I would like for them to maximize the amount of pods that can be released, having people still stuck in pods at 100% viability doesn't make any sense. I would also like to be able to maximize the levels to unlock in Multiplayer; which is not PVP. But the PvE Multiplayer is challenging enough to complete with a group of players.

I did not buy this game for the Multiplayer side of the game. The Storyline is awesome and I really hope they build expansions to this game while potentially running a storyline in the Milkyway Galaxy that could at some point connect the two Universes together... maybe with the discovery of a really insane fast Wormhole that can turn a 600 year trip into a substantially fast jump from Andromeda to the Milkyway.

Either way this game is a 10 even with the flaws and setbacks....

The standard on release was simply unacceptable for the price. I don't know what happened to the facial animation but I have seen better facial animations made by high school students or hobbists who do it for free.

And plenty of bugs, there's too many. Only fix was a refund. If you are reading this and you haven't played Andromeda, then just don't. The previous ones were great and this

Yes it has some bugs and yes it is not a perfect game. But it has so much to discover and such a big galaxy to explore. There are a lot of quests and the fight system is a lot of fun. this game does not deserve the bad reviews it got. i had a lot of fun playing this game multiple times and would love to see more of this fascinating galaxy!

The game is one of the most awful games I have seen around.
The game is terrible is especially terrible because:
    1. It has badly animated human models, they don't even seem to be human. 2. The game is broken af. Expect to fall below the floor since the floor is "inexistant". 3. The gameplay is a dumbed down type of shooter like COD, but again dumbed down with glitches. Ironically,

Was playing the game with a "meh" attitude. The game crashed for 4 times in 4 hours. Tried to return it to steam but they didn't accept. If you want to burn your money, just fire em, but don't buy this game.

For me it's a step back in the franchise, the premise is good but it's a licensed chapter. The original triology is superior in all respects.
It is noted that the game is not developed by the original team, even so if you like the saga you will enjoy it.
The artistic section is good highlighting above all the lighting and the soundtrack IF YOU ARE NEW IN THE SAGA PLAY THIS DELIVERY IN

And let's be real, Humans were never interesting in ME games anyway so WHO CARES? The other races look magnificent! And this is HANDS DOWN the best gameplay of any ME game, plus we are building a new life in the freaking Andromeda galaxy. I love Andromeda so much, man. ***PROs***

    + Nice graphics.
+ Exploring is kinda fun especially in new, faster Mako-like vehicle.
+ (Some) nice voice acting (namely all the Ryders, Cora, etc).
+ Nice music (especially main theme).
+ Intriguing mysterious connection to original trilogy story arc.
    + Decent gunfight engine.
+ Autosave tends to do a somewhat decent job (strictly in that it saves regularly).
+ Some surprise treats for fans of the original series.
+ Ability to switch activate powers on the fly.
    + Independent power cooldowns.
+ Full keyboard customization (yeah, I know, it's 2017 and there *are* games out there that reserve certain keys that end up screwing you over).
+ Native controller support (tested with XBOX ONE wireless controller).

    ***CONs***

    - DENUVO! Yuck!
    - Half the people are British accented... It's like Harry f'ing Potter in space.
    - A lot of British English words and phrases (like they wanted to rub it in that they went all British).
    - Dull antagonist factions.
    - Dull non-Milky-way ally faction.
    - Dull filler tasks/missions make up the majority of the game (often needing you to constantly go back and forth across the galaxy).
    - Unskippable cutscenes when landing on planets (normally not an issue but given the back and forth nature of the side missions, it's excruciating).
    - Buggy AF (getting stuck, autosave issues, random dialog spurting, invisible objects/people, mission bugs, etc).
    - No QuickSave/QuickLoad!
    - Can't control squad-mate powers in battle.
    - Can't customize squad-mate loadout.
    - Mission/assignment journal is a disorganized mess.
    - Too many random location tasks which require a ridiculous amount of wandering around to finish.
    - Too few biotic primer powers (several key signature powers from original trilogy are gone).
    - Everything is f'ing "balanced" (serious impedance to leveling up player/weapons/powers/etc).
    - No renegade/paragon (often wanna sound tough but lack of dialog choice makes you sound like a complete wimp). Some dialog choice "labels" are misleading and makes things even worse.
    - I have no problem with gay love interests existing in this game but every other dialog option with certain male characters had the "heart" (romance) icon next to it and this made me feel quite uncomfortable and always suspicious if I'm leading down some homosexual path with some of the characters, especially with some who you meet that are either, um, somewhat "emotional" or just plain give off a gay vibe.
    - Bioware won't be releasing any DLCs or even bug-fixing patches for this game! Completely abandoned.
    - Unsatisfying final boss fight, though the lead up to it is great.
    - My favorite pistol is missing (Arc Pistol)... okay, I understand it's not fair to include this in the list but I needed to get it off my chest!

