There are some very minor flaws with this game but i stress only minor, plus what game is perfect? Some of the very few flaws with this game, and other Bethesda games is the Save system. The seem to follow the old school save system where the "auto save" feature for this game is very scarce and you must remember to save the game manually before entering specific areas or you'll find yourself 30 minutes behind should you be slane. Another old school errer which they make is the invisible barrier. Personally I thought that this feature would have been made obsolete. Clearly not the case but it does exist within the game. Moving onto positives tho, the thought of fighting a dragon 1 vs 1 would generally frighten people, but in Skyrim you really do crave the opportunity battling with them and also giants with their humerous "pet Mammoths" as I like to call them. There is so much to do in Skyrim I wot spoil anything for you now but if ther is ANY game that you buy this year, i emplore you, PLEASE buy Skyrim, you will not be disappointed! Expand

After 100 hours of Skyrim I have to say that Bethesda Softworks has made a big leap with Skyrim. It has ALOT of content ingame. There's alot of things to do. You can explore dungeons, do quests, join guilds, master your skills and even try to kill everyone in the world.

The sidequests are good, but guild quests aren't so good. (Possible spoiler alert!!) Like in Mage guild, there wasn't much time as a pupil. In oblivion you had to do quests to gain ranks and when you were high ranked enough, the "main" part of the questline starts. In Skyrim, you sign up as a pupil to the guild, but after 2 quests you're already on way to become the archmage. There isn't a feeling of progress, it's pretty disappointing.
The holds (cities) are very interesting. Maybe the first hold you'll see is Whiterun. The first time I got there, I was amazed by the views, there's great mountains close by and they're veeery nice looking. Sometimes you just go somewhere just to see the nice scenery of Skyrim.
Even though Skyrim has glitches, I haven't encountered glitches that would ruin my game experience. All the glitches that I encountered were rather funny! Like a mammoth dropping from the sky or giant hitting you to the skies.
The combat is alot better than Oblivions. They could have done it better, but it doesn't care so much.
So I have played Skyrim for 100 hours now and there's still pretty much to do. Just gotta do quests before the Construction Set (the same program that dev's used to make Skyrim) comes out, which means that everyone can make their own mods easily.
Overall Skyrim is a great game! I have always loved Elder Scrolls and always will. If you have PC and console, buy it on PC. PC has mods, consoles doesn't.

The only things I can criticize are overuse of a few voice actors and occasional Bethesda-flavored bugs and crashes (for instance, getting tangled up in a handcart and dying to repeated impacts. Unfortunate, but hilarious.) With complete stealth, magic, melee, archery and assassination mechanics- along with guilds and quests catered to each - this title feels like it already has three or four expansions built in.

Huge world, many play-styles, beautiful scenery, and entertaining quests are among a few of the high points for this game. Sure, there are bugs, but that is to be expected from a Bethesda game. Mods for PC users fix most problems and will improve the game. While this may be the closest thing to a console port in TES's history, it doesn't make this a bad game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Insanely addictive. The animations are somewhat jittery from time to time and the shadows act strange sometimes, but it hardly detracts from the experience. I'm running this game at medium graphics settings but I am still amazed at the visuals and the performance I get with them. The open world given to you is enormous and the small things you will come across really make the game. The non-ending quests and the excitement of getting attacked by a dragon make for a game with a very long life. Being able to buy your own house and marry is interesting as well. I'd recommend NOT using the fast traveling tool (except if you are trying to get from Markath to Riften or something like that) , because when you go on foot you will always come across something interesting. This game kind of just clicked for me. It is perfect in almost every way. Before you know it you're clocking in another day of playing time. Be sure to say goodbye to your loved ones and to eat a rather large last meal before you pop it into your computer (or disk drive on the Xbox 360/PS3), as this game is so unbelievably addictive. I have loved Bethesda's past games (excluding Fallout: New Vegas. That game was terrible), and this is no exception. This is not just a game, but art, and a masterpiece at that. Expand

Bethesda really, really outdid themselves on this game and I'm glad they put so much effort in this, especially after collecting so many fans of the TES series. After the fantastic Morrowind and Oblivion, I seriously didn't expect something extremely new or special about this game, and feared that it might be ruined like all the other newer games.
Instead, they surprised me with a completely fresh title. The beginning of the game was slightly confusing, but I guess it's kinda standard for the TES games to begin with you being some kind of a unlucky prisoner, freed by an unexpected event soon after. The engine seems to be polished and upgraded to it's best, during nearly 60 hours of game-play I haven't noticed a single bug or an unusual thing that hindered my further progress. The only thing that CAN get annoying from time to time is the battle music that tends to get stuck here and there, requiring a complete restart of the game in order to be cleared up.

