First I have to say that I am PC game veteran and RPG fan - playing games over 25 years now. So I have a lot to compare including previous 2 installments of the game. And I have to say - Witcher 3 is incredibly good. I am over 100 hours into it and I still did not get bored. Some key highlights:

    - The game is VAST. I mean really vast. And in a good way which means it is large and full of things to do. Exploring the world in Witcher 3 is very satisfying. You get to get not only new items and toys you see in other RPGs, but you can uncover new quests and become part of different and interesting stories.

    - The quests are very well construcited. Quests are structured and layered, some quests have multiple subqests. Sometimes finishing a quest will naturally lead to another one. There is a lot of twists and yoyu will be faced with meaningful choices that will make you think about your character and world he lives in. I also really like the witcher sense implementation, which gives the game a detective like feeling sometimes.

    - The world is very rich in characters and lore. If you are interested you can read books, and spend hours in bestiary/character descriptions.

    - The combat system is well thought off, abilities are fun to use and thanks to respec functionality you can try new things in the middle of the game (which is a good thing given you could have invested over 200 hours already. I have a little beef with character movement that feels a bit clunky, but it is easy to overcome.

Conclusion: if you are a PC you must buy this game. It is the best game I have played in a very long time. Although it is pricey it is worth every penny - there is enough content for you to experience for 10 anotherr games. Very well done CD Projekt Red.

Best rpg game ever. DA cannot even try to compete.
First of all - details. Game is so big, and yet - you are going to abandoned place? Path will be more overgrown and less visible. And its true for all - Witcher became highest standard for a game.

Quite possibly the most well crafted RPG ever made. In comparison to a game like Skyrim, which contains modular graphics (i.e. a world's assets are created and then the world is populated), everything about this game feels detailed and individually drawn/designed. The amount of work that went into it must be astounding. The voice acting is top notch and even the side quests feel important. Basically, this game appears to me to be the seamless blending of both Open World RPGs and streamlined story based RPGs, where the result gives you a completely open world RPG that has enough story elements for the game to feel full and un-hollow. The game gets a 10 for how much enjoyment I got out of it.

The world is open and vast and cd projekt red, filled it with interesting characters, backstories and combat that actually made me want to delve deeper into the world. This to me is a huge plus as most open world sandboxes create massive worlds and fill it with generic content (Dragon Age Inquisition being the prime offender here).

High level complaints I have: it has far too big maps, too many side quests, too many ? points to discover (which you don't need, except to get them of your map) and too much loot.

The crafting and alchemy system (and inventory) is tedisome and largely pointless. Potions can be very useful, but you only have to make each one once, after that, you no longer need hundreds of gathered ingredients. Same in crafting: The only thing you want to craft is the one set of witcher gear you like.

And finally, the ending ... do yourself a favor and read a guide, when handling Ciri, otherwise you are likely in for a disappointment after ~200 hours of playtime. This they badly screwed up, giving very minor decisions an incomprehensible nasty impact. Maybe to force you into a new game+?

Baseline, if you can relate to the universe in any way, play this! It has a lot more quantity, and a little less quality then the previous installations. Maybe wait a bit for the final bug fixing, and some good game play altering mods, which are already popping up.

Overrated is a good word for it. Advertising your product is important in this day and age, you need to promote, you need to make sure people know of you and what you've produced. That being said when marketing is employed to fabricate value when its job should be to simply promote an already valuable product, then you should know something is not right. I only hope the developer doesnt do the same thing to Cyberpunk 2077, it would be a shame. Expand

The story has its highs and lows with some parts being really interesting and some parts really boring. The length was a bit too long. The huge world felt really alive and was really beautiful. It's actually so big, in some parts there is nothing to do but to explore the nature. The gameplay however, was a unsatisfying. The combat is solid and rewarding but controlling Geralt himself was sometimes really painful. The Witcher 3 has done it to, By telling an amazing story, that adjusts subtly around the slightest decisions you make. They made a game that is both beautiful, deep and amazingly fun. They made an RPG with side quests so interesting you sometimes forget about the main mission, with characters so well written, you can't help but get invested. The game is fantastic, addictive, and will appeal to all gamers, casual, hardcore and fledgling.

But it has one drawback. one fault that, really is a result of overachieving. This game is so good, I was forced to buy over $3000 in Hardware upgrades, just to see its beauty in full swing. But even with that upgrade, including a brand new Titan X, I can still not play the game in Ultra. Its just to much win for even my beastly system.

