    Ubisoft games are the McDonald's burgers of the gaming world. Not the tastiest food, but they're served quickly and the quality is consistent. In other words, you know what you're getting. If you like the stuff, good for you. If you don't, do yourself a favor and don't play them.

    Far Cry 3 was a good game since what they brought out was fresh, and they had great villains (and some great other characters as well). Far Cry 4 was a copypaste job that didn't improve on Far Cry 3 except for graphics in some parts. In fact, I'd say Pagan Min was the only reason Far Cry 4 was even playable from start to finish. The gameplay was just as boring, but my desire to learn more about this dude kept me playing.

    Far Cry 5 doesn't have a charming villain or anything fresh in it to redeem it as a gaming experience. It's the same goddamn McDouble you've have had the chance to eat for the past 10 years. It's not going to magically taste better all of a sudden.    … Expand

I didn't believe the game would be so bad in the way it was scored and described by the other players. The game looks interesting up to a point.     If you like a shooter in a big open world then Far Cry 5 is for you. It has an interesting story located in the beautiful state of Montana.

    Играя за высоком уровне сложности я ни разу не прошел какую-то сюжетную миссию повторно из-за того, что меня реально обыграл нпс. Изредка выбегали ни с того ни с сего    По сравнению с другими частями Far Cry хочется отметить, что эта часть является упрощенной версии игры. Да, много противников, да, они достаточно умные и в некоторых моментах они могут тебя задавить, но этого не хватает.

    Играя за высоком уровне сложности я ни разу не прошел какую-то сюжетную миссию повторно из-за того, что меня реально обыграл нпс. Изредка выбегали ни с того ни с сего бронированные эдемщики в плотную к тебе, которые со своего пулемета могли тебя скосить, но на этом сложности кончаются.

    Не понимаю, почему отказались от идеи охотников. Сложные персонажи, которые помечаются лишь на время и имеют сильную атаку со своим луком. Не понравилось и то, что все сектанты глупо стреляют - я стоял на месте перед машиной сектантов без пулемета, в меня стреляло 2 сектанта, которые не могли меня убить секунд 30, и это все на высоком уровне сложности.

    Если кратенько, могу описать что мне понравилось больше всего:
    - Мне понравилась карта: она интересная, заполненная и живая; животные - частое явление в игре, есть их разнообразие, это несомненно меня радует.

    - Красивая графика, более чем достаточно для игры этого жанра. По сравнению с прошлыми частями, я получал эстетичное удовлетворение, когда находился в горах и когда был в лесу. Красивая структура локаций и биомов (в игре их 4).

    - Музыка. Такая эмпирическая. Описывает время и положение дел на островах.

    - Оружие на любой вкус. Если нравятся снайперки - бери, нравятся ПП - бери, нравятся что-то потяжелее... может быть... огнемет? Бери, конечно же! Радует разнообразие оружий без всяких дополнений.

    - Много транспорта. В этой части, как правильно подметили, больше современных реалий и отражений. Машин много в мире и в игре их также много. Есть побыстрее, а есть помедленнее; есть поменьше, а есть побольше. Добавили вертолеты и самолеты, которыми легко и интересно управлять (мое любое средство передвижения!). Жаль, что вот лодкам внимание не уделили. В игре не было смысла их использовать за исключением парочки миссий, жаль.

    Пожалуй, это все. Если бы расписывал все что понравилось и нет, то на это ушло бы больше 5000 символов. Я отметил основное что мне не понравилось и наоборот.    … Expand

    the most average open world game I ever played. gunplay and events are ok but not good and god the story was so bad. In the end nothing really matters, I really won't spoil it but the story was lackluster and pointless. Maybe they were setting up the next Far Cry but this was my first played through Far Cry and probably also my last.     I played with a friend which probably made this more enjoyable than what it really is but even then their progress doesn't count towards your progress, forcing you to switch back and forth between both games for unlocks and New Game+. Except why would you play it twice with neither ending being decent. If you like drugs you'll like this game, because every major story event practically drugs you to start, yanking you from whatever quest you were trying to do to take part in a mediocre story. They really need to work on their story writing in the future. Even the friend I was playing with that usually takes things better than I do gave the game a 6 out of 10. We won't be finishing my game as we both agreed that it was pretty garbage and quit to do other things.    … Expand

Чтобы понять нужно капнуть глубже. "Far Cry 5" - это "Just cause 2". И теперь всё сходится. Точно также разрушаем башни и аванпосты ради "Хаоса", точно также на выбор огромный арсенал, из которого только 2-3 пушки используются постоянно, точно такой же пустой и мертвый, но при этом необъятный(зачем?) мир.     Minimap replaced with a compass reticule at the top feels odd after playing 4 games with a minimap. Very annoying having to constantly open the Map interface to find anything past 100 meters.     Stealth mechanics simply suck. What's the point of having a silencer if enemy NPC's are still alerted to your position when you shoot an NPC from a bush. Especially when the enemy NPC is alone and the body isn't found.

