I've never played any Witcher games before, but as soon as I've started playing this one i immediately fall in love with it. Definitely a 10/10 game for me.

Everything has been said about this game already. This is by far one of the most accomplished RPG I can remember. From the grafix, sounds, music, characters, fights etc, everything is amazing.

The worst part of this game is actually finishing it. It will cause post-game depression looking for something else to play that feels as good.

    Really great game.
The story, the characters and the world are really intriguing so far. And I have to admit that that doesn't happen very often for me. The amount of content is staggering. The women in the story are strong, beautiful and actually look like women unlike (insert game here). The soundtrack perfectly fits the atmosphere. And I really love the fact that it doesn't shy away

However the game was severely downgraded and some assets don't look impressive at all (water and vegetation for example). Also to me movement controls feel very unnatural (Swimming for instance is a challenge).

I've completed the main game in 26 hours (rerun at 75hr and counting) and this is the first RPG I've ever immediately replayed, from the beginning straight after finishing. Its content is that great.

I've completed the main game in 26 hours (rerun at 75hr and counting) and this is the first RPG I've ever immediately replayed, from the beginning straight after finishing. Its content is that great.

Its story writing is top notch (novel like; which is obviously one of the most important aspects about a long haul RPG) with a very engaging main plot with masterfully interwoven subplots that influence one another and respond to your choices and then affect the world around you. . The characters are excellently portrayed and voice acted and really feel alive which endears you to them ( first time since mass effect series that I cared about the characters fate). Without mentioning any spoilers there are many truly memorable bittersweet emotional moments in this game which play on your heart strings. Just like previous Witcher games there is a grey morality action and consequence system with later unexpected repercussions depending on your choices; this truly is an RPG that responds to your choices with 3 different playable epilogues with hundreds of sub variations for the ending meaning the replay ability value is vast.

The only story improvements I would have liked would have been the ability to meet in game characters at the end of the game (when is still open world and reverts back to a state prior to the final endgame finale) otherwise it feels emotionally empty. Also (if like me you enjoy emotional involvement in deep RPGs/movies) and depending on who you romance during the main plot, it would have been nice to have had a bit more closure at the end (a cut scene or two) otherwise it can feel a bit abrupt (just suggestions). Furthermore and I think this is a common complaint it would have been nice to have a bit more Triss in the game or at least felt like who romanced mattered more than it actually does from narrative point of view

The gameplay is fresh and engaging without being repetitive, the world is a truly MASSIVE open world (and not just large but bustling with detail and charm) that rewards exploration and questing (no repetitive fetch quests here), and the graphically options on the PC mend bendingly comprehensive and rewarding. Ultimately a masterpiece.

Lastly I continue to be impressed by the genuine conscientious approach to game development that a small company like CDPR has pioneered, towards fairness and quality in the industry. No money grabbing poor quality half finished product producing by massive corporations here but a really commendable attempt and developing at supplying a top notch product. THANKS CDPR!

You know a game is good when it has you hooked after only 30 minutes of game-time. This game did that to me. Yes, it really is as good as everyone claims. It's one of those games you simply cannot put down. I found myself thinking about it way too much and itch to get back to playing it. You know a game is good when it has you hooked after only 30 minutes of game-time. This game did that to me. Yes, it really is as good as everyone claims. It's one of those games you simply cannot put down. I found myself thinking about it way too much and itch to get back to playing it. Not many games do that these days, but this is definitely one of them.

Graphically, it looks absolutely astonishing. The environment, characters, textures, attention to detail, god, even the hair looks amazing. The weather and day/night effects are also top notch. You can truly get "lost" in a game world as lovingly crafted as this one.

The music is also very well done, it fits perfectly with the game and really helps to set the tone and emotional impact of certain events and areas. Truly, not enough praise is given to it, but trust me, it's really well done. Voice-overs are also a strong-point here. The characters (especially the "main" ones) are done extremely well and really help to immerse you in the world and form attachments with the characters.

The story and quests are also very well put together. Much less of the "go here, fetch this" crap that most RPG's use to pad out a game with content and much more involved and intriguing stories that mean just as much as the main quests in some cases. The addition of specific Witcher contracts, which allow you to go full on detective are also great fun. Some of these require a little research and preparation, rather than just running to a point on the map and button-mashing, giving them a surprisingly deep and complex vibe. There is also lots of content to keep you entertained - and as stated above, it's not just rubbish padding (I am looking at you, DAI).

