Wow, where do I even begin with this dumpster fire of a game? It's like the developers took everything that makes a good open-world space exploration game and threw it out the airlock. The graphics look like they were created on a potato, and the planets? They're about as interesting as watching paint dry in slow motion.

It's just a very boring gameplay, weak dialogues, there is practically no exploration of the planets, people's facial mimics are unpolished, similar to F3, the graphics are also bad (but the old graphics engine is probably to blame). Flying in space and ships combat also offer nothing, there are a few options, but nothing more, the UI is tragic. There is no point in building an outpost or doing side missions, because the game itself is empty anyway. Only the sound effects are not bad, but nothing more, this game does not have the feeling that you are among the stars, a big disappointment. Right now, this game seems to be in its very early stage. Starfield, a game that fell short of the promises made like many before it. Bethesda shows us again that marketing means more than development. Bethesda shows us again that marketing means more than development. Sweat off the hype surrounding space exploration, take a giant leap back, and observe what has really been provided to us here. Starfield is about exploring space, or at least that was what it was supposed to be about. You will often find yourself repeating the same fetch quests over and over once you complete the mind numbing overly long tutorial. Once you get in to the groove though, you quickly find out that the game contains much repetition broken up by the same loading screens, and that you are not as free as you thought you would be. Quests will be to teleport (quick travel) to a location that resembles the same as before it, walk a short distance, shoot the bodies in front of you, loot and return. You are unable to freely fly your ship anywhere you want, nor can you land anywhere on a planet that you want. In fact, if you land the same place twice, the planet will look different. The game procedurally generates a "random" tile to which you can walk, just don't walk to far because there are invisible walls. You can not even see the towns in the background. Gunplay is nice and tight, however quickly becomes underwhelming when you realize most weapons feel the same, but some with a zoom option. The enemies will not run for cover or show any signs of intelligence as you blast their faces off. Jumping and moving super slow .. because you know, gravity? .. This only adds to the frustratingly boring slow paced gameplay and story. Designing your own base or ship you would think would be fun, but it is not. The clunky system and process is tedious and is not rewarding. The level-up / reward / skill system seems interesting, but plagued by bugs and glitches as is the entire game quickly becomes the same... more annoying than rewarding. Overall, this half baked experience seems like it was pulled out of the oven way too soon. Gamers alike want to love it, as it is a popular release and set in space, what is there not to love? Unfortunately, this game falls flat on its face and feels more like multiple mini games stuck together with extremely long loading screens. Each as equally bad as the other. Don't even get me started on the graphics or inventory system, yikes! Expand

    Literally unplayable in PC.
Not only they didn't optimize it, but also now Todd Howard has the gall to say publicly that they did and we should buy a new PC.
Refunded it, of course. Will update this review if and when it gets optimized.
Also, I'm all for freedom, but keep identity politics out of games, it's getting very annoying.

Mind you I have the game installed on a M.2 990 Samsung SSD. You cannot just land your ship anywhere on a planet and exploration does have boundary areas and you have to get and your ship to change or reach different areas which is super annoying. Inventory screen is god awful and needs to be reworked.
They said this game had hardly any bugs... (lies) Npc's melt through floors and walls, Ben Armistead Surgical Strike Quest is bugged. Seen some clipping issues when jumping around certain areas. Game feels incomplete and barren in certain areas. Not worth the $110 price tag I paid on Steam. I did get my refund back which is was the best part. (DON'T FEED INTO THE HYPE) I did and regretted it.

First of all, i find it completely insane that some Review critics can actually get themselves to give this game a 100 review, gotta be a paid review.
I see 100 reviews as "perfect games" with no major bugs, not even BG3 have managed that honestly, even though it is close to a 100 "for me"
As for Starfield, it was a complete miss for me, Ai that was worse than their 12yr old skyrim

As for Starfield, it was a complete miss for me,
Ai that was worse than their 12yr old skyrim game, horrible inventory, lackluster story, tons of loading screens, universe that feels completely dead, lack of space exploration, it is mostly just "load to the next planet" type gameplay, planets in most circumstances feels the same.
I had such high hopes for Starfield, kinda hoped for an epic space exploration type RPG, that would scratch my freelancer itch, but it was nothing like that.
And the Ai just felt insanely emotionless, no situational awareness with the story, buggy companions.
Just overall doesn't feel like a 2023 type of game.. it would maybe have been a success for me if it was released in 2005-2010.

And please do not start me on all the goddamn loading screens and fast travel for everything that everyone else is blaming on "limitations" Games have been doing texture, map streaming and so on with no loading screens or barley any for a decade.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
