I can ignore some typical for Bethesda engine bugs at start because it possibly to fix in future patches.

They are directly copy and paste story, special skills, most of game mechanics, game engine old poor mechanics from past games like fallout and skyrim BUT they did it badder.

Its Skyrim without dragons, magic and mystic creatures. (you possible to get cry's like in skyrim)
Its Fallout 76 with pathetic npc.

    - Endless loading screen - I wonder what will happen first - Bethesda will go bankrupt or change the game engine and hire talented writers and character mimicry designers. - Look up how things should be done in GTA or CyberPunk2077.

    - The cheesy story of the main plot. - Look up how it should be done in Baldur's gate 3.

    - Flat and unmemorable companions. - Sneak peeks at how things should be done in Baldur's gate 3.

    - Cheesy npcs facial expressions. - Look up how to do in Baldur's gate 3.

    - 5 auto-save slots and 1 quick save slot. you can't put 100 and 100 slots. If you didn't do a manual save - you lost the ability to come back. 5 autosaves is 15 minutes of game play. You are living in a single player open world rpg with a goldfish memory like in some roguelike. - Look up how to do it in baldurs gate 3.

    - Why make trash pickable if it's worthless and useless? It just wastes my time to see that it's garbage.

    - Why put the player in front of a choice - to become superhuman and step into the unknown or to remain an ordinary man and not go anywhere. It's a disgusting choice. Just allow in and out. why do it. ugly.

The text highlights a dilemma faced by players in a game's final stage. They have the option to become a super being and enter the unknown or stay an ordinary person and continue living in the game's universe. However, the text criticizes the game for not clearly indicating that choosing to become a super being means losing all progress, including ships and completed tasks. Additionally, after only 15 minutes of playing in a new game+, the autosave system deletes all previous saves, eliminating the option to remain a normal person. The text argues that the game's development is lackluster, with outdated game engine, limited save options, and the developers disregarding player comfort and convenience.

"Starfield feels like it was produced in the past and certainly doesn't belong to 2023. The planets and landscapes are utterly barren. Cities are lifeless, and NPCs lack any meaningful depth.

While the game offers an abundance of quests, it still falls short. Starfield feels outdated and lifeless. Even compared to Skyrim, it can be considered less modern and vibrant."

    Let me explain:

I was expecting an innovative game. This is what Bethesda was selling us as an argument. They also sold the game to us by telling us "The planets will be explorable in their entirety".

But that's not the case, we're on Fallout 4, in space, with a procedural generation similar to that of No Man's Sky, AND THE BIG BLACK POINT (for me anyway): we can't land freely on a planet, nor take atmospheric flight or travel in a vehicle on the surface of a planet. WHICH MEANS THAT EXPLORATION (which they sold us!) ONLY EXISTS DURING LOADING TIMES!!

The game is completely empty (well no, it's filled with "space pirates" everywhere outside of cities), and if you've ever played Fallout 4 you'll understand that the game is exactly a carbon copy, but in space with procedural generation (and less well)...

The story is sloppy as possible, we find ourselves propelled into the adventure with a simple snap of the fingers (and it's called "RPG"), I'm not going to spoiler but it's really not a credible story. And apart from the story, most of the NPCs you come across will have a small side quest to allow you to negotiate with a particular person, or look for an object,... in short, Fallout 4 (procedural) and no surprises.

Moreover, the "negotiations" are generally totally false and this inevitably leads to a fight.

Procedural generation obviously only serves to make us stay on GamePass with a myriad of bogus quests and pirates in every corner of the map.

Bethesda, you made a terrible mistake in getting bought by Microsoft.

But let me be clear, the game have one certain aspect could catch up with modern background game like half life 1, that is its level design, you climb a ladder and loading, you go through a corridor and loading, you enter a building and get more than one loading.

Starfield is Bethesda's title, a game that was advertised with the ability to 'explore with unparalleled freedom.' Unfortunately, what Starfield is, is a sandbox for modders to fix the game. Weirdly enough, many people like to say that this is a Bethesda game, but what this actually translates to is a game that never evolved past 2011, a game that is a quarter-mile wide and an inch deep.