At this point I am really struggling to find much wrong with the game. I suppose the only thing that is a little lacklustre is the combat - which can be great sometimes, or very frustrating at others. It could do with a little polishing given the amount of it in the game, but it is by no means a deal-breaker - and certainly an improvement over Witcher 2's. To be honest, it grows on you as well - being quite different to most RPG's I have played, but once you get used to it, suddenly it all seems to come together and work. So really, this is nitpicking. I found the keyboard and mouse controls difficult to get to grips with, but a few rebinds later and all was well (dodge key being bound to Alt by default was a personal bugbear). Also be sure to turn on "Hardware Mouse", or else the mouse never feels "right". Quite why it is defaulted to "off" to begin with, I don't understand.

The "Gwent" mini-game also never captured me (I just avoid it wherever possible). This is personal taste however, and a lot of people seem to really enjoy it. Never quite clicked with me though. Each to their own. Thankfully you can just skip these - including the "find them all" quest related to collecting every card in the game. So what we have here is an optional feature that some will love and play (no con to the game) and others will not like and skip (no con again), making this whole "issue" a non-issue.

Yep, that's it. I honestly cannot name anymore cons. Absolutely everything else about this game is good - better than good. So, all in-all, this could well be one of the best RPG's I have played in a long time. It is nothing short of a masterpiece. I don't give away 10/10 ratings often, but this game deserves it.

P.S. Team Yen, all the way.

Running (just running,, walking, jumping is fine) is a joke though, its just so clumsy and inaccurate I hardly ever use it. I strongly recommend turning auto-run off asap.

Combat is fun, much better then AC or any other 3rd person game that comes to mind, but still way too arcade to my liking (locking on, no precision, blocking and counterattacking with a single click). Playing on hard you have to prepare for bigger battles, use potions, oils and signs, so its diverse and challenging. There is a very annoying thing about combat though, enemies tend to have a wierd aggro range, bandits can just stand and
yell at you, taking crossbow shots and bombs in the face...monsters sometimes just de engage you in the middle of battle, turning their backs on you and walking away, as they suddenly just couldnt be arsed about fighting the player.

The most disturbing thing for me is though the fact that I can just loot every **** house, even is the residents are standing right next to me! Wtf? It seems so easy to fix, and mind numbing that they left it the way they did. Theres other **** too, like bad npc pathfinding and loads of minor grahical bugs.

Everything else is **** brilliant. Gothic level character design, interesting quests, great graphics, excellent sound etc.

The Game is very good looking on Ultra Setting PC, the general writting of the game is very good (main story aswell as secondary quests) supported by great voice acting and truly impressive & believable facial expressions. The combat and class system is as good as it could get from my opinion, with somme issues but nothing really bothering. The world is huge, and when i say huge, it's HUUUUUUGE (And absolutely no loading whatsoever except at dying, launching and moving from a continent to an other. Truly feels great + The loading are never longer than 5sec at worst 10sec if you got a good machine like me) . I'm at 130h of gameplay right now (on High difficulty & Main story finished) and must have done atleast 90% of the total game. And clearly, i'm in for another ride with a new game.

The world, the mood, characters and their strories - it's all so well written… I LOVE this game. And now I am so sad, that this is an end…

I'm Polish and I loved Witcher 1 - I played it 4 times. I didn't love the Witcher 2. I completed it once, and tried to play again two times, but it just didn't drag me in. I've read all the Witcher books twice and I loved them more than any other literature at that time (before I even heard of the first Witcher game). So you can say I am a fanboy… But I don't care if you share my point of view – I just experienced this game – and it was all I could have ever dreamed of. I just had to come here and share it. Yes it has annoyances and I hope they will be able to polish it – even if it doesn't matter so much now – just for the sake of this great game, because it deserves it. Now I think I'm going to cry for a little while, and then I have to pull myself together and go back to my life.

Thank You Andrzej Sapkowski for creating such a great character and such a great world.