I'd give the game a 7/10, possibly higher if they had released good DLCs for it, but those first three points on the cons list really p*** me off, so it gets a 1/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. PREFACE: Playtime - 115 hrs - %100 completion of the game
I played this game after all of its many release issues were resolved at V1.10.

    Story 8/10:
Having played all of the previous Mass Effect games, and thoroughly enjoying all of them (again I played them all after their patches were applied so I had less of an issue with the ending of ME3 than most), I had had some significant expectations for this ostensibly new entry. Up until now, Mass Effect has been known to have an amazing and exceptionally well-built universe and set of characters and relationships. Andromeda carries on this tradition with a strong lead protagonist in the shape of Ryder and the journey you experience from her perspective. The basic summary of the story is that you are part of a Milky-Way comprised coalition of species who have travelled across the void of dark space to the separate galaxy of Andromeda, in search of a new home and new discoveries (with other motivations for the journey that are revealed later in the game).

You share the loss of Ryder's father, the shock at your apparently comatose brother and several other major revelations that impact her view of how and why she is on this mission at all. Beyond the personal story of Ryder, you encounter a range of allies and compatriots who team up with to on your quest to save the Milky Way mission and to provide assistance to the apparently native species of Andromeda called the Angarans battle against what appears to be an interloping force called the Kett. This is all with the background setting of an imposing and likely galactic wide “infection” that has been dubbed the scourge - an electromagnetic disturbance that has channeled it's way throughout the region of space you inhabit for the duration of the game (dubbed the “Helius” cluster - a section of the larger Andromeda Galaxy).

All of these elements play well together in the way that you are never feeling like you are on a linear pathway, but rather exposing and exploring a new frontier of events and characters. The relationships you build help to foster a significant amount of emotionality to the core narrative arc and gives a greater sense of buy-in to the major plot points and story moments in the main quest-line. The narrative itself does rely on several well-worn tropes, and typical hero's journey components, but done so in a way that feels novel and relevant for the context, for the most part. Your companions are also highly likeable and there is only one that I felt was significantly poorly realised in their dialogue and actions (Liam), but otherwise, the full crew you have is well fleshed out.

    Gameplay 8/10:
The gameplay is a massive change from the previous ME games, which I think is for the better. There Is more freedom of movement in the battle-space, and more options for cover (which feels fluid and natural) and for attack/defensive actions (the full array of powers you can learn and deploy is huge, and gives a good variance to play-style).

I found myself taking a largely typical “Infiltrator” style build for the most part (sniper, with stealth support), but found that the systems gave me a great amount of flexibility to bend the typical ME rules and limits of this style and mix it up with tech powers and biotics that only made the gameplay more dynamic and interesting (instead of stopping me from exploring various elements of action/gunplay/power deployment etc until the next playthrough).

When not in combat the interaction you have in the world is simple but effective for the main narrative purposes you are presented with. It, at first, does feel a little jarring going from absolute freedom of the battlespace (with rocket-powered jumping and hovering) to a very restricted movement area and interaction “hot-zones” but this division feels well balanced as you get used to it.

    A/V 9/10:
By far the most impressive aspect of the game. The quality of the character models, textures, lighting and detail of the environments and space scenes was really inspiring to see. There was a lot of care and time placed into the creation of this world and the inhabitants within, and it feels very satisfying to explore it all and soak up the visuals.

The audio is just as well crafted with appropriate, and unique feeling space atmospheric, soundtracks and sound effects to bring the whole world together to feel rich and lived in. This goes especially for the sound effects of the weapons, which consistently feel appropriate and give a sense of power and weight to each weapon/power.

    Overall 8.5/10:
I feel that this is a great continuation of the Mass Effect series and I really do hope that EA/BioWare take up and continue the story of Ryder and of the Andromeda Initiative again, despite all of the negative reactions from some fans on release. I applaud the developers for taking on some new ideas and bringing a freshness to this already very well established universe and game series!

I purchased the game on sale back in Jan 2018 and I am pleased I did.

I had fun with the first 3 instalment of Mass Effect and in truth, can't remember which one I preferred and why but in my opinion, it's still as much fun today with mass effect Andromeda. I have sunk tons of hours and now level 46 and soon ready to complete the latest main mission. I'll complete the game for sure

I have sunk tons of hours and now level 46 and soon ready to complete the latest main mission. I'll complete the game for sure but thought I had enough to write a review and believe it deserves it.

    What I liked is that:
    - it's big and somehow the main story, side missions and fighting keeps me interested all along
    - love the jetpack & various options to dispatch of the enemies, for me it does not get repetitive.
    - lots of choices at various mission with outcome you care and still enjoying the romance options
    - lots ( one could say almost too much ) dialogue & voice over ( though I should mention I went for the French version as I am bilingual) -> I don't listen to it all but I still enjoyed
    - graphic & science fiction setting are as good as ever.

