Where you get harassed by wild and household animals every 5 meters except when you take a hunting mission and they practically disappear from the landscape. The landscape is fabulous and helicopter sightseeing is fantastic, especially because plane controls are terrible with mouse and keyboard. There is no rain so you can wash your cars with sponges, bare chested bald bullet sponges easily eating multiple high caliber bullets to the head. You'll be tasked to take down a family, but they will take you down first, 9 times, while you fly through the sky or hide in a bunker nobody ever heard of. At the end you'll face a choice, an important choice, whether or not start the final main mission to witness a pointless and unsatisfactory ending.

    Pros:
    - U.S.A. setting
    - Visuals are stunning
    - Well optimized
    - Side missions are varying and interesting
    - Characters are funny
    - Hunting, fishing (after you get high power gear)
    - Cars, helicopters
    - Chaotic firefights while chased by an airplane and wildlife at the same time
    - Free roaming
    - Mars setting in later DLC!

    Cons:
    - Constant harassment by enemies and wildlife
    - Terrible scripted main missions
    - Repeatedly getting abducted from anywhere (seriously, when you see the prompts, just stand next to a road and wait)
    - Not enough and underpowered weapons (i.e., no Vector SMG?)
    - Unable to carry more of .50 cal ammo and bait (due to balance?)
    - Story is basic and weightless
    - Ending(s)

Verdict: 7/10 - buy if you never played Far Cry before, wait otherwise (for patches and all-in-one release).

The story is nothing compared to other Far Cry releases (never had to skip cinematics before); graphics are "meh" for a game in 2018; the playtime is like 15-20 hrs with every side quest and collectibles; allied NPS's are dumb as hell; the game is less than 30 GB so everyone can imagine how small the map is; the announced DLC's are lame. I will have to go with "not recommend" for the simple fact that I did not have fun with this game, its story elements annoyed the hell out of me, they made very little sense and gave me a bad experience. I only finished the game so the 60 euros I paid would not be wasted, otherwise I wanted to stop after 35% completion.

Maybe the only positive things about the game is that it looks amazing and the voice acting is very good.
The non-linear story makes everything seem so generic and repetitive and the flow of things on each region identical to one another. Some parts of the story are straight out of science fiction books and the best way Ubisoft knows how to raise the difficulty is to make enemies bullet sponges and throw any common sense out of the window. The game's ending goes WTF all the way and makes no sense at all. Again they defy logic just for that unexpected factor.
Borrow this games from a friend, rent it or wait for a big sale but don't waste your money on the full price.

While I did not encounter game breaking bugs there were quite a few like car hitting dead wolf and flying into the air, a very strange experience with a plane twerking in the air, teleporting instantly on the ground than taking off directly with no speed gain required, mission objective not being completed properly.
In the beginning I had on average 55 FPS in 4K but the game kept complaining to update my graphics drivers. After the update it dropped 15 fps in 4K to 40 on average, even less and I was forced to play in 1080p.

Most of the time the enemies just appear out of thin air (enemy spawning is crazy) they run to your face without cover they even just crash their cars all the time while following you they are hilariously stupid. Game has 3 endings and all of them are bad (not going to spoil them for you). Game also includes Denuvo DRM which i hate with passion also includes micro-transactions (another thing that i hate) and some annoying bugs. They ask 60 dollars/euros for this sorry but it feels like a scam. It's like playing a mod of Farcry 4 and not a new game. (Didn't bother with multiplayer) Expand

There is no character development, there are barely any characters to speak of. All people are bland stereotype goodies/baddies. The Father is dull as heck. The gameplay was also horrible. They've removed the towers but instead the game is choped in to a million pieces almost completely disconnected. The game says everyone will get a unique experience but that's incredibly poorly realized. They've added a whole conditioning mechanism which is an incredibly poor excuse to drive the game forwards. You are messing around, flying, driving, sometimes even in the middle of a mission and the game goes "Well, it's time to cut to black" And you are literally instantly teleported to where you need to be to progress the story. And that happens all the fin time. You just start to enjoy what you are doing and the game teleports you somewhere on a seemingly random place. All characters including you teleport around and do what the story needs them to do regardless of previous occurrences or positioning. They are captured seconds after you've rescued and secured them in a river of blood. It's a nonsensical progression that has been cheeply disguised under something im sure they thing incredibly clever: Drugs and mind conditioning. But thats a game. It's supposed to be a fun joy ride and not "Hyh" moment every time a cut scene starts. Additionally the AI is the worst imaginable, and the game relies overly much on it to progress on some missions. I've failed missions multiple times just because lets say an AI decides to land a chopper on the water and destroys a mission important vehicle. What follows is a reset. The open design now feels restricted. With old Far Cry games most boarders felt natural. It was rare for the game to stop you forcefully and here happens all the time if you move few centimeters away from the bound of the map or the mission to improvise. I love Far Cry 2, 3 and 4. I find them exceptional games. Far Cry Primal is ok, nothing much to rave about. But this game disappointed me so badly. And the progression .... because they know people don't like to do all activities the game is like this time you don't gain experience but we will force you to fish and try to do chain takedowns with the retarded AI or yeah and to use the AI partners if you with to get points. And i can't count the times how many times an partner AI sits face to face with an enemy watching him stupidly and the next second turns around and starts shooting in my position and blowing a near by barrel pretty much killing me instantly, or a vehicle, or just shoots to the bad guys through me. Piece of advice use the animals, they don't drive and are bloody killing machines. I've taken outposts sitting behind the bush and the bear slaughtering everything in sight. So the freedom is disguised with cheap plot devices. The AI is shoved in your face but it's terrible. The story is boring. The setting is bland (no offense fake Montana), and lets not forget OP weapons, i played with 1 sniper and one Rifle from start to end. and the end was running in the middle of firefights shooting from the hip mowing down baddies.