CD Projekt Red are my favorite developer right now, for good reason. Not just for the quality work they've done with the Witcher series but also because of their business practices. They continued to support the game by releasing free DLC which included new armor sets, hair/facial hair options, outfits for other NPCs, weaponry, AND new quests. All that for free, in this day and age? It's wonderful. In addition, they are releasing 2 expansion packs. Actual expansion packs with new locations, characters, storylines, and so many more hours of content. They really lift my spirits when seemingly almost every other developer/publisher wants to just defecate out a game, and support it for a limited time with paid DLC.

    Cons:

The only downside to this game that I see most people complain about is the combat. I can understand why, it is sort of basic. You're essentially limited to swords (although there are axes, their stats are almost always outclassed by Witcher swords) and the crossbows are more of a tool to stumble enemies/bring down flying enemies. But there are some other ways to make combat more interesting. Witcher signs (spells) that you can cast, and potions to collect and craft. All in all it was good enough for me.

    Other Thoughts:

I highly recommend this game. I enjoyed this game so much that I regret getting it for free via an Nvidia promotion, but I will definitely be buying the GOTY edition when it comes out.

Unlike traditional good-neutral-bad response systems it creates dynamic paths you can create that shape the story and change major plot-points in meaningful ways.

Aside from being given almost total control of the path you choose, it also has a great combat system. At lower difficulties it's easy to mash a button to win, but if you truly desire a challenge turn that difficulty up. It forces you to change your strategies for enemies and fully utilize your skill system and timings for attacks.

And lastly, it looks amazing. Granted, PC's have a ton more horsepower than most consoles but when those settings are turned up the game blows you away. I feel like I did playing Crysis at Ultra settings 7 years ago, so utterly blown away by how real certain textures look when compared to other AAA titles like Dragon Age: Inquisition. Layered clothing looks real, swords look like swords. Nothing blown out of proportion and made to be as accurate as possible within the bounds of the supposed time-frame the world is set in.

I encourage anyone who likes RPG's to give this game a shot. It sure makes every other RPG I've played look bad.

Beautiful world giving many opportunities for the player. We can explore caves, forests, mountains, helping peoples and doing much more things. The map is 30 times bigger than in the previous part. Crafting and Alchemy are more important, we also can upgrade swords, armors and signs. These sandbox gives many, many opportunities. Fight feeling is pleasant. Sometimes we are blocking on a small obstacle but in comparison to other games it is not very annoying.

We also can choose the path of the main character. Character (mainly Geralt's) and monsters doing really great feeling, details are amazing.

Let me preface this by saying that TW3 is my first Witcher game. Even though I knew next to nothing about the lore, CD Projekt has done a great job of fleshing out the characters and the history of this troubled land, all of which are tied together by a superbly written story.

The main characters of the story are complex and brought to life by well-written dialogue and excellent voice-acting. Denise Gough deserves special commendation for bringing out Yennefer’s condescending and fiery personality. Doug Cockle’s signature gruff voice as Geralt is always a pleasure to listen to, though if I had to make one criticism it would be that he needs a little more emotional range.

More importantly, TW3 attaches a great deal of importance to the decisions the player makes. And boy, there are LOTS of decisions to make, from deciding whether to spare the life of a criminal left to die by the sea, to deciding who to romance. Sometimes, the consequences of these choices are not obvious, but I always had the sense that what I was doing in the world had repercussions, big or small. Choices made early in the game could potentially have far-reaching consequences 40 hours of playtime later, and it was a joy to carefully consider the various options the game presented to me.

TW3 also has one of the best soundtracks a videogame has ever had. I believe this was the first time, after finishing a game, I went to Google the OST in the hopes of downloading it. The various tracks are perfectly suited to whatever is happening at that instant, whether you are exploring the rolling meadows of Ard Skellige or fighting off a gang of drowners.

My only gripe with the game is character progression. Each time you gain a level, you get a skill point to invest in various “traits” that improve your Signs, physical combat or alchemy. I found most of these traits to be uninteresting. While they certainly improved my combative ability, they were simply unexciting numerical bonuses e.g. to attack damage. While some traits unlocked new modes of fighting (e.g. a different way of using your Signs), these were generally unimaginative. A similar criticism can be made of the loot – again, getting better weapons/armour simply means getting weapons that have better numerical stats. Despite this criticism, I am still giving the game a 10 because the story, characters and soundtrack more than make up for its flaws.