It will create a hurdle for many players, but will also ensure the game competes with titles in a couple of years time.

I will continue to play joyfully, while I save for a second Titan... I just have to see what it looks like 1 setting up!

Since I'm giving this game a ten, I'm going to start with the bad. Yes, this game does have it's fair share of problems. This is going to be a detailed review so feel free to skip to the parts you are most interested in.

    graphics 8/10
First of all, CD Projekt has put out yet another game with very beautiful yet very inefficient graphics. I don't want to get into specifics but the framerates on every machine I've seen it run - are incredibly inconsistent. Even on my gtx 960 there are places I simply can't go without having to tolerate sub 30fps, and the gorgeous weather effects are sometimes outweighed by the wild fps drops that come with them. The one thing I can't excuse is the lack of the ability to change the lighting quality. That said, the graphics are incredibly gorgeous when everything clicks and most impressive of all is the seamless transitions between day/night/rain/indoors/outdoors/etc. The detail put into every model, the limitless jaw-dropping vistas and great facial animations all serve to quickly enthrall you in the universe.

    UI 3/10
Not going to dwell on this. The UI is total **** The map doesn't let you zoom out nearly enough; there are no arrows on the world map pointing to the objective; inventory gets cluttered quickly and gives you zero tools to sort/filter/search. The most unforgivable sin is putting all 200-300 of your crafting diagrams in a single, verticle line with no search bar and no filters. It doesn't even have to decency to filter out digrams that the artisan can't craft. "Happy scrolling mother****er" -CD Projekt

    Lore 10/10
I'm going to lump sound, backstory, main plot, and presentation all into this one. At no point in this game does the music fail in its ability to immerse you into whatever it is your doing - whether its exploring, fighting, or just playing gwent. The writing is consistent with the previous games boundless cynicism and sarcastic wit. It can be very annoying sometimes, but for the most part it carries a very solemn tone and an uncensored look at the devastation of conflict. The voice acting is moving, and the game always finds a way to hit you with remorse in whatever it is you're doing. Moral issues in the game are very grey, sometimes too grey; but never fail to leave you with emotions afterwards - and often emotions you don't want. In terms of the experience, it's unrivaled by any game of this generation. Lore in general is rich and consistent, and not overly pushy about reading the countless pages and manuscripts found throughout the journey.

    Gameplay 10/10
Gameplay is the classic area the Witcher series falls flat on it's face. This is the first Witcher game who's combat isn't held back by dated design and an outright bad overall vision. The signs have been much improved so that they all feel useful, and the monsters are dynamic that you aren't forced to use a single repetetive process. Bosses are no longer a matter of simply dying repeatedly until you've memorized all the one-hit-kill animations (Finally). Potions can be taken in combat which rewards players for thinking on their feet rather than simply punishing them for not expecting to be jumped a certain enemy. Yet with the new streamlining to combat, the game still rewards you for being prepared and still rewards you for knowing your enemy. The balance between the two is spot on, and it's both immersive AND fun. While the game does sometimes feel a little over-dependent on enemies stun-locking you, the best experiences this game has to offer are the times when you encounter a new monster. Every monster (and there are MANY) has some unique surprise that makes the first encounter something special. Frankly, the best enemy design I have ever seen. Ever. Character progression is also incredibly rewarding. Items feel unique and powerful, lots of appearances, and skills to facilitate many different playstyles. Gwent is the best minigame ever, as opposed to dice poker which was arguably the worst minigame ever. The world is big, fun to explore, and full of unique places to go. Pacing is brilliant. Shopping also is very immersive as most visits are a relatively even exchange as opposed to just pawning hordes of loot like most other rpg's.

Last note - bugs are uncommon for a game this size.

Overall, the game is more than the sum of it's parts. The experience of playing the game is on the level of a masterpiece and it's problems don't detract enough from it to make me feel any differently. It's hard to describe in words what playing this game is like. All I know is that every session -even over a hundred hours in - makes me walk away feeling like I have a story to tell my friends.

I would go and make sure everything was done so I wouldn't be disturbed, come back with coffee in hand and just enjoy the ride.

The game took 100 hours for me to finish, and I still had a full quest log. By that point though i was ready to see the story through. The choices I made in the game I felt were true to Geralt and though I had one of the bittersweet endings, it feels authentic -- I got what I deserved :). I am also particularly happy I played it on the second hardest setting - got to explore the deep combat as well.

