of stopping so you attempt to protect yourself, killing him in the process. you're not evil, right? Wrong. The game says that you are automatically evil because you hurt that poor defenseless creature and you had the option to run away and risk getting shot in the back by him or flex with him and hope that he just goes away. If you kill, the game starts whining about how much of a monster you are and how you are disgusting because you kill for the fun of it and you are left thinking, "But they kind of were trying to murder me..."

    Another problem I have with this game is that there are never really any tough decisions to make. Once you play for a half hour, you realize that the game offers you the choice to kill everyone, but really discourages that playstyle. Thus, there is one "right" way to play the game which I really hate. Why are there no decisions where you don't know if you made the right choice? One of the tags for this game is "choices matter" and while that is true to a certain exent, all of the "choices" feel a bit one sided. It is apparent that there is one path the dev wanted the players to take and that is perhaps the most disappointing part of the game.

    Combat in the game is fairly interesting... for the first five minutes. It gets old fairly quickly and I found myslef dozing off during many of the "boss battles" which is not good for any game, particularly an RPG. The boss battles are supposed to be some of the most exciting parts of an RPG and... they're just not. The gameplay boils down to move your heart around a little bit every so often and avoid the falling or moving stuff.... that's it.

    Overall, I can barely stand to play this game, but I understand why some people would like it. To them it's funny and emotional, I definitely did not get the same feeling and I personally would not suggest it. To me, it is not worth ten bucks and I would wait for it to get a big discount before buying it.

I would recommend playing it (And I hoped you have before reading this, given I marked it with a spoiler warning, as it's best experienced blind) but temper your expectations, whatever the fanboys say.

    It's not that I don't like Undertale, I like it a fair bit, but it's not as good as it's cracked up to be. The Characters are okay, I suppose, but I never really felt like I was growing attached to them, which really makes the genocide route lack impact. Undyne is a self-righteous fishwoman. Papyrus is that kind of tryhard funny that I can just imagine children getting a kick out of. Flowey and Chara are just nightmare fuel.

    Where Undertale shines the most in my opinion is the music and the story. Learning more about the story and background only left me wanting to know more. Why did Chara come to the underground? Why did he/she/it/godless hellspawn hate Humans so much?

    One of my biggest complaints is how badly designed the final boss fight against Sans is in the Genocide run. The Dark Souls games (1 definitely, 2 sometimes, never 3) are examples of how you do difficulty correctly, if you get walloped by a giant goat demon brandishing two Machete's, you expect that to sting. Sans, on the other hand, is what's known as **** difficulty. Toby did a lot of the enemy move sets flawlessly in UT, never too hard, but it's still a test of how well you can handle it. Sans is 90% attacks that either cover the entire bullet board in poison BS, or attacks that require finesse more than what the controls (which do lean towards the sluggish) will allow.

    At least his battle song is kickass, I guess? I can appreciate a good guitar riff.

    While I expect things like Asriel's pacifist fight to be hard, his doesn't even scratch San's fight. I would EXPECT Asriel to be a pain in my ass, given that it's stated that if a Monster obtained a human soul, the result would be unimaginably powerful, and considering he's absorbed six of the damn things, I think you see my point.

    Meanwhile, he's put to shame by a skeleton with NO (and I mean NO) explanation as to why he's so powerful except for "He just is" (I get that he used to work with Gaster, or some such, that still doesn't explain it away) A fine example of why this boss fight is summarily badly designed; If you somehow manage to suffer through his other attacks, he gets to the point where you can spare him. If you continue attacking after this point, the game will actually spawn bones that can hit your heart icon when it's your turn (i.e if you're trying to heal) and do damage. It starts off slow at first, with a bone that flies back and forth next to the window where your heart appears when picking a target to attack, but will eventually start on the bottom most buttons (FIGHT, ACT, USE, MERCY)

Desde mi punto de vista un buen juego, interesante, un retro con aire retro, Pero llevado a la cheta por el hype descarado que le cayo encima, que es un juego indie. si lo entiendo y eso es un gran paso para bajar de su sitio a muchas grandes compañías que no hacen juegos de calidad desde hace muchos años (si es contigo capcom, square enix, bandai-namco,Que jueguito que jueguito es este. The game mainly suffers from an incredibly high amount of down-time, walking, and etcetera, making playing through it an immense chore, but the parts of the game which are well fleshed out can make up for it in several respects.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Undertale es un juegazo y es entendible que a alguno les encante, sin embargo, mucho de lo que transmite es simplemente en base a las experiencias y la narrativa. Me explico:

    Lo bueno:

    -Gráficos. Reflejan bien ese estilo de 8 bits con los personajes monocromáticos en las peleas a su máximo nivel.
    -Música: Junto con el apartado gráfico, otra cosa que destaca de Undertale, ya que su música se asemeja a la de los juegos retro. El mejor punto del juego, excelente sin duda alguna.
    -Jefes y personajes: Son muy carismáticos y las peleas son muy divertidas!
    -Batalla contra Sans: Vaya! En mi opinión, una de mis peleas favoritas contra jefe en un videojuego.