Didn't had a lot of expectations or hype before the game came out, but this game got me hooked from the first 10 minutes, not to even mentioning beautiful world and environment's, but the atmosphere and music is amazing already in the start of the game. All of the quests are very interesting and unique although later on some of the quests might seem repetitive. There is really a lot of things to do and every part of the map feels unique and well thought out. The game play and mechanics are really polished and responsive, and every fights seems interesting and amazing, i had a lot of fights were i thought i will die, but as soon as you figure out how can you counter enemy you will be set to go. Now the only bad thing about this game i didn't like is the fast travel markers, i thought that some of the markers was either put too close to one another or too far from each other.

Having set all of this, i really think that The Witcher 3 deserves all the awards that it got, because the game is truly a marvel. The story in this game is really great and unique, although ending was so good and feels kinda rushed. The world itself is very unique filed with lore and monsters from Slavic folklore. This game is true RPG and feels like Mass Effect and Dragon Age had a baby with only the good features. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves a good book, because as you play you feel like you are the protagonist of a very good novel.

    - Great story and realistic dialogs with material to think-over, like in good book (not all this fantasy/sci-fi cliche bla bla bla of last titles of Bioware). I also like swearing in localisation (russian). More funny then offensive. Interesting memorable characters.
    - Sense of conflict in world, tension, where everything is complicated and your only choice -- lesser evel. Not crappy fairy-tale about good knights and bad big demon.
    - Good pace and balance between story + side quests around. Just in right proportion.
    - Big open world, great level disign. Nature is good and extreamly realistic. Villages and towns... oh! Novigrad - best fantasy town IN ALL GAME INDUSTRY IN ALL TIMES. Simply amazing.
    - Pretty weapon and amor disign. Some times just pleasure to made and see new items on Gerald. Eye-candy.
    - Integrated card-game. Simple, but enjoyble.

    Not so good:
    - Im not a fun of open world filled with markers "to visit" (more Assassin Creed way).
    - Rather agressive scaling of encounters by level, annoying after DS2 where you can kill anyone with just skill (or Skyrim - with... time).
    - Combat system is not ideal. Better then in Witcher 2, but still more or less mechanical (simple pattern - defence spell - strike - roll back wins 99% encounters with no use of brain). Skyrim-like healing, when you eat tonns of food during actual fight.
    - Clumsy inventory.

    So?

Must have and play for every RPG fan and veteran. Buy it, will worth every coin you spend during hours and hours of adventures : )

After 52 hours of gameplay I've just completed the main story as well as at least 15 side quests, and I'm absolutely blown away and even saddened that the main story came to an end.

I personally had played the Witcher 1 and 2 so my view of the game may differ slightly to those who have not, for me there was a great deal of attachment to the characters having spent so many hours with them before, so this only increased my enjoyment of the game.

To begin with, the world is simply gorgeous. Whilst everyone else cried out about downgrades prior to release I still felt the game would look amazing, and it really does. On PC I have to admit the requirements are a bit steep and to truly experience the world you do have to spend a bit of money on your PC, but it's well worth it in the end. For spoilers sake I won't say anything about the main story other than the fact that it was epic, and takes you to all corners of the world (which is incredibly enormous). The balance of quests is perfect, and your experience with each main character is a pleasure. There's humor, darkness, surprise, and even sad moments in the game, it has it all.

In terms of the combat system I felt it's definitely the most polished to date in the series, which would make sense considering it's a new game. Witcher 2 had combat which in my eyes was too easy at times and you could spam the attack key endlessly to kill enemies. Witcher 3 has a really good balance with enemies. You can't just spam the attack key without eventually being knocked back, and blocked hits result in loss of durability, so you're forced to take strikes carefully. The leveling system also works extremely well and gives you a chance to shape the way you play as Geralt. Want to use potions a lot? Invest in alchemy. Want to be a sword master? Invest in sword skills, etc. I also felt a great sense of pride when killing boss enemies, especially through Witcher contracts. Bosses are challenging and often quite scary to confront. You spend time hunting them and it's good fun to prepare yourself for such a fight, and of course the rewards are awesome.

For me the one aspect of the game which amazed me most was the attention to detail. The game was just so polished, beyond anything I've ever played. An example would be a dungeon I entered mid way through the game where I killed a few bandits. I had to return there later in the game and found the very same bandit bodies on the floor, in the same positions, and with rotting flesh. It's a small thing, but it just makes you appreciate the impact you have in the world and how non-linear it is. The side quests are just as amazing too. For the first time in a game I feel like the side quests are just as good (if not sometimes better) than main quests. Thanks to the great voice acting you can become attached even to measly peasants asking for help, and every side quest has an interesting and unique little story to uncover with worthy rewards.

