Hey kid, you like Bethesda Games Studios games? Skyrim, Fallout 4, Oblivion, y'know? Yeah? Then this one's for you. 60 hours in and I feel like I haven't seen more than 5% of what the game has to offer. It's food. this game is awesome.

Great game, Great story, very fun, but have some bugs:
    1. Like CAN'T PROGRESS in the main quest, Because the quest "Into the Unknown" does NOT start, Does not trigger.
Did all main quests, and faction quests, And the damn quest does not show up in my quest log. 2. Sometimes when I try to talk to NPCs they are still floating up. 3. There are some crazy collision that makes NPCs flicker

    3. There are some crazy collision that makes NPCs flicker while they try to go somewhere.
    4. And conversations behind a wall is very normal in this game it seems.
    5. Companions are useless for helping you in a fight, The only use is to romance, and carry your cargo, I gave Sarah my best weapon (Minigun) (with ammo) and she does not kill anybody, I kill everybody....
    6. I got Stuck at Dialog, Sarah talks to me about barret paying for repairs and wake, and never says anything after first dialog. And everytime I'm in the ship she automatically starts dialog, and get me stuck, So i had to disable her.
    7. My character keeps falling in place.
    8. Grav Dash bug camera.
Hoping for a Day 1 patch that fixes all of it. (I guess I'm hoping too much)

The performance is crap, I run crysis 3 remastered and cyberpunk 2077 with Ray Tracing with for FPS than this.
Still is a good game, If you like Fallout 4, Skyrim, is a great time spender.

A review coming from a PlayStation supporter who played the game on PC

    Pros:

Amazing story, it takes a while for it to heat up but is still amazing

Side quests and faction quests are so good that they rival the main storyline

Soundtrack is pretty good, but a lot of the time it sounds very similar to Fallout's soundtrack

Lots of character customization options, not as much as Cyberpunk 2077, but still there’s a lot

Combat and gunplay is a massive improvement over Fallout 4, not as good as other shooter games but still pretty good

There’s more verticality in combat with the boost packs and low gravity which is always fun

Making the protagonist silent was the right way to go

The list based conversation system returns instead of the conversation wheel, which is good

No sense of urgency in the beginning, which is good

Lots of choices for roleplaying like smuggling contraband, robbing ships, resolving situations peacefully or by force, stealing ships, bounty hunting, surveying planets, and many other choices

The graphics are the best Bethesda has ever done, in a lot of instances they rival and sometimes surpass other titles

Planets are really diverse with different color pallets, biomes, flora, fauna, resources, and gravity!

Each major city and settlement is highly detailed with their size, lots of citizens, and small stories

All of the cities are diverse and unique from the bustling city of New Atlantis to the space wild west styled Akila City

Ship customization options are staggeringly plentiful and good

Outpost building is pretty good and is completely optional so it doesn't sacrifice the quality of the game

The procedural generation on the planets doesn't get in the way of the game's quality in my opinion

Locations in procedural areas and planets are selected from a library of handcrafted locations, quests, and characters and then placed in the world, which is good

So much potential for mods like adding the Pelican from Halo or the Normandy from Mass Effect and so much more!

    Cons:

There are loading screens a plenty, but in my personal opinion it's a small price to pay for the interactivity of the world and other things

The art style shines in a lot of areas but also looks kind of bland in a lot of areas too

Exploration is okay but not as good as previous Bethesda titles

There are bugs and glitches often but not to the point where the game is unplayable and there is nothing game breaking Piloting a ship is okay but it feels pretty sluggish and slow A couple of dated elements of the game like windows not shattering when you shoot them or no crouch detection Strangely there is no map when you're on the planets, I mean come on the game is in the year 2330 Verdict: 9 out of 10

Not a masterpiece, but still a pretty fun game with a lot to do and see. Optimization definitely needs a bit of work but the story and gunplay makes up for it in spades. It's not gonna be for everyone, but if you're a fan of Bethesda games, you owe it to yourself to at least give Starfield a shot.