It has one of the most boring storylines I've ever played, with many characters having almost no personality, to the point where it feels forced rather than a well-designed story.

There's very minimal exploration with an abundance of loading screens, something you would expect from a 2013 game, not a 2023 game. The exploration, if you can call it that, involves running from point of interest to point of interest, with a nearly barren planet on 90% of every planet you come across. To add to this, the points of interest are all copy-paste, with very little variety.

The ship building is arguably one of the most talked-about aspects of the game, but unfortunately, the ship building serves no purpose, as there's no exploration beyond going from loading screen to loading screen.

The gunplay is by far the best part of Starfield, but unfortunately, even its best part is average for 2023 standards. They managed to program basic gunplay into the game, which is nice, but beyond that, it's just nice gunplay with a very procedurally generated loop system and very lackluster AI.

In conclusion, my review stands: if you're interested in playing Skyrim made 10 years later with very few improvements and essentially a space reskin, then Starfield is the game for you. On the other hand, if you value your money and want to play something more modern, I would highly advise against picking up this game, as it has nothing redeemable about it besides being a "Bethesda game."

Eu sinto, bethesda. Eu sinto

Movement is bad. This includes 1st and 3rd person. Also 1st and 3rd person walking is drastically different. You instantly move in 1st person, but 3rd person is delayed so the character animations can go through. If you run and jump, but suddenly stop pressing w you just stop moving all together. There is no momentum.(You're in space I promise you there is momentum.)

Flying your space ship in 1st person is nauseating. 3rd person is required and even then is not a 'fun' experience. Looting requires you to fly to each ship to press e on them where as mining on land it auto loots. Changing power allocation on your ship mid flight for combat is not engaging. If they could allow for power allocation presets it would be more enjoyable.

Game tries to get you to use their cover system, but it feels like you're fighting with the games programming to even trigger the cover action. Bullets shoot from the tip, but they do not shoot straight out the barrel they go diagonal from the barrel to the cursor.

The faces are jarringly bad. Not uncanny valley bad. If anything it looks like a mannequin. Eyelids don't line up and clip through the eyeballs. The mouths look like they just came from the dentist and are fighting off being numbed up. I spent an hour in character creation to make something that I could at least at the end of the day like, but gave up because the creator was just awful to use and everything looked well.. bad.

I've read many posts say the game gets good after 12-15hr. If the average person has time to play games for 1-3hr a day that is a week of playing the game before it pays off.

I would not recommend this to anyone. I would not recommend it to people who like Bethesda games. I would not recommend it to people who like space exploration. I would not recommend it to anyone who likes resource gathering and base building.

Your time is best spent elsewhere.

Primitive and unoriginal main storyline. Noname player character, typical secret organization, typical ancient artefacts... It feels like a generic RPG story in a generic RPG world.

Visually, Starfield is stuck in the past, at least for 10 years. The mediocre graphics combined with a noticeable lack of optimization leave much to be desired, especially for a AAA title in 2023.

Starfield is built on an outdated engine from Skyrim or Fallout 4. It is so ancient and miserable that any mods cannot hide all its flaws. A seamless world in a space exploration game? Forget it.

    Instead, you will get:

    - Absolutely horrible NPC face animations

    - Overcomplicated UI

    - Loading screens, loading screens everywhere non-stop.

    - Exploration is boring after visiting yet another dead planet.

    - Choices don't really matter and have barely any impact to ending

    - Bugs, visual bugs, AI bugs, or any other types of bugs

    - Stupid quests like a "find X of some crap and bring it to those NPC", like in games from 2010y.

The gameplay itself, "shooting and looting", is somewhat enjoyable if you are in 2012, but currently, we are in 2023, and now Starfield gameplay is just boring.