I hate to blab on too much else you'll get bored. All I can say is, play the game. Just do it. It's a wonderful achievement in modern RPG games and it'd take one heck of a game to reach the same scale as this one.

I wish I could offer a more substantial review to potential buyers, but there's so much to do and see, so much variety, quests, interactions, even very small things and side-quests have consequences and interactivity later on in the game. Graphics are incredible and optimized. The narrative is the best you can hope for. OST is gorgeous. There's no way to really fit everything in this review so I won't even try - it's a unique game.
What I can say for sure is this: if you can invest any emotion in the main characters, any at all, this game will have blown you away when the credits start rolling. At its core the game is about its characters. If you don't like them, you probably won't like the rest. If you do - you'll love it. CD Projekt has stated this will be Geralt's last voyage. The developers will most likely never see what I wrote, but I want to give them a message anyway:

As a player of RPG's since the 80's and having played every major rpg release across pc and consoles; The Witcher 3, is in my opinion, the best fantasy rpg ever made. This is the new standard. Do yourself a favor and just buy it. Every gamer needs this in their collection.

Also if you've read the reviews regarding the controls... well I've had no problem playing with mouse and keyboard. Worst case you could plug in and use an xbox controller.

Oh man this game is like a digital orgasm. Now, since this is a pc version, there will always be some micro bugs and glitches which suprisingly in this game, considering its size, they are so few. Some bugs I have noticed is a stupid 30fps lock in cutscenes ( I mean, come on.. ) and some random shuttering issues. The controls are quite complicated for a keyboardmouse configuration, but hey, that's just me. The fighting mechanics though, thats an other story, its absolutely perfect. The games's auto path tracker is more or less broken, and I would highly suggest you just ignore it. Other than that, the game is perfect. I never thought I would invest so much time in a game other than Skyrim, and this game took me solid 78 hours to complete just the main story, with fast traveling and a complete ignorance of any sidequests. This game is huge, and would easily just vanish 200 hours of your life. Easily game of the year and easily from me, 1010 Expand

Some minor problems with controls are easily offset by everything else in the game: the storyline and overall playability is fantastic. Haven't spent so much time on a single game in a long while (not counting MMOs of course). First game I have purchased a DLC for. What else can I say... Boobs!

I could go on and on but I think that says it all and all the details have already been covered. Kudos to you CDPR, you should all give yourselves pats on the back. The PC gaming crowd loves you all, and that's no easy feat.

They are that good and involving. Rarely you are given only one way to solve a quest. Most of the times you face numerous decisions, non of which is obviously good or obviously bad. It's your job to learn as much as you can, make your own jugement and decide. And the outcome... the outcome is rarely what you would expect. And you can do nothing about it. The game will make you laugh, cry, shiver in righteous anger. Never in my life have I played such involving, immersive game with story of such depth. And I play mostly cRPGs. This is the first game, that actually has a small chance (I am too early in the story yet to say it definitely) to dethrone almighty Planescape: Torment from my private ranking in terms of story. And most of the other cRPGs? Comparing them to TW3 is pointless, nothing gets at least close. And not only in terms of story.
This is the best looking video game at this point.
Combat system is one of the best ever crafted in cRPG. Playing on the Death March difficulty makes Dark Souls looks like a nice breeze. And not only because of increased enemy damage. It's because the difficulty also increases enemy AI. They try to encircle you, they wait for this single moment you become briefly stuned or blinded and this is when you die, swarmed by several ghouls at once, taking opportunity of that you cannot chop them in half.
Nearly everything about this game is a masterpiece. Story, visuals, story, story, combat system, story, music!, story, even the minigames that let you relax for a moment are perfected. Gwent, a game within a game, colectible card game, with a fresh set of rules, is enjoyable by itself.