    Lo malo:
    -Gráficos: Así como este juego refleja mas o menos la época de los 8 bits, algunas cosas sinceramente se ven muy feas mas que nada los escenarios que son muy simples y poco inspirados.
    -Duración: El juego es muy corto, y no me digan que es un juego indie. Hay juegos indie que son incluso muchos mas largos que juegos hechos por empresas. La primera vez que jugas al modo historia, uno lo puede terminar (o al menos yo lo termine) en menos de 2 horas.
    -Linealidad, sistema de RPG, historia y finales: El juego es un RPG, pero no tiene mucho de RPG (la verdad es que ni debería haberlo sido). Me atrevería a llamar a Undertale un RPG altamente genérico. Si bien tiene eso de perdonar a los monstruos, que es aceptable, no esta muy bien aprovechado. Ademas de que la primera vez que jugas, lo mas probable es que hagas la ruta neutral, ruta que esta totalmente vacía en comparación con las demás. La primera vez que jugas al juego.... no tenes ni idea de las rutas, no sabes que hay otros finales, no sabes nada! Y si mataste a Flowey, aun menos! Tuve suerte de enterarme al mirar una wiki... de la curiosidad que tenia... si no lo hubiera hecho, ni me enteraba! La historia es muy confusa al principio y si no vas al resto de rutas, no te enteras de nada. Aunque la trama en si es muy interesante, que va de la mano con el gameplay, incluso autoparodiandose a si mismo, cosa muy innovadora y destacable! Pero el tema de las rutas arruina un poco la experiencia, volviendose por cierto tedioso, ya que la manera de entrar a ellas es determinada por la cantidad de enemigos que mueren en lugar de multiple choices que es como debería haber sido también. Muy buena historia, pero muy mal contada y con elementos en ella que no me terminan de cuadrar por que lo dejan ahi en el aire, como lo de Gangster o la relación entre Asgore y Flowey, que si bien en la ruta pacifista te la cuentan, faltan muchos datos.
    -Solo podes equiparte una arma y armadura y tenes 20 niveles, ademas de que los encuentros contra los enemigos son siempre los mismos, y no, no me refiero a que son los mismos que aparecen en la misma zona, no, sino que todos los combates son scripts, no hay nada de aleatoriedad. Por lo que simplemente se siente que este sistema RPG esta puesto de manera artificial, que si bien combina bien con la narrativa, a nivel jugable esta mal balanceado y deja mucho que desear.
    -En cuanto a la exploración, es nula. Durante todo el trayecto, uno tiene que ir en linea recta y nada mas.... puzzle, jefe.... puzzle, jefe.... así.... Los puzzles son aburridos, aunque los jefes, como ya dije antes, son muy interesantes. Explorar ademas, no beneficia al jugador, salvo con pequeños detalles de la trama así sueltos que sinceramente uno se los puede saltear.

    No me malinterpreten, Undertale es un juego que he disfrutado mucho. El problema es que solo transmite sentimientos y no diversión, con un sistema RPG mediocre implementado de manera artificial (aunque en si tenga sentido en la narrativa), y que si bien la historia es en si una obra maestra, esta muy mal contada, con datos faltantes y con una rejugabilidad que radica principalmente en las rutas opcionales, pero que el juego no te cuenta sobre ellos. Lo recomiendo totalmente para los amantes de los juegos retro e indie, pero que esta lejos de ser excelente, ya que como producto en si y comparandolo con otros juegos indie, deja un poco que desear. Al menos juegos como The Gray Garden tenían mas personalización y una historia mejor contada. Undertale por cada punto positivo que encuentro, hay algo negativo. Si bien el estilo artístico esta muy bien y es muy retro, hay muchas partes que son demasiado simples. Si bien la historia me encanto, radica en obtener el 100%, y faltan muchos datos, estando la historia principal (la ruta neutral) muy incompleta. Si bien la jugabilidad se integra a la narrativa y trae conceptos muy innovadores, llega a ser demasiado artificial e innecesario por tener encuentros y sistema de nivel basados enteramente en scripts, con nula personalización y decisiones a tomar, como si hubieran metido el sistema RPG a la fuerza por que no les quedaba de otra.
    Un gran juego, pero que le falta pulirse muchísimo. Deltarune termino siendo la evolución de Undertale en cuanto a mecánicas.

