    I was one of the many that preordered this game months in advance, hoping to be able to play it on November the 5, 2019. My rig is a year old ASUS G703GS gaming laptop. ALL of the drivers are up to date. Every time I start the Rock Star launcher for RDRD2, I get an "Error, no compatible Sound card detected" message. I have a ticket submitted to Rock Star, but NONE of their suggested fixesI was one of the many that preordered this game months in advance, hoping to be able to play it on November the 5, 2019. My rig is a year old ASUS G703GS gaming laptop. ALL of the drivers are up to date. Every time I start the Rock Star launcher for RDRD2, I get an "Error, no compatible Sound card detected" message. I have a ticket submitted to Rock Star, but NONE of their suggested fixes work. I'm on day 6, post launch and still can't run the game. I would advise anyone not to order this game until all the bugs are ironed out and its on Steam. And in the mean time, try to get a refund if you can. For Me? No more Preorders! EVER!… Expand

    RDR2 single player game is good. But Online is broken FU Rockstar this is last time u ever get my money. I preorder rdr2 ps4 and rdr2 pc and u brake my heart when u ban me for glitch u did in ur game. Shame on u for this broken economy in online. FU i sell my ps4 copy and sell rockstar account.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I dont wat to tell you about bugs and optimizations problems. I want to tell you about "nice persons" decisions of creators.
    1. Story. Why u give players choice if it does not affect the ending of the game? WARNING spoilers.
    I spent so much time and all game kill legendary animals to create amulets, crafted enemys, developed main person and his horse for what? For stupid death? 1 hour ago i killed 50 men, but now im coughing and cant run away with John. Where is logic?
    Robbed oil fabric for 2k$ while having 43k$, where is logic? we take from bank in Valentine 6k$.....
    2. Too much limits. Like animations that i cant skip, for example cart buyer, When i did it 30 time i want to delete this ... game. with train and stagecoach same things...
    I cant run in camp, houses in story and many other plays and must 5-10 min walk like in ... garden.
    3. Bad system of reputation. Why my reputation go down if npc start to shoot first? or i robbed dead man in forest? Or angry answer man who first bad called me? or killed dog of bounty hunters? i need to wait when she killed me??? no logic...
    4. Autosafe after death.. Who invented it? Who invented 3 quest in a row? i wanted to see other decisions of last quest and spend 2 hours becouse game not supported sfae in this 3 auest in a row.....
    5. In quest i everytime only the first carabin or rifle...why i cant choose weapon that i want? Set it as the main?Knife too, everytime i have only the usual knife and if i set another one, then aftere another quest or smth it will changes to usual knife... With bullets same problem...
    6. why can not I leave about the prosecution as in the GTA if the lawyers do not see me?
    7. How the lawyers know who i am when i robbed smth or smth if i put on a mask?? How did they do this???Is this face recognition in 1899??

    Think its enough, too many questions that will not be answered...This game do not cost the price that they want...at least 3 times less    … Expand

    Una vergüenza tremenda es la optimizacíon de este juego, casi casi injugable. y lo peor de todo es que Rockstar hasta ahora no lo soluciona, ni siquiera se digna a responder cuando sacaran un próximo parche. Lamentable que pase esto con este juegazo.

    Great potential, and beautiful game where there is a ton of attention to detail. But the game feel is literally the worst feeling game I have ever played. The movement in Pac-man is 10/10 compared to this.

    I was trying to play this game calm since it is a RPG. I wanted to murder no one unless it is totally necessary but most of the game gang and you, have to kill people because NPCs are trying protect themselves from you or in some cases you kill for no reason at all for the sake of the mission like you go get drunk with your friend and for no reason you start fighting this scenario happens more then it should. In one of missions we have to save one of our friend from jail we ripoff jail bar and whole town start shooting at us(whole town has 13-15 building) we kill 80-100 people and when we turn back we can observe that incident had no impact to town at all. This game lacks realism a RPG must have and relies heavily on mindless killing for sake of game play like call of Juarez. Don't get me wrong call of Juarez is a good game but imagine all the possibilities with a massive open world wild west map and developers decide to make main character a bandit. Its such a waste of potential.

    [spoiler] In one of the mission we decide to sneak into fort with the help of an old lady who is a traitor. She snuck us inside and decided to ask more money than we have and Dutch kills her for a obvious reason that if you don't pay she will rat on us but Arthur who killed countless innocent people to that point be like "damn Dutch are you gonna kill me to"

    [spoiler] I realize Micah will betray us right after he join back to gang. He was the only person who acts like he doesn't care about others and next 2 missions with Micah proved that I was right but Dutch be like traitor can be anyone but Micah and I don't even want to point Micah joined gang just 6 months ago.

