Wow, where do I even begin with this dumpster fire of a game? It's like the developers took everything that makes a good open-world space exploration game and threw it out the airlock. The graphics look like they were created on a potato, and the planets? They're about as interesting as watching paint dry in slow motion.

It's just a very boring gameplay, weak dialogues, there is practically no exploration of the planets, people's facial mimics are unpolished, similar to F3, the graphics are also bad (but the old graphics engine is probably to blame). Flying in space and ships combat also offer nothing, there are a few options, but nothing more, the UI is tragic. There is no point in building an outpost or doing side missions, because the game itself is empty anyway. Only the sound effects are not bad, but nothing more, this game does not have the feeling that you are among the stars, a big disappointment. Right now, this game seems to be in its very early stage. Bethesda shows us again that marketing means more than development. Sweat off the hype surrounding space exploration, take a giant leap back, and observe what has really been provided to us here. Starfield is about exploring space, or at least that was what it was supposed to be about. You will often find yourself repeating the same fetch quests over and over once you complete the mind numbing overly long tutorial. Once you get in to the groove though, you quickly find out that the game contains much repetition broken up by the same loading screens, and that you are not as free as you thought you would be. Quests will be to teleport (quick travel) to a location that resembles the same as before it, walk a short distance, shoot the bodies in front of you, loot and return. You are unable to freely fly your ship anywhere you want, nor can you land anywhere on a planet that you want. In fact, if you land the same place twice, the planet will look different. The game procedurally generates a "random" tile to which you can walk, just don't walk to far because there are invisible walls. You can not even see the towns in the background. Gunplay is nice and tight, however quickly becomes underwhelming when you realize most weapons feel the same, but some with a zoom option. The enemies will not run for cover or show any signs of intelligence as you blast their faces off. Jumping and moving super slow .. because you know, gravity? .. This only adds to the frustratingly boring slow paced gameplay and story. Designing your own base or ship you would think would be fun, but it is not. The clunky system and process is tedious and is not rewarding. The level-up / reward / skill system seems interesting, but plagued by bugs and glitches as is the entire game quickly becomes the same... more annoying than rewarding. Overall, this half baked experience seems like it was pulled out of the oven way too soon. Gamers alike want to love it, as it is a popular release and set in space, what is there not to love? Unfortunately, this game falls flat on its face and feels more like multiple mini games stuck together with extremely long loading screens. Each as equally bad as the other. Don't even get me started on the graphics or inventory system, yikes! Expand

Mind you I have the game installed on a M.2 990 Samsung SSD. You cannot just land your ship anywhere on a planet and exploration does have boundary areas and you have to get and your ship to change or reach different areas which is super annoying. Inventory screen is god awful and needs to be reworked.
They said this game had hardly any bugs... (lies) Npc's melt through floors and walls, Ben Armistead Surgical Strike Quest is bugged. Seen some clipping issues when jumping around certain areas. Game feels incomplete and barren in certain areas. Not worth the $110 price tag I paid on Steam. I did get my refund back which is was the best part. Ai that was worse than their 12yr old skyrim game, horrible inventory, lackluster story, tons of loading screens, universe that feels completely dead, lack of space exploration, it is mostly just "load to the next planet" type gameplay, planets in most circumstances feels the same.
I had such high hopes for Starfield, kinda hoped for an epic space exploration type RPG, that would scratch my freelancer itch, but it was nothing like that.
And the Ai just felt insanely emotionless, no situational awareness with the story, buggy companions.

    Starfield: A Galactic Nightmare

Starfield, the highly anticipated open-world RPG set in space, had promised to be a revolution in the space exploration and discovery.
However, after two years of anticipation and high expectations, what we got is an experience that fails to live up to its developer's promises. In this review, we will explore the reasons behind this disappointment and analyze key aspects that affected the overall quality of the game.

    Repetitive Space Exploration:
One of the most exciting features touted for Starfield was the ability to explore multiple planets and solar systems. Unfortunately, this promise is marred by a lack of variety and depth in exploration. Most planets seem to be designed with a similar template, with landscapes and settlements that feel recycled. Exploration quickly becomes monotonous, as most planets offer similar experiences, with very few surprises. This is a major letdown, considering the game's potential to offer a true sense of discovery in space.

    Very outdated tech:
Starfield inherits the combat system from Bethesda's previous games like Fallout, which feels outdated compared to contemporary shooter games. Firefights lack the fluidity and excitement we would expect from a space shooter. The lack of innovation in this regard is frustrating, as the game had the opportunity to shine and provide a truly memorable combat experience.

Another disappointment in Starfield is the lack of significant advancements in character facial expressions. Despite promises of technological improvements, characters still have stiff faces and limited expressions. This affects immersion in the game and makes interactions with characters feel emotionally shallow and robotics.

The developer had suggested that Starfield would be a significant technological leap, but in reality, the advancements are minimal. While the game is visually impressive in some aspects, it doesn't feel like a substantial leap compared to other titles of the same era. Technological "seams" are often evident, which detracts from the immersion in the game world.

For every action we want to do we have to swallow a lot of loading screens again and again. It is NOT a smooth gaming experience. This is especially irritating after a few hours of playing and having to sit through dozens of loading screens.

    Horrible performance:
Regarding the performance of the game, it is the worst I have tried from Bethesda in my life. A nightmare. You need an upper-middle-range PC to play at 60fps even at medium settings. Forget about having a good experience with a GPU below a 3070 TI in max settings and a six cores CPU with a very high IPC. Visually you will not encounter anything nor does anything happen in the game that justifies these disproportionate requirements.