    Chain takedowns only work half the time, pistol takedowns work a quarter of a time, vehicle takedowns are no longer a thing, death from above now only works undetected, and death from below was used only once during the tutorial. Can no longer drag bodies after taking them down, making stealth much harder as well. Enemy NPCS will often spot you through bushes while crouched.

    Weapon variety went from nearly 40+ guns in Far Cry 4, to like 15 guns max in Far Cry 5. Basically, for each category (Handgun/Rifle/SMG/Sniper), the starter version is better than most of the upgrades you spend hours to unlock.

    Forced main missions make clearing up the side mission list annoying.
    NPC's in ATV's and trucks literally spawn like every 50m. You practically can't run anywhere without attracting someone's attention and getting shot at.

    Companion system is new and fun, but basically as worthless as the Death from Below mechanic. After the first companion, you will essentially pretend that the other companions you unlock exist.

    I played all franchise of Farcry and for me this one was a beautiful game like the another ones!
    With a good story, gameplay and graphics !
    But from the old farcrys to this one I think this is not the best one so I gave 8/10.

    The biggest difference between this Far Cry and others, is probably their antagonists. Antagonist, Joseph Seed, has really good personality. And as far as game tells us, he was right about all the things he had said. The entire Seed family are characterized really well.
    Another negative point of game is that the main character doesn't speak at all. He just watches things without any reactions. The Junior Deputy is the first mute Protagonist in the entire franchise.
    Despite having same-looking boring missions, the big environment of the game made it look less boring!
    Overally, it's worth to play it for those who are fan of open-world games.

    Let's analyze the plot and what is happening in the game. Event's game happen kinda in our time. In County Hope, a fictional region in Montana. In this County captured religion zealots at the head Father (Joseph Seed) and his two brothers and one sister - who calls heralds. Map is split on three part, on every part we have a boss (heralds). You playing for deputy of sheriff, you come in there that restore order. We need clear every land, helping people from resistance and defeat bosses.

    As usually plot is not very good. He is primitive, even main quest. You are Rambo, kill everyone on your way. But i researcher and me just relax walking for world and do as i will. Yes, if you wanna play in game with difficult plot - fc5 isn't your choice.

    Game have a three ends. And three addons. Talking about second, although what we have talking about? I don't play in it all, but I reading a lot of reviews and they all as one proclaim, that addons is **** Don't believe me? Take read yourself.

    Yes, I almost forgot about soundtrack. It's so pretty, particular part with sister of Joseph - Siren.

    'key, what in outcome. In outcome, we have lovely Far Cry, which become still more beautiful, but with not the most delicious filling. Although main antagonists have some charisma.

    por mais que o jogo traga inovações na jogabilidade ele peca na historia e o protagonista que basicamente não tem voz nome e não existe! nesse far cry foi retirada a mecânica de torres de radio para liberar o minimapa o sistema de pesca pode ser ate divertido mas o jogo não tem uma historia marcante como os jogos anteriores.

    La misma fórmula de los anteriores Far cry (aunque sin estar subiendo a cada torre para desbloquear la vista del mapa) la verdad es que me gustó, el mapa de Montana es increíble (bosques, ríos, lagos, carreteras, montañas, etc) y los jefes de las áreas de mapa son bastantes peculiares. Las armas son de lo mas regular (aunque solo use Ak47 con silenciador y mira reflex) y capturar cadaLa misma fórmula de los anteriores Far cry (aunque sin estar subiendo a cada torre para desbloquear la vista del mapa) la verdad es que me gustó, el mapa de Montana es increíble (bosques, ríos, lagos, carreteras, montañas, etc) y los jefes de las áreas de mapa son bastantes peculiares. Las armas son de lo mas regular (aunque solo use Ak47 con silenciador y mira reflex) y capturar cada puesto no me presentó ningún gran reto, aún en la dificultad más difícil ( y los DLC también; excepto el de Mars porque a esos bichos no les puedes hacer headshot) pero pese a todo eso....en general lo encontré para mi, bastante disfrútale.
    PD El tema principal del menú (me refiero al soundtrack) es uno de los mas bellos que he escuchado en mi vida (y algunas canciones de los álbumes de la música del juego que sacaron)    … Expand

    This is the best Far Cry game to date. Better, even, than FC2 was relative to its era. The story isn't as rich as in some of the other titles, but the gameplay is FAR better. Far Cry as a series has definitely been on an upward trajectory while its major rival, Just Cause, is going the other direction. Great game and finally brings the franchise to the upper echelon of open world titles.