    At the last parts of the game I realize that I don't give a f*** about game any more. I tried to not to kill a single innocent person but game and scenario make you commit many crimes even if you don't want to. Basically you don't have any choice that changes to flow of the story. I found myself looting and killing and stealing more than I should since missions are forcing you to be careless anyways and then at the end game reward you if you tried to be "good guy".    … Expand

    An absolute masterpiece of a game. The world characters story and graphics are insanely good. Horse riding is more realistic than real life but playing it on pc sucked ass all because rockstar doesn't care enough to optimize the game on launch even though they had about 1 year because as always all rockstar games release on console first.     The Bad:
    - Horrendous controls. You are constantly in some urgent task with people shooting at you, when keys that normally work cause you to stand up and walk slowly around a horse or something.
    - Story not synced with settings of game engine... You are constantly told to hurry by NPCs when you are locked into "slow-walk mode" by the game. Or similar cases where you are supposed to do something the game engine does not allow.
    - Many "no way to win" situations... Sometimes you loot someone and are rewarded. Sometimes you loot someone and get negative rep because it turns out they were a "good guy" before they got killed off-screen.
    - Too many cases where the story locks you into completing something. If you have a real life, be careful playing this game because it will randomly punish you if you have to stop for the day.

    The Ugly:
    - Teases at potential relationships between main and secondary characters, but zero actual options. Failed romances are not the kind of in-game fantasy I enjoy.
    - Low actual control. The game is highly scripted. Make no mistake, you are acting in a (100 hour) movie when you play. You can't save people you might want to save, and you can't kill people you might want to kill.
    - I have to put the controls under this category too... They really are constantly awful, impossible to fully work around by learning them, and impossible to fix in settings.    … Expand

    Let's start with the core of any game, the gunplay. The guns and their mechanics are almost from 2001. It's copy pasted from GTAV which was copied from Max Payne 3. And it didn't even keep it at that. It just got worse. I felt no fun at all shooting. All guns are the same almost.
    Secondly the mission design. There is none. Half the game is riding your horse. Then    Incredibly disappointing

    Secondly the mission design. There is none. Half the game is riding your horse. Then a cutscene. After the cutscene you'll find a cover, get behind it. Use your slow motion thing to get 4 heat shots. repeat until the next cutscene. There's no design at all. Some missions you have to stand in an exact place and do an exact thing. You can't do anything other than the game tells you to do. It's like you're just watching the game and occasionally press E or some other button.
    Then there's the world. It looks amazing on the outside. But once you start digging in it you discover it's all empty. All the towns are the same to the point I don't even know their names. Except for one city that looks different but by the time I got there I didn't bother explore it cause I was so disappointed by the game so far. It's all just empty areas and animals to hunt which you don't need to hunt cause it's useless and boring. I found an NPC with a cool small quest then after an hour I found the same NPC with the same quest then discovered it's all copy pasted around the world.
    The game has cool systems but it ruins it somehow. I liked the honor system until I discovered it's of no consequence and the main mission will just change it for me.
    And now for the story, anyone who praised the story just didn't complete it. The story is great until chapter 5 then it take a dip in quality that I can compare to GoT S8. And it never recovers. After that I stopped caring about the story, the characters, everything. And wasn't looking forward to any of the missions because I know I will be just pressing the buttons the developers want me to press till it's over. I had to complete the game because I complete any game I play. But honestly it was more annoying than fun.
    The graphics of the game are cool but actually playing it isn't fun at all. After 2 cutscenes I just stopped caring.    … Expand

    Great game! Beautiful graphics, interesting story, interesting game world. If there are problems, I'm sure they'll be fixed soon. Fortunately, Rockstar remains one of the few studios that care about the quality of their products.

    My PC is a i7 8700K 6 core 3,7 GHZ, 16GB Ram, ASUS 1080 TI 11GB, 500GB SAMSUNG EVO SSD Runs smoothly on highest preset on 2560x1080 resolution (widescreen). Only change i did was to choose DX12 instead of Vulkan 1 point of criticism :    Best game i played in years. Period. No problems installing or playing. No glitches, errors, freezes of any kind after 10 hours of play time.

    1 point of criticism : controls are not wel optimized for PC...or at lease i don't always understand the logic behind the buttons to press.     Rockstar is actively not doing anything to protect honest players from cheaters.

    After an hour or so tweaking your settings so it does not crash every 5 minutes, its quite clearly the best game I have played in years. There is just so much immersion and things to do in a world that for the first time DOES feel real. I will not spoil a thing, just buy this game its a no brainer.

    Now, beyond the gamebreaking bugs, the game itself is just very, very bad. The wolves in the    I went through the incredibly obnoxious process of creating a Metacritic account to post this review; why? Because this game is so, so terribly awful. The amount of bugs in RDR2 on PC are just beyond what is acceptable. I was laughing this morning when I encountered a new, game breaking one.