But the music was really good so 2

If you know and are aware of the Far Cry series, this is just as formulaic as the others. This is a fun, turn your brain off adventure that will challenge your creative side. The lessons learned from previous games is evident. It has been greatly improved. There is still room in regards to customization of your gear, but this is one of those games that has taken queues from the community to improve and did so.

The most important thing, ALL of the potential political fear about this game is unfounded. It goes out of its way to avoid anything to the effect. To the benefit of the game. I would have probably just rolled my eyes and shut it off if it got too preachy. I play games to get away from the constant news feed. THANK YOU UBISOFT! We have had a dicey relationship, but you did right with this one.

The story isn't overly complex, or deep. Just like every other Far Cry game. The characters are somewhat sympathetic, but not to the point that compared to Vas. They peaked with Vas when it came to interesting characters, but i think it might be as much the actor as the script. Each of them does have their own appeal/revulsion and it is quite clear what is good and what is bad. Very white hat/black hat.

Finally, THEY DID DLC RIGHT! This got an extra +1 from me for actually not having ANY of the DLC a direct connection to the main game. It isn't slices of the full game separated off. It is TOTALLY side stories that only tangentially connect to the main game. They haven't been released yet, but you can see where they come from.

To be vague and not spoil anything, the three are "Dead Living Zombies" probably relates to the drug storyline. "Hours of Darkness" a Vietnam story, seems to be tied to a sidequest about a Vietnam vet. I'm guessing his past. Finally, "Lost on Mars" seems to be tied to another sidequest that is a strange science fiction X-Files type.

So yea. Fun game. Not overly complex Far Cry storyline. If you are looking for deep storytelling, you wouldn't be considering a Far Cry game.

Gun mechanics sucks - big time. I liked how it worked in Far Cry 1 - in the realistic difficulty mode. You were shot, you were dead. You shot someone, they were dead. Not here, though. All the gun have an air gun feel to them. You can unload a few bullets into someones head and see them walk away. Also, accuracy is crap meaning no matter what your skills, except for a few weapons (e.g. the magnum pistol) you will be frustrated. My wife gave up on this, as she is a more demanding player. I decided to continue in singlaplayer. This whole "bliss" crap made me give up.

The whole story is crap, but okay, I can live with that if I am not fricking forced to sit through all the cut scenes. Not here, though - the lame, boring, exhausting cut scenes involving the forgettable and boring NPCs are not fricking skippable. I am here to play for 30 mins after i am back from work and the last thing I want is to be forced to watch minutes of boring cutscenes. Sorry, but no more Far Cry for me. This is a piece of ****

Games are really similar, it's logical, the series has its own niche, even its genre, in which there is no competition today. Therefore, I will not again raspinatsya on this topic, and I will not reduce the Far Cry 5 assessment for the fact that it is similar to Far Cry 4. I'd rather focus on what is good and new in the game. This time we go to Hope County, Montana - the northern state on the border with Canada. A picturesque peaceful place with clear lakes, dazzlingly beautiful mountains and forests. Here there are plenty of wild places where time flows slowly, and people live a simple village life. But, of course, with the typical American features: checkered sleeveless jackets, crumpled baseball caps, shotguns in pickup trucks and oversized patriotism in the heads.

Visual coloring Far Cry 5 works on the top ten. The nature of virtual Montana hits the heart - this is one of the most beautiful games this year, and in our time it's hard to surprise the picture. It is pointless to describe this. Mountain rivers, wheat fields and impenetrable coniferous forests are perfectly combined with well-maintained farms, pastures and tiny towns, creating an incredibly cozy, warm atmosphere. Even despite the GTA-chaos.

And it's not so much in technology, as in the scrupulous manual work of the authors of the game - for all these years Ubisoft still got a hand and learned how to make worthy, sticky open worlds. The finest elaboration here in everything - from natural species, to interiors and the installation of street lamps. Far Cry 5 is very nice to watch. Always. It's nice to listen to it, because the game performed perfectly on three sides: an excellent sound design, an excellent original soundtrack from Dan Romer and a crazy selection of licensed tracks - the best punk playlist in games since the times, probably FlatOut 2. The ending to Mass Effect 3 was better, and reflected your choices from the game more. Probably the best Far cry game yet, there are some minor bugs but considering that this is at release some are to be expected nothing game breaking from my time spent in game, here are the list of all the good and bad points in my opinion.