The graphics are completely solid and acceptable for this kind of a game, tho I must admit I was a little disappointed on how it all looks. I was expecting Bethesda to be more serious and step out of the "make a game for Xbox360, port it to PC quickly" pattern, but that wasn't the case here. The graphics are just slightly improved in comparison to the console versions, but I don't understand why the devs simply didn't put more effort in this masterpiece and made graphics better, more appealing and up-to-date with all the things graphic cards can render these days. This automatically draws the question concerning system specifications..they do seem pretty strange, especially the requirements for Ultra settings. Six years old graphics just shouldn't lag on high end computers.
One more disappointing thing, which I've hoped to be gone in the PC version, is the useless, weird inventory, which is completely out of place since we don't get to compare items without scrolling all the way down, then all the way up to the second item. At least they put in the Favorites quick menu.

Game-play is vastly improved, especially the leveling part which was pulled off horribly in the previous TES game, which required you to level only the main professions/skills you picked, in order to progress in-game. This time, we get leveling for each skill equally, allowing us to both level and choose various perks and "talents" which help us further our favorite skills and have additional bonuses when performing those.

I don't want to type anymore, because the text so far pretty much explains why you should at least try this epic title. It might seem a bit expensive for now, but I'd say it's definitely worth your money and time.

The best part of the game is that you can go anywhere and do anything you want to do and be anything you want to be, and still do it all in a way to achieve a whole bunch of great storylines and one grand plot. Because the world is so free to interact with and do whatever suits you, I'm surprised there are any complaints at all by anyone, I wonder what sort of mental issues someone could have if they give this a bad review. Even the mundane generated quests are varied and unique and worthwhile. Some of the quest choices I had to make made me full of regret and remorse after I made them, and heck, I'm a coldhearted gamer and never really care about doing evil things in a game! One choice I had to make in particular really made me feel genuinely bad ... what other games out there that can instill genuine *feeling*? Even when my dumb companion would die, I felt a bit attached and would have to restore the latest save and try again so they wouldn't be gone forever. Weird.

On top of that, the graphics are beautiful, the dungeons are never a chore like they became sometimes in Fallout, Oblivion and Morrowind, and there's a huge, full world that you're not going to finish exploring anytime soon. I'm actually surprised they fit all of this into a few gigabytes. The only mentionable point of suckage is the voice acting....they should have hired a bunch more regular sounding people that don't sound like cheap Romanian porn stars to do more of the dialog, but not a big deal. There are also a few bugs here and there but not enough to discourage me in any way.

All in all, I spent 120 hours to finish the main quest and most of the side story arcs, but there's still lots of loose ends and one major class storyline left to do and a hell of a pile of unexplored map, so I got a ton of value out of it so far. Plus in a few months they'll be releasing modding tools and hopefully some expansion packs to breathe even more life into is because I really don't want it to end.

The main quest line is very fun and once your about 10 quest from completing, you will not want to exit the game until you've completed it. The different guilds are much more fun now since there's a story instead of just climbing the ranks. The skill system is the same, use the skill to level it and level enough skills, you level up overall. Now there's perks to the skills, which i thought was going to be like the perks in Fallout (which i really didn't like) but they're pretty good, they're really about making that ability more powerful/useful. Now the dragons. They're all around Skyrim and they're really menacing no matter your level and extremely satisfying to take down. The atmosphere is great and I recall being startled in one of the first dungeons when I heard a scraping sound and a pack of Skeevers (rat monsters) jumped out of the darkness at me. The ability to almost completely customize your character and play the game the way you want to is very impressive. This is one of those games you can play one way and then come back and make a different character and play a different way for a totally new experience. Truely a quality and engrossing game worthy of the many gameplay hours I've put into it. Expand

The one of Skyrim is a huge and impressively variegated world, where every detail is there on purpose and every story makes sense, at the end of the journey. Just don't believe the haters: they can't stand the fact that this game represents the natural evolution of the happy marriage between role-playing and adventure, and at the same time the starting point of a long, epic and sometimes pleasantly frustrating adventure. Until you get an arrow in the knee, you know.

Skyrim is a perfect game. A masterpiece. Compared to all the previous Elder Scroll games, this one has improved graphics, more quests, and new characters that you can easily relate to. The most impressive thing about this game is the visual look of the world. The landscapes are beautiful, and would surprise even the biggest gamer. Definitely the best game in the series.

P.S. The only bad thing there is to say about this game is that the texture resolution is poor but it's ok especially when you think about how big this game really is, and then also if the texture resolution would be higher then also the system requirements would be sky high.