Она спокойно могла быть визуальной новеллой или квестом, тогда бы получать удовольствие от сюжета и музыки можно было бы без остановки, в идеальном мире она должна быть музыкальным альбомом. The music is decent but far overpraised. It sounds choppy and pixelated. I understand that's the style it just doesn't resonate with me.     Unfortunately, that doesn't make Undertale a good game. Being totally honest, you probably won't have much fun with it (as I did) .... There are the 2 major things that stopped me from enjoying the game ;

    1-Invisible / Random enenmy encounter.
    I can't believe in 2015 people are still making games with invisible/random enemy encounter. It was a bad idea in 1987, so imagine now... Even Earthbound back in 1994 was clever enough to avoid those **** invisble enemy encounter. So why torture us like this ?

    2-Ugly visuals.
    Don't get me wrong, I usually like retro graphics a lot. But this....this is wrong in every possible way. The sprites are awful, the colors are awful, the environment design, the mapping design, there is about no artistic vision or direction...everything you see in Undertale is just ugly and irritating.

    So in the end, no, I didn't enjoy the game much... I made it about half-way through the game and then stopped, there was no point in going further, really. It's not a zero, but also, I'm sorry about that, it's amazingly far from the 10 in my book.

    -Progression is very linear
    -Short

    Overall, a unique take on RPG games, but ultimately a waste of potential because of poor execution. I feel like the charm of this game clouds people's judgement.

    I've played through the good ending of the game, and I'm really confused as to why people think these characters are fleshed out. I felt nothing this entire game. Few games have made me feel real emotion and this was not one of them. The hype train is real with this one.

Normally when I dislike a critically acclaimed game, I can at least appreciate why people loved it, I just can't seem wrap my head around this one, it all feels like some social experiment or joke that I'm not in on. It doesn't help that negative reviews are being downvoted and deleted.

    I don't get the hype, it's okay, but the game is far less clever than it thinks it is. The full pacifist play-through is **** too. You can go the entire game without "Fighting" a single creature, but yet you are forced to at the end. That, alone, is what killed this game for me.

After four attempts to force myself onward, I quit entirely towards the end of my first play-through, and was only encouraged back by Facebook posts and YouTube videos of multi-playthrough content. A game should NOT have to rely so heavily on such things to keep players engaged, and that is Undertale's biggest failing for me. The pacing is unnecessarily slow, with laborious player movement, slow-scrolling text that is difficult to speed up without skipping entirely, and a few entirely unskippable dull scenes. Much of the dialogue and descriptions were uninteresting or annoying to me. A run mode and better text handling would likely have added a couple of points to my review score.

    The game's big feature is how it reacts to and remembers your choices, even through multiple playthroughs. There are 3 major endings and many minor variations along the way, and they're all very much worth seeing. Or at least, the 2nd and the 3rd are... and I suppose you need the first to make sense of them. But make no mistake, I *HATED* my first play-through.

    Graphics are obviously lackluster but it uses what it has very well. Soundtrack is above average with a couple of standout tracks (Undyne's and another character's themes - 'Spear of Justice' and 'Hopes and Dreams' - stick particularly in my mind). Gameplay is, well, limited outside of the boss fights. There's no value in replaying any of the individual combats once you've learned to dodge and / or spare the enemies. But the parts that are good are very good.

    Finally, the game's score *IS* overly-inflated due to fanboy dogpiling 'unhelpful' assessments on negative reviews, and that is saddening. This is truly a game which is a 8-10 to many and a 0-2 to many others, and those who hated it are by no means wrong. If you're struggling to get through, try looking at a guide, maybe glimpsing at a couple of videos of final and genocide boss fights, and powering through until it gets good. It was worth it for me. But if it's not for you, that's cool too. It's not for everyone.

Going in from hearing the hype, I was expecting some deeply complex game with a world you could explore and very fleshed out characters (especially NPCs who aren't even major ones like the game's fandom seem to love)

    1. For an RPG, it's very short. Aside from attack/act/item/mercy, the game almost feels like a non-RPG. Which I guess is the point since it IS a deconstruction, but still.

    2. I found the puzzles in the game to be very lackluster and rather tacked-on. They really don't require any effort at all to solve.

    3. The gameplay is hit-or-miss: you'll either love the bullet hell-inspired combat system or loathe it immensely. I found some of them to be fun, but others to be extremely frustrating. Undertale is certainly not Touhou levels of complexity with these segments but it's not 'entry-level'/beginner friendly, either. I'd recommend checking out some gameplay on places like youtube first to see if this is your thing or not for the more complex parts.