    THE GOOD:
    1. The graphics are phenomenal, I am running it maxed out on a GTX 1080, easily getting 100+ frames consistently, & it is one of the best looking games I have ever played, especially the environment.
    2. The models for the firearms are the best I have ever seen especially on the AK,
    3. The only recent game to have a such an open world allowing you to play through the story from any 3 directions, (there are some minor annoying sequences that can not be avoided for the sake of story progression)
    4. Freedom of movement, method and variety of gear and vehicles was great.
    5. lots of available support characters,
    6. loads of side quests/content available if you want to explore the world more.
    7. decent bullet physics, (it auto-ranges based on aim-point with all sights to make it simpler to aim, but you can see the bullet drop effect at least, and the shot delay is accurate.
    8. COOP through the whole story mode if you want, it is awesome. they finally got this right (wish the range was a little wider though)
    9. multiplayer is there, and has potential one of its most exciting features is that you can create your own maps and share them with the community. it is a great idea.
    10. voice acting is great, and the main characters are will acted, the other NPCs also have very good voice acting.
    11. they removed all the tedious repetitive animations, for skinning picking stuff up etc: makes playing the game a whole lot more fun and a lot less chore like as in previous games (you had to go through a 2-5 second animation every time you picked something up or skinned an animal)

    THE BAD:
    1. The ending OMFG (not saying anymore due to spoilers) if ME3 made you angry, oh boy...
    2. Weapon damage values are odd and immersion breaking, 5.56 is fractionally better than pistols for damage at range --> 5.56 rifles need to be buffed, 7.62x39 AK is stronger than a .308 (7.62x51) in this game? um.... no, the DMR styled weapons in this game need a buff the .50 needs to one shot anything walking heavy armor too... for immersion sake, you can compensate by making the AI aim better.
    3. the fixed events required to continue the story, are pretty forceful when you do hit one (every dot on the map faction progression bar) you stand no chance of getting away, and there is no point in delaying it anyways.
    4. the seed family's back story could have been explored more.
    5. would like a little more firearms selection instead of the same 3-4 firearms with different skins, you could put other readily available weapons from the area into the game for ex: SKS, Ruger mini/Ruger mini 30, Browing HP, various other makes of bolt action, like a varmint bolt action chambered in .223 (5.56), or classical hunting rifles, Winchester model 70, Remington 700 etc. Glocks, Berettas, a vector, FNFAL, FN SCAR H/L, HK416, G3/G4, G34, Swiss arms SG5xx Series. Lee Enfield, Springfield, M1 Grand in 30-06,
    6. AI is a little on the easy side, they do dumb stuff get stuck and are picked off easily, on any difficulty.
Great game really shines in single player, and COOP is much improved from previous games, multiplayer has potential but could do better, fore ex: (a class based progression system with weapon unlocks on larger maps like a Farcry battlefield with 24 people on each team would be great idea).
got my monies worth out of it, glad Ubisoft did not screw this up, it has its faults but I would call it a clear success and a great game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to like this game. i really really do...all they had to do was give me a game that was fun and exciting and just had tons to do with a good story. Something missing from Farcry 3...4...and especially Primal.

This game's world is big, entertaining, and lush. There's things happening all the time and it's easy to get lost in it. But then when you actually start gaining resistance points....you get railroaded into a "captured" mission. These stupid sequences interrupt everything you're trying for...going fishing? Too bad...wanna hide from the capture parties? Oh well....you can't defned yourself, you can't hide, and you can't escape them. It dampens your fun.

The reall killer though is the story and how it ends. You've finally come face to face with Joseph Seed....it's time for the final confrontation

    A. You turn around and leave

    or

    B. You capture him...he blows up Hope county...and then takes you prisoner to start his cult again

This left such a sour taste in my mouth....literally, everything I did was for NOTHING. There is no closure...all the torture, the brainwashing, the literal agony your character goes through....and you don't get ANY closure. Furthermore, after the credits....well, you can do all the side stuff in hope county...but there's no one left to shoot, all the bad guys are now gone....it becomes empty and boring.

Again, I wanted to enjoy this game...I loved some of the characters (Hurk is still as awesome as ever) and some missions are just too insane for words (reclaiming the Widowmaker)....but the story just ruins all hype I had for this game...to the point where I regret getting it.

    5. This game lacks of guns. There's only about two proper assault rifles - AR-C and AK-M and those too also aren't so good too.
    6. Those f*****g microtransactions. Although you simply can buy everything with in-game currency, the prices for weapons and cars (boats, planes) skins are insanely high.
    7. No more crafting. Instead of that you have to make lots of stupid challenges to get perk points and with those you can unlock new abilities like extra gun slot, carry more ammo, swim faster, walk silently etc. (sp for example: you wanna get 3 perk points? kill 15 enemies with flamethrower, wanna get another 2 or 3 points? hunt down 3 grizzlies etc...).

I haven't tried co-op, although I've read lots of forum about how stupid it is, when someone joins friend's game there's no story progression, no guns progression etc... For me Far Cry always been about singleplayer and I still think it's worth buying it. You'll get lots of different quests, great gameplay there's really a lot of doing in this game.

EDIT: Those gamers who says it's too easy, put difficulty on hard, turn off x-ray vision and indicators as well. Then the gameplay, for example liberating outposts will be pain in the ass, no joke.

However, if you changed the difficulty to hard in the first minutes, it will take one or two bullets to kill you after the game drains your health on purpose. You will be constantly using med packs as enemies kill you instantly. My FC5 experience started off with a brief mission that I needed to try at least 8 times. After that, expect to be killed almost instantly by flamethrowers. No matter how well you did in FC4, expect to play with medium or easy difficulty. You won't be able to complete the missions with a bow this time. As soon as you shoot someone, enemies magically know where you are and will rush at you.

