After 41 hours of play, one of the sidequests remains one of the most memorable and amazing questlines in any RPG I have played. (Bloody Baron questline)

    AND THAT WAS A SIDEQUEST

Don't waste time reading the ocean of 10/10 reviews, just go and play the game already.

I laughed, I cried, and I loved every moment. My first run was 68 hours and I felt like I only got through a portion of the content. This is one of the best games ever made, period.

Why, you may ask? First off, the writing. It is exceptional. There's one scene where I laughed for a solid 20 minutes. I would never have expected such consistent, witty, engaging dialogue from a game.

First off, the writing. It is exceptional. There's one scene where I laughed for a solid 20 minutes. I would never have expected such consistent, witty, engaging dialogue from a game.

Second, the sound design. Exceptional music and solid voice work throughout.

Third, the world, quest and monster design. In such a massive game, repetitive witcher contracts and dull quests could have easily been the norm...but there wasn't a single monster contract that wasn't different, and there wasn't a single quest without a new and engaging story! It is easy to get lost in this world. Completionists will likely go grey before coming close to the end.

Fourth, the art design. I played this game on medium settings, and everything was beautiful.

The game isn't perfect. The biggest weakness is clunky control programming. There are plenty of times when character control is less than fluid. But this is a minor annoyance in such a polished, riveting game world.

    An extraordinary game. Thank you!

If I had to say something negative it would be about the difficulty curve. The game starts out quite challenging but gets easier as you tend to outlevel the content and become a bit too powerful for my liking. I would have liked it more if I had to be more "on my toes". Even so, 10/10.

The Witcher 3, this game is a testament to how far games have come.

I actually feel sorry for any game that tries to do open world RPG after this. It's painfully obvious that CDPR has blown everyone out of the water. Here's why:

The game is open world, and has better graphics than most linear games, even DESPITE the graphics downgrade (which DID happen). The game looks and feels like a handcrafted world, the entire game world is beyond beautiful, like nothing I have ever seen before. I thought the witcher 2 was amazing, the witcher 2 was definitely great looking, but it did not have the scope that TW3 has. TW3 has a world that feels completely real and alive. That feeling of "copy pasted" areas is just not there.

The npcs. People will call out to you when you ride/walk by if they want your help, the faces in the witcher are many and varied. Even after doing nearly every quest I came across I never felt like I was talking to the same person with a different outfit. Everyone in the game already has their own thing to do, and their own agenda. Nobody is really just standing around waiting for YOU.

The story. This isn't something you want to play while barely paying attention. The time investment needed to finish this game is massive. I started my playthrough on the hardest difficulty, and it took me about 150 hours to beat the game, while skipping many contracts and a vast majority of markers on the maps. Whenever I sat down to play the game, I wanted to make sure I had no other distractions. This game takes work to beat, and it's largely due to the fact that I didn't want to miss a thing while I was playing, finding the time to commit to this game was not easy, but well worth it.

The game is not perfect. It suffers from the typical open world game issues (clipping, weird camera angles sometimes, a slightly misplaced object or two), for example I found a tree floating a few feet above the ground in the first area, however that was the ONLY example I found of that. Even with these little issues, as far as open world games go, nothing has the fidelity that I have witnessed in the Witcher 3.

The controls are a bit clunky, I felt as though the Witcher 2 was more responsive, but the Witcher 3's clunkyness appears to be the result of an attempt to make realistic movement/combat animations that flow together, not the result of bad controls. I have to say, once you get used to the pace of combat and the style of movement, I found myself enjoying the realistic style of responsiveness.

This is a story driven game, if you cannot get into the story you will probably not enjoy the game that much.

I feel like I have barely even touched the surface as to why this game is so good. I feel like I can't appropriately describe it.

I will say this though, that this is what gaming needs, a game that pushes the boundaries of what we've seen before. I can say with certainty that I have never seen a world so vast and believable, so alive and vibrant. I've never had a game make me feel so small and insignificant. Playing the witcher 3 was like having a second life for 5 months. There was so much going on in the world of the witcher 3, and I didn't even manage to see all of it.