So, maybe Starfield isn't worst game ever, but it's definitely not worth the money. Buy it only on sales with big discounts.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm not sure how this is getting 10/10 with all the performance issues, how terrible FSR 2 looks, the constant loading screens, the empty space gameplay, the rushed stories you're thrown neck deep into without getting to develop your character before being thrown into these major events (for example, the Vanguard after your first mission suddenly you're now a spy for the UC Navy going in deep cover against Crimson Fleet). The sound has issues as when other people start talking, everything overlaps and the conversation you're trying to hear becomes too quiet to hear. Subtitles get overridden when additional conversations are happening. Surround sound gets too low unless you're literally right up in the characters face. Ship building was way overhyped and very limited with only a handful of manufacturer parts and not all match if you try to intermix them to create something unique. Also experiencing constant game freezes and I have to force close the game, luckily it's in full screen windowed so I can alt-tab to the task manager but that's another issue is no exclusive full screen so other apps won't keep popping up over the game. For a game people been waiting for since 2018. Its medicore at best. Funny enough I think that NMS did the space game type thing better. For the amount of time this took, and the games that got neglected by bethesda cause this game was priority is funny. This game isn't even optimized the best on pcs running a ryzen 9 and 4090. Be realistic, THERE IS NO OPTIMIZATION. I won't take back this comment/review unless you make huge differences about optimization and 60 fps mode.

Second thing is the graphics, this was proclaimed true next-gen title well the graphics sure as hell don't reflect that, it's not terrible but it's nothing special either they also didn't add very good textures no doubt so that the game would run on **** xbox series s which has lower amount of V-RAM, just look no further than water quality or reflections.

Third thing is the Performance and this is where i would score this game a big fat zero. In New Atlantis in 1440p native/ultra(shadows high) i got 60-70fps on 13600K/RTX 4080..... i can get this much in Hogwarts Legacy or Witcher 3/Cyberpunk with RAY TRACING ULTRA. This game has no explanation for such demanding hardware it doesn't use RT / Lumen / Nanite or Unreal Engine 5 while we're at it this game is made on ancient Creation engine which is no doubt the root cause of bad performance and lacking graphics quality. The only good thing about performance is that it's not stuttering and running a flat frametime.

As if all this is not enough the game lacks actual options which are critical for PC: NO FOV , NO Gamma Setting, No HDR even though it exists on xbox (it's terrible implementation even so...), NO DLSS even though it took me 20 min to enable it via mod wtf? This is 70$ game why the hell must i correct the devs laziness or stupid AMD under table deals ????

Honestly i question the sanity of devs who game such high reviews, Microsoft clearly spent a lot of $ on reviewers to get them on board. Personally the current state of the game is 4/10 for me, simply bad.

2023 was full of Mindblowing Games and then comes this game around which is literally Skyrim/Fallout but Space.
I don’t want to compare this game with No Mans Sky, BUT NMS makes so much right which this game doesn’t, that is a real bummer after all that hype from all those people, now i know I should never get hyped up from others who don’t know anything about the game and more specific not hyping up a Bethesda game since (except for Doom) are pretty much just the exact same but with a different style. It’s probably safe to say that ES6 will also be literally just Skyrim 2.
Don’t get me wrong, Starfield is okay to play but it’s just that: Okay.
I felt nothing, especially since most characters look hella weird, most planets not only lifeless but also quite bad looking, outposts/Mines etc. start to repeat after some time even with the exact same enemy positioning.
After such a huge year with so many bangers, this game is quite disappointing, if it would have came out in 2021/2022 it would have received probably better.
Only good thing I can say about it is the Ship customization, that is really a great thing they did, sadly tho it’s not enough to give me the feeling of an insane game when everything else feels so short and flat.
And I’m not one of those who care for 60 or 30 FPS as long the game is awesome (like tears of the kingdom) but those amount of menus and loading screen are a complete immersion breaker for a „the galaxy is yours“ type of game

If Bethesda could've kept their scopes on one star-system which wouldn't even have to be our own, then I think this could've been a really neat game. There is Bethesda world-building in the game, but you have to traverse so many clunky menus and UI and loading-screens that it is just a hollow shell of a game with pretty skyboxes. Yes you can take over ships and customize them, but Bethesda really missed the mark when they decided on not letting you take parts from one ship and transfer them to another, that alone would've been huge! Base-building is Fallout 4 just more inconvenient and clunky. I really really wanted- and still want, to love this game but it is impossible when you know what this game could have been. Expand

My favorite parts of BGS games in the past was travelling along a path and finding some magical Location, npc, etc. In starfield there is none of that it is all Reused Procedural Generated assets.