The discourse around Starfield is genuinely astounding and it feels somewhat dishonest. The discourse around Starfield is genuinely astounding and it feels somewhat dishonest. I perfectly understand a good portion of players viewing this game as 'mid' or a bog standard Bethesda game, especially if they've only spent under 10 hours playing the game; but those acting as if the game is the worst game of the year are certainly strange.

What's even weirder are those acting as if Starfield is the worst Bethesda game made. While to some it may not be the best, it's certainly better than their modern games and I have to question whether those calling this qualitatively worse than Skyrim or Fallout 4, have even played Starfield past initially visiting New Atlantis.

Having played Starfield for over 60 hours now I can say that this is by far my favorite Bethesda game and even with the multitude of flaws this game has, it is not a bad game. The quest design, dialogue, combat gameplay, and roleplaying are all leagues better than their previous attempts and while I understand seeing these aspects falling short of games like BG3, it is incredibly dishonest to even so much as insinuate that these aspects are worse than they were in Skyrim or Fallout 4.

It feels like a good portion of the negative outcry is coming from a section of fans that either did not play the game, did not play it enough, or simply don't actually like Bethesda games. Of course a lot of the criticism is deserved, but to act as if there are zero redeeming qualities to Starfield is nothing but a joke. I dare any of those giving this game a 1/10 and calling it worse than Fallout 4 or Skyrim to actually go and play those games again fully vanilla. It's seriously not even close.

As to some of my actual praises of the game, I will say that the side quests and faction quests are without a doubt some of the strongest questlines Bethesda have produced. The amount of choice and consequence within a lot of these quests are funnily enough exactly what people had begged Fallout 4 to be, but I guess you can't please everybody. Combat is good for a single player shooter RPG. It's not the level of an actual focused shooter but given the variety of gameplay in this game I never expected it to be.

I personally think the negativity around exploration is largely overblown and I genuinely wonder if any of these people have spent more than 3 hours playing games like No Man's Sky or hell, Minecraft. It is certainly a criticism to have but acting as if it's the end of the world is funny to say the least. AI is the biggest problem I have personally.

All in all Starfield is a quintessential Bethesda RPG. Flawed, long, slow, but the fun is always there if you look for it. If you truly enjoyed Skyrim and Fallout 4, you will likely enjoy Starfield. If you never actually liked those games and only liked the ideas of them, then yes you will probably not like Starfield. If you purposefully go into Starfield expecting a different game, make your mind up about hating it before playing it, and only focus on the negatives then drop it before 70% of the games functions even open up to you -then yeah you probably won't like it.

But even then what's it matter? 2023 is a wonderful year for gaming and even if you don't like Starfield there are plenty of great games either soon to release or that have already released so go enjoy them! Or keep bringing up Starfield in random Reddit posts that have nothing to do with it, that's cool too!

Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I own a PC (built by me), Xbox, PlayStation and a Switch. I prefer PlayStation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the GameInformer review scale and of course influenced by my personal opinions.

    (8) Very Good. Innovative, but perhaps not the right choice for everyone. This score indicates that there are many good things to be had, but arguably so.

Upon writing , I have 50 hours of play time on Steam and 15 hours on Xbox. During my first 20 hours of playing, I was not a happy camper. I was getting annoyed with the constant loading screens, and the constant walking on worlds that had repeated content in the procedurally generated worlds. For example I kept on seeing the same cave, mine, animals, plants, and/or, outpost setup that these knew planets I was visiting didn't seem very different from each other. I ended up not letting myself go to random planets and started to only follow the main mission and side missions and I started liking the game a lot more and wanted to keep going. The handcrafted parts of the game was a breath of fresh air to me and turned my initial worry about the game around. I enjoy the space flight but wish we could travel to other planets manually, I get not being able to enter planets without a cutscene but I was expecting to be able to fly in space more than just specific areas. You pretty much have to fast travel everywhere and it ruins the journey for me. Of course, I wouldn't want to manually go everywhere all the time but here and there I would. I haven't ran into any major bugs and the miner ones I did run into would just be enemies glitching into the ground slightly and the characters not looking at you in conversation. Basically, I'm enjoying the story and side stories but besides how many planets there are, the outpost building, and ship building, this game is on par with the Mass Effect Series and most of those games were from two generations ago that accomplished most of the same things. I don't think this game is a masterpiece but it's worth the time to play.