As of right now, december of 2015, this game has no equal within the genre of open world RPG's. That is what I think.

I like that there's constantly options on how to resolve quests, similar to Fallout New Vegas. That's the best part about the game and the place where it excels beyond its peers. Beyond that, there's room for improvement. Namely in the inventory and combat. The inventory is needlessly complicated. I'm not a big fan of crafting/alchemy, or the silly card card in a game. That stuff doesn't appeal to me. It feels like an added bonus feature that doesn't add anything but makes everything actually want to do filled with spam items and NPCs. Would be nice if there was an option to turn it off.

Combat's not that great. Fight one person/thing is easy enough, but groups of enemies will gang up and cut you down quickly. There's no good way to handle it without resorting to cheap tactics yourself. The lock-on feature is useless as well. The controls are very squishy and imprecise. I've devolved into swearing at my character as he inexplicably turns to fight an enemy when he's supposed to be running away, or when he gets stuck on a fence. A big issue I have is how dark this game is. With my computer, monitor, and in game settings maxed out, I can see anything indoors. Google shows I'm not the only one with the issue. I often find myself navigating indoor areas by the mini-map and witcher sense because everything on screen is just black.

I hope they keep the decision making aspect of game intact (t would be a fallout 4-level travesty if they got rid of it) and work to improve the gameplay in future installments.

Its story writing is top notch (novel like; which is obviously one of the most important aspects about a long haul RPG) with a very engaging main plot with masterfully interwoven subplots that influence one another and respond to your choices and then affect the world around you. . The characters are excellently portrayed and voice acted and really feel alive which endears you to them ( first time since mass effect series that I cared about the characters fate). Without mentioning any spoilers there are many truly memorable bittersweet emotional moments in this game which play on your heart strings. Just like previous Witcher games there is a grey morality action and consequence system with later unexpected repercussions depending on your choices; this truly is an RPG that responds to your choices with 3 different playable epilogues with hundreds of sub variations for the ending meaning the replay ability value is vast.

The only story improvements I would have liked would have been the ability to meet in game characters at the end of the game (when is still open world and reverts back to a state prior to the final endgame finale) otherwise it feels emotionally empty. Also (if like me you enjoy emotional involvement in deep RPGs/movies) and depending on who you romance during the main plot, it would have been nice to have had a bit more closure at the end (a cut scene or two) otherwise it can feel a bit abrupt (just suggestions). Furthermore and I think this is a common complaint it would have been nice to have a bit more Triss in the game or at least felt like who romanced mattered more than it actually does from narrative point of view

The gameplay is fresh and engaging without being repetitive, the world is a truly MASSIVE open world (and not just large but bustling with detail and charm) that rewards exploration and questing (no repetitive fetch quests here), and the graphically options on the PC mend bendingly comprehensive and rewarding. Ultimately a masterpiece.

Lastly I continue to be impressed by the genuine conscientious approach to game development that a small company like CDPR has pioneered, towards fairness and quality in the industry. No money grabbing poor quality half finished product producing by massive corporations here but a really commendable attempt and developing at supplying a top notch product. THANKS CDPR!

It's one of those games you simply cannot put down. I found myself thinking about it way too much and itch to get back to playing it. Not many games do that these days, but this is definitely one of them.

Graphically, it looks absolutely astonishing. The environment, characters, textures, attention to detail, god, even the hair looks amazing. The weather and day/night effects are also top notch. You can truly get "lost" in a game world as lovingly crafted as this one.

The music is also very well done, it fits perfectly with the game and really helps to set the tone and emotional impact of certain events and areas. Truly, not enough praise is given to it, but trust me, it's really well done. Voice-overs are also a strong-point here. The characters (especially the "main" ones) are done extremely well and really help to immerse you in the world and form attachments with the characters.