Now that it is all over I feel a little sad. The same type of feeling I've always had when I finished reading a fantastic epic. So now I'm going to get the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, and I can't wait.

This is the first time (since Planescape) that I've felt so engrossed in a video game, and cared about its characters, dreamt about them, and want to talk to everyone about the experience. This is proof that the video game medium can be used to tell the kind of emotive and epic stories we grew up with! The future is bright!

Skyrim is not quite as good because it's far more randomized but still there is enough to to and a chance to find something unique and useful.
In the Witcher 3.. you can get lucky and find a unique schematic for a cool weapon and if you are luckier you are actually carrying around the right nonsense (steel, dark steel, shiny silver.. there is a LOT of different stuff to carry around) to have it made by a smith and you may even be very lucky and it is exactly for your Level.
You will still sell it three Levels later and use some random weapon you found for the new Level because it makes more damage.

Potions are even more horrible. If you want to create a Potions that make hour toenails grow really fast so you can scratch the feet of your enemies for added damage if you are wearing no boots, this is the game for you! (I don't know if this particular potion is actually in the game but it might as well judging from the deceptions could bring myself to read)

The story is not as interesting as all the 9+ people claim, perhaps they never had the fortune of reading a good fantasy novel, there aren't many I know. But it's not bad either. Why shouldn't this Geralt dude look for his long lost foster child that is being hunted by these extremely dangerous other dudes? And why shouldn't he solve all those problems everybody has while doing so?
And mind you, nobody else can do **** in this game. The peasants are completely useless for anything (except killing Geralt two games ago.. yeah right!) and the soldiers always have a reason why they can't do something right now. And so our mighty hero has to kill every monster on the planet and save every cat ... and only gets to rest during the long and mostly boring cutscenes.

Most of the game I didn't mention is not completely bad. The controls are wonky, but you can get used to them. It's just so sad the designers didn't play Skyrim or any Fallout game and thought.. "hey.. there are things here that are really fun.. and stupid in our game". And given they still sell the nvidia givaway versions for like 20 bucks on ebay.. just go buy it. It may help you waste your time until Fallout 4 comes.

But DO NOT buy it for 50+ bucks or whatever the steam loonies sell it for and if you believe you have bought the RPG of the century and rate it 9+ you need to visit a doctor.

This is the result of very talented people making a game THEY want to make instead of spreadsheets ticking one box after another trying to sort of appeal to as many people as possible while being politically correct. Excellent production value and post release support. Incredibly fascinating world that can be the whole range from gritty to delightful. A game for grown ups that deals with social issues that are as old as humanity itself. Very fun and challenging combat system that rewards skill and tactics rather then relying on talent trees and ability-spamming. The quest design is incredible for a game of this size. Every quest uses a plethora of mechanics to enrich the gameplay. Qustioning witnesses and examing places of beast attacks to pick up its scent and preparing for the battle does not get old. Investigating detective first, then monster slayer!
But the best thing about the game is the game takes it's time to tell every single little episode of main and side story in beautiful detail.

It has been a while since I last played a game of this intricacy. From the story to the gameplay, to the lore. Everything is nuanced in such a way that you simply can't help but be enticed. It works off of the lore set by Andrzej Sapkowski, from whose work the trilogy was based on, although non-canon, the game compliments the book series perfectly.

This is certainly one for the books. A game that will assuredly be looked back as 'genre defining', and its developers cannot be praised enough for the phenomenal work they have done here. It's simply one of the best games ever made.

Just when you think you're in a bit of a grind loop the story picks you up and lifts you out of it. Brilliant script and voice acting. A herbalist that says in a slow drawl "So would you like to see my stash" and there are heaps of random moments like this - you need to spend time with this game. About 100 hours in I thought I had the pace of the game nailed and was starting to get a bit bored, then it changed, dramatically. That's as close to a good movie experience as I can think of, except that it's not a movie and every choice matters.

There are a heap of hero games out there, and to some extent this falls into that genre. But the story is one that is subtle and complex. It's one you can talk to your partner about (cautiously), because it has depth. It made me laugh and occasionally a tear was shed. I can't tell you another game that had that effect.

I think this is the game by which all other RPG's should be measured. I am still stunned by what an independent studio has achieved. Go CD PROJECT RED!!!