    Picked this one up at a deep discount and it was still disappointing. There are no meaningful graphical or mechanical improvements over FC3 and the story is lacking. Things and characters just kind of spawn. There is little continuity. I thought it would be better on a gaming rig (that's why I didn't pick it up the console editions) but it's the least satisfying shooter I've played in years.    … Expand

    Pros:
    Realy enjoyable gameplay.
    Amazing graphics.
    Great companion characters.
    The addition of helicopters adds so much to the game.
    The new perk system is very well done and makes progression super fun.
    The DLC is just different enough to be a fun experience.
    Fun hunting activities.

    Cons:
    Repetitive mission design.

    Mediocre AI

    Unfair and poorly executed moments in the story that force the player to lose in-game fights, even if they take no damage.

    The worst writing I have ever seen in any game ever. The stupidity in the script is downright inexcusable. The reality that earplugs exist is a devastating plothole. The script is that weak.

    The review.
    Do you want to single-handedly dismantle a cult? Do you want a game that lets you hunt Bison with a semi-automatic 50 cal sniper rifle for profit? Do you want to be a one-person war machine causing unprecedented mayhem in rural America? Then look no further. This game is for you.
    … Unless you’re really bothered by a bad story and STUPID game mechanics. My biggest gripe with the gameplay is that throughout the main story of Far Cry 5, you are kidnapped constantly. You are a one-man/ one-woman death machine who can swat down gunships like gnats and walk off bear attacks, yet you are constantly being overpowered and kidnapped. I think it happens 9 times. I don't know who designed this “open-world” “sandbox” game, but the point is to allow the player to control their own destiny. To do what they want when they want. Not to randomly be kidnapped in forced, unfair sequences that are literally unbeatable. Every once in a while a “ capture party” will come for you. I, having played this game quite a lot, absolutely decimated several capture parties only to have an arrow spawn out of thin air, knock me out, and initiate a cut scene and a mission sequence I had no interest in participating in. It doesn't matter if you're too good to be captured, the game will force it. It will break your immersion, and become unfair just so you can “experience” the story. Which brings me to my main gripe, the story. It's dumb. It's really dumb. I have never seen a game try to sabotage itself with such an awful story before. I am going to go into spoilers here. If you're not interested in spoilers please stop reading. The reason you're kidnapped constantly is so you can be brainwashed. You're brainwashed so that if you choose the ending where you save your friends and to go get the National Guard, the game can have a shocking ending where you kill all your cop buddies. Wow. Edgy. But this isn't even the worst part, the reason I hate this is that while you were in the process of being brainwashed, it is made very clear to the player that the bad guy who brainwashes you, Jacob, can gain control of your mind by playing a specific song over the loudspeakers/ radio. So, dear reader, I asked you, why doesn’t the main character just invest in a pair of earplugs? Or they could just do what I would do, get a pair of headphones, blare some death metal and wipe out everyone in Jacob's base including Jacob so you don’t have to engage in this nonsense. But no, this is the world of Far Cry 5, where logic can't happen because the ending needs to be shocking. Also after you wipe out the Lieutenant's of the cult, and several hundred of their members, as well as much of their supplies, they magically kidnap all your friends in the end. Why? How? Because reasons. Why put effort into your writing when nonsense endings pay the bills. Oh, by the way, the other ending is that you defeat the main bad guy, he nukes the area, killing all of your friends undoing all the work you’ve done, souring the entire experience of playing the game because it was all for nothing… And the main character becomes his personal slave. Excellent writing yall. There's nothing quite as fun as a dominating everything in sight throughout the entirety of a game just to lose in the final cutscene.

    Skip all the cutscenes, completely ignore the story, or write your own, and just flat-out refuse to engage in the endings.

Even in the middle of a base with zero interaction around you. The gameplay loop is boring, most mechanics are irrelevant, perks are only good to relieve some limitations and the rest is pointless, as is crafting or moneyUbisoft once again proving that the only way THEY can tell a story is by removing player interaction. Every boss fight is announced by drugging you and dragging you off. Even in the middle of a base with zero interaction around you. The gameplay loop is boring, most mechanics are irrelevant, perks are only good to relieve some limitations and the rest is pointless, as is crafting or money once you've unlocked the 2-3 things you actually need. The is absolutely no emergent gameplay because the only things that happen outside of scripted events are random patrols that are dispatched within seconds and exist to provide you with a few progression points, that's all. The last Far Cry I played was 3, and it was a great game, it had charm, it had energy and fun, because of that I don't understand how the developers could **** it all up.     Joseph, John, Sheriff Whitehorse, Faith and most of the characters were enjoyable.
    My favourite character from Far Cry 5 is probaply Sharky Boshaw or Jacob.
    The game is fun and the graphics are pretty good considering how my PC runs

    Ended up picking up the game during the recent steam summer sale. So far I am about 20hrs into the story and complete one of the zones only because I spent hours driving around in a boat with a machine gun on board shooting everything I could. Overall story has some funny moments but it is still basically a re-skinned version of other Far Cry games to me. Even pokes fun at itself early on in this.

