Persona 5 Strikers delivers the meaningful story, relateable characters, and complex mechanics fans expect from mainline games but switches the gameplay up to focus on action over time management.

Persona 5 Strikers is a successful crossover, bringing a true sequel to iconic JRPG. Among other things, it'll allow fans to learn more about the high school band led by the Trickster. With Strikers, Omega Force delivers: it's a demanding title, particularly enjoyable and complete enough to take you on a road-trip for countless hours.

Persona 5 Strikers is a great Musou game, and even though for veterans of the series it might feel intimidating but it’s worth it for the plot. The game runs so well on PC but it does beg the question: why isn't Persona 5 on PC yet? It’s time to bring it to other consoles other then the PS4 so more players will get to experience the full story.

The Phantom Thieves arrive on PC in a more streamlined form than the main Persona series, but an equally engaging one that's as stylish as it is action packed.

Early on in Persona 5's development, P-Studio had considered an action-RPG format for the original Persona 5. While the Phantom Thieves debut maintained Persona's traditional JRPG framework, Persona 5 Strikers showcases what could've been in an overall successful manner. There are kinks that could've been worked out, with battles lacking a significant degree of player feedback that unnecessarily inflating the game's difficulty. Strikers' story also takes a little too long to hit its stride, but it does reward players who stick around for the long haul. Acting as a sequel to the critically acclaimed JRPG, Persona 5 Strikers is a fantastic continuation for the Phantom Thieves.

It is hard to say this is a great Persona title. The combat is fun and punchy, the story cool and on point, and there are some attractive design sensibilities. Unfortunately, the overall experience doesn't feel as cohesive as it could. At its core there is a great Persona story and experience but the move to the new systems and Omega Force's take on the series highlights why it is that Persona needs its turn-based combat and carefully considered character narratives. This is an excellent title in its own right and probably Omega Force's best work yet. It's just lacking that special something that would make it a stellar Persona title. It might have worked better as an expansion to the original Persona 5 as the story is awesome.

The ingredients might sound tasty in isolation, but the recipe isn't quite right, leaving us with a dish best described as an attractive hotchpotch. [Issue#356, p.100]

It is not the typical Hack and slash.

If you like Persona 5 and Dynasty Warriors, this the perfect game for you.
This game feels like a road trip with your best friends from school as a game.
And of course you're casually saving the world while you're at it :)
I'm deducting a point for the short lenght (100% complete run in < 50 hours
for a 60 bucks game) and the game crashing 3 times on my system (March 2021).

This is persona 5 light fused with a musô.

First, I would strongly recommend coming here after playing the original persona 5 or better persona 5 royal (even though in this case some elements would not be cannon with this story). First, it is a sequel / OVA so starting by the second entry is a bit silly, second a good half of the persona experience is your link with its cast of characters so, even if most of the mechanics of the story are re-explained, you would miss a lot a things, and persona 5 is one of the best games of last generation sooo...

Anyway, presentation wise, exactly like its predecessor, this game is pristine, beautiful, inspired and varied environments, the music (again) is awesome, great animation works... It just radiates quality.
Same thing in the writing department, the characters are as endearing as ever, and the additions to the thieves are very welcome, but the plot is a tad predictable sometimes.
The problem arises in the gameplay department, the moment-to-moment gameplay is clearly an experiment here, sometimes fighting can be tedious because of the stuck camera, lack of clarity, and the amount of enemies / time to dispatch them… when it’s good it is really good you dodge and weave through the enemies with grace… until nothing shows you that another enemy is about to one shot from behind… Also, some jails (think palaces in p5) are a bit too big and revisiting them can be a bit tedious. The fusion system is a bit more tedious with level requirement for fusions components. And for the out of jail part, it is good, the confident system has been replaced by a much simpler system that allows you to unlock bonuses by collecting points doing requests (simple quests), after story event and during fighting, simpler but fitting for this much simpler game.
Anyway, it is a quality game with some gameplay inconsistencies, though even though it is less good than its mainline entry, I enjoyed it a great deal and if you liked p5 you should too! Though I would really love to see another iteration on these mechanics, a p6s maybe?
Anyway, it’s time for you to tear your mask out, right?

It kind of hurt me that they didn't develop this with P5R in mind, but that's a minor issue. The combat system is not the best, but it is interesting and it's kind of surprising how they merged the Persona style with a Musou game. I cannot rate it anything higher than a 7 because I can't say that there's something in the game that has really stood out to me while playing it. Character development? Only 2-3 characters really showed some development, the OG squad didn't really change anything. Combat system? An 8 at best, it is standard. Story? Average, and it really requires you to have played the OG Persona 5, while being sold as another game. That means, another 60$ to Atlus. Maybe I could point out that the art style is as good as P5.

Don't get me wrong, I think the game works for what it is, but giving it a 9 would be an insult for other games rated that high, and it would be rated lower if it didn't have that "Persona feel". I think that P5S would have worked better as an animated OVA or something similar.