There is no minimap, so you will most likely wander around with no real purpose, wondering what you're supposed to do. The enemy presence is absolutely insane. If you walk on the road, expect a truck full of enemies to drive by you every 10 seconds. I'm not having fun with FC5 at all. If you enjoyed FC4 like I did, keep playing FC4.

That's unfortunately where I believe it ends for Far Cry 5. Following the success of Far Cry 3 and the memorable antagonist Ubisoft have basically made the series about the antagonists, so much so that in Far Cry 5 there is actually zero back story to the character you play, you're just known as "Rookie" or "Rook", the story is about the bad guys as usual not about you.

The AI isn't perfect by a long shot, and in fact at times have proven to be more of a liability by getting in the way, starting a gun fight when we're supposed to be quiet and just generally getting in the way. There really isn't too much going into the back story of any of you're "companions" either, all you'll basically know is there names, a small piece about them and what the specials are.

The enemy AI has eagle eyed vision, they literally can see you from a mile off at times way before you see them, considering you're the one approaching it's a bit unfair at times. Especially when the game decides to drop you smack in the middle of a bunch of mobs.

Faith's area frustrated me greatly, i get the whole drug area but I should be concerned about being spotted, or killed by peggies not having to keep one eye open just in case a bear decides to spawn next to me, kinda spoilt it a little. Also some NPC's have bugged and not done what they were supposed to be doing (ie instead of using the radio at the tower I escorted him to he just stood there) so I've had to reload from the last checkpoint a number of times.

Until you've liberated an area going along the road is just too much trouble, I once stent 20 minutes trying to get out of an area I've fast travelled to because there was several patrols and a bunch of planes all in that area.

No actual online co-op aside from having people on your friends list? Kinda **** considering you can make your own maps, you have a pvp section and all to me that's a big piece missing. If they are planning on adding this then they need to do this now because in a months time we're going to be playing something else.

At least it doesn't rape your CPU like Origin's does.

I'm 50 hours into the game, and I'd say I'm about 60% into the campaign, with a LOT more to do beyond that. I'm going to play the game for at least 100 more. Here's why.

Simply walking in Hope County is AMAZING. The level of immersion, the beautiful surrounding, the living and breathing environment is everything I could have hoped for within an open world game. I'm even enjoying fishing, which I thought I wouldn't care for.

There's plenty to be done, but I think the best way to do it is to just stroll around the map, reach places you haven't been before, and tackle the nearest objective - be it a prepper stash looking to be uncovered, a cult outpost to liberate, a story mission or just the occasional civilian that's about to be killed unless you save them. This is immersion at its best, and the design decisions Ubisoft had made into the game are nothing short of spectacular.

There are a few cons to the game, however, which is why I mentioned it deserves a 9. First of all, the story lacks the depth I would expect from such a setting; There's no emotional attachment to any of the characters - not really; And there are quite a few bugs - some graphics glitches and some audio problems around your guns for hire talking between them. But despite all that, I'm having a total blast.

I found many of the hating comments so hilarious that I have to react -
    1. "This is like Far Cry N" - DUH. What did you expect? To get Uncharted 4? If you don't like the Far Cry franchise, don't buy this game. It's better than the rest of them in terms of how the open world is set, and it's worse than some of them in terms of story. That's all.
    2. "Game is too easy" - I don't find it extremely easy on the Hard difficulty, but this isn't Dark Souls. This is not the same genre, simply put.
    3. "There's no direction" - Unbelievable. This is not CoD. This is an open world game. The whole idea is not to have a direction, but to make your own story.

I could go on and on, but this is ridiculous. You should buy this game - it's awesome. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going back to ruining Joseph Seed's day.

If you really paid attention to the story and you know all 3 endings, especially the "big" ending..it should leave you thinking and wondering like a good story does It's a mixture of mind control and religious freaks and they did a good job with the protagonists.

I wont get into the plot specifics or talk about the story but it is passable if not really anything we have not seen before. The real area where the game shines is in the expended game play options and the visual presentation. It looks gorgeous even on modest hardware and is very well optimized on even cheaper hardware.

The game is also nicely multi threaded with load being distributed fairly evenly even on a 16 thread processor. ultra settings at 1920 x 1080 and 60 fps is more than achievable with a mid range GPU ( Something like a RX 480 / 570 or GTX 1060 will have no trouble at 1080p)
The game also uses around 3Gb of VRAM at max settings at Full HD though meaning that you may need to turn down the settings if you are running an older card with 2GB of frame buffer.

The game world is open from the get go and is more of a sandbox - with no tower climbing to populate the map. missions and side quests are found by talking with the population of Hope County and this change alone adds to the games immersive nature. In saying that Far Cry 5 never takes itself too serious - perhaps why the story never really delves too deep into political issues - but this is all done in the name of fun.

    Which is most certainly is.

All in all its a gorgeous game, fantastically optimized and lets you loose in a dense, opportunity full sandbox wrapped up in a story that never gets too intrusive.

It feels larger than ever before, action moments are more frequent and the presentation is top notch.

If you like Far Cry games you will like this. it's not a revolution but it when it gets its hook's in you.. it's Bliss.

The story is deeper than the harshest critics are allowing. It is well thought out and may seem shallow if you are hell bent on picking it apart....but remember we are here for escapism not a literature study. Its fun, cohesive and climatic in the scope of this game.