    I would say the game is not perfect and the teammate AI is not great. Over the guns feel ok, but lack a lot of customization and micro-transactions, though not needed to get most unlocks, is ham-fisted into the single player aspect.

    At full price I would not say this game is worth it, but at the discount I got it at I would say it is worth while to pick up just for the story play through.    … Expand

    It's a goddamn mess. The tone is wildly inconsistent - one moment, it's a serious look into the 'christian' cults of North America and their methods of inducting members, chilling descriptions of the cult's brainwashing techniques repeated and professed by honest, earnest believers. The next moment, there's a drug called Bliss that lobotomises people, or sometimes it brainwashes people, and sometimes it's temporary but usually it's not, and it gives you telepathic powers? And the cult has been using it to indoctrinate people, and also fuel their explosives and... it's a contrived Deus Ex Machina, shoehorned into what could have been a sobering commentary on religious cult behaviours and abuses of power.

    Not to mention the staple of Far Cry - the villains - fall kind of flat. Joseph Seed is played very well by Greg Bryk but he's not really in it all that much compared to his three lieutenants - Jacob is a zealot obsessed with natural selection (work that one out) John is a... lawyer? Torturer? TV Show host? He's really keen on the word 'Yes' and it gets so uncomfortable the game tries to have a cute joke about it by giving you a mission where you blow up a sign that says "Yes" in the mountains, and calling it "No Means No." Cute, Ubisoft. And then there's Faith, who is manipulative, but also a hippy, but also manipulated by Joseph, and she's a telepath and she loves the Bliss, and... I struggled enough to care about Joseph, and in the end i just disliked them and their stupid circular logic to the point i was grumbling at the characters themselves. Maybe that's the point, but that doesn't mean i have to like it.

    Don't even get me STARTED on the ending. It's terrible no matter which way you slice it - contrived, unsatisfying, and makes everything feel like a waste of time.Again, maybe that's the point - but again, the point is dumb and terrible and i hate it.

    The rest of the game? it's pretty good, i guess. The core gameplay loop is fun and satisfying, you get to customise your character, and with every outpost captured you get closer to being captured yourself! Yes, after having fun in the wide open world you get railroaded into a cutscene with one of the boring cult lieutenants, then a short, linear gameplay section where you escape, and this... this happens about nine times over the course of the game. It's cartoonish, and by the time you're taking on your third lieutenant you'll just be sick of it. The Guns for Hire and npcs you meet are pretty likeable, and some of them even have good character arcs - but they're underutilised in a game that claims to be about a community coming together to fight against a huge threat.

    All in all, i can't really recommend Far cry 5. The story had potential, but it doesn't just fall flat - it crashes and burns, causing a 70-car pile-up with no survivors - not the characters, not the fun side activities, not even the staple Far Cry gameplay can get past the story's bloat. Which is a shame, considering how much I like the rest of the series.    … Expand

The only good ending happens in the very beginning when you can choose to walk away. I would say take that a step further...don't even buy this game. That's really the very best ending. Save your money and avoid the disappointment. For people who just want to play with the toys, FC5 does not disappoint. There are way more toys in the sandbox than any other game I've ever known. The soundtrack is decent as well. Yet 'Story' and connection are my payoffs and this game is empty in that department.… Expand

    I had a lot of fun with this game, until I suddenly just got bored around the third act.
    The world is beautiful but the more time you spend in it the more silly the narrative built around it all becomes.
    Regardless of this there is still plenty of fun to be had in this game.

    Far Cry 5 is a great game in my personal opionion. People usually love FC3 but I'm not on their side. I love this game with its plot, chracters and the story that gave us FC New Dawn. Not the best game in the world but one of the best Ubi made.

    Nothing in this game will give you any kind of satisfaction. The guns are weird, the AI is stupid, the enemy spawn makes no sense, the goddamn bloom effect is just annoying, the story is boring, you don't care about side characters and everything is absolutely easy, even on hard difficult, The hardest this on the campaign is to catch a fish for a quest. Oh! And every DLC sucks.

    The gameplay here makes no sense at all. Fights are either too easy or impossible because you have almost a entire army against you. You need to use the NPC to fight with you. Yes, worst idea ever.

    For the peope who complaining with enemies nearby all the time, if you kill the boss of that region, you can walk more freely for the places.