    4. The humour will either be the best thing ever to you, or grate on your nerves. I found some characters surprisingly annoying when I doubt I should have.

    5. The game's world feels very small, cramped and claustrophobic, which is strange considering the backdrops in some
    areas suggest otherwise (such as in the second area of the game.) The 'town' area is mostly one long corridor. It all feels a bit lazy and lifeless, which is a shame because the art has some charm that isn't properly utilized because of this 'series of corridors' design choice. If the creator ever makes a sequel or any other games along this vein, it'd be wonderful to see more of the world; we're given a brief view, it feels, but nothing that really drew me in. For you it could be different.

    6. NPCs outside of major ones and shopkeepers are very, very flat and undeveloped. So undeveloped that many have static sprites and resemble cardboard cutouts simply pasted onto the map. It's a huge shame because the creator went to the effort of making non-encounter NPCs have original sprites.

    7. A lot of the major NPCs, for me, were hard to get attached to because you're not given enough time to learn about them or see a lot of development outside of standard 'going from hating you to loving you' depending on the outcome of your fight with them respectively. The sudden change from hostility to wanting to be besties with you is rather grating. Undyne averted this, but even then, befriending her is a short affair that kind of stops as soon as it starts, which I found disappointing, as it feels forced. This aspect feels rushed, which is such a shame.
    The game's final boss definitely has a tragic aspect to him, but because there is hardly much build up or mention of this character until the last few moments, we hardly get a chance to know him. So much potential for more that is again sadly underutilized. It would have been nice to have lengthened the game more and put in more moments to really get to know these characters better, as it stands it just doesn't feel long enough.

    8. The music is pretty solid but some tracks do feel a tiny bit inconsistent but for the most part the music is a treat to listen to and very catchy.

    Closing thoughts: Whilst I don't consider it perfect, it's passable, although the replay value for the game depends on how frustrating or tedious you find the gameplay and how bearable you find the characters. If you're not into bullet hell games with characters that sound like 14 year old attention-seekers from sites like deviantArt and tumblr, I'd consider giving it a pass. If you can move past these issues you might get something valuable out of it.

    So for this, I give a 5/10, only because I feel it's a game you'll either come away satisfied with, or dissatisfied with.
    Whilst is definitely shows it's ambitions clearly, I didn't find this game to be mind-blowingly innovative, nor setting any new standards for the RPG genre or indie scene.

    It's Story is amazing but Graphics are pretty much non existent and the Gameplay makes Dead Island look good. Overall it has poor Gameplay/Graphics and great story. Good Idea, poor excecution.

    I think is too overrated, i mean a pixelated game with DECENT story is just incomparable with gta, telltale games and Life is strange. I don't know why people remain in the past, playing a game that could been easily been published 10 years ago.

    The game is mostly a bullet hell which I myself am not fond of. The rest of the game is purely static old rpg build. Also no power ups and a boring way to attack makes this a boring bullet hell.

    I like the music. It was honestly one of the most enjoyable parts of the game. It was classic and retro while being very well put together and fitting for the fights that it went along with. Although that is also it’s downfall, it is tried and true and not really a new or surprising thing in this genre.