If you are remotely interested in role playing type pc games, buy this, play this and then use it as the standard by which all others should be judged.

I have played most of the big-ticket RPG games in the past few years and this is one without equal. I want CDPR to make more, I want to know what Geralt does next, but the series is over with this one. Don't miss it.

    Trust me on this.

    - The controls are AWFUL. Delayed actions and very twitchy movement makes it very frustrating to handle even simple enemies.
    - No way to aim with a crossbow without auto-target? I might have missed some guide on YouTube or something, but the game certainly doesnt make it intuitive to aim with a crossbow like in Skyrim for example.
    - Grouping up enemies. Not sure what this adds to the experience. I prefer fighting one bear, instead of a pack. And with the very sub-par controls, always fighting several enemies at the same time becomes very frustrating and more difficult than it should be.

    - Actually interesting and diverse side quests
    - Decisions often have real consequences, and they are almost never just black and white
    - Very adultlike, not shying away from themes like sex, war crimes and racism
    - All in all, the world feels really GoT-esque at times
    - Immensely rich content-wise, my first playthrough took 90 hours and I still had huge amounts of places to explore and quests to complete after that
    - Amazing soundtrack that fits perfectly into the game's world and its events
    - Bestiary and character list come in handy when trying to keep track of all the different creatures and people you meet in the game
    - Enemy variety is great and combat feels intuitive without being too simple...

    Cons:
    - ...But it doesn't feel as responsive as I think it should and can definitely take some getting used to
    - Battle preparations (potions, oils etc.) are quite useless unless playing on higher difficulties
    - Skill tree can feel a bit limiting and some of the skills are just pointless percentage stuff
    - Occasional bugs and glitches, although a lot of them have been patched already
    - Newcomers to the franchise can feel a bit confused by everything at first, albeit playing the previous Witcher games is not necessary to understand what's going on in this game
    - Can be a bit slow to get into, as is the case with most RPGs I've played

Traveling on the horse is just frustrating with it's constant detours in the wrong direction and stopping because it's hit a blade of grass too high (and I'm using patch 1.07 which was supposed to improve the horse).

The repetitive dialogue drives me nuts, it's like the people in a village have a few lines of dialogue that is repeated over and over every time you walk past. People walk into you while you're standing still and shout that you've hurt them. The combat is boring and unrefined compared to the prequels, you just cast your favourite sign then dodge/parry and then counterstrike most enemies.

Such a shame because the story, voice acting, graphics and the attention to certain details in the game could have made this a classic.

Add to that an awkward and insufficient introduction to mechanics and an expectancy that the player spends time to collect ingredients, the locations of which are unstated, and create oils and potions in preparation for each major battle, the occurrences and details of which are often unknowable beforehand. They have delivered a beautiful and content-rich game to explore and a thrilling story to experience. In a rare move there is also DLC both large and small being offered free of charge down the line. It is obvious CD Projekt Red is comprised of gamers making games that they themselves would love and they deserve all the support we can muster. Do the industry a favour and vote with your wallet. Show the corporate fat cats that honesty and integrity are profitable commodities, and that games as an experience are supposed to transcend petty commercialism.

So .. to be reall graphics are almost perfect .. they are not as high as promissed on earlyer trainer but then they are soo close that you dont realy feel a differents .. the game is still as beutiful as in all those trailers.

Audio: ohh man some of that music gave me just the chill .. no joke its a master pice in the withcer universe of music.

story: storry can be stressing .. you try to save the world but are affraid to forget anny side quest .. and thats true nær the last 6-10 hours of gameplay you get a warning that this is you last chance to fix thinks do you wanna proceed ? well all side quest that efect the outcome of the story will after this point be removed if you dont have taken them and here is the issue have i done all? it turnd out in the end that i have forgoten one pretty inportant quest that greatly affected the outcome on a part of the end story to the negative ) i tried to make shure that my story outcome would be the best .. shure the rest was a good ending but not that one quest. so its har somthimes to find all quest even tho they try to tell you about all available quest . this is well my most negative point of the game ..in the end i still sit left with what a great game it was and now i wait for the expansion

This game is a complete masterpiece. An unmissable blend of excellent storytelling, gameplay, humour, and graphics. All of this would be incredible in a standard 15 hour game, but the massive open world and engaging secondary quests mean this game can give you 100 hours of gameplay without breaking sweat. Can't recommend enough.