By no matter game is perfect - there are technial problems, such as monster behavior, when you try to lure him out of his zone. Rarely I could spot some visual glitches/artifacts, but that might've been my notebook's fault due to SLI setup. Controls may seem unresponsive - but that's not it. They're as responsive as physics dictates - both Geralt and his horse have their own momentum. They cannot stop in place, they can't make 90 degrees turns in full sprint. This is very subjective matter, some like it some don't. An option to turn off "realistic controls" would be very welcome. But by no means this is a bug or poor design, nor an effect of "console port". Which is an absurd, because game was made using CDPR RED Engine, which was dedicated for PCs.
Last but not least - optimization. It's one of the best I've ever seen. Pillars of Eternity, with 2.5D not-so-detailed graphics was running around 25fps on my laptop. And here comes The Whitcher - marvelous 3D open world with best graphics up to date. And I am playing it on medium/high with 30 fps and on medium/low on 45 - 50fps. This is how you do it!
If you are fan of cRPGs - why the **** are you reading this? Buy the game and play.
If you are fan of good stories - see the above.
If you are a gamer that is not too much into this kind of games - I just feel obliged to let you know this is a huge milestone for gaming in general. Seriously consider playing the game, because it's like no other.

The story is pretty simple at first, but it is strengthened by the side quests and the characters. For the most part even the less important characters are interesting and their facial animations are well done (even if the faces are repeated in a few places). The developers have managed to make almost every side story feel important and connected in some way to the main plot. Exploring the world is dangerous if you come unprepared, even on the easier difficulty settings, and there is usually always something going on around you. There are a lot of small details that can only be appreciated when examined closely, but help the world feel more alive than other games of the same genre. Regarding the graphics: while CDProjektRed does deserve some flak for over promising, they have done an excellent job making this game look beautiful. The highest setting look incredibly sharp and detailed, and the lowest settings are still very pleasing to the eye. The weather is well done, and the lighting for the day/night cycle provides some amazing backdrops. This is definitely the best game to come out so far this year, and the amount of content provided ensures that the fun will continue for a long, long time. Expand

It's Story, characters, dialogue, quest/world/creature design are second to none of this genre. The world design can only be described as the most immersive, belieavable ecosystem ever crafted in any video game with an art style and atmosphere that perfectly captures architecture of mid european cities/village communities of it's historical time. Graphics, voice acting and music are of the highest quality. Gameplay is vastly improved from previous title...it is still not as responsive as Bloodborne or has the same quality of animations such Arkham series, however it more than makes up for it with an amazing variety of creatures and different types of AI, preparation through alchemy, learning your foes' weaknesses through extensive bestiary, use of magic signs that you can also use on your environment to give you advantage, as well as other tools at your disposal such as bombs, crossbow etc.
It is not without rough spots though...such as UI( Inventory system), AI ( horse riding), controls and camera as well as suffering from no small number of bugs/glitches. Honestly, until CDPR takes care of these things, I would give it a 9...however I'm rating it a bit higher to negate childish stupidity of those who downvote this game because they feel threatened by any game that surpasses their favorite title.
This is not merely another great game...it's place lies next to titles such as Chronotrigger, Half Life, Morrowind and others...games that mark a generation and leave higher standards for others to follow.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If someone is wondering whether they should get the game or not, the answer is definitely yes! The game does so much right. By no means is it perfect but seeing as this really is the new milestone for rpg's, I couldn't justify giving this game any less than a 10. Strictly speaking, I would give the game at its current state a 9.5, but we'll round it up.

    Pros:
+ Gorgeous, MASSIVE world. It just is so beautiful and masterfully crafted. No matter where you go, you can always find something interesting. The landscapes are phenomenal and immersive. The world is also full of interesting monsters and other npc's.
+ Story and storytelling. You've probably heard that this time around the story is a personal one. And that is completely true. It really grips you and makes you feel for the characters and want to see what's going to happen next.
+ Characters. Probably the biggest thing that sets this game apart from all the other RPG's. The characters are so well done. They all have interesting, genuine personalities and the voice acting is just perfect. The dialogues feel so real and you can really see, and feel, what the characters are feeling.
+ Decision making is the best that any RPG has seen. Not only can you see the effects of your decisions in the world, there isn't always a clear line of right or wrong. You don't usually get judged right away for your decisions and you can't always know the consequences beforehand.
+ Side quests are FINALLY worthwhile. In fact, some side quests even feel like a part of the main quest. In some ways they are, since they do affect the main quest. But all the characters, lore and dialogues make you immersed in the game like no other and there's quite a bit of variety in the quests.
+ Soundtrack. Not much to be said here, the soundtrack just is extremely fitting and at times beautiful.
+ Graphics. Yes, you read right. Despite all the downgrade fuss, the graphics are phenomenal. Sure, a slight downgrade has happened, but after some patches that improve the graphics a bit, I can not honestly see how someone would say that the graphics are not good.
+ Tons of interesting loot to be found everywhere.
    + 16 free dlc's (tho minor ones).
    + Fast patches.