    It can’t decide to take itself seriously or just be plain ridiculous. When it is ridiculous it is overly ridiculous, taking things far beyond the realm of serious just to make a small joke. It tries way too hard to make you laugh and goes so far just to make a small joke that barely even made me chuckle. Then with a whiplash it becomes so serious and dark that it feels out of place and makes you think you changed games. In fact the seriousness doesn’t really even kick in until second play through. There isn’t a lot of history given to the player and there isn’t really a way to figure it out either. It’s also hard to understand the timeline of the world when you consider the 6 souls and how much time has passed since the first. Each scene feels painfully awkward and forced like every character you meet is trying really hard to be a certain stereotype. Papyrus is amazingly self absorbed and won’t look past the mirror in his hand. Undyne is the typical popular girl who everyone wants and everyone wants to be. Alphys is the nerdy, unattractive anime fan girl who is in love with the popular girl that you can find in every teen drama ever made. Metaton is just a celebrity pretty boy who is and wants to be the center of all attention in the underworld. Sans doesn’t make sense, since if he watches you this much and cares this much then why make it all like he doesn’t and let you kill all of them. Asgore doesn’t have the balls to actually avenge his son and instead waits around like a pansy. Toriel is kind to a fault, she doesn’t even want revenge against the creatures that took both her children from her. Asriel’s 180 doesn’t make sense. He is so resolved and lost in his hate and anger that he tries to kill you and the entire world. Then seeing you give mercy he suddenly gains back a soul he had lost, which is remarkably still his with all his memories intact and such seeing as how he died, turned to dust, was used to fertilize a flower, then said flower was filled with so much determination that it gave it sentience from the remnants of a left over soul, which is not corporeal, and drove it mad. You can’t regain a lost soul, at least not like that. The game makes a very big point of saying, in great detail, that monster’s souls don’t last after death. Boss monster’s last but only long enough to get absorbed and that is still not very long at all. If the souls are lost and become nothing so easily then it can’t possibly come back after so much time has passed and though such a ridiculous procedure. Especially when the experiment was done before and what came back was failed amalgamations that were nothing near their former selves. This would all be perfectly fine if the story was silly and allowed for deus ex machine unexplained crap to resolve it but it does actually take itself seriously through the last 2/4ths of the game. Lastly and the most disappointing part of the story is how it is given to you. Toriel explains in the beginning that you don’t have to kill, that you can make that choice. From there the player goes through the pacifist run. If the game was presented instinctually and mercy was a forlorn thought that only came about when you fought Asgore and realized he doesn’t really want to fight at all. Mercy is then opened up as an option and is opened for future play throughs. From there the deep dark side of the story is explored and the player’s mind really blows. Instead the story is silly and leads you right to the final conclusion instead of making you think and really look at your self differently after slaughtering monsters.
    I need to point out that the story is not new. It just says out loud what takes place in every RPG ever made. The monsters/soldiers/enemies in general that you are slaughtering to grow levels and save the world do have lives, souls and families. Just because this game yells it at you doesn’t make it a new concept.

    The controls are standard and bland. Also seems a bit unresponsive and slow for a bullet hell.
    6.Replay Value 5
    There is obviously replay in this game, but that’s the problem. The replay is forced and not a choice made by the player because they enjoyed the game.

    I had this game legitimately shoved down my throat by fan boys who couldn't fill they're eye holes with enough of it. My review is MEH. If you like bullet hells and or rpgs then you may like.

    Has a definite fandom, but the first 2 hours or so of the game are kinda mediocre, and unless you really REALLY like the weirdness of it (which I didn't) you won't like this game. Don't think it's bad, just don't think it's the godsend video game mankind has been waiting for that so many people seem to think it is.

    Amazing effort by a one man team, Great music design.
    Just not for me, I didnt enjoy the game one bit.
    Played a couple hours, it just wasnt doing it for me but worth seeing
    how complex of a story one person can make.

    Award goes for Possibly the worst fanbase outside of My Little Pony.

    I didn't want to just be a disgruntled gamer and allow my nostalgia for past games to cloud my judgment, without even playing the game myself. That's when I finally got a chance to give it a try.

    Despite the soundtrack sounding like any old JRPG soundtrack, I can never get sick of hearing JRPG style music in various forms. Although this game and soundtrack was done by an American who is a large fan of JRPGs.

    The gameplay itself was rather boring, and the story itself was nothing new or special. Monsters or enemies attacking you at first, and then you befriend them. It's a typical shounen anime story, or stories you even see in a lot of video games. There's a few unique things sprinkled throughout to try and make this game differ from any other RPG, especially JRPG, even though this game is technically not a JRPG.

    The combat was a little fun, but I think it was fun because the game is so short, I wasn't spending hours doing the same combat system over and over again. I can't imagine if the game was 5-10x in length, and repeating this same combat system for that long. I think due to the game also being short, people were able to like it a little more, because there was no tedious grinding or side quests which might've been a boring fetch quest.

    The menus and equipment was rather simple, and it truly felt like a NES game. The NES games had their time, and that's why they just remain that, a classic. Trying to do a NES type game now just feels a bit ridiculous and feeding off nostalgia. With the internet, there's so many things for people to get their nostalgia fix.

    Other than putting a lot of work into the soundtrack, which seems noticeable, the rest just feels like lazy work in a game for a quick money grab and to have that 15 minutes of fame.

    This is voted as the best game ever, but I think it was voted that back in 2015. It's an insult to gaming for this title to be voted as such, and I am almost positive this game won't really be talked about much in 10 years, while other classic games will still be talked about.

    First of all, the music is fantastic, the graphics are good and the attack system is original.
    But there are a lot of flaws: the story,for an RPG, is way too much simple,the characters are generic and why should I spare the monsters that are trying to kill me? Oh right, to get the best ending.
    The game is too easy: the 2 first bosses won't kill you, the real difficulties are Undyne and Sans(in Genocide).
    I'm harsh with this game because they told me it was a masterpiece, but instead i found a mediocre game.
    I'm disappointed.