There are 3000 planets but it could as well have been infinitely many because the planets are nothing more than a procedurally generated rendered environment box you load into by pressing a button. With nothing in them. Yes there are technical hurdles in building a truly open world experience, but as a game developer it's your job to create that illusion.

But it's not just the exploration that's a complete failure. it's actually every facet of the game. The writing, the combat encounters, the environments, the NPCs. Nothing shows deeper commitment or passion. It's cliched, bland and sterile. And just not fun.

But the worst part is how Bethesda chose to market this. Clearly there is some PR bot farm shenanigans going on. This explains the strong counter reactions and all the ugliness surrounding this release. It's a disgusting practice and Bethesda still hasn't learnt yet that it hurts them more than helps. Maybe they've learned their lesson this time.

Bottom line is. this game is at its core a first person shooter with a lot of loading screens, a few rpg elements and some side minigames. With bad enemy ai. Avoid if you like previous Bethesda rpgs or Space exploration games. Actually just avoid.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. OMG, this game is bad! Honestly, I don't even know where to begin. The graphics are outdated, the gunfight gameplay is awful, the performance is terrible, the physics is bad, the world is ridiculously FAKE huge, and everything involves fast traveling.

You want to go from New Atlantis to Mars, right? The Atlantis town and its area are one level, outside the planet is another level, the space between the two planets is one level, close to Mars is another level, and inside Mars is again, another level. So, going from one planet to another requires at least four or five levels to render! Sure, you can fast-travel to Mars from the map, but I'm just saying, why would they create so many levels when your game engine is outdated and not optimized for this?

I wanted to simultaneously go from one planet to another at a very fast speed, and I didn't care if it took one hour and like fighting with other ships in the middle of the way! I wanted to simultaneously enter a planet from its atmosphere and then land on it. By the way, where's the town's map? Who at Bethesda came up with this revolutionary idea of NOT designing maps for towns? It's **** stupid!

What about the bugs? The game completely shut down my computer three times just because I forgot to scan the planet for materials and resources at the first mission of the game. It was frustrating! I paid 100 bucks for this game, and someone told me the game is already cracked! Wow, seriously? Are you telling me that Bethesda didn't even bother to work with Denuvo to protect their game from piracy? I really want to talk about those promises Bethesda told us to deliver and many other things, but I want to keep this review short, so 1/10!!!

This game turned out to be a huge disappointment, its a mediocre Bethesda game and a downright awful space game.

For starters the space is fake, theres no exploration. Ships are purposefully designed to be slow as molases (despite having tech for warp engine across galaxies) so you dont stray far from the planets atmosphere (which btw is a fake png too) unless you hit throttle for literally hours on end

How convenient huh? That space ships with warp technology across technology, moves so slow it cant move around solar system at reasonable speeds

I say convenient because this is a intentional cap to mask and hide the fake space, theres no space its just a map with quick travel loading screens. The planets are just segmented levels which you quick travel to

tl,dr If you're looking for a space game, avoid this game its terrible, a waste of money and time

The environment seems lifeless and dull. It appears every planet you go to consists of nothing but scannable rocks and tree’s with very few enemy encounters. The planets that you do “land” on are barely even explorable. There’s constant invisible walls and it seems the only way to travel is to walk on foot. Even landing on a planet is a cut-scene. You can’t even do that in your spaceship. The gunplay is mediocre as well and doesn’t feel rewarding at all. Nothing feels rewarding in this game. It’s very boring. It’s seems to be a great idea but only on paper, considering the end product doesn’t even closely live up to the hype. Expand

I think Bethesda made their old games by mistake.

(To give a simple example, instead of an empty planet when you return to Earth, you can attract the player with a simple design that will create a feeling of Fallout-style environment, map, missions, experience and exploration and stimulate them.) They filled every planet with containers, there is no feeling of environment at all .

This made the game unplayable for some people, and it also diminished the overall experience for those who were able to get it working, Starfield still feels unfinished and unpolished. The facial animations are stiff and unnatural, the AI of the non-player characters is rudimentary, and the game world is often empty and lifeless.
Repetitive quests: The quests in Starfield are mostly repetitive and uninspired. They often boil down to fetching items, killing enemies, or exploring the same few locations over and over again. This makes the game feel tedious and boring after a while.
Lack of innovation: Starfield is a derivative game that doesn't do anything new or groundbreaking. It feels like a rehash of other Bethesda games, such as Skyrim and Fallout 4. This lack of innovation makes Starfield feel stale and outdated.
Overall, Starfield is a disappointing game that falls short of its potential. It is buggy, unpolished, repetitive, and unoriginal. If you are looking for a good space RPG, then there are better options available.

Starfield, a game that fell short of the promises made like many before it. Bethesda shows us again that marketing means more than development. Expand

El juego es decepcionante. Después de haber jugado 18 horas y habérmelo pasado, puedo decir que en absoluto es lo que nos habían vendido. This game performance is ridiculous, it would be fine if it looked impressive, but it doesn't, so many older games run and look a thousand times better and also look better.

And don't even get me started on the awful looking braindead npcs. Bland dialogs with terrible facial expressions, it is really hard to care about anything in the story when everyone looks as if they're having a seizure.

Fast travel simulator. Incredibly boring, empty and outdated. No open world thrill, no real exploration.

There's a lot of flaws in space in Starfield. But that does not prevent me from exploring our galaxy again and again.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