    Now, beyond the gamebreaking bugs, the game itself is just very, very bad. The wolves in the beginning, the snow, just about every part of the game is designed specifically to drain as much fun out of your life as possible.     I am disappointed. I have long been waiting for this game on the PC. The game is good, but the technical execution is terrible. Often freezes for no apparent reason spoil the whole impression. The complete lack of optimization. At the moment, the game is not playable.

По техническим причинам которые многие пишут нет претензий, да бывают подвисания в городах, но они на столько незначительные, что просто не обращаешь на них внимания. НО! I downloaded the Nvidia driver also before I started. I have a 1080ti with a 3440x1440 monitor. I play with a mix of high to mostly medium setting with a should 60 fps and the game looks gorgeous self noI don't know why people can't launch the game. I pre ordered on rockstar launcher.     Играл в неё на консоли в прошлом году. Было интересно, но я не фанат игры с геймпада.
    Поэтому ждал эту игру на ПК с огромным нетерпением. И ни минуты не жалею.

    Сюжет хорош, геймплей интересен. Не смотря на свою размеренность и медлительность геймплей не заставляет скучать. В этой неспешности есть даже своё очарование.
    Никаких проблем с запуском игры не было. Картинка на средних или чуть лучше настройках графики 50-60 FPS без каких-либо проблем.

    Very well optimized, beautiful game! I7-2600K, Nvidia GTX Titan X (Maxwell), 16GB DDR3 RAM and I run this game at 1080P 70-90FPS avg with a mix of med-high-ultra settings. Looks gorgeous. There's some issues here and there like keybinds and minor annoyances in game design like missions linearity, but worth the price of admission, I'd say.

    Rockstar конечно облажались, но все же они не Bethesda... Они смогут довести игру до играбельного состояния. Разница между PS и PC у GTA 5 была 2 года, а с RDR2 прошел год. Я знаю , что они смогут залепить все дыры, т.к. это Рокстары!

    Шикарная игра! На 1060 запустилась с первого раза без проблем. Даже не понимаю, почему у других людей, имеющих мощнее компьютеры она не запускается. В общем, не пожалел одэтжанных за игру денег.

    If this were still stuck on console I'd have to give 2/10 at best b/c consoles suck. but now I can finally play this game as God intended, on my Mountain Dew cooled PC with 32 cores 1 petabyte of RAM and 4 GTX 2080TI Supers! The only thing missing is the My Little Pony mod I'm making in between masturbation sessions.

    Игра отличная! GTX 1060 6gb, Ryzen 5 2600x, 16gb ddr4 — на средних настройках выдаёт 45-50 fps в среднем (FullHD). Играть вполне комфортно!

    Кстати, пришлось добавить в исключения папку с игрой у антивируса, потому что из-за него игра вылетала.

    Great game, great story, divine atmosphere. I don’t know why others have problems, but this is definitely not a question of the game, I launched it for the first time and without any errors. In general, I recommend everyone to buy.

    I'd some problem with Rockstar Games Launcher but fortunately i fixed that. So I want rate the game missing this moment, because Rockstar made really great project. I've heard that many people got trouble with optimization and I tought that my computer will have that trouble too, but to my surprise it wasn't so. On GTX 1660 + Ryzen 5 2600 and 16 GB RAM the game runs with Ultra-HighI'd some problem with Rockstar Games Launcher but fortunately i fixed that.     Game is unplayable. Worse graphics than GTA 5 where I can run ultra with zero issues. Performance is nonexistent considering it freezes for 5 seconds every 30 seconds. You miss dialogue and scenes. Pathetic. Do right and refund or discount your customers.

    A couple of hours into multiplayer, I had a little fun messing around with a buddy, but about every 15-20 minutes I'm getting disconnected from the server. The worst thing about the game for me at the moment, though, is constant freezes (In single player and multiplayer). Freezes happen once every minute or two and last 5-15 seconds. It's so frustrating it's not even playable. I have a nice rig, but I'm running everything on the lowest graphical settings just to try to stop freezes. I've followed every suggestion Rockstar has put up on their website to no avail.

    Really wish I had my $60 back. Rockstar has lost all goodwill it has built up with me over the years. They're just another declining video game company not interested in their fanbase and trying to cash out as much as possible. Sad.    … Expand

    I lost my horse because of a ridiculous bug, it was literally the best horse in the game you could acquire and now there's no way of me getting it back. Im sick of this game and I have lost all my desire to play it. I wouldn't recommend it.