    Suprisingly good ubisoft game breaking out of the Far Cry scheme a bit. Feels a bit different, and I like it. The story is good and the new main antagonist is pretty memorable, really makes you feel like the bad guy here. Probably my fav FC game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The worst Far Cry, maybe even worse than Primal.
    The good part first: The map. Its a very beautiful map set in the US-State Montana with a mountainous landscape and rivers drawing a pretty scenery. If you climb up on mountains you can hear the wind whistle and sitting at the river fishing some fish with your dog ''Boomer'' can be very relaxing also. That being said;

    There are over 6 hours of cut scenes most of them forced some of them unskippable. The characters are unrecognizable and talk way too long while the main character (the one you play as) doesn't say a single word . The entire game. They ruined my favorite game series with micro transactions and just dry game play. The stealth has become a little more realistic which means its absolutely no fun since the enemies detect you way too fast even on the easiest difficulty. Far Cry 3 and 4 both had very distinguishable enemies and allies (blue and red) which means its alot easier to tell who to shoot and who to spare. In this game the enemies wear dark colors and so do your allies. While the previous Far Cry's implemented drugs in a sort of comedic and funny way, this game puts you constantly on a drug called the Bliss. Just sitting at a river for example cant be peaceful for on minute because you get detected and shot immediately. Ubisoft also left the knockdown mechanic in the game, which means if you get too close to an enemy they will knock you down to the ground all the time while you got shot. Ubisoft was also too daft to add a function that a dog can sit next to you in a car (just saying GTA 5 is now 7 years old and they were smart enough to know that dogs can sit in a car). The game spends wayyy to much time building up the villain (showing cut scenes of them killing people for example), and when you finally get to kill them its just another cut scene of them giving a horribly written and voice acted speech and then dying. The forced cut scenes and fillers are probably what makes this game absolutely horrid. If you gain aq certain amount of points by freeing a hostage i.e. you will be forced into a cut scene where you're captured in some sort of camp and escape miraculously. 9 times. The fillers are for example opening vault doors. You have to open like 10 vault doors in one mission to get out. The Problem here is that there is a wheel you have to spin to open in which takes like 20 seconds to do. They completely removed the need for hunting since everything is bought now. Also why is there different types of fish with individual weights but they all sell for the same value? Its pointless to go for the more challenging ones since you always get 100$ no matter how heavy or rare they are.

    This game is pretty much GRW with Far Cry in the title
    -Bullet Drop
    -Taking out smaller villains to get to the big one
    -AI companions
    -Micro transactions
    -Skins
    -Main Character doesn't really have a name
    -Helicopters with horrible controls and physics
    -Spawn points for cars
    -No crafting system, everything is bought (which also means hunting is absolutely useless
    -Different regions

    Its so bad that i think Far Cry Primal is more of a Far Cry than this.    … Expand

But their AI doesn’t really "shine with miracles". By the way, the car's auto driving is a little bit crooked but sometimes it was useful. I liked the hunting and fishing, as the searching of different things like lighters and whiskey and the plot justification of that(extremely simple but no needed something more). For more, there were side full-fledged quests and the same caches, each of which had to be opened/found in a new way. Some side quests, by the way, were very interesting and funny. But some were dumb(flat toilet humor). That’s all what I liked in that game... And now the opposite:
    The release of outposts resets the bodies(and it is impossible to collect trophies from them). You can not hide completed quests(It's not new but It would be extremely convenient and I surprised and disappoint that many games ignore this). An extremely poor and not convenient inventory and store(What a fool came up with idea to make mechanics that ammunition you need to buy exclusively all at once?! You need bullets to rifle? - NO! you will buy ammunition to everything).
    Loot system: You pick up a half of it yourself, and a half are grabbed automatically(It’s extremely uncomfortable to think about where you need to press “F”, and where you just run past. Such situations make you "stumble" on looting). Plane flying is critically awful. AWFUL!.
    -Dumb AI(the eagle flies away from its place, enemies freeze in a car or near a tree during an attack, etc.), small bugs like opening companion's window instead of map when you receive new quest.
    Some other broken mechanics(in shallow water you can’t jump or climb the stairs, a scripted parachute - a low jump kills if the activation of the parachute started but did not have time to end).
    A co-op only for the chaos and fun, the Campaign resets the progress of the second player from you when you enter the game next time. Half of the skills are useless(I throw away planning of skills after getting 40% of them).
    And the most heavy sin: Story. An interesting idea is ruined by a tasteless, predictable and crooked script. Just a few things in each region were interesting, and all of them are a battle with the boss of the region. The drama of religion fanatical monologues are the opposite of the anarchy and "meat grinder" that they arrange in game, which kills any sympathy or attempt to understand their motives. It was understandable only for brother-hunter from mountains(Only strongest will survive). The ending of game was potentially interesting and unexpected, but extremely sharp and short. And not interesting from the side of the behavior and conversations of the main enemy at the end.
    A separate dislike of how this plot is basically presented: Each boss catches you 4 times, pushes a fanatical speech and ... let you go. 4 goddamn times. So in general, instead of trying to kill the enemy, you are caught and released 16 times. Seriously?! ...But the most strong fire was when it happened during a new quest. The NPC began to give the quest and during that they turn me off and catch me. It is wretched, stupid and tasteless.