If this released 6 or 7 years ago it would be good but today it feels a few years behind the masterpieces we have been receiving this year.

I wish I could reccomend this game but this is another example of Bethesda relying on modders to fix their mistakes.

They all wear space suit and feel the same.
They say the game doesn't feel good after 20 hours of gameplay. However it doesn't give me any reasons to keep on playing after the very bad 10 hours. I'm glad i can refund it.
If you like the game good for you. I think game is like country music some just click well with others and some doesn't. To me this game is a 2 out of 10.

Anybody that gives this game a 10 is delusional and/or a paid actor. Same generic formula. It's like Bethesda refuses to push the envelope once again with another re-skin of Skyrim. For $70? No thanks. Save $10 and buy BG3. Better yet, get No Man's Sky (it does everything so much better).

A bland mess of poor technical optimization, shallow mechanics, and uninspired writing. It's a game that feels fifteen years old, looks five years old, but runs like it came from ten years in the future even on top of the line hardware. The performance issues cannot be understated: this game relies on frame generation (FSR2/DLSS via mods) to achieve anything near a playable frame rate.A bland mess of poor technical optimization, shallow mechanics, and uninspired writing. It's a game that feels fifteen years old, looks five years old, but runs like it came from ten years in the future even on top of the line hardware. The performance issues cannot be understated: this game relies on frame generation (FSR2/DLSS via mods) to achieve anything near a playable frame rate.

Even if you have the hardware to run Starfield at an acceptable level, there's not much here for you. Starfield time gates its limited content behind grind at every turn. Lockpicking, core to the worn out Bethesda formula of looting, is gated behind perk points and a required amount of containers/doors lockpicked. Trying to pick this perk late in the game will leave you looking for Novice tier locks for hours, as everything you find is Advanced, Expert, or Master tier.

Most of the character progression or even core game features are similarly gated behind perks. To name a a few, these include: targeting for space combat, access to weapon mods, the jetpack, parts for your ship. All of them are perks, requiring you to both grind out the experience points as well as the perk-specific challenges to advance. While this isn't a terrible system, too much of the game is gated behind this. You want to build a network of outposts producing something for you, fully unlock shipbuilding, combat or social skills? Expect to sacrifice all other character progression for dozens of hours to do so.

The economy is similarly time-gated, and there seems to be no way to earn credits legitimately in-game that's faster than looting drops off enemies. While you can capture other ships and sell them, you'll need to register them first. This registration fee will eat up 90% of your profits, leaving you with 1-3k credits for selling off a ship. A amount comparable to selling a single weapon or space suit dropped from an enemy. Considering that you would've also looted a couple of enemies when taking of the ship, you earn more from them than the ship itself.

Speaking of things that don't make sense outside the context of wasting players time: planet exploration. This consists of an instanced zone with a handful of points of dubious interest and a dotting of resources for you to mine. These points of interest are several minutes of walking in a straight line apart, giving you plenty of time to take in just how empty the world feels.

The outpost system is just as half-baked as it was in Fallout 4. At least you're not getting called up to defend them every five minutes, but that's about the only good thing to say about it. While it lets you ship resources between different outposts, you're not given any way to filter items from arriving shipments. This means you can at most receive three types of resources per outpost. While you can theoretically set up a series of outposts to automate production and make credits this way, I'd expect that you'll make more by looting enemies.

Finally, a brief word on quests and companions. The writing assumes that the player is always willing to meet it more than halfway, that the player will always be interested in whatever exposition is being spouted at them. It feels equally lazy and arrogant, as if it expects you to happily engage with whatever nonsense is presented to you. From assuming player motivation in the presented context, to player interest in cardboard characters, all while expecting the player to disregard massive plot holes.