    The story is simple, Humans and monsters fought one day and the humans pushed the monsters back, and then you come in as a human falling into the underground, and now you have to get out. That's basically it, not many plot twists, it's simple but not endearing type of simple, the "trying to hard to be different" simple and honestly it's kind of a boring plot. The characters are hit and miss with not enough power and too many misses, many characters are bland and forgetable, while some are good enough. However let's get into the gameplay.

    This game is an rpg based on the mother series, you can see that with the look of it, however you have two ways of dealing with enemies: A. You kill 'em as usual, or B. You do various different ACTions in order to use your MERCY to spare them. The battle system is interesting, but the sparing enemies is as easy as running from them, you get no money but you get enough stuff on the floor to keep you satiated, making sparing kind of pointless. Not to mention this game paints fighting as wrong, Flowey paints a perfect scenario: "What if you meet a relentless killer? You'll die and you'll die and you'll die." So you can't spare every time you have to defend yourself eventually, so ultimately the game's message is screwed up.

    Now let's touch on replayability, this game is short: 10 hours at most, but it doesn't have anything that you'll want to come back for, every playthrough gets staler and staler with nothing giving me any reason to come back. With many of my favorite games there have been moments that I go back to and get the same feeling as I first experienced it, take Mother 3 for example, whenever I play chapter 6, I always cry, without fail. Undertale doesn't have anything like that, nothing at all.

    I wanted to like this game, I wanted to, but there were too many flaws for me to enjoy it, if you want to play this game, play the demo, see if it's your kind of game, if you're looking for unique gameplay with an okay story, play Undertale, if you're looking for a game with great gameplay and a gripping story, look elsewhere. 6/10, Boring game, does have some redeeming qualities.

    Undertale is a great game, possibly the best one I've ever played, it brings the feel of playing Earthbound (as the creator intended) with it's graphics and out of the ordinary story, it makes you feel part of the game, not by making you feel as the main protagonist, but by acknowledging that you are playing the game, it has an incredible soundtrack that matches with the awkward moments,Undertale is a great game, possibly the best one I've ever played, it brings the feel of playing Earthbound (as the creator intended) with it's graphics and out of the ordinary story, it makes you feel part of the game, not by making you feel as the main protagonist, but by acknowledging that you are playing the game, it has an incredible soundtrack that matches with the awkward moments, the relaxing moments, the WTF moments and the epic moments (either in a fight or when listening to Sans dialogue), it also comer with music that makes you feel weird and in suspense when the game wants you to feel that way, all of these things apply to the art style of the game, also the characters are very unique and fun to be with, with every one having a song and font that matches their personality and emotions, couple that with an awesome story that centers about solving things peacefully, awards you for your good doings and has actual consequences for your actions, a bunch of fourth wall-breakers, awesome puns ;D, a lot of Easter eggs and things to theorize about and an immersive experience, only requiring very little money and time and you've got a masterpiece as this is.     I bought Under tale the first Day it was Released, because it ended up in my Steam Queue. When I first played the game, I was far from impressed. In fact, I was bored. The bullet-hell is very repetitive, a five year old could play it. the Soundtrack is okay, but it always sways away from it's pixel-like music switching to some sort of instrumental that just..doesn't Mix too well.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wouldn't call the game bad, but it is very far from "the best game ever" that people make it out to be. I won't go over what the game does well - there are a lot of other reviews that are gushing over it, so just read those. For the parts that I don't like:

    (1) Permanent game state tainting. If you complete the genocide run, your game state is permanently tainted, and you can not achieve a true good ending anymore with sole in-game means.
    The game creates files on your system (deceivingly named "system information") to remember that run of yours, and even if you reset the game, these files remain. Unless you start diving around in your AppData folder, or run an external program that other people wrote to actually reset your state, the game will wait until you finished the very tedious pacifist run (thus sinking many hours into it) - just to turn everything around in the last minute and give you a rather dark ending instead. Which shows that the developer doesn't really respect its users wishes - it's his way or the high way.

    (2) A nasty difficulty spike at the end in every mode but the pacifist mode. Battles are rather simple throughout the game, ramping up slightly as you progress. Once you see the end, the game difficulty spikes - fights reset and restart midway in an attempt to disorient you, the graphics change completely in normal mode runs (Flowey looks like a sore thumb) and you get a slew of attacks to dodge frantically.

    None of that would be bad if you have a difficulty curve that gradually gets you there. Could they not have added a bit more difficulty to the earlier battles? Did they want to add more battles to get the difficulty where they wanted to have it for the final battles, but ultimately ran out of time? Or did they just not care/know how to make the battles gradually more difficult so that they flow nicely into the difficulty of the last battle?