    Ugly mix of FC3 with Mad Max. High HW requierements does not correlate with improvements in graphics. Religion used in main plot is so dumb. At least I had it on Epic only for 5 Eurous with coupon.

There arent surprises lying in the story. The actual story is awfully short and you wont realize it because you will be tasked with a bunch of random missions to actually unlock the story missions.     annoying effects , mediocre weapons and shooting , definitely not satisfying ending (or exciting)
    I feel like far cry gets worse every game ( as in 3>4>5)

    Sure it has some serous problem - above all the setting of the difficulity levels - but that does not change the fact that it is a very beautiful game with an excellent story,which has one of the best soundtracks amongst the current games.

    I ONLY purchased the game to play with a friend and I can't because of the snowshoe error that everyone has.

    I contacted 3 TIMES Ubisoft support and spend around 4 HOURS trying to fix it without success.

    Stay way from this crapp.

    Отличная часть фар край, есть недочёты, но они есть у всего, а так всё отлично, персонажи, игра актёров, живой мир, веселье, куча заданий, новые механики, самолёты И ЭТО ЕЩЁ НЕ ВСЁ. Игра лучшая в серии, и даже лучше 3.

Literally every quest, at some point, I find myself spinning around in a panic trying to figure out who is shooting me and invariably it's an NPC standing about 4 microns away right behind me. After the magic NPC has murdered me I get to start over, and likely have the same thing happen. Past FC games have made the challenges rewarding, and I've enjoyed that - but something about this experience just makes me rage quit after an hour long session, rather than buckle down and try harder. Both the exploratory play and the quests are made a lot less fun by the constant disappearing of ... everything. Want to go back to that vehicle you had to park in order to deal with half a dozen enemy trucks that magically appeared directly behind you? Too bad, it's probably gone. Want to loot all the enemy bodies after helping defend an outpost? Too bad, they're definitely all gone. Want to skin that animal you just shot? Good luck finding the carcass before it despawns. I'll probably finish playing all the way through, just because I'm a stubborn jerk and want to get my $15 worth. I can't see myself spending any extra time after the main story is done, in exploratory game play, like I have for countless hours with previous FC games. It's such a heart breaker because this game had so much potential. I really like the mechanics and the realtime visuals, and the environment is gorgeous - those are all areas where this game improves upon previous games, in my opinion. Unfortunately, at least for me, they amount to precious little saving grace (pun fully intended) in the face of the routine and fundamental frustrations. I know I know... "get gud". No thanks, I'd rather drag my sack across the pavement. I'd be real ticked off if I had paid full price for this game, but for $15 it's fine I guess.… Expand

    Sure, the player dies in a few hits on the hardest mode, but when your companions can casually clear any situation the challenge is entirely gone. The devs seem to have realized this to some extent, adding enemies which spawn in constantly and randomly, but this only adds a dreadfully monotonous nuisance which again the companions deal with easily by themselves.

    To top it off, once explosive weapons are unlocked the player doesn't even need his companions anymore.

    In a nutshell, fun for the casual gamer who doesn't pay attention to the story, but awful for those who require a challenge and/or immersion.    … Expand

Consequently the player is constantly being dragged from a mediocre video game into an Uwe Boll movie. And not one of those Uwe Boll movies that he's proud of and will happily fight you over. No, this is an Uwe Boll movie and that he finished, watched, said "Oh my G-d, what have I done?" and then hid in his basement. The movie- Sorry. The video game fails on every level except for graphics and controls and voice acting. The graphics are pretty. The controls actually work pretty well, although several times I discovered that I had inadvertently exchanged weapons while reviving a companion. The voice acting is good to excellent. The AI is . . . present. Sort of. Overall, there are some things to like.

    But the bad is very, very bad. The writing is absolutely awful; it would make Uwe Boll blush. It's failing film student fan fiction bad. My character has been captured so many times that I must be playing Far Cry: The Perils of Pauline. At one point I was arrowed and captured inside a building crawling with White Tails. The writers have greatly expanded their love of drug effects, so that I spend much of my time not in control of my own body. Cut scenes are long and dull. And most unforgivably, not one single choice I make as a player matters in the slightest. The makers of this game have their ending pre-written, and while it's worse than any SciFi horror movie ever dreamed of being, they're relentlessly driving you to it.