Since I'm not big on crafting stuff, I'm just going to say that alchemy and crafting has been made well and I found no issues with them.

    Cons:
    - Combat is a bit unresponsive and floaty. The problem could be with the controls, which by the way are a bit sloppy too, but I think they should have made the combat more like in Bloodborne. It's just so smooth and rewarding and you can really feel the hit of your blows in that game. Now don't get me wrong, the combat is not bad at all, it's good in fact, but I feel like there's improvements to be made.
    - Lack of spells/character development. The skill system is pretty good, but it lacks depth. It feels too restrictive. There should be more variations to the signs, more interesting skills (many skills are just passive buffs to your abilities) and quite frankly, you should be able to select more skills on your active skills bars.
    - Bugs. No surprises here. In a game this huge, there was bound to be bugs. Luckily, there aren't too many and they aren't game-breaking, or even too distracting.
    - Short viewing distance. The world and graphics are beautiful and the landscapes as well, but unfortunately the landscape gets blurred and foggy too fast.
    *MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD*
    - Honestly, this is the thing that bugs me the most. After beating the game, the game reverts back to before playing the final chapter and the main quest vanishes. This means that all the things you do during the final chapter won't have any effect on the world at all. What's more, almost all the main characters disappear from the world. Needless to say, this is SO immersion breaking. What were the devs thinking? The game is otherwise so well done and then they just pull you out of the immersion and make the world feel so hollow.
    *SPOILERS END*

    Conclusion:
All in all the pros really outweigh the cons. As for the last con, I'm really hoping that the devs release a patch or dlc SOON that will fix this problem. It seems likely, since others have complained about it too. Despite that, all I can say is: BUY THE GAME and support the awesome devs for making this game and respecting us gamers. You won't regret it.

Taking all the aspects into account you can see just how much work went into this game. And I think most of us can agree, it's paid off. Expand

Fantastic open-world RP game where you can really get into the characters and story in depth, even when you ignore the main story quests (although sometimes you need these to unlock things). 2 main complaints (PS4):

    1) It is clear that the game was designed to play on computers, 10 inches from your face. Even on my large (42 inch) TV I need to stand up and get closer whenever I use the inventory. The same issues are present in the HUD as many things are just simply "too small" 2) the running > walking animation is super clumsy and results in me standing on top of things I want to loot often.

That being said, these are 2 minor complaints in a STELLAR game. A must buy for all open world fans. Who needs multiplayer when there are over 200+ of interesting story based quests and objectives?

I created an account just to say that this game is awesome. I am a Witcher fan since the very first one on PC and the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is the RPG I was waiting for. It's beautifull, deep, with very interesting characters and the atmosphere is, well, incredible. I will certainly be playing this game for a long time.

    I run it with I5 2500K, GTX 770 and 8go RAM. It's really beautifull

Witcher 3 is with out question the best game I played in at least 5 years. It's a pinnacle achievement in interactive storytelling and should be used a yard stick for future, similar games. The meaningful, emotionally engaging story line, a huge game world that feels alive, great production values and most importantly of all: immersion. It's all here and accounted for.

No doubt. The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt expands open-world role playing game's level. It also transcends The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim in some aspects. You must buy this game, no doubt.

This is one of the best videogames what i have played for last few years. Big open world which is interested to explore, amazing storyline, great graphics, every side quest has his own story. I am sorry that Wild Hunt is the last part of witcher's adventures. CD Projekt RED created a real masterpiece and i want say to them BIG THANKS for this game.

I started playing RPGs in 1999 when I played Baldur Gate 1 and a years later Baldur's Gate 2. Until now Baldur's Gate 2 has remained my favourite game of all time in front of Planescape Torment and Dragon Age Origin. The Witcher 3 has finally managed to grab me in the same way as these games, even though I usually prefer party based rpgs., and is now my favourite game of all time.

