Feb 17, 2026High on Life 2 accomplishes an incredibly rare feat, as it's a sequel that improves every single aspect of the original while forging its own unique path. The addition of the skateboard is a game changer, and the majestic insanity that you can concoct is just oodles of fun. Squanch Games had a lot of work to do in order to both distance itself from its creator and ensure the foundation was solid, which they did in spades. High on Life 2's absurd story, impeccable combat and beautiful world are just a few reasons to explore this sinfully funny shooter.

Feb 17, 2026High On Life 2 plays like an extended, interactive Rick and Morty feature, packed with relentless gags and offbeat dark humor. It carries forward the first game's anything-for-shock-value attitude, while new additions like the skateboard system and more varied weapon designs give its FPS foundation greater solidity.

Feb 17, 2026In the end, High on Life 2 understands what made the original work and pushes it forward in ways that actually matter.

Mar 10, 2026High on Life 2 delivers a more refined, witty humor and exhilarating skateboard mechanics, forging a uniquely entertaining experience. However, its combat remains simplistic and uninspired, with persistent performance issues, including frustrating bugs and framerate drops, unfortunately marring an otherwise imaginative artistic vision.

Mar 2, 2026High on Life 2 tries to be more of a videogame than High on Life ever was — and to be fair, it actually succeeds. The problem is that nobody really asked for that, especially since, when you strip it down, it’s still an average shooter that in this second iteration loses much of the meta‑ironic charge that defined the first game.

Feb 17, 2026High on Life 2 can be a pain when it comes to performance, but if you're willing to look past that, there's some decent gameplay wrapped in the funniest dialogue a game can have.

Edge MagazineMar 19, 2026As it stands, High On Life 2 makes a good case for throwing the baby out with the bathwater, then bleaching the tub. [Issue#422, p.114]