-1 Bad graphics quality and optimization: Plants and NPCs are the most obvious, I've seen a lot of indies with best NPCs they are even bizarre

But also abuses of ray tracing, everything in Atlantis looks like ceramic

Thus I can't believe so awful optimization, it can run al least 30% better. There are another games with much better quality and less load game screens. I'm getting almost the same fps as in series S but another games runs at double

-2 Lacks of minimap and procedural generation. We have seen much better procedural generation in another games like No Man's Sky

I have a feeling that I will be sinking a lot of time into it.

So far for me it has been very stable with few bugs. It is very taxing on the CPU, so even with a top of the line GPU, if your CPU is a bit outdated you might have to make some sacrifices to get the game to run smooth.

Starfield is a Bethesda game through and through and the experience is similar in a lot of ways to other BGS games. The big difference in Starfield is with scale, the scale of the game in locations is just absolutely massive! Even with 70+ hours in the game I cannot say I have even come close to exploring everything.

A lot of people out there are either rating the game as a 10 or as a 0-3. None of these, I think, are truly honest reviews. Starfield is a game that has strengths and weaknesses. There are parts of the game that are really good and there are parts that are flawed.

    First the strengths:
    - Exploration in this game is something that truly feels like exploring. With the massive scale of the game, differences in the environments, and alien nature of those environments Starfield really does make you feel like you’re visiting another world. - Customization is something that exists in multiple areas of the game with you being able to customize your spacesuit, ship, weapons, outposts, and houses. The customization is non-trivial here! The shipbuilder especially gives you a lot of freedom in how you do things and you can build anything from a smaller fighter craft to a massive cargo hauler. Starfield also introduces research to the game which is interesting and makes you work to unlock powerful attachments.

    - Quests, I find that the story and quests in Starfield are more varied and interesting than in previous BGS games. There’s something for everyone with quests delving into stealth, horror-combat, investigation, and spying. - Weapons in Starfield are interesting and there are some cool weapon types that are very fun to use!

    - RPG systems in the game are an improvement. Your background, factions, and accomplishments all give you new dialogue and sometimes even ways around things! - Progression in Starfield is varied and you can to build your character how you want while still needing to actually fit the play style to progress with the perks you are choosing.

    - The world built here is interesting and it shows that BGS has not lost its chops for this kind of work!

    - The New Game+ mechanic is refreshing for a BGS game allowing you to start in a new game while keeping your characters progression (though not their items!)

    And now, flaws:

    - Quests. While overall I say the quests in Starfield are well written, the first part of the main quest line is a little boring and the very first quest doesn’t make much sense. After the first maybe 1/4 of the quest line it gets a lot better but that what’s really missing is a hook to grab your interest.

    - Exploration in Starfield can sometimes be frustrating! You land on a planet to go to a location or even decide to go exploring and everything is 500m+ away! I understand that this is realistic for a sparsely populated planet but you’d think there would be some gamification of this so that it wouldn’t be as frustrating.

    - Enemy AI is dumb! Enemies do not fire enough at you and they react poorly. This can make combat too easy and you don’t get to use all of the fun guns in interesting ways.

    - Bugs! Starfield has all the same types of bugs as every other BGS game. This can be funny sometimes, even charming, but it is something that loses its charm when you see it too often. Starfield isn’t bad for BGS but you’d expect better given the work that went into this game.

    - Nothing in Starfield is explained well! Starfield introduces massive scale and multiple new systems to gamers but it doesn’t explain most of it. This includes how the planets show up on the map, to ship part power requirements, to some of the UI functionality. Now that I have almost three days of play time I understand things but it was frustrating at first.