Gameplay is superb. Like in most Ubi games, it has all what you'd expect and its executed flawlessly thus far. It runs very well and havn't experienced any optimization problems. I am on a GTX 1070 and I'm 60fps+ on ultra.

15 hours in, the game is still a riot of a good time. If you are familiar with the FC series, this setting is as wonderful, open and teaming with wildlife. I like it more than the acclaimed Far Cry 3 tropical setting. While its not as big, in my opinion its much richer. With the countless trails, lakes, rivers, mountains, forests, vistas farms and cabins. It has it all.

I can honestly say that this purchase has been worth it so far as I have not even tried the Arcade Mode in which players create maps and objectives for pvp. While that area deserves its own review, don't convolute the two.

Far Cry 5 is worth a buy in my opinion.

Other than that FarCry 5 is an absolute blast to play. The shooting mechanics have been changed massively compared to the previous games. Weapon ballistics make the game much more realistic and the gunplay way more satisfying. This in combination with the improved hunting mechanics alone allowed me to enjoy hours of roaming in the gorgeous setting of Hope County, Montana without following the main quest.

There is a lot of stuff to do in the campaign and in my opinion the story and side missions are quite varied and fun. I really enjoy the new exploration focus and the removal of the minimap.

I think the Far Cry 5 is decent game but after playing it for while it starts to get rather tedious since i cannot help but to notice similiar types of setups from previous far cry games.

Far Cry 5 has new world, new main quest and side quests and the world feels quite lively at times now that things are happening around you all the time.

But if you are familiar with the francise you pretty much have understanding what you are gonna have to do in this game, same old same old. There still is tower climing involved, but this time they are not there for sakes of scanning the map, but for side quest persey.

Biggest complaint with Ubisoft this time around is that i've ordered mondo edition package for pc which comes with a vinyl which was pretty cool. But there was no option for a physical copy for the pc orders, so the mondo box for pc came with a vinybox (Vinyl inside) and a empty steelbox (no map, manual or cd inside). It seems though i didnt get my moneys worth from this order.

What kind of practice is this? If everything goes towards digital, do you just send empty collector boxes overseas!?

Aint gonna buy from Ubisoft after this, most games are average.

There are some missions, but there's a lot of blow-up-this-thing-on-the-map, and kill-all-the-enemies-at-this-place-on-the-map. These can get boring if you're not that into the shooting.

I couldn't find ways to do much stealth. I think more experienced players learn ways to do more stealth, since you are rewarded for killing all the enemies at an outpost without sounding an alarm.

I agree with the critic that said this was Ubisoft's best game ever. It's DEFINITELY the best out of the FC series. It's like if you took everything good about Far Cry and shook it up with a bit of GTA5. I mean GTA5 is incredible and epic (almost flawless?) and pretty much in a class of its own but I see nods in this game for sure. No game has torn me away from PUBG since it was in early pre-release and this one did it! It was obvious that Ubisoft took consumer feedback into consideration in every step of this game. No more climbing towers!

DUNIA looks amazing and barely uses any space with such a huge game, the graphics are on point, it's clearly been optimized for both the red and green team. I mean from day 1 I haven't experienced any glitches or crashes... That might even be a first with Ubisoft?

The only downside is yes, the plot falls flat a bit at times but some of the script writing and voice acting is just over the rails hilarious (in a good way). The game has me saying WTF an awful lot! The progression system is good - you play for weapon unlocks, perk rewards and cash. Cash can buy you weapons, vehicles, and other miscellaneous (like fly fishing rods!) items early if you bank enough. There are micro-transactions but they are kinda in the background and totally not necessary to use which is how it should be. There are lots of attachments for the vast array of weapons. Overall I am really impressed!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a shame that people don't understand the deeper meaning of this game's magnificent storyline. It puts the whole world in another perspective. A perspective that we in the real world should consider could actually be for the better. As it's maybe how it always was supposed to be before we created what earth is today. A place we created, soon a place we destroyed. Joseph was actually trying to do the right thing. The thing no one dares to do or speak loud about. He was trying to save the human race from ourselves. Don't get me wrong, I'm not insane. But life is precious and I'm not sure we have as much time as we think we have left to appreciate this beautiful gift we've been given. Because in the end, we will all die under the same feet of our own race. Just because we didn't have faith in each other. And of the cause, the ending is supposed to hit you this way. It's simply there to make you feel stupid because all the effort you went through with killing endless amount of people who actually just tried to save us from extinction is surely something that goes against ''gods will''. Cause, in the end, Joseph turns out as the good guy when he offers redemption ''in the eyes of god'' from our sins we've made throughout the whole game. This is clearly why there's no good ending. Cause why should there be a good ending when we were the bad guys all along? Expand

The player must now work his/her way thought numerous main and side quests, the majority of which boil down to either following an NPC and clearing some area occupied by the enemy, or going to find and retrieve something the individual which gave you the mission has lost or needs.

The story of this game could have been very, very intriguing if it had followed a more focused mission format where the player truly feels the mission which he/she is undertaking is worth their while, and not for the sole purpose of building up enough RP (Resistance Points) to progress in the main story. This interrupts the flow of the game, where when the player finally has progressed far enough to view one or two very thought-provoking cut scenes, ones that make the player truly question the morality of what it is they are doing, the game automatically cuts any chance to dwell on these questions raised by the antagonists and place them back into the open world where they must, once again, build up enough RP via fetch quests and etc to progress further in the story. By the end of the game, the player truly feels like he/she has had enough of the game and simply rushes to complete the story because of how similarly it plays out for each of the three regions.