Btw I tried probably any western rpg in existence, but story wise hollow open world games never could hold my interest for long. Prime example Skyrim...

So what the Witcher achieves is really outstanding and a milestone. Freedom of an open world, with a great story, believable world building, fun gameplay and fighting system. If you want to look for weaknesses you really have to look at small technicalities, which don't harm the game much. Like the imho somewhat clunky inventory system.

So yes this game is a 10. If a game ever deserved such a rating then it's surely the Wicher 3.

P.S.: Shame on all the negative troll reviews, which are often based on small bugs or design errors, which were already fixed after a week of release. People like that really harm Metacritic's accuracy when it comes to user reviews and nowadays offical magazine ratings are usually more accurate when it comes to modern games here. That used to be different only a few years ago...

First I have to say that I am PC game veteran and RPG fan - playing games over 25 years now. So I have a lot to compare including previous 2 installments of the game. And I have to say - Witcher 3 is incredibly good. I am over 100 hours into it and I still did not get bored. Some key highlights:

    - The game is VAST. I mean really vast. And in a good way which means it is large and full of things to do. Exploring the world in Witcher 3 is very satisfying. You get to get not only new items and toys you see in other RPGs, but you can uncover new quests and become part of different and interesting stories.

    - The quests are very well construcited. Quests are structured and layered, some quests have multiple subqests. Sometimes finishing a quest will naturally lead to another one. There is a lot of twists and yoyu will be faced with meaningful choices that will make you think about your character and world he lives in. I also really like the witcher sense implementation, which gives the game a detective like feeling sometimes.

    - The world is very rich in characters and lore. If you are interested you can read books, and spend hours in bestiary/character descriptions.

    - The combat system is well thought off, abilities are fun to use and thanks to respec functionality you can try new things in the middle of the game (which is a good thing given you could have invested over 200 hours already. I have a little beef with character movement that feels a bit clunky, but it is easy to overcome.

Conclusion: if you are a PC you must buy this game. It is the best game I have played in a very long time. Although it is pricey it is worth every penny - there is enough content for you to experience for 10 anotherr games. Very well done CD Projekt Red.

The game gets a 10 for how much enjoyment I got out of it.

The world is open and vast and cd projekt red, filled it with interesting characters, backstories and combat that actually made me want to delve deeper into the world. This to me is a huge plus as most open world sandboxes create massive worlds and fill it with generic content (Dragon Age Inquisition being the prime offender here).

Many RPGs focus on tales of lone, wandering adventurers, but few if any pull it off it with such artistry as The Witcher 3. That artistry is most apparent in the setting itself, which is so packed with breathtaking sunsets and wind-tossed groves of trees that, months later, I still find myself opting to go to destinations on foot rather than taking the fast travel points.

That artistry is most apparent in the setting itself, which is so packed with breathtaking sunsets and wind-tossed groves of trees that, months later, I still find myself opting to go to destinations on foot rather than taking the fast travel points.

But the true strength of The Witcher 3 is that it populates these memorable landscapes with NPCs doling out humble but memorable quests (by the dozen) that help create one of the most human RPG experiences on the market. In decaying wayside towns, the witcher Geralt might find impoverished elves struggling in the face of local racism; elsewhere, he might help a self-styled baron reunite with his long-estranged daughter. These quests deftly navigate moral issues without being heavy-handed or offering obvious solutions

Through it all, much as in The Witcher 2, Geralt usually plays the role of just another character on this troubled world's stage. In the process, this tale of monster slaying and inter-dimensional raiders becomes strangely and poignantly relatable.

I'd argue the Witcher 3 is one of the best games ever made. Its writing and micro narratives are so far ahead of its piers it's frankly depressing. It stands as a testament to the skill of CDProjekt Red devs who deeply know and love their craft and allow you to have fun while experiencing war, racism and female sexuality a with a meaningful narrative and haven't devolved into catering and pandering for the masses, leaving the players reflecting on the Witcher world for years to come, as opposed to some jokes of games masquerading as RPGs that will choke to death on 3 pounds of steel.

The Witcher 3 says no to all of this - it's a great game with a fully realized setting, it's a joy to play, the business model behind it treats its customers like human beings, and it delivers a story that finally hits the tone of the books.

I've made it pretty clear that it's hardly a flawless game, but that doesn't change the fact that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is something pretty bloody special and you should absolutely play it.