    I am so, so very glad I bought this when it had dropped to a cheap price. Unfortunately I succumbed to buying the bundle, so I have the sequel which I can't imagine I'll ever play. I award it two turds and may G-d guide its makers into rehab.    … Expand

Every weapon seems like it's not adjusted so you shoot left and right off your target while laying down prone with a 8x scope fixed on an enemy's head and he's standing still.
    The map is fine and the elements of fishing and hunting work just like in Far Cry 3, so that's fine, but it doesn't make a difference at all to the game if it is in or not. enemies spawn all over the place ALL THE TIME, so you can't go anywhere without bumping into enemies and constantly have to kill 8 guys at every turn in the road. Visually the game looks good. nice colors and environment and the wildlife acts somewhat close to real wildlife so hunting feels real in some ways without being to boring. physics, especially while driving boats and flying are atrocious but you don't really care since it gets the job done and you don't depend that much on it.
    All this wouldn't mean a bad game if it was Far Cry 3 but this is Far Cry 5 and this game has the most idiotic and stupid story.... maybe of all time. You don't have a clue what is going on at any point of what the overall goal is with your actions or what the main villains plan is. You get kidnapped over and over to signal a new chapter in the story where you repeat the same over and over and over. I more or less figured out there was some thing about a certain sentence (won't spoil it) but you blast your way through enemies and bosses and you wait for that reward of finally nailing The Father and his family so you push on. Through the game I found myself not understanding why anyone would ever follow The Father since he strikes me as the opposite of a real cult leader, since he's talking about the bible all the time but it's gibberish, with zero context, not real bible quotes, quotes that don't fit any of the situations, Greg Bryk does a good job with the character but he's not a leader, he's a frail **** with an end goal that makes no sense and you don't care because there is no connection between the Potagonist and the Father and his family. You sit through cut scene after cut scene and plow your way through enemies in the thousands and in the end the game gives you the worst ever ending I've ever seen in any game that feels like a real and finish product. You feel like you got spit in the face and not in the good way where you want to do it all again to show who's boss but in the way where you feel like you just completely wasted 30 hours of your life on this stupid cash grab.    … Expand

You still, after 2 years since launch, fall through the world, get stuck in animation, vehicles and trees, framerate drops and laggy/buggy (as hell) coop. The only difference is that there are more stuff to buy (for real currency) in the store. sigh...

    This level of negligence is not really okay for a game by release, but even less so for a game 2 years After release. It´s sad to see the lack of care Ubisoft has given Far Cry 5, which lowers the score and the probability for me to recommend this as a buy, especially as Ubisoft still wants full price for it even though they have skipped out on making it work properly.    … Expand

It's unbelievable that Ubisoft don't care about it and didn't fix it. The game is 8/10 but it's unacceptable to release any game with issues like that, that's not what I paid for. Ubisoft, you should disappear forever, I won't buy any of your games again.

I mean, he was no cartoonish fiend, he was full of some kind of sick charisma, I could see why these crazy people would follow him and his actions even made perfect sense, especially in hindsight.
    What really made me say: "Wow!" is the subtheme of the warrior son, one of the three area bosses. No spoilers here, but the mechanics of his subplot are a stroke of pure genius, and 100% got me when the time came. Then I saw the endings, and loved both.
    Gunplay is very good as usual, stealth mechanics are also ok, and most companions are useful, if a bit too chatty. That crazy m*******er Clutch Nixon! I still hear his theme music in my head every now and then, lol!
    I know, I know, the majority of players doesn't like any of the above, but this is MY review and I did.
    So, maybe because I was expecting so little, the game gave me so much instead. YMMV but give it a try if in doubt, it's almost free by now.    … Expand

    I feel like this is like 50% of 2 different games crammed into 1. Each would be decent on their own, but put together it clashes immensely, and neither are completely finished.

    One part of the game, is an action game, you can stealth, or fly planes or choppers and blast all the enemies, no one care who they are or how they die. Even innocents can be killed without any consequence. This part of the game is the "Just Cause" part of the game. You're free to roam the entire world, and are tasked with liberating it through various small side missions. This part of the game is fine, but gets rather repetitive as there are not much variation in enemies or armory. It's over the top, you're killing enemies by the hundreds. It's decent fun, but feels like it could use a bit more before its finished, and then it would simply be Just Cause.

    The other game is not an action game but like a horror thriller. This part of the game is all the cut-scenes and all the forced upon you, unskippable story missions. It's how the game starts out. You need to stealth and getting hit by an enemy is serious. The villains try to get into your head. It would be interesting to have an entire game focusing on this part, a bit, I don't know, Resident Evil 7 or Adam Wake.

    Spoilers below

    But these two games clashes horribly in Far Cry 5. You go from being an unstoppable killing machine, to auto hit with sleep bullets that again, and again drag you into this completely other experience, where it's suddenly supposed to be very real and dark and gritty.

    I think letting players be in control when you get hit by the sleep attacks is a mistake. Surely it could be done better just keeping it all in a cut-scene. I once fought of the entire hit squad from John, but another just comes along. If you do want the player to have a fighting chance, don't give the enemies HP and the player a gun and active control.