The gameplay is half-linear and the game world is massive. The conversations between people on the street are almost realistic. It has made a huge leap from oblivion with dragons and better leveling. You could become a hired assassin or an arch-mage. The main quest which starts off as you finding out you are the dragonborn and ends with the defeat of alduin and lots of stuff in between. The civil war quests were fun with lots of killing (which is good). i give this game a 10/10. Expand

But after playing the game a while you get bored as the dungeons are repetitive and possibly were chosen from a random generator, as everything seems the same. The game is one of those "gets boring after a while" games. Not only that, but I did not like the AI of NPCs and enemies. Dragons get to be very easy. It's not a perfect game: the staples of the series, such as clunky animations, simplistic combat and unrealistic dialogue are present. But the positive things that you actually get... is staggering. Want to complete missions? There are hundreds. Want to learn how to make your own weapons and master their use? You can. Want to explore a world that is the size of an actual small nation? This is the only place where you can do that (other than real life, that is). And think of the mods - I play with a few essential ones, and if there isn't something you like (don't complain it's a "made-for-consoles" game, it is, for financial reasons, but you can mod it to make it a pure PC game, e.g. with SkyUI), you can create it. With the included creation kit and the new Steam workshop function, modding is easy, supported and incredibly fun. They didn't make a perfect game, but with mods you can make it perfect for you.
The only reason why you wouldn't enjoy Skyrim is either because you don't like role-playing games or because you don't know what you like. Skyrim opens its doors open wide ajar, and you choose what you do. It's up to you to know what you think is fun, and Skyrim will deliver. An unforgettable classic!

Big world, lots of quests, heavy customization. The DLCs holes are bad though, the lack of an arena and unimportant towns makes you wish why exactly they done that.
Most dungeons gets quite repetitive after a while Bandits/Falmer/Dwemer/Rogue Mages/Draugr and you have more than 60% of all dungeons in the game. Unbalanced skills like Smithing & Enchanting kills part of the joy when replaying the game.
It really feels boring to build a character that you -know- will be weaker than a previously played one. The Master dificulty could be a bit harder. The console is better than ever. It is a great game for anyone that likes the previous Elder Scroll titles, the new interface will take some time getting used to, but you'll see how it's really faster and efficient than Oblivion's one.
No doubt, one of the best games in the last years, and probably will keep the title for some more.

The graphic quality was amazing and unlike other preceding rpg games skyrim gave you entire country to explore with no linear story line to decide how you played out the wonderful and fascinating story that the elder scrolls always brings us. I also really enjoyed player interaction with the characters and other npcs, like when passing guards would comment on your great new gear or how epic it was when you slayed those bandits or witches or other great evil or how some npcs showed thier appreciation for you when you completed certain quests for them. The few downsides were for a game with such a large budget they could have down with more voice actors it felt like I was talking to the same individual each time even if that previous individual was last seen at the other end of the country and they could have spent some time ironing out some of the bugs that frequently gave the players a laugh or an annoyance (like the flying mammoths for instance). Honestly, when I preordered Skyrim, I was a little scared. After the huge disappointment I had from Dragon Age 2, I didn't know what to expect. All I knew was that I was crossing my fingers and hoping for a good rpg experience. Also, I had enjoyed Oblivion so much that I was unsure how the next game (Skyrim) would live up to my expectations. To my surprise, Skyrim was not good - it was excellent!

Right out of the gate, the sheer amount of options I had to create my character were awe-inspiring. Beyond that point, I was still given plenty of options to make believe I was part of the game world. As someone who also plays tabletop rpgs such as GURPS, verisimilitude is something which is very important to me. Another thing which is important to me is making options feel like real options; what I mean by that is making different options be actually viable, and not having one option be the right answer all the time. Skyrim performs excellently here.

I am not without my complaints though, and there are two main things which bother me...

The first is not being able to fight from horseback. I'd love to invest in a steed, but it's often more problem than benefit. I am sure I am not the only one who has been attacked while riding, and then had to be beat upon while waiting for the dismount animation to be finished. That bothers me.

The second is that I wish the war felt more like a war. I am more than likely in the minority here on this one, but I would have liked being in command of troops for a few battles, and feeling as though I had to use strategy and tactics to engage in a battle and win. I would have enjoyed a strategic element being involved more with the war.

On the topic of complaints, one of the reasons I love Skyrim so much is because Skyrim fixed many of the primary complaints I had about Oblivion. Those being that I could not give better equipment to followers, and that the level up system was sometimes a little clunky. The level system in Skyrim is a vast improvement over Oblivion. Skyrim is a great rpg experience. The best thing about it is that it is only the beginning. It is the first of TES games made using a new engine; I fully expect future installments to continue to improve. I can hardly wait for the next game in the series.

I got the game 2 days ago and I am
Completly amazed and surprised in how entertaining this game is. The graphics are outstanding on ultra settings in a PC. The sound and music are hypnotizing and the voice acting is superb!!! The world feels so open ended and I like how the quest system guides me to new places. Well I had to take a minute to write this, now going back into the game!