I decided to purchase it on the PS4 as I was afraid my computer would not run it well and I had to adjust the TV resolution to 720dp and enable the zoom to make it comfortable to read and it's too bad they did not release a patch to allow to increase the font size but after a while I got used to it and it did not bother me as much. ( just zoomed in on occasion)

You could obviously expect more polish but considering the negative reviews, I was expecting a lot worse and was surprised to have so much fun. The glitch and weird animation that pops up just made me smile instead of Grinch -> no game breaking bug so far.

All in all, I say give it a chance on sale if you enjoyed the genre or previous mass effect games.

ME:A is a great addition to the ME series. It had the right amount of changes and they were done well. I've been looking forward to an open world ME game since ME1. ME:A is probably on the bottom of the list as far as ME games go but that doesn't mean it's not a bad game in the slightest. It has a very interesting story line, amazing combat, a decent if not steep learning curve, and your character is customizable to the littlest detail.

I have had discussions about ME:A with many people who have given it a bad score a lot of people give me the same reason; Bio got rid of everything about the old ME games. That is a problem... if you EXPECT this game to be anything like the old ones. I came into this game expecting something different. A different style, a different story, a different everything. The only thing tying the old ME games with ME:A is the fact that they are in the same universe. This is key. People come into ME:A expecting something like the old ME games and you cannot. This is it's own entity in its own right and if you go into it expecting the old ME experience, of course you're going to be disappointed. If you view the game as it's own entity with the only connection to the old games is the name, then you go into it with the proper amount of expectation.

Taking that into consideration, there were a few quests that were very boring and could be taken out and they could have put a lot more effort into crew quests and nexus quests. I feel if they make an addition to ME:A and they fix some of these minor issues with game play then they will have another title that I will put on the shelves with ME1,2, and 3.

But some things are terrible such as facial animations often look weird, unnatural and also cutscenes when you land and take off that you can't skip is really annoying. It does seem like an unprofessional game at times, it makes me wonder did they let their kids work on this game? And what happened to really good writing, story and interesting characters? It also seems like it's written by amateurs.
It also has weird glitches as in characters arms froze in a weird pose and Ryder drinks from an invisible glass at the bar.

The story is alright, nothing amazing. The story lacks meaningful depth and choices. Ryder is so one dimensional you can't even be a renegade.
    The characters are mostly forgetable.

I enjoy the combat in the game. It feels like they were trying to make a good FPS game and failed on making a good RPG with depth and choices that truly effect outcomes.
I also like exploring and discovering things. It looks amazing and fills me with a feeling of wonder and I do feel like Iam a Pathfinder.
A open world is great if they can make it full of interesting things as in meaningful side quests, but unfortunately it's full of mindlessly boring empty fetch quests. The side quest Tasks are the worst which are all very simular to each other such as have to find and scan 3 bodies that randomly appear at scavenger camps then get final location to go to or another is find 3 data pads then go to a final location. It leads to a lot of driving around as these bodies and other items appear randomly and have no quest markers for them. I got really sick of those side quests so stopped doing those as they only vary slightly as in just have to scan something different and drive around for ages trying to find them. I hate when they lack imagination for quests and just fill it with mindlessly boring quests that ad nothing but tedium.

Character creation doesn't seem to have many options. Can't even choose custom hair colour and if you choose any hair colour besides brown or black it looks like she has dark roots.

I still like and enjoy playing this game. The gameplay is mostly fun and enjoyable.
It had a nice solid game ending. Though it would of been nice to have choices that dramatically effect outcomes in the story resulting in various endings instead of just one.

I recommend the game as I enjoyed playing it mostly and would rate it 6/10 as game doesn't seem like it's made by professionals and it's lacking as a good RPG.

Mass Effect 1-3 were absolutely epic while Andromeda is just a, ultimately, waste of time. The story, again, was so dry and uninspired, the missions left you watching your freakin' ship land and take off over and over.. and over... and over again to go to planets you've already been to. I got 100% viability in my playthrough and was rewarded with a total menial cutscene. The world doesn't feel alive and the lack of any real conversations seriously hurts this game. There were several epic moments in the game, but the rest was dry, repetitive fetch quests that didn't make you feel like you were doing anything that mattered. The exploration was a great idea but unfortunately, due to completely incompetent management of the project, it ended up being a boring, albeit beautiful, installment in the Mass Effect Universe. I honestly don't understand why this game has such a low score--I played this game long after it was released, and I'm wondering if a lot of the technical issues were fixed after the reviews were written, or if I just got lucky on my rig. I really only have one bug (a green flashing when I load the game), which is easily solved by changing the video output.