    - The economy in Starfield is unbalanced. You get huge amounts of credits for everything so that you can pay for starships and their mods but it makes everything else laughably cheap. I currently have over 400,000 credits on my character and the most expensive guns right now may cost 20k-40k. Resources are even cheaper costing only a few ~300CR per resource meaning that outposts, research, and equipment upgrades are easy to do and very cheap.

    Overall:

Common complaints about Starfield are trivial in my own view, such as flying planet to planet (which you CAN do, it just takes hours). If Bethesda made flying planet to planet gamified where it takes no time at all people would complain about realism but BGS made them far apart and now people are complaining about warp loading screens. A lot of the complaints about Starfield are people being very harsh on the game and these complaints should not alter the overall perception of what is a solid game.

Despite its flaws and because of its strengths, when I sit down to play Starfield I have a very good time and I see myself playing it for hundreds of hours. I think that some fixes are in order but I am confident when I say that Starfield is an 8/10

'll start off by saying I am a huge fan of Bethesda Game Studios. The work that Todd Howard, Pete Hines and the rest of the team do is amazing and you don't see many game studios put so much time and love into their games like BGS does. I have countless hours and memories over the years from playing Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim, Fallout 4 and now Starfield.

    Starfield
Starfield has blown me away. They've gone above and beyond and I feel like it's their best game yet. The depth in this game is unbelievable! You could spend hours just in one little area getting lost in the lore and exploring where you don't even realize you've spent so much time only exploring a tiny fraction of the game for hours. It feels like there are multiple games within the game to give it that depth. You could spend hours just walking around on land and then realize you've spent the whole day without even doing any space stuff and vice versa.

Really excited to keep playing and exploring. I can't wait to see all the endless possibilities that mods are going to bring to this game. I think this will be the most moddable game of any BGS game which only adds to the endless replay value. The vanilla game is going to keep me busy for a very very long time though!

    Space RPG
One thing to note: This is not a space simulation game, it is a very very detailed BGS RPG so there are loading screens and there is no atmospheric flight. This has not bothered me at all, I rarely use fast travel and I RP out walking back to my ship and grav jumping without opening my menu/map all the time to make it more immersive. If you want a space simulation game there are games out there for that. If you want a space RPG with a ton of gameplay, content and depth then look no further than Starfield!

I highly recommend this game and look forward to seeing it evolve over the years!

    For all, into the Starfield!

In this vast expanse of gaming galaxies, one title has emerged, eclipsing its counterparts with an extraordinary brilliance - Starfield, the space exploration RPG that has ignited the imaginations of gamers around the globe. With its captivating universe, immersive gameplay, and limitless potential, Starfield is a celestial voyage that beckons to all, from seasoned spacefarers to those just venturing into the astral realms of gaming.

From the very moment you embark on your odyssey through Starfield's digital cosmos, you'll be drawn into a meticulously crafted universe that stretches beyond imagination. The attention to detail in this game is nothing short of breathtaking. Each celestial body, every cosmic anomaly, and all the intricate space stations feel meticulously designed, making it a joy to explore every corner of this astral frontier. The visual allure is complemented by an equally impressive soundscape, featuring an epic musical score and immersive sound effects that lend depth to every facet of your interstellar adventure.

At the heart of Starfield lies a narrative as vast and compelling as the cosmos itself. You step into the boots of a spacefaring adventurer, tasked with mapping uncharted territories, forging alliances with enigmatic alien species, and making decisions that echo through the cosmic expanse. The storytelling is masterful, with branching dialogues that offer meaningful choices and consequences. It's a narrative experience that's both profoundly personal and cosmically grand, a true testament to the power of storytelling in gaming.

One of the standout features of Starfield is its open-ended exploration. The game empowers you to captain your very own starship, allowing you to chart your unique course through the cosmos. Whether you're an intrepid explorer in search of new horizons, a savvy trader looking to amass wealth, or a gallant defender of the galaxy, the choice is yours. The freedom and agency you have in shaping your character's destiny is liberating and distinguishes Starfield from other titles in the genre.