The story and quests are also very well put together. Much less of the "go here, fetch this" crap that most RPG's use to pad out a game with content and much more involved and intriguing stories that mean just as much as the main quests in some cases. The addition of specific Witcher contracts, which allow you to go full on detective are also great fun. Some of these require a little research and preparation, rather than just running to a point on the map and button-mashing, giving them a surprisingly deep and complex vibe. There is also lots of content to keep you entertained - and as stated above, it's not just rubbish padding (I am looking at you, DAI).

At this point I am really struggling to find much wrong with the game. I suppose the only thing that is a little lacklustre is the combat - which can be great sometimes, or very frustrating at others. It could do with a little polishing given the amount of it in the game, but it is by no means a deal-breaker - and certainly an improvement over Witcher 2's. To be honest, it grows on you as well - being quite different to most RPG's I have played, but once you get used to it, suddenly it all seems to come together and work. So really, this is nitpicking. I found the keyboard and mouse controls difficult to get to grips with, but a few rebinds later and all was well (dodge key being bound to Alt by default was a personal bugbear). Also be sure to turn on "Hardware Mouse", or else the mouse never feels "right". Quite why it is defaulted to "off" to begin with, I don't understand.

The "Gwent" mini-game also never captured me (I just avoid it wherever possible). This is personal taste however, and a lot of people seem to really enjoy it. Never quite clicked with me though. Each to their own. Thankfully you can just skip these - including the "find them all" quest related to collecting every card in the game. So what we have here is an optional feature that some will love and play (no con to the game) and others will not like and skip (no con again), making this whole "issue" a non-issue.

Yep, that's it. I honestly cannot name anymore cons. Absolutely everything else about this game is good - better than good. So, all in-all, this could well be one of the best RPG's I have played in a long time. It is nothing short of a masterpiece. I don't give away 10/10 ratings often, but this game deserves it.

P.S. Team Yen, all the way.

yell at you, taking crossbow shots and bombs in the face...monsters sometimes just de engage you in the middle of battle, turning their backs on you and walking away, as they suddenly just couldnt be arsed about fighting the player.

The most disturbing thing for me is though the fact that I can just loot every **** house, even is the residents are standing right next to me! Wtf? It seems so easy to fix, and mind numbing that they left it the way they did. Theres other **** too, like bad npc pathfinding and loads of minor grahical bugs.

Everything else is **** brilliant. Gothic level character design, interesting quests, great graphics, excellent sound etc.

CD Projekt Red Outdone themselves. Sure, the game "suffered" from a graphic downgrade compared to the 2013 E3 footage but it was that or the game wouldn't be able to run on either PS4 nor One and on very little range of PCs, a bad for a good you might say. Other than that i highly recommend the game, to anyone in general. The game clearly set the standard for years to come on a lot ofCD Projekt Red Outdone themselves. The Game is very good looking on Ultra Setting PC, the general writting of the game is very good (main story aswell as secondary quests) supported by great voice acting and truly impressive & believable facial expressions. The combat and class system is as good as it could get from my opinion, with somme issues but nothing really bothering. The world is huge, and when i say huge, it's HUUUUUUGE (And absolutely no loading whatsoever except at dying, launching and moving from a continent to an other. Truly feels great + The loading are never longer than 5sec at worst 10sec if you got a good machine like me) . I'm at 130h of gameplay right now (on High difficulty & Main story finished) and must have done atleast 90% of the total game. And clearly, i'm in for another ride with a new game.
So go and grab the game already because it clearly deserves your money...

PS : Little +1 for the notre left inside the pre-order box at the attention of the player to say thanks for pre-ordering the game. Now watching Bethesda for that higly probable Fallout 4 or TES 6. Set the standard i said...

The Witcher 3 says no to all of this - it's a great game with a fully realized setting, it's a joy to play, the business model behind it treats its customers like human beings, and it delivers a story that finally hits the tone of the books.

Probably the best open-world RPG ever made, but it still falls prey to some of the genre's worst traps.

I've made it pretty clear that it's hardly a flawless game, but that doesn't change the fact that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is something pretty bloody special and you should absolutely play it.