Witcher 3 wreaks of passion. There are potentially hundreds of hours here with content still coming. And again, as I said for Witcher 2 (so far) the content is free! Combat is actually tighter and more dialed in than the last episode with even more options. But what's more important is the story was paced perfectly, largely because I could go at my own pace and the resolution was excellent because I largely chose what would happen. There is some much to praise, I'll run out of room if I continue. Since most people aren't reading past the green number and first few sentences I'll simply say I couldn't ask for anything more in a game. Now CD Red, please give me more! Expand

It has been a long time since I played a game that was this good. I'm not saying the game was perfect, but it was a lot of fun. I'm not too familiar with the first two games, so I don't know the whole story, but I really liked the ending. Some little things could have been a little more polished, but as it is the game is quite impressive.

It does have a few flaws:
    - They stated that there wouldn't be any exclusives, but instead they gave the xbox a vastly superior collector's edition with exclusive items for the same price.

I cannot believe how amazing this game is. My brother was nagging me and nagging me and nagging me about playing this game telling me I just had to buy it...so I bought it and entered this blind. I knew nothing about what The Witcher was or what to expect.

Needless to say, I was blown away. The game is stunningly beautiful. The optimization is actually SUPERB (35-50fps at 1440p is amazing on GTX970). The world is immersive like I've never seen before. The only thing I think I might do is remove the depth of field. The 'haze' in the distance when the camera pans out is not so cool. In fact, the detail of things up close is better.

The combat can be a bit clunky at times on PC. My style of play seems to be roll-attack-roll-attack-roll-attack. To each their own...there's a lot of room for messing around with style of play. It can be a bit challenging at times because your enemies hit hard, but it does add to the sense of realism. You might be powerful, but even with armor you're still a bit fragile.

The open-world is also very impressive. Yes, most of it is rather bare, but that's to be expected in a real world. A lot of the time you'll stumble across a creature that is just too strong. Or you'll encounter a bandit camp or some other interesting place. The world is indeed packed with content, and you get to enjoy beautiful scenery getting there.

What impressed me most though, even more than the graphics and the gameplay, is the character depth. There are a few voice actors that get re-used, but not only are almost all the characters totally different, but they have their own personalities and a certain depth. You're really not going to see many stock characters. All of them have motives and attitudes. The dialogue is varied and your choices do matter.

The plot of the main quest and even each of the side quests is very interesting. At times I'm like...'okay, I KNOW what's going to happen. This is obvious', but that's mostly the writer inside me. There were a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

Overall I have to say that this has been an RPG that has engaged and engrossed me at every turn. The sheer scale of the game and the world is just incredible. I am not a god among the denizens of the world, but rather a piece of the puzzle, a cog in the machine. It's been quite an experience.

Without a doubt, this is the best game I've ever played.

The Witcher 3 is one of those games that I check the news for the latest patches at work and buy the guide books (just to own). I save everything before a cut scene, just so I can watch it over or try a different conversation path to see something different. It's that good.

The game does have some flaws, hence why I didn't give it a perfect 10. The same character skins are used too frequently throughout the game losing your immersion in the game. Controls are somewhat messy (you will get used to them). Inventory (which I know they are patching) is currently a hassle. These issues, as well as glitches that hinder you from completing quests do not detract from the overall joy that is The Witcher.

Having played the two previous installments, and enjoying them both, the Witcher 3; however, is in a class all buy itself.

Buy, Play, Enjoy - you will not be disappointed.

While heavily padded with sword fighting mini-games and lengthy cutscenes (that required a bowl of popcorn), this is an excellent CCG that will keep you glued to your screen. While building your Gwent collection, you will visit two very large open world maps (that could have been their own game if handled by a different dev), two smaller open world maps, and multiple unique locations on your quest for a better deck. The only real disappointment is that the Monster deck takes a very long time to find cards for and by the time you have a playable deck, all your other decks are significantly more powerful. Regardless, Gwent is an excellent CCG that requires a lot of forethought, mind games, meta strategy, and a bit of luck.

