    EA's greedy politics are destroying great brands. The Battlefront 2 is another example. Mediocre single player campaign with less than 4 hours gameplay and pay to win multiplayer mode made this game worth zero $. It's a shame that DICE lost their soul for EA. I hope EA will bankrupt one day and these brands will find a new home. Help us players - don't buy this game - your are our only hope.

    I'm writing this review just to counteract one of the blind fanboys/EA employees that gave this game a 10/10.

    Having pay 2 win microtransactions in a full price game and if you dont want to spend money have a grindwall that would make even free mobile games blush is just unacceptable.Not only will i not buy any EA products in the future, i will also not waste any money on any star wars    I'm writing this review just to counteract one of the blind fanboys/EA employees that gave this game a 10/10.

    This is absurd!
    The progression system is tied to loot boxes, and to encourage buying them, you are in for a grind fest.
    Do not recommend to anyone, especially if you are a Star Wars fan like me, this is not the game you're looking for.

    How did EA managed to fu*k this up? It seemed that they learned from their mistakes, but when one thing seems too good to be true, it really is.

    If you really want to buy the game, wait for a sale you'll need the rest of the money to buy loot boxes

I have raise a concern to the Australia FairTrading commission. The game content was designed to be locked to the players unless they spent money to unlock it. Its like buying a car and having    PARENT BEWARE, DO NOT BUY.

    Its a big shame, really. We all love start wars, the environment, the ships the iconic settings, the music, everything. But the game progression is almost non existent. Its like buying a car and having the aircon locked until you pay for it. The game gets boring with the slow almost insignificant "creds" you get by the end of each round. It feels like a dull grind and you can see in the matches that people just want the games to complete to get the creds without really caring about anything else.

    So sad, I am sorry for all the artist and developers that are not hated by this greedy and unfair commercial practices. This is not a success because of EA greed. so sad.    … Expand

They shut down great dev teams, and recently began forcing pay2win microtransactions into their newest games. I will not support EA and Will never buy this game.     after 2 damn missions you join the 'resistance' who ironically are the ones in power, multiplayer is pay to win trash and miserable balancing. along with the worst collectables on this side of the galaxy this game is a hollow mess. REFUND before its to late.

    Anyway, this game looks great even if I have found many defects (on videos I looked and when I played the beta. Too much close combats, the action is too fuzzy, maps are too much linear which that surely leads to that fuzziness.
    Some defects from the first one have been corrected but the game is too much tuned for "pop-corn" sessions. Somehow epic, fast (or too short), without much flavor. In conclusion, you don't have the feeling you realize anything in this game. This game is finally pretty close to the definition of fast food. With all the bad things that it involves...

    Words cannot begin to describe how poorly this has affected my family. Video games have been and will always be something that I look to to give me joy but this title has wrought nothing but anger and animosity in times that are supposed to be for fun and laughter. Avoid at all costs.

    Well it's a game you can tell that is not rushed out like the last one, but that would have been a lot more forgivable than everything being hidden behind a cash wall. I want to enjoy this game but EA has made it to where I can't and not I'm going to be avoiding their games for awhile. This sucks because I am a huge Star Wars fan and EA has done their best to try and destroy the Star Wars brand.

    Playing the game after 10 hours, i find it a boring grind-fest! EA tried so hard advertising the new Campaign (which is 4 hours long with a disappointing ending) as you playing with the Empire, when the truth is, you only play for the Empire for 2 missions, after that you join the rebels, so they missed the whole point of their marketing! The multiplayer is just plain Pay 2 Win awful, withPlaying the game after 10 hours, i find it a boring grind-fest! I mean seriously, 40 hours to unlock 1, just 1 hero unless you pay for it. Same with star cards. College kids studying to become game developers could make a 10x better game than this.     As an big Starwars fan I feel that this game needs a review. My view on it is 10/10 for graphics, 6/10 for the Story in single player, detail for accuracy 10/10. But for multiplayer is where I have some really low scoring, the points system for unlocking hero's in my opinion needs some tweaking as it tends to favor the winning side too much 4/10, loot boxes are to much aimed at pay to winAs an big Starwars fan I feel that this game needs a review.     Of course, this game is a good quality but, progress scheme based on loot boxes, no matter whether you can purchase them for real money or credits obtainable from a game. This makes this game very disapointing by slowing down progress dependant on crafting material found ONLY in lootboxes.
    Basically, its a trap for players to encourage them to buy lootboxes.