To wrap this up, Starfield is an iteration on the same game Bethesda has been trying to make since Morrowind. This time it has a space skin, uninspired writing, massive grind and terrible technical performance. Save your money and time.

We are in 2023, and the game looks at times like it was in the PS3 era, truncated "supposedly" planets, faces, 8 bit textures, loading screens, ultra bottomless dialogues, 0 emotion and gestures, AI out of its ass running and making circles around you, and that's a drop in the ocean. Un juego mal optimizado, repetitivo y que se siente de hace diez años. Un ejemplo buen visible de por qué Bethesda no puede pretender seguir viviendo de Skyrim, incluso si ese Skyrim tiene una alineación espacial.

Cats out of the bag. The game is beautiful. Its visuals are polished and it’s a modern game. But that’s really where it ends. Repetition….. constant, shloging repetition. For the worlds it presents for the “ vast “ universe it tried to present its boring. Nothing feels important. You’re thrust so fast into the main story the beginning is a complete after though. The quests are like household chores. You know in order to progress you HAVE TO DO THEM. But you really don’t want to. Flying 50 light years to give some entitled old lady an energy drink wine cooler…. Who wrote this? Who thought this was a good idea. She’s the rich and famous Mrs.Coffin and she sets a desk even a Bethesda intern would laugh at. Exploration is the worst of any triple A title I’ve played. It’s like Bethesda play tested a bunch of games. Stole their basic premise and strung them together on this ancient engine and SOMEHOW made it work without exploding. But in the process left every captivating every titular concept their stole from under a pile of rocks on a moon. This game has no character, no flavor other than butt crack vanilla. You lick it a few times, you nurse it, you spend time with it. Just to have someone tell you that your breath smells like a**. This game suffered from the same thing Halo infinite did. Lack of direction in any one specific goal. A subpar storytelling experience and combat that would make fallout 3 itself laugh. Where has the immersion and the experience go of past titles. Who chose this as our future? Because they need tasked with something else. Story telling may at one point been their shtick. But it certainly isn’t now. I had such high hopes for this game. It’s beautiful, it’s HUGE. But in that it’s huge it’s also EMPTY. Like a big a** box of multi flavor chips. You can’t wait to open it to see what flavors you have and of how much each it contains. Just to find out the box is half empty, and there are only two flavors. 9 bags of plain, and one bag of salt and vinegar. You’ll open the box ( the game ) and think. “ WHO IS THE A**HOLE WHO PACKED THIS??!!” And that’s the game. 25 hours in I’m 100% out. The only way anything can be saved is by modders. The very same group that saves every Bethesda title every time it needs saving. Shame on you Microsoft and Bethesda. You made a beautiful soulless gutted empty space menu simulator.
And you should feel bad. You’ve wasted all of our time and money. And you could have just been making ES6. But no, Todd wanted a space game. Sometimes it’s best if Todd doesn’t always get what he wants. For f**k sake just put him in a room with the current No Man’s sky and Everspace if he wants to know how this game should have felt.

Bit of a mix of NMS + a looter shooter (with no good loot) plus some lame RPG elements. Absolutely mid in every possible way. Incredibly disappointed, refunded after 10 hours.

I can see some people giving it a 7 (if you never played an actual good space game), anything other than that, you're either a shill or a paid actor. Oh and for the people giving this trash a 10... Imagine

Oh and for the people giving this trash a 10... Imagine being a shill for a company that constantly ships unfinished games so that the community mods them and then 5 years later sells you DLCs with stuff the mods fixed for you half a decade ago. Keep eating up Todd's little lies. People like YOU are the reason why some of these scummy "AAA" companies get away with selling you completely buggy, unfinished, overpriced games.

This game developed for X-Box, so nothing revolutional for PC gamers, what a disappointment.. Todd Govard selling this game for 100$ and it’s worth of 30-35$.. For now - it’s a big empty sandbox, not an exiting world what you want to explore like TES:Oblivion or TES:Skyrim

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