Of course, no space exploration RPG would be complete without a robust spacecraft system, and Starfield delivers in spades. You can customize and upgrade your ship to match your preferred playstyle, from nimble, agile vessels designed for high-speed dogfights to colossal capital ships brimming with firepower. The ship combat mechanics are exhilarating, and the sense of mastery you feel as you engage in epic space battles is immensely satisfying.

Yet, the heart of any RPG lies in its characters, and Starfield introduces a memorable cast of diverse and fascinating personalities. From enigmatic alien species to charismatic fellow adventurers, each character you encounter feels like a genuine inhabitant of this cosmic tapestry. Building relationships and forming alliances with them is not only a key gameplay element but also one of the most rewarding aspects of the experience.

What truly sets Starfield apart is its commitment to scientific accuracy. While it takes creative liberties in envisioning a future among the stars, it also strives to adhere to the laws of physics and the known principles of space exploration. This attention to detail adds a layer of authenticity that's both educational and awe-inspiring. It's a rarity to find a game that can entertain and educate simultaneously, and Starfield accomplishes this feat admirably.

As you venture deeper into this expansive universe, you'll uncover a multitude of quests, mysteries, and challenges that will keep you engaged for countless hours. The game's longevity is further enhanced by a thriving online community, where you can collaborate with other players, join factions, and participate in epic space battles. It's a testament to the game's enduring appeal that, years after its release, it continues to evolve and expand.

In conclusion, Starfield stands as a radiant testament to the zenith of modern gaming achievements. Its amalgamation of awe-inspiring visuals, immersive storytelling, open-ended exploration, and scientific accuracy positions it as a true gem within the genre. Starfield beckons you to embark on an unforgettable journey through the cosmos, where every choice you make has cosmic consequences, and every discovery is a marvel. So, heed the cosmic call, and prepare to immerse yourself in the finest space exploration RPG of our era. Get around it, for Starfield is a gaming experience that's truly out of this world!

But when it comes to the story, game mechanics and exploration, the game is good.

The only downside to me is the amount of loading screens. But that's fine and after some time I got used to them. Main missions are interesting and some of the side quests are even better than the main ones. So, take your time playing this game and don't rush things.

In short: if you like Bethesda games and also like this kind of RPG but you're not sure about Starfield, play it for free on Xbox Game Pass. Don't waste your time reading/seeing reviews out there. Unfortunately, there's been flame war over this game because it's an MS exclusive.

I understand some people are disappointed with the game, but it's still a good Bethesda game.

Also remember: when it comes to gaming, YOUR experience is what really matters. I assure you that some games you love, a lot of people doesn't give a dam, and it's fine. Just do you.

Well, finally another masterpiece from Bethesda, this game is a refreshing change after FO76 and it brings back the exploration, good sidequests and the bugs too. The bugs are not game breaking tough, and most of the time they're just funny, i didn't experienced any crashes and only 1 stutter in my entire playtrough.

The bugs are not game breaking tough, and most of the time they're just funny, i didn't experienced any crashes and only 1 stutter in my entire playtrough.

The game starts off pretty slow, as a lot of people are saying, but as you keep going, following the storyline and the sidequests (which are pretty cool), exploring derelict staryards and untouched planets, you will be pretty happy that you kept going.

The beauty of this game for me, its the sidequests which are pretty extensive and sometimes i think they are better than the main constellation storyline, the UC vanguard for example.

Frankly, i dont know why so many people are review bombing this game, maybe its because of 30 fps on consoles, maybe its playstation, or they just didn't like the flow of the game. What i know is that this game is another masterpiece from bethesda and i cant wait for modders start playing around with it.

Starfield is a Bethedsa single player RPG game in every way(Good and Bad). Starfield has some bugs and is not perfect, in saying so I got early access and am 60 plus hours in. Every day when I get home from work I am excitted to play this game more.

There's a lot of flaws in space in Starfield. But that does not prevent me from exploring our galaxy again and again.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