If they went to a cosmetic system that would be fine as it would not effect how the game works.     I was in the beta for Battlefront I and took a pass on it because I found it to be a bit too repetitive and not that much fun...man I really wish I did the same for this. Battlefront 2 is both of those things ramped up to 11. The grind for this game is utterly ridiculous and the game play is pretty much a CF of chaos...in a bad way.     Köszönöm ea, hogy a 2015-ös Battlefron után ismét belerúgtál a gyerekkorunkba...a 2005-ös Star Wars Battlefthoz nem is mérhető ez a valami amivel megint csak minél több pénzt akartok legombolni azokról a rajongókról, akiknek még volt egy kis bizodalmuk abban, hogy valaha egy újabb jó Battlefront játék fog készülni...ez már nem csalódottság ez már harag és megvetés...

    So EA and DICE decided to mess up the whole game and throw out of the window everything that was in first BF. Instead they decided to deliver to us top quality lootboxes. I really thought that after e3 conference EA showed us good titles, but now i have no trust in this company.

    Even though microtransactions have temporarily gone, all that's left is a dull grind, without reward for performance. There is nothing to get excited about each round when you know you'll be getting the same amount of credits at match end as everybody else (based merely on match length time).

    you buy a game up to 80 bucks wich is over pricing for a game, with a short single player campaign.
    the only fun you can have is to play in multyplayer mode and guess what? you have to pay again and much more to still have a fair fight so paying over than 180 bucks for a game who will be outdated in 1 years, i pass...

    On a positive note... It's buggy, clunky and not even slightly reworked combat system from battlefront makes it justified to stick a fork in an electric socket and idle for the rest of the match because of the symptom of being dead.

    Galactic Conquest: It's one-sided like in Battlefront. Nothing has changed. It's still, "Protect the Walkers" which is fun for a few runs. But then you always notice that there is 9/10 times one overly dominant team, and if you're not on that team, you'll exercise your rights to die a lot. Add to it the cards that get quite OP at a very high rarity level which will punish the crap out of new players, the amount of fun will be limited.

    I will not try to be forgiving to EA. They've had plenty of chances to redeem themselves from disgusting business practices and failed to do so every time. I just hope I get to enjoy watching their stocks a while longer.    … Expand

    Multiplayer wise, you will see that the star card system is actually pretty unfair and pretty obvious that they will turn microtransactions soon as a result. Its luck (like gambling) what you get and dont get, so its pure luck (and money) that someone might be more powerful than you, and not because they are better ot put more effort into it, or whatever. Pretty **** from EA overall on a game that had so much potential, even more so considering they already **** it up with the "first" one.    … Expand

    I was more excited about this than any other game. The graphics looked awesome (and still does). The only thing that this game offers is eye candy. After 4 hours I finished the boring campaign (which only had a few missions on the empire's side, very disappointing it ended so fast). It's a full - priced retail game that not only gives you a straight up advantage if you pay even more money, it also gives you access to content that should be available for free. The microtransactions are worse than some F2P games, and that is saying a lot.

This game has an FREE demo and it's advised you play    Oh, I've been waiting for a long time to do this.

    Remember when demos were free and not behind a PAID subscription service? I 'member! I don't even have to go that far back (even though I used to play games during Shareware era), I'm just gonna give an example from a relatively recent indie game, The Talos Principle. This game has an FREE demo and it's advised you play it before you play the main game, simply because it has its own unique story and it ties into the main game.

    Now that we've seen how demos SHOULD BE, let's talk about EA's approach to demos.

    They make you download the full game (50+ gigs), limit you to 10 hours, (and this is the kicker) put it behind a subscription service. 5€ to try a game for 10 hours. Now if you ask EA, they'll claim that "but you don't get to play a demo only, you get to play our entire (ancient) game library for a MONTH!" and yeah, that's a valid argument.

    But what if you don't care about any of those games? I was talking to a friend (who somehow works in IT but doesn't even know the CPU in his computer) and when I told him "I just paid 5€ to play a demo", he replied back with the same argument above. I asked him if he played ANY of the games that came with Origin Access and he said no. I simply told him "then you paid 5€ to play a demo".

    He couldn't say a thing.

    -- Singleplayer Campaign--

    Okay, I wrote three paragraphs about single player but due to 5000 char limit (because I need to talk about multiplayer) I have to keep this short. All I'm gonna say that it's a short, linear, half-ass attempt at making a campaign just so people wouldn't go "it doesn't even have a single player campaign". Skip.