...Outside of Gwent, the actual story is excellent for an open world game but I found it lacking compared to the previous two games. The story line is especially weak during the full length of Novigrad, which I felt was padded by the undercity politics and a mountain of sidequests of wildly varying level requirements. It didn't help that about half of that part of the main quest involved pulling Dandelion's butt out of the fire again either. Ciri's playable parts do an excellent job of breaking up the occasional tedium and help provide a perspective of the game's events from the other side. Your actions and choices also have major consequences on the story, often more impactful than you expect. From big to small, Geralt changes individuals lives and shapes the course of history with his political choices. Many times throughout the game I found myself going through side quests (even though I didn't need the rewards) just to find out what would happen.

TW3 is also the "Witcher-est" of the three games. This game really shines when you are just doing random monster hunting quests, following tracks and discovering clues about a monster's whereabouts, or looking for the hideout of a gang of thugs. Geralt narrates his observations and helps push the gameplay forward with his thoughts on events and locations. The character build options also provide a lot of variety; this is the first Witcher game where I found myself unable to easily settle on a build. I respecced at least ten times during the course of the game, switching between melee, signs, alchemy, and all sorts of halfway builds in-between.

Despite "downgrade" claims, The Witcher 3 is a gigantic, beautiful world to explore that pushes modern consumer PC technology to the limit. The story line is the best I have experienced in an open world game and deserves to be played through at least twice to experience different effects your actions have on the story. From the cast of colorful characters to the caves full of loot, everything feels handcrafted and lovingly made. This is one of the best RPGs I have played in a very long time (with actual roleplaying elements too!) and I can safely recommend it to anyone looking for a mature adventure through a gritty and immersive world.

I can understand, that many people got used to broken and bugged games so much, that they are willing to push out a 10 for a game, which has several problems in both technical and design.
I'm not going into what the Witcher 3 is about, or how you progress in the game. You can read 99% of the reviewers describing of what this game is.
Instead, I point out obvious and not so obvious issues.
Let's start with the menu system. While it's not the worst, neither great. For example, if you enter the inventory (key: i), it takes 2 steps to get out. The Witcher's inventory is also quite disorganized. Your weapons and armor plus potions are lumped into one screen, while other items you collect are under other tabs. Looking at the items you pick up, is confusing and that little yellow star indicating the newest item is barely visible or completely invisible if the item is yellow. Most of the time it's hard to make out what exactly I picked up, especially looking at the herbs and miscellaneous items, because the icon is small and after a few hours, your inventory fills up to a point, where you loose track of what you have or what you should do with.
Trying to pursue to make one specific sword, armor or potion could be frustrating and tedious, so best advice is to pick up everything. I mean everything, even a rotten piece of meat or a broken fishing rod. You are going to spend a good amount of time of picking up everything that is pickable. If you thought Dragon Age: I was bad with herb picking, you ain't seen nothing yet, until you play this game.
Actually the title should have been Witcher 3 : Public Waste Management.
Another issue has to be the money system. You are not going to have a lot of money throughout the game. You are going to spend it on repairing your sword and armor after every 10 enemy you fight. At boss fights, your equipment will brake and your potions will run out. Sound challenging - yes, but plan to visit a black smith in about every 20 minutes and spend enormous amount of money on repairs. You found a unique sword and armor? You may consider finding another one, instead of repairing it. Kinda makes the rune stones almost useless and equipment with sockets for them.
    Potions.Equipment
I have 2 different potions i can use during traveling or combat, but I can switch them out, if I access my inventory, which as I said, involves hopping through 3 different screens.
Why not just let me equip at least 10 of them? I got 10 numbered keys on my keyboard. Why the redundancy and the immersion braking by navigating through menus while in combat?
    Combat:
Maybe it's only me, but blocking is almost useless. Most people will not block, because it can cause plenty of damage anyway, or stagger. I mean my level 12 witcher staggers from a level 1 bandit. So why should I even bother blocking, if I can just roll around? So they made the blocking another useless function, and with it, the whole parrying and counter attack options as well. Now, my old and experienced witcher relies on rolling around the ground left and right and its sword skills consist just a little more than whirlwind cuts and then roll. Spin around again with the sword, roll away quick.
I'm not sure what happened, because blocking/parrying/countering worked quite well in Witcher 2. They just dumped the whole thing, or is it bugged?
I also noticed, that even if the enemy doesn't hit towards me, the hit still counts? For example, a wolf was biting towards me, so I side stepped. It bit into the air, but apparently I lost health, like it bit me directly.
So now, I don't side step. I only roll and stab. Stab, stab roll. Roll roll stab. Rinse and repeat, if I want to live and win.
    Bugged or a design feature?
    Bugs and glitches.
This may be temporary, but they still exist.
    1. On shores, if I get off the horse, sometimes Geralt starts swimming in an ankle deep water. Kinda funny, but if you got enemies around, you are dead.
    2. Re-loading a quick save can have various effects. For example, you can can't open the same chest or various items missing from the ground. You use your witcher senses, but the items that were highlighted before are gone. Or the chest won't highlight anymore.
Or you can't complete a mission, because the mission specific item is gone. I couldn't free a jailed person, because the key disappeared upon re-loading the game.
    3.
    Bugged, stucked animations, clipping issues.
There are certain lootable boxes, that can't be looted, because it's under other items and the "loot" text doesn't appear, no matter how you turn towards it.
Geralt puts away the sword if it fights an enemy, which can disappear and re-appear. Like a wraith or a ghost. This can be a pain in the butt, because that one second could cost your life.
I'm out of space, there are more Collapse