Skyrim reigns trumphant over the gaming industry the now in that it has outsold just about every other franchise that isn't Call of Duty and it shows once and for all that there IS a market for games that are different from the "norm".
And it completely deserves every accolade it has got.

Sure, it has bugs. And it's usual Bethesda related problems but compared to previous titles this game runs like a dream.
And no one but no one can't tell me that they didn't have fun cackling like a mad man playing with the Sparks spell and thinking "Woo! Force Lightning!"

I normally don't gush over games but I just can't stop playing Skyrim, even after all this time it's still getting regular play from me.

First, the pure depth of the game is staggering. The map itself is massive and there are so many towns, caves, nooks and cranny's to enter it will take you forever to discover them all. My biggest complaint about Oblivion was the inventory interface and the combat and Bethesda addressed both of these issues in Skyrim. The inventory is much easier to use and the "favorites" option simplifies it even further. Combat is much improved, with blocking, striking and casting being much easier and more realistic.

EVERYONE should play this game. It is amazing and all of the mods out there make it even more enticing. The only reason I rated it a 9 and not 10 was because my ultimate game would be set in space, not Skyrim...I know that is stupid but I will never rate a 10 unless it is that. Star Citizen has potential though...

The interface is about the only justified criticism by those giving the game an over-hyped, unjustified poor score. As such the game deserves a 9.5. If your *primary* ambition is combat though, I'd consider another choice or wait for a price drop. If you enjoyed/loved any of the aforementioned titles for their RPG elements, Skyrim should do more than satisfy you. Expand

This game is one of the best games I've ever played. It stands right beside The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Gorgeous environment, varied environments, detailed environments. Be who you want and play with complete freedom. In this game, you can pick the wings of a butterfly, use the wing to create a potion, use the potion to kill an enemy, raise the enemy from the dead to fight for you, kill the poor thing again, loot it and then store that loot on a shelf in your house next to hundreds of actual books of lore. This game is enormous, and there are so many quests it boggles your mind. Literally. I'm nowhere near done a first playthrough, yet I'm over 230 into the game and savoring every second. What is amazing is how much content is so truly interesting.

The musical score is superb and may be the best ever in a video game. Levelling is well balanced, its fun to level up, statistics are solid, and Fallout 3's perk system got expanded and solidified. There are tons of things to do, when you aren't arranging your house(s), shopping or reading. Legends, mysteries, secrets, ancient artifacts, deadly myths, powerful enemies, and dragons. Set to the backdrop of a civil war. Looting is outstanding, as is crafting. Inventory and general UI is efficient and clean. Writing is much, much improved, as is lore in general. Bethesda doesn't belittle previous lore, but only reinforces it. There is so much I'm this game I can't begin to cover even a small percentage. But it is a masterpiece. Truly, seriously, a masterpiece. I highly recommend it, and if you're overwhelmed by its size, do the main quest, a faction questline and a few side quests, and it should clock you in at around 70 hours. The few issues I had are minute compared to its greatness. Bugs occur and crashes occur, as to be expected with such a truly massive game. And dungeons can be and are fairly linear. No big deal, compared to everything else.

Thks game is a 10/10. Buy it and play it! And good job, Bethesda!

And if that is not the case, you will need to see a counselor for video game addiction after you buy Skyrim anyway haha This game is more of a dungeon crawl hack and slash game, like DIABLO, and is bound to make some nerds unhappy, because according to them "it's not a proper CRPG" with all that cliche fantasy, king, princess, mage, warrior, decision making and dialogue **** that they love. The graphics are decent, and they run really really good. it is just as smooth at 32 fps as it is at 60fps with a mainstream graphics card like an HD5770, and if you have a bigger card than an HD5770, you will be a happy camper. The major beef everyone has with the game are the bugs, and that displeases me too, but now that it is patched, I have no complaints, except that the High Res Textures stutter, but I know that will get fixed as the AMD graphics driver is updated. Anyway, you get the picture, make your choice. Expand

The combat is better this time around, giving you the ability to dual wield, but it may get a little repetitive. Skyrim has one of the nicest progressions systems I've ever seen in a game, what you use a lot you get better at, the only problem is that you can boost some of the skills, but it's not as easy as in oblivion. Even though it has a nice combat system and a very nice progression system it's still the world that shines. It's extremely fun to explore in this game and you get rewarded for it. Expand

The art style, music and character models make Skyrim the most spectacular experience so far in terms of a living world to explore. Unfortunately, Skyrim trips and falls on its own (most probably, to make the cool-sounding deadline of 11-11-11) and just before it reaches perfection as the ultimate specimen of its genre, it self-destructs in a crucial aspect of game design: the interface and the peripheral components (inventory, journal, map, etc)... but that is not to say that Skyrim is anything but a truly majestic, epic RPG that will suck you right in its cosmos.