    I felt very little connection to the NPCs. And the 4 main villains seems to be meant as "Oh they're crazy, but don't they kinda have a point?" but it's just insanity all the way down, and the protagonist never calls it out. And then at the very end of the game, it's revealed that the villains were right all along. The world was ending, or you could walk away. Both so unsatisfying endings. No ending leads to the death of the madman behind all of the horrors, and they even vindicate him. I gave up on the game several times, but finally I figured at least I would get to kill Joseph, but no. Magic and a Deus Ex nuclear Armageddon happens.

    The EXTREMELY super natural drugs were also so out of place to me. UNLESS you went the Just Cause cheeky action packed way completely. Combined with the serious cut-scenes and unskippable story missions, it was so weird to have "magic" in it.    … Expand

    Quanto a historia: É fraca. Um enorme potencial jogado fora. Não aprofundam em nada e possui furos inexplicavelmente escrachados. Os personagens são superficiais e não agregam em nada, os vilões principais não são carismáticos pelo simples fato de que a ubisoft não soube como trabalhar com eles. O final seria muito mais interessante se fosse pouco previsível por parte de referenciais, mas nem isso. Não houve impacto significante nenhum.

    Detalhe: As SideQuests, em suma maioria, são chatas e entediantes, como: Destrua isso, busque aquilo, faça isso. Nunca é algo que verdadeiramente te intriga, como numa side de The Witcher.
    Outra coisa chata é a quantidade de inimigos nas ruas. Serio, você não consegue andar em paz por 5 min. A caça no jogo foi completamente descartada e o ponto anterior corrobora mais ainda pra isso. Também não podemos esquecer do modo que os vilões te capturam. Simplesmente preguiçoso.

    Só vou dar nota 6 porque me senti entretido do inicio ao fim, exceto em raros momentos. Mas esse jogo merecia nota menor.    … Expand

I didn't like certain aspects, where you would just get captured and pulled away from whatever you were doing to go through their pre-scripted stuff.     The real glory of this game is the core gameplay. Doing outposts, driving around in the open world and killing cultist is really fun. The 4 main antagonist are pretty cool, but the story ain't.

I'm finding it a kick in the pants, great gameplay, and pretty close to flawless graphics. I like the story, and the Seed actors are all credibly creepy and terrifying. The only reason I'm not giving it a higher score is that it still has a couple bugs andI'm not understanding all the negative reviews - admittedly I waited to purchase, and probably missed any bugs and a lot of refinement. I'm finding it a kick in the pants, great gameplay, and pretty close to flawless graphics. I like the story, and the Seed actors are all credibly creepy and terrifying. The only reason I'm not giving it a higher score is that it still has a couple bugs and a memory leak, which occasionally forces you to quit the game and relaunch or suffer with a steadily increasing game slowdown.… Expand

    My score to this game is 6.The good things in the game are graphics,music,characters and some missions.But there are lots of glitches,70% of missions are boring,awful plot,and small length of the game.This is not bad game but it isnt a masterpiece.

Tengo que reconocer, que mi puntuación "sobrevalora este juego",a cualquier otro le hubiera dado menos nota...pero este Far Cry 5 tuvo "algo" que no tienen otros, me cautivó su atmósfera y su ambientación. Quería jugar más, quería escuchar su música country, quería seguir conociendo cada esquina del condado de Hope y quería seguir conociendo a todos esos NPS's tan carismáticos.
    Si a esto le sumamos su gran historia, personajes y su (tremendo) final queda una obra redonda.
    Pero como ya he suguerido...no lo es, y tiene fallos casi imperdonables.
    Especialmente dos:
    - El guion de las principales, no me puedo creer la cantidad de veces que te "secuestran" para lavarte el cerebro y forzarte a huir...¿De verdad no hay más escusas narrativas para interactuar con los villanos?
    - La experiencia jugable se va al traste en determinados "Bosses"...el duelo con Faith me parece de lo peor visto en un juego (Dispárame durante 10 minutos)

    Como he comentado, este juego lo recordaré siempre por su ambientación, aún llevo su BSO en el mp3...y SI! tiene mil fallos, pero no puedo no recomendarlo a los amantes de los FPS con exploración y mundo abierto.    … Expand

    Far Cry 5 is a nice and funny FPS that you’ll enjoy most in co-op. The well-proven concept would deserve a rejuvenation and adding a story that is adequate to the rest of the game. [Issue#285]

    This fresh take on the Far Cry franchise is clearly visible content-wise, but a tad more discrete on the style. If you're not bothered by the slightly repetitive formula, you'll enjoy the many strengths of this episode.

    Far Cry 5 doesn’t propel the series forward — it just refines all of its elements and relegates the infamous towers to the dustbin of history. So if you‘re allergic to open worlds from Ubisoft, don’t say I didn’t warn you. But if you’re eager to meet new wacky characters, complete dozens of missions and enjoy the sights, welcome to Hope County, sinners!