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the best game of 2015, so far. Witcher 3 offers everything you could want from an RPG - in-depth character development in the main story, dozens of side quests and treasure hunts to distract you, and a satisfying combat system, particularly on the harder difficulties (which I recommend you play the game on Hard, at the least).

In terms of the main story line and side questing, you'll find yourself addicted to discovering the fate's of individuals and whole communities. A decision you make on any quest may have minor, or major, implications further down the road. For example, you may come across a criminal chained next to a river as punishment for his crimes, awaiting an inevitable pack of Drowners to tear him to fleshy pieces - you let him live, he gives you a reward later in the game. You leave him be and you may rediscover his body torn to bits later on. Or, a person you assist in a quest may end up helping them become ruler of an entire people.

The only negative part of the questing is a complaint you may hear from many - over-leveling. Spending time on too many side quests and adventures may cause you to be too high of a level for the main quests, meaning you'll end up receiving no XP for completing them. Or, focusing too much on the main quests may end up making some side quests no longer worth any XP. You can track quest levels, but, I found there were a handful of quests I just found too late or was never able to get around to.

I won't go into too much detail on the combat, but overall, it was high risk, high reward and a lot of fun. Failing to prepare for a fight wouldn't necessarily mean certain death, but, it could mean a fight ends up being much more challenging than you wanted it to be. However, because of a relatively poor sorting system in the inventory, I found myself rarely using any potions that would help my character in combat, purely because I didn't want to look through the 30 potions I'd made to find the one I needed. You may hear some people say these potions are necessary on higher difficulties, but, I never found this to be the case after level 10-15. I also find it mostly a nuisance to have to pull up the inventory to apply one of about 12 blade oils to my blade, which would provide a marked improvement to my damage output depending on the enemy. I opened menus in this game more than I ever have for any other game. Ever.

But, none of these issues dock the game too much in my opinion. Some people may like the intricate fighting preparation - I find it only enjoyable to a degree. But, the emotion, dangerous situations and storytelling prowess of the game makes it a worthwhile purchase for anyone. I put in about 184 hours completing about 90 percent of the side quests, finding a majority of the hidden treasures and the whole main story.

Where to begin. I can't give any more good words than have already been written about the game I'm sure, but the story-line.... Literally it alone is worth a play through this game. NEVER have I played an RPG and so willingly done side-quests, and actually become slightly melancholy for not completing the whole thing (if for some reason I failed some part of it).

This game has a great travel system (absolutely necessary for such a vast world RPG game like this). The regular travel is pretty well designed, and the game is HUGE. However, I have noticed that despite it's tremendous amount of content, the quality of it does not suffer. In fact, some of the most enjoyable content, is not even in the main questline.

I would highly recommend this game, as I have been playing it on and off for weeks, but the craving to play the game has yet to cease. Excellent game.

Witcher 3 is most likely the best game of 2015 with detailed dialogues, excellent voice acting, and stunning graphics. The combat has also improved a lot since Witcher 2. Each choice you make in a quest (both primary and secondary) effect the rest of the game.

I just finished the game, and I must say, it was not only the best RPG I've ever played, but the best game overall I've ever seen. It has a massive open world, with stunning visuals, an amazing soundtrack and interesting soundtrack. There are really just two words that describe this game with respect: Beautiful and masterpiece

the game itself is fantastic. the graphics look wonderful and the story goes well. but the combat system feels floaty and sometimes it pisses me off. it's almost impossible to counter non human enemies and even if you push the dodge button sometimes the enemies will hit you anyway. especially those teleporting dudes.