    Part of the reason may also be that other than flavor text, all different modes (pacifist, normal, genocide) have very similar battles as regular encounters - yet players have vastly different stats. Only the fights at the very end become completely different - so the bulk of the game doesn't feel like it's specialized for any of the modes, whereas the end is completely overtuned (pacifist you cannot lose, normal/genocide you will rack up your double-digits attempts).

    (3) The developer seems to be a bit too full of themselves. A quick nod (as was done for the artist, Temmie) is fine, and a welcome distraction, but the developer's character - a dog - is literally everywhere. In a boss fight? Check. Ending? Check. Regular encounter? Check. NPC? Check. In hard mode, rambling on to the NPC that he likes her cooking? Check. Easter egg room, explaining he wrote the game himself? Check. Okay, we get it. Sheesh. Inside jokes (such as a swear word that's only between the developer and some other guy he knows) are bountiful too.

    An item that comes from him - the dog residue (which, by the way, is exactly what you think it is) - is the best item in the game, allowing for unlimited amounts of money. To get the Temmie armor, you'll be playing around with the developer's dog residue (using it causes it to spread over all of your inventory, essentially giving you unlimited amounts of it to sell) until an uneasy atmosphere fills the room. Sounds like fun, right? If you manipulate your save file to add any item to your inventory, guess what is the most valuable item? Not a diamond, not gold, no, the developer's character, selling for over a thousand coins to Temmie.

    Overall the game has potential, but with game state tainting, difficulty spikes, and a developer with a very large ego - ugh. I'm sure a lot of people's time is worth just enough to do the dog residue farming trick, but not mine. No, thank you.

    I've played this game for 40-50 min. and I don't get praise so far, game has some simple puzzles and annoying easy encounters with enemy/friendly monsters. Even if you get into serious fight it is too simple yet dodging can be hard, moving hearth/souls in box is not really top notch gameplay in 80s and 90s definitely but not anymore.

"In order to proceed you must solve this puzzle", "the dungeon is full of puzzles" etc. Yep, that's modern writing for you. Not to mention that the puzzles themselves suck, of course. Why are they even in the game. Also during the fight with that obnoxious gay-robot my father came into the room and spotted what kind of **** I was playing. He got so mad he actually sweared to send me to the military school. Eventually, he didn't, but I wonder that it could've been for the best.     First off, the most obvious one is the characters. Every character in the game is just built on a stereotype and their one flaw. You have the weeb character who actually isn't as happy-go-lucky as it seems, and a skeleton who seems like he wants SERIOUS BUSINESS! but he's actually just innocent and fun-loving. As you can see, the character's aren't that great.

    Second is the genocide route. The genocide route is awful in this game, it's a grind to get through and really should just not exist if you're going to push the player as far away from it as possible, making them frustrated just because they're going an alternate route, it gets obnoxious so much so that you ask why Toby Fox even left the option in the game.

    Third complaint would be the difficulty. This game is nowhere near hard and was especially disappointing for me as I like shmups and games that give challenge in general. Even in genocide the game wasn't too difficult though I give Toby credit for making a harder versions of the bosses, they were much more fun. Alas, the rest of the genocide route is just grind like mentioned above, which if you didn't know, tedious does not equal hard. I would love to see the hard mode finished because this game's difficulty tends to be a cakewalk. It just stays the same, easy difficulty throughout the entire game excluding the genocide route.

    My fourth complaint would be the game's length. So much could of been done with this game and this is one of the main problems. Seriously, if you want to talk disappointing then this game's length is the perfect contender. I don't think much could of been done without changing the story but it felt way too short for it's price.

    My last and biggest complaint would be the stolen assets and music. There are a few tracks that are clearly stolen. One example would be Mettaton NEO/Undyne The Undying's theme. Both of them have the exact same melody throughout their song as Persona 2's boss theme (to recognize it the most, look up the eternal punishment version of the song). It is a clear ripoff and made me lose trust for the game. There are others such as Touhou and Earthbound Zero (Once Upon A Time and Earthbound Zero's main theme) however I just wanted to make an example that is clear as possible. The stolen assets are mostly misc sprites such as tables and lamps being pixelated/drawn over from Earthbound Zero. The negotiation mechanic is also stolen from the Shin Megami Tensei series, and advertised as a whole new feature, it's pathetic to be honest.