The map of Hope County has been divided into three separate regions with two islands in the middle. Two or three hours into the game, the player can notice the lack of anything intuiting, where the majority of the land mass is composed of trees and hills, with buildings here and there. The map, because of this, feels very small, and the player cannot help but feel cramped in the roads where he/she will encounter the enemy what feels like every thirty seconds (This is not exaggerated, when the player travels by road, the game truly plays out this way).

The majority of what made the previous two main installments Far Cry games has also been removed for a more simplistic alternatives. Crafting, once a great way to improve ones' player and give them a real, solid reason for them to go out and hunt the diverse wildlife these games has been removed, save a few explosives and homeopathic medicine which can be crafted to aid in the players game play. The mini map has also been replaced with a bar at the top of the player's interface which does not really help with anything, and often fails to highlight key things like collectibles and even vehicles. It does, however, highlight enemies when few have been left in the area where the player is, so he/she may track them down without a problem, but even that comes of little use when the dog companion, Boomer, can simply dag them and make them glow red so they may be visible behind objects and buildings.

Although this game does offer micro-transactions, they never feel as if they come in the way of the player's experience as they are reserved for purely cosmetic purposes, cosmetics which can also be purchased with virtual, in game dollars the player has accumulated over the course of the game.

Overall, Far Cry 5, although it carried nuggets of what could have been a spectacular game, tries too hard to try new things which simply do not pay off. The villain, although an intriguing character which does have valid points of the many things he talks about, is wasted on a mute character which simply stares at him while he is talking and has nothing to say. It is in these times where the silence becomes especially evident the player realizes how great the game could have been if the player were able to communicate with some of the strongest characters in the entire franchise instead of wordlessly absorb everything they say. The reason player found the previous entries so intriguing was because of he odd relationships between the protagonists and the antagonists like the menacing and crazed Vass and Jason Brody, or even Ajay Ghale and the comedic and often times oddly protective Pagan Min. The relationship between the antagonist and the protagonist was what made players want to keep playing these games, listening to the conversations they had with each other and how it reflected their personalizes.

Far Cry 5's biggest problem is the developer's desire to give the player a different experience, one which the players are not willing to partake in because of the numerous flaws the game has as well as the tedium it brings with it which, after finishing the game, just makes them feel like something is missing.

While the storyline at times is pure sensationalised fiction it is saved by the authentic acting that allows for immersion to resurface. There are also some major flaws in logic (e.g. Where does everyone live?) in the environment and story but granted it's a 'Far Cry' game it's best to just ignore these. Side Activities become boring after the first 2-3 tries.

Shooting and gameplay mechanisms aren't particularly bad or good. For precision shooting I find myself always using a mouse. For Vehicles (especially Helicopters or Planes) and Open World exploring I suggest a controller.

It's important to note that Map design is particularly bad as you're always clustered between the next wild animal or enemy AI. This overpopulation does not fit at all with the geographical area and does get frustrating both for gameplay and immersion.

I was also pretty sad to see the core mechanism of crafting removed and substituted by a simplistic perk design. Considered this iteration doesn't drift too far away in all other areas from its predecessors I would have liked them to keep the original system.

Microtransactions are present in the game but serve more of a cheat engine than as aiding the core of the game.
I found it pretty easy to ignore them and suggest others to do the same. Just download a trainer in the future or something because it's nothing more than cheating.

Overall having played and enjoyed all iterations of Far Cry, I would tie this one with FC4 or Primal. It's a game you will most likely finish but hardly remember. This is mainly due to the fact that 'Far Cry' series for me has always felt like taking a 'vacation' in an adventurous place and unfortunately Montana does not possess enough intriguing or mystic attributes to keep me hooked. I also really despise the big purple truck. This ain't Saints Row c'mon.

Great characters throughout the story. The story can at times seem a little muddy, and some times the game rips you out of what you're doing to keep telling the story, and it's annoying. But you get use to it. Felt like we had a huge pay off that wasn't too predictable in the end. Which i enjoyed.

AI is straight up terrible at times though. That is worth mentioning. But most of the time it was decent enough.

The shooting in general feels good.

While the game has micro-transactions, not a single one of them was appealing to me as i don't care for playing too much around with cosmetics. I'm in it for the action and the story.

Took me 16 hours to complete the story plus a large chunk of the side quests, but still had some left when i finished the game.

Lands of a 8 due to the clunky storytelling and the slightly poor AI. Only because 7.5 isn't a score on here :-(

    Large open world
    Beautiful vistas and scenery
    Multiplayer features

    Cons

Premium Currency for a single player game
    Buggy and Glitchy
Enemies spawning in front of you to ruin any immersion
    Poorly implemented co-op
    Predictable A.I

Far Cry 5 isn't a bad game, but it's not exactly groundbreaking or really offering anything new. Basically in a nutshell, if you like Far Cry 3, you'll most likely like this because there really isn't that much difference. The problems that FC5 has right now is exceptionally glitchy physics, the current player deaths I've all suffered so far have all been ragdoll physics bugging out, such as trucks bouncing around the road, or opening a truck to save some hostages and then being knocked high into the sky. The A.I is fairly bad too, almost all peggies will follow a set path or act dimwitted so the player can easily mow down a ton of them or sneak around easily for a takedown attack. The only real difficulty comes from taking down outposts silently and stealthfully for the bonuses, even that isn't so hard once you get a few powerful weapons with suppressors aka a sniper rifle.