Что три/четыре года назад я со своим древним компом и квадратным моником смог получить отличную графику иЯ избегал сюжетных спойеров, и в целом шума вокруг игры храня надежду на то, что она рано или поздно доберется до ПК. И этот день настал. Безусловно это "ранняя" оценка, но могу сразу заявить, что как и прежде это было с GTAV RockStar добились потрясающей оптимизации для ПК. Что три/четыре года назад я со своим древним компом и квадратным моником смог получить отличную графику и минимальное количество лагов, что сейчас, уже с нормальным компом я не испытываю никаких проблем при запуске.
    Не нужно рассчитывать, что офисный Intel I3-***** с радостью потянет эту игру, и что 4-8 гигов хватит, и что какая-нибудь чахлая 1050ti и тому подобная видеокарта с лёгкостью справится с проработанной графикой и максимальными настройками при FullHD разрешении. Будьте реалистами и читайте требования к рекомендуемой спецификации вашего ПК. Я ожидал худшего но со своей GTX1070, видеокартой двухлетней давности, но как выходит - я пока не испытываю никаких проблем при максимальных настройках при FullHD разрешении.
    Для тех кто не в курсе - не выкручивайте на "качество" ползунки драйверов вашей видюхи, и не включайте сглаживание, отсядьте на рекомендуемое расстояние от монитора, и получайте удовольствие. Если же вам хватило ума выкрутить сглаживание на максимум - то конечно ожидайте подвисаний и лагов.
    Повторюсь, люди с офисными ПК - ваше железо хуже даже деревянных приставок, хотя бы до их уровня дотяните свои железяки, может что и выйдет.
    По поводу проблем при запуске, я не избежал их, и был какое-то время недоволен, ибо предзагрузил игру, потом ждал пока это дело "распакуется"(читай расшифруется), а после еще смотрел в бесконечный экран загрузки. Чтобы избежать банальных проблем следуйте простым советам - максимально обновите систему, ибо игра подгонялась под последние обновления, обновите дрова на видяху и в том числе установите DirectX, если лаунчер не сделал это за вас, установщик лежит в директории с игрой, после всех манипуляций с дровами - отправляйтесь в ребут, если за вас это не сделали установщики софта.    … Expand

    Once I got the game going I was able to judge the most important factor (IMO) that differentiates this from the console version which had that GODAWFUL aim/gun play system. It was absolutely terrible. If you tried to play it without auto aim it was so frustrating and auto aim made the gun play so boring. That is now gone with mouse aiming and now first person shootout are SO much fun. Of course everyone knows graphically and storywise the game is wonderful and that carries over here.

    I stop short of giving this game a 10 for two main reasons. 1) the awful launch issues and bugs and the terrible graphical optimization when they said you needed a GTX 1060. HA! What a joke! My 2060 super struggles to get 60 fps at 1440p on high settings. Hopefully, this gets addressed with patches. 2) This has been an issue with Rock* for a while and that is the dated mission design. It lacks variety and its very much on rails design where you have to do the mission EXACTLY like they want you to kinda takes you out of the immersion.

    I feel bad for the people who couldn't get this working. I really do and I hope it works for you but please don't give sh*tty 0 ratings when you haven't even played the game. It's childish and immature. Game is a masterpiece and MUCH better on PC than console.    … Expand

    I "played" the game for 3 hours and nothing happened. It is the most tedious game I have ever played and fans of the series are just movie watchers who got confused.

    I´m very disappointed. It´s a shame that such a great game has such terrible optimization on PC. You need NASA computer to play on ultra settings. Stuttering every few seconds. Bugs, lags, low fps. I would not expect such a bad optimization from Rockstar Games.

At the current state game is barely playable, wich is absolutely ridiculous, considering how much money they ask for it. I would never again buy anything from Rockstar or from Epic store.

    great game, the problems were only with the antivirus but after shutdown everything became perfect

    Very poor optimization, many crashes seemingly without cause, extremely long loading times(10+ minutes sometimes) on a rig with an overclocked i7-6600K, 1080Ti. Very poor execution on the quality assurance part. As in I'm not very sure they even tested it seeming as it crashes so often and does not run much better than my ps4 from 2014.

    Учитывая мой комп десятилетней давности игра идёт отлично, есть небольшие проседания фпс, но думаю их поправят. Уровень разнообразнейшей детализации просто потрясающий, начиная с банальнецшего загрязнения персонажа и лошади. Сюжет можно не сомневаться. Рокстар надёжная компания и скоро все детские болезни будут побеждены. Можно и выдать кредит доверия рдр2.     An absorbing tale that will test your machine and tear ducts. A game that did not suffer from being brought to PC. RDR2 is worth overcoming all the shortcomings, since it is one of the best games of the decade. [Issue#300]

    My biggest warning to anyone considering purchasing RDR2 on PC is that you need to have patience when you set it up. Take the time to go through each graphics option, compare your performance on Vulkan vs. DirectX 12, and tailor the game to your specs. Once you have the game tuned, there’s no better way to experience it than on PC.