I am not a fan of the Witcher series, I tried to play the the first game along time ago and I thought it was old and boring and the 2nd one kept crashing all the time.. The only reason I even bothered to play the 3rd one was because I played the first 2 hrs on my friends Xbox. Even if you don't really play RPGs or know much about the Witcher series you should consider buying this game. The story and presentation are 10/10. Their use of every cinematic tool in the story tellers arsenal is excellent. I don't really care for stories in video games as gameplay is the most important feature of a game for me, but the Witcher 3 story is told so well that the gameplay could get 5/10 and it would still be worth playing. Fortunately the gameplay is 8/10, well enough executed to not get in the way but overall nothing groundbreaking with many missed opportunities.

The combat can be a bit repetitive as the attack patterns of all the enemies lack diversity. Even on the hardest difficulty the game becomes easy as the XP curve is poorly balanced along with the potions, spells (signs), and leveling system. There is already one mod that tries to balance the game better but I haven't had the time to try it out yet. If you're looking for a hardcore experience you should anticipate having to download mods because the vanilla game won't give it to you.

Any weaknesses in the gameplay are made up for with all the other strengths of the game. The visuals are stunning and diverse. One second you might be galloping through a grassy open field and the next you will be trudging through a gassy swamp as thunder clatters overhead. Every enemy class you encounter looks different and unique. The overall world design is rather remarkable making it possibly the best designed video game world to date.

With regards to performance, the 1.07 patch is running flawlessly on ULTRA @ 40-50 fps GTX 970. CDPR is obviously very committed to the PC release and I expect the game in 1-2 years will have many new features and tons of new content that will likely be free.

Witcher 3 is the continuation of the story for the Witcher series. You do not necessarily have to have played the first and second game to understand the story in Witcher 3; however it is recommended you have. Options are provided to allow dedicated fans to import their saved game data and new gamers to the series can use the defaulted world saves.

Witcher 3 is overall an excellent game and deserves many praises. High graphical fidelity (although lesser than what was displayed at E3), deep and meaningful storyline, great combat system, memorable characters and more. CD Projekt RED should pat themselves on the back for providing DLC's for free. Yes, you hear right; the DLC's we get are free and I am not talking about one or two DLC's. Thus far, they have released 14 free DLC's. CD Projekt RED sets an examine of how the gaming industry should be behaving when it comes to downloadable content.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story is good as always in Witcher series games. It was always a reason to play this game and it was a reason why I play such kind of RPG - the one you cant's create customized character to play. The Witcher is, was and will be the ONLY exception for me. But it doesn't mean it doesn't frustrate me. As I said, the story is good, I even decided to read the books at last. But that's all. Technically the game is awful. **** performance, no optimization at all, clones everywhere, bugs and unresponsive controls. Ok, I can live with all that, I finished the game after all. But no RPG is what kills it. Primitive skill and upgrades system that doesn't feel rewarding. But the worst thing is forced actions, decisions, story. The first sign that should have convinced me not to trust any illusion of choice was as far as in the beginning of Witcher 2, where I found Geralt in one bed with Triss despite ignoring her in the first game. Ok, I thought I'll just ignore it further and everything will be fixed. Nope. In Witcher 3 Geralt was immediately accused of cheating Yen with Triss. What a joke. And Triss even behaves as I didn't say her to **** off in the second game. Then we don't even have an option to romance Ciri. Why? Because Geralt "feels like her father". What a nonsense, this game calls itself an RPG, there shouldn't be any "Geralt feels", but only what player feels and chooses! Nope, the story rails are still stronger than you, like in some low-budget shooter. There are actually choices that affect ending, but other than that, throughout this huge game you can only affect minor insignificant outcomes. For example, you can't prevent Vesemir's death no matter how many allies you gather. The results are always the same. I could go on and on. But that's enough, too many PR and fanboys around this game for people to be rational. I finished it and I don't feel like I've wasted my time, but I'm still disappointed. Expand

The Witcher 3 says no to all of this - it's a great game with a fully realized setting, it's a joy to play, the business model behind it treats its customers like human beings, and it delivers a story that finally hits the tone of the books.

I've made it pretty clear that it's hardly a flawless game, but that doesn't change the fact that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is something pretty bloody special and you should absolutely play it.