The story, although controversial for some people is quite believable and I'm happy that a publisher finally decided to face religious extremism topics without backing down to SJWs or pressure.

The co-op feature is unfortunately quite useless unless you have *a lot* of friends who own the game, and are on at the same time. Please don't buy this game if you think you'll enjoy the co-op feature, because it is highly likely you'll never get to play Co-Op at all, this really needs a drop in/drop out system because as is right now, it's useless.

Another issue is the MicroTransactions system, it is pretty insidious - You can find Silver Bars in safes but they are quite rare, and almost everything in the shop can be purchased with premium currency, even ammo! Ammo is one of the points I want to make a strike against the game, you cannot carry much ammo at all, far far less than previous FC games even with perks you don't get that much ammo, and the real kicker here is that it is expensive to replenish so your forced to conserve ammo as much as possible, and hunt random peggies to steal ammo, or hunt down the prepper caches.

My biggest concern right now is that even after doing all the current content, all the missions and side content is that I doubt you will have enough money to unlock everything. Another major issue is the enemy spawn rate, I've seen countless times already peggies or animals literally pop up from thin air or from off the side just out of your characters vision arc, just enough to keep wasting your precious ammo.

Overall, FC5 is above average but it isn't groundbreaking, it isn't as good as previous games simply because of the bugs and the microtransactions. Publishers will need to understand a major fact, for any triple A release these days that has extra MTs for a primarily single player game needs to understand that the ratings will be lower because of that, especially when compared to previous games.

One thing that's peculiar is that this has to be the most diverse town in Montana. Both the protagonists and antagonists are quite diverse (not saying this is bad at all). But it definitely takes away some immersion. Some fans thought this would be an opportunity to fight against potential racists or Nazi-like regimes. That's until you realize that there are persons of color in every corner of every faction of every part of Hope County. There is also an equal amount of men and women on both sides. I admire Ubisoft for trying to make sure that this game doesn't offend too many fans, but with that in mind, it makes for very very limited creativity. Far Cry 5 is fun. But it's nothing different. If there was anything very bad about this game, it's the A.I. Oh gawd, that A.I. You'd have to see it to believe it. Overall, it's a very beautiful game that runs great on a decent PC rig. Enemies are pretty generic as-well, mostly copy pasted versions with different beards.

Crafting has been removed for upgrading stuff like your wallet etc which isn't a good thing imo, hunting is just another way to make money, that's it, of which money doesn't get you much, as there isn't much to actually buy other than the expensive things like vehicles which are just re-skinned versions of one another.

    - They removed too many features and didn't replace them with anything interesting to fill the void, hell even more weapons to buy would of been nice as it's lacking pretty bad.

You're simply running around the world mindlessly doing a quest here and there and it just feels bland as you're constantly running into enemies that chase you, like how Police in GTA act when you're at 5 stars.

The perk system is pretty generic, etc more health, more ammo.

The game has so much potential but unfortunately it falls really short, specially the story, it should of been expanded into a more interesting story, but even that feels generic.

Most of the quests are go here, kill these guys etc.

I am extremely disappointed, unfortunately DLC won't even expand upon the main games story-line which could of been so great.

    - Value for money is simply not here, I'd wait for a sale if I could go back knowing about the game.

Spawning difficulty is also issue. Enemy can spawn in house where you just clear a second ago.

    Gameplay:
Same old Far Cry, open world, etc. not much to talk about. We got new location ok?

    Story:
It follow Far Cry 4 story style. Best ending is when you do nothing at the start of the game, the other ending never end 'good' for you. And the ending make no conclusion or event a little sense, the whole game feel like a prolong of something after the ending. It also suffer a lot from 'cutscene' syndrome where player turn into helpless dude or suddenly lost his intelligent and nolonger function as a reasonable human being. (think Dying Light's cutscene)

    Character:
Great villian as always (although many 'cutscenes' kill a lot of immersion).

This didn't feel like a finish product or even a sequel, it feel like a DLC. It's don't deserve your 60$, maybe a 30$ for how little it improve. But with it aggressive microtransaction that put some free-to-play game to shame, I feel like Ubisoft should 'PAY' me to play this MMO grinding feast.

Too much damn action. Does everything that was done right in far cry 3 and 4 and more. Only this time you can't drive for 1 minute without getting assaulted by two trucks full of cultists doing drive-by's on you.

Gameplay wise, It is great. The shooting mechanics are solid and feel satisfying without overdoing it. The AI could use some work though. I found some occasions where I felt like I was dealing with GTA V AI flying off the road when I start shooting. Also the game seemed like playing on hard was a healthy medium for me because the AI have such a hard time spotting you if you're careful. Sometimes I would peek out of a bush and shoot multiple RPG's at them and they wouldn't know where it would be coming from. Although there are some drawbacks in that field, the AI still know how to flank attackers, hide in the forest and get the jump on you, and their air support... one of the biggest most exhilarating things in this game is dealing with air support. Being creative in your encounters is encouraged and usually rewarded if executed correctly.