Anyway, I feel like this may be my favorite Mass Effect game. The other reviews are correct--the facial animations are horrible, some of the walking/running animations are bad, the new characters aren't as interesting as the old ones (I really want Garrus back). Some of the dialogue is also pretty bad. That's why it's not 10/10...

HOWEVER: the combat is great, I honestly feel the best in the series, and exploration is hands-down the best in the series. Planets actually have some size to them--planets in the old games were always tiny and felt fake. Mining is also better in this one, far better than in previous titles (most similar to ME2, but it's on the ground this time). Since I play this game for combat and exploration, not for dialogue, these factors are more important.

And the story actually *is* innovative, more innovative than in the originals. What was the plot of the originals--save the galaxy from the bad aliens. We've done that a million times. What's the plot of this one? Explore a new galaxy, terraform and colonize planets to save your pioneers--while making friends and foes among new races. That's a much more original concept.

It's a real shame this game came out with all its technical problems, and that they didn't spend more time on the animations and writing. But for me, this is a great game and I love it.

The game has been properly fixed in time, and it is nowadays enjoyable from beginning to ending , but it lacks the mass effect feeling to it, less rpg and decisive, the game feels open world for all the wrong reasons. The action is probably 10 times better than it has ever been in Mass Effect.

And please... Don't kill me cos of my bad engrish... I'm from another galaxy... far... far away from Andromeda....

Bastante agradable jugar MEA

Very very very very disappointing. Have it played through, because I love this series. But that was it. Rip mass effect. I am very sorry for the grandiose story but that was really crap.

I've started and stopped playing this game multiple times now, which means it is somehow utterly boring enough to not hold my attention, and decent enough for me to come back to it. The story just isn't there.

The intern team took over the art department, and the story department. How did such a good franchise take such a tumble? Maybe millennial sjw's really did do a number. As much

Mass effect Andromeda is a good game , it had the best combat system of all mass effects, definitely in this point is amazing but also had a stupid bugs that make a experience of game disgusting.
Without this bugs Andromeda will be a game of 10.

Don't believe the haters. If you are concerned about some of the famous facial animations or bugs, most of them are fixed. If you liked the original trilogy I am sure you will like this too. I have spent 150 hours with this game already and it is well worth the full price.

The only regret I have is not buying it sooner. Highly recommended!

I was late to the party, purchasing this game in late Dec 2017. Now that I've completed it, I wanted to write a honest review. Overall I loved this game. It was just as good if not better than all the previous Mass Effect titles. I feel like the creators took everything that was good about the previous games and incorporated that into Andromeda. It was just as good if not better than all the previous Mass Effect titles. I feel like the creators took everything that was good about the previous games and incorporated that into Andromeda. I really enjoyed the character customization with the various skill trees, the research/development, and some of the other new things like Strike Teams, etc. I have to admin that I relied on Google to help me with some tutorials of the new systems, but I was able to find the information, understand, and enjoy them so I'm not docking them for that.

The storyline was a fun way to expand the ME universe. Going 600 years in the future, with no ability to contact the Milky Way galaxy. But you still have everything about the ME galaxy that went with the colonists to Andromeda, with all the new discoveries that the Helius cluster has to offer. Without giving away too many details, the actual events in the storyline were interesting and enjoyable.

Something I also enjoyed was the characters themselves and the dialogue between them. if you've played ME before, you know they already have done a great job with character development and making you truly care about these people. With Andromeda, they continued that great work. I thought that Andromeda had a lot more humor than the previous titles, and that may be because of the personality differences between Shepard and Ryder. It was a lot of fun, and I think it worked well.

I probably missed a lot of things in my review, but I wanted to write SOMETHING about this game because I feel that the critics got it all wrong and were way too harsh with the criticism. Something needed to be said. If you haven't checked out this game, I would definitely recommend it. Great work BioWare! Here's to hoping you guys make a sequel.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some parts of the game are repetitive, I liked the story, I liked the fact that the rett where the aliens that you where fighting, knowing that there was the arcont transforming them, we don't know for which reason, but we that the arcont is another alien race, I hope that in the next one will be on that race and maybe a married rayden? I didn't liked that the game was released before it was finished, because in my opinion they knew that animation sucks. Expand

Postcard-pretty landscapes is pretty much all that there is good about Andromeda. They serve as backdrops for a boring, cliche-ridden, somewhat demented story with forgettable characters and even more forgettable missions.

Enough of the classic Mass Effect, with enough new mechanics to keep the game fresh. [Hollingworth; Issue#261, p.55]

An earnest attempt has been made to create a new identity for a series here, but the question of how to best frame Mass Effect's narrative strengths is, once again, left open. [June 2017, p.90]