    -- Multiplayer --

    Time to address the elephant in the room. So I paid 5€ to test out this game and started playing with the same guy I mentioned above. We played a couple of galactic assault matches and I unlocked the first weapon for assault. Then we kept playing and I noticed that my assault class wasn't leveling up. I asked him about this and he told me:

    By playing the class, you only unlock weapons and mods for that class. If you want to level a specific class, you need to unlock boxes and hope that you get cards for the class you actually want to play. In a 60€ game mind you, not a Free-to-Play game. 80€ if you go for the digital premium deluxe whatever it's called edition.

    At this point, my mind was made. I was gonna skip this game. Then Reddit stuff happened and in a desperate move at calming people down, EA had to disable microtransactions at launch. Seeing EA back down gave me a bit of hope and I decided to give this game a chance (mistakes were made). I thought to myself "maybe because of this uproar, they'll fix this garbage progression system and be a decent company for once".

    Disabling MTX on launch showed how the progression system was actually designed. It was a grindy mess (and it still is). You'd earn 200-300 credits per match and when you considered the cost of a Trooper crate, it became apparent that this game was designed to milk people who don't have time. But this isn't the most frustrating part.

    So this game has three types of loot boxes. Trooper (4000 credits), Starfighter (3000) and Hero crates (2200, not 2000 because EA). The most annoying part is that these crates have a chance to drop cards from other crates. Let's say you got a Trooper crate and out of 3 cards (maybe 4 if the game feels generous that day), only one of them is Trooper related. Rest is either Starfighter or Hero cards (which has their own crates btw) or fillers like emotes and victory poses. Not to mention, there's a BIG chance of getting duplicates (which pays minute amounts of credits instead of crafting parts). That's why I started getting Hero crates only at one point but EA realized this and nerfed Hero boxes with the 2nd patch.

    To level up classes you can buy loot boxes or you can spend crafting parts you earn from these boxes (or by completing grindy challenges). So every card has 4 levels. The first level requires 40 crafting parts. Second is 80, Third is 180 and 4th level costs, I kid you not, 480 crafting parts. But that's not enough for EA. No. In order to be able to craft level 4 cards, you need to level up that class to level 20. And that means you need to spend your non-existent crafting parts to cards that you're not even going to use.

    All of the problems I mentioned above leads to one thing. Money farmers. Every game mode has at least one money farmer. They ruin the game especially if you're playing a 8v8 mod like Heroes vs Villians. Because of these people, the only mod i care about is dead after a month.

    We're two major patches in and it is apparent that EA won't be changing this system. That's why I uninstalled the game today and wrote this review.    … Expand

    I bought swbf2 bc i wanted a game to play alone, I play other games with my friends. Everything was amazing graphics, sounds and game play (when i wrote this loot boxes were not in the game). But one day i started swbf2 and i could not hear anything... i did everything i could. i did win10 sound fix, i removed enchantments... i clicked fix button on swbf2 on origins also checked if thereI bought swbf2 bc i wanted a game to play alone, I play other games with my friends. Everything was amazing graphics, sounds and game play (when i wrote this loot boxes were not in the game). But one day i started swbf2 and i could not hear anything... i did everything i could. i did win10 sound fix, i removed enchantments... i clicked fix button on swbf2 on origins also checked if there were any new updates.... problem was not in my headphones because i could hear everything else (other games, music yt etc...) so i contacted ea telling the my problem and telling everything i tried to do... then couple days later they close my case and they did not respond or resolve my problem they just coldbloodedly ignored me and now i cant play my game because i cant hear anything...     Graphics are beautiful, but this is not a game. It's a grind feast. Horrible game mechanics all centered around the casino loot box system that was pulled at the last minute. The downloadable content is a joke. Save your money. Don't give it to this company. They did the Star Wars franchise a huge disservice.

    Apart from the great Starfighter Assault mode Battlefront II is a mess of conflicting ideas, uneven mechanics and of course questionable monetization practices. DICE is facing long months of salvaging the game and the studio’s good name. [01/2018, p.32]

    Even the tinsel of the Star Wars world cannot hide the silly story and the boring singleplayer gameplay, or the necessity to accumulate the credits in the crate hunting in multiplayer. Battlefront II pleases as a genuine shooter in the beautiful scenery, but EA should deserve a slap into the face for their mad progression system.