The CO-OP is almost a necessity when playing this game. Tackling through different bases with a friend might seem like a boring repetitive thing to do but we always had every fight go differently. Some encounters went as planned and some went very, very wrong. It is really helpful to have a friend back you up especially when **** hits the fan and they call reinforcements, shooting flares up through the air as helicopters and fighter planes rain death from above. When playing CO-OP, there is a tethering system meaning that you can only be so far from your partner otherwise you and your partner get sent back to the loading screen. There is a warning screen saying that you are too far away but when I am on air support duty and my friend is on the ground, i get that warning screen far too often and it becomes pretty annoying.

The new perk system they introduced is ok. Nothing too crazy. Almost like it was a downgrade from Far Cry 3s perk system. This makes getting perks only rewarding from having the extra ammo slots and extra health. So what happened to crafting? Crafting is pretty much thrown away and replaced by this dumbed down perk system except there is one perk that allows you to craft explosives and other home-made goodies but thats it.

The story of Far Cry 5 is more or less a repeat of what happened in 3 but with different characters. Some of the traditional drug trips are introduced along with other elements directly taken from the 3rd game. I dont want to spoil anything so really the only other thing I can say is that the story is VERY predictable. Almost like they didn't even try to surprise the player.

Overall, This game is an innovative piece of artwork with solid mechanics and gameplay with a couple issues with the AI and CO-OP.

Yes, there is micro-transactions in the game. It kind of blows my mind why they even added them in because it completely defeats the purpose of hunting/fishing in the wilderness and selling animal pelts/fish/skin for money which can be spent on having personal vehicles, weapons, and other tools. The items do not really seem inflated or influenced my the micro-transactions at all considering everything doesn't really need any hardcore grind for. It seems like the traditional shop in previous Far Crys that had shops. Its just another reason for people to just hate on this game when it doesn't need to even be there in the first place.

I know this review is a little early but this is just my personal take on the games release so far.

    Gameplay/Mechanics: 8.5
    Story: 6.5
    Graphic Design: 9.0
    Soundtrack: 9.0
    Compatibility on PC (G4560 w/ GTX 1060 3G) I know its potato but c'mon: 7.0

    Overall: 8.0

I will be updating this review as I play more of what the game has to offer.

    Thanks for reading :)

The AI is awful with enemies literally shooting at walls endlessly for no reason, crashing their cars almost every time you let them or see them driving. Absolutely no skill required in fighting them. Game can be kind of fun at first but quickly became boring and repetitive. Characters and story are particularly shallow. Could have worked just as well as a Far Cry 4 DLC. An excellent game. I had my doubts about Ubisoft but this and AC origins has restored my confidence in them. I only have one gripe with this game. I have mentioned it below.

PROS: Absolutely gorgeous game. Great selection of weapons and vehicles. Interesting story and great villain. Does not require grinding unlike AC Origins. Tons of stuff to do in the open world. Map is open

    PROS:
    Absolutely gorgeous game.
Great selection of weapons and vehicles.
    Interesting story and great villain.
Does not require grinding unlike AC Origins.
Tons of stuff to do in the open world.
Map is open from the start which means you can complete the game at your own pace.
    Stealth is done well.
Not that many bugs. The rest will be dealt with in future patches, hopefully.
Don't need to craft equipment or syringes.
    Unlimited loot carrying capacity.

    CONS:
Enemies keep spawning everywhere. Not that they're difficult to kill but I just want to drive for 2 minutes without being chased by angry cultists.

This game is loads of fun, lots to do in the game world. Theres an added quality to the far cry francise just makes the game feel fresh again. Im Spending loads of time on this game its quite addictive and thats just doing free roam and side quests. Only done a few missions so far.
The begging opening scenematics of the game intro is fantastic, really can't fault that.

Moronic and predictable story. Basically, a Far Cry 4 with different environments and characters thrown around. Microtransactions by the bucket. Game is too easy on any difficulty since AI is non-existent.
You shoot one guy and others start running towards you mindlessly or just sit around doing nothing.
Ubisoft knows the recipe by now. Why make a good game every 3-4 years when you can

Ubisoft knows the recipe by now. Why make a good game every 3-4 years when you can make a lousy one every year for 3-4 years. The money is the same. Other franchises like Assasins Creed and Ghost Recon have suffered the same fate.
If you want a good game these days, it will most likely come from PS4, that's where most good game developers are now. On the PC side, all we have is Ubisoft, EA and Bethesda churning out garbage year after year.
I gave the game a 3 for the graphics.

Far Cry 5 is a nice and funny FPS that you’ll enjoy most in co-op. The well-proven concept would deserve a rejuvenation and adding a story that is adequate to the rest of the game. [Issue#285]

This fresh take on the Far Cry franchise is clearly visible content-wise, but a tad more discrete on the style. If you're not bothered by the slightly repetitive formula, you'll enjoy the many strengths of this episode.

Far Cry 5 doesn’t propel the series forward — it just refines all of its elements and relegates the infamous towers to the dustbin of history. So if you‘re allergic to open worlds from Ubisoft, don’t say I didn’t warn you. But if you’re eager to meet new wacky characters, complete dozens of missions and enjoy the sights, welcome to Hope County, sinners!