    If I had to give credit where it's due, the story isn't too bad and the music that isn't stolen can actually be somewhat good. But even then, that's about it, this game is not worth five dollars. Maybe one or two, but I'd say even five is a bit over the line. If you haven't played any Earthbound or Shin Megami Tensei games, play them, this game is inspired by the both of them and this game really does not carry their quality. This game is mediocre at best. It's not the worst, but it still does not deserve all the hype it gets.

Undertale is simply a garbage game, with a weak story, with at best semi-likable characters, and in total just okay music and bad graphics. I love pixel graphics, don't get me wrong. I love pixelation over 3 dimensional figures. [Insert Japanese porn joke here]. But the issue is that the graphics are dull, overly smooth in most areas, too bright and colorful, it hurts to look at this game sometimes. Undynes house is one of those too colorful ones, so is the lab [TOO MUCH YELLOW/LIGHT BLUE MIX.] Sometimes [for example sans secret room] it is just not that great or rewarding. Photoshop Flowey [or Omega Flowey] doesn't fit in, it sure is fun to battle him [more on the battles later] but his graphics are so badly put together [like real photoshops [this was a joke, laugh]] that it took away from the game. It was fine on its own but the graphics Flowey has here are so bad that it was not worth it anymore. The characters were tiring to deal with. Toriel is annoying and over caring [which i know is her character but like, I don't feel bad for killing her anymore]. Sans is annoying with his puns, Papyrus is also very annoying to read because of the **** way he talks, Undyne is meh, Alphys makes my head hurt when I talk to her, Mettaton [In all forms including Ex, Neo, Overworld] just no. Flowey is an awful villain, should have killed us one shot if they were trying. Asgore literally doesn't live long enough to like or hate him,

    So I should talk about the one good thing, the thing that makes it a 4.
    The battle system. That saves this game from a 0. I would just not be writing this review on this garbage game and hope it just ceases to exist soon except the battle system is genius. If you read/heard reviews of Undertale you will know this is the games strong point that most people love. It is easy yet difficult, creative, and just overall makes this game almost mediocre on its own. If you do plan on playing Undertale and you haven't yet, ignore the story and jump right into battle, it really is what makes the game actually somewhat worth while.

    Also this game gives to player illusion of non-linearity. All variability is just choosing to play as angelic pretty child or juvenile maniac. There are no challenging moral dilemmas, especially after you learned about the conditions for reaching the endings. This game is very linear.
    And yeah, graphics. Undertale's pixel-art is terrible even for Indie games. There are so many SNES games with beautiful pixel-art like Chrono Trigger or Tales of Phantasia. Just look at Hyper Light Drifter. This game is also created in Game Maker Studio and it have breathtaking visual art. And where's optimization? Why this game is run only on 4:3?
    Well, the game's music is the only thing, that makes this game good. I liked Asgore's theme much.
    This review if just my opinion. If you like the game, then I will not blame you. It's just an overhyped game with terrible fanbase of 14 year old schoolgirls.

    One of the most overrated games of its time. I didn't understand why it was loved then and I don't understand why it's loved now. Even if I have nothing else to do in life, it's not a game I'll spend time with. It might make a good animated movie, but it's not worth playing as a game.

    Gra jest średnio-słaba, muzyka jest największym atutem tej gry, lecz wiele kawałków brzmi zbyt znajomo (nie powiem, że to źle się wzorować dobrymi utworami, ale jak dla mnie zbyt mocno są wzorowane). Historia jest ... średnia (jeśli ktoś ma zamiar się kłócić, to dodam, że przeszedłem neuteralnie + true pacifist i szkoda mi czasu na genocide), bohaterowie również średni, mają trochę fajnych tekstów, ale ogólnie to więcej zażenowania niż śmiechu. Brak osiągnięć to też minus. Grafika jest w porządku, wzorowana na earthboundzie.
    Podsumowując, całkiem spoko gierka dla dzieciaka w wieku 7-12, starszemu odbiorcy raczej nie polecam, tak samo nie za cenę 10 €, maksymalnie 2.5 €.

    I WANT to like this game, I really do. I just don't. Nothing about the game held my interest after around 2 hours of playing it. This is one of those games that is trying to send a message, it's real nice and all but it doesn't make for a fun game. This game is absolutely not for everyone, myself included. I fell for the hype, now I need a refund.

    Hipsters blindly praise this title because it became a movement, a bandwagon, not because it's a legendary achievement. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME IF YOU'RE EXPECTING AN EPIC RPG EXPERIENCE. The weight of decisions in this game aren't as heavy as people would make you think.

    Im sorry, but I dont get it. I was so excited to play through this game, but was left widely disappointed. Going through this was a slog. Perhaps I didnt get the humor. Perhaps I didnt get the nuance of the story. Overall, this game didnt grab me.
